It has been well over two months since classes started at Hogwarts. Students have already unpacked all of their stuff, read the first chapters of their books, gone to see their first Quidditch game of the year, and done their first few tests to measure how much they studied throughout their vacations. Slowly but surely the pressure is building up inside the school; not many people can keep quiet about the war that's been going on outside their school's walls and curiosity is starting to spark a revolution through some of the student body.

It is Monday morning, about 6:30 am, and everyone is just starting to wake up and put on their robes to grab breakfast at 7:30 at the Great Hall. Whispered rumors about who's parents are Death Eaters and who's siblings have joined what side are still circulating around, but the bell for first period chimes at 9:00,

are you ready?

{ Junk Of The Heart (Happy) : The Kooks | Cry Baby : Melanie Martinez | Say Yes : Elliott Smith }

Not much had happened since Gracie had returned to Hogwarts, despite the constant fear of an impending war, much of her school life had stayed the same. She tried hard to simply not think about a very likely war that was about to happen, and while that probably wasn't the best of ideas Gracie knew she had to or else she'd start thinking about her father and well, she didn't feel like breaking down in the middle of her bedroom while all of her roommates slept.

Ignoring the sad thoughts that plagued her mind, Gracie sat up in bed, running a hand through her long, tight ringlets. At the foot of her bed Dahlia slept soundly, a paw placed protectively over her nose as she stretches out her legs. Giving the all white cat a little belly rub to wake her, Gracie smiled at her pet fondly. She'd had Dahlia since she started at Hogwarts - a going away present from her grandmother - and Gracie would be distraught if she ever lost her beloved Dahlia.

Looking around the room from her snug seat directly in the middle of her four poster bed, Gracie saw that most of the girls were still encumbered by sleep, although one of the beds was empty. Noting it as Lavander's, Gracie throws off her covers and gets out of bed, still careful not to wake the other girls. Heading to the bathroom and performing her regular morning routine, Gracie runs a hand through her thick hair before deciding to leave it loose and natural for today. She'd usually tie it into little bushy pigtails but had decided to do something different today. Giving herself a once-over in the mirror, Gracie splashes a little water on her face to wake her up more before heading back to her bedroom and the trunk that sat at the bottom of her bed.

Shrugging on her Hufflepuff uniform, Gracie heads into the common room where she's greeted by a few familiar faces. Wishing her fellow housemates a good morning with her signature sweet smile before exiting into the tunnel that led her out just by the kitchen, Gracie could already smell breakfast; it smelt delicious. Quickening her pace ever so slightly as she hears her stomach rumble in anticipation, Gracie enters the Great Hall in no time.

Heading straight for the Hufflepuff table, Gracie is surprised to see Brooke seated there, next to Lavander. "Morning girls!" Gracie beams at the pair before turning her attention toward Brooke, "Hey Brookie, aren't we supposed to sit at our houses table?" She questions. There was no way Gracie meant to be rude to Brooke, she was simply just curious, and if you were allowed to go to other houses tables, it would make Gracie incredibly happy to have Brooke - one of her best friends - at hers! Grabbing a croissant from the centre of the table, Gracie takes a bite while she waits for her friends to respond.

Giving herself a moment to peer around the room as people were filtering in, she noticed Agatha sitting at the Slytherin table quietly. Gracie had never had a problem with the girl, in fact she'd tried to befriend her many times. But she got such an off-putting vibe from Agatha that Gracie decided it's probably best if she just leaves her to her own devices, and besides she had a pretty bad relationship with Jason and Gracie definitely didn't want to upset him. As her mind drifted onto Jason, Gracie sighs a little, placing her head in her right hand as she thoughtfully chews on her food. It hadn't been the end of last year that Gracie started seeing Jason in a different light than 'just friends' and she honestly wasn't sure what to do about it. Having no idea how he felt frustrated her to no end and Gracie simply had no clue what to do about it.

#2800d8 || 7th Year || Ravenclaw

William had learned many times that sleeping sitting up and slightly hunched over in bed was not comfortable- nevertheless, he had awoken in this very position, leaned over a thick book he had brought back from the library for some extra research. As he sat up, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, he could feel a stiffness in his back that was sure to hurt for a day or two. Yet again, he had fallen asleep while doing some late night reading in bed.

Realizing he was slightly behind schedule, Will popped out of bed and shoved the book into his bag- not before putting a bookmark where he left off, and went to the bathroom to get ready for the day. He brushed his teeth, washed his face, shaved the small patches of hair that if he let grow out would still probably not amount to much of a beard, and combed through his hair. He wasn't too upset that he didn't have time to shower because he planned on trying to run later, so it would just be a waste anyways. After changing into his Ravenclaw robes, Will checked the time again, then went back to pack up his things and make his bed, making sure to tuck the sheets in tight and smooth out the wrinkles. Though he personally did not care whether his bed was made or not, this had become a habit from living at home when he was younger and used to be in charge of basically all of the house chores.

Slinging his bag over his shoulder, Will glanced around the room to make sure he had not forgotten anything, and went into the common room. He had forgotten some of his homework there, and picked it up as he left the room to head to breakfast. Although he was often one of the first few into the Great Hall, today he was running late, so it was already pretty well populated. He spotted Brooke over at the Hufflepuff table, talking to Lavender and Gracie, and threw her a bright smile and wave. His eyes moved to Gracie, who he could tell was clearly deep in thought. Probably thinking about that boy again, he thought, lightly chuckling to himself as he took a seat at his table.

He began to eat, choosing healthier options, and drifting into a light thought about last night's reading, but was quickly brought out of thought when his sister briefly passed by him to say hello, by tickling his sides. "What a pleasure," he chuckled, settling back into his food and mentally preparing for the day ahead of him.

Karolina woke up, as usual, with the sun. She rose well before everyone else in her dorm, and likely well before most of the other students, in order to get ample time in for a run. Being ever so silent, she crept out of bed and changed into a pair of cropped athletic leggings and a tank top and jog bra. She wasn't completely sure about the actual rules about what she was allowed to wear, even if it was before everyone else was up, but until it became a problem, she didn't care.

Pulling on her sneakers, she checked the time to be 5:20. This meant she had about an hour to run before she needed to be back here and start getting ready. Karolina made her way out through the common room as silently as she could, and began to jog in the corridors, taking the fastest route to outside before briefly stretching and following a pretty normal routine, pushing herself hard and working up a sweat. She was hoping to see that boy- Jason- around this morning, but didn't seem to catch sight of him before finishing up, and heading back towards the Slytherin common room. Walking through the corridors, Karolina began to do cartwheels and front-handsprings. At this point, a few early rising students were up, and rather confused, to see this girl trotting through the hall and flipping at them. One student even attempted to scold her, but she just smiled and giggled, heading back to her room to get ready.

After a quick shower, she french braided her hair in the mirror, only missing a strand or two in the front, then dressed, and headed towards the Great Hall. Her eyes immediately found her brother, sitting alone at the Ravenclaw table, and she beelined to him. "Morning brother dearest" she cooed, squishing her brothers sides quickly to 'taser' him, before moving along and going to sit at the Slytherin table. She had kept her eye out for Leo, but sadly, she did not see him.

Karolina spotted Agatha sitting at the Slytherin table, fingers intertwined, with a thoughtful look on her face, and chose to sit near her, although not directly across from her. "Morning," she muttered, nodding her head at Agatha with a slight smirk on her face, but quickly dropping the smirk for a more neutral face and reaching to grab some breakfast. She may not have been sure about much, but she was sure of the fact that breakfast was a necessary component of any great day.

The sun rose over a dew covered castle. Fall was in full swing with the students having been as school for two months already. The Whomping Willow stood peacefully, It had been a new addition to the school a few years previous and students quickly learned to stay away from the swiping branches. It was a few good meters away from the tree where Jason Forrester stood. He was panting rather heavily from his morning run and his breath filled the air with fog. It had been a rather good run in the early morning and he felt the slight burning of protest from his muscles.

Taking a few deep breaths he turned his gaze from the swaying tree and turned his gaze towards the castle. It was fairly close to breakfast time he surmised from the of his grumbles his stomach. Deciding he should wash up a little however Jason set off at a brisk jog towards the main entrance hallways and pushed his way past the large wooden doors. He ran past a few students he knew and nodded in hello before finally reaching his dorm. It looked like Jayden was still asleep in bed and Jason felt the need to throw his pillow at him in an effort to help him wake up.
"Com'on you." He said rather cheerfully. Jason loved mornings, there was something so refreshing about them.

He washed himself off and put on his school robes and grabbed his school bag. His stomach was protesting quite fiercely at this time so he left his tie untied around his neck and shirt un-tucked as he hurried for the Great Hall. Already there were a few students about, eating their fill of breakfast. Jason spotted Gracie sitting at the Hufflepuff table and he felt his stomach do a little flip over. His gait halted for a moment but he continued on to the Gryffindor table and took the opportunity to sit where he could watch her. She was sitting next to Brooke and Lavender. Bleh Lavender His nose turned up at the thought of the annoying girl and he turned away from the three women. He noticed Agatha sitting across the way as well and sighed. What was it with crabby women these days. Honestly why couldn't they be more like Gracie?

He helped himself to some fluffy pancakes that appeared across the table on a golden plate and munched happily.

It took only a few minutes before Jayden Woodsen sat down next to him. He was nudged slightly in hello and Jason felt his orange juice slip over his hand because of it.
"Hey now..." He licked at his hand and grinned as Jayden complained about the mornings wake up. "So were you having a good dream then?" He reached forward and picked up an especially delicious looking apple pastry. His parents had asked him to send home a few pasties and food so they might try magical cuisine. Jason was pleased to admit his mother had almost managed to perfect the same taste after some trial and error. "I had a dream that Professor Binns was dancing last night. He was getting down to the Dublin Hags."

As he was speaking suddenly another delicious baked good beaned him right in the forehead and nose. Flinching in surprise and sending his orange juice once again everywhere, this time even on to Jayden's food and clothes. "What the-?" His eyes snapped up gleaming in delight at the thought of a food fight. He spotted Jayson at the Slytherin table doing his best to appear nonchalant but the bastard was failing miserably. Thinking that the boy needed payback Jason plucked up another tart. This one was strawberry and just filled to the brim with filling and gooey deliciousness. He took aim but just as he was about to throw the morning post started.

Owls fluttered in screeching and flapping their wings, the noise caught Jason off guard and his aim was altered a little. The pastry went flying but only to land on Agatha Peake, rather than its intended target. Eyes widening in surprise and shock Jason quickly decided to inch his way under the table so that perhaps she might not see him.

Agatha ate her breakfast in silence, only momentarily broken as Karolina swept in with her usual exhausting attitude. She answered her greeting in kind, adding a short "Sleep well? for good measure. Though she did not consider Karolina much of a friend, there was no reason to be rude. Plus, she had promised herself to be kinder towards people this year. Baby steps, though.

It wasn't as though she was about to invite anyone to her room to pet Baphomet or anything. Although saying that, she'd never know her pet to like anyone but herself. Even her sisters avoided him like the plague, after walking away with a particularly nasty gash.

Somewhere along the line, a piece of food was flung across the room towards the Gryffindor table. Agatha finished her breakfast, thinking it would be better to exit the premises before a full-fledged foodfight broke out. As she stood, the morning mail came through, causing her to pause in expectation of a letter from her father. As the owl dropped the letter in her hand, a pastry came flying across the room, hitting the side of her head just above the ear. She startled for a moment, frowned, and looked towards the Gryffindor table where Jason Forrester was trying to make himself as small as possible.

Agatha stepped away from the table, picked up the pastry and walked with determined steps towards where Jason was inching his way underneath the table. "If you're going to play tough," she said, "You can at least have the decency to admit it. Or were you hoping one of your cronies would take the fall?"

She then unceremoniously dropped the pastry on the table– but it had changed, somehow. It was rotten, falling apart, and a multitude of maggots were making their way out on the table. Inwardly, Agatha cursed herself for not being more careful. She was supposed to have this kind of randomised magic under control by now. Outwardly, she dared not imply that it hadn't been her intention, and so she gave a quick smile and turned her heel– exciting the Grand Hall as quickly as she'd come in.

As per usual Leo had woken bright and early, having gotten washed and dress before his roommates, he had found a cosy seat in the common room and watched as his housemates slowly began to trickle in. He notices Brooke but isn't quick enough to greet her before she slips out - most likely heading to breakfast. Running a hand through his thick white hair, Leo figures it's now a reasonable time for him to head down. Saying goodbye to a small group of Ravenclaws that had formed around him while he was seated, Leo exits the common room and makes his way down the towers steps and to the Great Hall.

Walking into the Great Hall with his typical slightly smug smile plastered on his face, Leo goes to take a seat at the Ravenclaw table before he sees a pastry fly across the room and manage to hit Agatha. His smile slipping slightly, Leo looks over to see the source of the attack and rolls his eyes when he spots Jason looking sheepish and trying to shrink down in his seat. Returning to his previous plan of heading to his house's table, Leo spots Brooke sitting with Will, and while Leo wasn't particularly good friends with the latter, him and Brooke got along famously so he took a seat next to her. "Hey Brooke, you're looking as beautiful as ever," Leo says, beginning his conversation immediately with a slight flirt before looking over at Will, smiling slightly at him, "Morning William," He greets the guy with before glancing around the room, "Your sister isn't here is sh-" Pausing mid sentence as his eyes find Karolina, Leo's small smile grows as he sends her a wave but doesn't approach her just yet - not wanting to be rude and leave the pair he was currently with. After he'd eaten though, Leo would go and sit at the Slytherin table with her.

Grabbing a bowl of already prepared fruit from the centre of the table, Leo stabs at a piece of watermelon with his fork as he takes another glance around the room to see who else was around. Noticing both of the twins sitting at their respective tables, Leo sends a smile to both but lingers ever so slightly longer on Jayson. A strange feeling finding it's way into his stomach before he quickly pulls his gaze from the other males direction.

Finishing her breakfast, Gracie sends Brooke off with a large smile and wave, watching her close friend bound over to her table where William now sat. Noticing her older friend looking in her direction, Gracie sends him a wave also, contemplating heading over to him before her eyes lock onto Jason's. Her big grin falling into a slightly shyer, yet still just as sweet smile, Gracie plays with one of her curls as she watches him interact with his housemates at his table. Deciding that as she was done with her food, she'd go and say hello, Gracie stands up from her seat just in time to see a pastry fly across the room and hit Agatha. Gasping slightly, Gracie watches the slightly strange witch pick up the pastry and head in the direction of the Gryffindor table. Stifling a small giggle, Gracie then continues on her path to Jason before realising that, that was exactly where Agatha was headed too. Stopping slightly to watch the girl chastise her friend, Gracie waits until she thinks Agatha is done before joining Jason. "Leave it up to you to make Agatha mad after five minutes of being in the Great Hall." Gracie teases, taking a seat with him and Jayden at their table, giving them both a greeting.

As well as Jason, Gracie was friends with both of the twins and, in fact, most of the school. Not being one to be exclusive, Gracie befriended practically everyone she could and loved getting to know new people. That being said, Agatha was just one person she'd never gotten along smoothly with. It's not that she disliked the girl - Gracie rarely disliked anyone - she just got the strangest vibe from Agatha that was awfully off-putting. Lavander was another witch that Gracie didn't quite mesh well with, the two were friends for sure but being s similar actually drove the girls apart rather than brought them together. While Gracie was always happy to hang out with the girl, they aren't the type of friends to spend time together, one-on-one but rather in a group (typically of Hufflepuffs). As Gracie thought about one-on-one time, she's reminded of her and Jason's tutor time and looks back at the wizard to mention it, "Still up for a study session after classes?" Gracie asks, hoping he would say yes as the pair often studied together the day before they had Astronomy. It being Gracie's favourite subject and Jason's least meant that Gracie had an excuse to spend more time with him and call it 'tutoring'.

Jayden looked at Jason as he asked was he having a good dream. "You were dreaming about Professor Binns? You are nasty." Jayden snickered a little bit thenshoulders shrugged as he was about to answer Jason's question from earlier but something had hit Jason in the back and he immediately turned around to see who did it. "It was Jayson, of course." He had muttered over towards Jason while his eyes rolled then he shook his head.

When Jason threw a pastry back but it had hit Agatha instead, he couldn't help but laugh and nudge Jason. "Nice shot, dude." His eyes caught sight of Jayson as he shook his head. Agatha then stood up and protested, a little. Jayden rolled his eyes towards her as he muttered towards Jason. "Geez. It's not like you put a curse on her or something." With another shrug of his shoulders, he continued to eat his breakfast just as Gracie sat down. "Hey there, Grace."

His eyes then peered over towards Leo, who smiled at him as he sent a head nod towards him and that was about it. It wasn't until Aurora sat down and basically asked about his dream. "I didn't even dream last night so it was cool." Jayden said as he looked at Aurora and Gracie. "How did you ladies sleep?" He had asked then finished his breakfast while chugging down his orange juice.

Jayson's eyes peered over towards the female figurine that had called his name out as he squealed happily. "Lavander!" He had called out as he basically pushed people over whenever he scooted down in his seat though she sat down in front of him. He apologized to everyone while he scooted back over then looked at Lavander with widened eyes. "Are you serious?!" His voice shrieked a little bit as he also covered his mouth his hand.

"That plant is so rare and kind of hard to get. I wonder how did they encounter it." He had inquired to himself then eyed her again. "I cannot wait for Herbology class now." His voice muttered with excitement as he knew that something was up with her from the way she was looking.

"But anyways, are you alr..." Just as he was about to ask, a pastry came flying from the Gryfinndor table as it was probably meant for him but instead, it had hit Agatha. Jayson honestly cracked up then stood up and pointed at Jason. "I hope you do better at Quidditch than you do at throwing pastries." Jayson shouted then sat back down as Agatha spoke her peace, as well.

Just as Jayson was about to comment, he felt a pair of eyes upon him as his gaze went over towards Leo, which made him blush. His gaze then looked at Lavander with a soft smile then back at Leo. "Girl. Is it me or is Leo staring me down?" Another blush came over his cheeks. When Lavander was to answer his question, he'd giggle a little then clear his throat and looked back at her.

"But anyways, are you alright? You seem like something is troubling you." Jayson pried a little while waiting for a response.

Lavander kept gushing about Herbology with Jayson, telling him all the details Professor Sprout had told her of the Mimbulus Mimbletonia and how they had gotten a hold of one. But before she could explain to him more about the plant, she too spotted the pastry that flew over their heads, most likely aimed at the twin, and landed on Agatha instead.

Shaking her head in disappointment and turning over to glare at the attacker, her eyes found a sheepish Jason Forrester trying to hide underneath the Gryffindor table. She couldn't help but smile and chuckle as Jayson yelled back at the boy for doing something so stupid an at how he freaked out when Agatha stood from her table and went over to give him a piece of her mind.

Turning back to Jayson she found him looking down at the table blushing, instantly catching her attention as she had a small clue of who had caused the blush from her friend. "Girl. Is it me or is Leo staring me down?" he asked her. As the twin had pointed out, she caught the blonde boy staring from his house table at Jayson, making her smile instantly and turn to look at her friend excitedly "Oh my goodness! He totally is! You should go over and say something!"

But before she got too hung up on the matter, he interrupted her little celebration to honor his exciting love life with a question that instantly brought Lavander down from Cloud 9. "But anyways, are you alright? You seem like something is troubling you." At this, she looked down at the table herself and took a deep breath before locking her arms nervously around her. She'd talked to Jayson about her family before but she had been keeping her worry a secret from him, since she knew he would just get as equally worried for her as she was for her family. Not to mention, if Jayden found out he'd freak out and ask her why she hadn't said anything before since he was always trying to protect her.

Deciding she couldn't keep it a secret from her best friend anymore, she looked at him determinately, "Alright, I'll tell you what's been going on with me lately but only if you promise me you won't to tell Jay. Otherwise he'll go all big brother ballistic on me for not telling you guys before." She quickly looked back and forth between her hands and the table, feeling bad about discussing the topic since it always put her in such a bad mood.

"I've just been really worried about my family lately. You-Know-Who's been targeting innocent Muggle and half-blood families to torture and kill, and I'm just scared my family might be next," she confessed with a sad tone, "and the thought that something might happen to them while I'm here at Hogwarts and not there to protect them is killing me."

Agatha was incredibly scary when she wanted to be and Jason felt like perhaps he was a young boy again and an adult was angry at him. He peeked over the giant wooden slab of the table and slow rose up he frowned as she called his friends 'cronies.'
"Hey now..." He straightened to his full height just in time to see the pastry fall to the table infested with maggots and rotting. His nose wrinkled at the smell and as she turned away from them he whipped out his wand to make the pastry fly up only to be caught by a circling owl.

As he was sitting down again he was then joined by Gracie who smile made him grin a big stupid grin despite the insults being thrown his way for his poor aim. He ignored Jayson's little Quidditch jab making a mental note to get him later for it. For now there was a pretty girl in front of him. They were then joined by Aurora a fellow Gryffindor and he gave her a smile as she complimented him.
"Good Morning Aurora." He passed her a big plate of bacon as thanks for her kind words and nodded at Gracie when she asked him if he was willing for another late night study session. She was quite brilliant at Astronomy and the two had taken to climbing up to the North Tower the nights before for star gazing and homework. They had been given a particularly frustrating assignment on mapping the stars and finding the stars that had vanished since their birth. While this would be quite easy with the wonders of the Library the students were expected to use a complicated bit of magic that would map it out for them from their wands. It took a great deal of concentration and alas Jason just could not seem to master it.
"I'd really appreciate the help." He said to Gracie.

Jayden was asking the girls how they slept and Jason leaned back in his seat to listen. It was nearing time for classes to start and already students were filtering out of the hall and towards their respective classes.

Will could tell who had hugged him from behind almost instantaneously, recognizing the affectionate gesture to be from his dear friend Brooke. She had always been affectionate to him, ever since they became such fast friends, and gestures like this were daily. He smiled back to her, eyes opening wide with excitement in response to her question, but not quite answering before Leo had sat down on the other side of her and, characteristically, immediately complimented her. He smiled a greeting to Leo and watched the boy's eyes fall on to his sister. He wasn't quite sure what it was that had made Leo and Karolina so close- but he wasn't quite sure he liked it.
Bringing his attention back to Brooke, Will began to speak rather quickly at first, but by the end of his sentence very slowly.

"Well, besides that massive charms essay we have due tomorrow- which I'm almost done with so lets not stress about it- I was up most of the night reading..." His eyes darted quickly from Brooke to around the dining hall, checking to see who was near and who might be listening.

His eyes met Brooke's as he attempted to decide whether or not the reading was actually something he should discuss with Brooke right now. It had been heavy stuff- a history of dark uses of magic and recording of wizard on muggle crime- but it was very relevant to the current times. Will's mouth opened as he began to give Brooke a very brief overview, but he stopped talking as he saw some sort of drama unfolding across the room. It seemed a Gryffindor boy, Jason, had thrown a pastry at Agatha. He couldn't help but chuckle lightly, watching her reprimand him and clearly scare him, before drawing his attention once again back to Brooke.

"Have you any suggestions on something we can do later? I don't think the work load should be too heavy tonight."

Karolina was actually surprised by Agatha's response; it was quite a bit friendlier than usual. In fact, the fact that she had responded at all was kind of surprising. "Yeah, I actually slept really well," Karolina muttered, organizing her plate to look pretty before digging in. She watched the girl across the table eat, forever interested by her harsh ways. She had spotted Leo across the room and made a note in her mind to grab him as soon as she was done eating.

When Agatha got hit in the face with a pastry, Karolina could not help but smile. Not because she was happy to see the girl upset, but rather because anything out of the ordinary in general was thrilling for her. Her mouth was slightly agar in a shocked, but clearly a smile, expression as she kept her eyes glued to Agatha on the move. "This'll be good," she muttered to herself, watching.

She was honestly slightly let down. She had hoped Agatha would retaliate more, but it almost seemed like she hadn't planned on doing anything. Then suddenly the pastry dropped to the table, rotten and maggot filled. Karolina chose to stop watching at this point and to quickly finish her meal. She didn't mind sitting alone at all, especially since it allowed her to focus on eating and not getting distracted.

When she finished, Karolina stood up quickly, leaning backwards in a stretch until she felt her back crack. She then locked her eyes on Leo- who seemed to be looking at someone else. She followed his eye contact to land on Jayson, which was no surprise, but by the time she looked back to Leo he had moved his eye contact. Karolina again locked her eyes on her friend and basically pranced over to him, adding a spinning jump at the end before sitting down across from him just for effect. She reached over and grabbed his hand, giving it a quick squeeze hello and a goofy kiss before speaking.

"I'm thinking next time if we really want to get a food fight going, we throw something that stains." She said, her eyes looking at each of the three across from her, Leo, her brother, and Brooke, before grabbing a piece of fruit out of Brooke's fruit cup and eating it.
