Introduction
While the other, fortunate students had made it home in time before the storm had hit, these teens weren't as fortunate. They were cold, in the dark, without adult supervision, and the worst of all; there was no food other than the vending machines that took your money without giving you the fruit-snacks you paid 75-cents for.
And it was no secret that they all didn't get along. There were the popular kids, the loners, the stoners, and the nerds. Those who would rather die than be caught seen with each other in social situations would now have to practically cuddle for warmth.
Of course they thought of just walking home, the high school wasn't that far from their homes...but once they tried opening the doors to find them blocked by nearly 4 feet of snow, it was apparent that they weren't getting out anytime soon. So they took to the upstairs windows. Finding an open classroom was easy, and jumping out the second-story window seemed pretty safe, with all that snow to cushion their fall, but once they pushed open the glass-pane and felt the below-zero temperatures, that idea was quickly abandoned. And to make matters worse, if that was possible, the temperatures indoors were gradually dropping as well.
And so they gathered all of the emergency kits from every classroom they could find, and waited for sweet freedom. But hours passed and the snow wasn't stopping.
Several distressed parent-phone calls later, and it was confirmed that rescue wouldn't come until morning.
That was only 12 hours away, right? They could survive that long...right?

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 5 authors

He looked around the room. It didn't help that he didn't know anyone he was stuck with. He did faintly recognized 2 of them as cheerleaders, but he didn't know their names. And everyone else was a far cry from who he normally hung out with.
He put his head down out of boredom, and decided that, if he could ignore his chattering teeth and shaking bones, he could sleep through the entire thing, and when he woke up, his mother and father would be waiting in their shiny, black Range Rover Evoque to take him home where he could take a hot shower and go to bed forever.
Through his skinny jeans, he could feel his legs growing numb, and he was positive he couldn't feel his feet. He surveyed the room once again. Was anyone else as cold as he was?
Setting

Ariel wasn't bothered with the cold that seemed to have affected most of the people in the room. Her cheeks were a bit red, but she was perfectly fine. Her light jacket was unzipped, and her arms were crossed, just in case she needed some of her warmth and that her body decided to stop her long time resistance to the cold. Ariel recalled a time when she was in junior high, that the other students called her a 'Human Furnace', since her cheeks were always so warm, and she was always fine in the blistering cold that would descend upon them. So many kids would go up and invade her personal space, just to warm their frozen hands. They got bitten for that.
The math nerd glanced over her shoulder. She had an extra jacket in her bookbag, the reasoning being her mother's constant worrying that 'no matter how much it didn't faze her, she still needed some extra clothing in case something happened.' Something like this. Her mother was right -- as usual. The cold didn't bother her, but rather the fact that she was stuck in a room of people she would consider as idiots or otherwise. People she did not like. Ariel glared even harder. She'd much rather be curled up at home, on the couch with her father, being the bit of a Daddy's Little Girl she was, watching the news. Perhaps she'd have some super cold ice cream while her sister would look on like she was crazy, and share some with her brother, who would enjoy it with her. Her mom would be sewing something together, and it'd be content. But no. She was stuck here, with these people that she, in the necessity of repeating so, did. Not. Like.
She scowled again. Her cell phone wasn't working, and her parents were probably worried. Ariel slide down the wall, leaning against it some more as she sat on the floor, (whether it was sanitary or not, at this point, she did not care) legs propped out, and stayed in her little 'bubble', distancing herself away from the others. 12 hours of this was going to be mere torture.

Hell, hes probably the only person who wants to be here. School is his escape from the shitty life at home. His drunk and usually high older brother, his abusive and alcoholic father, and his eternally working mother to feed them makes his life a living Hell. Thankfully, his father's in jail for a while, as with his brother. So Oan is alone, teaching himself things like guitar to pass the time while his mother works herself to death.
Taking his guitar out of the case, he tunes it and begins strumming to 'Free Fallin' by Tom Petty. "Heh, maybe I'll be seen as more than a magic playing nerd now." He says, his fingers moving across the frets as he plays the song, singing lightly as not to disturb the others.

Slowly, she stood up, leaving her messenger bag where it was on the table. But she paused when she heard the soft strumming of chords. Whipping her head around, she saw Oan, a quiet boy who like to play with magic cards, playing the guitar. "Hey!" She called, waving her arms as she bounded up to him. "Do you know how to play anything else?"

She immediately pulled away and glared at the window "Stupid cold. Why the heck can't snow be warm?"
Kailee pulled her long dark brown hair from the pony tail holder and ran her fingers through it to separate the curls and then pulled her thin sweater closer to her body. Why hadn't anyone left the stupid heating system on?

The eighteen year eyed just who was in this cafeteria. There was this kid playing his guitar and another girl who seemed quite interested. Boring. He turned his head. Another, who was obviously more sensitive to the cold than Lawrence was at the moment, and there was that scary little girl in the corner over who seemed ready to slaughter all and any who'd try to bother her. He wouldn't take his chances.. just yet. There was also some various other girls. All obviously not older than him, but what the hey. He didn't have anything better to do. Oh. Wait. He remembered something. Might was well to get this out of the way.
He took out his cell, and immediately texted this chick that he was seeing now. She got boring after the first two nights. Hell, he couldn't even remember her name. Lawrence texted quickly to the girl, hey, love. Gonna be out for a while. Stuck inside from blizzard. Oh. And, it's over. Sorry! This break up is lame, but hey, I can pull it off. Have a nice life.. er, Jessica, right?
Text message breakups. He had to chuckle at how much of a hypocrite he was. They were lame, and quite sad, actually. But he was stuck, in this school building for the time being, which interrupted his plans to break up with the girl face to face, that he had planned to do so later. So, text message it was. He had called for help earlier, but since they were stuck from the massive piles of snow blocking all entrances, so this heart-breaking womanizer was to stay put. Though, he had to wonder. If it were to be twelve hours from now, how were they going to get them out if this snow was falling? They could plow it away, but, it was still snowing. And god knows how long it would take at this speed. Maybe they might never see daylight again. The thought was almost horrifying to Lawrence. The touch of a woman (not these younger kids/teenagers..) may have been something that he might never experience ever again!
Surprisingly, he took it quite well, as he didn't seem all that bothered on the outside. He was too busy silently shivering. He glanced around the room again. He was hungry.
He took a stride towards a girl with a camera, and put on a charming smile, "hey there chica." He refrained from calling her kiddo just yet, and stretched out a hand in a friendly manner. "S'Xander. And your name?" His raised brows added comical effect.
Lawrence Elexander Helnards may as well trying to search for warmth, and to get on most of everyone's good side. There was at least 12 hours being here. It could take even longer. Why take chances, when your life was involved?

Kailee didn't have anything against Xander, it was her sister and the other girls' own fault that they got involved with a guy like him, she just thought he was over rated. Every girl in the school and probably every other school knows he has a reputation for losing interest and dumping girls but they always think they might be able to change him or be "the one", at least that's what her sister thought.Kailee thought it was a lost cause before the idea completely formed in her sister's head.

Lawrence raised his brows in another comical expression, "Oh." Her sister? And her two cousins. Dang. The brunette had to prevent the grin that almost made way to his face. He was rather smooth, if he did say so himself. Though, it would probably appear rude.. since, well, it's her's sister and cousins.
He gave a sheepishly modest smile, "well, Kaliee," he paused for a moment to fully taste how it sounded on his tongue before continuing. "I thought you looked familiar.." It was a lie, seeing as he's seen so many girls, he couldn't tell them apart, really. It was rare to find ones that were impressionable. "You wouldn't have some sort of grudge or something against me for dumping your sister, would you?"
It was a rather a redundant question, seeing as she didn't really seem to care about his current presence, which he found it to be a bit relieving. He didn't like to think of this as arrogant or cocky, but if she liked him, even just a little bit, he'd feel a bit threatened. He slumped in his stature a bit more, feeling more at ease and his appearance conveyed it quite easily.

"Very creative way to dump her too, tell her you're breaking up with her and moving right over to my cousin, kind of trashy but it was amusing."Kailee smiled and put her camera down "Although I do blame you for the weeks of crying and complaining though, those are three weeks of sleep I will never get back."
Setting

Lawrence didn't know whether he should smile or not, a brow raised in both amused and bemused expression. Was that how it went? Huh. Real creative indeed.
Kailee smiled and put her camera down. "Although I do blame you for the weeks of crying and complaining though, those are three weeks of sleep I will never get back."
But he couldn't help the smile that spread across his lips when he laughed. It was genuine. "Is that so, kiddo?" His hands were placed in his jean pockets. "I wouldn't say 'trashy'. You make what I do sound more horribly inhumane than it does in my thought process." He paused, a small pout forming as his eyes glanced upwards to nowhere as if he was thinking carefully, before looking back at her. "But, I have to say, I must apologize for that lack of sleep, I can empathize. Days without sleep can get realllly shitty."
His thing of trailing girls along and then dropping them.. It wasn't really trashy. It was just.. common sense. When you don't like your old toys no more, you go and get a new one and have a lot more fun instead of with your old ones, right? .. Er, okay, so it did sound a little bit trashy. But it was a force of habit. He didn't like to stick around any longer than he needed to. Girls were like toys, in a way. He was pretty sure that girls saw men as toys as well, so all's fair game, right? Right.
Lawrence eyed the camera she had in her hands. "So I take it you're the kind of chica whose into photography?" His 'chica' had a chlink sound to it, and his smile became a bit lopsided, turning into a playful smirk as he added, "Or is that all for show, kiddo?"
Setting

"And I guess you could say I'm into photography" Kailee smiled at Xander and played with her lens cap "I don't want to brag but I'm pretty good"
She looked at him for a minute and frowned "And I'm not that much younger than you, if you call me kiddo again I will have you castrated and then I think you would be just a bit screwed" She smirked and snapped a quick photo of him.
Kailee had a bit of a habit of taking pictures of people she talks to and it usually weirds them out, but not as much as the random facts she blurts out when she's awkward or nervous.
Kailee examined the picture for a minute "Not that bad for a surprise shot"

Lawrence didn't have time to say anything back when she suddenly took the picture of him. He had enough time to raise his brows though, just before the flash occurred. He frowned, a slightly pissed off expression appeared for several moments before it dissipated, and it was just a simple frown again. "Just a habit thing I got." He refrained from saying kiddo, instead screaming it in his mind so he wouldn't be too bothered.
Kailee examined the picture for a minute. "Not that bad for a surprise shot." He leaned in bit closer to see, "Is that so?" As he looked up from the camera, not really seeing the picture as his attention was taken by something else. "So, any requests?" He says out loud, trying to get a conversation started. Lawrence turned to look over where the guitar player was. No song came to mind. He turned back towards Kailee with a strange smile, "You got anything?" It wasn't flirty, nor friendly. It was just.. undefinable.

Lawrence felt a small wave of relief, but had the charming smile reappear as he simply replied, "I was actually taking you rather serious there.. kiddo." He watched her as she took pictures, slightly perplexed, but he'd looked around the room in deprived entertainment, observing conversations and loners. It was getting rather quiet in here, wasn't it? Not literally, of course, since the Oan kid was playing his music that reached throughout the corners of the room and the many few people in it, including himself. Life was just getting.. so bland as of lately and always. It was his reasoning for his actions. Lawrence just sighed though, and closed his eyes as he let the melody being played envelop him into a respectful silence.
Ariellaen glared at everything. Her arms were still secure around herself, but her facial expression still remained the same as she watched on. The guitar that was being played wasn't all that bad, but she herself personally preferred to listen to piano or violin, as she wasn't a fan of guitars, cellos, harps, etcetera. Her head leaned onto her arm, as she stared on into space, adding multiple mathematical terms together and solving them, before adding on more complicated equations and expressions, finding it to be self soothing. But the music being played kept interrupting. She would say something, but Ariel wasn't in the mood to go piss off people some more (she had already done so with in the week. It was rather tiring to go tell people that the "truth" as how she did, surprisingly to some.)
She kept her head down, arms used to try to block out all sound considered unnecessary, to perhaps get some rest. And, if she was lucky like she was so far(more or less), no would bother her whatsoever, and she'd get out of this poorly heated building (Really, just who was the friggin' idiot that designed this place? Both him/her and the friggin' meteorologist who tried to predict today's weather should go jump off some cliff and stay there.) within the next 12 hours undisturbed. She highly doubted it though. But it didn't hurt to hope.

Kailee looked around the room and saw the other students in similar positions, huddled by themselves on the floor, there was even a girl huddled with her hands over her ears either to keep them warm or to block out Oan's guitar playing, although Kailee personally thought he was incredibly good at it.
