"What? Never seen a girl with a gun before?"

0 · 238 views · located in Allen, Texas

a character in “Of the Pagelings”, as played by The*Lucky*Teacup

Description

Name:

Alevina "Levi" Ramone

Appearance:

Image

Age Appearance:

18

Genre (romance, adventure, horror etc):

Action

Book Title:

Black Lagoon (Manga)

Personality (reflects genre usually):

Well, like most Action heroines, Levi is one B.A.M.F. She won't go a day without punching someone/something and has a temper that'll get her no where. She's a lover of violent things and horror movies. She likes action in her life and, unfortunately, hasn't seemed to experience any. So far anyway... She is one of these stubborn mean looking girls who is a bit of a tomboy and has trouble trusting other people and leaving her defenses down. Levi often feels the only person she can really trust is herself, and for that reason, she has the appearance of someone who wants to be alone and is a 'bad girl'. This isn't entirely true. Levi does like the company others, even if she doesn't get it that often. She's a bit sarcastic to those she is friendly with, but otherwise, she's simply another girl, but with a tough exterior. She is also one of these people who gets frustrated when she can't do things and will get agitated with herself and get angry. This often leads to breaking down in a rage. Levi isn't all that crazy about showing off her emotions anyway. If she feels happy, embarrassed, flustered, twitter-pated, any of these kinds of good things, she'll become defensive, curse and swear and try to hide these feelings. Happiness is one she only shows every so often. Usually when she does, she bites her lip to hide her smiles, unless it becomes unbearable. Then, she can't help but let out a small smile. You'll know she trusts you, when she finally smiles at you and you actually hear her laugh. However, it's not like Levi isn't a good person. She is, but she just has her own way of doing things... and that usually involves her buddy, Sherlock. Sherlock the shotgun... or perhaps Sammy. Sammy the sword.

Abilities:

Levi has become a black belt in karate, meaning she's worked up the strength to punch someone extra hard when she wants to. She also has inanimate paper crafting a bilities.

Weapons:

Well, Levi has a pistol right now that she probably shouldn't have, but screw it. She wanted a gun, and so she got it. Big deal.

Oddities:

Levi can't bare to be around be around trains. She doesn't have any idea what it is, but the sounds, the movements, everything about them to her is rather eerie. Perhaps she has a fear of them, due to hearing stories about people falling under trains and being splattered like road kill. There's some things that even she can't defeat... Levi also has a scar going from the top left rib, to the bottom right rib. She has no idea where it came from, but always just assumed she got it when she was little and never found out anything about it. However, the cut is possibly her weak and sensitive spot. Being jabbed in the chest now causes a lot of pain for her and her defenses will go down if it is hit.

So begins...

The roar of the crowd was muffled by the glass walls, the sound barely making it's way in through the gap between them. It was a bit of an annoyance, but then again, it was a Saturday. School was out for the weekend and Stonebriar Mall was packed to the gills with high school students enjoying their first day of freedom for the year. Pity. None of them know the value of a good book I'd bet. The paper covers of Matthew's latest choice clamped back together as he folded the pages of "To Reign in Hell" by Steven Brust shut. She'll be here soon enough. I've just got to wait. He mentally decided as he stood from the luxurious lounger. The posters on the indoor windows of Barnes & Noble obstructed his view of the main entrance to the mall and he needed to be sure when his ward came in, preferably without her knowing. A trip to the magazine rack would do fine for cover. All that was left was to wait. "Welcome to a whole new world Levi. You'd best be prepared." He muttered, inaudibly as he aimlessly sifted through the mechanics magazines. There'd be a message soon. He knew it. But not to him, no. He'd gotten his long before this.

Across a highway of light and sound, a message was carried. A message with a purpose, sent to places across the world, and more importantly, here, to Allen. As they reached their destination, they slowed to a stop, alongside others of the same effect, each having been read possibly more than once. The phones lit up and the message was opened. To one Guardian's, the message read, "Adder, Max. Appearance: 22", an address and a picture attachted. A similar message sprang up on another Guardian's but read, "Darkeholm, Gabriel. Appearance: 23" with a picture of the young man and his address. A follow up came shortly thereafter. "Keep on guard. We are their shields, their swords and their servants. They are Priority." And thus, the wards were set. A world was opening wide to these people, a world they never would have dreamed.

Okay, now concentrate. Keep sh!t out of your mind and focus. Don't f*&k this up.

Her blue narrow eyes opened slowly and she looked to the garbage can on the other end of the roof top. She raised her hand pistol slowly, holding it steady atop her forearm and wincing one eye shut as she aimed carefully. No one would probably expect her to be up there. She was up on her block of apartments, quite early in the morning and doing target person. Yup, like any other normal person. She sucked in a breath slowly, and then pulled the trigger, the bang echoing around her and causing her to wince her eyes shut. When the echoing ceased however she opened her eyes to see how she did. She had missed by a long shot. Again. She'd only just got this gun, and her aim was worse than an elderly man that was blind. Her face tensed up in aggravation and she boiled up a little, fists tightening and by instinct, she aimed the gun in the air and shot another bullet whilst cursing loudly to herself. "SH!TY GUN!" She yelled to no one in particular, storming about slightly before a bird dropped to her side. She looked down to it and saw a bullet indented into it's throat. She bit her lip, narrow eyed still before hauling up her black duffer bag, burying the gun inside it and putting the safety on it. She made her way down the staircase and out of the building, still cursing and swearing to herself as she made her way to the mall, deciding she needed a coffee to calm herself down.

She was really pissed off with herself, deciding the day couldn't go on any worse unless it was the apocalypse. First, she gets chucked out of bed early by her stupid alarm, thinking it was a weekday, and then when she started doing target practice, she ended up being a worse aim than she expected. Everything was going wrong, and to her it was just being another bad start to another school year. Last school year too. Ugh, finally... She popped a cigarette out of her back pocket and then lifted her lighter to it, setting the thing alight and then inhaling deeply before walking into the Starbucks built within Barnes and Noble, smoking away like a chimney. A staff member looked up to her as she walked in and walked over with a frown.

"Uh, excuse me miss, but you're not allowed to smoke in here." He politely said.

Levi looked at the man and then took her cigarette out, leaning in close to him and then popping the cigarette in his mouth instead. "Well now I'm not... You better report who is though." She said, smirking and giving him a little wink before going to the counter and ordering a double latte.

Well well, look at that. Right on time. Matthew thought with a chuckle. He set the magazine back on the wooden rack and shouldered his bag, the handle of a baseball bat sticking out of the end. He maneuvered his way through the shelves, crammed with books and magazines up towards the Starbucks. Before he could interject, he watched an employee approach her, and subsequently get humiliated. What an adventure this one would be. Well, first impressions I guess. He thought approaching the counter. Plucking a water bottle from the cooler, he placed it on the counter next to Levi. With a grin, he turned to the cashier. " I'll take care of hers too." He said handing him a twenty. Then he turned back to Levi. "Levi right? Seen you around the school. Never pegged you for a coffee kid though."

Levi glanced up to Matthew out of the corner of her eye, raising an eyebrow in an intrigued notion before looking down to her latte and picking it up. "Funny the things you learn about people." She mumbled, rolling her eyes slightly and then sipping down some of her drink. She looked to Matthew again and blinked a couple of times, tilting her head and then raising an eyebrow. "I don't recognize you from school..." She commented in a low tone, suspicious and a little bit annoyed. Last thing she wanted to deal with was flirts. They were a waste of time and actually really terrible in bed. She tried it once... never again. Then again though, he may have just been at the school and she didn't notice him... which also happened a lot. She turned round and pulled her duffer bag further up her shoulder. She pulled out her wallet and handed him the money he paid for her drink. "Thanks, but I can look after myself. I'm not some homeless kid."

Oh I know that look. Sorry to burst your bubble kid. "Learn something new every day huh?" He cracked the seal on the water bottle and slid the lid off. "Don't recognize me huh? Well I don't blame you. I think the last time we talked was Coach Elmore's history class last year. That's the reason I recognized you." He took a swig of his water bottle and watched as her hand moved off to the side of his field of vision. Underneath the sleeves of his shirt, his muscles tensed. A reaction, but he was glad it wasn't visible nonetheless. After all it could come off as rude. They relaxed when he saw it was a wallet though. "Never thought you were." He said, politely refusing the money. "Just figured I'd do something nice for once. That all right with you? Or should I go steal a kid's lollipop to balance it out?" He stuffed the bottle in the side pocket of his sports bag and adjusted it accordingly on his shoulders.

Levi blinked a couple of times at Matthew, slowly recognising him and then her suspicious expression fell. "Aheeh." she sounded out, giving him a smile that Was so obviously faked and awkward. Last time she met this guy, it seemed like he was oblivious to almost any danger in the world, and to her, seemed like a bit of an idiot. "As amuzing as that sounds, you probably shouldn't." she said, smirking a little and then leaning in close towards him. She pulled gently on the waistband of his pants and then slid the money inside, letting it ping back in place and hold the money there. "You try too hard to be nice honey." she commented giving him a wink. "And I don't want to touch that cash now thanks. Looks like you'll have to keep it." she said offhandedly. She readjusted her bag on her back and looked up to him. "And I don't want any sexy dances either. This ones on the house." she said rather loudly, catching a little bit of attention of the people around them.

Oh Levi, you've no idea what you're getting yourself into. Matching her tone of voice, he gripped the money between his fore finger and middle finger. "Does this mean I won't see you on Ladies' Night? You're always my best customer, it'd be a shame if we lost you." Returning to his normal tone, he smirked and stuffed the money in his pocket, making a mental note to reimburse her later. "You can't win these ones Levi. Come on, let's walk and talk, catch up a bit huh?" Without waiting for a word of protest, he looped his arm with hers and tugged her along. Please, for once, make life easy. Just trust me on this one.

Levi's eyes widened when his arm looped around hers and she was pulled along slightly. She looked to Matthew with a look of disgust. Quite suddenly, she twisted the arm that was around her back and then held it against his spine, shoving her knee at the base of his spine and then leaning into his ear. "Touch me again, and that bottle is going up your ass so far that water will becoming out of your nose." She hissed so only he could hear, twisting his arm a little more and then pushing him forward and away from herself, releasing his arm. "Since when do we know each other enough to 'catch up' anyway, hooker boy? Who the f*ck do you think you are?" She asked suspiciously as she took a few steps away from him and brushing her arm down as if he had wrapped germs around her arm the moment their skin made contact.

He could feel the adrenaline rushing. It was an active effort not to pop his shoulder and stab her with the bolo knife. Sometimes he forgot how handy it was being double jointed. No no we're in public, that's frowned upon. Not to mention I'm supposed to stop her from getting killed. He dragged her off to an empty corner of the store and dropped her in a chair, sitting directly across from her. "You really want to know?" He hissed at her in a coarse whisper. "You know what, don't answer that. I don't give a shit if you want to know or not, you'll find out one way or another. You've people after you for reasons you wouldn't believe. Like it or not, we're stuck together cause I'm assigned to you. So get over it and be happy that I caught you before you got killed." He sighed and calmed down, his flared temper dying like a doused fire. Well fuck. There goes the subtlety.. "You're going to have to deal with it kid, cause I'm not losing another one."

Levi blinked at Matthew a couple of times, trying to take in everything that he had said before she broke out into the smallest of smiles, before smiling a little more. And then she laughed a little. And then a little more, more and more until she was actually clutching her side from laughing too hard. "What the fuck have you gotten high on?" She asked between her loud chortles. She wiped under her eyes and then shook her head. "Who wants to kill an eighteen year old that... Well screw me, has no job, has no connections, and lives alone?" She raised an eyebrow her laughs dying away as she got a cigarette out of her back pocket and lit it up. "And by the way buddy, who you calling kid?" She asked, plopping her feet up on the coffee table next to the chair that Matthew shoved her into. "And assigned to me, lovey?" She scoffed, puffing out a lungful of smoke and then popping the cigarette back in. "Is this, destiny? Are we meant to suddenly live together, grow old together and live happily ever after?" She laughed again and shook her head, dumping her bag on the ground next to the chair.

"Fuck that. Believe me, if I had my way, you guys would be stuck out on your own or in your case at least. But I've got a job to do and I'm going to do it. Don't believe me? Here." He tossed her a small black flash drive and slid his computer from his bag. "Go on. plug it in here or wait til you get home. But either way, you've got a lot more to lose than I do at this point, so I'd suggest watching it." He shuddered inside as he remembered what was on the drive. It was a video he'd shot back when he had been a fallen for a short time. It was only an attempt to learn what he could, but he'd gotten more than he bargained for. Stuck with one of the "Kill don't capture" mentalities really didn't suit him well. If he remembered right, her name was... Brianna? No. No it was Bryce. Yeah that was it. She was about his age and had some kind of issue with the Pagelings. Never even tried to bring them in, which at that point was fine. There were more than enough of them known then. Now? Not so much. A lot can change in a year. He didn't mean to, but he'd brought along a video camera. When he realized he had it, he knew he had to get this. Just in time, he got a few second long video of Bryce offing one of the Pagelings and their body exploding into the ember words. Just like Emily had. God dammit.

Levi raised an eyebrow at Matthew and then slowly pushed the pendrive into the computer. Might as well satisfy the whacko... She sighed gently before clicking about on the computer and then finding a couple of video clips. She turned the volume down low and then puffed out some of the smoke of her drug as she played the video. She watched through the video's and then when they had finished pushed the lid down on the computer. All for a moment, she was quiet. She just puffed at her cigarette and seemed to think. She took a sip of her coffee and then pulled her feet off the table, picked up her bag and got to her feet. "Look honey, I'd... love to get in on your little video, and I'm so happy how eager you are into movie making..." She said, scratching the back of her neck and then allowing one strand of hair to fall between her blue eyes. "But I'm not an actress, and I don't do camera's." She blinked a couple of times. Maybe this guy really was into drama. Either that or he and his buddies behind the computers in the basement with great special effect skills were just plain crazy. "Well, it was nice meeting you, uh, Johnny, or Matty or whatever your name is, but -oh gosh, look at the time!" She exclaimed, looking to her bare wrist. "I gotta run, busy with chores today, but God it was nice catching up. See you later now!" She quickly turned out of the premises and power walked down the sidewalk. "What a freak..." She murmured once she was sure she was far enough from Matthew. She pulled out her headphones and began jogging, knowing that if this guy was... serious (As strange as that sounded) that he would soon be following after her. She just wanted some peace and quiet and to be left alone. But noooooooooooo that would never happen, especially not on one of the days where she was ticked off enough as it was. "Fucking people." She hissed to herself, going down an alleyway to her block of apartments.

"What a pretty girl," Bryce murmured to herself from the top of a fire escape in the alley. She watched the dark haired girl walk down the alley. She obviously didn't know that at the end, it was completely blocked off. Even if she did, she probably wanted to bad to escape from everything else to even care.

Bryce soundlessly flew down the ladder to the cold dark ground. She followed silently for a bit until no one would be able to see them. She held one of the knives in her hand. Without warning, she threw it, aiming to simply cut the girl's shoulder.

"Didn't your mother ever tell you not to wander down dark alleys?" she said, holding another small knife in her hand. She grinned a most wicked smile. "Hello, Pageling. Should have stayed with mommy."

Levi cursed out at the sudden slicing of her shoulder, only getting a cut that wasn't even that deep. But, when taken by surprise, it kills like hell. Many curse words left her mouth. "Fuck", "Bitch-hole", "Pussy twist" and many others were included.

She turned to the girl that had thrown the knife at her, still holding her shoulder but now narrowing her eyes and glaring fiercely at her. "Didn't daddy tell you that knives were only meant for horror movies?" She retorted, biting her lip and trying to reach into her bag and get her gun out. She probably wouldn't even be able to get the girl. But hell, a gun always looked more threatening than a knife, didn't it?

"Who the fucking hell are you? The black maid? Secretary to Slenderman? Emo Tinkerbell?" Levi raised an eyebrow at the girl, managing to smirk a little. Emo Tinkerbell, she was proud of that one...

"Oh, how rude of me, I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Bryce Bishop and I'm the woman who will be killing you today." She replied rather cruelly. Then she ran at the girl holding the knife ready to kill. The rude little girl was only annoying to her now. No sense in playing games with this one. But still, she did see some entertainment in punishing the girl. That is, not killing her right away. Other Fallen would tell her that if you had the chance to kill a Pageling to just do it. And other Fallen were probably right. But after a while, it gets rather boring just killing one after another. You have to enjoy it once in a while.

Instead of going straight for the heart as she normally would have, Bryce slashed hard at the girl's leg. She really didn't want her running. That would just be tiring and too much work for her.

But suddenly she remembered something. Where was the Guardian?

Levi yelled out, but then bit her lip to stop herself from looking weak. However, by now it was possibly a little late for that. She had fallen to her knees, dropped her bag and was shivering a little at the blood running down her leg. "Fuck you, you little bitch. What have I ever done to you anyway? And I thought Matty was a bit of a loon." She hissed, not up for taking shit from an emo kid. She was suddenly bringing her leg round and kicking it at Bryce's ankles, trying to trip her up. But if that didn't do it, the almighty whack of her bag against her chest should've at least distracted her. Levi twisted her body around and tried to get to her feet, however ended up stumbling by the cut of her leg. "Fuck Fuck Fucking a duck." She cursed as she limped along quickly. "Go fuck a duck you stupid ho!" She called back to Bryce, trudging along before her cut leg bashed into a wall, sending a coursing pain right through her leg. She stumbled to her knees again, narrowing her eyes and digging her hands through her duffer bag, desperately trying to find the-"Gun." She muttered when she felt it in the bag, pulling it out of her bag, dropping it, picking it up again and aiming it at the bat-shit crazy girl who was attacking her.

The girl whirled around and kicked her suddenly. Bryce stumbled backwards a bit and breathed a quick "Jesus," as she regained her balance. She was off her game a bit. Still, the Pageling was too weak. At least she didn't know of her powers yet. And if Bryce had anything to say about it, she never would.

Seeing the gun, Bryce was only confused. Why the hell was this little mouse carrying around a gun? She quickly took two knives in one hand and threw them, aiming one at the hand holding the gun, the other at the girl's head.

She just wante this girl dead now. She didn't care how, she just wanted it over. It was that guilt that was beginning to play in. Why couldn't she be heartless?

I think this spectacle has gone on long enough. "Looks like I was right. Your name is Bryce! Almost forgotten." He swung the bat in a wide arc around his face as he stepped in front of Levi, lodging both of the blades in the larger side of the bat. "Put the gun away kid, you're not going to get anywhere with it." He said over his shoulder. "You know Bryce," He started. "I really don't appreciate you trying to kill my ward. It's pretty rude." He plucked the first blade from the bat and tossed it on the ground. "Well what do you know. It's pretty full circle now huh?" The second blade slid out of the wood and fell to the ground. "Here, hold this." Matthew told Levi as he slid the top half of the bat off. The large bolo knife was stained, but the blade was still visibly sharp. "Well come on then. I've got a lot to do tonight and you're holding me up."

Levi fell back at the knives being launched at her, pulling her arm up to block her face. However, instead of feeling sharp pain strike through her limbs, she heard the voice of Matthew. She blinked a couple of times, looking up to him before her facial expression dropped. "I shoulda known he had something to do with this..." She murmured, shuffling back a little and then slowly lowering her gun to the floor. She suddenly felt a block of wood drop onto her lap and cringed slightly at the impact on her leg. She gritted her teeth for a moment, taking the wood and then looking up to Matthew, eyes widening at the sword. "What the fuck, you just carry that thing around with you?!" She exclaimed to Matthew, bringing her bleeding knee to her chest and sitting by a railing to a nearby metal stairway, hand wrapping around one of the bars as she pulled herself to her feet. "Next thing you're going to tell me that you're secretly a ninja or something..." She mused, watching Matthew and Bryce with confused eyes.

Bryce looked at him strangely. How did he know her name. "Um, do I know you?" she looked him up and down, "Strange boy." Then he pulled out his sword-like knife. That struck her memory.

"Oh, you," she grinned, "You're the little prick who betrayed me. What's your name again? Marty? Michael? Whatever." She pulled out two more knives. Bryce sighed and shook her head saying, "You know, I could have killed your girlfriend before you showed up. Typical Melvin. Late to the party as usual."

She giggled a little and then, without warning, charged at him. She stabbed at his calves and held the other knife ready to block the bolo knife. The whole time, she was smiling. A certain light had returned to her eyes. She loved a good fight with someone who knew how to. It was wonderful fun!

Matthew spun as she let go, catching the kick in his side. It was a stinging blow, but he'd had worse so he didn't let it stop him. By the time she'd regained her stance, His long knife was under his arm and poised for attack, sitting no more than an inch from her stomach. "Make no mistake Bryce. I'm not one of them anymore. As much as I'd love to run you through right now though, I won't. Why? Simply for the sake of appearance at this point. I'm not some homicidal maniac like you. Next time you make a move against my ward, I'll bring you down so fast, you'll crack the pavement when you land. Got it?" He motioned for Levi to toss him the top half of the bat. "And for future reference, it's Matthew."

Levi wasn't looking at Matthew when he had gestured for the top half of the bat. Instead, she had hobbled a little way down the alleyway and was now bashing her head against the wall and trying to break out of what she thought was a dream. It was all too surreal to her to be a dream. There was no way that Matty boy was a badass and carried around a sword with him quite casually. That and the fact someone had almost killed her had kinda shocked her a little. That close to having a dagger dig deep into her eye. It wasn't a pleasant thought.

The Brunette turned, pushing her back against the brick wall of the alleyway and sliding down it. She put the wooden top to Matthew's sword on the ground and rested her head against her knees, closing her eyes and breathing in slowly and then letting it out slowly. "...I wanna know who drugged my coffee..." She murmured to herself, running one hand through her hair and then holding the other hand over where she had been cut on her leg, cringing slightly at the sensitivity. "Or whoever has taken my voodoo doll..."

Matthew sighed and set the back end of his blade on the ground, trailing it behind him as he walked. As he neared Levi, he could just barely hear her mutter something about drugged coffee and voodoo dolls. Not a good sign. He knelt down on one knee, first picking up the top half the bat and sliding it back over the sword and then extending his arm out to her. "Come on Lil- Levi. Let's get you fixed up. Just take my hand and I'll do the rest all right?" Looking her over, he sighed, all ready regretting what he was about to do with a sigh. "If you want, you could stay over at my place up town while you recover. Maybe teach you some krav maga or something." As much as he hated the thought of housing his ward, especially this one, but he had to make sure she didn't die on him.

Levi slowly looked up to Matthew, debating whether or not this was actually happening and whether she should turn it away. But right now, in this kind of state she was in, she didn't think dealing with it herself was a good idea. She sighed gently and then reached up and grabbed Matthew's hand. "I don't have a fucking clue what Krav Maga is... But... as long as you don't mind." She sighed gently. "I won't stay too long. I'll just get my leg fixed and I'll be gone." She said with a small nod. She knew that being in the same place as this guy, she'd probably have to try and lay off the snide comments and try to keep her attitude down, purely to try and prevent them from killing each other. However, she was unsure as to how long she'd be able to keep that up without punching a wall.

Got myself into this, might as well grin and bear it. "It's no biggie. I'm the only one so it gets kind of stale after a while and there's more than enough space." He lifted her up and wrapped her arm around his shoulder slowly. "Don't get any ideas. You need to keep off that leg until we get it bandaged up and I figured that this'd be better than following me with a dead leg." He was prepared for her to punch him as he said that but hoped for the best. "So come on Levi, talk to me. Can't have you going into shock or something. What classes do you have this year?"
