Oh, How Mundane!

Oh, How Mundane!

0 INK

In this alternate Earth, the supernatural are now a thing of normality, most of the mythes and legends are true and even some of the relics from those tales float about the world, going from seller to buyer, which could be collectors or museums.

2,278 readers have visited Oh, How Mundane! since mbuick417 created it.

Introduction

ImageImage

It's Earth exactly as you know it, all the cities and countries are still the same. The historical timeline is near enough all the same, minus the addition of magic and the supernatural.

Image
ImageVampires
The Vampires are the most public and loved of the supernaturals, they have clubs set up as tourist attractions for people to go and gawk at them as if they were children at a petting zoo. Of course, not everybody agrees with the approach of such vampires, especially the elder vampire families and the religious humans.
The younger vampires relish in the idea that everybody around them is watching them and yearning to be like them. Whilst the elder families have many secrets, especially since the elder families have bloodlines with specific powers attached to them, such as telepathy, flight or even elemental control. However the bloodline with the elemental control are the most rare and reclusive, due to the volatile bloodline it is very rare for a human to handle the change.
Vampire Powers
The vampires are extremely fast and strong, these two abilities increase with every hundred years of a vampires life. They also have enhanced senses and when a human has a drop of their blood it provides the human with a slight increase in their healing capabilities and provides a link between the human and the vampire, allowing the vampire to sense the human's feelings and if they are in danger, also allows the human to call them until the blood leaves the human's system, if a human and vampire love each other they tend to share blood on a regular basis.
Vampire Weaknesses
These vampires are extremely vulnerable to sunlight, however the draining of a pure blood fae may provide an immunity for a few hours, yet the fae are very difficult to find and even more difficult to subdue. They are also highly allergic to silver, a silver chain will actually hold down the vampire and prevent them from moving due to the searing pain it causes.

ImageWerewolves
The werewolves are the most feral and elusive, however they can be found at bars and pubs specific to them. Tourists can often be found dandling in by accident, although the werewolves are usually very warm and inviting, they would never turn anyone away and often invite the mundane in with open arms. However, there are also the feral nomadic packs, who believe that the wolves should be one with nature and as such stick to forests and tundra, however the adventurers or hikers that happen across these packs is a dead one and it has caused some problem for the mainstream werewolves.
Whilst the mainstreamers tend to be kind and warm, when the full moon casts its glow, they lose all control and join their feral brothers in the forests and tundra, they will attack and eat anything within sight, most cities nowadays have lock-in communities for the werewolves.
Werewolf Powers
The werewolves much like the vampires have increased strength and agility, as well as an enhanced healing factor. The senses of a werewolf are second to none, even the vampires can't compete with their senses. When a werewolf falls in love, they imprint on whoever they love and regardless of whether shifted or not they will never turn or hurt the lover and will always come to their aid. The Lycans can also control their shifting and rage, they have so much control over their shifting that with enough training they can even prevent shifting at all during a full moon.
Werewolf Weaknesses
These werewolves have no control when they shift, unless they are of a pure bloodline, as in they come from a mother and father who were also born as werewolves, but this is a very rare occurrence and are known as Lycans. They are vulnerable to silver and the even rarer wolfsbane, however the SPD have their own suppliers and growers of the poison.

FaeImage
The Fae are the embodiments of nature and are the most in tune with the world around them, and as such they are the most powerful elemental manipulators. They tend to stick to themselves but with their history as major enemies to humanity, due to their monarchies superior elitism, they deemed themselves greater than the humans and believed they should rule over them as masters and slaves, however they didn't anticipate the humans resilience and their allegiance with the other supernaturals. It was this war that forced them to flee back to their home dimension and only visit on rare occasions. The Fae families who have hybrid descendants tend to jump between worlds, teaching the descendants about their powers and providing protection for them.
Fae Powers
The fae are extremely gifted elementals, their elemental gift is tied to the season they are born in. The Fae born within Spring hold their powers within earth and the plants, and the Autumn fae are the air and weather benders. Whilst the Winter fae are gifted with water and darkness and Summer are powerful fire and light manipulators. The pure Fae can also open portals which lead to other dimensional planes.
Fae Weaknesses
The Fae are weak to their brethren powers, for example, earth is weak to fire which is weak to water and water is vulnerable to the winds. The Fae are also very vulnerable to Iron and their blood has such a sweet scent that it attracts a lot the other supernaturals to them, making them vulnerable to attacks due to them being physically weaker than the other supernaturals.

WitchesImage
The witches are considered the most powerful of the human supernaturals, due to the fact that with enough focus and power they can alter the very fabrics of reality and even remove entire beings or points of time from existence, however the only witches with such powers are the Sister of Fate and they are the only three who can even read their grimoire as it comes from the ancient island of Atlantis and they are the only Atlantians left on Earth, the rest of the surviving Atlantians fled to Olympus, as far as we know, many Atlantian's may have even went into hiding.
The family grimoire is one of the witches greatest relics and so they all have certain protective measures placed on them so as no one but the family can even go near it. However, the witches do provide services to the general public and have the most standing in the world due to their history with the mundanes, such as the Witch trials, and still managing to over come it, regardless of the discrimination and hatred thrown towards them.
Witches Powers
The witches powers are the most diverse and most powerful of the magics, however they can only perform a spell that is contained within their family grimoire, so every time a spell is added to the grimoire, the family gains the ability to use that spell or brew that potion. The rune witches are all contained within one family and one coven, these runes range from the most basic of things to summoning a simple paper clip to pausing time itself.
Witches Weaknesses
The witches are limited to what spells are contained within their grimoire and the passing of spells and potion knowledge can be very gruelling and takes an awful lot of energy from the witches involved. The witches are only humans with magic in their blood and so are vulnerable to the same things as a normal human, with the exception of the Sisters of Fate who are actually the Greek Goddesses named the Fates.

DragonsImage
The race that was least favoured by the humans, hunted and killed for their precious scales, mountains of gold and even their magical blood. From Treasure Hunters to Knights to even Dragon Hunters, Dragons have always been hunted out of fear, desire and even power, so the Dragons evolved, they became visibly smaller and soon started to even take human shape, whilst retaining their distinct snake eyes, sharp claws and teeth, with the ability to return to their true magnificent form. However when these humanoid disguises scared the humans more, the dragons had to call upon most of their magic to make them appear completely human, with the cost of their magnificent form and their magic blood. Now the modern dragons are only shells of their former selves, capable of shifting into their dragon form, the largest dragon in the modern day recorded is still smaller than an Elephant.
Dragons Powers
The Dragons retain their ability to turn into their true form, but due to the magic they called upon to make the descendant more human, the dragons give up their truly magnificent forms for smaller, slightly weaker versions of themselves, they also have the ability to partly shift between, giving them access to their razor like claws and teeth, their scaled skin which acts as a sort of armour. Whilst in their human form, they are immune to extreme temperatures and can even walk through fire without any pain, their human breath may also be heated to such an extreme that it ignites and they breathe fire, they are also exceptionally strong and have enhanced senses on par with the vampires.
Dragons Weaknesses
The Dragons are weak to special blades forged from gold and either dipped into Dragon's blood, coated in Dragon's Bane or even a certain spell placed upon the blade during it's forging makes the blade more powerful and does not need the blood, however only 3 witches are aware of the spell and as such only three such swords are blessed with the spell. As well as this, another Dragon's blood is highly poisonous to a Dragon, whilst it wouldn't kill them, it would severely weaken them and leave them vulnerable. Due to them losing their most of their magic because of their ancestors, it has left the dragons weaker to magic attacks, causing a lot of the Dragons to become slaves to the Winter Fae.

DeitiesImage
The first Immortals, the Deities are dimensional travellers who through their power created this reality, the multiple pantheons, such as Greek, Norse and Chinese, pulled all their powers together to create such a universe, each creating a specific segment, for example, Aphrodite, Freyja and Yue-Lao created love, whilst Zeus, Lei-Kung and Taranis created the skies and weather. With a lot of their magic put into the creation of the universe, the gods all returned to their respective realms in which they watched humanity safely from their respective realms, however the Greek deities created Atlantis to govern Earth and the humans over, however once the fae opened their portal and tried to assume control over the humans, this started a war between the gods and fae which took place on Atlantis and in the Fae realm, but by the end the Fae had destroyed Atlantis and forced the Atlantians to flee back to Olympus and reside there. However, many of the Olympians and demi-gods didn't follow Zeus and the others, causing them to live normal lives as denizens of Earth.
Deities Powers
The Deities have the purest of magic, but a lot of this magic was lost when they created the world and this left them with only a fraction of their power, the power of which they helped create the most, since a lot of the magic recharged as such things increased. The demigods have at least one gift from their parental god. The gods mostly disguise themselves as witches due to being so diverse and the most powerful beings, with only the Fae being able to compete with them. Rumours are that even the Norse gods are running around, Loki and Freyja especially.
Deities Weaknesses
Silver is a metal which is very poisonous to the Deities and their children, silver leaks through the portals between the dimensions and is poisonous to anyone who has ever travelled through a portal between the realms, also most weapons from their respective realms are very much dangerous to them, simply because these weapons are specifically crafted to slay the native species within that realm.

Toggle Rules

All the basic rules apply to this RP with a few additions

1. If you wish a certain supernatural creature to play as just PM me with some basic info, weaknesses and powers and I shall add it to the description above :3
2. If there are any disputes OOC and it can't be sorted, I'd be more than happy to provide an unbiased few point and help to sort the issue
3. There will be a warning, strike and final kick, when it comes to meta-gaming, bunnying and God modding, you will have 2 chances to redeem yourself before I kick.
4. This is an open RP, it is your story within an Alternate universe, in which the fantasy and mundane world are one and all the social media of our times are about and all the creatures of the fantasy worlds are pretty much out and about, even using these social medias.
5. Swear and Loving, keep it to PG, pretty please. You can swear just not every other word, I mean it's not Snakes on a Plane, and romance and love are encouraged it is your story, just fade it to black or even keep it creative, like a vampire or werewolf getting summoned when they are in the middle of making out with summon, keeps it humorous and PG.
6. You are open to create a Character Sheet yourself, so long as it includes a name, age, species, face claim with a few gifs and family history, the family history is very important especially for Witches and Vampires, Personality and Personal History are optional but if done at least three lines, pretty please?
However if requested I will make one :3

Nora's expression was solemn and gave no hints of the emotional storm beneath the calm as she listened to the supposedly "Free" dragon speak. Granted, he could be a spy. The Queen could have planted such special dragons to sniff out disloyalty in her ranks--and punish those who failed the test. Yet, something in this creature's mannerisms and perhaps even in his scent made her believe him. Nora felt torn. If what this dragon said was true--and not all Dragons were born to serve the Queen--then her whole life, everything she knew, was a lie. That thought sent a shiver of fear into her scales, and a small nervous growl rumbled in her belly.

"If you want to find out what life could be like without your souls shackled to those little pricks hiding off in the fae realm, you should seriously consider seeking me out. Anymore questions, love?"

Absently, Nora rubbed at her wrists where her scarred morph showed glimmers of blue dragon flesh. In her mind, she could hear the click of the shackles, feel the walls on either side of her shoulders, not even enough room to turn around in. Nora silently regarded the dragon before her, eyes hard and wary. She was silent a long time, thinking before she spoke again.

"My name is Nora--not "Sweetie" or "Love"...and yes, I have a question or two." Nora's expression suddenly gentled. "I have no wish to rule the world. Nor wealth. But...a life without shackles..." Nora gave a small, sad chuckle. "Could such a thing even be possible?" Nora's expression hardened again, tucking away the small glimmer of hope for the moment. "Who are you?"

Of course Lazarus was now amused. He gestured for them to start walking down the sidewalk, the steam finally dissipating from his nose as he felt slightly more relaxed. At least she was willing to listen to him this time, and not be all little miss soldier. He would glance around with a slight paranoia before glancing at her and proceeding to answer her questions now.

"Of course it's possible. Don't you know the legends? Our ancestors were great, we ruled the world back in the very dark ages, even further back. We were the wealthiest creatures and could rarely be killed. You really think we were born into slavery by some treacherous fae that thinks she is a queen?" He tilted his head at her, hoping she could actually process this through her head which was probably emotionally beaten into some sort of submission."I know that Queen Mab is ruthless, I know she's probably scarred you in more ways then just mentally. Is that really what you think you're meant to do? A creature as wonderful, as you?" His eyebrow raised, trying to read her expression. While she mulled that over, he began his introduction.

"My name is Lazarus Steele. I am of a long line of dragons. My parents were hunted quite a few decades back. I became the CEO of Steel&Parker after meeting with a vampire scientist who created the most popular brand of synthetic blood among the Mundane world." He explained, actually sounding a bit cocky as he spoke, certainly pleased with himself at the fact he was on top for once. He turned the corner with her, heading off towards his large house on the nice looking hill near the big city. "Right now, I'm taking a sabbatical. A much needed one." He explained, glancing over at her with his eyes shimmering intensely.

Hesitantly, Nora followed the "Free" Dragon when he gestured. He suddenly seemed as nervous as she felt.

"Of course it's possible. Don't you know the legends? Our ancestors were great, we ruled the world back in the very dark ages, even further back. We were the wealthiest creatures and could rarely be killed. You really think we were born into slavery by some treacherous fae that thinks she is a queen? I know that Queen Mab is ruthless, I know she's probably scarred you in more ways then just mentally. Is that really what you think you're meant to do? A creature as wonderful, as you?"

Nora had never heard such legends. She knew the Queen had overcome her people before she was hatched. She knew the Queen had taken it into her heart to allow her people to live if they agreed to bend the knee to her. But she had never heard of her people's greatness, nor invincibility. Though--she was well aware that not all dragons were born into their servitude as she was. The Elders in the Caves spoke in whispers of the days before their capture. Days where sunlight was not to rare, where space was a given, where meat was plentiful and fresh. But Nora had always thought it was just a dream now. Just a whispered story for Elders to speak of in secret.

Nora felt a tug somewhere deep in her marrow when her called her a "wonderful creature". Like a knee-jerk reaction she felt the words they were taught at hatching rise up in her mind: I am one of many. We are many of nothing. We are given life by the Queen and in turn we give our life to her whim. It has always been so. It will always be so.

Nora struggled with his compliment, biting her tongue to keep the words from spilling out like a well-versed prayer. She focused on his words instead, rolling his name in her mind like a marble. Lazarus Steele. She realized that they were heading toward a hill, and the smell of magics was fading behind them. She felt her throat tighten suddenly, as if an invisible chain were wrapped there, and someone was pulling at the other end. It was a sensation she had never known before. And it made her steps feel heavy and cold. What was this?

Nora tried to ignore it, but felt herself go pale with the effort. She tried to return Lazarus's amused expression, but it came out more like a wince. Unbidden her thoughts returned to the mission. If she did not return soon with the required magics, then...her scales prickles as if she were already in the small cell. The cold, damp, small cell.

"Mr. Steele..." Nora's words came out more like a strangled gasp for air. Her eyes suddenly whirled gold and black with fright, a hand stroking her throat as if seeking the unseen chain. "I had never heard such things before...and I would love to hear more but...I am terribly sorry, Ser--but I feel I cannot continue on with you in this direction..." She gasped, taking a few wobbly steps backward. The pressure on her throat lessened slightly as she stepped back, and Nora gratefully sucked in fresh air. The scent of magics returned with the breath. She could not go any farther than the magics...Nora realized. Her taste of freedom was all a lie. Even here..she was in shackles. Nora felt the hope she tucked away earlier fade.

"Mr. Steele..." Nora's words came out more like a strangled gasp for air. Her eyes suddenly whirled gold and black with fright, a hand stroking her throat as if seeking the unseen chain. "I had never heard such things before...and I would love to hear more but...I am terribly sorry, Ser--but I feel I cannot continue on with you in this direction..."

Lazarus felt irritation pile up in his gut. He should of just shoved this female dragon into an alley way and kept going beforee finding more information about him. Now he would surely have to relocate. He rolled his eyes, rubbing the bridge of his nose hard as steam once again shot from his nostrils and he moved closer to her, his own bright gold wings suddenly stabbing from his back and shadowing both of them from the sun, they were so large. His eyes changed to a serpent like form, his teeth sharpening as he growled lowly at her, his blood starting to boil again as he kept walking towards her with a look of disappointment and disgust.

"I shall warn you now, Nora Silverwing, that this is now or never. If you want to break your chains, you come with me. If you don't, you will not see me again and if you do, it will not be on good circumstances. Because if you do not come with me, you will go to your superior because your will is to weak to make choices for yourself. And I am not about to become a hallow husk as all the other dragons you work with have. That is not the life for a dragon." He would take a step back from her, several people staring with blank eyes as he would quickly allow his wings to fold back into his body, his eyes fading and taking a few steps away from her.

"Now or never, Miss Silverwing. Make your choice wisely. I will be relocating if I know you are going back. I will not take the chances of your slipping up about me." He narrowed his eyes at her and began to retreat back home, her cue waiting. If she came with him, he wouldn't have to worry. If he didn't, he would. And he didn't want to worry about Queen Mab. This was his vacation, damn it. No fae should ruin it for him.

Nora was panting softly from the strange chain as Lazarus came toward her, golden wings unfolding and steam rising from his nose. At least he had a dragon's temper. She remained frozen in place as he spoke to her, eyes locked desperately with his.

I am not weak! She wanted to scream. But she felt it was a lie. Her fear made her weak. And she hated it. And she would never wish it on anyone. Not this life. Not when freedom was an option.

"Now or never, Miss Silverwing. Make your choice wisely. I will be relocating if I know you are going back. I will not take the chances of your slipping up about me." He began to retreat in the opposite direction.

Nora hated to be rushed when thinking. Panting, and growling in frustration, she paced the invisible line between the magics and Lazarus--between the Queen and freedom. Smoke puffed from her nose in her agitation, and her eyes boiled to a bloody red. Her growls became low rumbling roars, like a cadged animal.

I am one of many. We are many of nothing. We are given life by the Queen and in turn we give our life to her whim. It has always been so. It will always be so.

But would it really always be so? And if Lazarus could help her--perhaps her could help the others. If the Queen learned of her abandonment--it would mean death, cramped cells, and torment. But--was a real taste of the open air, a real taste of freedom worth that possibility? And if her whole life there was a lie--what was the truth of her being? Only Lazarus would ever offer her the chance of truth.

This was possibly the most unwise decision she had ever made.

With a snarl her wings ripped from her shoulders, their blue scales sparkling like sapphires and their membranes casting a water-like reflection across the ground. With a short running start she sprung across the invisible barrier as fast as she could--and was nearly flung backwards by the force of the invisible icy chain around her throat pulling taut. As if true chains were there, red welts began to appear around her pale throat, angry and deep. Still she threw herself forward, smoke puffing from her nose, dust flying behind her as she forced herself forward. Ruts of dirt piled up around her sandals as she yanked forward, struggling with the invisible icy chain. She beat her wings furiously backwards, flinging her head side to side like a dog struggling from it's leash. Nora clawed at her throat, wishing she could pull the chain away with her strength--but she only succeeded in making herself bleed. Enraged by her struggle, she let out a piercing screech, fire belching from her lips as she beat the air with her wings, pulling and pulling--her muscles bunching beneath her tank top with the effort.

Nora gave one final push, her strong wings lifting her from the ground with their force--the invisible chain tightened--her throat closed and lights danced before her eyes. She found herself thinking--I will strangle myself to death before I am free. From somewhere deep in her belly, another desperate belch of fire sprung forth--and suddenly the chain went slack. Nora was flung away from the scent of magics, toward the retreating form of Lazarus, gasping painful breaths into her scorched lungs before she hit the ground. Hard. She felt herself skid across the dirt over rocks and found herself on her back, staring up into Lazarus's face. She was smiling, pointed teeth bared--but her eyes were black as coals.

"I am not...weak-willed..." Nora coughed up at him, voice hoarse from being choked. "But I would be lying to you if I said that was a wise choice..." A black line--like frostbite had appeared around her throat. Shakily, she got to her feet, swaying before him. "I would also be lying to you if I did not tell you that others will come for me...I am sorry if I am ruining your...sabbatical..." Nora wondered what that meant--but it did seem of great import to him. "But--if you lead, I shall follow Mr Steele...and I will not welch on a debt."

Lazarus stared as she went through her struggle; apparently it was harder then he expected, as if chains were actually holding her back from taking a few more steps towards a chance at another life, extremely different from the one she had. He tilted his head, watching how hard she was struggling, the pain and the tension that was holding even her physical being back. He watched as fire spurted from her mouth, her wings taking flight as she fought and pulled; he admired her effort. He blinked a few times, staying firm in his position. If she couldn't break free herself, he couldn't help her. The only thing he did was give her the push.

Finally she fell forward, staring up at him with a smile and gasping for air as he tilted his head the other way at her, rubbing his chin thoughtfully when she spoke to him with faint breath and raspy voice from the seemingly invisible chains that had been holding her throat prisoner. But she had done it, trying to get back on her feet and hold her position as he grabbed her arm to help her balance and then pointed to the line on her neck. Obviously it was some sort of magic put there by the queen, restraints that affected mentality and physical being. How cold. How ruthless. How... Queen Mab. Heartless Queen of death.

"The fact that you actually did it impresses me greatly, Nora. I didn't think you had it in you." He said with a smirk before letting go of her arm. His hand was as hot as fire, leaving a slight implant on her skin as he tilted his head at her. "Tell me, have you ever actually eaten mortal food? Or... really explored the modern world of humans? Because from the looks of it, you were programmed for missions and don't seem like you have had a lot of fun. That's the first step in creating a new life. You need to know what's out there, waiting for you." He inquired, circling her again but with a more playful manner then anything. He offered a smile towards her, gold eyes glimmering as he admired her wings and processed the shape. All dragon wings were different, even if it was only a slight change in the physical biology. He waited for her response, running his hand through his messy hair.

Nora was grateful for Lazarus's warm strong grip steadying her. She felt wobbly and exhausted--as if newly hatched. She snorted a puff of proud smoke at him through her nose at his comment on being impressed. She was not so weak. Not truly. Not anymore.

"Tell me, have you ever actually eaten mortal food? Or... really explored the modern world of humans? Because from the looks of it, you were programmed for missions and don't seem like you have had a lot of fun. That's the first step in creating a new life. You need to know what's out there, waiting for you." Lazarus circled her excitedly, smiling. Nora felt herself growing somewhat flustered. She was unsure if she preferred his arrogant demeanor to this kinder, playful one. She was unused to any positive attention and it made her feel like hiding. Her pale cheeks suddenly felt warmer than usual--but then again it could just be the after effects of nearly hanging herself to escape.

Nora tucked her arrow-shaped wings in gently against her back, feeling suddenly bashful of the way Lazarus looked at them, and of the stares she was getting from the slowly forming crowd of mortal onlookers. At the time--she hadn't even thought about what that must look like to mortal eyes. But now--the amount of eyes on her made her wary. Nora dragged her attention back to Lazarus, her eyes whirling a curious pale blue and green.

"I--have rarely eaten in this world. Only once or twice on long missions--but it was usually an animal I caught. Those little fluffy-tailed mice creatures are quite tasty roasted. And they are often plentiful." Nora replied, looking thoughtful. "As for exploring--not much, I suppose. We are given strict orders and cannot stray far from our route...as you can see.." Nora rubbed absently at the slowly healing black welt at her throat. "So...I suppose...I know little of this world...i do not even know where I should begin.." She realized aloud. Nervously she chewed her bottom lip. This was truly, not a wise decision. With a strange dragon, in a strange world, full of strange creatures...she was unsure if she should be frightened or elated. She looked to Lazarus with her head tilted, some of her short bangs falling across her forehead. "Can you teach me of this world, Mr. Steele?"

She looked to Lazarus with her head tilted, some of her short bangs falling across her forehead. "Can you teach me of this world, Mr. Steele?"

"Teach you of this world? Of course. I've lived in the modern world for a long time, Miss Silverwing. I've seen it grow, make mistakes... decades have gone by and these mortals have changed in so many ways. I know more then most, I would assume."
Again, his cocky attitude game out a bit as he gave her a smug smirk and then gestured down the sidewalk again, leading her back towards his home. The large mansion on the hill, as if a chunk of the city had been removed and replaced by a large lawn of bright green, lighting up that section with the other buildings pretty far away from it when they finally arrived on the outskirts. He rarely grew winded from walking. Dragons had very high levels of stamina.

"So. You eat rodents when you're here. That's... lovely.Of course Lazarus was being sarcastic and it was apparent she liked meat. He smiled at that thought; of course all dragons enjoyed meat. He glanced over at her, observing her appearance for another moment longer before straying closer to the large iron gate in front of his house. On the side was of course, a speaker with a button to gain entrance into his home. "But, I can certainly provide something much more elaborate then roasted mice. And I can certainly inform you and show you the wonders of the mortal world. Perhaps you can start somewhere new, in another country or across this one, far away and find something new? I am not certain but I will help you find your way. Besides, this gives me something to do then walk around to burger joints and pick fights with stubborn werewolves." He glanced at her, offering a grin before he pressed the button on the speaker to the gate and flipping his hair from his golden face.

"Hello?" Daniel's voice rang through the speaker.
"Daniel,it's Lazarus. I have a guest with me. Open up the gates, would you?" The gates suddenly pushed open, and Lazarus led Nora up the long curved driveway to the large front door with fancy lights on the finished porch. He offered her to go inside first, smiling politely at her and seeing Daniel coming down from the second floor through the glass windows that lined every wall somewhere on each floor.

Nora listened intently as Lazarus spoke of this knowledge of the mortal realm, walking along behind him. She was limping--that fall had been harder than she would have liked--but it would right itself in short time. Probably within the hour.

"So. You eat rodents when you're here. That's... lovely." Lazarus seemed to disagree with her choice of meals--but her stomach didn't. At the mention of the rodents, her stomach complained loudly as if voicing an argument with Lazarus. Nora focused on the house looming ahead and hoped that Lazarus hadn't heard it.

The gate in front of the house made Nora think of the Caves--though the bars of her cell were not nearly as pretty and decorative. She felt herself growling lowly at the gates, nervous of them. She watched as Lazarus pushed something on a device in front of the gate, which was followed by a crackling sound. Curiously, Nora leaned toward the sound--only to nearly leap out of her skin when a voice suddenly bellowed through. Smoke puffed from her nose as she growled at the strange voice--what kind of magic was this? But Lazarus seemed unfazed by the voice and answered it, calling the voice Daniel. Perhaps this truly was a trap--and this would be the facade for her new confinement. Before she could think to flee, the gates were opening and Lazarus was heading up the walkway. Hesitantly, Nora followed him, eying the front door. If a swarm of guards rushed out of there she would fly upwards and away from here as fast as she could.

Instead of guards--as they walked onto the porch, only one man stood behind the door. Lazarus smiled at her and held the door, gesturing for her to go first. Nora balked warily in the doorway, taking her time to inhale deeply, sniffing for any sign of danger or of fae...she could only smell Lazarus beside her. His smell seemed to permeate from the whole building. If this were a trap--it was certainly elaborate...

With a shy glance at Lazarus, she stepped across the threshold. Nora tensed, waiting for something to happen--but nothing did. She felt herself relax a little, exhaling softly. Small nervous puffs of smoke curled from her nostrils as she glanced around.

"Is this...your home?" Nora asked Lazarus sheepishly.

"Is this.... your home?"

"One of them, yes. I decided instead of going on some super expensive trip to some country I've most likely already been to a dozen times already, that right here in New York was a nice place to try. Or maybe I'm just looking for stupid parties."
He remarked, leading her into the kitchen as Daniel came down the stairs and smiled at both of them, giving Lazarus an eyebrow. "Welcome, back. And who would be your guest you have with you, if I may inquire?" Daniel asked, tilting his head at Nora with a questioning look. Lazarus never brought a woman to his house, never. Obviously Daniel was slightly amused at this sudden change.

"This would be Nora Silverwing. We met on the sidewalk and had some interesting discussions about her current path in life. But I thought she could use a safe haven for the moment. And I believe..." Lazarus glanced at Nora as her stomach started to complain and offered a playful smirk. "That she is hungry. Why don't you make her a giant steak, huh? If you like mice, you'll definitely like this." Lazarus walked into the kitchen, gesturing Nora to take a seat at the bar near the stoves where he had attempted to cure his hangover earlier. "Daniel would roll his eyes, shaking his head as he went through the kitchen and out the back to the grill.

"I have so many guest rooms in this house. You're more then welcome to stay here until you find your way." Lazarus said to Nora, getting up and swinging by the fridge to grab a beer. He uncapped it and started chugging, thirsty from that long walk, and took a seat on the stool again and checking his phone quickly before sliding it across the counter.

"If you don't mind me asking, what possessed you to open a portal by yourself? And how did you even learn to? Usually, only the oldest fae can do that."
Chanter smiled. "I am a Keeper, We keep the balance in OtherWorld, so I was trained in mana manipulation since my birth. This was an independent study, I grant you." She said with a laugh. She looked at him and wondered. [color=teal][b]"You should know what a Spring Keeper is? How long have you been away from OtherWorld?" She asked as she sat herself up on a desk covered in books as she watched the flame he created. "I could teach you, if you like, you seemed skilled enough in the ways of Mana."

Nora felt somewhat embarrassed from being so anxious--though better safe than sorry. She followed him further into the house, tilting her head curiously toward the one called "Daniel" as he looked at them oddly.

Nora stiffly thumped her right fist against her chest and bowed a little salute as Lazarus gave her name to the man. Old habits die hard. She felt her pale cheeks flush when Lazarus mentioned she was hungry. Looks like he heard her stomach after all. Bashfully, she followed his lead and sat on the tall round stools, wondering what kind of an animal "steak" was. But food was food, and she would not shy away from a meal.

"I have so many guest rooms in this house. You're more then welcome to stay here until you find your way." Lazarus told her. Nora's wide eyes got even wider at this.

"Truly?" She asked, gaping in disbelief. "Are you certain that it is alright for me to stay with you? That is....just so much..." Nora was struck by his generosity. It was rare to encounter a Dragon that would share his space with another--never mind, another dragon that they barely know. That was unheard of.

I am one of many. We are many of nothing. We are given life by the Queen and in turn we give our life to her whim. It has always been so. It will always be so.

The words came to her like a bucket of ice water had been tossed over her head. Her eyes whirled a worried green and gold. They would come for her. They would search. She gazed at Lazarus, feeling a pang of guilt....they would hurt him. Perhaps worse. Nervously she chewed on her bottom lip.

"They will come searching for me...my brothers in armored scales..." Nora told him flatly. Her eyes had gone a solemn steel blue. "If I remain here...I will put you in danger..." She said, voice soft. "You are kind...and I do not desire to see you in chains... She nervously rain her slender hands through her messy short hair, making it look more prickly. She would have to leave this place...knowing nothing of this world she had escaped to... and it was difficult for her not to be nervous. "Once I am a bit recovered,I should best leave this place. It would not sit right with me to get the only kind dragon I have ever known slain." Nora gave Lazarus the ghost of a smile.

""Once I am a bit recovered,I should best leave this place. It would not sit right with me to get the only kind dragon I have ever known slain.""

He took another long swig of his beer, the smell of cooking steak seeping into his nose as he watched Daniel outside on the patio attending to the steak. He glanced back at Nora; his gold eyes shimmering brightly as he busted out laughter and put the beer on the table, looking over at her with an amused grin."I have avoided countless attempts on my life. You think I'm afraid? I don't mean to brag, but not only am I a dragon, I am part of the high golden dragon bloodline. Sure, we shrunk like all the other dragons but we have just a little more oomph. "
He grinned at her, flicking his hair from his eyes again before shrugging to her with that casual grin of his. "It is difficult to wound us, let alone enslave us. We would rather die then be someone else's bitch. " He spat that just a little more viciously, thinking about the Queen and the stories he had heard and obviously, what he had just witnessed with Nora. He had promised himself he would die with honor and in his own way, before submitting to anyone, even someone else's blade.

"Plus, my house is magic proof with runes. Being a CEO has it's perks. I found some of the best witches in the country. But if you would like to move on, Nora Silverwing, I would not dare to stop you. Just remember, you have a place here if you need one. I have not seen a dragon in decades, and I would not give up the chance to engage with one so easily. Even someone who was on the run." With that note, he gave a kind smile and put a hand on her shoulder to squeeze it softly before he finished off his beer and rested it on the counter and rummaging through the cutlery drawer and put a steak knife and a fork in front of her as Daniel walked back inside with a giant steak sitting on a fancy looking plate, steaming and sizzling hot. It was a bit more rare then a human would like, and he slid it across the Nora as Lazarus leaned against the wall with his arms crossed.

“As brilliant as I consider myself, I don’t know much about the Other World. I’ve never been there. I was born here and felt no desire to see it; nothing was pulling me to it. So, to answer your question exactly, 350 years. And, though it pains me to admit this, I do not know exactly what a Spring Keeper is.” James mused just as the tea kettle began to screech. He closed his eyes to listen to it for a moment before hopping out of his chair to take it off of the stove. He closed his hand into a fist and the flame was snuffled out. He quickly prepared the tea and then offered a cup to Chanter. "It'll help you recover your strength." He explained.

Nora's eyes went wide, whirling in perplexed oranges, at the sound of Lazarus's laugh. Had he gone mad? Yet, it seemed he had escaped death many a time, and he was literally laughing in the face of danger. Not to mention--he was evidently prepared.
Nora crinkled her nose as she inhaled deeply, trying to pick out the scent of magic--but to no avail. Again, all she could smell was the forged steel scent of her new companion.

Nora felt her pale cheeks flush when Lazarus smiled and gently squeezed her shoulder in welcome. She was awed into silence. This dragon would keep her safe...but why? Was it really because as he said he, "wanted the chance to engage" with another dragon? What could she possibly offer someone like him? Certainly, not any knowledge. Nor wealth--as he seemed well off. She was still mulling this over when the scent of cooked meat drifted to her nose, making her mouth water. Daniel placed a plate with the Steak Animal before her. Lazarus had placed a pronged device and a knife in front of her--which she picked up gingerly in either hand. In the Caves they weren't given anything to eat with (nor very much to eat) and she was unaccustomed to using anything but her claws and teeth. But for the sake of her host--she would certainly try her damnedest.

Nora awkwardly stabbed the Steak Animal with the knife and prong, managing to free a ragged clump of meat from the rest. Proudly, she stuffed it into her mouth, savoring the new flavor. It was cooked so tenderly and with such juice that she couldn't help but smile. The expression lit up her usually serious face--making her look significantly younger if not almost childish. Usually, any food she ate was burned. The Elder's flames were much hotter than her own, and they did any cooking in the Caves. Nora turned to Daniel with a bright smile, eyes sparkling,

"Thank you so very much, Ser Daniel. It is perfectly done."

Gratefully, she stabbed and ate as much of the food before her as she was able, but it was far more rich than food she was used to and she soon grew full. Half of the meat was left when she put down the prong and knife, but her stomach poked out a little in it's fullness. She practically glowed in her contentment, like a cat in a patch of sunshine. She smiled sleepily at Lazarus, eyes glowing a sapphire blue that matched her scales. "I do not know how I will ever thank you for helping me. And sharing you meat and home.." Nora tipped her head thoughtfully, still mulling over how she could be of use to him. "I am in your debt."
