Olisses - Confined to a Lemmatorium

Every scientist on Soul is confined to a Lemmatorium. Slowly the people of Soul are going insane; learning that immortality is real, and people are able to perform surgery on abstract concepts such as energy, life and cleverness.

Introduction

Image

It is not far-fetched to state that Scientists have, in the past: conceeded to experiments gone horribly, horribly wrong. Not only in what is considered fiction: but in the real world

Not to blame the scientists for making the occasional blunder...

But they should never have messed with Einstein's identified fabric of time and space. Now spacial time distortion has allowed everything to happen at once in one specific area. The logistical nightmare that is a Lemmatorium. Someone has started to collect the bodies and minds of people and store them away in this place. Then several other Lemmatoriums popped up; following Platella's example. And people take to the idea of living forever and have set up little communities. The problem is: much of Soul's population, bar the friendly and benevolent but misguided scientists: still only exist on the memory of storage devices. Their body, mind and ironically: their soul have been digitised.

Now the scientists aim to reanimate many of the corpses by re implanting the lives that they took out of the bodies. Unaware of who committed such a fellonous act of removing them from being in the first place. It is not a race against time; it is a question of temporal logistics, because now time knows no bound once you are confined to a Lemmatorium. Your life is infinite and boundless when confined to a Lemmatorium. The amount of time perscribed to any one task are boundless when you're confined to a Lemmatorium. Looking in: the people outside can see nothing but a moral void. Looking out: the people of the Lemmatorium believe hope is truly dead if they are put in an androgynous cycle of never-death. They wonder if it will ever bore them; or whether life will just drive them more lunatic and fanatical as their continued existence is extended.

Toggle Rules

This roleplay allows for users to create surreal, disturbing or experimental writing as they please.

Golden rule

The whole idea the Lemmatorium is constructed around is that "everything happens at once" and that "there is only one time where all of the events occur on".

Applying This Logic to Different Places in the Lemmatorium
Feel free to skip any information about places you're not intending to go.

  • Records
Records are a type of place in this roleplay. They are rooms that are put in a Lemmatorium; the main type of room.
What you need to know about them: is that they're the safe zones in the story. It is the only place that you're not required to ask for permission to go into; which makes them a good starting place.
In Records: you can write about events that have happened ; bearing in mind that eveything in a record is happening at once.
The difference is that: everything that happens in a record is only recorded at the same time, and everything seems to happen one after another even if it actually happens at the same time. Anyone is granted permission to one of these rooms
  • The corridors outside of the Records

People have to ask for permission to leave out onto a corridor in the Lemmorium by speaking to a person with high authority.
In this part of the Lemmatorium everything appears to happen at the same time which means that people remember everything that happened here as if it all happened at once.
You cannot hear people when walking down this corridor and you develop temporary blindness until you exit the corridor.
You cannot pass by a point another person was walking at down the corridor, because the entity appears as a solid wall.
  • Surgeries

Surgeries are a place where supernatural extractions, transplants, destructions and inversion occur. There is also a rank called "Surgeries", which are a rank of people who have formed an occupation operating in them. In these surgeries: no one gets treated for realistic things like cancer, bronchitis, fever or kidney failure: they get treated for abstract concepts.
For instance, in a surgery: people can be treated for life removal, life transplants, life destruction, sex removal, sex transplants, sex inversion, fuse sexes, inserts for knowledge on a certain subject taken from someone else, fusing bodies together to create a new body, causing people to lose or gain energy: they don't operate on the organ or face itself to induce a sex change or an organ transplant; they operate on abstract concepts.
The time rules for this area are that everything appears to be happening one after the other; but are actually happening at the same time
  • Catering

In this area; time also operates as if one thing is happening after another, but are in fact happening in the same window of time.
This is where food can be prepared; the room is generally the best heated in a Lemmatorium because of all of the ovens and stoves. A larder is located towards the back, usually a large frozen room. There is a rule to have one stove per person; judging by the size of many of the cateries: it manages to provide for six people and aid them in producing sumptuous foodstuffs.

Inside the Lemmatorium
Inside the Lemmatorium: people don't have to eat. Also, they are only able to percieve with their mind. Because this dimension is abstract

Outside of the Lemmatorium

From the outside of the Lemmatorium; things happen one after another in a specific order. The same way time travels in our world.
Outside of the Lemmatorium: the Lemmatorium seems to have nothing going on inside of it; seeing nothing but void.

Currency

  • The in-roleplay currency is named "dimensions".
  • The ammount of dimensions a character can have cannot be less than 2
  • The ammount of dimensions a character can have cannot be more than 3
  • Any decimal between these numbers is acceptable. For instance: your character could have "2.213", "2.22222222", "2.0" or "3" dimensions.
  • To break it down; it can either be 2, 3, or any number that is in between the two.
  • To break it down: it cannot be less than 2 or more than 3; but it doesn't mean it has to be whole number.
  • It can have any number of decimal places
  • Even if it's a reccuring decimal
  • A character can lose dimensions and have dimensions stolen, unless it makes their dimension less than 2.
  • You can take dimensions from others until their dimension becomes 2 or your dimensions becomes 3

Characters
[*] Typically: your character can start as one of two things: A scientist (manager class) or one of the lives that have been inserted into a pendrive (citizen class). You may also roleplay as someone who doesn't have an involvement with the Lemmatorium .
[*] This is an idea for how to put a life into a body using one of the surgeries:
Life transplant into an inactive body- Puts a person's life into an inactive person's body. This gives the inactive body a life; and makes it active (functions with a life). In addition to giving the person a life: they also get the personality, illness, worldly ambition, likes and dislikes of that person (the person who owns the life in the body is the one who controls it).
Procedure: (note: the material "life" is a substance that fills 50cm of a container. It doesn't appear to be a gas: just a solid, flat colour that will settle in the nearest suitable container until it finds a host, and it must be touching the host's flesh (skin, tissue, organs etc.)

    1. Find a body that isn't occupied with a life.
    2. Take a conical flask that contains a life.
    3. Make sure no part of your body is exposed unless you're the one who you intend to use the life on (cover yourself in clothes; gloves, goggles, mask)
    4. Make sure there are no other suitable containers or receptacles for the life. (Make sure there are no other bodies or containers in the room you are working in).
    5. Take the withholder off the conical flask (i.e the rubber bung).
    6. Make sure part of the body you intend to use rhe life on is exposed.
    7. If all these steps are followed to a high degree of accuracy: proceed and move the conical flask intimate to the person's flesh (skin, tissue, organs etc)
    8. The life will be absorbed by the subject and gain life processes (things that all living things are required to do such as breathe) and gain worldly ambition, likes and dislikes and personality of that person (the person who manifests the life controls the body: the body is given the life and personality of the life).
    9. It is quite clear the patient will be in clear distress if you've inserted them into a body that is not theirs (i.e: if you have put a man's life inside a woman's body, and they didn't ask to be transferred into a woman: they will be distressed).

    • The global political philosophy of the planet is:Socialism.
    • It is considered normal to give people dimensions if they need them. As charity.
    • Society will turn against you if you deny this demand.
    • Before writing a character: try to imagine how a normal human being would react to everything happening at once. You must consider if it makes the person develop a fear of time, makes them neurotic, makes them feel safe because they'll never die, or makes them go insane with boredom by living for so long.
    • You're allowed to invent your own race or use any prexisting race that you want
    • This rp thrives on varied personality types.

Ranks

  • "Citizens"
"Citizens" are the lowest rank . They are granted no special powers.
"Citizens" can not participate in political debates
  • "Builders"
"Builders" are the third lowest rank. They are a rank where people can prove their competence to become a "Brave".. When asked to by managers: They are required to build new rooms in the Lemmatorium. If they complete five rooms to a high standard: they're allowed to progress to progress to the "Brave" rank. "Builders" are not given permission to leave or enter the Lemmatorium.
"Builders" cannot participate in political debates
  • "Managers"
The managers are the highest ranking. People can only become managers when they've allready achieved the rank of "Brave" and have also passed a "Manager test". Managers can issue the construction of rooms to builders and allow "Brave" permission to exit the Lemmatorium. They are also in charge of politcal debates.
  • "Surgeries"
"Surgeries" are the second highest rank. They progress to this rank by taking a "medical test" after they have achieved the "Brave" rank . They are responsible for the physical health of others and performing operations on patients. Every person, regardless of rank: is entitled to free operations and medical checkups. A list of surgeries will be put on an OOC page: "CONFINED TO A LEMMATORIUM >> OOC >> "Surgeries" operations" if you're considering this class.
"Surgeries" are allowed to participate in political debates.
  • "Caterers"
"Caterers" are the second lowest rank. They are given a kitchen in which to prepare food for the "Brave" to consume in the time they're out of the Lemmatorium. People achieve this rank by volunteering to make food and taking a catery course.
"Caterers" are not allowed to contribute to political disputes.
  • Why are there so many jobs in the Lemmatorium?
Some people spend their entire lives confined to a Lemmatorium, and so their needs must be catered for in the Socialist society; so long as they give back.
