I like to think I’m more than a pretty face..

The Basics

Full Name: Greher Gaiane Carmichael.
Age: Eighteen.
Birthdate: 4th of April.
Gender: Female.
Godly Parent: Aphrodite.

Personality

Favorites
Color: Marigold!
Food: Hey, I’m not picky.
Drink: Rum and Coke. I mean.. Diet Coke.
Music: Alternative. Oh and don’t tell anyone but I’m a sucker for jazz.

Greher is a bit of a goof-off who has the ability to be serious, if only she tried hard enough. Her crooked grin shows her wild and rambunctious side, which is her most usual persona. She is a curious creature with a heart of gold; she doesn't much like to hurt people. However her emotions sometimes get the best of her common sense and she could get very rash. She usually does things on a whim, without thinking them through. She has a kind giving nature and the kind deeds she often performs come like a second nature to her. She loves the sound of laughter and she tries to amuse people; though her jokes are not usually as funny as she wishes, she does however have her moments. If Greher's witty remarks and jokes do not cause you to laugh her clumsiness will for she is constantly tripping over herself. Greher is a curious, rambunctious, adventurous person who looks at the glass as half full, she doesn't take things for granted and is thankful for the people around her.

Her primary mode of living is focused externally, taking things in through her five senses in a very literal fashion. Other than that, her other mode is internal, where she deals with things according to her mood and how she feels about those things. Greer lives in a world full of possibilities, and finds herself so giddy for adventures and new experiences. She enjoys being the center of attention, and because she’s so lively she usually is. She relishes in the excitement and drama in her life. It’s not always that people tell her things, so when they do she becomes the generous and warm Greher, being a bit more observant and responding warmly with a solution that she hopes will help them. Greher is.. definitely a spontaneous and optimistic individual. She sees her glass as half full even though there are forces in the world that could subdue even the most ardent optimist. It would be a lie to say that she doesn’t fret over things she finds herself being able to do little about, but she’s found that life is most definitely more pleasant when she looks at the bright side of things.

Ever since she was young she’s loved to sing and dance around, her mother always called her quite the performer. And Greher enjoys it. She’s constantly putting on a show for others just to make them happy because she loves stimulating people’s senses. She loves people, even if they don’t love her. She has a sunny personality. Being under a great deal of stress overwhelms her with negative thoughts and possibilities. As an optimistic individual who lives in such a world as she does, negative things don’t sit well with her. To combat these thoughts, Greher often does a bit of retail therapy or she meditates to the sound of jazz music.

Similarites to Their Godly Parent: Much like her mother, Greher has found that many men have been interested in her. None of them have exactly caught her interest though. Her mother is often described as the type of person who had no problem being deceitful and she flourished in the fact that she could have anyone and everyone love and admire her. Greher doesn’t see herself being like her mother in this aspect. But also like her mother, Greher has such an interest in romance and love. You can often see her with her glasses perched on her nose, curled up somewhere with a romance novel.

History

First Memory: My first memory is of my father and I, and I'm sitting in his lap. He's reading a children's novel to me, and I remember which one and exactly what page we were on. I remember. Little Sara Crewe's father is about to leave for war in The Little Princess, and she's tracing the outlines of his face with her finger. He asks, "What are you doing? Memorizing me by heart,". And Sara replies that she already knows him by heart. While he read this, my father pulled me closer against his chest. Often I'd repeat these words to him that I know him by heart, and he'd smile.

Relationship with Mortal Parent: My father was by far the best influence in my life. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be the girl I am today. I wouldn't have grown up to be strong. I love my father, and only wish that he could be with me at the Academy. Does that sound awfully clingy?

Growing up, James Carmichael didn't have much. His parents were poor, and disowned him when he dropped out of college in his second year so he actually had nothing. It was when he got a job working for Charles Homan in the local bookstore that his life began to get brighter. His employer allowed him to stay in the small apartment just above the bookshop, and his paycheck was enough to keep good food on his table (mostly takeout) and pay the measly rent that he insisted to pay to the man. One warm summer night after he'd just locked up shop, he ran into a beautiful woman. Her skin practically glowed, and her eyes lured him in. They talked for a while, cups of hot tea in their hands as their laughter rang throughout the comfortably quiet store. Neither could keep to themselves for much longer, and he led her to his bedroom. In the morning when he opened his eyes and wiped the crust of sleep from them, he noticed a note attached to his nightstand. As he sat up, the sheets pooled around his waist and he snatched up the letter she'd written him. It explained to him who she was, what she was. He didn't entirely believe her, but somehow it only felt right to know that the woman he'd been with the night before had been a goddess. A little over nine months later, he saw her again. This time the woman left him something other than a note to remind him of her. She left a baby girl in his arms. Their baby girl. Aphrodite told him that she trusted him to raise their child appropriately and give her unconditional love. And with those words she was gone again and he was left sitting in his apartment with that little baby in his arms. He named her after his own mother, Greer Carmichael and gave her the middle name Gaiane because it was the name of his beloved grandmother.

At first his boss wondered where the baby had come from, and James explained that he'd gotten a past girlfriend pregnant. He wouldn't admit to the man that it was a goddess that he'd impregnated, because surely then he'd be put in the asylum. As Greher grew older, her father realized how much she looked like her mother. Those full lips, and that little tuft of blonde hair that grew longer what seemed like every day. Yes, James knew his daughter would be beautiful and was already thinking of ways to fend away the young men that would try to catch her eye. Each night, since Greher was able to read and write, he would take a book off the shelf and begin to read. Her favorite was The Little Princess, and he smiled as he told her that she was his princess. And she was. Greher grew up with nothing but love from her father and Charles Homan, who'd she began to call her grandfather. They always hung around each other and Greher could easily say that he was one of her best friends and trusted companion. If she ever needs anything, she knows to give him a call. Homan is the one who introduced her to jazz music and romance novels. He told her of the way she relaxes and looks so peaceful when she's listening to Stan Kenton or Maynard Ferguson. He also told her of the way her eyes widen when she's just getting to the best part of a novel, and then the disappointed glint she gets in her eyes when she can't finish a page. Yes, her father and Homan were the most amazing men in her life so far. She wouldn't know what to do without them.

Tragedy hit only two days after Greher's fourteenth birthday. While on the way to drop off a package to one of his customers, her father got into a terrible accident with an eighteen wheeler. If he hadn't managed to get out of the car quickly enough, he would have been burned to death as the car blew to pieces. Luckily, James survived but with a price to pay. About five or six hours after they'd gotten him to the hospital James fell into a coma and he's been sitting in that bed ever since. Once hearing of it, Greher went in near hysterics, her cries echoing down the hospital halls. Later that night when she returned home with Homan, he handed her a letter that her father had requested he give her on two conditions. If anything happened to him, give the letter to her, or if he couldn't manage to tell her himself, give her the letter. Written in her father's messy scrawl was an explanation. James never told her of her mother, and she'd wondered why she never saw a picture of it. She was sad, watching all of her friends walking around and hanging out with their mothers and she's lacked a mother's love all those years. In the letter, James Carmichael told his daughter the story of her mother and the Olympus Academy for Demigods. Charles gave her the choice of going there or staying in town with him. At first her choice was clear but after a few days she began feeling something. She wanted to know about her heritage, more of her mother, more of herself. She had to know, so she left. Ever since then she's been at the Academy. Often, when she can get out of the Academy, she sneaks away from her friends and goes to the hospital. No one really knows what happened to her father except a choice few people. Greher sits down with her father and tells him what's going on in her life and how much she misses him by her side. It was supposed to be the two of them against the world.
