Introduction
At least not escape and return. Space in the Sol system was running out and soon there would resources would be stretched to the limit. Humanity needed a solution. The solution was to expand, to push the frontier further for the first time in almost half a century. Humanity was becoming explorers once again.
The plan was fairly simple. On paper that is: Use the current available technology to fire a colony ship over to the nearest star system and then build the technology on the other side to aid in travel backwards and forwards. The technology in question involves hyperspace manipulation, opening a pocket into the hyperspace dimension that allowed ships to travel faster than light. At the current time the size of the equipment required to create this gateway was too large to be fitted onto ships and as such gateways were required.
The Sol system had a complete network of hyperspace gates set up, taking almost twenty-five years to complete. But trying to get to the closest star: Alpha Centauri was a lot more difficult. Overlooking the obvious problem of getting back, the size of gateway required to open a pocket stable enough to send a ship to Alpha Centauri was astronomical, at least in current engineering capabilities. Given the size of the gate required, trying to build one on the other side with limited resources seemed like an impossible endeavour.
However the time had now come to attempt it. The Intersystem Colonisation Project was set up in early 2231 as joint venture between the Sol Alliance and private enterprises. It had taken the combined effort to build the gate required for the mission, along with gathering the supplies and putting together the crew.
Now though, the mission is ready to go. The ship: ICPS Atlas, can hold upto 2500 colonists along with the vital supplies to set up several outposts. The ship also has the equipment and tools to convert the Atlas into a space station to act as the central hub for the system. Once established the goal of the project is to gather the necessary resources to create a new bastion for civilisation as well as begin construction of a return gate back to the Sol system.

This RP takes place 3 days after the arrival of the Atlas in the Alpha Centauri system. Your character is part of the Recon and Special Forces group that forms the first wave of the colonisation effort. Your primary objective is to scout out and find habitable spots in the system for the remaining Atlas crew to settle. Alongside this the group is tasked with finding areas suitable for mining required materials as well as responding to any potential threats that could arise - mostly hostile wildlife and fauna.
I hope that I have still got your attention and that by now you are eager to create a character and go venturing into the unknown together with your comrades. This RP is going to function very similarly to a tabletop RP; there will be levels, Experience Points and all that good stuff. However there wonβt be an in depth moving your character square by square across the board kind of approach. My role will be that of the proverbial dungeon master (space master?? Overlord????) that will guide your characters along the story in this strange new system. SO if this kind of RP interests you, or you would like to give it a go for the first time: letβs jump right on in.

The setting changes from AMI Node to RSFG Quarters
So here you are, lying on the bunk, staring into the abyss, trying to stop yourself from going stir crazy. The quarters weren't exotic in the slightest, a cross between a military barrack and some kind of space hostel. There was a lone living zone, littered with a couple of sofas and small creature comforts. The coffee machine was by far the most used item however.
Adjacent to the living zone was the office of the RSFG director. The door of which was currently open... and music was blaring out from. But it wasn't any music that anyone would recognise. It wasn't the normal techno-beats that formed the majority of today's music. The lyrics weren't even synthesised, instead they were actually sung by a real person. Not that anyone would be able to identify the song, Mainly because it was a song that originated from the later part of the 1900's.
Better go and see what is going on.
