Terra

Alright,” Ellis agreed to her suggestion. They had no time to do anything further before the door was thrown open and Aspen came strolling through the door with a grin plastered to his face.

"Hello, is anyone up for lunch?" He asked the three of them. Terra’s mouth dropped open in shock at the blasé attitude their “leader” was displaying. She’d been expecting a command to attack… not an invitation for lunch! Out of the corner of her eye she could see her bewilderment echoed on Ellis’ pale face, and she tried to say something, only to find herself muted by confusion and anger.

You passed a message, didn’t you?” Ellis asked after a moment of mystified silence. He then began to berate Aspen for allowing his emotions to interfere with the mission.

Terra stared down at the floor, eyes narrowed and fists clench. She could feel the anger and jealousy and disappointment swirling around inside her chest. It was no secret how much Aspen liked one of the mutants. Miyu was her name. The very mention of her was enough to cause Terra’s teeth to grind together. Of course Aspen had gone to help her. Of course he had.

You should have told us before you took actions into your own hands. We are here to help.” Ellis said eventually, calmly and quietly. With that he left the room and went outside.

Terra looked up into the eyes of the person who she was slowly beginning to fall in love with, and saw stood there the person she knew she’d never have. Not while the mutants were allowed to live.

“How could you do this to us?” She asked slowly, every word swathed in fury and disappointment. “Do you realise what they might do to us if they find out we’ve failed this mission? What they’ll do to you if they find out it’s your fault Aspen?”
She wanted to say more, but Ellis returned and said to Aspen;
They are escaping; what should we do, leader?” He then held up two feathers for Luna and herself to see and let them fall to the floor.
Shall we have lunch like you planned on, does everyone agree on a meal like you desire?” He continued, looking towards Luna and Terra. He made eye contact with her for a brief moment, and Terra grimaced at him, appreciative of his calm nature in this delicate situation.
“Do what you want, it looks like our original plans have been cancelled.” She spat the last few words, like a cobra spitting venom, and marched into her room, slamming the door for good measure.

Aspen

Aspen frowned at the others, and internally scolded himself. He had hurt them, what kind of leader was he? He was so ashamed of himself. Especially when he saw how Terra reacted. He was closest to Terra, and he seemed to have hurt her some how, but he wondered why she acted so angry?

He looked at Ellis and passed him a silent apology, sent through his eyes, then quickly looked away as he left. Then, Ellis returned, holding s snowy white avian mutant feathers. “They are escaping; what should we do, leader?” Aspen looked away, he didn't deserve to be their leader, and they knew it, or at least, he though they knew it.

He stared at the shards as if they could give him answers, and when they didn't his frown deepened.“Shall we have lunch like you planned on, does everyone agree on a meal like you desire?” Aspen shot a glare up at Ellis, but then erased the venom from it when he realized what he had done. He hated getting angry at his "brother and sisters", and he always tried to be a good leader and keep the piece, though this mission was slowly breaking him down.

"This isn't the time." He muttered, "you and Luna go on ahead, track the mutants and kill them." His voice revealed no emotion, though each word he said filled him with pain. He took a deep breath and looked towards Terra's door, his voice cracked with the slightest bit of fear, "I'll try to calm Terra down." He said, shuddering slightly, "we'll be right behind you...that is if Terra doesn't kill me."

Aspen walked over to Luna and kissed her forehead, like an older brother would, and then to Ellis and patted his shoulder. "You two be careful. Don't be reckless. " He instructed in a stern voice, "and," he smiled the slightest bit, "leave some of them for us?"

He shot a glance at Terra's door again and looked back at Ellis and Luna, mouthing the words, 'wish me luck', before heading over to Terra's room. He took a deep breath and opened the door, without knocking, something that he might regret. He closed the door behind himself and stood there, looking at Terra with eyes that had gone back to their sparkling blue color. Aspen smiled at Terra, his best, most dazzling smile and whispered,

"Don't hit me, I'm just here to talk."

Elise

"Thank you!" Elise said, excitedly digging into her pancakes the minute Jonathan put them in front of her. She was almost done with her's before he even got them to anyone else. She was extremely hungry. But there was something just...not right about today. She knew that the other mutants thought so, and she could feel how weird they felt about everything. She watched Miyu carefully. She saw something out in the woods, Elise thought. But Miyu was blocking her thoughts; she was trying to hide something from her. That was never good.

"Jonathan, something weird is going on, and Miyu is hiding something from me. We need to be extra on guard," she whispered to Jonathan. And then something horrible happened. Miyu came in, clutching a note. Run, it said. Run from what? She shoved them out the door and told them to run as she started to prepared to fly the other way. Her and Michael's thoughts both burst with questions and scenarios and Elise was scared. She fell to her knees from everything that was happening, all the fear and screaming going on in the others' minds. She hadn't been like this since the Institute because everybody, including the scientists, had made sure she was comfortable. But with fear like this there were no constraints. Miyu flew off opposite of where she told them to.

Michael of course didn't obey what she said. He pushed Jonathan and her behind the couch and told them to hide as he flew off after Miyu.

"What do you think is going on?" she asked Jonathan, still clutching her head but finally able to think for herself with the other two gone. Since she couldn't read Jonathan's mind, it was easy to be around him. "What are we going to do? Should we stay here or go after them?"

Luna

Ellis went out our building. Guess he couldn't take it anymore. Luna wanted to go out and go after him, but then decided that he left because he wanted to be alone. The tension between Terra and Aspen was unbelievable. Luna almost wanted to run to her room and stay there until the tension was over.

But then suddenly, Ellis went back inside, holding two frozen feathers. They have been here, she thought. Those..things. Luna didn't understand why Aspen loved a mutant. When Terra, the most beautiful girl she had ever known, was here, in front of Aspen. She felt a little sorry for Terra. But then thought that she should also feel sorry for herself, for not having the courage to tell Ellis that she loves him so much.

“Shall we have lunch like you planned on, does everyone agree on a meal like you desire?” Aspen suddenly broke the silence. He's making an excuse, quite obvious. Then Terra said, “Do what you want, it looks like our original plans have been cancelled.” Then she walked out then slammed the door.

"This isn't the time." He muttered to Ellis, "you and Luna go on ahead, track the mutants and kill them." His voice revealed no emotion, though each word he said filled him with pain. Luna didn't want to leave. And it was also raining, and she was afraid of the thunder and lightning. No one seemed to notice though.

Aspen walked over to Luna and kissed her forehead, like an older brother would, and then to Ellis and patted his shoulder. "You two be careful. Don't be reckless. " He instructed in a stern voice, "and," he smiled the slightest bit, "leave some of them for us?" Even though that Luna loved Aspen as her brother, she couldn't help but feel betrayed.

Before leaving, Luna whispered to Aspen, " Do you want me to leave that mutant? "

Luna walked with Ellis out the door, they should be set to track down the mutants. But as they stepped out, lightning flashed and the thunder was heard.

Terra

The minute the door slammed behind her, Terra threw herself down onto the bed and screamed into her pillow. She felt so frustrated by the multitude of emotions racing through her. There were so many questions she wanted to ask, but the one she kept coming back to over and over again was “Why does he prefer her to me?”

Of course, Terra couldn’t deny to herself that Miyu was pretty, maybe even beautiful, but how could she be worth screwing up the most important mission of their lives? The knowledge she’d been suddenly burdened with, the knowledge of just how intense Aspen’s love for the mutant truly was, was enough to make her question her desire to live.

She wanted to cry, but she’d forgotten how to a long time ago.

Suddenly the door to her room was thrown open, and she glanced up in shock. No one ever interrupted Terra without permission.
Aspen edged into her room slowly, an overwhelmingly sweet and innocent smile attached to his stupid face.
She wanted to carry on yelling some more at him, but she made the mistake of looking into those pale blue eyes, sparkling like topaz, and completely forgot what she intended to say.
Damn his stupid beautiful eyes.” She thought crossly. “I’m going to start requesting he wear sunglasses to make these fights fair.”

Don’t hit me,” he said in a soft whisper. “I’m just here to talk.”
She fought back a smile, but couldn’t prevent the corners of her mouth giving a telltale twitch.

“So talk,” she said in as calm a voice as she could manage. She pushed herself up into a sitting position, legs crossed and arms folded tightly across her chest. “Talk about why you felt it was okay to ruin a mission we’ve been planning carefully together for weeks.”

Aspen

Aspen noticed the corners of Terra's lips twitch as she fought back a smile, and that only made him smile more. He wished that his brother and sisters didn't need to go through this complicated life, after all this is over, he wished that they could run away (bring Miyu of course) just like the mutants had, and be like a real family. He tried not to laugh when Terra gave him that interrogation pose. He walked over and ruffled her soft blonde hair. To tell the truth, Aspen had never noticed how incredibly silky her hair was, it almost made him want to keep running his hands through it.

He resisted the less than manly urge and listened to Terra's question, trying to think of a way to answer her. “Talk about why you felt it was okay to ruin a mission we’ve been planning carefully together for weeks.” If it had been any of the others, he would've thought of some lie that would cover up his emotional screw up, but she wasn't just any of the other hunters, she was Terra, and no matter how much he wanted to, Aspen could never lie to her.

He sighed and laid back on her bed reaching up with his finger and tracing the panels on the ceiling in the air. "To tell you the truth," he began, "I'm not sure. Emotions. They're so.. confusing. I'm not supposed to have any but." He dropped his hand onto his chest and felt his heart beat, "they're somehow there. It's comforting, yet so incredibly irritating. I wish I was more like Ellis, (-this is something he would never admit to anyone other than Terra-) he is exactly what the creators wanted, an emotionless being who'll get the job done." Aspen closed his eyes and frowned, "I don't deserve to be the leader, he does."

He looked at Terra, she was still frowning, he hated when she frowned, and right now, he hated it more than ever, because something inside of him was telling him that he was the reason for her frown. He sat up and looked at her lips even closer, trying to remember what she looked like when she smiled, he remembered that her smile was just about the most beautiful thing on the planet, second only to Miyu's, but he didn't remember what it looked like.

Without removing his eyes from Terra's lips, he said, "why don't you smile anymore, Terra? I need that smile more than anything right now, it always makes my day. And...I don't even remember what it looks like anymore."

Ellis

A sigh left Ellis lips when Aspen told him to go search for the mutants with Luna. It was relieving that Aspen didn’t argue back to protect his thoughtless decisions. It was very mature of him to realize his mistake and to understand that emotions should not allow a mission to fail. Ellis looked over towards Luna when Aspen placed a kiss on her head. He quickly looked away from that. Something bothered him about it, he just didn’t know why or what that feeling could be…if it was even a feeling.

Without saying a word, he opened the door and allowed Luna to exit first before following behind her. The moment they stepped outside, lightening flashed and thunder was heard. It trembled. Immediately, Ellis placed his hand on Luna’s shoulder. Ellis noticed it. He noticed the fear Luna had towards lightening and thunder ever since they were younger. He pulled at Luna’s shoulder slightly as he bent down to bring his lips to her ear, “Don’t worry. I’ll protect you.” His breath was gentle and warm. Ellis was being very kind to her. Ellis’s smooth lips curved into a soft smile. “You ready? We will only track them down first. We have to know where they are heading before we lose them.” His grip on her shoulder tightened lightly, it was only to show comfort and affection.

“Let’s check the cabin first before heading that way. Stay close.” After pointing towards the direction Ellis believed some of the mutants went, Ellis released his grip from her shoulder and took off. He rocked his neck from side to side, popping his neck and increasing the blood flow throughout his body. His feet began to pick up speed as he began to dodge the trees that were in his way. Ellis is an extremely fast hunter. Most of his skills are based upon his speed. His attacks depended on his speed. The more hits he can connect, the better it was when each of those hits were going over 53km/h. Without his speed, he would have to depend solely on his gift…something Ellis is never inclined to happen.

"Luna, if something goes wrong, or you don't feel like we shouldn't continue today, tell me and we will retreat."

Luna

Ellis placed his hand on Luna’s shoulder. Luna was so terrified that she almost didn't notice it. He pulled at Luna’s shoulder slightly as he bent down to bring his lips to her ear, “Don’t worry. I’ll protect you.” His breath was gentle and warm. For Ellis. I would do this for him. Luna thought, but fear was overpowering her, which she wasn't accepting.“You ready? We will only track them down first. We have to know where they are heading before we lose them.” His grip on her shoulder tightened lightly, it was only to show comfort and affection. Then Ellis smiled at her.Oh God, he smiled. Luna thought. To see Ellis smile was like a miracle. His face usually show no emotions, the main reason why she couldn't tell if he really cared for her or not. But he smiled. Luna felt warm inside, then she smiled at him too, disregarding the fear she felt.

“Let’s check the cabin first before heading that way. Stay close.” After pointing towards the direction Ellis believed some of the mutants went, Ellis released his grip from her shoulder and took off. Luna nodded then took off after him. He was unbelievably fast, as usual. But she tried her best to keep up with him. She was also a fast runner, due to her skirt. She felt very comfortable wearing them. Though she scrapes them up sometimes. Luna didn't mind the tree branches that were scraping her thigh. She didn't want to be a burden to Ellis, and she'll never be. Stay strong. Luna thought. She really wanted to kill Miyu, the mutant that Aspen loved, for Terra. She couldn't bear to see her sad. But she had to control herself.

"Luna, if something goes wrong, or you don't feel like we shouldn't continue today, tell me and we will retreat." Ellis told her while they were running. But no. Luna was determined to track them down. She would find them, learn about their new hideout, and report back. Yes, just that. Because of the rain and...because they weren't a team. Aspen and Terra wasn't with them.

" We will just look for them right? No killing for now? And don't worry about me. I-I'll be fine " Luna answered in a soft voice.

Jonathan

Jonathan looked over at Elise. She had fear in her eyes that made Jonathan could feel worry and panic build inside him. He pushed it away and inhaled deeply.
"We need to go back. We need to help them and we need to get the packs that I made up. They have provisions which will keep us going for a few days." Jonathan walked over to the Elise and pulled her into a reassuring hug.
"Everything will be fine...I promise..." Jonathan had always been good at hiding his feelings and emotions. He could easily change his expression to whatever he needed and hide his nerves or fear. He pulled away and ran his hands through his brown hair. He was wearing his jeans and grey tops like usual and was ready to go anywhere.
"Let's go..." He said to Elise before starting on his way to Miyu and Michael.

Terra

Aspen let out a soft sigh and lay down across her bed. It was all Terra could do not to lay her head against his chest and just forget everything that was going on in the world around them.

"To tell you the truth," he told her, "I'm not sure. Emotions. They're so.. confusing. I'm not supposed to have any but they're somehow there. It's comforting, yet so incredibly irritating. I wish I was more like Ellis, he is exactly what the creators wanted, an emotionless being who'll get the job done. I don't deserve to be the leader, he does."

Terra had begun to waver at the beginning of his speech, and by the end she wanted nothing more than to fling her arms around him and tell him she definitely knew all about emotions taking control. Her left arm shot out towards him, but she caught herself at the last minute and turned it into an awkward looking stretch. She frowned at herself for the moment of stupidity, and realised too late that Aspen had assumed the frown was meant for him.
He turned and began to stare at her lips as if waiting for something, and she hoped he couldn’t hear how irregular her heartbeat was becoming.

"Why don't you smile anymore, Terra?” He asked in a sad sounding voice. “I need that smile more than anything right now, it always makes my day. And...I don't even remember what it looks like anymore."
She frowned thoughtfully for a moment, and then realised what she was doing. She tried to hitch a smile onto her face, but it was so fake it was embarrassing, and she removed it at once.

“There’s not much in our lives to smile about Aspen,” she said miserably. “We’re pawns in someone else’s game. We do the dirty work and they get the credit. I’m getting a bit sick of it all to be honest. I just wish there was a way out,” she sighed. It wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t the whole truth either. But how could she tell the person she loved that he was the reason she couldn’t smile anymore? It was neither fair to inflict such guilt on him, nor blame him for having feelings he couldn’t control. This was exactly why the mutants had to die. Maybe when that Miyu freak was taken out of the equation, he’d see what had been standing in front of him the whole time.

“And I think you’re an amazing leader by the way,” she added as an afterthought. “You don’t need to be like Ellis, who by the way I don’t think is as emotionless as he’d like us all to think.” She thought back to the scene with Ellis and Luna a moment ago with a sly grin.
“You need to focus on all the many amazing qualities that make you, you.” She patted him uncertainly on the shoulder, not being very good at making people feel better.
Suddenly she heard the door to the their hideout slam. Her head snapped up as she was brought back into the reality of their situation.
“Where have they gone?” She asked inquisitively.

Michael

Michael walked quickly through the pouring rain to the makeshift shelter of the cave. His jet-black wings swayed with the weight of the water and trailed on the ground as he entered. It was a dark is dismal cave, damp and cold from the recent weather. Walking to the center, Michael lifted one of his soaked wings and revealed flint, twigs, and two logs that he had scooped up while walking over here, before the rain began. He set them down, then shook his wings like a wet dog. Being as cold and wet as he was, Michael ripped off his shirt with relative ease, and looked for a place to begin a reasonable fire. Finding an inlet to the side, Michael found a spot in the cave that was not visible to the people in the building about 500 yards away. Pulling his lighter from his pocket, Michael sat down and lit the flint, and began assembling his fire. He built a small formation of the wood in a circle, then made sure it began to burn. Michael looked to Miyu.

"Some storm, huh?" Michael said as he looked around the corner and saw the immense wall of rain pouring down. "It's been like this on and off for a while..."

Michael folded his wings so that the inside dry parts were towards his back, and leaned back on them.

"Sorry for being so hard earlier. I mean, I care about you, and when you always run below us as we fly, it worries me." Michael sighed. "It wasn't right of me to get all pissed off at you, but...I would prefer if you didn't just peek into windows like that." Michael concluded with a small smirk. "Don't want any of us hurt, or separated, and look were we are now...me and you in this cave, and Elise and Jonathan back at the cabin."

Michael looked to the cabin ceiling, now laying completely flat against the cave floor, feeling the warmth of the fire near him.

"From now on, I think we should stay together. None of this separation stuff. I feel a responsibility for you guys...like I'm the leader or something. And I don't want anyone hurt. We need to figure out what's going on and rendezvous back with Elise & Jon."

Michael sat in silence, hoping she would talk about what was going on, but he didn't want to push her. He wrapped himself in his wings to keep warm.

Miyu

"From now on, I think we should stay together. None of this separation stuff. I feel a responsibility for you guys...like I'm the leader or something. And I don't want anyone hurt. We need to figure out what's going on and rendezvous back with Elise & Jon." Michael said. When Miyu heard this, she slowly turned to face Michael, confused. "Elise and Jon are..... where...?" Miyu said slowly. "They were supposed to come with you!" Miyu jumped up, already in a bad mood from being wet and cold, but she didn't care about that right now, they had to get back to Elise and Jon.

"Come on! Get up Michael!" Miyu said as she grabbed Michael's arm and dragged him out of the cave. As she spread her wings out and jumped into the air, she forgot that it was raining since she was so distracted about getting to Elise and Jon, and shortly crashed down onto the ground. God, I can space out sometimes... Miyu said as she stood up, not soaking wet and covered in bruises and scratches. Without looking back to make sure Michael was behind her, Miyu ran out into the forest, stumbling every now and then because of her current condition. She wasn't running at all as fast as she usually did, and was running more of the speed of a regular human. Miyu didn't care though, she just wanted to get back to Elise and Jon before anything happened to them.
I've got to get to them... she thought as she noticed she was about to pass by the building she had seen before.

Michael

Michael quickly sat up as he realized what was going on. What was I thinking? He thought to himself. He felt so bad, having separated the group. He quickly put out the fire as Miyu tried to drag him out of the cave. He gently broke off the grip she had on him. He wasn't getting dragged this time. Not again. Walking out into the rain, Michael spotted the Cabin not too far away from where they were, about half a mile. He began to try to run, when he saw Miyu relentlessly try to fly, but failing and falling to the ground. She was about five hundred feet away at this point. Michael's mind raced as he thought of what he could do. Running would take too long. Miyu can't fly. Whoever lives in that building could easily be there by now. It was pouring rain and......wait...

Now, something you should know about Michael is that he can fly. Well. As far as he knew, he could fly the fastest out of all of them, but had never gone top speed, in an effort to stay with the group. He had great night vision, and was good with blending into the night sky. However, rain flying was a different story. Michael had only flown in the rain once before, during one of the times he went off alone and gotten himself lost. He flew about one mile and just made it to the cabin. He passed out as soon as he got there and was weak for three days. However, he was younger and weaker then.

"Miyu's not going to like this..." Michael mumbled. He spread his wings out to their full spread of of 15'. He crouched low to the ground, and in one solid sweep, he was moving fast forward at roughly 80MPH. His bare chest hit bushes and trees, slicing him open and revealing fresh streams of blood. Michael winced and ignored the pain. He came fast up behind Miyu and swung his arms under hers, and pulled her body to himself. He sucked up all of the energy in his body, and forced his wings hard down, shooting up fifty feet.

Aspen

Aspen followed Terra's gaze to the door, "I told them to go hunt down the mutants while I talked you." He hoped Miyu was still okay, but he didn't say that. His clear blue eyes made their way back to Terra and he forced a smile, though he knew that Terra was right, there really wasn't much to smile about. The other hunters doubted him and didn't trust him, and Miyu and the other mutants would soon hate him as well. Still, he hoped that Terra didn't think that his smile was too fake, he sincerely wanted to smile, but at the moment it just wasn't working.

He sucked in a deep breath of air and stood up, turning around to offer her his hand to help her off of the bed. "I think we should go find Ellis and Luna and make sure they're okay, or we could just go off somewhere else to find the mutants, to cover more ground." His hand grasped Terra's and he pulled her up off the bed.

"Terra, can I hug you?" He asked, looking down, he was actually embarrassed, or at least he felt embarrassed, "I've always known that I can trust you, without you here," Aspen chuckled lightly, "I'd probably have a break down. I just need to know you're really there, right now, I feel like I'm in some nightmare."

He walked over to his fellow hunter and wrapped his arms around her small frame. He stood there with her for a minute, maybe two, and then pulled apart and smiled, this time sincerely, "Good, you are real." He turned around, casually, as if nothing had just happened, whistling a small tune, it was supposed to sound cheery, but there was an element in it that cannot be pinpointed that made it down eerily sad.

"Come on, we'll go towards the cabin. If we find anyone, we'll bring them here and question them, if they are separated from the rest of the mutants, to see where the others are, sound like a plan? I want to get this done as soon as possible. I'm sorry, Miyu, but they are my family...

He grabbed Terra's hand and pulled her out the door into the rain. Aspen cursed under his breath at the weather, it would make all this so much harder, it was nearly impossible for his skin to absorb the blood because it would get washed away quicker than it could absorb. It's not like he wanted to use his miserable power, but sometimes he had to use it. Also, he didn't want Terra to get sick in this weather.

He took off his trench coat and put it on Terra, pulling the hood up over her head. "I don't want you to get sick." He muttered, still in quite a fowl mood, be careful, there are a lot of knives in there." He wasn't cold, for one thing, his skin was different from normal skin to be able to stretch and change, it looked and felt normal, but it was almost like elephant skin, thick and waterproof. Now, he was wearing a short sleeved black shirt with a long, blue scarf that hung around his neck, on his shoulders loosely.

Aspen smiled at Terra, "are you ready?"

Miyu

All of a sudden, as Miyu was running, she felt someones arms wrap around her and then all of a sudden she was lifted fifty feet into the air. "Michael!" Miyu yelled. "You could have warned me first!" Miyu never liked when Michael did stuff like this without warning her, which he seemed to do stuff like this a lot. If he flies too long his wings will probably get soaked too... she thought as she stared at the ground below her.

All of a sudden, she caught sight of the blue haired guy down below on the ground that she had seen before in the building. There was a different girl with him and she had a jacket on with a hood over her head. In the jacket, she caught a glimpse of something... Knifes....? Miyu thought. I knew they were the people behind this! They might be the ones that were heading towards Elise and Jonathan...

"I'm sorry Michael, but I've got to figure out what's going on. I have a strange feeling about those people." Miyu said before she slipped out of his grip, struggling a bit before she did though. She knew how strong Michael was, and she did have to wrench his arms apart a little bit, but she had successfully gotten out of his grip, and then started to fall to the ground. Before the hit the treetops, Miyu spread her wings out. Even though they were mostly soaked, they let her gracefully drift down onto a tree branch. He's soooooo going to freak out at me about this later... Miyu thought as she jumped from tree branch to tree branch until she was on one behind the blue haired teenager and the girl wearing the jacket that was mostly covered by leaves, but the leaves didn't cover her face, so she could see what was happening.
Wait... is that blue haired guy...?! she thought as she stared wide eyed at the blue haired teenager. He had been so familiar, and now Miyu had an idea why he was.

Terra

I told them to go hunt down the mutants while I talked you.” Aspen explained. Terra felt a wave of irrational fear wash over her. Ellis and Luna were both just as capable of taking care of themselves as she was, but they were also both younger than her, and the closest thing to a little brother and sister she was ever going to get. She didn’t know what she’d do if anything happened to them both because she wasn’t there to help.
Aspen held out his hand to her and she took in gratefully, a spark pulsing through her as their skin made contact.

"I think we should go find Ellis and Luna and make sure they're okay, or we could just go off somewhere else to find the mutants, to cover more ground.” Aspen suggested, pulling her up so that she was on her feet.

She was about to tell him that they needed to go looking for their fellow hunters to stop her going insane with worry when he asked her a question that made her freeze up in utter shock.

Terra, can I hug you?" Before she could even find any words to make a comprehensible sentence he had wrapped his arms around her and then pulled her into the warmth of his body. Her senses went on complete overload; every brain cell in her head buzzed with pleasure, the parts of exposed skin that came into contact with his had turned red hot and she now fully understood the phrase “butterflies in my stomach.” The hug couldn’t have lasted more than a minute, but even one that lasted forever would have been too short for her.
He turned away from her and began to whistle cheerfully, and she stared at his back, feeling more confused than ever.

Was that a friend hug, or something more?” She wondered desperately. “I wish Luna was here, I could really use another girl’s opinion right now!”

The thought of her fellow hunter reminded her that other things were happening in the world right now, and she had a family to protect. She shrugged off her emotions like she’d shrug off a jacket when she was too warm, and set herself to hunter mode like she’d been trained to. She didn’t even react when Aspen grabbed her hand for the second time and pulled her outside into the rain. Even when he took off his coat and helped her into it, she only reacted with a quick, grateful nod.

Are you ready?” He asked her with a smile.

“As ready as I ever am to kill another human being.” She smiled back wryly. “Now let’s hurry! We need to find Luna and Ellis, I don’t like them being alone!” And without another word, she took off running in the direction of the cabin.

Luna

After sometime of running, Luna was getting cold. " Ellis, can we find some shelter for a bit? It's getting cold " Luna said, then thunder was heard. She was trying so hard for her heartbeat to slow down, as it always happens that she will be petrified. Luna wondered what happened to Terra and Aspen. I hope they're okay. Luna thought. She was breathing heavily. Compared to Ellis, she was nothing.

Luna looked up at the sky, it was still dark." The mutants won't be going anywhere far. Their wings will get soaked. " Luna told Ellis. Even though we were already soaked, Ellis still looked perfect. She caught herself looking at him again. As usual. But now, she really wanted to know if Terra and Aspen were okay.

Luna heard someone running. She tugged on Ellis' coat and half-dragged him behind the tree. They can see the mutant's cabin from where they are. The cabin door opened and they saw two mutants come out. " What do we do now? " Luna asked Ellis.

Miyu

Miyu watched silently as the girl with the blue haired boy's jacket ran off away from the blue haired boy. That meant that the boy's jacket with all the knives was gone along with her, and he was probably powerless. This is my chance! Miyu thought as she jumped to another tree branch. God, Michael's going to get very, very mad at me for this.... Maybe I should plan what I'm going to do first before I stop him... Miyu looked around for something that she could use as a weapon or such in case, but saw nothing. Oh well, guess I'm going without anything.

All of a sudden, once the other girl was out of site, Miyu jumped down from the tree branch in front of the blue haired teenager. "Who are you? And what are you doing here?" she asked as she held out her arms to stop him if he tried to get past her. Now that she was looking at his face, she recognized who he was completely. She recognized his eyes, his face, practically everything. All from that one night...
Miyu remembered back to that one night, when she was 8 and she had been back at the Institute. She had been crying in her dog crate since she couldn't reach her food, and then all of a sudden this blue haired kid that looked 2 years older that her had appeared in front of her and had handed her the food. He had been about to say something, but then the scientists had taken him away... Why was he here now...?
Miyu stared there, wide-eyed, at the blue haired teenager that she had last seen 9 years ago. To tell the truth, he had been her first crush, but she had forgotten about him after the years. "You..." she said as she stared at him. She thought she would never be able to see him again, but now here he was. Miyu didn't mean to, but because of her tendency to do things without thinking, she ran up to him and almost hugged him, but she stopped about a foot in front of him, not knowing if she could actually trust him. "You're... that boy.... from 9 years ago..." she said as she stared at his face.

Aspen

Aspen watched as Terra suddenly took off...with his jacket. Not that he cared, but, the fabric on his skin was a comforting feel, and it held all of his knives, all except for one, the one that he always kept in his right boot. He sighed and rolled his eyes and was about to go after her when he heard a rustle, saw a flash of black hair, and suddenly, there was a girl in front of him. And not just any girl, but Miyu. He knew he'd have to take this calmly, like a gentleman, and quickly, so that Terra didn't realize that he wasn't with her, yet.
"Who are you? And what are you doing here?" Miyu demanded, her determined and strong look made the edges of his lips twitch with a smile.
"You can call me Aspen. And I'm here to warn you. Me and my companions are from the institute, we were sent to eliminate you. But, I don't want to harm you. Run, and don't look back, I don't want anyone to get hurt." He kept the same cool look on his face, but his eyes pleaded with her.
"Maybe we'll meet again on better terms, but for now, you are in danger. Good luck." He grinned at her, and bowed the slightest bit, tipping an invisible hat, in a slightly humorous manor.
Then, he gently moved Miyu out of the way, and before she could stop him, he took off after Terra. He caught up with her eventually and apologized.
"Sorry, Terra, I dropped my scarf." Aspen ran by her side in silence, then, feeling like once again he had betrayed his family.

Miyu

"You can call me Aspen. And I'm here to warn you. Me and my companions are from the institute, we were sent to eliminate you. But, I don't want to harm you. Run, and don't look back, I don't want anyone to get hurt." the blue haired teenager said. "Eliminate us...?" Miyu said as she stared at him. So it was true, somebody was trying to kill them. Why is he telling me this if he's one of the ones trying to eliminate me and the others though?! she thought.
"Maybe we'll meet again on better terms, but for now, you are in danger. Good luck." Aspen said and then tipped an imaginary hat to her. Before Miyu could say anything else, the boy had ran off in the direction where the one other girl had gone.

I've got to get to Elise and Jonathan... Miyu thought, all her senses on alert. Miyu snapped open her wings and spread them out to their full length. They had dried off a little bit, but they were still a tiny bit wet. Miyu ran off in the direction of the cabin, and then jumped off into the sky and shot off into the air, using her special ability to fly quicker than she usually would.
As Miyu shot through the air, she looked around at the ground for Elise and Jonathan. She passed over Aspen and the other girl once, but didn't pay attention to them much. She also saw two of the other people that had been in the building off in the woods, and they weren't that far from Elise and Jonathan.

All of a sudden, Miyu snapped her wings inward and shot down to the ground like a rock. Before she actually hit the ground, she spread her wings back out, making her quickly fly a foot above the ground. Once she got to Elise and Jonathan, she folded her wings back in, and landed on her knees, and then stood up. "We're getting out of here. Now." Miyu said. "Michael should be getting here soon."

Michael

"Yeah...I've been here this whole time." Michael said, emerging from the trees. And he had been. From the moment Miyu slipped from his grasp, Michael has been right behind her, longing so hard for her to not be so resistant. And the then there was that blue-haired boy. With his sly smile, he told her that she was to be killed, and she didn't move. Why would you not run instantly when someone tells you that they are going to kill you? Michael's thoughts were running fast, livid with hatred, knowing full well Elise would most likely be sickened by some of these thoughts.

"Look, we need to get out of here. And not just a few miles away. Like, out of here. And this time, NO ONE is going ANYWHERE alone." Michael said, looking right at Miyu. "Obviously, people want to kill us. So let's get the out of here and find another place to stay."  Michael concluded his small-scale rant and stood, fuming. His anger past words. He was not going to let anyone, ESPECIALLY Miyu out of his sight from now on. And he didn't give a damn at this point if it pissed them off. He was responsible for them, so he was going to take care of them, from now on.

Ellis

Ellis soon stopped when the Cabin was in reach and he saw two mutants come out. When he stopped, he looked over towards Luna and walked closer to her. Luna did have a point about the mutants not being able to go too far because of the rain. “That is true…” Ellis opened gave his thoughts to her before he heard someone running as well. Unlike Luna, Ellis didn’t move immediately, until Luna pulled him behind a tree for cover.

Looking towards the direction of the cabin, “We will only watch. Watch which direction they will run off to.’ Ellis whispered towards Luna as they watched the cabin and the mutants together. Soon, other mutants began to show up. Thunder growled louder as time went by. Ellis could not hear what the mutants where saying and so he pulled out his binoculars and placed them before his cerulean eyes. What he could do was read lips.

“Luna, I know you are scared of thunder.” Ellis calmly said as he stretched his left arm. His hand softly waved for Luna to come to him, “Come closer, you’ll be fine.” When his hand touched Luna, he grabbed her and pulled her closer to his side. She was cold. Ellis could not feel if he was cold because he always felt cold. This was normal for him because of his gift.

“We could easy attack them from here…This weather is perfect…”Ellis mentioned as he watched the mutants communicate from afar. The rain is something Ellis can easily manipulate. With his gift, he could force the rain to change into ice and at the speed rain fell; it would be a dangerous weapon. A sky filled with small ice daggers. Looking away from the mutants, he looked over towards Luna. "We will only attack when Terra and Aspen is beside us as well...Hopefully they will get here faster." After he told that to Luna, he looked back towards the mutants with his binoculars.

Luna

“We will only watch. Watch which direction they will run off to." Ellis whispered towards Luna as they watched the cabin and the mutants together. Luna nodded and they watched the mutants. They were talking to each other, but it was inaudible to hear because of their distance to them. “Luna, I know you are scared of thunder.” Ellis calmly said as he stretched his left arm. Luna was always fascinated by Ellis. In times like this, he could be so calm.

His hand softly waved for Luna to come to him, “Come closer, you’ll be fine.” When his hand touched Luna, he grabbed her and pulled her closer to his side. She was cold. I wish I brought my jacket, if I only knew. Luna thought as she blushed lightly. “We could easy attack them from here…This weather is perfect…”Ellis mentioned as he watched the mutants communicate from afar.

Luna grew tense. She felt like something..or someone was watching them. I hope it's just my imagination. Luna thought as she closed her eyes for a while. "We will only attack when Terra and Aspen is beside us as well...Hopefully they will get here faster." Ellis' voice brought her back to reality. Ellis clearly wanted to attack now. But because of me, he couldn't. Luna thought.

" If you want to attack now, I'm with you. I'm not afraid. I'm not going to be a bother to you anymore " Luna said in a determinated voice.

Terra

Terra sprinted through the heavy rain in the direction of the cabin. Her hunting instinct had taken over now, and all she could focus on was running. She didn’t even flinch as branches clawed at her face, knowing the shallow scratches would heal as quickly as they were inflicted.

She was so focusing so focused on getting to Ellis and Luna that she didn’t even notice she’d been alone until she heard the sound of swift footfall behind her over the splattering of raindrops on the ground. She broke her pace and whipped around, ready for attack.

It’s only Aspen,” she thought with relief.

Sorry Terra, I dropped my scarf,” he said with an apologetic look on his face.

She broke into a run once again, trying to keep pace with his strides. She was concentrating so much on keeping up that she didn’t even have time to notice that he’d taken a very long time picking up a scarf.

When they neared the cabin Terra shot Aspen a warning look to keep quiet and began to creep slowly. To her immense relief she found Ellis and Luna huddled behind a tree, looking completely unharmed.

“If you want to attack now, I'm with you. I'm not afraid. I'm not going to be a bother to you anymore.” She heard Luna say to Ellis firmly.

“It’s okay, we’re here now,” Terra said quietly, resting a hand gently on Luna’s shoulder.

Luna

Luna's heart was beating fast. She just said what she wanted to say. She was sitting so close to the one she loves. This moment could have been the perfect time to say how she feels about Ellis. If only they weren't on a mission to kill the mutants. She slightly frowned at the thought of it. She wanted to finish this mission badly, then she can finally have the courage to tell Ellis.

“It’s okay, we’re here now,” a voice suddenly said. Luna turned her head and saw Terra and Aspen. I assume they made up. Luna thought. " Ellis! Terra and Aspen are here! " Luna said in a excited but hushed tone. She was happy now that their team is complete. She was also very worried about Terra. But now that her family is here, she was satisfied.

" Do we attack now? " Luna asked with a smirk.
