Description

Image

Name: Cheshire

Nick Name: The Grim Grinner

Age: unknown, though when human looks 18 yrs old

Gender: Unknown

Personality:

Cheshire is a creature of wonder and spontaneity. Quick to grow bored, Cheshire is found changing appearances often, whether it be shifting body parts, transforming from cat to human or transforming gender (true gender is unknown, even to him). When it comes to knowledge, Cheshire will often play dumb, either to see how certain events unfold or just for the pleasure of watching one squirm. Though, when it's deemed fit and when she's up to it, he'll give out helpful bits of information..if one can decipher it. Many deem her insane, but he could care less. Sanity is for those who are too afraid or too blind to really see. Cheshire is often viewed as eccentric, selfish and aloof.

He cast one last glance back at Duchess' house before he darted into the forest. If he were to be completely honest with himself, he would admit he was fearful of happening upon Jabberwockey again. Every stressed movement caused deep pain and regardless how he wished to scour the woods looking for the lost trio, he was trying to keep his wounds from reopening. Yes, once was just fine for now. As things were, he wished to gather some sort of preparations before meeting the Beast again. He was in no state for a rematch.

He kept himself invisible, leaving only his eyes to float around as he traveled through his many 'shortcuts', keeping a careful, but hurried pace. He hissed against his injuries, annoyed at how slow and inflexible they made him. He could hear Jabberwockey now, mocking his current state, toying with him. He growled to himself. His skin was thick enough to withstand a few taunts, toying, however, was another thing entirely. If Jabberwockey ever gained control of his 'allies' and used them against him he wasn't sure what he would do. They better be alive.

He traveled as quickly as he could, passing through the secret portals only to wind up alone everywhere he went. "Where are they.." he asked aloud, frustrated that he hadn't found them yet. His heart was beginning to sink. Wonderland was a vast world, who knew where they could be? If they even managed to escape it could take months to find them. He slumped within a canopy of large migratory flowers. The soft, overgrown petals felt wonderful as he laid upon them, their gentle rocking motion almost soothing him to sleep. He allowed himself to slowly reappear, confident that the flower petals would keep him out of sight. He traveled a good distance and even though his many shortcuts took the lesser walked route, it was still a rather far journey. He took the time to re-examine himself, slowly looking over the bandages. They were still secure which pleasantly surprised him. He knew where to go if he ever needed first aid again. However, tiny patches of red were beginning to spot the off-white bindings, reminding him to take it easy else re-open his wounds. He sighed and plopped back upon the soft petal. How easy would it be for him to close his eyes here and wake up to find that this had all been a dream. He shut his eyes for a moment and reopened them finding the same floral surroundings. Too easy..

He groaned, frustration sending him scratching his claws across the delicate membranes of the flower petals. Expectedly, they shook him off, whispering harsh phrases as he landed almost gracefully upon the soft soil. Their reaction was delightful and Cheshire had trouble chuckling through the slightly pained landing. It would take some time before the Infection made it here and he hoped they would remain untouched. They were already delicate, though large as they were. He couldn't see how they would fair against Jabberwockey's plague. He watched, entranced, as they kept their slow, lumbering gait, their roots swimming through the earth like fish and entwining on any sturdy structure to help pull them along. He wondered if Absolem's mushrooms moved as they did and wondered if Rhia would enjoy a spectacle such as this. His eyes widened and a manic grin spread over his face as a sudden realization hit him. "Absolem's mushrooms! Of course!" He snickered jumping back up into the petal-canopy, his pride overflowing at his streak of genius. If there was any place for Absolem to retreat he knew where..or at least it's where abouts. Like Cheshire's tree, Absolem's sanctuary was concealed and impenetrable to those unwelcome. He jumped through his 'shortcut' and raced through, one after the other, hoping that he was one of the welcome creatures to Absolem's home.

He had a lot of back-tracking to do, thus he moved swiftly, defying the dull throbbing and burning sensation his body was lashing upon him. He passed from plane to plane, charging through his many portals. He was making good time. He knew where each shortcut would take him and feeling that familiar presence nearing he knew he was close. He grinned wildly, his body hyped on adrenaline. He was laughing at himself for not thinking about it sooner. Where else would the Caterpillar run off too besides one of his beloved mushrooms? He slowed his gait, and faded once more, not wanting to bring any unwanted attention. Who knew where Jabberwockey was now or how many creatures he had under his thumb? He passed through one more shortcut before landing abruptly atop a trampoline-like mushroom top. He forgot when he created that shortcut, that he used to love racing full throttle and fling himself onto the bouncy fungi. Not only was it a fun way of travel, but it also served in annoying Absolem, and that was always a plus.

He laid a few moments, letting himself bounce a bit and catch his breath. If the trio had made it he definitely didn't want to reveal himself looking haggard and out of breath. He already did that once. What kind of reputation would he have if he continued appearing in this fashion? Thus, once he regained his breath, he rolled down into the lower patch, letting the larger mushroom tops hide him. He then sat up and made himself fully visible. He overlooked himself, hoping his multitude of bloody bandages wouldn't be that conspicuous. Cautiously, he bounced from one mushroom to the next, hoping he would find Absolem's special fungi. Last time he was invited, so he wondered if it would take that again to be allowed into its sanctity. He shrugged. If all else failed and he couldn't find the mushroom, he could just keep bouncing. That always seemed to goad him out before.

He had no idea where he was. He lay, pleasantly shaded by the mushroom tops, upon the soft forest floor. He had given up bouncing long ago, finding it too stressful on his injuries and taking too much effort. He hoped that when he arrived at the mushroom patch Absolem's home would stick out or that he would have some quick way of finding it. Of course things were never that simple. Who know there could be so many mushrooms of so many varying sizes? He gazed around the fungi forest, his eyes narrowed in irritation. They all look alike. How was he supposed to find the right one?

He sighed and closed his eyes, deciding to enjoy the softness of the earth for a while. He was tired and the forest floor around here felt wonderful. He dragged his fingers through the dirt, marking swirls and various scratches upon the earth. If he couldn't find Absolem's spot, he could always make his own. He exhaled dramatically allowing the faint sound of song to sooth him. He opened his eyes as his ears perked up. Song? There had been no music before. Grunting, he eased himself up onto his elbows and looked around, his ears twitching this way and that, attempting to lock on to the sound. A wild grin captured his features as he pushed himself off the ground and began towards the taciturn tune. As the music grew louder Cheshire's pace grew quicker. He darted through the giant fungi, his steps dancing to the tune until he reached a patch of flowers. His smile only faltered a moment when he discovered Absolem's house was still nowhere to be seen, but was quickly grinning at himself once more. "A barrier, you dim-wit." He looked upon the flowers, his brows raised in recognition. He had stumbled upon this species only a handful of times before and each time they proved themselves most unkind. "Pity," he sighed as their song reached its climax. They were such a beautiful breed. He chuckled, thinking upon his first encounter with them. "Beauty and beast all rolled into one."

He looked pass them and around the area. Seeing as they were planted around this specific spot, they had to be hiding something. He sat down before the flora, making sure to be out of reach. He still wasn't sure he was welcome and he had his fill of battle. He hunched over carefully, grimacing against the motion, to meet the plants. He whispered who he was and hoped they would belay the message of his arrival. Regardless if he was in the right spot or not, plants had a way of getting word around.

Absolem / Caterpillar

Absolem silently chuckled at Grey’s reactions, nuzzling closer to the boy to further distress and embarrass him. This is how it’s supposed to be child. Get used to it because this is what your fate shall become if you try to control me. He knew exactly what he was doing and Rhia was a purposed audience. He wanted her to see simply because it would intensify Grey’s humiliation. He felt the boy give into him, submission was an intoxicating treat, much better than any substance. He closed his eyes, resting finally, but his grip on Grey did not loosen up. He didn’t plan on releasing the boy. He opened his eyes, smirking at Rhia in satisfaction, “Oh really.. nice.” He laughed aloud, possibly the first time in front of them, “Your face is as red as his. I take it you’ve not be subjected to such submissions?” Absolem inquired from the young girl. This is more amusing than I expected, no wonder Cheshire enjoys doing things such as this!

“Wicked things..” he whispered in Grey’s ear, his voice eerie and sincere. Absolem was quite a enigmatic person, one couldn’t easily guess how he would react, not even him a majority of the time.

Absolem closed his eyes again, letting out a content sigh, “I’ll make sure to gather a few ideas so I can be really creative and have a fun time choosing the most suited.” He yawned softly. Absolem was taunting him. He was resting his eyes as asked, but he definitely didn’t plan on releasing Grey and sleeping.

“All I want to do is protect you until Cheshire arrives..” the man yawns before tugging the boy’s frame closer to his own as if Grey was a giant teddy bear.

Absolem frowned when he realized Cheshire finally made it to his precious flowers, his house appearing before the cat’s eyes. He was welcome, once the flowers got a visual and confirmed he was actually Cheshire, “He’s been expecting you, they’re inside the house~” one of the flowers sang, another swatting it, “You were off tune violet.” The rose frowned, “Cheshire’s just outside…” he yawned, watching Rhia brighten up.

Rhia

Rhia felt herself tense, what did he mean he’d do things to Grey!? She felt her eyes twitch, biting her bottom lip. Absolem made her nervous, but he seemed to be homosexual so she doubted she’d be in much danger. Rhia shared a similar thought, bitng her bottom lip. Cheshire hurry up.. this is awkward and embarrassing.. she closed her eyes, trying to not look at the boys, but it sounded even worse than watching when her eyes were closed.

Rhia shook her head ‘no’ when Grey seemed to be contemplating to plot an escape, or worse. She knew it would only make the magnitude of Absolem’s behavior increase like he promised it would. Not a good idea Grey, please don’t do anything stupid.. she thought to herself nervously.

As soon as Absolem mentioned Cheshire being outside she burst into a sprint for the door, hoping the cat wouldn’t hear her quick footsteps. She opened the door and went outside. Her pace was rushed, but she quickly ran and hugged Cheshire, careful of the cat’s bandages, “You look terrible..” she mumbled a bit angrily, but her embrace was warm, relieved. Happy to see him/her. She was terrible at showing how she truly felt.. Thank goodness he's okay..

He lay, sprawled on the grass waiting for the news of his arrival to spread. His tail flicked back and forth upon the dirt in annoyance. He hated waiting, regardless of how quickly he knew flowers gossiped; and as always anticipation made his wait seem that much worse. His eyes were closed and his ears were perked ready for any news. For what seems like ages, his ears are finally granted the sound he yearned to hear: "He's been expecting you, they're inside the house~" With a growing grin he opens his eyes and watches Absolem's home appear. "It's about time." he yells, hoping they can hear him inside.

He begins to stand, his eyes narrowed at how slowly his body is moving. Damn thing. Only works when it wants to.. His eyes shoot up towards the giant mushroom as he hears movement at the door. His demeanor brightens as he begins to think of all the ways he may be welcomed back. Would he be given smiles? Gifts? Praise? His grin grows. Oh, he would love praise. He stops, finally standing, his stance tall and broad and watches the door burst open. His huge grin falters however as Rhia exits and begins running towards him. "What is she doing?" he asks himself taking a small uncertain step back. His body tenses as she nears, his ears flat upon his head. That wretched Caterpillar! Did he turn her against me?! His keeps his arms slightly raised at his sides, his clawed fingers fidgeting. His eyes are wide as he watches the girl rush him, unsure of what to do. He didn't want to fight her, especially the way he was currently feeling, but he wouldn't be taken down easily. During this moment of weakness, is when Rhia comes upon him. He yelps slightly as she embraces him, startled by the action. He remains frozen for a moment as he realizes she's not attacking. Confusion covers his face as he looks her over and sees that she's carefully minding his wounds. "You look terrible.."

His ears twitch at her statement. He was up for a hero's welcome. Hell, he would take full advantage of one, but this? This was completely unexpected and honestly, it terrified him somewhat. Finally, having some control of himself, he gently rests his hands upon her. Tiny tremors rush through his frame and he hopes she sees it as weakness from his ordeal. He pats her head, cautiously, still somewhat in denial of the situation. No one touched Cheshire. Being allowed to lay on people was one thing, but someone touching him? Embracing him as such? Of their own will, even? Was shocking. Everything before had been merely jokes and playful jests. That was how Cheshire understood and showed affection. Uncertain if others even cared for or just accepted him. Rhia's actions, her raw way of showing exactly how she felt was a lot to swallow and he wasn't sure he was ready for it..or even if he deserved it.

Carefully, he pushes her away, his hands remaining upon her shoulders. He couldn't deny being overjoyed seeing her in good health and his smile is soft as he studies her over. Not even a scratch on her. He bends down to stare into her eyes. Her sudden change in behavior towards him makes him curious, however. Was she truly happy to see him? She showed no signs of being drugged as far as he could see, but possession wasn't out of the question. She was with Caterpillar for a while. Perhaps he got into her head somehow? "Has that mint-haired, lanky excuse for a Chain done anything to you? Drugs? Brainwashing?" His eyes were fixed upon her. He hoped Absolem was smart enough not to mess with his child, but he couldn't be sure. The punishment would be severe that much was certain.

Grey didn't think his eyes could get any wider but was soon proved wrong when Absolem whispered in his ear. he wasn't sure he wanted to find out what wicked things the man would come up with. With satisfaction he watched Absolem close his eyes, pleased that he'd soon go to sleep.

"Oh no he didn't," thought Grey in alarm.

Absolem appeared to be falling asleep but he didn't appear to be showing any signs of letting Grey go.

"Well at least you're enjoying yourself," muttered Grey as Absolem pulled him closer.

If the man wanted to use him like a teddy bear then fine, as long as he got some sleep. With a sigh he tried to look out the window, if he craned his neck he could just see Rhia and Cheshire reuniting outside. He would have gone to meet the cat too but it didn't look like he'd be going anywhere for a while.

"Fine, if he's not going to let go then I might as well get comfortable," he thought, "I guess I'm kind of tired even after my fainting spell."

Shifting gently he rested his head on Absolem's chest and closed his eyes. He could hear the man's heart beating, it was probably just his imagination but was it getting a little faster? Imagination or not, the thought brought a smile to Grey's lips.

"I should totally braid his hair to get back at him," mumbled Grey sleepily, not caring if Absolem heard him or not, "I think it'd be worth having to endure wicked things."

Listening to Absolem's breathing he began to fall asleep.

Rhia

Rhia tried to hide the fact that tears caressed down her cheeks as she held Cheshire tight as she could without causing him pain. She did her absolute best in trying to not give off the impression of being as pathetic as she felt and almost certainly was. Who am I kidding? He most likely doesn’t want me anywhere near this close after everything I've said.. but I’m so relieved.. she thought with a long, deep exhale. He didn’t seem to want me near him at all.. she shook off the thought however. She instead ran a hand up and down along his back, half making sure he was truly there, half to congratulate him, “I’m sorry..” she whispers in a feeble tone, not looking him in the eyes. I need to apologize.. who knows what the last words I’ll say to him would be? So she musters up the courage and begins the rest of her apology, “I shouldn’t have said what I did.. you’re not a coward..” it wasn’t intentional, but her voice got softer as her sentence continued, she wasn’t comfortable yet, she wasn’t sure how she should be, if changing would become necessary.. she was so scared and she just came to the realization that she was lashing out at Cheshire for it. He seemed to know so much about everything happening, he was just so insistent and assertive.. I couldn’t help but blame him for my confusion and fear.. but then he protected us and ended up looking like a mummy..

Rhia closed her eyes when the hug was returned. For a little while, her thoughts calmed and slowed down a bit. I guess.. it's not as bad as I thought.. biting her bottom lip in anxiousness she continued speaking, “Are you sure you’re alright?” she asked after a second of just taking the moment into her brain to store the memory. She didn’t recall the last time she was this close to someone, but it was refreshing and calming so she was sure it had been quite a while. She wasn’t aware of why Cheshire was responding so awkwardly. He seemed to be the type that invaded others privacy.. so why was he acting so odd? Was she hurting him? She loosened her hold even more, barely touching him now as she took his pain into further consideration. Then an interesting thought hit her; what is Cheshire to me? He wasn’t exactly a friend, and she knew next to nothing about him, but she was so worried about his well-being. He was the first to reach out to her, to talk to her. Cheshire was the one who broke her from the agonizing silence of that dreaded hall. She couldn’t describe how she felt toward him, it was too complicated. Grateful? In debt? No. There was a level of her caring for his safety and health, so what exactly was this feeling? She hated him, but she didn’t want his company to cease.. she found him refreshing and fun, but also annoying and frustrating. It was.. too complex for the simple girl to fully grasp. How can I hate him and like him?

The next reaction she received was slightly anticipated by the blue haired girl, actually she expected to be shoved away from the very beginning to be quite honest. She broke the eye contact that he began almost instantly, attempting to pull from his touch. I can’t.. she felt herself getting nervous now. She’d acted on her relief and guilt when she pulled him into an embrace. She didn’t actually take what she’d done into consideration until he forced her to let go, took control of their situation. She turned her head away from Cheshire completely, arms folding, “N-next time I’ll just laugh at you..” she mumbles. She felt a bit insulted having opened up to him accidentally then being asked if it was a result of drugs or brainwash. What the hell!? See if I put my pride on the line for you again! “No he didn’t! He’s been sick for a while because of me.. everyone got hurt today because of me..” She was clenching her fists so hard that her skin was turning white, “It was because I couldn’t do anything.. Grey’s even accidentally stumbled upon his ability already..” she was feeling highly inadequate and incompetent. Is something wrong with me? Somewhere along the lines her heart had sped up a bit, and her cheeks lightly flushed, “So.. just shut up. I didn’t want the last thing I said to you to be something like that.” She ended her retort with a mumble. She was..embarrassed.

Absolem / Caterpillar

Absolem sulks to himself, endeavoring to fight the urge to stand and greet his friend. Grey asked very little of him, sleep was the least he could do in order to repay the boy for the agonizing pain he’d endured for him. He’s got Rhia to welcome him, I’ll relax I suppose, “Quit your shouting!” Absolem snaps back, “I know you’re fine if you’ve got that sort of lung capacity!” he adds, twitching a bit. These two had that awkward relationship. It barely seemed like Absolem cared, but Rhia was the only one more worried than Caterpillar in truth. However, he wasn’t one to openly flaunt his relationships. Enemies abuse relationships between people.

Absolem chuckled a bit at the human male’s responses to his assertive behavior. He felt the seductive embrace of the dreadful forty winks creeping upon his eyelids. Soon he wouldn’t be able to control it. He would inevitably fall asleep. He looked peaceful and unintimidating as he laid there, holding the boy in his forceful embrace. He wasn't doing it as punishment anymore, this was because he wanted the boy near.

Laugh at me and you will regret it.. thought Absolem with an unhappy tone of thought.

“I am. For another male, you’re quite comfy Grey.” Absolem taunted further in a low frightening tone, at least it was frightening because Absolem never spoke in such a threatening and provocative tone with anyone in Wonderland before.

Absolem opened one rosy eye to see Cheshire and Rhia, “Heh.. why don't they go ahead and kiss and make up..? Actually it’s kind of disgusting, nevermind. Not in front of my house.” Absolem closed his eyes, not once loosening his grip on Grey. Perhaps it was fear of being abandoned, or his exhaustion was speaking, but he was acting quite childish and selfish over the blonde.

“Braid my hair and that blush earlier will compare quite pathetically to the humiliation I will put you through with Cheshire and Rhia as witness.” Absolem warned him with a glare.

Perhaps, asking whether she had been brainwashed was the wrong way to go. He didn't mean to cause any offense and his stomach dropped slightly on the thought that he may have reversed what they had made up in those few short seconds. However, her declaration of his heroic actions caused a wicked smile to bloom over his face and he decided to run with it. "Now what kind of knight would I be if I were a coward, eh, Princess?" He still wasn't exactly sure what to take of the situation, he was still fighting the lingering terror of it all, but it was uplifting to see her views of him had changed. For some reason he meant something to her and now that he knew that..he didn't want to give it up.

His features perked when his eyes found her tear-streaked cheeks. Oh no..not that..All this raw emotion was too much. Hesitantly placing a hand upon her cheek, he gently tugged her face towards him, wiping the moisture away with his thumb. He wasn't sure there were ways to comfort an upset woman, but he figured he'd give it a shot. "Why are you crying? Look," he pulls his arms out to his sides to emphasize his presence, "I'm fine. All in one piece, more or less. Stop acting like someone died. I'm alive. That in itself should be cause of celebration." He let a wild grin stretch across his face. Celebration, yes, that sounded wonderful. He stood, turning himself and Rhia towards Absolem's home. "Come. Let's bring some life to those inside, since they're too caught up to greet me!" He yelled the last words, playing off Absolem's comment on his lung capacity. It didn't really bother him that Rhia was the only one to meet him, it gave them time alone to mend things, but he was curious as to why the other two hadn't come with her.

Taking her hand he pulls her along towards the house. He remained quiet until they reached the door, thinking on Rhia's last comment. Why hadn't she found her ability yet? Was it because he forced his contract upon her and she hadn't truly excepted it yet? He gazed upon her with curiosity before going inside. "Don't fret about your gifts. They'll come when you're ready," he leaned back and looked upon her with a sheepish smirk, crossing his arms, "I didn't think it would matter, but maybe you need a physical action to accept the contract." Without waiting for her to acknowledge the statement, he leans down and takes her face in his hands, bringing his forehead to rest against hers. His voice is soft, but stern as he gazes upon her. "You can break this if you wish. All you have to do is pull away."His eyes then widen and a feeling similar to static posses them. He smiles feeling the slight tickle as an energy passes from his eyes into her, showing itself in a bright, swirling array of colours. For a moment the two are connected and he can't help but grin at the sudden excitement of it. Then as sudden as it began the energy disappeared. He stood and smirked at his child. He hoped she would accept him. She managed to get under his skin and it seemed he had managed the same in her. Perhaps, they would be fine afterall.

Placing a hand upon the Caterpillar's home he gives Rhia a wink and heads inside. A contract was a contract, regardless of how one was made. Though the theatrics of rituals never hurt, especially if it was in a person's mind that they may need something to help with their own transformation, all she really needed to do was accept him. "So," he began walking briskly inside, "What's so important that you couldn't-" He stopped in mid-gait as his eyes fell upon the couple. Were they..cuddling? The sides of his mouth twitched as he studied the two, holding eachother in blissful sleep. There would be no living this down. He fell to the ground letting loose a burst of laughter. He knew he would hear a mouthful from Absolem, but he didn't care. Currently, everyone was alive and well and the situation was just too good to pass up.

Absolem / Caterpillar

Absolem sniggered at the youth’s response, a fulfilled smirk crossing his pastel lips. His eyes closed calmly as if he had time to be lighthearted and aloof. Absolem was compassionate when he sought to be, but also quite roguish and punishing when the condition called for such conduct. “ But of course.. ” Absolem retorted in a soothing tone, amused with the boy’s uneasy shift of his body. Do I make you this jumpy? Please don’t make it mind-numbingly easy! Absolem laughed softly to himself, shaking his head at the boy. He is too innocent. I am afraid this game of the Queen’s is going to destroy him entirely.. Absolem ran a hand through the boy’s blonde hair absentmindedly, a dark blush crossing his face when he was clung to. W-what do you think you are doing!? He didn't realize what the boy was dreaming about, but oddly he resembled a tree very well. However, if Grey told him that’s why he nuzzled the older man in his sleep, he’d be paying a disastrous price for embarrassing him so on accident. Absolem went openmouthed when abruptly stirred by Cheshire’s closer voice. I probably need to grab a book of riddles, leave, crawl under a rock and commence dying. This is cruel and unusual torture. He never actually ‘slept’ in the company of others, especially bearing in mind the Jabberwocky was stirring around. He instantly tried to wriggle his frame free of the blonde, “ I swear I’ll rip you apart if I get out of this death grip.. ” his snarled at the cat in irritation and masked humiliation, much like a sibling whom got teased for having being caught with an significant other. However, this made the feline lucky. Had it been anyone else, it would’ve resulted in a much more violent and messy intent. If he actually ever succeeded in catching and restraining Cheshire, he already had his plan long decided. I’ll shave off all your hair, fur, whatever that is… then I’ll rip you apart.. not that it would do much good.. He silently chuckled at the idea, letting the situation slide for now. “ Congratulations on cheating death.. ” Absolem smirked, trying to regain some of his rapidly fading dignity. He'd definitely punish Grey. One way or another, he would get revenge for this misunderstanding. “ How many of your nine lives are left? ” he teased, trying to overlook his… homosexual incident. Then he looked between Rhia and Cheshire, eyes sparkling with a hint of entertainment across his features, “ Kiss and make up yet? ” the man quirked an eyebrow amused. He seemed to enjoy making Grey and Rhia uncomfortable, meanwhile possibiliy irritating the feline. It was great fun annoying three people at once without fear of repercussions.

Rhia

Rhia opened her mouth to say something, but promptly sealed it shut, jerking when he nicknamed her princess, “ D-don’t call me that! “ she protests aloud, but was almost immediately silenced by his subsequent action. Her eyes widened quite noticeably when he wiped her tears away, biting her bottom lip. She further dries her face, jolting her head in the ‘no’ motion, “ I-I’m not! ” she stammers in denial, tensing in recognition that she was succumbing to her fragility, conveying it recklessly in front of Cheshire. She wanted to kick herself for being so blind to her burst of irrational behavior. She clenches her eyes shut before whirling around so her back faced him. She plead her diminutive aquamarine hair was sufficient to obscure it from his line of vision, but her cheeks were deeply flushed. This isn’t fair! Quit saying overwhelming things.. I can’t cope with it right now. I thought you died because of us! “ Well you could have. ” She mumbled defiantly. He wants to celebrate after getting mauled? What is wrong with his inner function? She ran a hand through her hair, trying to calm her embarrassment before he noticed. He’d never let her live it down. Rhia went wide eyed when twirled to reface Absolem’s house, opening her mouth once again as if to tell him something, but closing it for the second time. He’ll see soon enough for himself I suppose. She dropped her head, letting him yell at the mint man and the blonde. She was beginning to feel more and more regret as to the method in which she apologized. The longer she had to think about it, the more distressing the thought was. I did something embarrassing again.. crap. Well, now Cheshire will get to make fun of Absolem for the rest of his days about being homosexual.. maybe he will overlook me?

Rhia braved the hand holding nicely for such an physically introverted person, though it all went downhill when he stopped pulling her along. Gradually she sensed herself tensing up once he had stopped at the door, internally praying he’d just continue on into the house. She peered up at him apprehensively. Oh god, what now? I didn’t say anything! That nosy look on his face was unraveling her confidence. Just why are you staring at me like that for? We have two days until the games, not to mention the Jabberwocky appears to have a peculiar vendetta with you! Her gaze softened, becoming a little composed and more laidback. She opened he mouth to protest, but before she uttered a single syllable, she discovered they were temple-to-temple. Her face shifted between shades of pink, completely taken off guard, “ W-what do you mean by that!? ” she asks alarmed by the vagueness of his words. Physical action?! Is everyone from Wonderland a pervert? First, Absolem threatening to discipline Grey, then, Cheshire shifting chillingly close to her? She was unsure what he was referring to, but she decided to give him a minute of her trust. She blinks a few times, bewilderment crossing her features before shock overtook her expression, rendering her speechless. She was at a loss of words. It took her a moment to register she was allowed to move freely once he let go, but she quivered previous to adverting her gaze, “ Idiot.. ” she stated barely audible. She didn't mean it, insulting him was just how she coped with embarrassment. Rhia blinked a bit, hearing something inside of her head; -W-what do you think you are doing!?- She looked around, it was Absolem’s voice inside of her head..? She strained to keep her mind off it, but it was problematic to overlook something as concerning as that. What did Cheshire do..?

Rhia made a face at Cheshire, a sulky expression following. Today was still stressing her out, she felt the need to reflect on it and learn how to not repeat the mistakes made, but his major concern was having splendid time and it seemed he was enjoying himself in adding onto her list of stressful thoughts. No wonder he transforms so much.. he’s worse than a woman or man so he has to be both. That’s the only way to describe this walking enigmatic existence. She sighed when he burst out laughing, “ I tried to tell you sooner.. ” she muttered, walking to one of the empty couches, returning to her defensive, distant persona once under the other male individuals range of acknowledgement .

-I’ll shave off all your hair, fur, whatever that is…then I’ll rip you apart.. not that it would do much good- Rhia stirred again, feeling even further distraught. Am I.. hearing Absolem’s thoughts? She decided to test the theory, “ Absolem, does your revenge consist of shearing Cheshire’s hair..err..Fur? Whichever it is..? ”

Cheshire

"I swear I’ll rip you apart if I get out of this death grip.." Absolem's words only added to Cheshire's merriment as he struggled to catch his breath. He had managed to sit up and was now clutching his stomach in agonizing amusement. Laughter definitely wasn't a friend. He grimaced, attempting to calm down as Absolem flailed in the boy's grasp. "Death grip indeed," he snickered, fighting off an other surge of hilarity, "Careful. If he hugs you any tighter I fear it may prove lethal." He turned his attention towards Rhia, who slumped pass him and jabbed a thumb at the pair, "No wonder you were so quick to meet me. They've been at it the whole time, haven't they?"

Cheshire's grin matched Absolem's snarl as he mustered his wits. Gruesome as the past hours have been, being back in this familiar territory was marvelous. Slowly, he stood, taking his time to place himself against the wall. "Thanks," Cheshire sighed as Absolem congratulated him. He folded his arms as a sarcastic smirk ghosted his lips, "You always had a way with words. You make it sound so much better than what actually occurred." His tone quieted somewhat upon returning to the numerous beasts he slaughtered, adding more fuel to Jabberwockey's flame. Hard as he tried, he couldn't rid himself of the blame he carried, knowing he aided in the Plague's contract or the bruising he took to his pride upon running. He shook his head and met Absolem's gaze. He could brood later. Now was the time to 'live it up'. He was alive and so were they.

"Do you take me for a housecat?" he scoffed, feigning insult, "I have more lives than you can imagine, Abs. Some might even go as far as saying I'm immortal." He caught Caterpillar's inquiring gaze and couldn't help but chuckle. He strode over to Rhia and plopped down onto the arm of the couch, giving them enough space as not to cause too much discomfort. Not only was it an excuse to bring about that forbidden tint to her cheeks, but it was a covert way for him to sink into something soft and restful. "Mmhm," he managed to mumble, waving his hand dismissively, sinking into the plush, "You can ask the girl all the scandalous details.." Maybe celebrating could wait. His body was begging for sleep and his eyes had nearly shut when Rhia asked of Absolem's revenge concerning his fur. He opened a narrowed eye, darting it between Caterpillar and the girl, "What's this about my fur..?" his voice growled into the couch.

Destra/Tweedle Dum

He was still a little jumpy from the bird display but managed to calmly walk to the cottage and rummage around for a rapier, he was sure that they had one lying around somewhere. At last he found it. Triumphantly he rushed outside and handed it to Moonlight with an extravagant bow.

"You said something about fencing so this should be perfect," said Destra, smiling at the girl and Sinistra, " Now why don't you try hitting the dummy as hard as you can and then as fast as you can?"

He looked forward to seeing what she could do, the only person he usually saw fight was Sinistra and that was usually when he was the opponent so he didn't really have time to admire his moves.

"Just give it your best shot," he said warmly, "I'm sure you'll do fine."

Isaiah "Grey" Gris

The tree was moving, wriggling, trying to slip away from his grip. With a gasp he realised that it wasn't a tree but some sor of giant snake and it was going to eat him. Eyes wide with terror he watched the snake's head come down and then everything went black...

His eyes snapped open, his mind was a whirlwind and he couldn't tell what was real and what was the dream. There were people here but his mind refused to recognise them. Panicked he pushed away from the figure next to him and desperately ran to hide under the table.

"Dead," he said shakilly, "They're all dead, why did they die? Why didn't I die?"

Tears streamed down his face as he wrapped his arms around his knees and began to rock back and forth.

"Absolem, why?" he cried quietly, "Where were you? Why did you let it happen? I need you Absolem."

Part of him knew that this was silly and that he was still waking up from the dream but it had felt so real that his mind was giving in to the feverish thoughts. As far as he knew, the three figures in the room were minions of the Jabberwocky, if any of them tried to get near him he would lash out. He wouldn't let any of them touch him.

Rhia

Rhia immediately raised her hands from the couch, “W-what do you mean by that?” she inquired getting uneasy. They’ve been at what the whole time..? She shook her head trying to recapture control over her thoughts, “The embracing? That started not too long before you arrived actually. We wanted Absolem to take a breather because he looked beat.. they both got pretty overworked.. Grey lost consciousness and Absolem looked pretty ill before he ate.” Rhia took a deep inhalation afterwards. She definitely overreacted; her panicked reaction was evidence enough.

She yawned softly, blushing a dim shade of pink subsequently. Her world was upside down. Strength was hard to show in these conditions. She was still adapting. She wasn’t even sure if what happened earlier was her new ability. She knew the two of the Chains were talking, but their words were blurred, incoherent to her ears. Too much happened recently. She couldn’t remember anything about herself, she woke up in an empty hall alone, then she met Cheshire. She got angry at Cheshire’s forward and insistent attitude, he left her alone, he returned and she met Caterpillar and Grey, then Jabberwocky attacked Cheshire and she had to go on the run with Absolem, then Cheshire thankfully returned, then he embarrassed her.. and now everything was normal?? She just wanted sleep again.. partake in something effortless and serene. I don’t know how to feel. I can’t tell the difference between who I am and who everyone wants me to be anymore.. but did I really know who I was in the first place?

She felt her face ignite into a glow of bright pink when she suddenly noticed Cheshire was closer to her, much closer than he was before she indulged in her thoughts. When did he come over here? She subconsciously chews on her thumbnail timidly, not breaking the nail, but just trying to release her nervousness on something else in a nonchalant manner. Her eyes shifted upon the room, pretending to examine it. She was calming down until Cheshire’s words broke through her attempts, “W-what scandalous details!?” she squeaked out in a startled, disbelieving voice, “N-nothing happened! Don’t give people impressions like that!” she snapped in a flustered tone, scooting towards the opposite arm of the couch that the two of them were on. Why would you say something like that!? Rhia pouted, resting her head against the one not inhabited by a chain bent of destroying her mental stability, “I dunno. I heard it somehow.” She shrugs. She wasn’t about to admit it was inside her head, especially more than once. She wasn’t raving mad! They’d definitely tease her for going crazy and starting to hear ‘voices’ in her head, “M-maybe I imagined it..” she tried to brush it off, biting her bottom lip nervously. Definitely can’t admit to hearing voices.. Cheshire would tease me or even worse, he might get even more worried about me.. I worry him enough as it is..

Thankfully the next event drew attention off of her and onto Grey before the situation about her hearing Absolem's thoughts in her head or perhaps even the possibility of the two chains brawling in the floor got out of hand. Though, she jumped out of her skin when he moved so suddenly, hiding her face in the unoccupied arm of the couch. Please tell me they were both too busy focusing on Grey and didn’t realize that I got startled so girlishly? She gripped onto the arm of the couch, Grey’s behavior was concerning her. He was so much more composed than her, just what would she go through?

Die? When did he come close to dying? She couldn’t help her inquisitiveness, but she knew now wasn’t the time for her to speak up. This was Absolem’s problem, his business. Not hers or Cheshire’s. She gave him a look to not intervene, hoping he caught on. It was tough enough to face him once due to her rosy cheeks undesirably being on display in the process. She knew she couldn’t do it twice. She returned her face to the vacant arm, nuzzling against it tiredly, trying to not be concerned with Grey. He’s frightening me.. am I going to break down like that? It looks painful, lonely..

Absolem / Caterpillar

Absolem visibly twitched in his frustration at Cheshire. Damn cat quit laughing at me or I’ll finish what the Jabberwocky began! He was about to shout out a few insults, however his disposition calmed as he noticed Cheshire’s contorted expression, a smirk replacing Absolem’s signature frown when the feline seemed to have overexerted his wounds, his cold eyes glistening with their own delight, “Did you brush your wounds the wrong way~?” He teased in a ‘baby talk’ voice, or at least, his best attempt of one, “Despite common belief I’m not in as poor health as many think. I’m sturdier than porcelain glass.” The green haired man hisses, still in attempt to worm himself free of his contractor. He twitched a bit, snapping instantly, “At it!? What are you accusing me of!?” His face was furious, red. Almost as if he’d used the forbidden nickname.

“I could’ve worded it quite more exquisitely if I wasn’t exhausted and having gained an extra hundred pounds suddenly.” He ushers towards the sleeping Grey, then decides to taunt Cheshire, “Who knows, maybe there would have been a nice dinner waiting..” but he shrugs with an aloof nature just after using a hopeful, depressed tone. He was trying to irritate him in return, “Oh well. Do help yourself to soup. I figured you probably forgot to feed the poor child so I took the liberty in cooking.” He ran a hand through his now quite knotted green locks before returning his attention back to the feline, “You saved your contractor, that’s heroic enough I suppose. Considering this game, that’s all that matters for the moment.” He closed his eyes, shaking his head, “Would you rather me speak of your failures? I can bring out the old scrapbooks.. I’m sure Rhia would love to see..”

Absolem blinked, deciding to play along and follow in Cheshire’s display, feigning an uninformed disposition, “You’re not the Queen’s housecat?!” he inquires in false astonishment, mocking Cheshire, “Good, the only pet she’d be capable of keeping would most surely have to be immortal.” Absolem raised an eyebrow at the two. Something seems.. different about these two. Did something happen outside? Now this is curious indeed, very entertaining seeing Cheshire behave this way. I will have to pay much closer attention.. Absolem chuckled a bit, watching the girl’s face light up like a Christmas tree. One could surely fry an egg on her face by this point. So that’s how it is.. Typical female. He saved her life and now she’s gawking and fawning over him subconsciously? Don’t tell me he chose this feeble of a contractor.. Cheshire just what did you base your decision on? The green haired man sighed to himself, laying back and closing his eyes, “Are you two taking this serious or simply kicking it back and romancing..?” he asked exasperated with a hardly noticeable indication of concern. His eyebrows raised as Cheshire was informed of his thoughts, “Ah, I see she may prove useful yet! She snuck her way into my thoughts, it won’t happen again I assure you..” his jaw was tense, a bit angered that he’d for once been clearly bested, “I thought about shaving it if you ever anger me.. your new toy invaded my thoughts without permission.”

Absolem was actually almost asleep until Grey shot across the room and under a table. He sat up slowly, walking over to the other male regardless. He’s still asleep technically isn’t he? He sighed, deciding to try and calm down his own contractor. Apparently he was coping as well. How much was Grey silently enduring for him? Am I being selfish expecting so much from him?

He knelt down slowly infront of the boy, hand outstretched, for once, a full smile across his features. Absolem looked gentle and kindhearted as he spoke in a soothing voice, “Come on out. It’s me, Absolem.. I’ve been here the whole time..you were hugging me!” he chuckled, “Wake up Grey, you’re still having a nightmare.” He cooed gently, slowly reaching to touch the other male’s cheek reassuringly.

“You’re alive for the same reason Rhia is. You're alive because as long as me and Cheshire are here to protect you and Rhia, you’re both going to be fine. As much as we disagree I am sure by now he can agree with me on that.” Do I really care about leaving Wonderland? Leaving this poor child to become a chain without guidance? Though.. if we lose.. I’ll be imprisoned and never see the poor thing anyhow..
Absolem withdrew his hand, knowing it might only unset Grey further. “If I was trying to harm you, I would have already now wouldn’t I?” He tried to reason with the boy, “Here, I’ll prove it’s me…” He closed his eyes pondering for a moment before biting his bottom lip, jerking back to liveliness and a comforting expression after an idea hit him.

“If I’m not Absolem.. how would I know the first riddle he ever asked you? It definitely was; If you come across two men, one always lies, and one always tells the truth. One is an Saint, the other a sinner. What question do you ask to tell whom is who?” He smiled satisfied with his approach. Tease my child and someone shall be missing a hand.. he’s been so brave and loyal until now.. “Or would I know about the punishment threats?”

Isaiah "Grey" Gris

One of the figures was coming towards him, that definitely wasn't allowed. Heart pounding he tried to scramble away but got caught in the legs of the chairs around the table. He winced as the figure reached out towards him, it was speaking but the words made no sense. He was preparing to bite the hand and it drew closer to his face when something caught his eye, the figure had green hair, mint green hair.

"Wh-which hand is your left," Grey said with a nervous smile as Absolem brought up the first riddle he'd ever asked, "That would be the easy answer."

He didn't bring up the punishments, he was curious what Absolem had in store but decided that could wait till later. Slowly he crawled out from under the table and rubbed his eyes, looking down at the ground. He was sure that he looked a dreadful sight. His hair would be a tangled mess and his eyes would be red. He was embarassed that Rhia, Cheshire and Absolem had seen him act like that but more than that he was mad at how badly the dream had upset and affected him. Closing his eyes he placed his head in his hands and tried to refocus, he didn't want to appear weak infront of Absolem, it would be letting the man down. No matter how hard he tried though he kept seeing images of all those bodies surrounding him and other aspects of the dream, each time they would make him shudder and the tears would threaten to well up again. He cursed himself for not being stronger

"I'm so sorry Absolem," he said, refusing to look the man in the eye, "You're probably regretting your choice of such a weak person to contract with. I'm sorry that I've let you down."

Would Absolem want to replace him? Perhaps things would be better that way, at least then the man might win. In Grey's opinion that was all that really mattered now.

Sinistra/Tweedle Dee

Sinistra watched silently as Moonlight began to attack the dummy. It appeared that she had some skill and she was fast. Watching her dance and weave around the dummy reminded him of how Destra fought when he wasn't thowing his knives around. That was something Sinistra had always admired about his brother, the way he could be standing perfectly still one moment and then would become an elegant whirlwind of blades the next.

"I think that was pretty good," he said to Moonlight, carefully taking the rapier from her, "Of course you could always get better, do you use your whole weight when stabbing?"

As far as styles go he could see that Moonlight had a lot to work with but the question was, did she have the imagination to bring out its potential?

Cheshire

He stared at the girl, eyebrows raised. Imagined it? Somehow that didn't seem logical, then again what was in His Wonderland? Did she really hear something or just guess what Absolem was thinking? She'd been in his presence long enough to know his threats, maybe it was just dumb luck. He studied the way she drew her hands to her face, gnawing on her nails. Obviously, it stressed her else she wouldn't be reacting as such, maybe she did hear something. His ears perked as Caterpillar agreed to her statement. Maybe it was her gift? Did she accept him so quickly? He tilted his head at the girl, smirking at her flush. Maybe it was all in her head and that ritual was all she needed to finally accept the contract. Ah, humans..they're so predictable.Turning his attention to Absolem, he opened his mouth to retort but quickly clamped it shut as Grey threw himself under the table. Cheshire immediately tensed and shot up fully alert. "What the hell?!" he shouted angrily, clutching at his sides. The sudden motion startled him and tensing as such hurt. He glared icily at the boy as he rocked back in forth under the table. Pain made him angry and unconsciously reacting to the sudden childish fit of fear made him extremely annoyed. "Oh, I can surely help with that," he hissed under his breath referring to Grey's question of 'Why didn't I die?'

Though, seeing Absolem's sudden take on the situation, he clamped his mouth shut. Livid as he was, seeing Absolem in such a tender state was immediately prioritized. Was he actually comforting the boy? And did he just chuckle? The cat's mouth dropped and for once he was speechless. The tospy-turvy twist on his and Rhia partnership and now the affectionate actions caught between Absolem and Grey was exasperating. He muttered incoherently, turning away, for once too embarrassed to partake on the situation and resumed to laying down. Let him play Mother, it was no concern of his. He glanced over, noting Rhia's silence and met her baleful gaze. He spread his arms in baffled confusion, mouthing the word 'what?' the resumed to pouting. Curling up on the arm of the couch he closes his eyes and tries to block out the odd couple's conversation though his ears twitch as he overhears Absolem's statement: 'You’re alive for the same reason Rhia is. You're alive because as long as me and Cheshire are here to protect you and Rhia, you’re both going to be fine. As much as we disagree I am sure by now he can agree with me on that.' His ears jingled as they lowered upon his head. Who knew taking in strays would carry such responsibility? He thought back on Jabberwockey. The pause was nice, but they would have to resume to figuring out what could be done about the Plague whilst they had the time. He clutched his sides tenderly, remembering the fight and snuggled deeper into the cushion. Could he really protect them when he barely escaped himself? He mentally sighed, Alright, I'll play along. Absolem looked after his child, the least he could do is return the favour.

Absolem frowned a bit, raising an eyebrow. Bite me and it shall be the last thing you do Grey. He mentally warned the blonde, twitching a bit in irritation. How did I sign up for this babysitting job anyway? He desperately wanted to give the Queen a piece of his mind, but that wouldn’t end well for him or the child so he kept his thin lips clamped shut until the boy calmed. He nodded a bit. That’s better. Now you’re behaving.

“Good, so now you realize it’s me.” Absolem grinned at Grey, smiling at him as reassuringly as possible, “See. Absolem.” He chuckled, trying his best to keep up his kind façade. He wanted so much to taunt and tease the boy, but he couldn’t.. it would only make things much worse.

Absolem ruffled up Grey’s hair, rolling his eyes. Humans were so fragile. What did he think was attacking him while sleeping in my home? Doesn’t he realize just how difficult it is to penetrate the walls of my home? He dared Cheshire to taunt Grey, this wasn’t the time, as tempting as it was.

Absolem sighed a bit to himself, shaking his head at the blonde, “Even if I were to regret it, it’s too late for something as futile as that. I however, do not and shall not. So don’t even fret on such silly things.” He smirks at the blonde, “Now, regain your composure and pride. Take a deep breath and calm down..”

Why would I want to replace him? With whom? Humans are such touchy creatures. Who does he take me for? I’m much too accustomed to him already.

----

Rhia opened one eye, snickering aloud at Cheshire’s reaction to Grey, “Scardy cat.” She smirked at him, satisfied with his embarrassing behavior. That’s what you get. She giggled a bit before finally she wiped her eyes, “You’re too jumpy.” She grinned at him, nuzzling the couch with a yawn. For once she was in a good mood while tired. Perhaps being in the soft couch brightened her mood? She stretched before giggling again, “Calm down, we all have nightmares..” she mumbled rubbing her eyes sleepily.

Rhia just blinked watching Grey. His behavior made her nervous. Was this supposed to happen to her? Was she going to react like that? These thoughts constantly posed a threat to her pride and nagged at her subconscious. She ignored it when Grey came to, closing her eyes trying to pretend she’d never seen what happened. I know what it’s like to feel so humiliated you wouild rather die, I won’t make fun of you or acknowledge it.. I’m not strong either, don’t fret. We’re going to have to grow according to this game, both of us, all four of us honestly.

She was also trying to ignore Cheshire who smirked when his taunting proved successful. I’ll push you off the couch.. she mumbled to herself. I won’t feel bad, you’re androgynous. She rubbed her temple with her fingers, trying to not get too irritated as she remained curled up in her corner of the couch. Her blue hair rested against the arm of the sofa that she’d claimed, letting the other pair have ‘a moment’ to themselves, as if she wasn’t present in the first place.

Rhia rolled her eyes when he seemed to not catch her drift, mouthing back the words; ‘forget it..’ she laughed aloud when he began to pout again, “I think I can get used to this..” she yawns, closing her eyes and actually attempting to go to sleep, not fighting it like before. I’m too tired to play it tough..and it feels so cozy here.. It took a few moments, but before Absolem even began to mention why her and Grey would be safe, she was breathing softly, aqua bangs sliding over her eyes.

Isaiah "Grey" Gris

Grey smiled nervously, finally looking at Absolem with relief. The man wasn't going to replace him, that was good, he didn't want to wander around this strange place by himself and he didn't know how long he'd last by himself. Taking a deep breath he went and sat back on the couch, fiddling with the ends of his hair.

"I...I was in the wasteland again..." he said quietly.

Nobody had asked for an explaination but he still felt the need to tell the others about the dream.

"There were bodies all around me," continued Grey, "Everyone was killed by the Jabberwocky and then it came for me."

Tears welled up in his eyes as he remembered how sad he had felt when he'd seen Absolem's lifeless body lying before him and the fear that had taken over as the Jabberwocky attacked. What would the others think of him? Would they see it as a sign of weakness? Absolem was being nice at the moment but he seemed annoyed, Grey was almost hoping that the man would crack some smart remark or threaten him again, at least then he'd know that everything was back to normal.

"I'm sorry if I scared anyone," he said, hugging his knees to his chest, "And Absolem, I'm sorry that I tried to force to rest before."

But then a new thought crossed his mind. Why was he sorry? He just wanted the man to go to sleep so he could recover.

"But what I said before still stands," he said cheekilly, trying to keep a grin under control, "Go to sleep or I'll sit on you."

Talking to Absolem like this was like playing with fire, he knew that now but he still couldn't resist, it would be funny to see what Absolem's reaction would be.

Destra/Tweedle Dum

Destra was about to comment on the way Moonlight danced around while she fought but was interrupted by a squealing noise as a momerath shot out of the nearby bushes with a note attactche to it. Raising an eyebrow he leapt at the shrieking green pig. It appeared the Duchess had sent a note. Tackling the momerath he gently untied the note and read it, eyes widening in horror.

"No way," he mumbled, shooting a panic laden glance at Sinistra, "This can't be happening."

On the note was a simple message but still it was enough to frighten both the twins.

The Jabberwocky is loose. Run.

"Looks like the game just got a whole lot harder," said Destra, retying the note to the momerath and taking a seat next to Sinistra.

He didn't mention the contents of the note to Moonlight. If she asked then he would tell her but there was no point in terrifying her needlessly. Looking at his brother he was sure that this was something they agreed on.

Cheshire

His ears twitched and he opened his eyes. Scardy cat? Did I hear that right? Slowly he pushed himself up and turned back and faced Rhia. He was about to give her mouthful of how wrong she was, but was caught off guard by her reaction. She was enjoying herself, which was strange. Was she pleased that Grey had cracked? He tilted his head. Her giggling could mean anything. He was used to her being quiet and fidgety, not so relaxed and..taunting? Was she actually taunting him? His pout slowly transformed into a small smirk. You little minx..

He let her comments slide, actually finding them amusing, regardless if it was at his expense. The girl had back bone that was certain, she needed to get in the habit of showing it more. He turned away and sank back into the cushion, starring at the odd couple who still were on the floor. His nose scrunched when he overheard Grey's dream of Jabberwockey and could stay quiet no longer. He let the two have a moment, but now wasn't the time to play nice. The boy would have to grow a pair and if Absolem wasn't able to help with that fact, he'd take it on himself. "You have a right to be scared, boy. Your dream could very well happen," Cheshire crossed his arms and locked his eyes on the child, glancing every now and again at Absolem. Irritation was present in his tone, but he didn't care, "The Plague is out there as we speak, corrupting and getting stronger. If you wish to survive, or for any of us to survive, toughen up. Do you think Jabberwockey is merciful? I made it back, but just barely. His power is.." His voice trails off as his mind slips back to the fight. Horrible..It's just horrible.. He shakes his head and returns back to the conversation, "Is unimaginable. So. if you really want to help, I need to know we can trust you. You are not my responsibility, child, but I will protect you. Will you protect us or will you crack?"

He let his speech sink in. He knew he was being harsh, but from what he saw of the boy, he needed it. Playing nice, pretending everything was going to be ok wasn't going to help any of them. He hated living a lie, and judging by the irritation in Absolem's face, he could see the Chain possibly felt the same way. He just hoped he didn't anger the Caterpillar too badly. He rests his eyes upon Absolem now, his anger and irritation used up, "I took refuge with the Duchess and luckily The Beast didn't follow me. Before I left I asked her to send word of Jabberwockey's freedom. Hopefully she did. We need to gather everyone and take The Plague out. As is, it'll pick us off one by one," He gazed around at the trio, he was completely serious, for once, not a crack of amusement ghosted his frame, "This isn't something that will go away and leave us alone. Abs, you know this. And as heroic and powerful and cool as I am, my claws and teeth only go so far. We need the vorpal blade." To tell the truth, the though of coming up against Jabberwockey both excited and terrified Cheshire. He had looked death in the eye and survived, not many come out of situations like that completely fine, but his Wonderland was at stake. Not just his child or himself, or the others, his entire world and he would fight for it.

Absolem / Caterpilliar

Absolem stood and laughed at Grey, wiping off his pants with a snicker, “Good, now you’ve calmed down.” He smirked, slowly slipping back into his aloof and uncaring nature. He looked to Rhia for a moment who seemed to be sleeping, tilting his head perplexed, “How can she sleep so peacefully at a time like this?”

“I see, but soon, we do not have the luxury to make such mistakes about reality, so you need to learn the difference. It could prove between life and death.” Absolem warned.

Absolem ran a hand through his hair, “Cheshire is quite right, it is possible. I won’t lie. Apparently my reassurance isn’t very helpful so far, but I wanted to keep you as innocent as long as I could, in two days you will find yourself in a whole new world and I doubt you will appreciate any of it.” His pink eyes shifted between the cat and Grey, not at all affected by his contractor being spoken to so harshly, “It’s my job to inform you, which I planned to eventually, but it seems he’s beaten me once again.” Absolem shrugs indifferently.

“It’s quite alright, you meant well I suppose..” but his eyes flickered to a more dangerous expression, “But I’m not the type to submit to anyone.. remember that .” Absolem was telling the truth, he never truly submitted to the Queen, he found his own way of doing things, adding his personality into everything he does. He was never loyal to her.

“I’m terrified. You weight a whole one hundred pounds?” he asked raising his eyebrow at the other male mockingly, “I doubt that can keep me anywhere long.” He stated honestly, smirking at the other male, “Besides, I’m sure Cheshire is quite sick of the cuddling.. but I will rest soon, I assure you. We all should, especially Cheshire and his wounds.” Absolem smirks at Cheshire tauntingly, eyes sparkling with a taunting look as he gazes upon the cat. You’ve been rather touchy with my contractor, are you that brutally blunt with her? His gaze turned to the sleeping girl, then he shook his head, rolling his eyes, “There are enough bedrooms for everyone, unless we truly want to have a girly sleepover in the livingroom.”

Absolem’s face became disgusted the second he mentioned Duchess. Although more refined than most, Absolem couldn’t exactly say he was fond of her. She was loud and overly dramatic. He could do without. Cheshire at least had a somewhat calm and mellow air about him, “Ugh. Only because I do not wish to regrow my mushroom patch from scratch and it would be bothersome to let that plague run around as if it owns the place.” He sighs softly, running a hand through his hair, silently laughing at the cat, nodding his head in agreement, “As much as I feel extreme animosity towards most of our fellow Wonderland residents, I must agree with you on this. We do need as many as we can get.. and the Vorpal Blade.”

Rhia

Rhia was already giving into sleep by the time he reacted to her playful teasing. She slept peacefully through their discussion of the Jabberwocky, breathing slowly, steadily, far to peacefully for the situation at hand. She curled up even further against her claimed arm of the couch, aquamarine lovks falling to conceal her face as she shifted ever so slightly. She had been tired when she’d called him a scardy cat, whether she meant it or would even support her decision to playfully jab at the cat when she awoke was fickle. She was emotionally jumping to extremes constantly, even when she played it cool for him on the outside. Though she proved in the hall she was proficient at playing it cool and relaxing when it was called for. When it was dangerous. When she took the situation seriously, she wasn’t going to freak out and chicken out. Even if she was scared, losing, trapped. As long as she could move, she’d push on further, she’d continue to think, to plan, to attempt escape and understanding. Sure Absolem and Grey got to see her torn up, but that was because she thought Cheshire was dead. Cheshire saved her from the hall. He saved her from the Jabberwocky. She owed him a lot. She owed it to him to be brave.. and all of her worries she would be inadequate were somehow standing outside waiting for her, outside of her dreams. Unlike Grey, when she slept, she wasn’t one to have nightmares often.

--- Rhia Dream ---

- She was back in her world, but the faces, the details were blurred, she couldn't make out much of anything, the world around her was zooming past her in every direction, the streets were filled with people but no one she could recall. Where was she? There were flashing lights, large machines zooming by on a concrete road. There were tall buildings. Where was she? She looked around curiously, trying to figure it out. Where am I? Where is Cheshire, Absolem and Grey? She was curious, getting a bit anxious, but this place felt so familiar so she wasn't scared or panicing. Why does this feel so familiar? -

Cheshire

He kept his position, eyeing the odd pair. It did surprise him a bit, how indifferent Absolem was to his little outburst, considering when he first met the boy Caterpillar was like a walking barrier for the child. Maybe, he finally realized playing nice wasn't what it was cut out to be. He looked to the sleeping girl, a small smirk upon his lips again. It had taken some time, hell it had taken nearly his life, but he had managed to get on the girl's good side. And I never had to play nice. His pride was definitely soaring, after surviving the Beast and patching things up with Rhia. He felt good, especially now when he could very well rub it in Caterpillar's face how he had the better child. He snickered to himself, imagining how that childish shindig would go down and kept the thought to himself. Though amusing as it may be, now was not the time for showing off, even if he did hold better cards. For now, he needed everyone to work together and and figure out what to do.

He let Caterpillar rant and explain things to the boy as he found himself succumbing to the couch cushions once more. He could feel Absolem's mocking eyes on him, but was too tired to meet them. Even when Absolem poked at his current state, his eyes just slowly closed. The Chain was right. He was exhausted. He didn't realize how worn out and how sore he was, what with all the excitement of the reunion. His brushed his fingers gently across his bloodied bandages and sighed. Though hours had passed since his battle the wounds still felt fresh. He grimaced mentally and slowly curled himself into a ball. He hoped he would find himself feeling better after resting a bit. What good was an injured Chain to a dying world?

"I'm fine with the girlishly sleeping.." Cheshire managed to mumble. Now that he was laying down, he knew he wasn't getting up. He was far too tired and sore. Besides, he didn't want to leave the girl's side. He knew he was in a safe heaven for now, but the thought of Jabberwocky separating them again made him uncomfortable. Finally giving in to unconsciousness, he crashes, his last thought a prayer that the boy's dream was just a dream and not some horrible premonition. Losing what he had now was unacceptable.

Isaiah "Grey" Gris

Grey looked at Absolem and Cheshire, blinking calmly. They were both angry or upset with him but he was sure that it was just because they were stressed out.

"I know it's a possibility," he said, "That's why it was so scary. The reason I freaked out is because you were all dead and I obviously hadn't been able to help any of you. Being unable to help has always been my worst nightmare."

The last few words brought a frown to his face. Was that true? He didn't remember for sure but he was positive that this was true.

"You're probably right," sighed Grey as Absolem taunted him about his weight, "I guess I'm too puny to subdue you."

Absolem seemed to be acting a little colder than before but at least he had taken the bait and was making witty remarks again and he had said that he'd rest too so that was good, that had been the point all along.

"I don't think Rhia or Cheshire are going anywhere," said Grey when Absolem brought up bedrooms, "The couches are really comfortable so I'm quite happy to have a girly sleep over."

Rubbing his eyes he grabbed a cushion and curled up around it, staring at Absolem. He didn't have any intention of going to sleep untill he saw Absolem lie down and rest first.

Destra/Tweedle Dum

"Um...trouble," said Destra when Moonlight asked about the note, "Big trouble."

Perhaps the best thing to do would be to go see the Duchess and find out how much she knew, at the very least it would give Moonlight someone to meet and he was sure that the Duchess would love a visitor.

"Lets go for a walk, you can meet our...friend," he said with an uncertain glance towards Sinistra, "The Duchess, I bet she'd love to meet you."

Signalling to follow him he set off for the Duchess's house.

Sinistra/Tweedle Dee

Taking Moonlight's hand he began to follow his brother. Having to find out about the Jabberwocky in a note from the Duchess was disturbing, how had they not been able to sense that something that dangerous was once again free. The simple fact was, as usually both he and his brother had been too wrapped up in their quarrel to notice much of anything, it was amazing that he still noticed Moonlight was there.

"You'll have to remember to be very polite when around the Duchess," he said to Moonlight, "But I'm sure that won't be a problem for you. I warn you now, the Duchess is very..."

His voice cut off as the drew within sight of the Duchess's home. The were splinters and black goo everywhere, lying around the yard were the bodies of seceral pigs and momeraths.

"Oh no," he whispered fearfully as a new volley of black blobs were launched at the house, "It's here."

He could only hope that the Duchess had gotten away.

Duchess Sophie

She smiled at Belca as the girl signed the book before it vanished with a bell like sound.

"Thank you very much Belca," she said, "I promise you can rely on me."

The next moment she was running to the window as a group of pigs and momeraths rushed inside squealing. There could only be one reason for it. Danger. She sighed as the first volley struck. As was to be expected it was the jabberwocky...or it's minions anyway.

"I beg your pardon?" questioned the Duchess as a voice requested she let their man go, "Oh dear, with that voice it could only be Dormouse. What has that disgusting disease done to you?"

On the outside she appeared calm but inside she was falling apart. She knew what she had to do in order to escape but she didn't want to, the thought was just too sad to even properly think through. Gazing out the window pensively she felt a hand on her shoulder. It was the Cook, his eyes full of sorrow.

"I can't ask you to do that," she said, taking hold of his hand, "I don't want to do it."

The Cook said nothing, he just continued to stare at her with his sorrow filled gaze. She knew that he wasn't going to back down. Reluctantly she knelt on the ground and gathered all the pigs and momeraths around her in a tight circle where she closed her eyes and began to focus. A glow surrounded the group and when it faded she was surrounded by a group of boys and girls with green or pink hair, each was armed with a weapon of some sort.

"You all know what you have to do," she said, looking at the Cook, "I'm sorry that it has to be this way. Give it your all."

Silently nodding, the boys and girls rushed out the front door towards the infected army.

"Come with me Belca," she said, grabbing the girl's hand and dragging her son along, "We have to leave."

As she left she turned to look at the Cook one last time, he was setting the house on fire. It wouldn't do to let the Jabberwocky ransack the place. With a weak smile she hurried out the conservatory door, heading for one of the forest covered hills that surrounded her home. Soon she saw the red hair of the twins, they were standing on the hill with someone else. She didn't greet the twins as she walked up to them, instead turning to look at the scene before her silently with tears cascading from her eyes. Her home was burning, all the stories she had spent so long writing were going up in flames, the pigs and momeraths she had raised and nursed back to health were probably all going to die but at least they wouldn't get tainted like the Cook would, as soon as they were killed or her projection wore off then they would fade away, it was just the way things had always been. She watched them as they fought fiercely to give her enough time to run away. As the Cook ran into the fray shouting pepper she turned away with an audible cry and began to run, trying to put as much distance between herself and her burning home as possible.
