Friday was, more and more, becoming Olivia's favorite day of the week. Every other day was spent volunteering or learning something different about the small town they were staying only ten minutes away from. While most of the college students were permitted host families or different facilities due to their family incomes, Olivia and the Grant siblings had found themselves staying at a vacation spot Liv's mother had found for them. Their school ended up paying for the travel expenses and anything else that the trip called for in regards to educational purposes. Everything else? They were on their own, which was fine with Liv. The villa they resided at was probably bigger than that of the other students and honestly, she liked the privacy. She wasn't a big fan of huge, communal spaces in her living quarters. It was the one reason why she had moved off campus.

Liv had taken one of the ocean terrace bedrooms and was just about to leave to find the others. The scent of breakfast wafted through the air from her second floor bedroom and while Liv's stomach grumbled out of hunger, she wanted to check with her friends first. While Friday was typically the easiest day and consisted of something simple like finding some ruins or walking, she didn't know how Liza would feel for it. Liv and Blake were here for studying. Liza...as much as she loved the girl, Liv didn't know what Elizabeth was here for, exactly. So, after checking her reflection in the mirror of her marble bathroom and a quick application of her watermelon-flavored lip gloss, Liv gave one more light pat to her silky hair and jetted off, grabbing her backpack and Aviator sunglasses on the way. Her hair had managed to stay straightened, mostly because she trained it, and she was grateful.

Once in the hallway, Liv yelled, "I swear to God, you both better be ready!" First, and without thinking, Liv went straight for Blake's bedroom. It was easiest to mess with him and besides, she wanted to see his face anyway. She didn't even think to question it, considering she had hit ignore on her phone when Luke attempted to call her. Nope, she thought. Not even gonna go there right now. So, Liv skipped along to her best friend's room, tapped on the door once, and then ran in to hop on his bed. "LAAAAAAAAKE!!! Wake up!!"

"Alright, guys. We've got thirty minutes until we head to the buses and start our North Jungle hike in Sayulita," Christian projected his voice over the chitter chatter of the students staying in Higuera Blanca, or, at least them and the few who had managed to arrive earlier to enjoy breakfast with the rest of their classmates and new friends. He did notice that there would probably be stragglers, mainly that one group with the blonde who drove him up the wall, but he didn't allow himself to think too much on them. They had a two hour hike to occupy his thoughts. So, he concentrated on the group that spent their time chattering and eating the breakfast provided by the locals. "We'll be able to provide you all lunch once we finish the trail and get back to the beach, but make sure you have your bottles of water, towels, and whatever light snacks you'll need to get through. This isn't the hardest trail to get through, but be safe and keep hydrated, and actually listen to what we tell you." He had to cast a particular set of girls a look. The last time they had done something like this, that same group ended up all wearing heels and one girl broke the straps because she didn't think he meant it when he said a trail was rocky.

Rolling his eyes at the memory, Chris sat back down at the table of group leaders and professors, only somewhat paying attention to their conversation as he dug into his own breakfast. After attending school in America, Christian had returned to help out in his hometown until he figured out what it was he really wanted to do. So, he volunteered to help with the college group, especially considering one of the instructors thought he'd know how to "deal" with this age group. Plus, and he wasn't going to deny it, Christian knew the trails of the jungles, even the ones they weren't supposed to go on. He just hoped nobody decided to get lost today.

Liza fiddled with her braid in the mirror. She was attempting to recreate the messy milk maid braid that her stylist, Lida, did for her about a month ago. She usually wasn't into the messy look but since her hair kept getting messed up everyday she figured it might as well look like it was done on purpose. As she applied a final coat of waterproof mascara and slicked on her peach colored long wear lipstick, she faintly heard one of the very few female friends she kept around yell about them being ready.

"Jesus Livvy I'm almost ready. That asshole can wait." She sniped back. Even though she couldn't help licking her lips at the mention of the tasty little guide that they had. She meant what she said, he was an asshole, but he was a really hot asshole. She stood up from her vanity and stood in front of her full length mirror. Her romper was absolutely adorable but just short enough to make it sexy. She opted to not a bra but she stuck her bikini top in her bag.

Fridays were the best because she didn't have to do all that god awful volunteering. All she had to do was go on some walk or explore some historic stuff that nobody actually cared about. Once she was thoroughly happy with her outfit she flung her door open and yelled down the hall towards her brothers room "Ok I'm ready let's fucking go!"

She grabbed one of her daily smoothies, ignored the delicious smelling food, and headed to the entry of the villa. "I will leave you guys. You know I will"

As usual Lake woke up earlier than both of the girls that morning to go for a run. He actually loved every aspect of the study abroad program. He loved the sights and adventure and everything in between. Not to mention he got to spend it with Liv and his sister. Well more Liv than his sister who insisted on being her bratty loveably self.

After he returned he took a scalding hot shower, just the way he likes it, and got ready. The sun hadn't even risen yet. Lake was always the early riser of the trio. When he and Liza were kids it was because she would wake up at 5 am and demand pop tarts every single day. So he started waking up at 4:45 and eating pop tarts with her than they'd both go back to sleep. His body just got tuned to it. So much so that if he woke later he felt groggy the whole day. Once Lake got out thee shower and took care of his daily routine, he got dressed and went back to sleep.

He awoke to Liv's screaming and then her plopping down on his bed. He grumbled a bit but he couldn't fight the grin back.
"Really Liv? He asked while trying to make a straight face. He failed of course and let out his deep laugh instead. "I'm already dressed. I was waiting for you two to get ready He added while throwing the covers off to reveal his outfit. He leaned over to pull on his sneakers before pulling Liv out of bed.

As usual his sister was screaming like a banshee about leaving them. He simply rolled his eyes and pulled Liv in closer she he rested his arm across her shoulders as he led them to wear the adorable blonde she devil stood in the entry. He let go of Liv only to open the door for them and to give Liza a kiss on her temple as she walked by.

Liv only grinned at the sound Blake had made, giggling when he attempted to act like he was upset with her. He wasn't and they both knew it, so all she did was cheese at him when he laughed. More than she wanted to admit, she loved that laugh. The sound was deeper and richer than Luke's and Blake could never hide when he laughed; it almost seemed to shake his entire frame. Shaking off the thoughts, she rolled her eyes good-naturedly and smirked at seeing Blake practically ready. And here she thought herself actually on time today! "Yeah, whatever, smart ass," she grumbled with a small pout only to grin again when Blake was officially ready, shoes on, and pulling her with him out the door.

Like always, it was easy for Olivia to fit right under Blake's arm and she had no complaints there. It helped that he was tall enough - or was that she was short enough? - to make it comfortable. She couldn't even remember a day that it had ever felt uncomfortable for her. Sighing, she walked with him while checking her backpack, making sure that she had the frozen water bottles she had gotten one of the staff members to put in, wrapped in towels, a few beach towels, and a few snacks to get them through the day. Just light things like seasonal fruits, granola bars, chips, and candy. When they finally made it to the entry, as her earlier yell had signified, Liza was at the entry and Liv offered her a smirk. "Don't worry, Liza," she teased. "We'll see your new boy toy soon enough." Liv tossed Lake an appreciate smile when he opened the door for them and Liv was the first one to get to the truck they were renting for the summer.

Without fail, she hopped into the driver's seat. Trucks were her thing and they made her feel taller. Waiting until the other two were in, she started the vehicle up just as her phone started buzzing. Liv pulled it out of her pocket, frowned and then pressed ignore. Another unwanted call from Luke. "Let's just get this over and we can find something else to do tonight," she said and then drove off in tow of the building they had to meet the other students at.

About ten minutes after finishing up his breakfast, Christian was out in the streets playing a small game of soccer with a few of the local teenagers and some of the male college students, chuckling quietly at one of the girls who jumped into the game. Somehow, she thought the platform shoes she was wearing would be fitting for the walk and the game. "¿Estás listo para esto, Ricardo?" He asked one of his childhood friends. The other male grinned in response and the game re-started. It wasn't that far off to see Christian smiling. Despite what some people might say, he was friendly and respectful. He could be just a bit distant at times. It wasn't like felt like explaining himself anyway.

A few minutes later, Liv pulled the truck into a parking spot not too far from the building and hopping out, she noted the small crowd. "Looks like we're not the only ones running a bit behind," she commented to the siblings and nodded to a few other students who were just getting out of their cars. Christian looked up from the game to see the incoming group and, after excusing himself from the game, strode over. Olivia tossed him a raised brow while glancing back at Elizabeth. "And here I thought you guys were going to be late," Chris stated, his accent thick with the feigned concern, including the other small group Liv recognized as a few classmates from their school. She wiggled her fingers at one of the Sociology girls. "Yeah, sorry about that. Can't get rid of us that easy." Christian gave the shortest of the trio a small glare and Liv only smirked before asking smartly, "¿Cómo estás hoy, señor Santiago?" Instead of answering her inquiry, his eyes landed on Liza briefly, not even meaning to take in the blonde's beauty. As much as her brattiness irritated him, Christian couldn't even deny that Elizabeth was a really pretty young woman. Even if she acted like a child. "Let's just hope your friend's shoes will last on the trail," he finally said, speaking more to Olivia than to the woman his eyes lingered on far too long for his own liking.

Finally, Christian's gaze landed on Blake and as he turned away from them, he said, "If I were you, I'd get a hot meal and get the others to brief you on what I said earlier. We're leaving in ten."

Liza rolled her eyes at Liv's comment. There was no way she liked that cocky bastard. He was attractive but that's it. As they approached the group Liza noticed that of the three of them she was the only one who wasn't greeted by a group of people. Liv had her sociology girls, Lake had some adrenaline junkies and hunky jocks, but Liza... Well Liza had a few guys who licked their lips and got a little rowdy when she walked by but that was about it. She suddenly wished she had her long hair so she could flip it and act like she didn't care.

Of course without fail, Christian greeted them with a stupid comment about them being late. While he traded banter with Liv his eyes wandered to Liza. She stared back unabashed, even smirked a little. At least she did until he made a stupid comment about her shoes, "They should" She said in a overly sweet voice with her lips pouted, then she looked back up at him with a straight face"Since they're flats", she rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. "I'm sure there are some... what do you call us? Touristas? That you can bother?"

As he gave Lake advice she rolled her eyes. "Isn't your job to make sure we don't get lost. It seems really bad in taste to abandon a group that your almost sure will get lost or won't make it. I thought you took your job more serious than that Christian." She ended her leer with smirk, "Pity."

Lake groaned as his sister went on one of her little fits. "Liza stop it. He's just trying to give us some advice. He said in his commanding voice. Lake hardly ever put his sister in her place but when he did she typically got emotional or she would be quite but have an attitude. She looked at him with wide green eyes but he didn't back down.

Lake turned to Christian and shrugged, "Sorry man she gets like that sometimes." He raised his blonde eyebrows, "But shee has a point. Liv is the smallest of the group and Liza has a tendency to not follow instruction. I mean I can usually handle them but they're a bit of a handful together. It wouldn't hurt if you stayed with us. He heard Liza make an angry sound in the back of her throat but he chose to ignore it.
"Are you serious right now?" Liza hissed. Lake whirled around and gave her a look "Dead serious Liza. Liv please tell her we need him with us He said turning to Liv. He hoped that she would be the neutral voice of reason since she was best friends with both of them. Liza whirled around to face Christian at the same time and sent him a pissed look

As it seemed to her habit at this point, Elizabeth apparently didn't seem to know when to quit. Her first round of talking was only in response to what Christian said about her shoes and his presence in general. It made him, while they couldn't see his face, smirk a bit. The fact that she thought she sounded all smart and nonchalant by attempting a Spanish word was...well, it was kinda cute, but as he figured in his head, she didn't know how to give up. Which was why he turned around swiftly upon her bringing his job in it.

Christian's eyes were narrowed and if it wasn't for the fact that Blake had spoken up, he surely would have sneered back that he was surprised she knew what a job was. Probably wouldn't have been the wisest of ideas considering her friend Olivia wasn't one to take anyone that wasn't Blake snapping at her, and he highly doubted if the male would have appreciated him calling his sister out like that. So, with a clenched jaw, Christian listened to what Blake had to said. And he was right. While Olivia seemed quite fit and energetic, the trail would last them a little over an hour and surely, her smaller legs would get tired easier. Plus, his last experience with Liza on a trail had Christian deadpanning and despite how much he wanted to pretend that he didn't care, he didn't want to thrust them on another counselor. That wasn't fair.

Olivia, when Blake was finished speaking, started hitting one of his arms while saying upon each strike, "I. Am. Not. A. Handful." Afterwards, she pouted and grumbled, arms folded over her chest, "Jerk." She did, however, a beat later, give Liza a look. "Come on, Liza. Let's just get this over with and we can go shopping or something afterwards." She didn't really mean the behavior and the display of her tiny self hitting someone who was over one foot taller than her was enough to make the corner of Christian's mouth twitch in amusement. Also, the fact that she had to appease her blonde friend by promising a shopping excursion nearly made him shake his head, but Christian refrained. Keeping a straight face, however, he said, "Fine. You four," he also glanced at the group of four they had greeted upon arriving, "and the rest of you are with me. Try to keep up." He gave Elizabeth a pointed look. "We'll be the first ones on the bus since we'll be in the back of the line. I'll go check with the other leaders. The bus should be arriving soon." Christian nodded one more time to Blake and then walked away. Olivia watched his retreating form for only a second before rolling her eyes. "Sounds like fun."

Liza allowed Liv to pacify her as she watched Christian walk away. She whirled around to look at her brother, "What the hell Lake?" She hissed as she pushed him as hard as she could. "I'm not a child anymore. I don't need you to defend me!" She huffed away and stormed off in the direction of the Bus. She sniffed hard to avoid a tear.

Lake sighed as his sister stormed off. "Twenty bucks says she cries" He said sadly. He glanced at Liv and then in the direction she went. "I love her but I didn't ask her to come."

Most people wouldn't expect Liza to be emotional but she easily gets upset. She had always been a little bit of a cry baby, whether she wanted to admit it or not. She hated when Lake chastised her, especially when it was in public. She rubbed under her eye and took a deep breath to calm herself down. There was really no reason for her to get emotional anyway. She chose to come on the trip, she left her cushy sorority house, she gave up her fun to be here. And for what? So her brother could treat her like a petulant child? She wanted some fun, some real fun. Not hiking and Mexican markets. She wanted to party.

She spotted a group of boys in their new group. She had seen them around because like Lake, Liv, and herself, they chose to stay at a luxury temporary home. They always seemed to either be hosting or going to some party and she had seen the leader of the group eyeing her on more than one occasions. She approached them with her coy sultry grin. color=#662049]"Hey boys I hear you know where all the fun is. "[/color] She said directing the question to the leader. He grinned at her "Yeah you looking for a party?" He said holding out a mini tequila bottle.

As the trio was alone and Liza turned on Blake, Liv only took a step back with her hands up, not - in any way - about that life after only waking up about two hours ago. She could snap at a lot of people, but she usually left Elizabeth to her brother and when Liza was actually upset about something, it was always best to stay out of their argument. While she seemed to stomp off, Olivia's gaze rose to Blake's to see the small frown tugging at the corners of her mouth and sighed, not at all impressed by his trying to play of Liza's hurt. So, with a small sympathetic smile, Liv stepped in front of Blake and wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her chin on his chest so she could look up at him. "Hey, no bets on your sister's tears," she chastised lightly before grinning at his face, ignoring any looks anyone else was giving them. "She came because cuz she loves you and you love her too, and give it a little time like we always do, and you'll both forget all about this argument. Just like every other one." It wasn't really an argument considering the fact that, well, Elizabeth rarely walked away from him snapping at her happy, but Liv said what she said and honestly hoped she was right. Liza could be...difficult at times.

Before she could become too comfortable in the position they were in, her phone vibrated in her pocket and she had to let Blake go to check it again. However, once seeing that all too familiar number, she pressed ignore quickly and decided on a better piece of action: she simply cut her phone and prayed Lake hadn't been able to see what she did.

Christian didn't lie when he said that the bus would be arriving soon. As soon as he was standing in front of the building and going over the list of names with one of the professors, the vehicle was literally rounding the corner and coming towards them. He was about to tell his group to return and tell his group to be ready when a professor from Cal-Tech grabbed a hold of his arm, pointing to a few familiar group of rowdy students. At first, Chris didn't even understand what he was supposed to be looking at - he didn't feel like dealing with those guys again - until the glass in one kid's hand gleamed beneath the harsh rays of the sun. And then his eyes narrowed and he was stalking over to the group, not even taking in Elizabeth's presence at first.

"¿Qué demonios te pasa? He growled and snatched up the bottle, his voice coming out as more of a hiss than yelling since he didn't want to bring too much attention to them. He directed his glare at the leader more than anyone. "Dude, I already told you that I could give two giant fucks about you drinking. Just. Not. Here."[I] It wasn't a real rule Christian himself had proposed considering his own age and tendency to drink when having fun, but it was something the program - their teachers - asked for. No drinking or alcoholic beverages on sight. They weren't even allowed to do the wine tastings while on the clock. Any students caught were supposed to be brought back to one of the professors from their school and Christian had already warned them of what could happen with that. Finally, he noticed Liza and raised an eyebrow at her. [I]"What? So, mom and dad back there put you in time out and you thought getting into more trouble was the best move? Seriously, what the hell is your problem?"

Liza's math dropped open producing the perfect pout as Christian confronted her. "You do not know me." She stated crossing her arms over her chest. Nobody besides Lake had ever actually called Liza out on her shit. She rolled her eyes as she took a step closer to him, "You think you're so much better than me. Why? Because my mommy and daddy have money? I'm from a world where I've had people do stuff for me my whole life so yeah these hikes, all of..." she motioned to the general area, "this. It's hard for me ok? I don't need you telling me I'm some spoiled little tourist too. It may not look like it but I'm trying ok?"

She turned away in a huff and walked towards the bus but not before looking over her shoulder at him one last time. Once she got on the bus she chose a seat towards the front. Who cared if she was being bratty the truth was, she was trying. Liza was a true pampered princess so roughing it up was not in her nature. The most grungy thing she did was glamping in a decked out RV. She pulled out her phone and went through her Instagram timeline. All of her friends were continuing with their fun lives obliviously while she was stuck in Mexico. Her bother was mad at her, her best friend was too busy with her brother to focus on her and the only hot guy around thought she was a spoiled brat.

As she saw Christian board the bus she patted the seat next to her, "Buddy system right?" She said with a grin.

Lake shook his head at Liv but he couldn't help the flitting in his chest just by a simple gesture like a hug. He knew that Liv was right too. Liza had came on this trip for him so she must be hurt from his chastisement. At the same time Liza had to understand that at some point Lake won't be able to clean up her messes. She would make no progress if he continued to let her continue down the same destructive path. He nodded at her, "I know your right it's just.... Well her attitude isn't fixing anything. I understood why she treats our parents the way she does but now she's taken this attitude to the whole world. The only people she ever lets in is you and me. At some point this queen bee act is going to get old. Then what? " He squeezed her a bit tighter before he caught himself and loosened his hold.

Lake almost frowned when Liv took a step back to take the call. He was surprised though when she didn't answer it, rather she ignored the call. That wasn't like Liv so he felt the need to make sure she was ok. The last thing Liv needed was someone bothering her, "Everything ok?" He asked with concern. He noticed a couple times that Live keeps getting these calls that she doesn't answer. He didn't say anything at first because it wasn't his business but now ..... Well lately he's been feeling more and more possessive of his best friend than he wanted to. He knew that ever pursuing it might ruin their friendship but he couldn't help think of how great they would be.

Lake noticed other people boarding the bus and grabbed Liv's hand gently, "We should go if we want a good seat." When they boarded the bus he directed them to the middle of the bus. "Cool with sitting here?" He asked. Truth was he wanted a minuet with Liv by himself. Since they got there it was always him, Liv, and Liza so he figured this was the best opportunity.

Olivia, despite knowing that Blake was right there and that he would in fact see her deliberately ignoring a call, visibly flinched when he asked her if everything was ok. No, it wasn't ok. Her boyfriend was expecting an answer and she didn't know what to give him, especially considering her initial answer had been on the negative. Liv still couldn't even give herself a reason as to why she didn't want to marry Luke. He wasn't a bad guy. He was great and he made her feel safe, and they had fun together, yes. She stayed over at his place every other weekend, they cooked together, and she already met his family...and yet, her immediate answer had been no and it still didn't make any sense to her. "Uh, yeah. I'm good." She lied, and immediately felt bad for it. Then again, it was better than sputtering over an excuse. She had never been particularly good at lying to Blake, not when he was staring at her with those eyes. Hell, she half thought that he should be a prosecutor with those eyes. No one could get away with shit.

Liv didn't respond to Lake about the bus, opting to simply take his hand and allowing him to lead. She wanted to talk to him about Luke, honest and truly. Of all people, she should be able to feel comfortable talking with her best friend about something like this, right? So, why was she so damn hesitant. She didn't allow herself to fall too deeply into her thoughts. That was where the bulk of her issues involving ignoring Luke resided, in a place where it was "obvious" that Luke wasn't the only man in her life and it was about time for her to start recognizing it. No. Nope, not going to go there. Take a step back. Breathe. Besides, Luke was her boyfriend. Blake was her best friend. She had never blurred those lines...right? A bit more lost in her thoughts, Liv honestly could only nod wordlessly and the second they sat, words tumbled from her mouth, uncontrolled and fast. "Okay, Luke proposed two weeks ago and I said no." There was a brief pause before Liv quickly followed up with, "A-at least, I said no, at first. Then I said I needed time and he doesn't think I need time, and I don't know if I do either, but we fought. It was really, really bad."

Christian was honestly a bit amused that Elizabeth's immediate reaction at getting scolded was pouting. It was a bit comical and had him mimicking her later when she spoke, folding his own arms over his chest. At the same time, and he wasn't privy to admitting this outright, it was...well, it was adorable. He didn't know if he was just losing his cool because this girl was a lot to handle in two minutes or if it really was the sun playing games, but he was a bit taken aback by how her eyes seemed darker suddenly, like glittering pools of evergreen. It was enough of a distraction for him not to manage a retort to her little claim of trying, not that he would have had much time. Liza had stomped away in whatever direction she was going, he wasn't paying attention, and the bus had arrived. One of the counselors called him over and once Christian shook his head, thoughts of her for the moment were gone. At least, that was what he managed to tell himself.

Luckily for him, the other students he was in charge with had already gone to the back of the bus like he had asked and when he first boarded, his eyes had immediately went back there. He noticed Olivia and Blake somewhere near the middle, but it was obvious that this bus was filling up and it was fine for now. He was surprised, however, to see Liza closer to the front. He didn't know whether to roll his eyes or ignore her and keep moving. There was a line behind him, so he opted for the first, rolling his eyes in annoyance before sitting beside her, grimacing. The ride was forcing him to be closer to this girl than he had allowed himself the entire time she'd been in Mexico and he wasn't sure what it was that was making his stomach uneasy. The close proximity or his aggravation with her. "Sure, why not?" He replied sarcastically, forcing a smile on his face. This was good. Throw a few digs. Establish a distance. This could work. "Might as well sit next to the class clown since you've got jokes. Now, enlighten me, you said I don't know you. Fine, you're right. Let's get to know each other. If all of this isn't for you, then why are you even here?"
