Personality:
There isn't much to Leon, It's easy for people to figure him out, at least that's what he thinks. Leon thinks that he's open enough with people and that it 's easy for them to know how he's feeling, but really it's really difficult to figure out what's going on in his mind. He tends to unknowingly keep his distance from everyone, as a sort of defense mechanism he's not even aware he's doing. He just likes to keep to himself, it's been a while since he'd actually gone out in search of people to 'hang' with. He sort of has this positive view on the world, he thinks there still are some good people in the world, which of course he's tried numerous times to stop believing because it effected his artwork. Apparently being a deprived soul is what people like in their artists. But he isn't one of the best artists in his institution for no reason. Leon is rather creative, making art out of the most random of things, his creativity extends to how to cheer up people and how to stretch his cash. Leon is actually really naive, he's likely to believe anything that's said to him, and accept it as fact, that's why he was never good with gossip or jokes. He isn't one to anger quickly, so when he does, it's quite a shock to anyone who knows his calm stature well enough. Even though it's hard to accept people at first, if he does accept someone, he's extremely protective of them, and he tends to open up more fully and easily to them.
History
When Leon was young, he had a very normal childhood. Both parents and an only child, rather decent with his schoolwork and never causing trouble in school. His parents had gotten a divorce when he had just entered middle school, both claiming that it had nothing to do with Leon and that they both still loved him. His free spirited mother took off to explore what the world had to offer, now having settled down again to start another family Leonardo had never met. His father, being much more of the serious business associate type accountant, took responsibility for his son. But even Leo could see that his father missed his mother. Leon's dad threw himself into his work, practically avoiding his son who reminded so much of the wife that left him. Because of this, Leon felt as though he was going up alone, and was in fact alone all day every day it seemed. He had no friends and was to timid to confront his father, so he just let himself melt into the background of his life. It was in this time that he began to paint and sculpt and work his craft.
But it wasn't just practice art and now he's suddenly in this amazing college, no matter how much he ever tried to forget what happened in between these two points in time, a rather big part of his life did take place. Leon was just alone in his life, he worked on art and art only. That is until one of the school druggies offered him a job in his 'business'. Leon recognized it might have been a horribly bad idea, but he was indifferent on the drug subject and figured it would be fine as long as he didn't actually use it. So he sold for the Druggie, Ryan. It was good pay and he could finally buy supplies for his art without his father breathing down his neck about how he should give up this hobby and focus on school. But being around drug addicts all the time didn't exactly make him feel good about himself. Leon fell into depression, feeling as though he was always being used for something on top of the fact his father called his passion a joke and he still had no friends. He was convinced he was immortal back then, not for the reason most kids his age did, but each time he attempted suicide he somehow magically lived each time. He remembers each attempt clearly: first, cutting his wrists, for some reason he thought that might kill him but his wounds healed easily and cleanly. Secondly, he recalled, was hanging himself by noose, but the rope broke, leaving only a pink mark around his neck as a type of rope burn. Then, he did get more creative, molding clay around his head as to stop breathing. But he just lost consciousnesses, fell to the ground, and broke the mold around his head, allowing him to breath again. His last attempt broke the one rule he kept with himself, 'No Drugs.' Leon attempted to overdose, taking a variety of drugs from painkillers to the drugs Ryan had given him. His father had walked in on his son slowly falling unconscious. He'd been rushed to the hospital, the doctor saying that he was close to death. Leon's father sought immediate attention for him. Leon had an appointment practically making him go crazy. The therapists and counselors were no help to him whatsoever, he came to his own self-realization. It made him sound insane and conceded, but he came to the conclusion that the reason he lived through so many suicides was purely for the fact that some greater divine power needed him to live for something bigger than himself.
So imagine his shock and awe when he found out he was chosen to be a mentor. He'd been accepted into an institute for art, moving away from his father. Every so often he receives a letter or card from his father and even more rare is one from his mother.
