Description

Face Claim: Shioon Lee from The Breaker

Name: Sakumoto Ryusuke

Age: 17

Alignment: Good

Character Type: Magus: Air Magecraft

Brief History: The only child of the Sakumoto's, a family distantly related to the Nanaya’s, with one major distinction. They lack the Pure Eyes, since their ancestor, one of the Nanaya’s, breeded with an outsider, resulting in the loss of the trait and also subsequent ejection from the family. Although they were kicked out, they still maintained the heavy physical regime the Nanaya’s had, having their children undergo heavy physical training at a young age.

Ryusuke also underwent this training. But before he was of sufficient age to learn of what the family trained him to do, they received word of the annihilation of the Nanaya family by demon half-breeds. Not wishing the same fate on their own family, they immediately halted Ryusuke's training and swore to never tell him of what his early training had been about, sending him off to a regular school with other kids.

But Ryusuke never forgot how he felt while he underwent harsh physical training, pushing his body to his uttermost limits, the feeling of power rushing through his veins, the euphoric feeling of being able to do almost anything that his body could do. Even in school, he distanced himself off willingly, only pursuing physical ability, learning physical arts and pushing his body further.

He has always been curious about why his family had such harsh training, and all the symbols of the occult they still have lying around, since they never told him of the history behind their family.

Dark Secret: While teaching his younger, adoptive what little he knows of demon hunting, an accident caused him to lose his memory. While Sin still regained some of it, he never fully recovered. The guilt from this ways heavy on Ryusuke.

Skills:
Sixth's sense || Having been raised to fight like an animal when necessary, Ryusuke has developed a sort of sixth sense. While he can't see or directly interact with them, Ryusuke can feel when otherworldly entities are nearby.
Demon Hunter Training(incomplete) || Being raised in a family of Demon Hunters, Ryusuke has developed skills necessary to track down and kill demons. However, his skills are limited to that of a novice. Adds +2 to strength and +1 to agility when activated. Adds +1 additional strength when fighting a demon or hybrid. -2 evasion and agility when fighting a human or magus.
Aero Bullet || While the majority of his early life was spent learning how to hunt demons, Ryusuke was still taught the basics of magecraft and directed in which one of the elements suited his abilities best. He can form a small bullet-like mass in the air then repel it towards the target. This ability costs 15 mana, and also takes a -1 toll to Ryusuke's sanity with each use. The bullet adds 25 damage to Ryusuke's magic.
Second Wind || Due to his extended diaphragm, whenever Ryusuke lands a successful melee attack, he is able to follow up with another within the same turn.

Having ended his student duties, Ryusuke left the broom leaning against a chalkboard.

"Later, Kazehaya. Good luck with clean up." He stated nonchalantly as he walked out the classroom door.

"Oi! Sakum-" The irritated outburst of Ryusuke's classmate was cut off short by the slamming of the door.

Finally reaching the clubroom, Ryusuke found that the majority of the club's inhabitants had already shown up.

'Good. I'm late. So I don't have to wait around while these fools make an attempt to talk to me.'
Ryusuke thought, breathing a sigh of relief, due to his convenient tardiness.

Ryusuke was not the brightest student in the school. No, that would be quite, quite far from the truth, and he knew it as well. He was sure his parents probably would’ve liked it had he paid more attention in class and tried harder, but no matter how hard he tried, he knew his studies would never be his strong point. Rather than his intellectual abilities, he took pride in his physical ones-which might make someone wonder why he was in the Occult club, rather than one of the sports clubs.

But he had his reasons.

Unfortunately, while he did hear most of what the president had been talking about from his position atop one of the desks in the room just now, he still wasn't quite sure what relevance it had to what they were doing.

Phantoms, spirits who rise from the grave? While such a thing sounded quite cool, and would be indeed interesting if they really existed (he’d certainly love to meet one) in all likelihood, they were just made up tales, things people made up for some reason or another.

The seven sins incarnating and fighting for one wish? That sounded a lot like a light novel plot.

Well, it didn’t seem like that part was too important for what they were doing this afternoon. Instead, it seemed like they were going to use the circle to try and call something out.

“So, Pres. What you’re saying is, we’re going to use that circle and try to summon one of those... Phantoms, which you were talking about?” He asked, trying to clarify.

"Hey, Kai-chou. You named off nine sins but said there are only seven embodiments. What's up with that?"

"Troph-kun, I'm glad you noticed that. You see, to be honest, I found that weird myself when reviewing the text; however, upon inspection I found that it's no mistake. Nine sins, but only seven warriors. I looked quite a bit for a further explanation to this, but I couldn't find anything. So... I came up with my own theories. The most concrete being that only seven warriors can be chosen from a pool of nine. After all, it makes sense because in order for a single spirit to fully manifest, it would take a lot of energy. Then you're talking about giving them physical form and making them strong enough to cause wide-scale damage on top of that. Now I'm no expert on the subject, but going off the scarcity of phantom tales and the number of deaths which accompany those events, I'd say we're talking about a quantity of energy which would take some decades to accumulate, and even that seems to be pushing it. At the very least, this theory coincides with how there are nine deadly sins, but only seven are really recognized."

The club president has clearly switched back into full investigation mode. The fact that she has conducted so much research into something she normally wouldn't give the time of day shows that she has just about convinced herself. But what is truly terrifying is just how close to the truth she has come.

"But then I came up with another theory: the 'Extra Player' Theory," Haruka's voice lowers as she brings one hand to her chin, "You see, after looking at the information again, I realized that this folio doesn't describe the warriors as being chosen, but resurrected. So, in a way, what starts off as nine phantoms of sin becomes two plus seven warriors. So, through the use of this ritual, we'd end up with seven beings which can interact with the physical would and two which can interact with the spiritual world... Kind of like unborn persons or wandering ghosts. Of course, this theory is still sketchy, but I do believe there is some significance in the wording and the ratio of sins to warriors."

By this time, the club president has fully immersed herself in the text resting in her hand. It was as if she was trying to break down the text in real time, unaware that she was already in the middle of something.

"Either that... or we have the 'Sacrifice' Theory, in which the life energy of the living isn't enough. With this third theory, I believe that in order to make up for the lack of energy, the unchosen two are used in order to make up for the difference. This one is still fairly new, but certain things in this writing hint towards the possibility. Such as never mentioning the participation of nine in the ritual, but always listing all nine sins..."

The inquisitive young woman finally lifts her eye from the text and scans the room with a smile. Realizing that she's gone on somewhat of a tangent, she sticks out her tongue jokingly and gives off a light shrug. With that, she closes her great grandfather's folio and tucks it neatly under her arm.

"Anyways, what we'll be doing tonight is just a little exercise of our city's urban legend. Since we've yet to look at anything local in this club, I thought it would be kind of fun to try out before Golden Week. Even more so because there is so much information out there on it," with a look of confidence on her face, Haruka takes the mysterious book from under her arm and waves it through the air, "If it's bunk, we can proudly say we squashed one of Fuyuki's great mysteries. And if it's real... well... I guess we'll talk to a ghost."

"And no, Varren-kun. No blood sacrifice is needed whatsoever." Haruka replied, brimming with confidence that would almost be reassuring, had she actually known what she was getting into.

"As far as summoning spirits goes, I surely hope it works. It'd be pretty interesting, wouldn't it?" A mischievous grin crept upon Haruka's face as she finished these words.

'Extra Player Theory?!' The mere mention of these words stirred Troph from any half-awoken state he might have been in at the time. However, as Haruka delved more into the context of the Theory, Troph's train of thought quickly succumbed to confusion.

Content with Haruka's answer, albeit a little confused because of her complicated theories, Troph nodded. Having no further questions, he was ready to begin the ritual once everyone else was situated.

Until...

"WAIT! If you fall from this height, who knows how much fall damage you'll sustain!" Troph called out, reaching for Ayame and Yuzuki who were both already out the window.

Upon realizing he was too late to stop them, Troph leaned against the window sil in defeat.

"Uwah~ Mama gets so serious when it comes to her cooking." Troph commented in a state of false bliss, enjoying the view of their 'game of tag'.(Huehuehuehuehue~)

All in all Troph was ready to get this show on the road. Retreating from the window sill, he stepped onto the chalk circle, while grabbing an extra cookie or two along the way.

"Ready when you are, kaichou."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ryusuke was skeptical with Haruka's explanation. There was simply no fact or reason to it. While those two words rarely applied to the supernatural, Ryusuke refused to pile his hopes on wishful thinking.

'Hope it works? You're not serious, are you?'

Despite his thoughts on the situation, Ryusuke reluctantly made his way over to the chalk circle and awaited whatever was to come of this so-called ritual.

As he waited for the others, his mind slipped over to his brother.

'That's kinda weird. Sin is usually already here by now. Don't tell me he forgot where the clubroom is again...' Ryusuke thought, a tinge of worry affixed upon his naturally scowling face.

'Whatever... It's not like he's a kid anymore. He can take care of his own problems.'

Dismissing his earlier doubts and worries, Ryusuke crossed his arms, becoming more impatient with each second he had to wait.

Watching silently as everyone finds a spot on the circle, Haruka can't help but smile in excitement. It was true that she might not have thought the whole thing out, but she figured she didn't have to. After all, the text was a mystery to her. If she'd known all the answers to it already, she wouldn't be able to enjoy it with her friends. And while the mystery delved into something she didn't particularly care for, the extensive notes left by her mentor were an oddity. For as far back as she could remember, Haruka was always told to only investigate the mysteries of reality as they'd provide far more entertainment than those of fiction. So for her great grandfather to have chronicled so much on something generally accepted as fiction before his death... it was as if she was holding the old man's life work in the palm of her hands. To share something like that with her extended family, however nonsensical it seemed, it was the ultimate mystery for her.

"Alright," Haruka snaps back to reality as she reopens the book, "Let's get started!"

Just as Haruka gets ready to read off the chant for the ritual, she notices that one spot on the circle has yet to be filled. Turning a full 180 degrees, she sees none other than Justin still standing by the chalkboard. Naturally, she wanted to yell at him playfully as she always does, but she soon finds that she can't. It was just for an instant, but there was a fierce, almost scary, intensity in her friend's eyes as he gazed at the circle. It was as if his eyes had become a never-melting ice holding back and intense blaze, if only for a second.

"Just-"

"Geez."

Before the president can even mutter the boy's name, he seemingly returns to normal and steps towards the circle, grabbing the chalk off of the teacher's podium as he does. He walks past the boundary and steps into the circle alongside Haruka, kneeling down upon stopping. The action causes Haruka to step back, as she opted to wear a skirt, but it allows for her to notice what Justin was doing.

"If you're going to draw something with chalk, at least try not to mess it up when you walk all over it." The young man speaks with a sigh as he redraws a portion of the area Haruka was just standing on. His voice still portrays a certain reluctantness to go about the ordeal, but his swift reconstruction of the ruined area seems to argue the opposite. In just a matter of seconds, he's done and he stands back up to assume his position on the circle. "Honestly, you were about to get us blown to bits or something." With his trademark sarcasm, Justin takes yet another shot at his dear friend with a smile on his face.

Feeling somewhat reassured, Haruka mindfully gets back into position and opens the book to the page tabbed 'chant'. The storm brewing outside grows in intensity and roars, but Haruka becomes calm as breathes deeply and begins to read.

Blood and iron to the flames. Mind and body cast into Hell.
The heart falls upon thy sword and forsaken life is woven into thy vessel.
The inferno is birthed from collective sin spilling out and thrown to the four directions.
Death and rebirth. Constructed five times over, the defiled body paves the way to unholy ruin.
Even still, a hollowed being is a simple price to pay.
Therefore, I announce---
You whoms fate shall be chained to my own as mine chained to yours,
in accordance with price to claim the Holy Grail, if your avarice extends beyond emotion, reason, pain, and torment, then answer!
I am the one who will become all the good of the world of the dead.
You are the one who will become all the evil of the world of the living.
So, great keeper of balance clad in chaos, step through this magic ring and release me from these chains which bind reality!
Allow me the chance to grasp that which is seeped in blood and sorrow!

As the last word is spoken, silence once again fills the room. Sheets of rain continue to buffet the classroom windows and the wind continues to wail in the darkness. Everything remains unchanged and the elaborate ritual dies off into the night.

"..."

"...Haruka!"

The nightly doldrum is broken by none other than Justin as he instantly dives towards his friend. At the same moment, the young woman instinctively turns to look behind herself and is shocked at what she finds. There, as if impersonating her own shadow, a black figure looms over her person. It possesses no features, nor any kind of presence, but the human-shaped body resonates despair, paralyzing Haruka instantly.

Image

Finally noticing the figure in the darkness, you move to react but find that your body doesn't respond. Unparalleled pain soon races through your body as the circle you stand on fills the room with a crimson hue. Soon after, your body as well as everyone else's begins to deconstruct. Everything is happening in an instant, but what you're now experiencing seems to go on for an eternity. As your body vanishes into the air, you feel as though every cell in your body is being carefully burned and the compounding pain assails your brain. And just before your mind succumbs to the immense torture, you witness as the black shadow's arm scythes through the air and cuts Justin in two. The young man is silenced before he even knew what happened and his best friend is forced to watch it as she slowly fades away.

"Thank you... Master..."

The mouthless creature speaks with an inhuman gurgle which rings clear in your ears. As the scene before you returns to real time, your mind slips into blissful darkness.

''If you just watch, you learn a lot. It takes time so best get comfortable.''
Sentinel || Noisestorm

Lying on the ground of the poorly lit room, where the overhead light swung side to side with a slow creak of rusting metal. The drips of water from a old tap, the water orange from rust going down a none existent drain and onto the tiled floor stained red. Cold yet the air is heavy. Must be near the boiler room. The stench of congealed bloody hand prints on the walls and the rest smears as if someone slipped on the bloody floor beneath them with a heavy injury to their abdomen. This was not a good room to be in it seemed, the stench of blood, bile, piss and death lingered here. Yet unconscious bodies laid in the very room, not yet aware...

Nixyn flinched at the passing chilling wind, eyebrows frowning as the stench with the wind of decay, blood, piss and bile passed his nose. The dripping water frightening him in his slow rousing from unconsciousness and the sticky red substance on the floor making him cringe. When his eyes opened, they were bright, pale green blue but they were awfully confused. Looking around and squinting as the swinging light glared into his eyes. Once his eyes slowly adjusted to the light he gasped at the sight of blood. Instantly sitting up to find himself covered in blood that was not his own as he touched himself to find himself unharmed.

But then he looked around further and found he was not alone. Three others were there also, unconscious just as he was. He was reluctant to converse with them but... He couldn't not. They were, just like him covered in blood. So he slowly checked them all out, since he had medical experience. Such an ironic thing that he was from what he could tell from the worn sign above the only exit of the room saying 'Morgue' that they were indeed in a hospital. And in the basement they must be, along with the boiler room. How this place still had electricity was a wonder to him since it was so run down... But... It still looked like it was being used... And not out of the goodness of someone's heart.

So he checked the others to make sure they were not injured as well as wake them up. He was strangely calm for this situation but as a nurse blood, bile and human waste was expected to be dealt with once or twice at one point in the job. But he wasn't completely without nerves but he would not allow them to best him. His willpower and sensical mind was strong. He then get up, his face of disgust as he looked at his joggers, loose tank top and trainers. Ruined by blood... But this did not matter. What matter was what was going on and how did they all get here. He didn't recognise these people either. He went to the sink and turned the tap. Surprisingly after waiting for a minute or so the water ran clear. He took a sip of the water then washed the blood from his arms, chest, neck, hands, face and red hair. At least he could be somewhat clean... Even if they clothes were not. Perhaps he and the others could find some replacements in exploring.

He turned to the others he had checked over for injuries and gently woken up and began to talk. ''Before you ask, I do not know where we are... exactly but we seem to be in an old hospital judging from the sign above the exit of this room... I took the liberty to check you for injuries...'' He looked at the floor and cleared his throat. ''I am a nurse, so I have some medical knowledge to help you all if you do get injured... But this means the blood around you... Is not yours.'' He put his hands up that was clean. ''But please, calm yourselves. We must work together and get out. Together. This sink works so if you are thirsty, drink up... I don't know where water will be next. Wash your skin where the blood is too... You don't know if whoever's blood this is had infections or diseases and I am sure you would like to be more... comfortable. Wash your hair if you need too... We can look for clothes when we start exploring the Hospital. So I hope you can bare with me.'' He scratched the back of his neck for a moment before continuing. ''And my name is Nixyn. Call me Nix for short if you like... If you... have any ideas or questions I can answer then please speak up... I just want to help.''

As the senseless chatter between the president and vice-president carried on, Ryusuke was just about ready to leave, his patience reaching it's climax.

Noticing his younger brother, Sin wander in right as the ritual was about to begin, Ryusuke quickly changed his mind. He honestly wouldn't even be here if it weren't for Sin. Ryusuke had to keep him in check and make sure he stayed safe, as was his duty as an older brother.

"Sin... Did you seriously get lo-"

Ryusuke opened his mouth to scold his brother for being tardier than him, but his voice was cut short as the president finished her incantation.

A sudden rush of intense pressure enveloped the room and froze Ryusuke in place. As if being controlled by some outside force, his eyes made their way to the center of the room where a terrifying creature seemed to tower over Haruka. Being only feet away, Ryusuke's first instinct was to punch it. But for some odd reason, he lacked the capability to even breathe. Was he afraid? Had he been utterly paralyzed by fear? No... Something of this caliber wouldn't shake Ryusuke's will that easily.

Before Ryusuke was even able to construct another thought, the sudden chain of events fell through too quickly for any one man to comprehend. Justin's death, the soul-rending pain, the black out that seemed as if it would never come. Ryusuke simply couldn't fathom it all.

---------------------------------------------------------------

“Uaahhh… The hell happened here…?”

Waking up second in the hospital room, Ryusuke was definitely not amused. He could still recall what had happened back inside the classroom. That shadowy son of bitch that had appeared after the ritual and how he’d killed Justin. If he ever got his hands on whatever that thing was, things would definitely not end pretty.

From what Ryusuke could gather, that thing was probably responsible for throwing them in here and knocking them out earlier. Whatever it was, it had succeeded in making him go from calm to angry to really-damn-pissed-off in only a couple seconds. And to him, that was really quite an achievement.

His anger would have to hold, though. From what he could tell in the dimly lit room, it was nowhere in sight. Instead, a couple of the club members were there, although they were clearly missing quite a bit of them.

Standing up, he began to make his way towards the two other standing figures he could make out in the darkness.

'Tanaka and... Gensou?'
While taking note of the two with him, Ryusuke's mind wandered elsewhere.

'Where the hell is Sin at? Don't tell me he's alone... Or maybe he's already...'

The mere thought enraged Ryusuke to a point where he considered tearing apart the entire room, without any thought to how it could effect the others. Right now, every sensory organ in his body was on fire. Blinded by his rage, Ryusuke's senses actually appeared to be somewhat heightened. Or was it something more...

-----

[Ability Activated: Sixth Sense] Having been raised to fight like an animal when necessary, Ryusuke has developed a sort of sixth sense. While he can't see or directly interact with them, Ryusuke can feel when otherworldly entities are nearby.

-----

'What is this presence?...'

As this single thought entered Ryusuke's mind, a voice suddenly spoke up.

''Before you ask, I do not know where we are... exactly but we seem to be in an old hospital judging from the sign above the exit of this room... I took the liberty to check you for injuries...''

Ryusuke turned towards the new voice. He couldn't instantly tell that whoever it was, he was not familiar with them in the slightest. A complete stranger and potential threat, if anything.

Ryusuke simply stared at the man as a frightened animal would, while being cornered by an assailant. He didn't trust this man. He didn't like this man. He wanted to rip this man apart. Above all else, Ryusuke feared this man.

While it was dim, Ryusuke felt a sinister force emitting from Nixyn. He couldn't tell if it was the man himself or some mark that was placed on him. All he could tell that it was bad.

As Nixyn began to go on and Ryusuke became a little puzzled, while still maintaining his glare.

'What does this monster take me for? Who does he think he is talking as if hes a human being? I know what you really are...'

As Nixyn finished giving out his name, Ryusuke wasted no time in giving his response.

"If you even take one step closer to me, I'll tear you limb from limb you fucking demon."

Nixyn looked at one of the people he helped shake awake but gently, getting a cold shiver down his back and paling as he was called a demon. Though he was not one and he was very aware of that... But he knew he was not pure either. He just looked at Ryusuke for a moment, looking at him up and down to really take his appearance in then folded his arms and frowned. Tilting his head and tapping his foot at the guy. ''By all means, make friends but insulting people. I am sure you will be a good catch.'' He was being sarcastic, clearly. He stood up straight, moving his red hair from his face some in thought before continuing as he looked at the young man. ''If I was a demon, why would I be here? It doesn't look like I have comrades here that will help me whisk away after devouring your souls.'' He got a bit amused and started wiggling his fingers at Ryusuke, grinning and laughing a bit. ''So you may become my expendable men in arms WoooOOOoooOOo~'' He went dead pan in the face and the niceties were gone, at least for now with Ryusuke. ''Cut the bullshit. You'll live with my 'demonic' presence just a little while until we can get out. Then you can sanctify me and curse my name all you want when we are free. As for now we are stuck together and clearly I am not going to attack you. So lets just agree to disagree mm?''

He looked at one of the others in the room to find one was a Hybrid, blond with cat like hues. He would not lie, it was a bit... off putting but only because of his history and past. But he certainly wasn't going to single anyone out even though himself already was in Ryusuke's eyes. He also looked at the young girl, blonde as well and blue eyed. His eyes were somewhat unnatural with their paleness but otherwise blue green in tone. He smiled at both of them, bowing his head in greetings the next before tilting his head at them. ''So, am I the big bad wolf to you too mm?'' He chuckled a bit in amusement but his face went serious. He had to know that at least someone could work with him. If not, he would still help - of course - But it would be simply... harder to do so.

Kirio stared at the wall.. for.. around 30 minutes now, and the reason was because- well hell he wasnt sure what to think. To put it simply, he currently felt like a cat that was going through some mental trauma and all he was capable of doing is blanking out rather idiotically. It was only a couple minutes later that his body became responsive and it was after his hybrid senses slipped out of its dormant state (from hiding his species for a while) and began to feel the dark powers around him. This brought a tingle down his spine, and surely the grin that was creeping on his face was from ear to ear. 'We are not all human.' His cat like eyes slid to each people in the room, and his orbs gleamed with curious intent. 'I can finally be a little more open.' Kirio felt the magic rush through his body, 'Or maybe a bit more.' He stiffled a cackle.

"Well what I miss!" He chirped, looking around lost. "Oh yeah, we got sent here.." He sniffed the air, smelling awful chemicals and cleaning materials, definitely a hospital. 'Well now what.' He thought, feeling a bit bored, and that was.. well boring and bad, possible destructive. Looking towards the other people in the room, his eyes sought out two in particular- the ones with the bad vibe. He lived for interesting chaos. He blinks, and suddenly he was seen giggling, holding his stomach from the pain of joy. 'So, am I the big bad wolf to you too mm?'' He looked up at the man, his eyes filled with tears, "Hahaha~! Of course not! Maybe big, but not bad. Just funny." He paused, before giggling even more, "Interesting too" He had to pay this man back for making him feel laughter, been awhile since Kirio.. was restricted from other activities. 'But maybe not anymore?'
"oh yeah.. um." Where were his human manners, "My name is Kirio Gensou, or well Kiri for short if you didnt know! What's your name Wolf-San?" He glanced at the others, wondering if they'll spill any information as well. Kiri hated being in a situation he was unknown about, even if it was really fun.

''If you just watch, you learn a lot. It takes time so best get comfortable.''
Sentinel || Noisestorm

Nixyn turned to the one he was questioning about him being the 'big bad wolf' and smiled pearly whites at the young man before holding the back of his neck, looking to the side, easily embarrassed by flattery it seemed but only by men he found attractive. But of course, he would not openly say that, it would be bad timing at the moment in a room surrounded in blood, bodily fluids and bleach... All the things he hated smelling, perhaps someone from down stairs was having a chuckle at his predicament. He huffed air from his nose at the thought and cleared his throat before looking back up at the man's seemingly golden feline hues with his pale bright blue ones.

Smiling away at the young man before walking up to him, standing up tall and broad but clearly relaxed, even in his presence and in the room, completely... perhaps unnaturally calm to the situation at hand. Standing before Kirio, he respectfully bowed his head before speaking, his Latvian accent clear but English vocabulary remarkable. ''I do try to lighten the mood. Thank you.'' He couldn't stop smiling at the moment, a bit caught up in the moment actually as he put his hand out to Kirio, laughing a bit as being called a wolf and for that he 'woofed' at the man with a playful smirk before going on to introduce himself. ''Nice to meet you Kirio, my name is Nixyn Issac Yale. You can call me Nix for short if you prefer it.'' And there he was, smiling again, he swore his cheekbones were starting to ache at this point.
