Even at an early age Klaus' desire was for personal glory rather then pride for his country as with the majority of his friends. His main assignment in these movements was as a spy, during this career Klaus was responsible for the deaths of 84 members of these three groups. This endeavor was particularly successful in the earlier ears, resulting in the execution of 40 members of the HJ (most of them were under the age of 17), included in this obscene number of children were all the friends which Klaus had made while in the previous youth group. Klaus maintained this high level of success in every organization that he had been placed in by his superiors, he also quickly arose in the ranks of the SS before his identity was completely erased by the high command, it was at this time that Klaus went to work for the KGB. All information concerning the actions, military associations and personal information of Klaus Raimund remain classified.

Even though a flight from Madrid to Pretoria, South Africa took less then 11 hours it would be nearly a week before Klaus Raimund arrived in the lovely Spanish town of Galicia. Looking at this spectacular community one could see why an individual such as Abigail McHugh would have chosen to settle in the area. Galicia is known for being completely unlike any other town in Spain.

Similar to Cornwall and Ireland, the coastline comprises beautiful sandy beaches, flanked by high cliffs and sheltered harbors.

The simplest part for Klaus in tracking down Abigail was the altering of the accent which he would use in confronting her, thinking that a Russian accent might cause some suspicion in Abigail's mind Klaus switched to a British mode of speech.

Klaus had already mapped out his conversation tactics in talking to the professor, much of which would rely upon deception and exaggeration, he would claim to know information which he couldn't have possibly received from his seconds long conversation with Walter back in South Africa.

Through some questionable means Klaus had learned of Abigail's plight, that her life was totally depended upon a simple piece of fabric, a material which is susceptible to many forms of possible destruction and deterioration. He would present her with the perfect opportunity to put things right in terms of her ability to sustain her life and to bring her back to some form of normality.

He had offered Abigial a chance to relieve herself of her burden; Klaus was confidant that Abigial would accept, who wouldn't jump at such an offer. Klaus had set up a meeting in a local outdoor cafe in a fashionable corner of Galicia, there he would lay out his proposition. Sitting down in his reserved seat Klaus would wait for Abigial's responce, ideally in the form of her making an appearance at the small cafe

Abegail had gotten the offer to meet with a man who seemed to have some knowledge of her "predictament"

Immediately she was on edge and concerned. No one other than Walter, Gunter and herself had been there when she was shot. No one else knew that she carried the blood flag with her at all time and without it she would be dead. Abegail had paced for days, not sleeping, barely eating and trying to get a call to Walter. The call was futile. The man was never in the office, no one could or would help her locate him.

A day before the meeting was prearranged, Abegail had taken a step she had never thought she'd do. The small handgun now sat on the table as Abegail fidgeted. She didn't want to go, she had come here to get away from all of that. Yet...

She shoved the gun in her small bag and headed out to the door, market basket on her arm.

"I will walk by....look." Abegail talked herself into leaving the house. Her footsteps carried her toward the market and towards the cafe. Her mouth was dry and her hand slipped into her bag, clasping the gun for a moment. The cold steel was a comfort.

Abegail stood in a bit of shadow and peered inside the cafe. Sparsely populated the man stuck out. She bit her lip and attempted to decide if she should go in or not. She would have to move, that was a given. Too many phone calls, too many people finding her.

Anger began to burn. She liked it here and now she needed a new place to get away from the dark things in the world. Resolved she walked into the cafe.

"Excuse me. I believe you might be waiting for me. I will not be joining you and I would thank you to not follow or approach me again. I do not know what you think you know but there is nothing you can do for me."

Abegail turned on her heel, auburn hair whipping around and she began to walk out.

Klaus sat in the cafe patiently waiting for Abigail to make her appearance, as proof that she was sufficiently intrigued and accepting of his offer, only to be confronted by an aggressive and impatient auburn haired woman who had turned on her heels and walked away from his table. It was quite obvious that she had no intention of accepting his gracious offer, at the same time Klaus could tell that Abigail was perhaps less weary of him due to his general posture and clean-cut demeanor, this was one of the things that set Klaus Raimund apart from the average Nazi agent, he had a disarming aire about him.

It also helped that Klaus wore an expensive and yet simple suit and that he exhibited non of the brutish traits that Abigail had so detested in the personalities of an Niclas Elberich, or Gottberg Von Adelwolf type. This was exemplified by Klaus' reaction to Abigail's quick paced approach to his table-A pleasant smile broke out upon his face as he made the respectful gesture of arising from his chair. These were perhaps insignificant actions, but they had achieved the desired effect of alleviating some of the tension which had build up within Abigail's mind.

These were completely calculated gestures of course, and Klaus Raimund was renowned for this kind of disarming charm.

Klaus arose from his chair as he held out the dossier which had been set out on the table before him. "I'm sorry Madame, I will bother you no more. But please, take this folder. In it you will find my credentials, background materials and personal information."

Klaus stood in a fixed position with his right arm extended, the dossier clasped between his thumb and forefinger.

Along with his personal documents the folder contained something spectacular-Blueprints for an ambitious Nazi project. Particular portions of these blueprints were vague, but it did contain sufficiently intriguing details to interest Abigail McHugh, if she should accept the folder and read it.

It mentioned life support and enhancement technology which could be very useful to the professor.

Abegail stopped. He was apologetic, promising not to bother her but had something for her. She was annoyed but the researcher in her was curious. She turned slowly to face him.

Taking the dossier she looked around her at the few other patrons. She remained standing as she opened it scanning the papers.

Abegail flipped past some, clearly his credentials and personal information. Those things did not matter now, she couldn't double check them in this moment. There were other papers and blueprints. Abegail looked up at the man, an eyebrow raised skeptically.

"Why would you think I would have any use for this information?" Her tone and speech perfectly level. Inside her mind was racing at what she had glimpsed. "Life support...." Abegail did her best to remain very calm.

She closed the dossier and held it to her chest. Looking him over as she waited for an answer. He was handsome enough, if a bit severe. It was hard to tell his country of origin from his features although there was some germanic blood in his family tree based on a few facial features. He spoke in a very British fashion, the accent hard to decipher.

Klaus, who had introduced himself as Franklin Belmont of Yorkshire England had mustered all his deceptive capabilities in order to portray pure disappointment and confusion within his face.

"Don't you understand? This could be the answer you seek, its the possibility of a cure to your burdens. If we can retrieve this technology....The possibilities are limitless! Now I realize that science is not your field, but imagine what the discovery and acquisition of this technology could mean to the world. Frankly, Dr McHugh, I am not the adventuring type, I have no experience in such endeavors, but you! You have worked with the best-With Professor Jones and Dr Miller. I have no doubt of your own abilities......."

Klaus had interrupted himself, and with a look of hopefulness now displayed upon his face he awaited Abigael's reaction to his latest deception.

Abegail's eyes flashed, her teeth clenched and she tried to remain calm but her Irish temper was very close to breaking as she stepped close to the man.

"What do ye know of my burden? What is it ye think ye can cure?"

Abegail searched his face for how he could possibly know what had happened to her in Austria. No one knew save Gunter and Walter. There was no way for anyone else to know. Both Nazi's were dead. Abegail felt the colour drain from her face. "They are dead...they have to be...."

Her hands trembled slightly at the thought of either man still being alive and walking the earth. She had shot Niclas herself. Fingers gripped the dossier tighter. Abegail for the first time in a long time was afraid.

Abegail had learned a long time ago not to feel guilty when others tried to tug at her heart strings. Not being a romantic or overly compassionate Abegail was more fixated on that the man seemed to think he knew and she wanted to get to the bottom of this enigma.

She took a large calming breath, "I am sorry but I do not think I know what you are referring to exactly. Please, let us get a coffee and you can explain why you sought me out and what it is you think you might know. Also, I would very much like to know how you found me."

Her anger had ebbed some, her tone back to professional and level, her accent once again gone behind her cool demeanour. Abegail gestured to the table. She was mildly uncomfortable with her back to the door but she shifted the chair slightly to be able to keep it in her peripheral vision.

Abegail waited impatiently as Franklin summoned the waitress. Abegail scowled as the woman took her time to move to the table but her scowled turned to an expression of shock at Franklin's statement.

Abegail shook her head. He couldn't possibly be right. There was no way that Walter told anyone about what happened, about her needing to keep the flag on her person, about how she had died but yet lived. He'd never risk her life like that. If someone tried to take the pieces of the flag from her it would mean her death and it's power was enough for anyone to attack her.

That fact was why Abegail had gone through such lengths to have it split up and stashed in various forms on her person at all times. Many pieces meant it couldn't simply be taken away.

Part of her was relieved...clearly Niclas or Adalwolf were dead. They were not walking around, spilling her secrets or hunting her and Walter down. The other part was struggling to believe that Walter would have told her secret. He wouldn't knowingly put her in danger, of that she was sure. But if someone got him talking.....

"So you say Dr Miller told you. Where did you meet him? How long ago was this?"

Abegail rested her elbows on the table and stared at the man across from her.

The waitress approached and Abegail ordered a coffee and waited for the man to both order and answer her question.

Franklin was beginning to sense the futility of his endeavor to convince Abigail of his feigned sincerity; she was a stubborn individual and Klaus was developing a great hatred for this redheaded female.

"Inferior Gaelic swine." Were Raimund's thoughts as he arose from his seat.

Once more adopting the amiable personality of a cultured Englishmen.

"Well professor McHugh, I see my charm has failed me this day. It was my assumption that you would jump at the chance to improve your situation. Well, you have my papers and personal information, feel free to check them with the British embassy. You know where to get a hold of me."

Klaus pushed his chair back under the table and turned to walk away, stopping after a few steps he pivoted around to Abigail once more.

"According to my sources the technology described within those documents have been stowed aboard a C-54 which makes nightly flights over the East German boarder. Directions, flight plan and your ticket are in the folder. Should you want to join my quest......"

With a small sigh Klaus stopped mid-sentence and then turned from Abigail and walked away.

Abegail fumed as the man refused to answer her question, instead almost dissmissing her and standing. He walked away and Abegail turned, watching him leave.

"What game is he playing at?" She was trying to calculate exactly what was in it for him to help her and if this was actually help he was offering.

Her head cocked to one side, auburn hair falling slightly over her shoulder. He seemed to know an awful lot about everything surrounding this treatment. Abegail could not wrap her head around why he wanted to help her, what benefit it would have to him and why not just hire someone to take what he wanted? If he had it he could sell her treatment for any price, should she want it. Something about the whole situation sat wrong in her stomach.

Abegail shook her head at the back of the curious man as he left the cafe. Her coffee arrived and Abegail sipped it while she thought on this unusual meeting. Her fingers drummed the papers on the table.

Her cup was empty and Abegail stood, she had a clear plan in her head. First she needed to contact Walter, second she needed to leave here and third, she needed to make some calls to find out about this Franklin.

Abegail left the cafe, bag and papers in hand. Heading to her villa quickly she kept an eye out over her shoulder. "I thought I was done being concerned about what lurked in the shadows...." she muttered to herself.

The door was locked behind her, gun extracted from its hiding place in her bag and papers were brought to her desk as she sat. Abegail picked up the receiver and began dialing Walter's number. "Ye better pick up...."

She flipped through her mail as she listened to the ring in her ear of the phone trying to connect.

----

She walked through the streets, approaching the front door of the residence she was looking for. Charlotte fixed her hair and pressed the ringer on the door next the little label that said Miller.

The 11-15 hour period Walter had promised Abigail as the time frame for his arrival in Spain had come and gone, with no sign of professor Miller. It was now a few hours past 12 as Abigail sat in her home awaiting information as to when Walter was suppose to make his appearance. When suddenly her living room phone began to ring. On the other end was a familiar voice, that of one Klaus Raimund aka Franklin Belmont. The man who had been reported to have left Spain by plane and to be on his way to Germany was clearly still around. Klaus had a surprise for Abigail, should she be brave enough to converse with him.

The phone clicked and Abegail hung up her receiver. She began to pace the floor. She sat on her couch and it was here that she fell asleep. Eight hours later, stiff and chilled Abegail awoke. It was only a matter of time now before she would hear of Walter's arrival. Perhaps he'd call her for a ride from the airport. She smiled, feeling better then she had yesterday.

Bathing quickly, donning fresh clothes Abegail set about breakfast. Four hours later, the food and coffee sat cold and Abegail was worried again.

Her phone rang to life and Abegail jumped up to answer it.

"Hello?"

She eagerly awaited the sound of Walter's voice. Her stomach dropped when she heard Franklin's voice.

"May I ask why you are calling?"

----
Charlotte propped Walter's head in her lap.

"Dr Miller, oh Dr Miller please wake up."

She did her best to sound concerned. Her fingers lightly tapped his cheek.

"Dr Miller, someone broke in...they knocked you out...please wake up."

She had rubbed her face, making it appear that she had been crying. Her make up lightly smeared, her cheeks red, her nylons had a run and she held her free hand to her head.

"They...I think it was just one person but I don't know...they pushed me down. I hit my head. They hit you with something. I do not know what they took." Charlotte sniffled as if about to cry again.

"Dr Miller please wake up..."

Her act hid her real intentions well. On the outside she was a pretty but frightened woman, inside a conniving and devious woman who needed Walter's help. She was not above using any tactic to get it.

She tapped his cheek lightly again. "Soft man...." she thought. Charlotte barely contianed her sneer. "Wake up already...."

Abigail was now speaking to Klaus on the telephone, though the chameleon maintained his identity as that of Franklin Belmont, the charming and polite British antiquarian.

"Professor McHugh, I have received some rather disturbing news concerning your colleague and friend professor Walter Miller. One thing I had not yet divulge to you is the interest that certain other parties have in the mechanism which I seek, and which I had ask your assistance in retrieving. It seems that these same individuals have abducted Walter, several hours ago I received a communique and a photo image of the professor and his captors. They insist that you help me in locating the device and return it to them in exchange for your friend."

Franklin stopped his rather rushed revelation to listen for a reply from Abigail, receiving no response from Abigail hinted to the success of his lie.

"I promise you Professor McHugh, help me. We will retrieve the machine and bring it to them as ransom. And I am still certain that you may be healed by its use. This is a chance for you and Walter."

In an attempt to make his con complete Klaus had the actual photo and communication sent to Abigail.

"Within the next hour or two you will receive that same communique and photo image. We must save professor Miller."

There was nothing to do now but wait for Abigail's reply to his seemingly selfless offer of charity.

Walter grumbled to consciousness, finding himself with his head resting on the soft, pale thigh of this stunningly attractive blond stranger. His first thought was not focused on the ringing pain in his head, but upon the possibility that such a blow and the pain issuing from it might be a small price to pay for waking up in such a position.

Walter's hair, which was of considerable length for that particular era was partially covering his features, clearing the strands from his face Walter acknowledged Charlotte's concerns.

"Oh I am fine." Trying to maintain his manhood.

".....I think, and you? Are you Okay!'

Abegail sat. She had no words, nothing to say for what Franklin had told her.

"Walter....abducted. But...." Abegail remained silent as the voice continued.

"Can I trust him? I have to help Walter." She shook her head as he assured her she could be helped by the device. She didn't care, she could live out the rest of her life with the Blood Flag, it was Walter she worried about more.

Abegail licked her lips, realizing just how dry her mouth was. "Mr. Franklin, I do not understand why they are contacting you. Yes you want the device but why abduct Walter and send the ransom to you? What connection you have to Walter other than talking to him about me I am failing to comprehend but I will help you. Not for you, not for me. Once I receive the photo and communication I will meet you at the cafe and we will discuss the next part of the plan. Understand something. I have no reason to trust you and if I think this is a fraud I will be going to the authorities."

Abegail clenched her hand. She began to form a list of things to pack in her head.
---
Charlotte smiled sweetly down at Walter. She brushed his hair from his face. "Dr. Miller I am fine. They did not hurt me so much. A small bump to the head." She lightly brushed his cheek.

"Shall we get you up and set about finding what was taken?" Her eyes were wide, still red as if she had been crying.

Internally Charlotte was urging him up, to get moving, to stop slowing down her plan.

She brushed another piece of Walter's hair from his face. Her head tilted and she smiled again at him.

Klaus had worked it all out prior to asking the switchboard operator to connect him to Abigail's residence in Galicia, Spain. Immediately after Abigail picked up the receiver Klaus, who had once again adopted his fake British accent, dove right into his prepared speech about the abduction of Walter Miller.

He could tell by her voice that Abigial was still hesitant about joining him on the expedition into occupied Germany. Abigail questioned him as to the reason why the abductors would contact him to negotiate Walter's release.

"It is actually very simple professor, someone must have informed them that you weren't too keen on my proposal. The simple fact is that they want the device for themselves."

Klaus thought he might fair better if he played on Abigail's vanity, knowing that she had much pride in securing such a lofty position and reputation in her field.

"I guess they are under the impression that I would fair better in my locating and securing of the device if I had someone of your caliber and position to assist me."

After receiving Abigail's acceptance to meet back at the same cafe where they had met the other day, he hung up the phone.

"Right." Walter spoke in a ached voice as he tried to get to his feet.

Walter stumbled to the couch and sat down.

"So.....Hey I never asked you why you wanted to see me." Walter leaned back.

Abegail frowned at the phone as Franklin hung up.

She immediately began pacing. She waited for the papers to arrive from Franklin, the whole time considering what to do about Walter.

Two hours later, when the messenger knocked on the door Abegail took the envelope, added it to the dossier and headed out to the cafe.

She arrived, took a seat at a table in the corner with her chair facing the door and opened the dossier. Abegail flipped through the papers once more and then took the newly arrived envelope. She opened it and immediately began looking it all over for signs of tampering.

The waitress came over and Abegail absentmindedly ordered a strong cup of coffee.

Fifteen minutes later a cup was placed on the table and Abegail's eyes were still on the papers and pictures.

"Should I go? I canna just let Walter be stuck...what if it is a trap? Walter would go after ye if he thought ye were in trouble..."

Abegail reached into her bag and touched the gun for reassurance. She'd hear Franklin out and she would go with him. She looked up at the door and waited for him to arrive.
---
Charlotte stood once Walter extracted himself from her lap. She brushed her skirt off and walked over to where Walter sat.

"Well wouldn't you like to get this whole robbery and assault taken care of first? If not then I would be happy to tell you why I came looking for the great Dr Rivers. I am working on some research that I could use your expertise on. That is if the subject matter interests you. I don't suppose you have heard of dragon's teeth?"

Charlotte looked coyly at Walter, her lashes batting a little in hopes of drawing him in. She reached out and touched his hand.

"Of course this can wait Dr Rivers until you are feeling better and this is all taken care of." She reached up and touched her head gently. "I should get some ice I think." She made her tone a little sad and pained. Charlotte intended to get his sympathy and to keep his attention.

Abigail didn't have to wait long before Franklin arrived at the secluded and trendy cafe, Franklin came over to the table where Abigail had sat, pulling out a chair for himself. Even before he had taken a seat he started to fill his brunch date in on what was going on with Walter.

"I know that you are having a hard time trusting me, I don't blame you considering all you've been through in the last few years, during your many adventures. In fact, as I already stated, that is precisely the reason why I sought you out."

Finally Franklin sat in his chair, placing the folder he was carrying on the table. "Here is the simply truth." Opening the folder to reveal a stack of papers, much like the ones contained in the dossier Abigail had in her possession.

"We are in grave danger, there is a chance that we will be seeing another world wide war in our lifetime."

Turning over several pages he continued.

"One day from this very hour, the machine mentioned in that dossier, will be crated and boarded onto a plane headed for for East Germany. I'm sure you know about the Russian cutting off all supplies going into the occupied section of Germany? Well, our boys....along with some American chaps have been flying missions in and out of the occupied zone. The item which we seek is being hidden about one of these flights. In short, we must prevent the Russians from getting their hands on what could possible the most destructive force ever conceived in war, a veritable army of Metal warriors. Forces which will sweep across the lands of our failure country and eventually the world."

Klaus lowered his head as if he was truly upset, this of course was mere pretense.

Exhaling. "We need to get that device for our side...at least that was the plan. Now that professor Miller has vanished we need the machine for him. His life depends on us securing it, we must not fail Walter."

Klaus hoped that last sentence would clinch the deal, hoping it had sufficiently pulled on Abigail's heartstrings.

Walter's eyes and mind went wide. "Dragon's Teeth!!"

Forgetting everything but those two words.

"To hell with a few stolen trinkets, tell me everything." She definitely had Walters attention.

Abegail's shoulders slumped a little. The last war had not been over that long, the prospect of another was disheartening. her eyes flashed and her head snapped up as Franklin mentioned Walter and that his life was hanging in the balance.

"Know that I do not trust you. Too much has happened for me to trust anyone fully, especially when they tell me that they know things about my life that they should not know."

She sat back in her chair. "I will go with you. First sign that something isn't as you say and I will be in contact with the authorities." She took a drink of her coffee.

"I will go home and pack. I will meet you at the airport in twenty five minutes."

Downing the last of her coffee, Abegail stood, the dossier under her arm and left the cafe.

Once home she packed a small suitcase, a new briefcase and some notebooks and other books. Sliding the dossier inside her briefcase, Abegail sighed. "Walter, what kind of trouble are we in now?" She talked to the walls. One last check ensured she had her numerous pieces of the Blood Flag, that which was keeping her alive and then she headed out the door.

A cab took her to the airport where she arrived twenty minutes after she had left the cafe. Her hat, coat and gloves on, Abegail stood with her ticket in hand and calmly waited for Franklin to appear. The gun rested in her briefcase as well. Not her typical accessory, Abegail felt it prudent to bring it.
---

Charlotte's eyes twinkled and she moved closer to Walter.

"You know of them? Oh, I am silly, of course the great Dr Rivers knows of dragon's teeth."

She reached out and touched his hand, giving him a coy smile. "What if I said I was trying to find them? What if I told you that I had pinpointed a location and with your help we could find and retrieve them? What if I said that we could stop others from hunting them down first?"

Charlotte batted her eyes, "Would you be interested Dr Rivers? In working with me? In finding them?"

It was 45 minutes later when Klaus Raimund, in his British disguise, showed up at the airport to meet Abigail, who had already standing near the boarding line. Franklin stepped up beside Abigail.

"I have arrived Professor McHugh, all is ready on the other end. There is an air force base just out side of the occupied zone, it is from there that the flights in and out of Berlin originate. I have already acquired the proper permissions from my contact at the British embassy which will allow us to board one of the planes. He has informed me that we must find our own way of taking the device off of that plane, and we only have one hour to accomplish it."

Walter was ecstatic, he couldn't believe what he was hearing. The legend of Dragon Teeth a=had been a life long interest of his, perhaps it was all those years reading high fantasy or his childhood interest in the folklore of dragons.

"I'd be willing to go anywhere, what do you have in mind. Do you know where to start looking?" Walter said to the blond with a strong sense of joy in his voice.

Abegail grew impatient waiting for Franklin. By the time he arrived she was ready to leave. The line for boarding was moving and she contemplated stepping out of it numerous times.

She was silent as he assured her everything was ready on the other end of things. She nodded, "Whatever it takes." She stood with him, following mechanically as she lost herself in thought.

"One hour to get the device off the plane, one hour to get it before it is too late." Abegail glanced up at Klaus wondering just how much she could trust him to help her accomplish this and save her friend. She was comforted by the thought of the gun. Her first goal was to go over all the paper work again that Franklin had given her. She needed to pinpoint exactly what the device looked like and how feesible it was going to be for them to move it. Not only that but what it might be stored in or hidden in.
---
Charlotte smiled. Walter was completely focused on her now, having forgotten Professor McHugh. It was better than she had hoped as she saw his excitement grow.

"Anywhere? Well, Dr Rivers that is wonderful to hear. You won't mind working with me?" Her eyes glanced away from him shyly.

"I happen to be doing research for my doctoral thesis on myths of Greece. You see the dragon's teeth are particularily interesting." Most of her words were a fabrication. Charlotte had been doing research yes, but not for a thesis and not on Greece itself. Her focus had been on obtaining the teeth for her employer. They intended to use the warriors that the teeth were famed to produce to start the war up again.

"I seem to have traced them to a location in Easter Bulgaria. Apparently they were moved there. A monestary had them for a while it was rumoured and now they seem to be under guard. Not entirely sure by who and that is why I need you. To help me locate and extract them for further study."

She placed her hand on Walter's knee, slid a bit closer. "Are you interested?" She looked at him from under heavy eyelids, hoping to appeal to both his sense of adventure and his possible interest in her as a woman.

A few minutes later Franklin and Abigail had boarded the DC-4, formerly a cargo transport during the war, now decommissioned and in use as a commercial flyer. There wasn't much luxury aboard the plane, but it suited their needs and possessed the necessities of successful flight and landing-Wings, wheels and the like.

The 2 hour 20 minutes of flight from Spain to Germany gave the unlikely couple ample time to discus their plan further. Upon first entering the plane Abigail waited for Franklin as he talked via the radio transceiver to his supposed colleague in Germany, this Klaus hoped would lend more credibility to his intricate scam.

Once in their seats Franklin related those details which Abigail was partially prevented from hearing, she had been standing outside the cockpit and in a particularly noisy part of the rattling airplane.

Franklin laid out the general plan.

"Well, everything is settled and waiting. My friend, who is head of security at Heidelberg Air Force Base has insured me that he will do everything he can to keep the plane on the runway for one hour. He will provide some type of distraction which should delay the flight long enough for us to do our part. Once we get there he will escort us to the runway, there we will secure a forklift and removed the prize."

Franklin looked around the aircraft before leaning closer to Abigail so that only she may hear the last bit of plan.

"We will simply wait in one of the hangers until night, then its simply a matter of reserving the next flight out. We will load the device into the plane and be off within minutes."

------------------------------------------------------------

At that moment Walter couldn't make up his mind as to which was more exciting, the thought of adventuring for Dragon's teeth or the hand of a gorgeous dame resting on his upper thigh.

"Ive always wanted to visit Bulgaria." Walter said as he placed his hand over and upon hers.

Walter's enthusiasm did much to cover his true thoughts of concern and suspicion. He had suddenly remembered the few words Abigail said about an important letter that he was meant to receive.

Walter had added to this the troubled demeanor of Abigail's voice over the phone, both of the aspects were wearing heavily on his mind.

Abegail leaned close to Franklin, listening to all he had to say. The plan sounded feesible she just wished she knew him better, trusted him more. If this was Walter's plan she wouldn't think twice. In fact it had more thought and planning than one of Walter's plans. He tended to work off the cuff. Abegail couldn't help but smile at the thought of her friend and their adventures. Their spontanaety seemed to compliment each other. She wondered how Franklin would act if she changed the plan on the fly.

For now she was mildly content to go along with things.

"I do not understand what you need more for exactly. You seem to have many contacts. My presence does not sound like it will help or hinder you. I am going if it means getting Walter back but I am still unsure as to my part."

Abegail couldn't help but feel that staying in the hangar overnight would not be as easy as Franklin made it sound. "Tell me, is there night security for us to worry about at the hangar?"
---
Charlotte blushed and smiled as Walter placed his hand on hers. "Perfect..." All of her plans were falling into place.

"I can have us set up on a plane for Bulgaria in less than an hour. May I use your phone Dr Rivers?"

She did not take her hand from under his, instead playing coy and staring at him. "I look forward to this trip and working with you. I have studied your work extensively." Charlotte leaned in a bit more towards Walter.

"Phone...I should make arrangements for us. I can't tell you how happy I am."

Charlotte paused, scrutinizing Walter for signs of changing his mind. She wanted to ensure his entire focus was her and the dragon's teeth. She left her hand on his leg and with her other crossed his body to touch the back of Walter's head. The move put their faces very close together. Her fingers traced into his hair. "How is your head?"

Charlotte locked eyes with him, her slender fingers tracing the bump on his head lightly.

"Well frankly professor, I didn't think it would be so easy, I thought we would be forced to venture into the occupied zone to retrieve the device, but since all the drama with Walter happened."

Klaus made it a point to call the professor by his first name, in order to give a sense that he was familiar with Walter on a personal level. These were just some of the tricks of the trade, so to speak, for individuals like Klaus who live their entire lives in deceit and deception.

"Walter's professional notoriety opened many doors when it came to making certain arrangements." Klaus continued.

Franklin and Abigail had talked about the device at great length during the flight. He had told her about the healing capacity of the machine, describing it as a kind of Positive pressure intubation device.

The healing factor of the armor suit is meant to repair any damage inflicted upon the wearer during battle, in order to keep that soldier in sufficient condition to carry on in battle for an extended period.

The plane was now only minutes from landing at the base, the two passengers had begone gathering their things in preparation to disembark.

---------------------------------------------------------

Walter felt a little uncomfortable as he sat in close proximity to the strong willed blond, though he had managed to suppress this unease, the intimacy of the moment did a lot to smooth over the anxiety.

"Oh my head?, a lot better thank you." Walter replied in answer to her concern.

"Sure! The phone is all yours. Take your time, I need to pack anyway."

Walter surprised Charlotte a little when he removed himself from her advances and went into his room to pack a light-travel case.

Abegail nodded to Franklin's statements. Of course it wouldn't be easy and even though the plan seemed to come together she wondered if it would go off as expected. She frowned as he mentioned Walter. It was true, Walter's reputation did aid in some things. Perhaps they did know each other. The question was how well, she had never heard him mention Franklin before. They had been out of each other's company for a time now so it was possible that Franklin and Walter had developed a friendship.

The talk of the device, the suit meant to keep a wounded soldier going made Abegail pause. She understood fully why an army would want such a thing but she was comfortable and used to carrying around her pieces of the Flag. She wasn't entirely convinced the device was for her. She'd go after it as it meant Walter's return but as to her use of it, she was still unsure.

As they stood, gathering their things Abegail leaned in to Franklin, "So I am sorry but exactly who are we getting the device for? I know we want to get Walter back but exactly who has him, who wants this and who were you initially working for?" She was hoping by continually questioning him that she might find any lies or inconsistencies.

Abegail followed Franklin off of the plane.
---
Charlotte barely hid her sneer as Walter untangled himself from her grasp. How could he think of packing when she was practically in his lap?

Smiling sweetly, she hid her disgust. Charlotte stood and brushed her skirt, smoothing out wrinkles that were not really there.

"Thank you, I will get right on our travel arrangements."

Charlotte moved to the phone and dialed a number. She waited until it was connected and then proceeded to tell the person on the other line what she wanted arranged. "Two tickets, yes. Two hotel rooms please for when we arrive and a car."

There was a pause. "Oh, I understand. Yes well we will figure out an arrangement. Yes thank you. We will be there in less than an hour. Flight is in hour and a half? Wonderful, thank you."

She placed the receiver down. Everything had already been in place. Two tickets, one hotel room, the car...everything to ensure that Walter was always close, always watched and Charlotte was in control.

She smiled and moved across the room to where Walter had gone to pack, she spoke loudly to ensure he could hear her.

"Our plane leaves in an hour and a half, a car will be waiting for us upon arrival. The only hitch is the hotel only had one room available. I am sure we can find a way to make that work for a few nights. Don't you Dr Rivers."

Klaus had prepared for every conceivable question that might arise within Abigail's mind, and so when she asked him details concerning those parties interested in the device, he simply went through the preparation.

"Well, originally I was asked to retrieve the device by the British Army. They feared that the Soviets, or worse yet the Nazi might discover it. You see, the Germans only knew of the device in its planning stages, that document detailing the device was all that existed, or so they thought. My assignment was to prevent these parties from possessing this most awesome power."

What Abigail had no way of knowing of course was that Klaus' only intention was to retrieve the device for his own purposes.

"As to who has abducted Walter, I'm not entirely certain." This was another lie.

"There is one person, I met her while I was undercover at an American base, she had infiltrated the unit for some reason, which until this very moment I have been unable to ascertain."

Klaus and Charlotte had in fact been stationed there together, their mission had been to gather information on the American involvement in the first few years of the war.

What Klaus himself did not know was where Charlotte's current allegiances lay.

"Its always difficult to tell who is on what side in the spy business. Its hard to unravel things, its a lot like many Occult lodges, the point at which one secret society is simply a mask for another, is blurred at best. I'm sure Walter could confirm this, you see that is how we met. I'm not sure how much you know about professor Miller's interest in regards to the Occult, but we were both members in the same lodge a few years ago."

This one statement was the only time Klaus had spoken the truth since first meeting Abigail. A small six step staircase had been pulled up to the main hatch to assist in Klaus and Abigail's departure from the aircraft.

The two of them walked the tarmac back toward the hangers to the left of the main building, Franklin turned his head as he walked and informed Abigail as to where they would meet their contact. As they walked they both cast several glances to the right to see the DC-4 that Franklin had mentioned.

"There it is." Franklin said to Abigail before turning his head back to face front.

From one of the hangers came the man who Klaus had arranged to serve as his contact, this person was not what Klaus had claimed however, the man was simply acting the part out.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Walter was a proficient packer, he somehow always knew exactly what to bring with him and to what quantity of personal belongings to lug around on any given adventure.

Everything was well placed and arranged in the small case, trousers, shirts, socks.....Alarm clock!!" Walter had unknowingly grabbed the clock, mistaken it for his revolver-The blonds comment concerning the single bed had thrown off the learned professors concentration.

"Um, ah yeah."

Looking down at the bed and his case he noticed the misplaced item.
