She bears the tattoo of a large red spider Lilly, it spreads from her right hip and circles up her side. It ends on the right shoulder blade.

General Appearance
She resembles a young child in every aspect. Her huge doe eyes are set low on her delicate face, giving her a look of doll-like innocence and youth, and what a pair of eyes they are too. The color of fresh blood, they are hauntingly empty, it's been said that if you look deep enough into them she will claim your soul. Although no one can confirm nor deny this. Her hair frames her silky white skin, an ebony curtain that perfectly encircles her small features. It hangs soft and precise, the black of night itself that adorns her head. Her body as well is just as a child's. Not developed at all, her belly has the slight pudge of youth, her chest is not yet hit puberty. It remains flat against her, her legs are short and her feet are small. Many people still find her alluring, this comes from her vampire charm, well unless the person in question is some sort of pervert. All in all, she gives off a rather ghostly visage, it haunts the minds of a few humans who have laid eyes upon her.

Personality
Malicious◆ Calculating◆ Vindictive◆ Childish◆ Insecure◆ Controlling

A woman of few words and discreet actions, Milly is certainly not one to anger. She has a bit of a temper and a bad habit of holding onto grudges for ridiculous amounts of time. She is also a bit vengeful, if you wrong her she will never let it go. In fact sometimes you don't even have to do anything to her directly, she will just choose someone to torment relentlessly, no matter what you do, once she's chosen you as someone on her "list" you will never escape her wrath. Because of that most people tend to stay away from her, causing her to be rather alone most of the time, save for a handful of her servants and guards. On top of her unquenchable need for revenge, she also just seems to enjoy harming others, always on edge ready for any excuse to write someone off. She comes across as hostile and stubborn. Like a spoiled child. Although she does not act like that in such a way that people write her off as violent or foolish. No, she knows how to behave to earn herself respect and still instill fear in the hearts of those she wishes to fear her. She is very meticulous, clever. She knows what makes people tick, she can see it. She will tug at the strings that control them, calmly and collectedly. She never will let the other person know if she is truly riled up. Unless it's in its most extreme form. After all these years she has learned that subtle sabotage works best and boy has she had time to perfect that art.

However, she is not a being of pure wrath and subtle trickery no. She is still only a child, as such she will act like one. She gets happy about strange things and she forms very strong bonds with select people, once she has a bond she would be willing to give her life for them or do anything in her power to guard them. Whatever she holds precious to her will be safe no matter what. Milly is also insecure, she knows people hate her and deep down it stings her kind side. A side she has been repressing for years. She feels she isn't good enough, others are better, she isn't beautiful, she's only a foolish child. These thoughts cause her great distress and suffering. Once Milly has latched onto someone she tends to be incredibly possessive and jealous, on top of that she is very controlling. She knows if you allow variables bad things happen and the outcome is never certain. She doesn't like having unhappy or unwanted outcomes, so she tries to force others to her ways of life. Controlling everything she can. The power isn't even why she does it, she truly believes if she acts this way that they will be safer. That if she were to be High Queen, she could save everyone.

Likes
Red Spider Lilies⇁the Red Spider Lilly represents death and a prelude to rebirth. As such she developed a fondness towards them, what they symbolize. Seeing as she too died and was reborn as a vampire. They are like her mascot for her new life, yes it's kind of lame for some people but to her it's a big deal. She has a garden full of them.
Snow⇁Milly loves the feeling of the cold against her skin, she likes any feeling at all, but the feeling of being cold is her favorite. She does nothing to get warm again, she instead welcomes it. The shivers, the pain in her side trying to breathe in, all of it. She welcomes happily. Why? Because the snow is all she's ever known. The pillow of white is what she remembers most from her living years.
Having a friend⇁Spending most of her time alone, or with blood-thralls, she doesn't have many friends if any at all. The few she has don't trust her, who would? She hates that she isn't the kind of person who is trustworthy, don't get her wrong she won't try and change, but she just doesn't like how her cards have fallen. This however, doesn't stop her from trying to make new companions.

Dislikes
Being warm⇁Something about the feeling makes her feel sick. It reminds her of bad times, times when she felt pain. On top of that it makes her severely uncomfortable and irritable. She isn't fully sure why, she just much prefers the cold and will not sit still and allow herself to be too warm, she will stop that from happening. In fact she takes ice cold baths almost every day.
Bright lights⇁Because of her frail condition, which was caused in life, bright lights cause her to become very ill and she can go blind for periods of time. Which is why if she travels in bright light of any kind she will wear a black silken mask over her eyes. It shields her sensitive eyes from the harshness of light.
Humans⇁Milly holds a deep contempt for them, even though she was not born as a vampire. She hates humans with all her heart because of what they did to someone very precious to her. She will not hesitate to kill humans when they scorn her, most humans better pray they never even meet Millicent. If they valure their lives. The more beautiful ones she keeps as blood-slaves or servants. Treating them horribly.

Strengths
Subtle⇁The way Milly goes about her business is very subtle. It's as if she isn't really doing anything. As will be touched on below, she is very observant which allows her special skill-set to come in handy. After all it's much easier to manipulate and control others if they think its their idea.
Observant⇁As mentioned above, Milly has the natural talent for observance. Whether it be simple things around her to the body language and tells of those around her. Allowing her to catch onto things most other people wouldn't. This talent of hers comes in handy in her particular line of work. Mainly because her entire motivation is to overthrow the king and rise to be High Queen, sabotage is key. So, observance is a handy skill to have in her arsenal.
Precise⇁Her attention to detail is like none other, this plus her innate observance is in part why people think she can see into and steal people's souls. In a sense she can. She studies you, understands you, sometimes even knows your motives before you do. She uses these details to flawlessly pull strings like a puppeteer. Knowing how much to tug them to get you to dance. Never missing that mark.

Weaknesses
Sickly⇁Because of the plague that swept her village when she was alive, Milly's immortal form is now weaker because of it. She will have fits of coughing and she becomes very shaky very easily. Milly also becomes extremely exhausted, even if she doesn't do anything at all. She will become dizzy and on rare occasion she will vomit. Because she was only in the early stage of the disease when turned, she won't get worse, but she won't get better either.
Jealous⇁Once she gets attached to someone, Milly becomes insanely protective of them and possessive of them. If they even mention someone's name a little tinge of anger sparks up in her at the person named. If she sees her precious one with another, no matter who they are to them, she will become very hostile and angry. Because of this, no one will get close to her out of fear of what she'd do.
No sense of direction⇁Never being able to tell which way she is going is a bit of a disadvantage. Especially if she were to get lost. She only knows where she is because of landmarks. As you could guess this is a bit of a problem for her and because of this she always has a guide with her. Her most trusted member of her "family."

Fears
Storms⇁Ever since she was a child she's always had an irrational fear of thunderstorms. The loud noise never fails to startle her.
Humans⇁Because of the ferocity she has witnessed that they possess, Milly has this part of her that is truly afraid of humans. A part of her she tries to suppress.

❝Silent and graceful, truly something that is a worthy tool. It's humble blade can fall even the strongest of men, without a single tell.❞
Weapon
Dagger⇁A sleek and and curved blade rests upon a crimson and black hilt. The pommel of the hilt has an ebony claw, whenever she uses it to jab into people it absorbs part of their essence or blood depending on if they are undead or not. Gifted to her by her mistress, the previous Baroness, Eugenia Báthory.

❝Too long have I toiled in futility. In the shadow of my king. I do believe it's time for a new ruler, someone who knows how to get things done.❞
Goals
Rise in power⇁She wishes to rise up and overthrow the current king and take over his position. All in the name of Eugenia, the woman she loved and the previous Baroness.

Biography
Millicent was born as a simple peasant girl, she lived in a small village and was very happy. She loved life, more than anything though, she loved her family. They all loved her and took the best care of her that they could. She would play with the other kids, she'd pull weeds for her neighbors, and she would help her mother cook dinner. She lived happily like that until she was six years old, then however a plague swept her village. All but her family was stricken with it, or that's how it seemed. So, a group of doctors arrived, sealing off the village, labeling it a quarantine. Men arrived in the weeks following by the cart full, then they began building huge walls around the village. A steel gate was put in place, they were going to be locked away for good. Milly's mother, a face she can't even put a name to anymore, managed to escape with her. Unfortunately her father did not make it out. Milly remembers her mother was shattered, he was the only man her mother had ever known.

A few months later, while wandering about in the wilds, her mother was hunched over by a tree crying out in pain. It seemed that her mother had been with child, perhaps that added to the pain she felt without her husband. Looking back, Milly realizes how pointless the whole escape was. She knew even then that they were already super vulnerable, now they were practically already dead meat. Although shockingly, they were able to get by for a few years. Running from village to village and onto sanctuary, or so they thought. At this time Milly was 13, her baby sister was 7 and her mother was practically a zombie. They all arrived at a run down Victorian monastery. It was rather run-down and dark. They had gotten in without any trouble, although what they found wasn't very good. It seemed a gang of feral monsters had slaughtered all the monks. Standing over the freshest kill was a woman, her skin chalky white, her hair a flowing mane of cornsilk. Milly's mother stood shakily, frozen in fear but able to choke out a few threats. Milly closed her eyes for a moment and when her eyes opened her mother and little sister were both dead. Shaking herself in horror at the contorted corpses, tears rolling down her round cheeks. The woman stalked towards her. Saying how she was to be used as a blood-sacrifice, a meal for the strong. The other lesser monsters surrounded her and bound her to the altar within the innermost chamber of the monastery. The weaker ones took turns molesting her, cutting her, beating on her. Then the woman shoved past them all and stood above her with a dagger, it gleamed in the dim light. It whispered to her, telling her of power of murder. This gave the young girl an idea. She was already broken, numbed from all the horror she had witnessed so she bargained with the woman. Milly found out the woman's name was Eugenia Báthory, she was amused by Milly's fearlessness. Her lack of fear of dying, of torture. Intrigued so much she decided to turn the child.

While the first few years were nearly impossible and incredibly painful. Between the sexual abuse the woman, Eugenia, caused her and the insatiable cravings for killing. Milly had it tough. Once the first hundred years was under her belt, Eugenia adopted her. No longer a servant but now a "daughter" for Milly had learned how to pull the hag's strings. How to control her. You see the upside of studying under such an odious woman was, she learned all her nasty and cruel tools of the trade. In fact she took to them so well she easily surpassed Eugenia in terms of ability. Yes, she despise Eugenia but she also grew madly in love with her. Milly was insanely in love with Eugenia, with her beauty, with her cruelty, her cunning, and her power. Milly was not accustomed to such intense emotions, Eugenia assured her it was only because she was her master, the one who created her. Nothing more. Milly knew different, after all Madam Eugenia always played with her body, teasing and testing her limits. Milly didn't mind anymore, she was wholly devoted. A bit of Stockholm syndrome for sure. After living, loving, and learning under Eugenia for two hundred years, it happened. Humans. It had been so long Milly forgot she was one once, she had adopted Madam Eugenia's hatred of them. The selfish weaklings they were. Nothing but blood, a meal. Nothing more. Insects to be crushed. Although this time, unlike the usual thugs that attacked, these were talented. These were very skilled. They were trained to kill vampires. Eugenia fought valiantly. However the older vampire knew full well that she was going to be killed that day, this was the end. Well she needed to set it all up for Milly. She was close with the king, they were erm, friends once upon a time. She gave Milly her dagger, the first-class weapon of choice, a note for the king, and a message. "The king will instate you as my replacement. Baroness Báthory. Go, usurp that old bastard and rule in my name. Save us from this extinction." Then Eugenia kissed the girl and ran out, drawing the humans away and giving up her life to ensure Milly's safety. Weeping Milly ran away. Ran to where Eugenia told her to find the king.

Once she found him, it took a few years to get everything in place, the king was wary of her but instated her anyway. That's how it was. Easy as that. Milly never forgot the face of the human who took her love away, a man with death gleaming in his eyes. She swore an oath to slit his throat with Eugenia's dagger, to see his murderous blood get absorbed into her blade. So, over the years she amassed a small pack of thralls, slaves, and servants to aid her. She was a baroness after all. Her hatred for human's only simmered all those years, festering, growing until it dominated her mind. She became obsessed with the last words Eugenia ever spoke to her. ". . .Usurp that old bastard. Rule in my name." Milly vowed she would take over. For the betterment of all her kind.

Empire Headquarters were chaos. Pages frantically running from office to office notifying those who hadn't already been alerted by the shouts outside of the assembly that had been called seemingly out of nowhere. The General had called a meeting of every officer on base. He was rarely heard or seen by anyone other than the Lieutenant, so to call such a large meeting he must have caught wind of something major, and chances are it wouldn't be good. Things rarely were nowadays. To make it worse the assembly was called just 10 minutes prior. They didn't honestly think they'd be able to get hundreds of officers in uniform and on the parade square in less than 20 minutes, but it was a direct order from the General, and he isn't known for his kindness towards those who disappoint him. So the fearful pages ran throughout the halls of the military dormitories, air horns in hand screaming for those who were not yet awake to get in uniform and on the parade square as fast as humanly possible.

The vampire capital was much more calm, having called a meeting of the upper class vampires an hour. Though this did little to ease the building tension, as the vampires sat in the large auditorium. Whispering their theories as to why they were gathered on such short notice as the filtered into the theater. Normally they were given at least a months notice as well as insight as to what the meeting would be about, but this time they were only given the time and place. Each one just as clueless as to why they were there, not one daring to skip the meeting. If the king found out chances are they'd be killed or demoted, a rare but cruel punishment. Silence fell across the room as the king stepped out onto the stage, the anticipation of the upcoming announcement growing by the minute.

Some old wounds never truly heal, and bleed again at the slightest word

The day had begun early for Baroness Bathory, she had awoken to the sound of her few remaining slaves running to and fro. Her main servant, a butler by the name of Andreas, was standing at the foot of her black satin bed.

"My lady, you have been summoned by the King himself. Seems to be a big to do, a meeting of the well-oft. Shall I send you via the transport? Or will you be walking?" The small girl's body remain still, like a pebble midst a stream, unmoved even by all going on around it. Andreas tightened his lips into a thin line, he wasn't about to allow his mistress to ignore a direct summons, it seemed incredibly important. Lady Eugenia, her predecessor, had never denied the king. Of anything really, whether it be her presence or her body if he so willed it, she gave it. This new lady of house Bathory was so lazy, so aloof. Lost in her own world, her voice was almost a whisper at all times, soft and young. Andreas couldn't understand it one bit. Why wouldn't Lady Eugenia just give him the new ruling position he had served her for centuries. But, no instead he was given this child. This child who's eyes saw into his very soul, judging him, whenever she looked directly at him it was as if he were nude and on display. Vulnerable for all to see. He hated her. She made the hairs on his neck stand on end.

"I shan't ask you again madam. Arise and be off. Lady Eugenia would never-" Just like that in a blink of an eye Millicent was behind him, Lady Eugenia's dagger to his throat, her eyes alert like a Lioness on the hunt, Andreas felt the razor sharp blade slice his neck to where a bead of his deep crimson blood formed on the tip of the black metal.

"I'd appreciate it immensely if you closed that ever prattling void of a mouth." She lowered the blade and walked around in front of him, he towered over her but he was clearly frozen in fear, even he had not seen her make a move.

"I'll be taking the transport, walking would be my end." She turned and began getting dressed dismissing him with one more statement.

"If you ever mention your previous mistress in my presence again or compare me to her. I will kill you without a second thought." Her eyes trained on the taller vampire, his pride withered into nothing, white as a sheet he bowed low and muttered his apology before hurrying out away from the demoness that now ruled him.

____

By the time she had arrived at the specified meeting place, she was dressed in a long fine kimono, it was the color of blood with Raven feathers in the pattern. A stunning gown against her pale skin and stark hair. Other well-known vampire lords and ladies were filtering into the auditorium, some Millicent recognized, others she did not. Not that she minded because as she entered everyone around her went oddly quiet, as if her aura alone muted them. Some drew in sharp breaths hoping she wouldn't look at them. The odd rumor about her eyes stealing souls had become fact to the community. Because of this no one would ever meet her gaze and they'd play it off as if they weren't doing it on purpose. It hurt the girl, not enough to where it mattered really. She made her way to a seat and sat down, her slender hand rested on her thigh, she was greeted by the outline of her treasured dagger. You never know when you might need protection. It brought her calm knowing it was close to her. A wicked smile eased onto her delicate face as the king entered, silencing the room completely, the hushed whispers dying off like the burned out embers of a powerful fire. Oh how she longed to have influence as he did. Soon she would possess that respect for herself. Controlling all the vampires without a word. She was close to that now, but definitely not as well as the king. Something about him was awe-striking, perhaps his age or his experience. Either way, giants fell every day. It was only a matter of time until this Goliath fell as well. Who better to claim the kill than the lovely Baroness from the outlands?

No one.

ImageSaxon lifted his forearm from his eyes and winced at the incoming light. He blinked a few times dispersing the dark spots blurring his vision. He sighed. Now that he had woken up, he was obligated to get up out of bed. He cursed his inability to fall back asleep once he woke up.

It was only when he attempted to push himself up from the comfortable cushion, that he registered the body entangling his own. 'Huh.' He thought to himself slightly amused. How had he missed that? Dispassionately, he took in the appearance of the female draped over him. Wavy, chestnut hair tickled his chin and alabaster skin contrasted sharply with his dark, tawny color. She was younger than him from the looks of it. Well, he honestly could not be sure. That was the trouble with vampires. Saxon slowly untangled their two bodies. Skillfully and gently as not to rouse the girl from her slumber. He slipped out of his bed and shivered as his feet touched the floor and his bare body was subjected to the cool air of the her bedroom. He promptly began picking up the clothes strewn over her floor. Shrugging back into his shirt and pants from the previous night. With the more feminine garments in his arms, he laid them down on the foot of her bed. Folding them and placing them in a neat pile. When he could help it, Saxon preferred to keep spaces neat. He sat down on the edge of the bed and slipped his feet into brown leather boots. Fully dressed, he leaned back on his hands and gazed at the young woman. Well, she was cute enough he would admit. Ghosting over her heart shaped face, he moved a lock of her hair from her lips. Before the thought of otherwise could even emerge in his mind, he leaned over and pressed his lips to her temple. Relishing how warm she was. 'Berries. . .' He absently noted. That was what she smelled like. He pulled away and stood once more. Pulling the blanket up higher, he tucked it around her petite body. Could not have her freeze to death after all.

Turning on the ball of his foot, he grabbed his sword from its haphazard spot on the floor and strapped it to his back. With one last glance at the girl sleeping soundly, he opened the heavy door slowly to make a silent getaway. "Crap." He muttered under his breath. What was her name? That was just like the young man. He could not remember names for the life of him. 'Celini? Ceana? . . . Crescent?' No. None of those sounded correct. Saxon ran a rough hand through his snowy hair. He could feel a sense of irritation already mounting for what was sure to come later. The girl would find him later undoubtedly. She seemed like the clingy type. She definitely looked like one of those people who bitched and whined and sulked once they realized he had forgotten their name. And he was never in the mood to deal with that drama. He released a resigned sigh. He always ended up with those types.

Only making it one foot out of the door, he ran into a smaller figure. Or maybe she ran into him. It was her face implanted in his chest after all. Saxon tensed at the contact and instinctively pushed her off of him with a grimace. She stuttered an apology and he dismissed it with a flippant wave.

The smaller auburn haired girl steeled herself before the bored eyes of the infamous Laurentiu brother. The others were right, she would find him here. Today at least. "Sir, the King has called a very important meeting. He is expecting all of the upper class to meet at once." Saxon hummed curiously and raised a slim brow. This was new, he best be on his way.

Taking smooth long strides down the hallway, he called out over his shoulder to the tiny page. "You might want to inform the girl in there as well. She seems like a heavy sleeper. Ciana I think." The page looked from him and peeked into the bedroom. 'Althea. . .' She thought with a disappointed sigh.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Waltzing into the large auditorium, the designated meeting place, he scanned the room for familiar faces and empty seats. Spotting the telltale mane of golden curls belonging to his precious sister Cordelia, Saxon made his way towards her. On his way a small frame clad in a crimson kimono caught his eye. He smiled lazily. Not bothering to stop as there was no time to talk anyway, he stretched out a hand and caught a lock of Millicent's inky strands. Letting them slip through his fingertips as he walked past her seat to his own.

He slid into the empty seat next to Cordelia. Just in time it seemed. The King strode purposefully forth and onto the stage, and the chatter of the room fell silent. Saxon bounced his leg in anticipation for the news.

Kygo had legitimately never been more bored in his life, though that may or may not have been over exaggerated considering the fact that he was starving. He hadn't eaten in what felt like days due to his being busy and not wanting to waste time. He sat in one of the upper booths that lined the theater, out of the major crowd of any commoners but at the same time, able to hear his father.

He had told his father he didn't want to be on stage with him not because it embarrassed Kygo, but because he simply didn't want to. Kygo watched those he knew enter, interested in who was there while at the same time, entirely uninterested. He watched Millicent arrive in her blood red kimono. It was somewhat similar to his own though his was a tunic instead, and the red was a deeper crimson than hers, the patterns on it gold veins as if it showed the thing that truly kept his kind alive. His pants were black and the sash that kept his tunic in place was gold like the veins.

He had been awake for hours, though the light that had awoken him to prepare for the day was artificial and caused him to miss the childish thoughts of wanting to see the sun.

Saxon entered and sat beside his sister, both Kygo's cousins. He didn't necessarily know if he loved them considering they were not his immediate family, though he did cherish them and care for them. It was love, but Kygo was too naive to recognize it due to his young life.

Kygo watched his father stride onto stage, his strength something that Kygo always wished he would one day have, but at the same time, didn't want due to the fear of being too much like his father. The horror that would be, to only be a shadow, to not be in the lime light.

Kygo leaned back in his seat, taking in the large crowd and smirking slightly at the fact that he was higher ranked than nearly all of them. Perhaps one or two not including his father were above him. It was not nearly as important as he thought it was, Kygo knew that, but he didn't care, it helped boost him in the reality that it made him feel like he had value, even if he possibly didn't do anything...

ImageGavril panted to himself as he golden gaze watched the training dummy slowly slide to the ground in a mass of clean cut pieces. He hadn't meant to destroy the dummy but he was rather worked up this morning and he needed to rip something apart. He could always stir up trouble with humans but he had made a promise not to take unnecessary risks. The humans had new weapons that could fell even an upper class vampire such as himself and he could not afford to be as careless as he had been in his ventures. He had already paid the price for that and he did not want to make a repeated mistake. Besides his sister would surely gut him if he even dared think about going after the humans without her. She had the same ire and drive to kill the humans for what they did to their father. Just thinking about it made his blood boil. That of course led to thoughts about his half brother and his father's obvious lack of fidelity. Gavril snarled, baring his fangs before he stabbed the dummy to vent out his frustrations.

The vampire turned away from the mess he caused and grabbed the towel he had brought with him to wipe off some of the sweat he had collected through his training before he turned to his sword and inspected it for any damages considering his rough handling of it throughout the morning. He grabbed his sharpening tool and smoothed out the edges to his liking before he sheathed his favorite weapon. It was a black blade that sliced just about anything like a knife through butter. Its handle was as silver as moonlight and the designs emasculate and artistic. He wasn't usually one for flashy blades so there were no gems or gaudy attachments. It was simple and beautiful like deadly art should be. Its sheath was equally obsidian with silver lining and his family's dragon blazon glistened when it caught the light. That was the flashiest thing on the sword.

Before the vampire could fathom what he'd like to do next in his day, a page hurried into the training area like a bat out of hell. He arched an eyebrow at the young vampire wondering would could possibly make the page so flustered. "His Royal Higness! The king has summoned you to an important meeting! He has called upon all the nobility to attend and is about to begin! I am sorry for getting you so late, but I could not find you!"

Gavril's eyes widened. An important meeting was about to be held and he was going to be late? He hadn't even had the chance to wash up after his practice session. His eyes narrowed on the page in the infamous Laurențiu disproving glare that could curdle one's very blood. "This should have been the first place you checked!" he growled as he hastily as he wet his towel and tried to clean off as best as he could as he rushed towards the door. He was always in the training facility so he found the page's excuse a terrible lie. He pulled on his clothing as he made his way to the meeting room. If the king had already started speaking, so help him he was going to find that page later and skewer him alive over a spit! This was unacceptable! Above all things Gavril hated being late to anything. It was either early or on time, but never late!

The vampire managed to slide into the meeting room doing his best to disguise his pant and ran his hand through his dark locks one last time in an attempt to make it look presentable and less disorganized than he felt in that moment. At least his clothing wasn't rumpled. Damn it he valued his appearance and his ability to seem ever calm. Damn page. At least the king hadn't started his speech though it seemed he had made it just in time. He rushed to his seat beside his sister and the prince, a high honor to be seated so close to both the king and the prince. He offered his sister and the prince a smile in greeting though he barely managed a nod to his brother. He even gave a nod to Millicent in acknowledgement of her presence. Unlike many of the other vampires, he did not fear her nor did he believe the silly rumors about her eyes stealing peoples souls. It was just hogwash really. Millicent was an interesting vampire to say the least however and she did have her mysteries... mysteries he wished to one day dispel.

No matter, all that was for later pondering. He turned his attention to his king and folded his hands, ever the model of an attentive and loyal duke. He owed the world to the king and saw him much as a father figure, especially after his own father's passing. He would do just about anything for the man should he be asked. He respected no man higher and was honored to be thought of so highly as to outrank all of the dukes gathered around the table and even the prince beside him. Of the vampires assembled, he also fancied himself the one closest to the king considering the man favored him. Which made his tardiness all the more unbearable. He was going to have to make sure he found that page later and deal with him personally for his mistake.

Cordelia awoke to the knocking of the door. “Come in.” She murmured sleepily as she sat up, golden locks forming a messy halo around her head. Though Cordelia wasn’t averse to waking up early, her sleeping habits were much like a child’s, going to sleep early and waking up after exactly eight hours. It was only healthy, as her mother would say.

The door was opened to reveal a page, standing at attention as he spoke. “Lady, the king has called an important meeting. He has summoned all nobility to attend.” A meeting? It sounds like something interesting was going to happen, considering that the King would not simply call upon all nobles for any trivial meeting. Perhaps it had something to do with the humans… A murderous look flashed in her eyes for a second. She would never forgive those vile humans for what they did to her father. For every bit of pain they inflicted on him, she was going to repay it ten times over. Still, she smiled at the page politely, nodding to dismiss him before pushing herself off the bed and going toward the dressing room. It wasn’t particularly early, but she didn’t feel as if she was in too much of a hurry. A lady shouldn’t be too early or too late, she should arrive right on time.

Brushing her hair, she pulled her corkscrew curls into two neat twintails, using her ribbon as a hair band. This time, she chose a flowing blue gown to go to the meeting. It was one of the rare few her mother had designed for her, considering the fact that Cordelia had a hobby in making her own clothes. It might be just her intuition, but this meeting was definitely quite serious, and she needed to make a good impression.

Even though it took some time before she decided that she looked satisfactory, Cordelia was still among the first to arrive at the meeting. The seats were rather high, it was obvious that they were meant for those looking like adults. It was another problem with vampires perhaps, but Cordelia could never look her age. She wasn’t a child by vampire standards any longer, though her body was still developing slowly. Swinging her legs under the table, she waited a little impatiently for the others to arrive. “Saxon!” She beamed at her adopted brother in delight, before her attention diverted to a figure clad in red. “It’s nice to see you here as well, Milly!” She called out, giving the Baroness a small wave. Millicent was someone her brothers knew, and though Cordelia had never spoken to her before her brothers seemed to have a good impression of her.

Prince Kyogo arrived next, and he was greeted with a bright smile as well when he took his seat. Gavril was unusually not present yet, however. Cordelia arched her neck, looking for her brother as the other nobles filed in. It was quite odd, considering how much his brother valued his pride. He was always punctual or early in all the years she knew him. He appeared soon however, and Cordelia returned his greeting, though the nod toward Saxon made her frown slightly. The atmosphere between them had been unusually cold lately, and Cordelia never understood why. If she was absolutely honest, she had her doubts toward the prince for causing the sudden distance, but she would never admit that fact. She knew that it wasn’t polite to make baseless accusations.

The King started addressing them then, causing her to snap to attention. Sitting upright in the position that had been drilled into her head, Cordelia crossed her legs underneath the table and rested her hands on her lap expectantly.

Atsuko woke up at seven in the morning as usual. It was when training usually started, and her body that was conditioned to expect it had not forgotten, causing her eyelids to flutter open exactly the same time as the clock next to her started beeping. Her hand reached out to tap the clock silent, and ruby red eyes stared up at the ceiling as her sleepy mind tried to pull itself together. Ah yes, training. It didn’t take her long to get dressed, Atsuko’s mind was in autopilot as she changed, drowsily brushed her teeth and got ready to do her exercises. It was a routine set, and she had never missed a day of it. Despite how it might appear, her body was tuned to the military style training.

Her morning exercises were long over when the call came for them to assemble, and Atsuko was reading a book about first aid when the announcement for assembly came. Giving the messenger a quick nod, she changed into her uniform impeccably, striding out to join the soldiers in a neat file. Her brother would be disappointed if she arrived late or just on time, a soldier always needed to prepared and punctual.

She held her red scarf closer as she stood on the tips of her toes, trying to seek out the others from a sea of unfamiliar heads. Today’s gathering must be something quite important since there was so many here, but Atsuko didn’t want to lose sight of their group. It might be a sense of security when she was around with them, even though she was positive that most of them didn’t have a good impression of her. Perhaps she just wasn’t good enough to prove her worth.

Mina wasn't all too happy about the sudden meeting, and it wasn't because her regular plans with the king were cancelled. Under other circumstances she would have been ecstatic to be free from their Saturday lunch. She could act polite and do as she's told to stay in the King's good graces, but that didn't mean she enjoyed his company. It was exhausting having to fulfill his every whim, most often he requested her to play a song on her flute for him. Others he would challenge her to a game of some sorts, like chess. Of course she had to let him win every time, so it had become an endless cycle of losses and long winded conversations she cared little about. A sudden assembly like this certainly couldn't be good. The King wasn't one to frivolously flaunt his power, towards the nobles at least.

Not wanting to waste what little free time she had left on worrying about the meeting, Mina flopped down into her favorite chair. Grabbing the book she had left there the night before, she began to read. Soon finding herself lost within its, contently following the main character's adventure. Time flew by, and before she knew it there was a knock on her door.

Knowing it was likely a page here to remind her of the assembly, she stood up to answer it lethargically. Opening the door she revealed an older looking page. "The meeting starts in 5 minutes, you might want to put on something presentable." He didn't seem to approve of her casual attire consisting of a sweater and shorts. She had originally intended on changing, but now that he mentioned it, she decided to stay in her current clothes just to bother him.

"There's no need. After all, I can't be late." Slipping past the page, she abandoned him in the doorway as she walked to the auditorium. Slipping into a vacant seat towards the back of the theater, she didn't have to wait long. The King stepped out onto the stage almost immediately after she had entered the room.

"My loyal subjects, I'm sorry to have gathered you here on such short notice, but it's for good reason. As you know, the humans have been attacking our settlements and killing the residents, just a few weeks ago they managed to slaughter a pureblood." A gasp escaped the lips of those who had not yet heard this news, Mina included. "We've lived in peace with the humans for far too long. We watched as they destroyed their own planet with pollution and garbage, we watched as they fought amongst themselves with their weapons of mass destruction. No longer will we sit back and watch, no, today is the day we act. We will obliterate the remainder of the human race!" Cheers rose up from the crowd, but Mina just sat there in shock. Not yet comprehending the King's words. "In two hours time we will launch a full out attack on Shibuya, please take this time to say your goodbyes to friends and family as you may not see them again." With that he sauntered of the stage and the room was filled with the whispers and shouts of the vampires.

ImageGavril's eyes widened when the news hit his ears. The humans had managed to kill a pureblood? That was... he had thought it would be impossible for them to do such a thing. They hadn't had weapons strong enough to do something like this before. The humans were becoming increasingly dangerous. They needed to be put down before they truly destroyed everything that was beautiful in this world. Human ambition had always been a devastating quality and now the vampires had that cruelty aimed at them. He had once valued human innovation and vision but now he had come to realize that such blind eagerness to 'advance' would lead to destruction. The humans had destroyed themselves and yet they still couldn't see the blood that stained their hands. They were always so quick to blame others for their faults like children unwilling to take up the mantle of responsibility.

Gavril's hands tightened into fists where they rested on the table and his eyes narrowed in his anger. Finally the king had decided on a full on attack on the humans. It made his heart race in eagerness that he would get the chance to put the bastards in their place. It was very likely that the human that had killed his father and nearly killed him would be there. He'd finally be able to exact his revenge on her as well. He would show her the might of the Laurențiu line. He could already imagine his sword sliding into that wicked heart. Or maybe he would just damage her enough that she could not fight him as he plunged his fangs into her neck and drank her dry. He wanted her to suffer for what she did. He couldn't help the small smile that tugged at the corner of his lip before he turned his attention back to the meeting at hand. He could fantasize about what he'd do to the human later.

The duke sat back in his chair when the king departed after his announcement and reached up to rub his chin. There was a small part of him that wondered if this was a good thing. He remembered how he and his sister and gone into a blood rage and tried to take on a human settlement themselves. It very nearly cost them their lives. Was this a similar situation? Perhaps the king was close to the pureblood that had been slaughtered. Was he thinking clearly? What if this was some sort of attack? Physically attacking Shibuya would mean that they were going into the heart of human civilization and attacking its main stronghold. The humans would have the advantage in that terrain. Hopefully, this wasn't a set up and they could catch the humans by surprise. He would have to keep an close eye on the young prince and his sister... and his brother. He may have mixed feelings about his father's bastard but he didn't want him dead either. It wasn't Saxon's fault his father had strayed after all and he had grown up with the boy.

Gavril turned to his siblings then as he stood from his seat. He would have to make sure they were all well prepared. "All right, you heard the king," he announced. "We need to get ourselves prepared physically and mentally." He knew Saxon had a fascination with the humans and he didn't share the ire that he and his sister held in their hearts so that final point was more directed towards him. "We are going to war and you both need to be ready for what is to come. Stay on your toes. Stay close to the prince. That way we can protect each other if it comes down to it," he instructed. Oh and mother... she would be sad to see the three of them leaving. They needed to say proper good-byes to her.

"Once you are done getting ready, I expect each of you to give proper good-byes to Mother. We will meet at the stables and ride together. Hop to." Gavril might as well take this quick moment to clean himself up as well. He hurried out of the room and rushed through a shower before he dressed and pulled on his black brigandine beneath his attire. He proudly bore his family's emblem upon his breast and secured his sword belt on his hips. When he had everything that he needed for the fight, he hurried to his mother's side.

She was in her personal little garden reading in her favorite chair. His heart ached when he saw her. She was such a strong woman and did so much for all of them. He didn't want to bring her any sad news. He truly loved her so much. He knocked lightly on the door before he entered the room. His mother looked up and gave her eldest a smile.

"Gavril! What a pleasant surprise." She set her book down and sat up with grace to rival the elegant swans. Her smile faded when she realized he was dressed for war and held his helmet in the crook of his arm. Gavril knelt beside his mother and kissed her knuckles in fealty before he gave her a hug. "The king has decided to attack the humans then?"

[color-#8d002b]"Yes. We will be leaving shortly. We are attacking Shibuya."[/color]

"I see." The woman sighed and put a brave face on. She caressed her boy's face before she squeezed his shoulder. "Take care of your brother and sister, Gavril. You have far more experience in battle than they and will look to you for guidance."

"I will, Mother. I'll make sure they come home safely.

"There's a good lad," she smiled. "Don't forget to take care of yourself to. I want to see you walking through those gates when the party returns as well."

Gavril nodded to his mother and gave her another hug before he left the room and headed for the stables to saddle his horse and wait for his siblings.

Some old wounds never truly heal, and bleed again at the slightest word

It hadn't taken long for the rest of the vampires to filter in. Saxon had walked by her as he entered, the fool even dare touch her hair. She didn't want people knowing they were working together. Her small childlike features twisted into a scowl. He looked a mess, did he even try to look nice for such a gathering as this? Milly was becoming rather irritated, then however her irritation lessened a bit as The Grand Duke made an appearance. It was always a treat to see Gavril. Millicent even managed a sly smile as the man nodded her way. He also seemed a bit out of sorts, worse so than Saxon. However instead of feeling disgust, Milicent laughed softly to herself. She didn't know why, but Gavril's lack of composure compared to the rest of them, was very amusing.

After a few moments the king spoke. It was such a shock, gasps and murmurs erupted from the crowd, even Millicent herself was caught off-guard. So much so she even caught her mouth hanging open slightly. Killed a Pureblood? That's impossible! No human-filth should be able to take down a vampire of that caliber. Unless. . . Unless they have become suddenly much stronger. Her mind flickered back to a moment in time, a few years ago when she herself had led an attack on a prominent human family. Milly had easily slain one of the prized children. To think now that the tables had turned so quickly. It was so much to take in. She needed time to think, she needed to focus on her goals. This human war would only get in the way of her plan. She had worked too hard for too long to have it all foiled this easily. Rising quickly after the king finished talking she began a brisk pace out of the auditorium, she needed to speak with Saxon. They needed to discuss their plan. Now they would have to work even harder! All of this excitement, the chance to slaughter not only the king but also humans as well? It caused an empowered smirk to crawl onto her face as she walked.

She spotted the man, getting a pep-talk from Gavril, Milly paused to listen. Ah yes, such a determined power he was, this Grand Duke. A part of her longed to know more about him. She quickly pushed it away, Saxon was her goal. Stepping up to him after Gavril had made his way out Milly's crimson eyes locked onto the boy. Her very soft and calm voice was practically a whisper and yet the noise in the building felt distorted and far away as she spoke, highlighting her own voice.

"Lord Saxon, I was wondering if you'd do me the honor of accompanying me back to my manor. I have a few things I wish to discuss with you. About the upcoming war, of course." It was a bold request although she felt like the urgency of the situation required such boldness.
