● H A I R :xAlice's hair has grown more tame with age. When she was a young kid, her dark brown locks were frizzy and overwhelming. Now they are smooth and naturally curled. She does not miss the bird's nest that it was.

● E Y E S :xHer eyes are what she likes to call an "underwhelming hazel."
There's a little bit of brown, a little fleck of green. She only wishes she could describe her eye colour as dramatically as "green as the lushest of forests" or "blue as the deepest and most vast sea."

● H E I G H T :xAlice stands at a measly 5'2". She used to be the tall kid in elementary school. It's still rough adjusting to being short.

● W E I G H T :xAlice weighs 112lbs. She'll have you know half of that is made up of mint chocolate chip ice-cream.

● E T H N I C I T Y :xNever having known her parents, Alice safely assumes she's got English heritage. Sometimes she even says she's part Swedish for kicks.

● P E R S O N A L I T Y :

β–ˆβ–ˆ
[xx● Playful ● Fiery ● Impulsive ● Blunt ● Strong-Willed ● Defensive ●xx]

I.β–ˆβ–ˆ The one thing people tend to notice about Alice is her playful nature. She is sweet and is always joking around with people. She really just wants to make people happy. She's got that light-hearted and carefree attitude. Having lived in so many rough situations, she hates seeing being miserable or sad. She tries her best to push away those emotions. Some think she isn't the most serious person, but she is when she needs to be. She's constantly there for her friends if they need a shoulder to lean on or someone to listen.

II.β–ˆβ–ˆ One thing's for damn sure, Alice has a lot of personality. Some say she's fiery, but she prefers to think of it as being passionate. She feels everything with her whole being. If she cares about someone, she'd go to the ends of the world for them. If she hates someone... well, you get the point. This trait leads her to be quick-tempered. She can usually brush things off if you don't hit any of her sore spots, but if you go after her friends and family, you'll have one angry petit girl yelling and fighting on their behalf.

III.β–ˆβ–ˆ Alice has a tendency to act first, think later. She's very instinctual, so much so that all her friends have learned not to sneak up on her or they'll get automatically hit. She feels bad about it, she really does. She promises it's not on purpose. Her impulsive nature leads her to be slightly reckless. She'll simply wander off without so much as a word to where she's going, she'll do something that she thinks is right without really thinking of what the consequences could be. Her emotions rule her, not her logic.

IV.β–ˆβ–ˆ Alice has a major case of no-filter syndrome. Like her actions, she tends to speak first, think later. She freely states what she thinks because of her blunt nature, but doesn't do it to be rude or anything. She just has a tendency to speak her thoughts out loud. It comes in handy in tense situations, she promises.

]V.β–ˆβ–ˆ From a young age, Alice has had to take care of her self. She's fiercely independent and strong-willed. She doesn't like having to rely on other people, and it takes awhile and a lot of trust for her to really be able to accept someone's help. She's constantly moved around in her life, never being able to plant roots or make meaningful connections. She has an underlying fear of being abandoned by someone she trusts, so it's hard to move past the feeling of needing to put the weight of the world on her shoulders.

VI.β–ˆβ–ˆ Alice is always there for anyone who needs help, emotionally or not. She's good at reading other people's emotions and confronting them to help them work through them. However, if someone confronts her about her emotions she completely goes on the defensive. She's got a lot of dark demons in her closet. Her sunny disposition is mainly used as a defence mechanism. It's takes a long while for her to truly open up to someone, and they really have to work to break through her walls.

● P O W E R :

Life-Force Manipulation
"The ability to manipulate the essence of Life, which is present in all living beings throughout the universe."
β–ˆβ–ˆ
  • Alice is able to transfer her life-force into another human being or animal in order to heal sickness or wounds.
  • She can also reverse this process and take another living being's life-force in order to heal herself and make herself stronger. In turn, this makes the other being weak. The more she takes away, the weaker they become.
  • She is physically able to see someone's life-force, in which lets her read people's auras.
  • Though Alice does not have empathic powers, she's much more attuned into what people are feeling.
  • It is said that when this ability is mastered, the user will be able to put all their life force into another being to revive them, in turn killing themselves. They would also be able to absorb all the life-force from another person to kill them, in which also lets the user take their powers for a short period of time.
  • When Alice transfers her Life-force into another being, she get's significantly weaker as it takes time for her body to regenerate what she gave away. During this state, she is prone to migraines, exhaustion, malnutrition and an overall weakened immune system.

● L I K E S :
β–ˆβ–ˆ
[xxCookingxx] ―xxLet's get one thing straight. Alice loves to cook. As a child, her dream was to become the next master chef. However, cooking does not exactly love Alice. Anything she makes will end up being burnt, raw, or absolutely poisonous. If you see her in a kitchen, just run the other way.
[xxCoffeexx] ―xxIf you ever wonder why Alice seems like she's hopped up on caffeine all the time, it's because she is. She has at the very least 5 cups of black coffee in a day. Usually more.
[xxExploringxx] ―xxAlice has a tendency to wander. She enjoys going to new places simply to just look around and explore her settings.
[xxKidsxx] ―xxAlice has about six different families she babysits on the regular. She get's along with kids super well and enjoys their honest and weird behaviour. They're not complicated at all.
[xxArtxx] ―xxAlice draws, paints, crafts, you name it. If you don't see paint on her hair or clothes, you'll just find charcoal staining her fingers. She'll talk your ear off about the French Impressionism.
[xxOutdoorsxx] ―xxShe can't stand being indoors for too long. You'll see her walk or bike literally anywhere.
[xxFactsxx] ―xx No, she's not the most street smart, but Alice is fairly book smart. She loves to learn about new things and often spouts out weird random facts.

xx
● D I S L I K E S :
β–ˆβ–ˆ
[xxDishonestyxx] ―xxBeing the rather honest person she is, she hates it when people lie to her. If she asks you something, she wants the truth. No need to sugar coat things.
[xxShowing her Artxx] ―xxNothing of hers ever seems done. She rarely ever shows anyone her art and she gets extremely irritated if people see it despite her wishes against it.
[xxTechnologyxx] ―xxThis girl is still working on a flip phone basis, strictly for emergency purposes. You'll find her on zero social media accounts. The only reason she even has a laptop is to write essay's on.
[xxNot Being Taken Seriouslyxx] ―xxLet's get this straight: If Alice says she's going to do something, she'll do it. She understands she doesn't exactly come across super serious, but she is when she needs to be. Don't second guess her.
[xxAssholesxx] ―xxAlice doesn't tolerate people being needlessly nasty. She's not one to step away and watch be a jackass towards other people. She'll step in.
[xxStrawberriesxx] ―xxShe is so allergic. She'll break out in hives and her throat will completely close up. It's not pretty.
[xxBeing Snuck Up Onxx] ―xxThe one rule everyone must know is never sneak up on Alice. She will hit someone as she instinctively defends herself.

● S T R E N G T H S :

β–ˆβ–ˆ
[xxFightingxx] ―xxAfter one particularly awful foster home experience, her social worker singed her up for self defence classes. Those eventually turned into sparing classes. She trains at least twice a week.
[xxArtxx] ―xxDespite not believing so, Alice is actually quite a talented artist. She prefers doing portraits and has more drawn pictures of her friends than photographs.
[xxBravexx] ―xxSome say brave, some say stupid. Either way, Alice doesn't back away from a situation.
[xxHelpfulxx] ―xxAlice is willing to help anyone if they need it, even a stranger passing on the street. Even if she's no fond of someone, she can't just leave someone utterly helpless when they need it. She's absolutely an altruistic person.
● F L A W S :

β–ˆβ–ˆ
[xxDefensivexx] ―xxAlice really doesn't let people "in" a lot of the time. They've really got to force their way through there wall and not let her go. It takes work.
[xxSkittishxx] ―xxYou really can't sneak up on Alice. Due to a rough past, any sort of unknown touch causes her to panic and lash out against her will.
[xxRecklessxx] ―xxAlice does stupid things that put herself in danger all the time. Her safety in a situation is never really the first priority in mind.
[xxStubbornxx] ―xxHer stubborn streak is relentless.

● O T H E R :

β–ˆβ–ˆ
[xxLong scar on her backxx] ―xxOne of her old foster father' attacked her and sliced her shoulder with a broken beer bottle. She still get's pain as it didn't heal properly.
[xxSays Thoughts Out loudxx] ―xxAlice tends to say her thoughts out loud without realizing it. It happens when she's pretty distracted.
[xxTouchyxx] ―xxIt's easy to tell when Alice is finally comfortable with a person because she'll always hug them, grab their shoulder, hang off their neck, etc. She's just a very touchy person, but she does understand boundaries.

● H I S T O R Y :

β–ˆβ–ˆ
Alice doesn't have too much background on how her story started. Her birth certificate is basically blank other than the name the hospital in Salem, Oregon where she was born and her birthday, February 2nd. She was told that pretty much a few days after her birth, a couple in Portland displayed interest in adopting her. They fostered her for around eight months while working towards getting full custody, but after having their own miracle baby and trying to make it work with two children, they couldn't balance it and gave her back up to the system.

When she was a young kid, she bounced around from group home to foster family. She never had a strong sense of home in the world. Yeah, you make friends in school and you talk to your foster siblings, but it's hard to keep touch. You just learn to accept that eventually they'll all be gone. It was lonely, but Alice never let it dampen her spirits. She was always a creative kid, never having problems making the quick friend or getting lost in her own imagination. She never had a chance to make lasting connections with people, but she was a social butterfly nonetheless.

The older she got, the more difficult it was to keep up a chipper mood. Any young preteen going through puberty is a miserable, emotional mess. Add that on top of being an already hyper active foster kid, and its a recipe for disaster. She became more shut in. Where she was still trying her hardest to be happy, she really pushed any other person away. She felt like all she needed was herself. When she was ten years old, she actually ran away from home after finding a splintered wood tree-house in the forest. 3 days later a search party found her and her social worker sent her on to a new group home. Still to this day if you look up her name, you'll find a small article in the local paper with her ten-year old face plastered on it reading "MISSING GIRL." It's a fun conversation starter.

When Alice turned twelve, after spending too much time in group homes, her social worker finally found her a nice seeming foster family back in Salem where she was born. They were a childless family in their mid forties. The foster mother was the principal at the local high school and the foster father was a freelance construction worker. Everything was fine for a year. Alice kept to herself mostly and they seemed fine with that.

When she was thirteen, things started changing. The couple fought a lot more, mainly about money issues. Alice made a point to never hang around the house all too much in order to keep out of their hair. Though one day when she had come home from school, she found out that her foster mother had up and left without a word. Her foster father threw a fit. He began drinking during the day, was a little more irritable. She almost told her social worker about it, but assumed everything was fine. He still kept to himself mostly and Alice didn't want to have to be transferred to a worse group or foster home.

That was a mistake.

Eventually he began taking his anger out on the only thing he could- her. At first it was just yelling, asking her where she was all day, calling her awful names. She'd always done chores and everything, but she eventually just did all the house work and more. She'd finally felt happy in Salem. She was making friends, she liked her school. Alice really didn't want to move away. She wouldn't complain. Then things got a little more physical, a push there, a shove here It was when she was almost fourteen when it got seriously dangerous. She'd go to school covering up bruises on her arms where he'd grabbed her too hard, or pushed her to roughly. One morning he'd punched her really hard, and she'd had enough. She knew she couldn't last.

That day at school she called her social worker explaining the situation. She said their would be an investigation and that someone would be by to pick her up at the house later that day so she could grab her things. It seemed safe enough, her foster father was working anyways so Alice assumed he wouldn't be home. When she walked though the door however, he was there to greet her. Turns out someone at child services called him saying that she was going to be removed, and he was more than pissed off about it. He was a drunken mess, yelling incoherently how she was going to leave him too, how she was so worthless. She stupidly yelled back at him. Turning around to walk right out of the house, she heard a crack of glass shattering before he jerked her back and sliced a jagged beer bottle down her shoulder. She quickly turned around and shoved him off as best as she could, and he stumbled back and fell over, knocking head head a little too hard on the hard wood floor. He was already so plastered that it knocked him out cold. Her social worker found them shortly after.

The cut, thankfully, wasn't deep enough that it screwed up her muscles too bad. She had to get it stapled and go to physiotherapy to work on using those muscles again, but that was the end of that story. Her foster father ended up going to jail and they later contacted his estranged wife. She admitted that she left but had no reason to believe he would have ever been violent. Alice doesn't necessarily believe that.

A few months later after spending two months in a group home, they decided to send her to Newport, Oregon to start anew. She lives with her Foster Mother Anna Moreno, a sweet 40 year old lady who works at the local library. The two get along great and Alice has been there for around 3 years. Anna even set her up with self defense classes when she first arrived, and Alice has since moved on to heavier fighting techniques as a hobby. Sparing is simply therapeutic to her. Alice has even begun to plan roots in the form of her two friends, Matthew Clarke and Jasper Willow.]

ALICE GREYSON
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

β€œWhere do you think you’re going?” Questioned Alice’s foster mom, Anna Moreno. Shit

Alice had just about opened the door to leave when in a surprise twist of events, it swung open from the outside to reveal Anna coming into the house. She was earlier than expected. The petite lady, an inch shorter than Alice’s already short 5’2, planted her hands on her hips and gave her a β€˜you’ve been caught look’ from behind her glasses.

Backing back up into the foyer of their tiny bungalow home, Alice opened her mouth to speak, but all that came out was a long winded β€œUh,” Yeah, she’d definitely been caught. The jig was up.

Anna walked into the house and deposited her coat on the rack, still giving her that eyeing look. β€œI was going to a party with Matt and Jasper,” Alice shrugged, relenting. She never could lie. She’d left Anna a note on the kitchen counter with the details of the party, but had planned on slipping out before Anna came home from her night out with friends. Seemed they’d cut it an hour short. Wonder why...

β€œDid Tiffany start drama again? You’d think after last months book club fiasco she would lay off, but no-β€œ Anna was quick to cut her off early in her tangent, stating in her no nonsense tone, β€œYou’re not going to a party.” Alice sighed, turning around dramatically before walking into the kitchen. Grabbing the note off the counter, she held it up as if it were a piece of evidence. β€œI left a note with the directions and everything. I’ll be home before 1:00 and look, I even put the guy’s number’s down for you in case,” she listed off, hoping to help her case.

Anna still had her hands on her hips. She was trying to look strict, but it was hard with her dark curly locks going in every directions and her too big glasses slipping down her nose. β€œI already have Jasper and Matthews number from the last time, Alice,” she huffed as she stepped closer, taking the note from her hand and gazing over it. Looking back up after a minute, she gave her a doubtful look. β€œThe party is outside? Then you’re definitely not going.” Looks like Anna wasn’t going to give up. Well, neither was AlIce.

β€œYou know I know those woods like the back of my hand. It’s a low wildlife area, we aren’t going deep in, and I’ll be with Matt and Jasper. I’ll make sure I’m with at least one of them at all times,” she pleaded, trying her best at giving puppy dog eyes. β€œHey, I’ll even text you every hour with updates, and if I’m not home by 1:00 you can call the cops or something,” she suggested.

Anna stood there staring at her for three minutes, the gears clearly turning in her head as she was deep in thought. Finally, she gave her counter offer. β€œYou’ll call me every hour and let me speak to one of the boys to make sure they’re with you. You’ll also be home by 12:30. Deal?” Alice broke out in a wide grin, wrapping her foster mom in a hug. β€œDeal, you lovely creature!” Anna chuckled as she swatted her away playfully, commenting, β€œjust change your shirt before you leave, there’s paint on it.” Alice looked down at the white t-shirt, for once noticing the baby blue splotch of paint on the shoulder. Oops.

Racing off towards her tiny room, she quickly changed out of her shirt to one that she had previously thrown on her desk chair. It was just a simple pink off the shoulder top. Bouncing out her door, she was ready to completely race out of the house until she took a moment to stop and look in the hall mirror. She’d almost forgotten. Turning around to gaze as her back, the shirt reveled the jagged top of the scar that ran along her shoulder. Taking a second to look at the ugly thing, she took in a sharp breath before ripping out the elastic that previously held her hair up in a pony tail. The long brunette waves trailed down her back, covering the scar.

It’s not as if she was trying to hide it because she hated it. She did hate it, but that wasn’t the point. People have seen it before, but it’s still not fun getting asked all the time about what happened. People tend to look at you funny when you explain someone came after you with a broken beer bottle. It’s surprising how many people reply back asking what you did in order for that to happen, as if Alice had to have provoked someone for something like that to happen. But nope. It was just a crazy β€˜ol foster dad.

Skipping down the rest of the hallway, she slipped behind Anna’s chair where she’d contently settled herself into for the night with a book. Bending down, she kissed her on the cheek, saying a quick, β€œBye!” before turning back to make her way out the door. She got all of three steps before Anna cleared her throat. Turning around slowly, Alice expected the worst. β€œForgetting something?” Anna remarked, holding up Alice’s old flip phone in her hand while still looking down at her book. Alice let out a long whistle. β€œOops, my bad,” she remarked, taking it from Anna. Alice never was attached to her phone. She barley looked at the thing. Technology just wasn’t for her.

Anna gave a low tsk’ing noise as Alice walked away. She had just about opened the door when she’d called out again. β€œDon’t forget your jacket!” Alice quirked a small smile before grabbing her black trench coat on the hook, putting it on as she finally slipped outside.

Whistling as she made her way over to her old car, she looked down at her phone and noticed she was running behind schedule. She was supposed to be at Jasper and Matt’s place, conveniently right beside one another, at 9 pm. It was about five minutes past. It didn’t take her too long to get there, New Port was pretty small. It was a seven-minute drive on a good day. Better hurry up.

After listening to two songs on the radio and one poorly advertised sandwich ad, Alice pulled up outside the familiar houses of her two friends. Jasper had mentioned earlier that Matt would be waiting in his house with him, so she pulled up into his driveway. Leaning over to open her passenger side door, she debated honking the horn but realized that there were probably young kids asleep. She settled on sending Jasper a text:

xxx[To: Jasper]

xxxYour carriage awaits!

At the moment it was the worst week of Jasper's life. It started on Monday. After school in the parking lot. Jasper had walked out of the building to see some guy messing with Alice. One thing Jasper knew was that Alice could handle her own battles. The reason Jasper intervened was because Alice had turned around. The guy went to hit her when she had done this. Before the guy touch Alice, he was smacked into a park car by Jasper’s power. Jasper was just going to fling the guy’s hand back, but he lost control. Being angry didn’t help him control his power any better. The guy didn’t get hurt really and the car was left undamaged. He avoided his parents that night, did his homework, and just went to bed.

Jasper thought everything would be fine on Tuesday. He was wrong. At school everyone talking about what happened to the guy. Someone had even recorded the incident by mistake. The video ended up on YouTube and went viral. It was a weird event. Though, as humans do, they tried to rationalize what happened. On Wednesday, things got worst, but only because Jasper told his mother what happened. His mom knew something was wrong with Jasper. She dragged it out of him. He found out later on his mom was so persistent in knowing why only because she saw the video. His father saw it too, but only his mother was there when Jasper confessed. He even mentioned how something weird happened when he first touched Alice.

His mother told him everything was okay, fed him, and let him go off to bed. Jasper was woken up Thursday morning by his parents. They said they needed to talk to him. Jasper thought they were going to tell him he must of imagined what happened on Monday. They didn’t tell him that. They told him they were demons. Jasper ended up not going to school that day. He was too busy talking to his parents. Jasper pretty much refused to listen to what they were saying. He was even more adamant about not believing them when he was told of The Nocte ac Die Prophecy.

Jasper skipped school on Friday too. He texted Alice and Matt that he had gotten food poisoning Wednesday night. He made sure to tell them he still felt unwell on Thursday and Friday. It was hard for him to process everything his parents had told him. He didn’t want to believe he was a full-blooded demon. He didn’t want to believe the prophecy. Everything his parents told him seemed too crazy to be true. If what they said was true, it just meant Alice was in danger. If the demon world found out she were one of the twins, a death sentence would be put on her. Jasper did wonder deep down which twin Alice was, but he decided he didn’t need to know. His parent's were likely just messing with him. He hoped for that anyways.

On Friday night Matthew had come over for a previously planned sleepover. Jasper acted normally and didn’t tell Matt anything his parents said. He wanted to, but he knew he would just sound crazy. Jasper had a fun night with Matthew. The next day they just played video games. Well, they did pause playing video games to get ready for a bush party. They played video games until 9:00 PM, the time Alice should have been at Jasper’s house. By the time they turned the game off and put it away, Alice still wasn’t there. Jasper didn’t mind she was late. He just excused himself to put fresh food and water out for the stray cats. A few even came out when they heard the food container.

As Jasper walked back inside his house, he felt his phone vibrate. He knew it was Alice. The only people who contacted him were pretty must just his parents, Alice, and Matt. β€œMatt, time to go. Alice is here,” he said as he opened his front door. He let Matt walk out and shut the door behind him. Jasper slid into the backseat of the car and waved to Alice. The drive to the woods wasn’t too bad. Jasper just enjoyed the scenery as Alice drove. Once the car was parked, Jasper quickly got out to stretch his legs.

His curious eyes took in his surroundings. It seemed like others were just getting to the woods too. Jasper took in a slow deep breath. He had to calm himself down a bit. He knew no one knew he smacked that guy into the car with his powers. Hopefully people had stopped talking about it by now. Though, even if some people talked about it, Jasper reminded himself he would be fine. Jasper would just have fun with his friends and enjoy the night. It wasn’t like a group of people were hunting him down because of what he did.

"Just make sure I get texts every hour, and don't forget you have to wake up early that morning. Lacrosse practice". His mother's voice rang from the kitchen complimented by the delicious smell of vegetable stir-fry. Matthew tossed his nike overnight bag on the granite island countertop and moving in behind his mother eyeing the stir-fry. "Will do, mother dearest" he quickly snatched a large piece of red pepper from the pan popping it in his mouth mid-sentence. "Matthew!" His mother's sharp retort was followed by a subtle smack of a wooden spoon right in his arm. "Ow! God mom, watch where you wield that thing" he grumbled grabbing his bag and slinging it over his shoulder. "Hands out of the stir-fry." "It was one pepper!".

"Tell that to your father" She said with a raised eyebrow before her features fell a bit softer. "Oh and Matty don't forget to tell Jasper I said hello, and I hope he's feeling better".

Matthew and Jasper's Friday night consisted of mainly video games, and an unhealthy amount of pizza and chips. The two would've been holed up for the entire weekend if it hadn't been for Alice's invite to a party. Jasper was a little reluctant to go, but Matthew never turned down the opportunity for a party. The social atmosphere, loud music, and loads of reckless teenagers were amusing to him. Alice had agreed to pick the two up around nine, but surprisingly (not to Matt) she was late. However, with the extra time to get ready he wasn't one to complain. Ironically, Matthew was always prepared for a night out. Call it a nervous twitch (or his apparent metrosexuality) but he wasn't one to come underprepared. He gave a small salute to Jasper before disappearing into the bathroom, his mother often joked that he was like a girl when it came to getting ready. He spent time digging through his nike bag, and giving Jasper a fashion show, much to his 'excitement' before finally picking a red and black flannel, over a plain white t-shirt, a pair of dark jeans, and his new grey and black nike roshes he begged out of his mother.

Upon having his 'grand reveal' to Jasper, he was given an eye roll and "You spent thirty minutes in there for that?" on which Matthew replied with a rather bitchy, "Shut up" that caused both the boys to laugh. About another 20 minutes had passed, Matthew had nearly fallen asleep on the couch when he heard Jasper's voice, "Matt, time to go. Alice is here"

"Finally, any later and I would've thought she was dead." He called back.

Matthew hurried out behind Jasper slipping into the front seat of the car, giving Alice a teasing eye roll. "You know Greyson, if you actually were our paid chauffeur I'd fire you in a hot second. Next time give me a heads up so I can go to Pauley's and get a milkshake." Other than Alice and Matthew's fiery yet humorous banter back and forth the car ride was quiet, Jasper busied himself in the scenery and after a while Alice turned up the music to drown out the constant humming of the car. It seemed like hours before they finally pulled up the gravel road to the small house situated in the woods. Matthew could make out the hazy orange flames of the bonfire just around the trees, and the flow of teenagers coming in and out of the house, nearly all with bright red solo cups in their hands.

Matthew was the first to step out of the car, stretching his legs, a lazy smile appearing on his face. It didn't take long for the energy flowing from the chaotic party to get Matthew's blood pumping and he began jogging up to the bonfire turning around to yell at Alice and Jasper who lagged behind. "Hurry up you slowpokes!" He called from behind his shoulder, he had a tendency to use outdated lingo. It was a quirk that Alice had called him out on quite often, his dad had definitely rubbed off on him.

The heat from the fire felt wonderful, considering the temperature had started to drop as the moon rose. Already he had to push through a strew of sweaty teenage bodies to get to a spot that wasn't taken up by the fire. There were a few 'hellos' and whistles from fellow teammates and friends, which he returned with friendly smiles, as Matthew weaved his way through the crowd and found a vacant log near the fire that would be big enough for the three of them. For the time being he was reluctant to grab a cup of alcohol. He wasn't to keen on making any bad decisions just yet.

ALICE GREYSON
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Alice gave an even larger, more dramatic eye roll as she gave a side glance to Matt. "If I was your paid chauffeur I would have quit after the second time you dropped some sort of liquid beverage in my car," she commented back teasingly. "The only reason I even let you into my car now is out of the kindness of my own, tender loving heart," she grinned wide as she pulled out of the driveway, finally making their way to the party.

Alice turned up the music on the radio, more or less so she could ignore the sometimes disconcerting sounds her old car made. It wasn't anything bad enough that she would fear her car spontaneously combusting or anything, it just sounded like lots of money to fix. It was better to live in blissful ignorance for as long as she could. Tapping her fingers on the steering wheel rhythmically along to the tune on the radio, eventually they pulled up around where the party was situated.

It was her friend Jessica's parent's tiny cabin. It was in the woods, fairly spread apart from any other property. From what she heard her parent's barley ever used it. They were out of town, so Jess took the opportunity. She just decided to hold it outside as to not break anything on the inside. It was a smart move.

Alice had only gotten the invite from Jess about a week ago. They weren't super close by any means, more or less just friends in English class who always partnered together for projects. Jess had made sure to tell Alice to invite Matt and Jasper to tag along as well. She had an inkling that the petite strawberry blonde haired girl had a crush on one of them judging by her tendency to randomly pop up during lunch at school and go all red in the face whenever she made eye contact with either of them. Maybe Jess even had a crush on both.

Climbing out of her car, Alice left her coat on her seat. She could see the smoke from the presumed bonfire from where the party noise came from and decided that if she got cold enough, she would come back here and get it. Twirling her keys in her hand once after locking the doors, she turned towards her friends and saw Matt already scampering along. "Watch out, you may break a hip, old sport!" She hollered back to him, laughing as she did.

Glancing over at the tall boy to her right, she gave Jasper a reassuring smile. She could see the nervous look on his face. Grabbing his hand, she gave it a light squeeze as she stated, "Hey, It'll be fine. Chances are someone's already drunkenly climbed a tree and fell or walked into the fire. They'll be talking about that more than anything else." Alice could easily tell where his apprehension was coming from. Matt and Alice where the only one's who actually knew the truth of the mysterious reason the jackass hit the car as he did.

Alice had seen the video. It was peculiar, alright. One second the dude Austin went to grab Alice rather aggressively from behind after she'd turned away, and the next his back smacked hard into the car parked behind him. Thankfully, the camera was filmed from a little ways away on an obviously less than par cellphone camera. It could be brushed off as a trick of the eye. Alice was more pissed than anything about the whole Austin being a dick by really not taking rejection well and someone filming the fight he'd initiated. Yeah, it was getting a little heated and loud before in the parking lot between them, but why would someone care to film that? Probably waiting for punches to be thrown. They'd essentially gotten what the wanted.

While Jasper hadn't been at school the days after the fact, understandably so, Alice had tried her best to dissuade any rumours from coming up. Some people thought she had pushed him too hard, or that something really weird like magic had occurred. She'd made sure the story spread around that someone had appeared from behind her own car and shoved him away, and ran off before any confrontation happened. She just 'conveniently' couldn't remember the face of the person who it was, or why he couldn't be seen in the video. 'Must be a trick of the light', she'd say.

Still holding Jasper hand, she skipped along the path after Matt, dragging him along with her. "Now come on, let's go laugh at our drunk classmates!"

As soon as they entered the space in which people crowded around, Alice let go and gave various waves and greeting's to the friends she saw. She even ran up and gave Jess a hug, being sure to thank her again for the invite and let her know the boys came. Slipping easily between people, Alice brightly smiled at Matt as she bent down behind him to wrap her arms around the sitting boy shoulders, resting her chin on top of his head. "Anna's going to call every hour and she wants to speak to either one of you to know all is well," Alice told both her friends as her hazel eyes scanned the crowd around them, people watching. "So I swear, if either one of you get incoherently drunk and say something dumb to her, I'll kick your-"

Alice's rambling comment trailed off as she spotted a face she didn't expect to see. "Oh no," she groaned, ducking behind Matt before she had time to make eye contact with Austin. The boy had been absent at school as long as Jasper. Dang, he looked a little beat up. She didn't want to talk to him. He's the one person who would know for sure no one had pushed him. She had no idea what he thought of the whole situation. Thankfully, it was a pretty busy party. More than a hundred people. They could avoid him. Hopefully.

Jasper watched as Matthew jogged off to the bonfire. Personally, Jasper was in no rush to join the party. He stayed where he was standing as he waited for Alice. A chuckle escaped his lips as Matt yelled at them, and again when Alice yelled back. Jasper returned Alice’s smile with a small one. He let out a small breath as Alice spoke to him. Jasper nodded in reply and gave Alice’s hand a squeeze back. He kept up with her easily as she skipped after Matt.

He made sure to avoid eye contact with the people Alice greeted. The last thing he wanted was to end up stuck in a conversation because of something as simple as eye contact. Also, Jasper always got a tiny bit annoyed when Matt and Alice decided to talk to other people. In his mind, they didn’t need any other friends. That was just his possessive nature talking though. Jasper ignored the feelings he felt and pushed them down. It wasn’t like he spent any less time with them because of these other friends.

Now Jasper was of course friendly with others, but he didn’t talk to them much. He didn’t even actively seek them out to spend time with them. The only reason he would spend time with someone he didn’t consider a friend, would be for affection. He didn’t use these people though. Jasper made his intentions clear. Jasper hadn’t made one of those types of relationships in a while. His old ones had stopped because the people got in relationships, moved, and or stopped talking to Jasper. They normally stopped talking to him because they finally realized Jasper was serious about not wanting a relationship.

Love was something Jasper did not believe in, so why would he get into a romantic relationship? Love just seemed like a word people used without much thought. Why would he want to waste his time and invest his feelings into someone who may not truly love him? Jasper was pulled out of his thoughts when Alice spoke. She had bent over to wrap her arms around Matt. Jasper squatted in front of them. He wanted to face Alice as she spoke. A mischievous grin graced his face. Anna would call every hour to make sure they were okay?

Jasper debated if he should mess with Alice by telling her he planned on telling Anna they were at a rave with drugs and alcohol. He could tell her he planned on getting so wasted that he’d have to be carried home too. Though, Jasper didn’t get to mess with Alice. He noticed she stopped talking before finishing her sentence. He turned his head as he heard her say: β€œOh no”. He understood why she said it when he saw Austin.

Anger hit Jasper like a truck going 100 mph. His lips pressed together and formed a thin line. He had to make himself take a deep breath to try to calm down. He felt like he normally did before he snapped. Though, Jasper knew he shouldn’t snap at this party. He hadn’t snapped since middle school. There was this guy who bullied his science partner, Oliver. They were partnered for a big project. The project was one that was due in two month from when assigned.

After spending so much time with someone for a project, you get to know the person. Jasper found out about the bullying and did his best to try to protect Oliver. Though, one day Jasper missed school. The bully had beaten up Oliver that day. Jasper snapped as he saw the bully laughing about it with his friends the next day. Jasper slammed the bully into some lockers and proceeded to beat him to a pulp. It took about three people to pull Jasper off of the kid. Oddly enough, Jasper didn’t get in trouble. He knew now he didn’t get in trouble because his mother had the power of persuasion.

Jasper took another deep breath and looked at his friends. He actually looked anger, like he was ready to kill someone. He cleared his throat and gave them a forced smile. β€œAlice, please do not go anywhere without Matt or me...because if I see Austin messing with you again...I may just throw him into the bonfire,” he said in a serious tone. He let out a small harsh laugh. He hoped the laugh eased the tension of his words. Hopefully it added the effect that Jasper was joking too, but Jasper wasn’t sure himself if he was joking or not.

He pulled out his flask out from the inside pocket of his black leather jacket. He opened it and took a sip. He had filled it with cinnamon whiskey earlier that day. Jasper never liked the taste of beer, but he did love cinnamon whiskey. He decided a bit of drinking might help him relax. Also, he wouldn’t really get drunk as he had a high tolerance. After a few more sips, he returned the flask to his pocket. Jasper hadn’t really dressed up for the party. He could care less what anyone thought of his outfit. Besides the jacket, he wore a fitted grey t-shirt, tapered black sweats, and black running shoes. He was more ready for the gym than a party.

Matthew smiled as he felt Alice's arms wrap around his shoulders and her head rest on top of his own. "Anna's going to call every hour and she wants to speak to either one of you to know all is well," Matthew immediately snickered at the thought. Matt had seen his fair share of angry Anna, and he'd rather not again. Even if the thought of teasing Alice was so entirely tempting. "So I swear, if either one of you get incoherently drunk and say something dumb to her, I'll kick your-"

Matthew opened his mouth to let out a witty remark when he noticed Alice's sudden change in expression and followed her eyes to none other than Austin. His face immediately furrowed in a frown as he surveyed the boy who looked as if he had been in a scuff not long before the party. Matthew had tried milking the entire story out of the both of them, but they refused to talk. Alice always became uncomfortable around the topic, and Jasper turned stone cold. Obviously, the nagging feeling of not having the entire story bothered him, but he felt as if his constant banter wouldn't even break either of them. Still he had heard the rumors that surfaced after the incident, and everything seemed a little far fetched for his liking.

β€œAlice, please do not go anywhere without Matt or me...because if I see Austin messing with you again...I may just throw him into the bonfire,” Matt turned his eyes to Jasper noting the obvious strain of anger and tension across his face. His curt laugh didn't do much to ease his feelings. "Whoa there cowboy, if you wanted to get scrappy you should've told me. Wouldn't have worn my new shoes..." Matthew mumbled the last bit under his breath. While it seemed entirely vain of him it was quite true, but at the same time it served as a mood lightener.

The Flask. Of course Jasper still had that thing, even after Matthew's constant comments about the tacky thrift piece. However, Jasper had a knack for finding things with, character? "You know, if that thing wasn't used for smuggling alcohol I would've destroyed it by now, but just to piss Alice off, hand it over". He snatched the flask out of Jasper's hand and took a lengthy drink of the whiskey before tossing it back to Jasper. He lifted his head up to wiggle his eyebrows at Alice, "Mhm, looks like somebody is designated driver again".

A sudden wave of nervousness fell over Matthew in a matter of seconds, and he felt the weight of eyes on him. He turned away from Alice and Jasper his eyes scanning the crowd, before making eye contact with a group of teenagers. The looked very out of place. Well, appearance wise they fit in quite nicely, but Matthew almost felt a strange vibe from them. Not to mention they were all currently looking at Alice, Jasper, and himself quite intentionally. "3 o'clock, have you two seen them here before?" It was quite odd for Matthew to be unfamiliar with anyone in their town, because he practically socialized with everyone.

He took a moment to survey them, the one in the middle first. She seemed like the most authoritative role out of the three. Very pretty, but with a gaze that could probably smite you where you stand. His eyes moved then to the small freckle-faced redhead, Matthew's eyes softened. He'd have to strike a conversation with her, he had a feeling she wasn't as innocent as she seemed. Finally, Matthew's eyes gazed at the tall drink of water that towered over the other two. There was a brief moment of eye contact, and Matthew managed to slide in a lazy smile at the boy.

He sharply turned back to Jasper and giddy smile on his face, "Alright, I might need another drink".

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ALICE GREYSON
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Standing up from her crouched position behind Matt, she slipped over to the clearly aggravated Jasper. She preferred not to see her best friends angry, especially to the point in which they were threatening to burn someone and nearly meaning it. Resting her hand on his arm, she tried to lighten the mood by saying teasingly, "I'm not sure you'd get to him before I threw him into the fire first," smiling with a faux sly look. She bumped her shoulder his (well, bumped her shoulder into his arm because he was so dang tall) adding, "he probably won't even say anything. If there's on thing I've learned from this, that boy is a coward."

In honestly, the only reason Alice hadn't confronted Austin yet about the situation was because of Jasper. She wanted nothing more in the world than to kick the dude's ass for trying to hit her when she wasn't looking, but she couldn't draw any more attention to the situation. Of course, if Austin made the first move, Alice wouldn't hold back. It's not like she's someone who goes looking for a fight or anything, but she has no reservations of kicking some guy down who has no respect for boundaries.

Sitting down on the log beside Matt, she mumbled a short "yeah, yeah," in reply to his designated driver comment. She didn't mind much. She never really drank, or at least never drank to the point of getting drunk. Alice gets nervous with the idea that her reflexes might not be as sharp as she likes them to be. "At least I don't have to drink out of that flask," she quirked a smile, moving her gaze away from Austen to give a playful side glance at Jasper. Maybe she would custom paint a flask for him for Christmas. Or maybe she would hide that owl flask from him until he was forced to buy a new one. Who knew.

"Typical Matthew Clarke logic; piss off the girl who's your safest ride home," she smirked, will a sarcastic roll of her eyes. Of course, no matter how much he did end up pissing her off, she knew in all seriousness she'd never abandon him at a party drunk. Matt knew that very well, as did Jasper. Still, that doesn't mean she couldn't throw that little threat out there.

Tightening up her pony tail, she turned her head in the direction of the group of teens Matt commented about. When her eyes landed on them, it seems their gaze had already been on the three of them before. Eery. "They're like the breakfast club if they killed two of their own members," Alice mumbled, more to herself than to her friends. They all stood out like a sore thumb. Alice had never seen them before, and if Matt was asking who they were, then they definitely had to be new. They could just be Jess's out of town friends, but something just seemed weird, especially when they were just staring at them.

Alice was quick to note whose eyes Matt wandered too, after noticing the look on his face. Here we go. Alice gave a knowing glance and a sly smile before picking up Matt's hand. She moved it side to side in a floppy wave at the group, saying in a stage whisper to Matt, "say hi!"

Suddenly, Pancake turned around, his eyes catching sight of Mel and her friends. The hazel-eyed brunette kept a cool head, snatching up another bottle of beer that she probably wasn't going to finish. Hey, standing idle while staring at a group of three seemingly random seventeen-year-olds was suspicious. Of course, the trio were most likely already gossiping about the strangeness of Mel, Teddy, and Lolly, but the demons still had an act to keep up.

"Careful, they caught us," Mel furtively muttered to Teddy and Eloise, sneaking a second beer bottle to her lips to hide the fact that she was speaking, stealing a sip as she did so. She swallowed the beer, turning her gaze away slightly from the group of three who were probably trying to draw a conclusion about Melanie and her friends. "They know that we're not from around here."

Melanie noticed Pancake flash a lazy smile to Teddy, the only male in the group of demons clearing catching his attention. The girl in the trio noticed as well, lifting Pancake's hand. She moved it side to side, imitating a wave to Mel and her friends.

Melanie tilted the beer bottle back before removing it from her lips, swallowing the liquid. "Bingo," she said. "We're in. Teddy, you're eyeing Panca - er, shortie - over there, and he's interested in you. Perfect way to introduce ourselves to those three." Mel nodded her head slightly to Eloise. "Lolly and I can just be two friends trying to get you to hook up with someone. Of course, in reality, you wouldn't need help with that, but we have an opportunity here."

Melanie gestured to Lolly before pushing Teddy towards the group by his shoulders. The brunette plastered a charming smile on her face, as genuine as she could get it.

"Hey!" she greeted, flashing a smile at the three humans. "I'm sure you probably haven't seen us around here before. I'm Melanie, but everyone just calls me Mel. The redhead over here is Eloise, or Lolly for short, and the lone male is Teddy. We saw you from the other side of the bonfire," Mel gestured to where she, Eloise, and Teddy had been standing just moments before, "and we just wanted to say hi. We've just recently moved to Newport, so we don't really know anybody here." Okay, maybe the first plan was going to waste. Mel could still try to get Teddy Bear and Pancake together though.

Mel swung an arm around Teddy's shoulders, making the movement look natural. She smirked playfully in a friendly manner. "I'm sure Teddy Bear here," Melanie squeezed her friend's shoulder, "is getting tired of hanging around girls all the time. Gives him a bad rep." She pushed Teddy forward gently - intentionally in the direction of Pancake. "You guys'll make him feel loved, I can tell that already."

This may be a bit much for a first meeting, but Mel knew how to be easygoing enough. Besides, she, Teddy, and Eloise could not return to the demon capitol empty-handed.

Mel turned to the brunette girl - her name was Alice, if she overheard correctly. Of course, Mel wasn't exactly supposed to know that. She smiled, sticking her hand out. "Afraid I didn't catch your name."

That handshake was going to be the most life-changing thing Mel was ever going to do.

His gaze went to Matt when he heard the comments about his shoes. It was amusing of how Matt always seemed to care about how he looked. Jasper was pretty much the opposite. He could care less. It wasn’t like he wanted to impress anyone. Besides, he only needed Matt and Alice. Jasper stood up from his position and sat on the log next to Matt. He stretched his legs out.

He ignored Matt’s comment about his flask. He placed it back into his pocket when Matt finished taking a drink. Jasper had found the flask a few years ago at a yard sale. It was brand new and the owner was just selling it for a few bucks and some change. Jasper liked it enough as it was quirky.

His gaze moved to Alice when she made an empty threat to Matt. He knew she wasn’t serious. If Alice were ever serious about ditching Matt, Jasper would not have it. He would stay to keep Matt safe. They would find a way home one way or another. Though, if Alice ever did that, it would be a blow to their friendship. Jasper had known Matt since he was a child.

Jasper didn’t try to make it a secret when he looked at the trio Matt was talking about. He knew they didn’t go to the high school. He never saw them before. There was a pretty boy, freckled face girl, and another female. He looked away from them when he noticed Alice forcing Matt to wave to the trio. He rolled his eyes. His jealously woke up inside of him. He didn’t want his friends to make any other friends. Though, they were just some strangers, so maybe it wouldn’t lead anywhere.

Matt seem to have an interest in the pretty boy, but maybe that wouldn’t mater. Jasper knew if Matt had an interest for the boy, he would just need to be there for support. The pretty boy seemed like the playboy type, but Jasper wouldn’t assume for the moment. His eyes watched as the trio made there way over. He almost went to take another sip from his flask, but resisted.

He listened while the female introduced everyone in her group. Jasper enjoyed the name Teddy Bear for the pretty boy. Also, he was fine with calling the girls by their nicknames. When Mel held her hand out for Alice to shake, Jasper decided to intercept. He got a bit jealous. He wasn’t exactly happy the trio had made their way over anyways. Jasper stood up and shook her hand firmly, but gently at the same time. He gave her a small genuine smile.

β€œHello Mel, her name is Alice. My name is Jasper, and the boy on the log goes by Matt ,” he said. He let go of her hand and crossed her arms. Jasper then looked at Teddy Bear. He smirked at him. β€œHello Teddy Bear, my friend Matt would like to get to know you…if you know what I mean ,” he said playfully. Jasper then looked at Matt and gave him a wink. He knew Matt may plan his death very soon, but Jasper decided to take the risk. He sat back on the log next to Matt. He turned his head to look at him, a stupid smile on his face.

β€œSo Matt, how about you get up and talk to Teddy Bear? He is cute enough,” he said with a smirk. He glanced at Lolly and smiled at her. He didn’t want to ignore anyone in the group. β€œNice freckles,” he commented. It wasn’t the best first impression, but Jasper was more interested in how Matt and Teddy Bear would interact.

xxxMaybe the three of them staring at the trio wasn't the best idea for subtly. Teddy could feel the eyes of the better looking guy in the group eying him. Not like he blamed, he is a work of art, outwardly. Inside is a whole other story. Cute one's friend's attempt of waving a his limp hand at their group didn't go unnoticed. Teddy held his beer cup to his mouth trying to hide a laugh. Poor guy, embarrassing for him, but comical for Teddy.

xxxThe Detective, one of his many nicknames for Mel, kept talking about the obvious. How they knew they weren't from here and caught them staring. I mean... duh. This town is so small. Three teenagers suddenly appearing out of nowhere is bound to draw attention. "Did you expect something else? We're probably the best thing they've seen in a while." When she mentioned hooking Teddy up with who she called 'Pancake,' he was call ears.

xxx"I guess my good looks came in handy." He said very arrogantly, with a wink. "Try not to be too embarrassing. I do the seducing, you do the distracting."

xxxThe trio made walked to the other one. Well, Teddy was busy being pushed by Melanie towards the group. However, he would take that any day over Melanie calling him 'Teddy Bear.' His eyes turned narrow at first, but then he put on a friendly expression. He'll get her back for that later. Mel pushing him yet again, this time towards Cute One (whose name he xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxiiixxxxxneeds to get). Thankfully, he didn't run into him. The clichΓ© 'falling on top xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxixxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxixxx of each other was not his style. Although, Teddy wouldn't mind the guy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxixxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxunderneath him. ;)

Not-as-cute-one didn't seem to pleased with Teddy's group's arrival. When he deliberately cut off Melanie's handshake with cute girl, Teddy would've given the guy glare. Mel was being her nice self so the jerk had no reason to crap like that. The only sign of friendliness was when his eyes gleamed when Mel called Teddy a 'teddy bear.' Stupid prick enjoying this.

His eyes moved to the boy who caught them in the first place. He heard not-as-cute-one, now known as Jasper, say the girl's name is Alice and the other boy was Matt. He sampled the name in his head. Matt was a fine name. Matthew, however, sounded sexy as hell. Theodore sounded like an eighty-year-old man. The kid is fortunate to have a decent name.

Teddy squatted down, getting on Matt's level since he was sitting on a log. He wouldn't sit on the ground, though, no reason to get his pants dirty. "Hey, I'm Teddy." He tried to keep his smile as charming as possible. Listening to Jasper go on about how Matthew should talk to him was interesting. Teddy would've guessed they'd be overprotective, not pushing them together. Alice and Jasper are growing on him. "So Matthew," specifically enunciating his first name, hoping to draw a reaction from the guy, "Do you know why they call me, Teddy?" Teddy leaned into Matthew, not touching him, but enough so he could whisper something in his ear. "Because I make bedtime fun." Teddy let the innuendo hang in the air, pulling back waiting for Matthew's reaction. Hopefully, he took the bait. An innocent smile made it's way onto Teddy's face. What a fun game.

Eloise Huxley
Hex: #7c8db2

Before Eloise had any argument to make, the three of them were greeting the other trio. It was strange to find such a well matched group of kids just like them. Eloise didn't make much note of it though. Mel was already introducing her and Teddy to the others. Eloise let her head lazily nod in the direction of the others as Mel spoke. Her wild orange hair flopped around effortlessly, making her look more laid back than she really was. That was the thing about Lolly's appearance, she always seemed easy going and ready to go with the flow. But that wasn't her, she was always forming some kind of plan in my mind.

Her dark brown eyes watched as the lanky lad, Jasper, intercepted Mel's handshake. Finding a bad taste in her mouth, Lolly narrowed her eyes and searched for a reaction from Teddy or Mel. Eloise resisted the temptation to roll her eyes before letting out a soft sigh of annoyance.

It was then that Jasper spoke to Eloise directly. The petite girl looked up at him with a furrowed brow. How unoriginal.

If Eloise had a dollar for every time someone commented on her freckles before anything else, she'd be on her way to rich. Plus, Lolly didn't really allow anyone but Teddy to call her anything but Eloise or Lolly. It was time to nip this one in the bud.

"Yeah, thanks," she said unenthusiastically. Lolly gave Jasper another look over. "Nice height," she said sarcastically, crossing her arms across her shoulder. Catching herself, Eloise stopped. It was time to play nice. There was no sense in trying to give this young demon a lesson. He would receive plenty of talks once he was integrated into their society and started schooling. Eloise caught sight of the decorative flask and narrowed her eyes at the sight. Why?

"What's with the flask?" she asked casually, trying to change the subject.

"They're like the breakfast club if they killed two of their own members,". Matt let out a curt laugh at Alice's small comment, shaking his head slightly. However he had to admit, they did have their own little vibe going on. Before he could add on to the conversation he felt Alice grab his wrist and awkwardly wave at the group. He quickly tried to tug his wrist away, the tips of his ears turning a light pink. When he finally managed to break free of her death grip he shot her a small glare. "What the hell Alice you- Oh god... They're coming over here. We will discuss this later". He barely time to plaster a lazy smile on his face before the brunette's confident greeting cut the silence.

"I'm Melanie, but everyone just calls me Mel. The redhead over here is Eloise, or Lolly for short, and the lone male is Teddy. We saw you from the other side of the bonfire,". Mel, Lolly, and Teddy. What an interesting group of names. From her tone the brunette, or Mel, definitely seemed to be somewhat of a leader within the trio. She seemed nice enough, reminded him a lot of Alice, which at the moment he couldn't decipher that as a good or bad thing. Lolly, presented more of a laid-back stature but Matthew couldn't help but want to know more about her. Even though they had just met he almost felt as if out of the three he knew her the least. Of course that left, the tall drink of water, or rather Teddy. Now that Matthew had a clear view of him, he couldn't help but admire the jawline that was probably crafted by God himself, (Matt would later on look back at the ironic side of this observation), and light emerald eyes that - Matthew blinked several times. He clearly wasn't used to being so drawn into someone before, it was almost as if there was something else, something underlying but he shook it off as mere attraction.

Thankfully Mel brought him back from the dreamboat and back to reality. Matthew wasn't sure if he was sad or not, "and we just wanted to say hi. We've just recently moved to Newport, so we don't really know anybody here." That was strange. Rarely anyone ever moved to Newport, there wasn't anything here and the timing just seemed so strange. Before he had time to even come up with anymore conclusions Mel discreetly pushed Teddy in his direction, he almost wouldn't have noticed it if he wasn't so interested in Teddy's presence. It was a bit odd, but again Matthew wasn't complaining.

What was flirting with a boy, or anyone for that matter if Jasper didn't try to mortify you. Matthew wasn't paying much attention to Jasper's greeting, until his best friend decided to tease him. "Hello Teddy Bear, my friend Matt would like to get to know you… if you know what I mean ,". Followed by a smartass wink which Matthew returned with a glare. Damnit Jasper, I am so getting you back for this. This hadn't been the first time Willow had interjected into a conversation just to screw with Matt. He opened his mouth to comment back, but Jasper unfortunately wasn't done."So Matt, how about you get up and talk to Teddy Bear? He is cute enough,". Oh, this meant certain death for Jasper. There was no way he was getting off easy, Alice would have to hold him back.

Matthew was still ready to fire back at Jasper, but instead was interrupted by none other than Theodore himself. "Hey, I'm Teddy." Matt quickly closed his mouth so he wouldn't look like a fish out of water. "Matthew... that's uhm my name", oh god, could this possibly get any worse. Alice would give him so much shit about this later. Matthew wasn't used to being thrown on his toes, much less completely flustered by someone. "So Matthew," Teddy drew out the pronunciation of his name, making his cheeks flush a light rose color. He felt like a deer trapped in headlights. "Do you know why they call me, Teddy?" Matthew stayed still frozen, as Teddy leaned in very close to his ear so much so that Matthew could feel his breath on his neck. He suddenly wished that Jasper had brought a much, much stronger alcohol. "Because I make bedtime fun." Matthew's eyes widened slightly. Very, very forward. Dear god, help me, forgive me, he said quietly in his mind. Matthew picked up that Teddy definitely did this, a lot, which should have bothered him but the boy was good at what he did. So why couldn't Matthew just give in, just once? It couldn't hurt right. "Is that so?" Matthew said quietly, gathering himself back from the puddle that Teddy had left him. The corner of his mouth tugged up in almost a devilish smile, "I'll believe it when I see it".

Two could play at that game.

Well, the handshake would've been the most life-changing thing Mel was ever going to do, if it wasn't intercepted by a little someone named Draco. Okay, fine, Draco wasn't little, and his name wasn't Draco. But Mel needed her fun.

Draco shook Mel's hand, giving her a small genuine smile. Melanie quirked her eyebrow up just the slightest bit for a split second, but didn't say anything. Just because Draco was being a prime example of bad manners didn't mean Mel had to be to. But Draco clearly intercepted the handshake because he was jealous - he also didn't like it when Mel, Lolly, and Teddy came over, but evidently, he was trying to hide the fact. But his jealousy clearly stated that he felt a sense of possession over his loved ones or those he's loyal to - you didn't have to be Mel to figure that out. But hey, at least Draco was the lost demon - that was a start.

"Hello Mel," Draco greeted. "Her name is Alice." Immediately, that put Melanie off. It could've just been her, but Draco's sense of possession over this Alice was a bit too much. A "normal person" didn't intercept a handshake for their friend and introduce them to the newcomers. A "normal person" would've let their friend do the handshake procedure themselves.

Then again, Draco was far from a normal person. He was the lost demon.

"My name is Jasper," Draco, who was now affirmed to be Jasper, continued. Damn. Although Mel knew it was logically improbable for a mother to name their son Draco, she still hoped. "And the boy on the log goes by Matt." Jasper let go of Mel's hand and crossed his arms, turning to face Teddy. He smirked at him as Mel frowned slightly. She wasn't the biggest fan of Mr. Lost Demon. Sure, she wasn't going to judge him, despite his obvious knitting habit (look at his clothes! And his hands), or his addiction to lip balm (call her crazy, but Mel was an observer; despite her inability to feel a sexual attraction to anyone she wasn't extremely close with, she was going to notice the state of one's lips). Although, his one-sided dislike for smokers had to put Mel off a little. Sure, she wasn't a smoker (yet), but she had almost a natural...attraction to cigarettes.

β€œHello Teddy Bear, my friend Matt would like to get to know you…if you know what I mean," Jasper commented playfully, flashing Matt a wink.

He dared to call him Teddy Bear, Mel thought to herself, narrowing her eyes slightly; not enough to be noticeable. The only people who could even think about calling Teddy "Teddy Bear" were Lolly and Mel, plain and simple.

"So Matt, how about you get up and talk to Teddy Bear? He is cute enough," Jasper smirked. Damn, upfront. He glanced at Lolly and smiled at her. Mel felt something coming up - it was probably going to result in Lolly roasting the tall brunette. β€œNice freckles,” he commented. Eloise furrowed a brow.

"Yeah, thanks," she said in an unenthusiastic manner. Lolly scanned Jasper with her dark eyes. "Nice height," she retorted sardonically. Mel mouthed "be nice and bitch slap him later", but Eloise got the memo. She quickly changed the subject. "What's with the flask?" Melanie half-smiled, and half-grinned at her from where Jasper couldn't see before turning her attention to Matt and Teddy.

"Hey, I'm Teddy," Teddy introduced himself with a charming smile. It clearly had an effect as Matt stammered out a, "Matthew... that's um my name".

"So, Matthew," Teddy's voice took on the infamous seductive lilt of his. "Do you know why they call me, Teddy?" Teddy leaned in, whispering his response into Matt's ear, a response Mel hadn't managed to catch. But it was probably one of Teddy's quips about the bed. Matt's eyes had widened, and he had that "oh, dear God" look on his face. But he composed himself, smirking devilishly as he murmured a response to Teddy's advances.

Mel leaned over to Lolly. "The sexual tension is so strong," she murmured quietly enough so that no one else could here, "But we're straying off the path. We still have a goal here."

ALICE GREYSON
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Alice chuckled lowly to herself. From the way things were going now, she was sure they would talk about it very later. She assumed his attention would mostly be on the other boy for the nightβ€” maybe even longer. Hell, if she was lucky Matt might forget about it all together.

Alice sat back as the group introduced themselves. They seemed nice enough, but something in Mel’s smile seemed the teeniest bit false in nature. No biggie, some people just weren’t for interaction. It reminded her slightly of a retail worker who was on their last leg of greeting people at the door but was still trying their best. What really caught Alice’s attention however was their story. Yeah, barley anyone moved to New Port, but she had only three years ago so she knew that it wasn’t outlandish. It was the fact that these three friends, who didn’t look related and seemed more friendly than family anyways, all moved together at the same time. They had to have been high school age.

Something just felt a little weird about it all. Maybe she was over thinking it, maybe not.

Snapping out of her head space, she just noticed in time that the girl Mel had offered her hand in greeting. Alice grinned, standing up from the log in order to greet her back, but before she could say anything Jasper cut her off. Here we go again..

Alice was used to this side of Jasper. His jealous streak wasn’t exactly something he tried to be discreet about. Didn’t mean it didn’t irk her. He had nothing to even worry about! Before Alice had met Matt or Jasper, she hadn’t even had friends she was close too. Yeah she socialized and bounced around circles, but she moved all the time and never kept in contact with anyone. If Jasper didn’t know he was sure as hell stuck with her for the rest of his life no matter what, she was afraid he’d never learn.

Alice moved to stand on the log to give her short stature a couple of extra inches, before reaching over to pinch Jasper’s cheek hard like a grandmother with a vengeance. β€œAwe, I love him, but Jasper still has yet to learn the art of manners,” she stated towards the other group. She wasn’t going to apologize on Jasper’s behalf however, no matter how much she wanted to. That was his job and it meant nothing coming from her.

Alice liked the other three, though. She still thought something was off, but none the less, she liked them. Especially Lolly for her retort. She didn't even hold back her laugh from that one.

Letting go of his cheek, she turned her attention of to Matt and the boy named Teddy to witness Matt’s (hopefully not bad) flirting. What she heard made her mouth gape open in a small β€˜O’ shape. Having no control over the thought in her head travelling out of her mouth, she said with zero control and rather blatantly, β€œthey aren’t going to do it on the log right here, are they?”

After only a second of realizing what she had just said, her phone rang an annoying little chime that she still had no idea how to change. Letting out an awkward laugh, she exclaimed, β€œsaved by the bell!”, before hopping of the log and scurrying away beside a nearby tree.

Flipping her phone open, Anna’s voice rang through. β€œDid you guys get there safe? Are you alright?” Anna asked, curiosity and slight concern lacing her tone. Alice coughed dramatically, saying in-between clearly false fits, β€œHit tree,” cough. β€œSee the light,” cough. β€œElvis? Is that you?” She could almost imagine the eye roll Anna was giving as she stated β€œHaha,” with dripping sarcasm. Alice grinned as her eyes wandered around the crowd, landing on Austin once more distractingly. β€œYeah, we’re all good here. Just regular teenage antics,” she clarified, before freezing on the spot as Austin’s gaze turned from his friend and onto her. Shit on a stick. Alice quickly ducked away, hoping that if she went back to her group he wouldn’t make his way over there if he saw there were others there he didn’t know. β€œAlright, well let me speak to Matt or Jasper for a second like the deal”. Alice didn’t want to break up Matt’s little flirting game just to tell her foster mom everything was good, so she shoved the phone Jaspers way, saying β€œIt’s Anna.”

Turning towards Mel and Lolly, not wanting to break up the little eye tango Teddy and Matt had going on, Alice grinned and declared, β€œLet’s try this again. Hi, I’m Alice, it's nice to meet you guys.” Sticking out her hand, she shook Lolly’s first before moving over to Mel to accept the handshake Jasper had blocked before. However, something unexpected happened as soon as she made contact.

Dropping her grip from the girl’s hand, a feeling of being burned from the inside coursed through her, the pain mainly concentrated in her hand. Alice hissed loudly in pain and jerked back in reaction. Her reflexes were so off that as soon as her heels hit the back of the log, she stumbled backwards over it and landed on the ground. God, she felt like she had been hit by a god damn truck. After about thirty seconds, the pain throughout her body started to fade from blinding heat to more of an intense shimmer of pins and needles.

Still lying on the ground, Alice groaned out, β€œdid God just smite me?”

His eyes scanned the crowd of partygoers. Jasper did have the urge to turn his head when Teddy leaned in to whisper to Matt. He resisted. Instead Jasper shifted his position slightly and turned his head ever so slightly. Jasper wanted to see Matthew’s reaction when Teddy stopped whispering. Jasper really wanted to know what Teddy Bear said, but he could always ask Matt later. His teeth dug gently into his bottom lip when he saw Matt’s eyes widen. Softly, he cleared his throat to hold back a laugh. He wondered if he would need to slap Teddy Bear for Matthew.

Jasper stood when he saw Matthew give a smile, a devilish one at that. He put his flask in his back pocket before putting his jacket on the log. His eyes went to Teddy Bear and he flashed him a smile. β€œYou can sit on my jacket if you like. I can imagine you’d hate to get your outfit dirty. It probably took you forever to get ready for this party. I know it took Matthew forever,” he said.

Next his attention went to Lolly. He knew he had made a bad impression. Jasper did find the freckles appealing, as they weren’t something you saw often. Though, he knew she probably heard the generic compliment often. He found the β€œcompliment” she gave him to be amusing. Jasper walked over to stand in front of Lolly. He looked down at her as he was prepared to answer her earlier question. He smirked at her as he took the flask out. He held it between them as he pretended to look at it with curiosity.

β€œWell,” he paused to look Lolly in the eye, β€œThis flask is to hold alcohol. It is holding cinnamon whiskey at the moment. Though, it can hold other types of alcohol and liquids too. I brought it with me to this party, as beer is a bit overrated. They probably have bad beer here anyways. If you have any other questions with an obvious answer, just let me know.”

He winked at her before he went to stand at her side. Jasper had gotten a quick glance of Austin. He took a slow deep breath as he felt his anger bubble a bit. Jasper watched as Austin roamed throughout the crowd. He opened the flask and took a sip of it before he put it in his back pocket. He would rather not feel too much pain if he had to hit Austin. Hell, Austin could even get a hit in if they ended up in a tussle. Though, Jasper really hoped it did not come to that. The last thing he wanted was his anger to get the best of him.

It was too late by the time he noticed Alice on the log. He swore in his head as she pinched his cheek. It hurt, but he still rolled his eyes when she spoke. He gave her a smile when she mentioned his manners. His cheeks actually turned a very light shade of pink. Jasper wasn’t proud of his jealousy, but it happened. He was protective of Alice and Matt. It didn’t help these stranger gave him an odd feeling. Something just seem off about them. He just couldn’t put his finger on it.

Honestly he wondered why they were even talking to them. His group only interacted with their group since they were looking at them. Laughter escaped Jasper at Alice’s question. He sure hoped not or he would need to cock block. The last thing Jasper wanted was to watch Matthew get it on with someone.

His lips parted to ask Alice where she was going, but stopped when he saw the phone in her hand. He knew it must have been Anna on the other line. Jasper crossed his arms as he watched what direction she went in. Alice returned rather quickly and handed him the phone.

β€œHey Anna, it’s Jasper. I just wanted to le-” he gasped as his gut tighten and filled with a tingly sensation; it felt unpleasant and odd since it was a new feeling, β€œShit, Alice!” His eyes widen as he watched her hit the ground.

Quickly he shut the phone and slid it into his pocket. He didn’t think of the heart attack he probably just gave Anna. Jasper ignored his gut as he knelt at Alice’s side. He looked at her with his eyes filled with worry.

β€œAre you okay Alice? What’s wrong?” he paused to glance over at Matt, β€œIt’s time to go. Please get my jacket and Teddy Bear’s number for yourself. Also, I may need your help get Alice in the car . I am sober enough to get us home,”

This Jasper kid was all over the place. It was like he couldn't just pick one person to have a conversion with. Like his poor little brain needed the stimulation. Eloise narrowed her eyes at him as he intervened with Teddy and the other kid, again. Lolly had already forgotten the pretty boy's name. Resisting the jabs she could make at Jasper, Lolly managed to keep her tongue by the time he returned to their conversation.

Eloise was not amused. There was no way in hell that this kid was going to act superior than her and get away with it. Almost instantaneously she crossed her arms in front of her chest and balanced on a stuck out hip. Buttons. He really liked to push them.

Trying not to give in to it and let the little bastard have his fun, Eloise rolled her eyes at him. A small bubble of laughter escaped her mouth in distaste. For a moment it was like Eloise was blind, and words flowed out her mouth like downhill stream. "You know," she started, "it's really cute that you're trying to be clever, but I'm just... not amused." With the last words she gave Jasper a nasty sarcastic shrug and a half-assed smile. With a flip of her hair, everything began moving quickly. A phone call. A thud. Chaos and confusion.

Eloise shook her head, trying to put together the pieces. That Alice girl was on the ground. Like the flip of a switch, Eloise was in emergency mode. After all, she had spent the majority of her childhood in the middle of a war between demons and vampires. Eventually you grow used to odd events and become confident in scary situations. It also helped that Lolly was trained to work in the medical facility once she hit a decent age.

Within moments Eloise was beside Alice, looking her over. Did you hit your head?" She asked, with concern in her voice. "Can you feel all your fingers and toes?"

Mel lifted her head to face Alice as the short brunette turned to look at her and Lolly. She grinned. "Let’s try this again," she announced. "Hi, I’m Alice, it's nice to meet you guys." Alice stuck her hand out, shaking Lolly's hand first before turning to Mel.

As soon as Mel and Alice made contact, the latter dropped her hand immediately. Mel raised an eyebrow curiously, wondering why Alice reacted so quickly. As soon as she did that, Alice hissed in pain, stumbling over a log and falling to the ground. Mel furrowed her eyebrows, concern evident on her face.

"Did God just smite me?" Alice groaned, still on the ground. Jasper and Lolly dashed towards the brunette on the ground, concern in their voices. As they did that, Mel narrowed her eyes, trying to think.

Jasper is the lost demon, she started. Supposedly, there was a burst of uncontrollable power. Clearly, he wasn't trained. Mel scrolled through the information in her brain. Her parents, who were strong supporters of The Nocte ac Die Prophecy, taught her a lot about the prophecy and the twin half-demons.

Looking down at Alice, Mel suddenly understood. She's a twin, she thought. Obvious. Why didn't I notice before? After Jasper made contact with Alice, he received his power. He wouldn't be able to live among the humans for this long, blending in this easily, with a power all his life. Evidently, he only received his power recently. Presumably, Alice and Jasper were bonded. But a twin could only receive their power after making contact with all of their bondmates.

In conclusion, Mel had to be Alice's bondmate. There was no other way. It was the most logical explanation to why Alice acted like she did.

But if Mel was Alice's bondmate...

Suddenly, Mel felt a burning sensation in her gut, as if she was melting away in that very moment. She stiffened, while managing to just barely keep up her cool facade. Eventually, Mel stumbled from the pain, leaning against a tree.

"Delayed reaction," she muttered to herself. "Lovely."

Mel did the irrational thing of gripping her arm incredibly hard, attempting to take her focus away from the burning in her abdomen. Of course, it wasn't going to work.

As the burning finally started to ebb away, Mel limped towards the group just as Jasper said, β€œIt’s time to go. Please get my jacket and Teddy Bear’s number for yourself. Also, I may need your help get Alice in the car. I am sober enough to get us home."

"Calm down," Mel intercepted, knowing what would happen if she allowed Jasper to leave. "She's fine for the moment." She paused for a moment, before continuing. "If you want to go home, do that, but nothing's seriously wrong with her." Technically, Mel was telling the truth.

She muttered quietly into Lolly's ear, "He's not leaving. Let's make sure of that."

Matthew had never been one to be entirely forward, or flirtatious for that matter. Of course, the boy had his small town charm but, there was just some part of him that Teddy brought out. What am I getting myself into... The thought ran across his mind, however Teddy quickly filled the silence. "I'd be happy to show you, not here though. Voyeurism isn't a kink of mine, not that I have performance issues." . This guy was really going for it, and Matthew wasn't sure how much longer he could keep up before he was reduced to a stuttering mass of a blushed face and red ears. He was practically a loss of words, as Teddy smoothly set down next to him on the log offering him a wink that Matthew found it quite hard to get out of his mind.

"So I was thinking...". Teddy casually placed a hand on his knee, causing Matthew's brain to go into immense recovery mode. He was so caught up in trying to play it off smoothly that he didn't even notice Teddy had gone silent. It was almost like he was just frozen in time. It was the first time Matthew felt like he was seeing, well, the real Teddy. Even though he was still looking at Matt, it was almost as if he wasn't entirely there. Long gone was the flirtatious and mysterious expressions but rather one that was innocent, unassuming. Matthew hadn't even noticed Teddy's hand had slipped off his knee, as he began to worry that there was something wrong. A seizure? Or some black out? Matthew's brows furrowed and he reached out cautiously to Teddy's arm but just as quickly as the trance had came, it was gone. He watched color flood into Teddy's cheeks, and a look of confusion pass by but only for a second before it was replaced with his lazy half-smile. It was the first time Matthew had seen the boy stumble. "Were you saying something? Sorry, you're pretty distracting, you know." Matthew opened his mouth to form the words, 'Are you okay?' but only got out a measly, "What?" before Teddy shot off the log in a flash at the sound of a loud thump.

All Matthew's unanswered questions for Teddy were dropped as he turned to watch Alice collapse to the ground. A(n) brotherly instinct washed over him and he quickly shot off the log and found himself at Alice's side next to Jasper. β€œIt’s time to go. Please get my jacket and Teddy Bear’s number for yourself. Also, I may need your help get Alice in the car . I am sober enough to get us home,” Matthew felt himself nodding along with Jasper's comment. This was just too much crazy for one night. "Calm down," Mel's voice rang out, and Matthew noted how oddly calm she was, but raised an eyebrow at the pain she seemed to be in. What had he missed? His eyes trailed back to Teddy for a moment. God he really is distracting. "She's fine for the moment. If you want to go home, do that, but nothing's seriously wrong with her."

Matt gave Mel a quizzical look, not moving away from Alice. "She's fine? She just passed out, I think that's far from fine. Jasper's right, we're sorry for bothering you. I think it's best we just get Alice home". A sudden wave of protectiveness came over him. No matter how attractive Matt found Teddy, Alice was his best friend and they were just strangers. He stood abruptly, ready to gather their things, accidentally bumping into Eloise in the process. He took a few steps back to regain his footing, "I- I'm sorry. I just didn't see-".

Matthew had never heard such a horrible screeching in his life.

His sentence ended with a noise that almost sounded as if the breath had been taken away from him. It all happened so fast, that if you asked him to recall it, he'd be a loss for words. He clutched his ears and stumbling back into another vacant log, until he was able to regain his footing. The shrill screech increased in volume, his head feeling like it was going to practically explode. Suddenly a loud pop was heard all across the party, followed by the screams and shrieks of teenagers as they dropped their phones on the ground, all of them practically exploding.

Matthew took in a large gasp of air as the shrill scream in his ears, was replaced with a faint ringing. Looking back he wished that this would have been the end of him acquiring his powers, but unfortunately it was just the beginning. The air around Matthew seemed to pop and fizz with electricity, so much that he could taste the acidity of it on his tongue. He looked up at his friends, fear written all over his face. Matthew felt as if he had consumed one hundred energy drinks, and he knew this feeling couldn't be good. His body started to warm up, especially his hands and when he finally dared to peak he watched as blue, hot electricity danced across his palm and finger tips. By this time other partygoers started to notice the show that was going on, a few even had their phones out, the bright red recording light blinking, all pointed at him. "A-Alice? Jasper" His voice came out hoarse as if he'd lost it, laced with fear.

Suddenly sparks danced across his palm and struck an empty log, and the snack table with a loud crack, a few screams coming from the crowd. The electricity left a smoldering, black line across the log that was still smoking, and destroyed the snack table which was currently engulfed in flames. It took Matthew only a few moments to realize that he was going to hurt someone if he continued to stand there. He didn't even dare glance at his friends, not wanting to see the looks on their faces, before he bolted into the trees that surrounded the property.

He didn't know where he was going but eventually stopped running after he couldn't see the fire from the party anymore. By this time sparks were chaotically flying from his hands in all directions, his panic only seemed to make it worse. "Stop, stop, please stop" His voice rang out desperately as he shoved his palms face down in the mud.

Alice sat up from her position on the ground with a loud groan, swatting her hands half-heartedly towards Jasper. Soon enough the new girl Lolly and Matt had come beside her too. Yep, now Alice was uncomfortable. Bending her head down so she was looking at the ground, she felt as if she was going to throw up. She was no longer in the same amount of pain she was, but her body still held a weird feeling. It nearly felt like she was in a slow hazy dream where all her muscles ached like she had gone on a twenty hour hike. Everything was internal. There seemed to be no external effects.

Rubbing the back of her neck, she said to Lolly, "I'm good, I just uh-" pausing for a moment, Alice didn't know what to say. I mean clearly most of them saw what happened, but Alice didn't know what it was. Her mind was trying to rationalize the situation. Maybe Mel had one of those odd hand buzzers meant to prank people, but Mel really didn't seem like the type to play practical jokes, nor did she think that was some sort of buzz or electric shock. "I just fell over that log, I'm fine."

Looking up only as Mel spoke, Alice cocked her head to the side slightly. From her words it was clear she knew what was going on. Alice only wished she'd enlighten her. She was going to say something, but Matt spoke before her. "I didn't pass out, I tripped," she muttered towards him, not exactly arguing the 'go home' idea. It would be unfortunate for him and Teddy, but Alice wasn't trusting of this whole situation or these new people. All this was a bit too twilight zone.

As Alice began to push herself off the ground, still feeling entirely too sluggish and over-sensitive to the feel of anything, she was quickly knocked back after the worse thing imaginable happened. Instinctively covering her ears from the loud screech, Alice had felt like her whole world had dropped from under her. Turning to crawl towards Matt, she had to stop when a loud crack of thunder rang out way too close to home. Matt looked around, more fearful than Alice had ever seen him. A blue buzz coated his hands, and a strong sense of dΓ©jΓ  vu hit her. The only time in her life that something this peculiar had ever happened around Alice was the first day she had met Jasper and shook his hand.

Fuck.

Stumbling until she could stand up, she never took her eyes off Matt, overwhelming concern taking over her. "Matt-" she said softly, getting caught off guard suddenly by another large crack as a log snapped in half and a nearby table caught on fire. Okay. So this was pretty bad. She barley had time to react before her friend took off into the woods behind him.

Alice tried stumbling after him, but it became increasingly harder to hold herself up. She'd never felt so weak. This was so not the fucking time for her body to give out on her. Instinctively reaching out to rest her hand on a tree and lean her weight on it, she lifted her hand to wipe her nose as she felt a drop of blood trickle out of it. She didn't even have time to process that little fact before she looked over to a guy who had his phone up recording the events of what was happening.

Making herself move from the tree, she angrily yanked the phone from the guy’s hand, threw it on the ground, and weakly stomping on it. It was enough that after a few times, it had cracked. The guy in question- she couldn't remember his name- angrily reached to grab her arm in order to yank her, yelling at her "what do you think you're doing, bitch?” Alice's muscle memory of defense kicked in despite her weak state, as she grabbed his wrist and twisted him into a painful hold. "Come on, you can be more clever than bitch" Alice huffed out, until a weird rush over came her, like that cold feeling you get after a vaccination. Except it was everywhere.

Suddenly, it was like all the pain and slow sluggishness that Alice had felt previously was gone. She actually felt better than before. A little stronger. Rejuvenated was the word. It shocked her so much that she quickly loosened her grip on the boy, who dropped to the ground like he'd been hit by a car, groaning as he did. She knew she hadn't grabbed him that hard.

Barley taking time to process that, she took off into the trees towards the direction she thought Matt went. She knew these woods like the back of her hand, and took the obvious straightforward path. Soon enough, she skidded to a stop as soon as the familiar brown haired boy came into her sight. She kept a safe distance, for both him and her. The sparking from his hands still hadn't ceased. If she went to approach him any closer, she was afraid he'd run off again.

"Matt, look at me," she spoke to him, bending down as he did when he put his hands in the mud. She didn't know what to do in this situation. She figured the best thing was for him to probably calm down. Hopefully. "Stop focusing on what's happening and look at me," she pleaded.

Jasper actually glared at Mel after he told him to calm down. Didn’t she know that was the worst thing to tell someone? It was what made someone be far from calm. If Alice was her friend, I bet she would not be calm. She may not give a fuck about Alice, but I do. I can’t believe she even assumes Alice is fine. We sure as hell will be going home. Jasper’s hands turned into tight fist. Mel was just adding fuel to his anger. He had a lot to be anger about. His parents with their nonsense, and he was still mad because of Austin. He had to take a deep breath as he felt himself losing control.

He calmed slightly when Matt replied to her. A smirk graced his lips when Matt agreed they should leave. Although, Jasper’s teeth pressed together when Matt bumped Lolly. There was that odd feeling again. It was the third time this night. What the hell was going on? He knew it was not the alcohol. He didn’t get to think about it much as all hell broke loose. His eyes just stayed on Matt. Slowly he stood up and went to get his jacket. He slid it on.

Luckily Alice hopped into action before he did. He kind of still stayed still as he was in shock. His mind just knew to get their things before he left. It was something normal to do. Although, he slowly begun to walk to Alice when she went over to some guy. He stopped once again when Alice made it very clear she had things under control.

Matt was in the back of his mind, but Alice was in immediate danger or could be soon. He had already taken note of what direction Matt ran off to. It would not be too hard to find him. He could track him. As soon as Alice ran off into the woods, Jasper followed. Though, he had to say something to the trio they were about to leave first. He did not want them to follow. He turned around to run backwards in the direction Alice went in. It was a slow run for now. The last thing he wanted was to trip.

β€œDon’t follow us. The last thing we want is your help. We’ve been taking care of each other for years. Bye,” he yelled at Teddy, Lolly, and Mel before disappearing into the woods. By the time he caught up to and found his friends, they were near each other. Matt had his hands in some mud. He slowly walked over to them and squatted in front of Matt. He glanced at Alice and gave her a worried smile.

β€œMatt, it will all be okay. They’re just powers, I have them too. Let’s just go home and we can all talk about it. My parents are gone for the night…I have some things to tell you guys too…” he said. He decided he would need to tell them about what his parents said. Not telling them the truth was torture and seemed to be needed right now.

xxxNothing was making sense in Teddy's mind. First, Wonderland girl is falling, talking about being smited, Eloise and Wonderland's other friend were concerned, and Teddy just had whatever just happened with Matt happen. He felt like his head was spinning trying to keep up with all the different things happening.

xxxMelanie was being calm in the situation which was normal since she's always calm, but she seemed to understand what was going on. She always had a grasp on these types of situations, but none of this made sense. It was like he suddenly had powers. A demon having powers is common, but Teddy wasn't common. He was one of the protectors of some twins who died years ago so he wasn't suppose to get any abilities. Unless... no that's not possible. The twins were killed years ago.

xxxThe thought didn't seem so crazy when Matt suddenly bumped into Eloise trying to get to Alice. Teddy was about to reach for him, trying to stop the group from leaving when Teddy heard screaming. Matt started clutching his ears like the music was too loud. The other partygoers began to scream, dropping all of their cell phones. Teddy could feel the electricity in the air and the source was coming from the boy in front of him. The fear on Matt's face was all too familiar. The feeling that something bad was going to happen and it would be his fault. Teddy knew that feeling.

A spark of electricity flew from Matthew's hands, striking a nearby log and a snack table. The loud crack of the table breaking brought the attention of everyone at the party. All of them were staring at the group of six. When cell phones started recording, Teddy knew it was only a matter of time before the video would end up on the internet. The look of horror on Matt's face increased, realizing he just did that. He was the twin. Matthew was one of the lost twins. Before he could reach for him, Matthew was gone. He ran into the woods, out of sight. Teddy was about to run after him when Jasper stopped them.

"Don’t follow us. The last thing we want is your help. We’ve been taking care of each other for years. Bye!"

"You're gonna need us, asshole!" Not one of his best lines, but it was true. If Matt was also a lost demon, they would need Teddy and his team. Not that he has any experience, but he watched how Micah struggled with his powers when he was younger. As a teen, he has better control, but that wasn't without years of practice.

Teddy wanted to follow the group. He would have, but some SOB decided to be smart. "I'm gonna get so many hits for this! Hello celebrity status!" If this video made it online, it would be harder for demons to travel into the human world. All of the teenagers kept staring at the group, still recording. All Teddy wanted was for them to leave, to disappear, to go to sleep. A throbbing feeling came to his head. One by one, each teenager dropped. They started passing out as Teddy stared at them. In a few minutes, every attendee was on the ground. A pain filled Teddy's head. He dropped to his knees clutching his head, screaming at the top of his lungs. His powers were working and it hurt. His breathing was labored as he got out a few sentences to his teammates, hoping they would be able to understand.

"Go.. spike the beer... make... look drugged... hallucinations... destroy sim cards... break phones... no... evidence."

With those words let out, Teddy slumped to the ground, unconscious, but still alive.

One demon getting their powers for the first time was chaos, five or six getting their powers was another story. It was like some kind of horrific (let comedic?) scene out of a comic book. What those teens with the cellphones would have called superpowers. What could have been perceived as an awkward conversation between the six of them had turn into a full blown freak show.

Eloise was not prepared for this day. For this moment, or for her powers. She, like the others, was under the impression that the twins were long gone. That despite her enhanced skills, she would never acquire any demon powers like her friends or cousins. When she was younger Lolly hated the fact that she was different, and often endured her cousins taunts and teasing. However, as she grew older Lolly had a sense of freedom from not having a power. She wasn't marginalized, but instead was someone special.

Our brave red-headed girl could never have imagined how a simple bump could change her life forever. Eloise was frozen in time and space. It was as if her ears were following time but the rest of her brain was malfunctioning. She listened to the chaos of screams, other words formed around her, and lastly Jasper's defiance toward them. All the while her body was in a crouch position, unable to move, and her mind was flashing.

Every person, scene, scent, sound, and place was clicking through her head at hyper speeds. A strange woman with bright green eyes. A yellow freckled meadow. A humming bird with shiny green wings. A dark closet full of grey clothes. Two pairs of purple shoes. Her cousin Milly's upset face. Her parents smiling down at her in a crib. When her vision split, showing electric colorful ties to Teddy and Matt, Eloise's head began to ache. Then it went back to the pictures, two at a time now, being logged.

A wave of excruciating pain hit her by surprise. Lolly grabbed her forehead and leaned down on her knees, finally able to move. What the hell was happening? Usually she was able to decipher problems with little delay, but she couldn't think beyond the millions of images flashing through her head.

Overloaded with information, Eloise's dark brown eyes rolled to the back of her head. Lolly could feel her eyes retracting, but saw only what was playing in her mind. Irrationally, she thought she was going blind. "Oh my god..." she muttered. Lolly began to panic. She heard Teddy speak in scattered phrases, then a thud. "Teddy?" Desperate for a response, Lolly reached out her hands, hoping that he or Mel would be in front of her. "Teddy, answer me!" She called out. "Mel? Mel, what the fu-"

With a click it was over. Everything was a little more focused now. Tons of teenagers were laying on the ground, including Teddy. Eloise looked around for a moment, completely transfixed. She stood up with no struggle and walked around in awe, not realizing that she was embodying every person she looked at.

Matt stumbled into Eloise, about to apologize profusely when the screaming of human teenagers interrupted him. It was absolute chaos. Mel's eyes widened slightly, keeping a level head as she turned to Matt, who was sitting on a log, attempting to regain his composure. Bright blue electricity was dancing over his fingers, apparent fear written on his face as the teenagers around him started recording videos of what was happening. Mel seethed, whipping around to face the humans.

"He's going into shock, and you're recording him?!" Mel yelled at the party-goers. Most of them shifted a fraction of their attention over to her. "Well, delete that video, put away your phones, and show some damn respect!" Unfortunately, only a few teenagers even bothered to consider that idea. Mel scowled and rolled her eyes, definitely not pleased, but she could always erase the evidence later.

"Don’t follow us," Mel turned towards the sound of Jasper's voice. "The last thing we want is your help. We’ve been taking care of each other for years. Bye!" Mel's eyebrows shot up in displeasure.

Before Mel could hand the idiot his ass, Teddy yelled out, "You're gonna need us, asshole!" Mel decided that she didn't need to add anything. That statement was definitely true.

"I'm gonna get so many hits for this!" some smart-ass teenager cheered. "Hello celebrity status!" Mel grit her teeth, clearly pissed off. Humans had to ruin everything.

Surprisingly, the teenagers around the brunette started dropping like flies as soon as Mel thought that. She looked around rapidly, her eyes finally landing on Teddy, who was gripping his head and screaming like a banshee. Mel dropped to her knees, patting Teddy's back at an attempt to be soothing. "It's just your powers kicking in, it's going to be fine." Mel was damn lucky; she wasn't going through Teddy's pain.

After a couple moments of labored breathing, Teddy managed to get a few broken sentences out. "Go...spike the beer...make...look drugged...hallucinations...destroy sim cards...break phones...no...evidence." At that, Teddy slumped to the ground, falling unconscious. Mel carefully set him down, aiming for the teenagers' phones.

Luckily, Mel was efficient. Fingerprint passwords were a thing these days; she didn't even have to try to crack anybody's code, she would just grab their hand and press their finger to the home button. Mel managed to delete all the videos in a quick time, hoping that no one would have a feature that automatically saves everything they took on the camera app and sends it to iCloud or something like that.

It was a good thing that most of the phones were still recording, though, since the videos wouldn't get saved if Mel cut them off. She headed towards the drinks - damn, she didn't snag Jasper's weird whisky. Added to the drink, the concoction would taste absolutely horrendous, but technically, it counted as spiking the drink.

Abruptly, Mel felt something change. Of course, things were always changing, but there seemed to be an unsettling shift in the atmosphere. The brunette carefully approached the drink, taking a sip, as if to test it out. Her brows furrowed in confusion. "There was nothing strange in this before," Mel muttered to herself. "But now...it tastes like someone added psychotic hallucinogenic drugs in this..." Mel's eyes widened. "Shit, did I manage to actually spike the drink?" She shook her head. "Must be a weird power phenomenon..."

A shout knocked Mel out of her thoughts. "Mel? Mel, what the fu-"

Mel's head shot up. "Lolly?" she called out, turning around. "I really hope you aren't feeling faint right now..." Mel's jaw dropped for a second at the sight of her friend before she closed her mouth quickly. "Okay...?"

Someone, presumably Eloise, was walking around, clearly in awe. Mel was staring at her like she was an alien - she actually wasn't too far off. As Lolly stared at the people on the ground, her appearance shifted to match the appearance of whoever she was looking at. Mel masked a giggle with a cough as Lolly's appearance shifted into a 6'3" boy with at least 200 pounds of muscle of him. Illusions? she asked herself. It seemed so. At times, Eloise's appearance would flicker back to the 5'2" redhead Mel knew and loved.

Matt continued to press his hands into the dirt, the strands of blue electricity dancing across the ground before him. Oddly enough, Matt was more concerned in the fact that he couldn't get it to stop than the fact electricity was being produced from his fingertips. His panic attack was interrupted by the sound of someone running through the brush, leaves cracking under their feet. He whipped around to make eye contact with Alice, who had a mixture of terror and concern on her face. "Alice, please d-don't come near" He said breaking eye contact, he couldn't bear to look at her. He was more worried about him possibly hurting her more than anything else.

"Matt, look at me," Her voice came out quiet, and almost far away. His mind was going a thousand miles a minute. He was like an overcharged battery. "Stop focusing on what's happening and look at me". He strained his neck to try and look up at her, pain and shame written all over his face. "Alice I don't know if I can" his voice came out small and desperate, but he was being honest. He didn't know if he could stop. If the next step would just be human combustion. He could feel the electricity coursing through his body, setting off each nerve like an alarm. It was a strange feeling, and maybe if he wasn't so afraid he would embrace it. He felt energized, and new but Matt was rejecting it. He didn't want the future for whatever this meant. He just wanted to go home to his family and have his mom complain about submitting his application for college, spend the night with Jasper, and tease Alice at the lunch table. This thing could only mean bad things. I mean, he'd never heard of the human lightning rod, except in movies. This was all just too overwhelming for one mind to comprehend.

His head jerked up at the sound of another pair of footsteps, his eyes now landing on both of his best friends. Alice and Jasper. They had both come to his help. β€œMatt, it will all be okay. They’re just powers, I have them too. Let’s just go home and we can all talk about it. My parents are gone for the night…I have some things to tell you guys too…”. They're just powers, I have them too. That would explain the freak accident that had happened at school. Still, how could Jasper be so calm about something like this? What more did he have to say about their situation?

"Just powers? Jasper there's electricity. Electricity shooting from my finger tips. I- I could've killed someone, almost, killed someone back there. Now I can't seem to stop it. How can this somehow be okay?" He tone held nothing rude, more of a desperation and confusion. There was one thing that both Alice and Jasper said that he understood. He needed to calm down. His emotions were definitely making things worse.

He clenched his eyes shut, and took a deep breath, and again several times until his shaky breath turned more solid and steady. He found that the electricity needed guidance. This would be something he still could never wrap his head around. It was almost a living being inside him, bending to his will. He flexed his fingers in the dirt, slowly wiggling each finger until the electricity had completely disappeared. Or so it seemed. Matt could still feel it, almost like butterflies in his stomach, but it was much calm and dormant. After his little light show finally seemed to have been subdued he decided to face his friends who were still both entirely concerned.

"I think I'm fine, I feel like I got hit by a truck and thrown in a deep fryer, but ok" His voice still came out slightly hoarse, his hair was tousled, and he just looked tired. He slumped back on his heels, wiping the dirt on his jeans, something he'd normally never do. "We need to get out of here. Someone's already probably called the cops, because of you know. I don't want it to come back." His eyes seemed to darken and his gaze strayed to the ground. How would he even be able to go back to school? He'd be labeled as a freak. His status however was the least of his concerns, his newfound 'powers' as Jasper called them didn't seem to want to go away entirely.

God, Alice felt weird. Not necessarily a bad weird by any means, but not right. Not normal. Literally moments ago she felt as if she’d been punted right across the football field by her school’s star player (and that’s saying a lot, that guy had a lot of muscles in a lot of places), but now she felt like all that pain had melted away into bubbling energy she had no idea what do with. She needed to move, to run, to exert all this extra vitality bundled up inside of her.

The appearance of Jasper beside her didn’t surprise her, but Matt’s plea of "Alice I don't know if I can,” quickly made her attention turn back to him. β€œBullshit,” Alice stated, stepping towards him a bit more, trying her damned best for him to make eye contact with her. β€œMatt, you’ve gotten through every little hurdle thrown your way. If you can deal with that, plus all of our crap, what’s a little electro-hands?” She wanted to make light of the situation, but not down play the seriousness of it all that it pissed him off. Because it was serious. None of this was normal, she could admit that. But what she saw unfolding in front of her was heartbreaking. Her best friend was crumpling in front of her, desperate for it to stop. She would do anything so he didn’t have that look on his face.

Turning to glance at Jasper, it sunk in that her suspicious were true. Clearly Matt had powers, but with all that unfolded back there… all of them probably had them. She didn’t want to focus on that right now. One problem at a timeβ€” wait, what does Jasper mean he has something to tell us?

Scrutinizing Jasper’s face, Alice tried her best to get a read on what he was feeling, because there was without a doubt some shred of understanding below his features as to what was going on. She wasn’t pleased he didn’t just blurt it out right then and there, not surprisingly as she was never known as the most patient one of their little group. She waned to know what the hell was going on right now. Why Matt suddenly turned into an x-men character, why Jasper already had powers way before the rest presumably had, and why in the hell she just noticed a soft glowing light surrounding both Matt and Jasper like some heat wave of northern lights.

Jasper’s color was composed largely of yellow and red, not mixing exactly to make orange. Yellow was in abundance, seeping into red as it almost flickered in and out. Now that she looked closer, she could see a little pink too. Matt on the other hand, was an odd mishmash. There was a flickering green (reminding her of the green beacon in The Great Gatsby), a red truer than the one the flared from Jasper. She was sure the most shocking thing would have been the fixed pure white that stemmed from the base of him, if it wasn’t for the muddied gray splotches that spurted throughout like fireworks. She didn’t have a good feeling about the gray. It very much felt like the panic she was sure he had felt.

Well, she wasn’t going to mention anything about it if they weren’t.

Looking away from Jasper, she listened to Matt’s complaints and waited until he calmed down enough. As soon as his powers faded and he relaxed the slightest bit, she noticed the gray splotches dim but still remain. She didn’t want to focus on that, however, and quickly launched herself at her best friend to wrap him in an awkward tangled hug. Releasing herself just as fast, she grabbed both sides of his face a little too hard and stared him down, peering at ever square inch of him she could see. β€œAre you hurt anywhere? Jasper, you have a first aid kit at your house, righ-β€œ Alice’s voice was cut off into a sharp intake of breath as she felt that weird channel thing inside of her again, except this time it wasn’t moving through her, but out of her. Quickly releasing his face, she stared wide eyed at him for for a moment before shooting up straight. Not weird, nope. Totally fine.

Feeling a little less gung-ho and energetic than before, really just feeling tired, Alice turned quickly on her heel and tossed her car keys at Jasper. β€œPick him up and carry him to the car if you have too. I’m going to go have a little chat with our new friends and see if there’s any damage control to be done.” Coughing slightly into her sleeve, she trudged back to the party area.

Shuffling back out of the woods, she was debating the best way to play this all off, but quickly noticed the two girls were moving around presumably doing just that. Was that red headed girl… wait what was she doing? β€˜Jesus Christ, I’m in a nightmare,’ she thought as she wildly looked around for James Franco to pop up. That son of a bitch was always in her nightmares. She half expected Lolly to become him instead of the party goers.

Alas, the too large smiing menace never appeared, and all she saw was reality and the boy Matt had been flirting with lying face down on the ground while his friends did whatever the hell they were doing. Groaning both internally and externally, she moved over to him and knelt beside him. β€œβ€Don’t be dead, don’t be dead, don’t be dead” she spoke hopefully, as she rolled him over so he was fully face up. There was a rise in fall in his chest. Good. Good sign.

He, like the others, also had a wide range of colours surrounding him but those freaking gray splotches were there too, except they seemed to be swallowing him whole. Okay. Not great. Not a good sign. She wasn’t sure how to fix it, but if any indication of what had just happened with Matt could tell her, maybe if she touched him…

Placing a hand gently on his wrist, she closed her eyes and immediately felt that same energy whooshing out of her at a greater speed than it had happened before. Shit, shit shit shitβ€” trying to shut off whatever imaginary channel was working, she tapered it off a bit, but forced a break in contact before it could continue any longer. Slumping over slightly, she once again felt as if she had been hit by a vehicle. It wasn’t a semi-truck like last time, but one of those stupid smart cars. Not as bad, but not as great.

Fumbling with her hand to pick up a stick from the ground, she poked the boy’s side gently in an attempt to stir him awake, she watched the gray start to fade away bit by bit. Getting herself slowly to stand back up, she stumbled a bit feeling woozy, and cringed at the start of a killer migraine.

Taking in a deep breath of air, she looked over at the two girls and commented, β€œWe’re leaving, might be a good idea to do the same,” as she started to shuffle away.

Dang, she needed a nap.
