{Timid, Kind, Gentle, Peaceful, Emotional}

It's in her nature to be shy. Nyna isn't one to speak to someone first - on most occasions. She's a sort of shadow. Not many people notice her as she is a lower ranking member of society - simply cleaning up and caring for others. When spoken to she's quiet and reserved until she's comfortable around the person. The castle isn't her home, it will never be - but it is where she resides for the time. A sadness lingers in the gentle girl, hidden from plain sight. When her tree was cut down, that was when the sadness began. Some think it's crazy she has such a connection with the earth and plants around her, but it's who she is. Her only calm is when walking the woods and feeling the world beneath her feet. Nyna is a very gentle and kind soul. When others are in need of help she has her arms wide open. She soothes others with soft words and a listening ear to hear them out on their troubles, if only someone would listen to her. There is not a single violent bone in her body. Causing harm to others is not in her nature. She'll do what she can to protect herself if the situation arises - but never will she intentionally harm anyone.

A dryad is born when a tree in the forest is cut down. In this case - the tree was an oak tree. It was her tree. She was born from the seeds of nature the moment it was cut. Not literally of course. Nyna did not sprout out of the ground by any means. In fact the first memory she has is being taken in by two peasants - which became her parents. There was always something different about the girl, she and her parents knew this. Nyna had always had a connection with the woods, and one day on her explorations found the stump that had created her. She now goes there everyday to do menial things. When she was 12 her mother sent her to work as a housemaid for a noble. Nyna has been serving ever since.

When 16, her mother died of a cold, and her father died a year later from grief. Actually he hung himself - from another tree. Heartbroken she gave them a small burial in the backyard of their small farmhouse. Flowers are left everyday at the two graves. She continues serving for money in order to survive. One may think these misfortunes of her past would only make her into a bitter person - but it shaped her into someone that only wants to help the word and bring smiles to peoples faces.

It is year 1572 where we begin our story. The Queen's Court had recently moved to Windsor for the summer, seeing as it was one of the Queen's favorite places. For the time, everyone seemed to still be settling into the palace, but most people in the Court were used to traveling. However, this is not a story about the simple people of the Court. No, this story is about the members of it that are slightly less than human.

The summer heat was getting to everyone in the Court. It was almost like the sun was trying to kiss the earth, something that should never happen. In a particular room, one single girl by the name of Cecily Euphemia Evercott reclined in a chair as her skittish maidservant hurried around, cleaning the small quarters. To be honest, Cecily did not mind having a small bedchamber. It was the price she paid for having a room to herself. She was growing quite weary of the new maidservant though, a "present" from Her Majesty, brought from France. The young woman did not speak one word of English, but that was not a problem for Cecily, who was well known for her linguistic abilities. The only thing that truly bothered Cecily was the maid's much too cautious behavior. It made the Lady of the Court wonder what could be wrong with the poor girl. She was barely older than Cecily herself. When she looked up from her book, the maid was staring at her.

Startled, the girl looked down and started sweeping furiously. "Etes-vous tout à fait bien, ma fille?*" Cecily questioned, standing up.

The maid dropped her broom, her eyes wide as she faced Cecily. "Je suis désolé, Madame. Je ne voulais pas vous inquiéter!" she exclaimed quickly, picking up her broom. She looked at Cecily again, "Vous parlez français."

Cecily let out a small laugh, "Oui."

It was like the maid had suddenly changed. She became very excited as she brought the broom close to her. "Voulez-vous me enseigner l'anglais?"

"Oui, nous allons commencer simple. Quel est votre nom?" Cecily questioned the young girl.

"Alexis," she replied in a thick French accent.

Cecily shook her head, "Non. My name is..."

Alexis bit her lip as Cecily repeated herself two more times. "M-my name i-is... Alexis?"

The Lady nodded her head, clapping her hands. Alexis grinned at Cecily, bobbing a curtsey. Suddenly, a knock came at the door. Instead of having the English impaired Alexis answer it, Cecily moved past her. She unbolted the door, easing it open. The person she saw came as a bit of a shock to the nineteen year old girl. "What a pleasant surprise."

The wine glass fell from her usually nimble hands onto the wooden floor, causing a loud crashing sound. Day dreaming while drying dishes seemed to not mix well.
"What was that?" her mistress called from her room, making Nyna's throat become dry. She groaned at her own stupidity before responding.
"A glass simply dropped, do not worry" Nyna replied back, her voice soft and gentle as always. Grabbing the nearby broom she began sweeping up the broken shards of glass. Nyna was lucky in the sense that she was wearing shoes at the moment. Normally she didn't. Nyna adjusted her ivy green dress on her frame after she was done cleaning up her foolish mistake. The corset she wore was pulled tightly, and the sleeves were beige. It wasn't anything fancy, nothing like what her mistress wore. Her hair was back in a braid, strands of hair in the front laid free to frame her face.

The windows of the estate she served were closed and covered with red curtains to block the sunlight. How she wished she was allowed to open one of those windows and let the sunlight hit her skin. Her mistress however, claimed she got headaches when there was too much sun. Nyna couldn't see how that was possible, as sunlight only made her happy. She obeyed her mistresses wishes however. Nyna always obeyed. She was an obedient servant to her mistress, as she was her only servant. The estate wasn't so large it needed more care than from one woman, but it was large.

Her mistress wasn't as stuck up and snobby as most important people in the kingdom. She was rather kind and lenient in actuality. She was in her late thirties and still looked to be in her twenties. Often her mistress was praised for her young appearance and looks. Parties and events were something common in the household, which Nyna always helped make possible. Her mistress seemed to favor Nyna. Maybe it was because the girl didn't speak much. At times her mistress would call her into her chambers to vent on the girl about problems in the noble world. More often than not they were petty issues, but never the less Nyna listened and offered small tidbits of advice.

Gardening was her favorite part of her job. When all her indoor duties were finished - she rushed outside to begin tending to the lovely plants she had sowed and taken care of. Many were impressed by the girls knack with plants. Her mistresses estate was possibly the most colorful and lovely of them all on the exterior. Looking around her the vibrant flowers reached towards the sun. All the shrubbery seemed to maintain perfect shape as well. Her mistress often asked how she did it, Nyna always shrugged claiming it just took patience.

Taking a wildflower from the garden she put it into her hair. It was rare to see that she didn't have a flower in her hair. Immediately she grabbed the stem of the flower she had plucked and willed the plant to create a new flower in its loss. Nyna took a deep breath. How desperately she wanted to run to the forest to embrace herself in the world around her.

Time passed Nyna quickly in the comfort of nature. Her mistresses garden was a sight to behold. Dark green ivy crawled up the house in an elegant manner. Bright unusually vibrant flowers of different sorts bloomed towards the sky near the stone walk way to the entrance of the home. Green square shrubbery acted as a fence around the house, and not a single leaf was out of place. The stone steps of her house were free of dirt as they were swept. The exterior of the home was picture perfect so to say. Like one of the images a painter would use as inspiration. Her mistress was always proud of Nyna's work, others seemed to be jealous of the exterior of the home. Appearances were everything. Nyna's peasant parents told her of this, constantly reminding her to wash off after her long disappearances into the woods. Her Mother taught her everything she knew for the most part. Her Father was a kind man as well - but he worked more than he was home. She was taught to dress, to dress others, to please others, to be polite, to be a lady. At a young age it was nailed into her that since she is of unknown blood, and the so called offspring of peasants, she would never become anything more than a maid to a mistress. If she were lucky she could retain that job for a long while if she worked hard enough her Mother said.

Adjusting the bright yellow wildflower in her hair she got up from the ground. Her plan to leave the estate and go for a walk in the woods was diminished by her mistress coming up to the girl and placing a hand on her shoulder. Nyna looked up startled.
"M'am" she said quietly, stepping back from the woman's touch and bowing slightly. Her mistresses face wore a smile.
"You've done exemplary work of my garden once again. I do not know what you do, but it is effective. My garden is the envy of many as I'm told" her mistresses spoke. Nyna smiled slightly.
"Thank you M'am" she said quietly and politely.
"Though I do need you to run the to market to fetch me a new glass. We have an event to host soon, and I cannot go without one less wine glass" her mistress said, handing Nyna enough money to buy a new one.
"You do not need to pay me for one of your glasses Ma'm, I am the one that broke it, I can pay for it on my own accord" Nyna spoke up, gesturing the money back to the woman. Nyna's mistress simply shook her head.
"Do not worry about that, just go get the glass girl. Afterwords the day is yours, though I would like some more of that lavender cream you have made me in the past" she requested. Nyna nodded quickly before saying thank you and making her way to the marketplace. Her mistake wasn't as terrible as she first thought it would be.

Nyna had a rather large shopping list in her mind. She needed of course to replace the glass she foolishly broke at such terrible timing, as her mistress was throwing an event in a week or such. The girl also needed to buy herself a few new dresses. All of the scavenging and walking through the woods wore the cloth much sooner than expected. Walking down the path she heard a small child yelling before bumping into her. He must have been around 8, as he only came to about her breast in height. The boy had shaggy blonde hair and torn pants from what she suspected from roughhousing of some sort.
"Sorry Miss! Simply spreading the news of the masquerade ball that all are invited to attend" the boy chirped with excitement before sprinting past the girl to spread the news to others. Masquerade? Nyna had never been to one as many times she decided she'd rather stay in the woods than go to a people infested area to dance the nigh away and socialize with others. Truthfully Nyna wasn't really a social butterfly. She always found herself tripping over her own words when around people. It's hard for Nyna to become comfortable with anyone. The only person she ever felt comfortable around were her parents, and they were long gone. Her Mother taken by a sickness she couldn't help cure and her Father taken by grief. Grief was an incurable symptom. It was something that plagued a person for life. Either it consumes a person or one learns to live with it on their shoulders. Nyna had learned to live with it. Being a spirit of a tree was depressing in a sort. Knowing that somewhere her tree became some floorboard or nightstand hurt. The only thing she had was the ring she had around her finger, carved from what little wood the stump had to provide. It was her most prized possession by far.

Walking about the other shoppers with a woven basket in hand she placed a new order for the wine glass she had broken and walked to the tailors. With her own money she got herself two new simple dresses, much like the one she wore now - but different color, and slightly different design. Her mistress was actually somewhat particular on what she wore. Nyna had to always look decent in the case of guest, her mistress couldn't have a dirty servant running around (although that was rather common). Secretly Nyna scanned the gorgeous gowns that were on display. A ball seemed like a lovely thing, but she had no place there - did she? Maybe it would be good to go, do something different. If anything she guessed she could leave and go elsewhere if she felt uncomfortable, which was probably going to be the case.

Nyna ended up purchasing the dark green dress with golden colored trim. It wouldn't be reading till the next day, but it was alright. If the dress didn't come to good use for a ball she would gladly use it to run through the forest. See, the girl has a small pleasure for running through the woods - and in a dress it just feels rather elegant. The girl had spent much of her earnings at the tailors. To Nyna however - that was alright. She barely ever bought things for herself, only when necessary. It came time of her favorite time of day however. Briskly she began the path to the forest to free herself from human presence.

Nyna was terribly excited to visit her favorite place in the small world she lived in. The girl had never traveled far outside the kingdom. Sometimes she would stray far into the forest, but she always found her way back. She had no desire to leave her home. Though she was a quiet soul, she enjoyed watching the emotions of others. As she walked deeper into the forest she fiddled with the wooden ring on her index finger, appreciating the small token of her former self. When walking her ears picked up a shrieking sound coming from the east. It was a female for sure, and after a few moments of listening the word "help" was picked up. The dryad was never one to not help others, and briskly she walked the forest floor barefoot until she found the clearing the loud noise was coming from. On her way there she believed to hear the sound of horses - but knew she was mistaken.

She placed her hands over her mouth when she saw the practically naked leather beast man and blonde woman. What is he? she wondered and grew closer. She was grateful that his parts were at least cover, if they weren't it would have made it rather awkward for her. Looking down she saw water and blood roll down his leg, then saw an animal trap that contained him.
"Oh, oh my" she mumbled, mostly to herself before getting closer. Normally Nyna would be very cautious about approaching people as she normally was, but when someone was hurt, she knew she had to help. The wicker basket she carried was delicately placed down onto the ground, and she came forward to closer inspect the wound. She was no healer, but she did have a wide knowledge of natural remedies and medicines.

"We will not be able to do anything as long as his ankle stays in that trap, if you may, I believe we can both pry it open if we do it at the same time" Nyna said softy, wondering is a maidservant like herself was over pushing her limits. Some were to vain to even accept help from someone like her. She placed her small hands onto the coldness of the trap in hopes the blonde woman would help her. The girl looked familiar. There was no doubt by her clothing that she was a noble. Nyna waited for comments about her ranking, or being disgusted about her presence. There were some very rude and selfish nobles Nyna had learned.
"If we can manage to get his ankle out I may be able to help with stopping the bleeding" Nyna's eyes darted around the forest as she spoke those words. Of course she could summon the plants she would need - but she could not do it in their sight. Though there was a small part of her that felt strangely good in the presence of the leather winged man. Maybe it was because she now knew that for sure she wasn't the only strange one in the world. Her life she's always been different, it was reassuring to know she wasn't the only one.

Jeannette breathed a sigh of relief when the other woman showed up. She wasn't noble, that much was obvious, but Jeannette was past caring about birth order. Her father was a president of the parliament, and had taught her that ruling wasn't just about status. People didn't like working when they weren't treated well, and when people didn't work fields, nobles didn't eat. And when nobles didn't do their jobs, the common people weren't happy. It was better, then, for everyone to treat each other with respect so things got done.

"We will not be able to do anything as long as his ankle stays in that trap, if you may, I believe we can both pry it open if we do it at the same time" The woman said, and Jeannette nodded as she crouched, leaning backwards on her feet.

She wasn't sure where she should be looking, really- she couldn't look at the man's face because he was close to unconscious, his ankle was bleeding heavily and she could only handle that for so long, and she didn't want to look at the wings. She knew he couldn't be human, but that still didn't tell her who he was or what he was. His face was somewhat familiar, and she wondered if he lived in the palace... but that begged the question- how did he hide his wings if he lived in proximity to humans?

"Of course," Jeannette said, moving her hands so that they were side by side with the girl's. Hopefully the two of them together could get it opened. "I am glad someone showed up to help me," she smiled at the girl. "I am not strong enough on my own."

"If we can manage to get his ankle out I may be able to help with stopping the bleeding" The woman said, and Jeannette nodded. She didn't know about healing, so she was glad the woman could help her stop it. Jeannette pulled at the trap, and to her surprise it moved open, leaving room to pull the man's leg out. Jeannette pulled the trap off, setting it down carefully so it didn't snap back onto Jeannette or the woman.

"Mademoiselle? Tell me if you need me to do anything," she said, folding her hands. He was still bleeding but with the girl here Jeannette couldn't do anything about cleaning it, and even then she didn't know how to heal.

Nyna watched the man's face as he seemed to be somewhere between consciousness and oblivion. The girl didn't know really what to make of what he was. The leather wings were large and graceful. Secretly she had a small urge to touch them, to see if they felt as they looked. The blonde woman nodded at her words. "I am glad someone showed up to help me, I am not strong enough on my own." the woman smiled at Nyna, a gesture that she returned before looking back down at the trap.
"I wouldn't be strong enough on my own neither. These traps are made to be strong for the beast of the forest. Unfortunate that this...man didn't look onto where he was stepping" Nyna replied, gaining hold of the trap and pulling along with the blonde woman. Nyna was glad the woman set the trap away from them. Knowing herself Nyna would have probably ended up snapping her on it upon trying to move it.

Nyna began examining the deep gash made by the trap. There would be no need for amputation, like she initially was beginning to wonder. When the man...or thing...woke up she guessed he would be glad to find both legs. Seeing the tied piece of clothing above the wound Nyna smiled. The girl had done something to help for the moment. It was quick thinking.
"Mademoiselle? Tell me if you need me to do anything," the blonde woman said, folding her hands. Nyna looked to her and smile gently.
"I'm not worthy of that form of title. Call me Nyna ma'm" Nyna said before looking down and thinking on what she would need. By the end of the day the man would have no remnants of his shirt left. Nyna grabbed the material and struggled to rip a large portion that would be used as a rag.

"If you are still willing to help, I do need this drenched in water so I can clean the wound. I don't have the right materials on me to apply a remedy to the wound. We may need to find a way to transport him back to my home where I have my things" Nyna gently put, looking at the woman with her chestnut colored eyes. Blood did not frighten the woman in the slightest. She looked at the amount that seemed to be non ending. The bleeding would need to be stopped soon in order for the man to survive. It looked as it would need to be sewn together, as the skin was too far apart to heal naturally.
