Setting

Both these fiery nations live to fight and seek combat each chance they get. They take pride in power and spontaneity- their passion is everything! Don’t try to hold them back!

Despite their similar life styles, the Aries and Leo kingdom have different geographical situations and therefore different skill sets. Leons are more suited for the rugged terrain while Arians are more prepared for desert battles. Both are powerful military mights and respect each other to a great degree. However, there is an especially significant bond between the ruler of the Aries kingdom and the ruler of the Leo kingdom.

Prior to becoming a Princess, Alexis had run into Zari during her travels around the other kingdoms to challenge talented warriors. Having challenged her, Alexis once again fails to deal a finishing blow and loses. A great respect was formed for not by one of them but both of them. Upon becoming Princess Aries, Alexis sent a letter to Zari requesting a rematch in Zenith. After fighting on her home turf, Alexis won.

Their desire for combat complimented each other greatly. Twice a year, Alexis and Zari publicly and formally duel- once in Zenith in the Spring and once in the Colosseum in the Fall. So far, the score is tied at 3-2 in Zari’s favor.

Despite their similarities, the Aries and Leo kingdoms do not have formal trade treaties considering both of them have what the other would give them- weaponry and military. Of course, there also goes to show how they use their military might: the Leons prefer to be mercenaries, the Aries prefer standing to their own passions. They are an interesting pair, fanning each others’ flames to grow brighter and brighter.

Alexis Conall - Prior to Princessdom

She examined the forge excitedly, the heat of the furnaces reminding her of home. Alexis would often times skip away from Zari to check out the nearby work stations. Her mind was abuzz with inventions and different ways of improving the metals. Then again, she wouldn't SHARE them. After all, she was... Kind of... Listening to the Princess as she explained the history of the forge. Alexis longed to try it, holding an iron in her hands and watching it clang against burning metal, sparks flying! Alas, she lacked the skill to do such things. But that didn't mean she couldn't dream. Alexis was a user of weapons, not a creator, but to her the workers constructing such intricate pieces of work was almost God-like.

About to go off again, Alexis was stopped by a question directed at her. She recomposed herself, thinking on the question and how to answer. "What drives me to fight the way I do...?" Alexis repeated, the general message still present. Would it truly be worth it to share her trials with the Prince? That she had to do this 'or else'? No... She would not portray such a disdaining image upon her kingdom. The Princess of Leo could take many actions in response to her tale and Alexis wanted that wouldn't lead to war and make her seem weak.

She laughed heartily, eyes lighting up. "Ah, ya got me. Then again, why would an Arian be all the way here in the mountains?" Alexis let her hands intertwine behind her, looking at where they were going. "I am to fight the Prince of Aries in a few months. I've been traveling for a while, going through the different kingdoms to pick up fighting styles." She looked over at the Princess with a grin. "It was truly a pleasure to fight with you, Princess. I've learned much that I will need to know before the battle between myself and the Prince."

Princess Zari Leo

Zari chuckled softly. Alexis' words reminded Zari how she got to the throne. "Well I wish you best of luck to that fight. I have to say I have never been really fond of that Prince of yours. He's so full of himself. The few occasions I have met him... I wonder how the heck he even got the crown. No offense. Though I feel you don't really care my opinion about him." Zari smirked. This girl really was interesting. She had made the right chose to stick with her a bit longer.

Seeing how she admired the forges Zari decided to ask a question. "Say... Which weapon you specialize? We have few additional ones. Test pieces so to say but you're perfectly capable of using the in deadly manners if you wish." Zari spoke while leading her guest to a storage room opening the lock with her own key. Behind the door was revealed a storage room size of a house full of shelves and display cases of weapons - each one of them unique. "No one really does anything with these anymore. Would you like to have one?" Zari turned to Alexis to see her reaction. "Oh and if you promise to use it in your grand finale, I give it to you for free." She winked.

Their stories were similar which made Zari think about her father and his teachings. Zari was going to trust her instincts and help this woman a bit more. "You know I was once fighting to challenge the Prince just like you. Or should I say someone who everyone were expecting to become the next Prince. I proved them wrong. Twice. First by beating the prince-to-come and then by showing that a woman can rule a country. And I was seventeen. So.... Kick his ass and prove that women are stronger than men."

Alexis Conall - Prior to Princessdom

“Weapon I specialize in?” Alexis asked, a bit confused. She thought a bit, tilting her head this way and that to contemplate her practices. Different weapons were always available wherever she went so she practiced with what she could… “I just practice with that’s available. Swords, bow staffs, axes, scythes… I’ve never really claimed a weapon as my own.” Was that a bad thing to not have done? In the Aries kingdom, everyone trained with the same weapons. Those who didn’t shared weapons. There wasn’t much of an individualization factor in her past military experience…

As the Princess lead her to a storage room, she followed, watching as the door was unlocked and she was allowed inside. Her eyes widened, scanning the room around her. This was impressively large for an arsenal. Her fingers trailed along the flat surfaces of the swords, gazing at their patterns. “Would I like to have one? I think I would. After all, these are extremely well made.” Not technically better than Aries weaponry but just as impressive in a different way. She blinked a bit when the Princess offered for her to have one. Alexis turned to her, shocked. “I can really keep one as my own?”

Excitement ran through her. A Leo weapon! How awesome would that be? Her eyes already wanted to part from the Princess’s to see which to claim as her own. Yet, an anxiety rose from her stomach. She knew she could master any of the weapons in the room to some extent but which one would be her trademark weapon? Her attention returned to the Princess as she encouraged her. She listened to her account, her own memories returning to the moment she was tasked with training for 3 years straight. The Princess said to kick his ass… But Alexis didn’t want to fight. Yet, a part of her, her prideful heart, refused to be insulted in such a way. Part of her refused to let this Prince walk all over her. Vengeance was necessary.

Alexis turned her eyes to the weaponry around them, feeling extremely homesick. Her eyes settled on something familiar and somewhat out of place in the Leo arsenal. Coming over, Alexis picked up the curving sword, resting it in her hands. The scimitar was quite simple, with a long reach. However, it was a slashing weapon, one with more precision and more of a curve than other swords… Yet, it had the wider width, like an attempt of mimicking a long sword. Alexis held it in her hand, giving it a slash here and there. It was heavier than a usual scimitar, too… “This is a very strange weapon you have here. Scimitar’s aren’t usually made like this.” She made another slash, both hands on the hilt. “Not very practical as one either.”

Princess Zari Leo

Zari listened her in surprise. Never having an signature weapon? That was rare in her Kingdom. "It's indeed good to practice different weapons and different styles to fight. However when you find a weapon of your own, you can combine the styles you have done with other weapons to the one you wield most and great your unique style of fight. For example the move you saw me doing before was based on this." She snatched a spear from nearby wall, took couple of running steps, struck the blade of the spear on ground and waved herself over the spear on the other side landing beautifully balanced. She turned back to her smirking. She loved to show her skills even a little at time.

She nodded. "Sure you can. As I said no one uses these anymore. It's pretty much like a museum. Museum that's way too full." she added the last sentence quieter, mostly to herself. She watched as Alexis was like a kid in a candy store chuckling in her mind. Most like Zari would have acted the same.

As Alexis picked up the scimitar and estimated it Zari walked closer. "It's true they're not usually like that one but as I told, this room is full of weapons the blacksmiths have been made their own visions of. May I see it for a second?" she asked and as she got it she observed it closely holding it first in her right hand, then left, and switched back and forth. " Just as I thought. This is balanced for left-handed. That's why it feels weird when you try to hold it in your right." It was rare that swords was that specifically balanced but it was one of the secrets of the Leo weapons. Zari's claymore had been balanced only for herself which made it feel perfect in her hand. "Let's see, there should be it's counterpart somewhere...." Zari muttered looking around her, noticing it on the lower shelf. She took it, and hold it in her right hand easily even if it was pretty heavy. She slashed it in the air stepping around moving faster and faster dancing with the weapon. She then offered it to her. "Want to try?"

Alexis Conall Aries - Prior to Princessdom

She watched quietly, seeing how the Princess quickly explained what was wrong with the weapon and went to retrieve a more proper one for her. Despite this, her eyes returned to the original scimitar, the one meant for left handed warriors. As the Princess offered Alexis the one for right handed people, she already knew she didn't want that one. It was childish, she understood, but the moment she had picked up that left handed scimitar, the moment she had swung it, feeling its grip in her hand, the uneasiness of it, she had bonded with it. Alexis needed something reckless and nearly unmasterable. She needed that scimitar.

With the shake of her head, Alexis held up a hand to show she didn't want the right handed one, going over to the original one. "I'd actually prefer this one. It's just... Got that feeling, you know?" She picked it up, tossing it over to her left hand and performing some uneasy slashes and stabs with it. There would be a lot of work involved. "I want this one. I will master this one." Suddenly, Alexis tossed it in the air. The blade spin, hilt over blade over hilt. She mediocrely caught it, fingers trying to get used to the feeling. She didn't use her left hand. But for this weapon, she would. Alexis turned to look at the Princess. "I truly appreciate your assistance but I stay to my original choice."
