P E R S O N A L I T Y
Mycah has changed a great deal since the last anyone saw him. He'd joined the war with the Demons along side his master, Thomas Vincent, who'd taken him in when he was young, and saved him from the fighting pit in the Dragon realm. It was after they lost as his master was killed that Mycah retreated into himself. He went off, once the war was lost, and focused on his training, hiding his emotions. He is quite, stand-offish, but still has a soft spot for women and children. There are moments where the old Mycah appears, in a joke or a laugh, but he's never stays long.

ImageImageImage"I do want that." He said, much to Sunday's relief. His arms came around her and she felt herself melt into him, much like she always had before he broke the world. "More than words alone could describe..." He said and Sunday looked up at him, watching his eyes. She spoke the truth when she said she would not stop her father from killing him should he chose to do so. It was a strange conflict in her mind because she hadn't forgiven him for what he did, he hadn't earned that yet, and honestly deserved the punishment for what he did to her father. He allowed his twin sister, someone her father had be with his entire life to be burned alive, along with his uncle, and his mother to be captured and his daughter to be captured and give birth alone in a cell in the demon realm. In her mind, Simon needed to be the one to exact punishment, however, he saw fit. However, Sunday felt relief that she wasn't alone in how she felt for him, she loved him, he'd been the only one man she'd ever loved, the first thing she'd ever loved. For the longest time, he was all she had. It was clear that wouldn't go away anytime soon, she felt good to know that she wasn't alone in this.

She rose her hand to his face, his new face, brushing a thumb of his new skin. She wondered if it helped that he no longer looked like himself, if she'd seen his old face, the one that betrayed her would she feel the same. Could you change bak if you wanted?" She asked him. "I don't want you too, it's much too dangerous, but could you, if you wanted?"

Image
ImageImageImageA massive black dragon cirlced the sky like a vulture in the desert, burning demon strongholds, the beast roared it's flames down on the creatures. Banking into a dive to pluck, a lone demon from the ground and gnash the thing between massive jagged teeth and spitting the contents to the earth. He was sure to look out for Fae prisons and had freed a few. he hoped they found Prince Simon, the dragon knew he led the rebellion but he dare not show his face to the Prince with his niece still out there. The thought of her fueled his fire and he roared again, his massive wings flapping hard making the fires from his maw burn brighter, engulfing everything it touched. He did not want to find her, she hurt him, in more ways than one, and she knew it and she felt nothing. He'd only wished he'd felt the same. Dragons love only once and he made the mistake of loving her. the dragon landed with a ground-shaking thud, swiping his spiked tail, knocking down forts, and scout towers, hitting the occasional demon, splattering the demon against the dirt. Lord Thomas made him promise to find her, he knew as well that she'd been changed against her will but she'd violated him and laughed about it. Changed or not, she knew what she was doing. The change itself was not her doing, of course not, he knew that it was everything after, she didn't try to fight it, she embraced it, and that was hurt and caused his current rage.

That and she was close. The Mark he'd had etched onto his chest was burning hot. She was close and it was his Lord's final wish for him to find her. He did not want to. He did know what he dead, but he did not want to know her.

Alec watched her with caution as she lifted a hand to his face, caressing the cheek she'd not long struck in anger at the mere sight of him. He was a creature of the Supernatural, and so of course the pain had already faded, without a single mark left behind, but he still had to fight against the urge to flinch. "Could you change back if you wanted?" she asked, and he pursed his lips a little. "I don't want you to, it's much too dangerous, but could you, if you wanted?" It was not a strange question, regardless he found himself a little hesitant to answer.

After a slight pause, Alec shook his head slowly. "I'm afraid that version of myself is lost now," he began with a shrug. "Besides... My body will already have decayed beyond repair, even if I knew where it was," he continued, knowing that would leave him open to more questions that he really didn't want to have to answer in that moment. He gave a sigh and shook his head again. "But that doesn't matter now, because I would never want to go back to that body," he admitted, his tone firm. "People will never forget what I have done, but maybe... if I prove myself, they won't look at me and only see the man that ruined their lives." Alec looked away then, his arms threatening to fall to his sides, much that he wanted to hold Sunday.

"I also can't trust that Victoria wouldn't be able to find me, with her little scouts reporting my every move," he continued, finally meeting her gaze. The Queen may have been a sensitive topic for Sunday, but if he was going to clear the air, he wasn't going to make it known what she did. "She knows I won't let Alexis be harmed... Ever since she began using her as a method of manipulation, she's been practically untouchable. Who knows what else she'd make me do..."

It wasn't long at all before the peace of the camp was disrupted. Loud footsteps in the distance caused Eida to turn her head with a frown, only to see one of her own scouts sprinting into the centre of the camp, where the others were sat eating their meals. The woman's eyes shifted right to left before settling on Eida. "There's been a dragon spotted nearby," she barked across the fire, and in that same second Eida was on her feet, sword in hand, visibly panicked.

Eida seldom showed fear nowadays, unless the threat might affect Hotaru, but every time she heard that word, she let herself think that it could be him...

Kaenne was on his feet also, child still in his arms, and Eida turned to him. "You'll stay he-" she was cut off when Kaenne handed Hotaru off on someone else and shortly after shook his head. "Dragons are powerful, I'm not letting you go alone. Hotaru will be fine here," he told her. Much that she wanted to object to that, she didn't have a whole lot of time to waste complaining, so instead she nodded and started off after the scout with Kaenne and several others at her heels.

It wasn't long before they spotted it. A black mass in the sky, circling the area and apparently attacking everything in its sights. Much that Eida squinted, she couldn't see it clearly enough in the night sky. "Will you give the order to attack?" Kaenne yelled over the noise. She shook her head without looking at him, trying to think of an excuse as to why they couldn't attack a dangerous flying beast that could potentially threaten not only their lives, but the lives of everyone that fought with them... As well as Hotaru. She just couldn't give that order. "We don't know that it's not... friendly," she called back, and even in the black of night she saw the look on Kaenne's face and sighed. "Well it doesn't look very bloody friendly, Eida! It could attack our camp just as easy."

Soon enough it landed, and by this point those that had joined her already had their bows drawn, arrows alight. After receiving no real answer from Eida, Kaenne gave the order instead. She could only stand and watch as the arrows shot forth in the dragon's direction, hoping that they would not hit it, only grab its attention. She readied her sword in case it was the former.

ImageImageImageThe arrows caught him off guard. Thoughts of what he might encounter--who he would encounter caused him to miss the flying pieces of metal and wood. Not that it mattered, they couldn't penetrate the armored scales, even though a few of them were missing and flesh was exposed, those were old wounds, though, and they were not easily accessible. The beast turned in the direction of the shooters and roared in annoyance. He'd long since learned to speak in this form. It would have been a glorious day for him had he not learned alone, without his master there to help him celebrate, nor was the woman he loved. She wouldn't recognize him when he spoke.

His large yellow eyes watched the group, wondering why they were attacking sine this was a demon stronghold he had been tearing asunder but then he took a sniff. Their camp must have been nearby. He shook his massive head and blew air from his nostrils.

"PEACE, I ONLY ATTACK DEMONS," his voice sounded nothing like his human one. It was loud, booming, with a snarl and growl in its cadence. His large eyes feel on her and he growled. The Mark burning, warning him to run away but he wouldn't. It would keep him from doing something foolish. He was certain she knew it was him. She'd riding on his back in this form, enjoyed it greatly, ran her hand over his many scars, but just in case, he questioned "Day Girl?" He knew full way it was her, but he wanted to see her reaction. If she was anything like she'd used to be.

Eida felt Kaenne's arm stretching across her chest, his large figure ready to block her from potential harm as the creature made its annoyance clear to the group. Under the light of the flames she could see the beast much easier, and as her eyes scanned it she felt she recognised it somehow. With her free hand she tried to lower Kaenne's arm, but it would not budge.

"PEACE, I ONLY ATTACK DEMONS," its voice boomed. She felt her shoulders falter with disappointment, and she looked down at the ground. She knew Mycah could not speak in that form, and even if he had learned how, it sounded nothing like him. It was only when she heard a growl that she looked up again, noting that its eyes were trained on her and no one else.

"Day Girl?"

Those words hit her like a ton of bricks, and her eyes widened slightly. She was both relieved and terrified at the same time, because at long last they had been reunited, but would he be happy to see her after everything that happened? And then there was Hotaru. How could she up and tell him he had a daughter?

Before she even knew what she was doing, she was side-stepping Kaenne, much to his annoyance. He reached out, taking a hold of her arm, only for her to roughly tug it from his grip, not breaking eye contact with the massive creature she began walking towards. As she went, she let her sword fall to the floor, and her head tilted to one side as she approached it. Only something blocked her way, and for some strange reason she just... stopped.

"Mycah..." she breathed, cautiously keeping her voice low. She recognised this Dragon, she was sure... She'd ridden on its back once, called it handsome in spite of its countless scars, and even kissed its snout. It was very obvious that this Dragon was in fact Mycah, but doubt still plagued her mind. "Mycah, is that you?" she asked, her voice considerably louder this time. "I can't... Why can't I come any closer?"

ImageImageImage "Mycah..." She breathed, and the beast said nothing. This could be another one of her tricks, she had been much like the Fae of old, tricking their prey into subservience. He would not allow her to do that again. She'd stepped forward but could move no closer to him. The mark on his chest burned hot even in this form, but he was used to the pain now. "Mycah, is that you? I can't...Why can't I come any closer?

The beast turned to face her some, he had a bit of a blindspot in this form, due to his side facing eyes, but he turned his head regardless, she was far enough away that she wasn't in his blindspot. "Because I do not allow it." He said, both confirming her suspicions but voicing one of his own. "My mission was to find you, make sure you yet live, that mission is complete." He said and he knew it was old but it still hurt, he still remembered, however, he was certain that if she were back to her old self, she wouldn't let that stand, she was a fighter, it was one of the many things he loved about her and one of the many reasons why it hurt so badly that she let what happened to her, consume her so. He spread his wings, preparing to fly, the wind kicked up and he caught a whiff of something, someone., a dragon nearby. He lowered, trying to catch the scent, but it was faint. and it lingered on both Eida and the large dark skinned man that seemed to attempt to protect her from him. It was young, but still a dragon. He hadn't seen or smelled one of his own kind in ages, there were only a few Dragons in the realm and they had been since blocked from entering this world since portals were no longer possible. So who was this dragon and how did it get here?

So, he called to it, the dragon, by puffing smoke into the air, to the others it would be nothing but a huff, but to the dragon any dragon nearby, it was a signal, something that called to them in a way that only they could see without even knowing it, had to answer...

"Because I do not allow it," he replied. "My mission was to find you, make sure you yet live, that mission is complete."

Eida glared at him like he was the most hideous creature she'd ever seen, the pain evident in her eyes while her expression was one of anger. She thought to expect a reaction like this but for some strange reason it still caught her off guard, and she had to remind herself to breathe again. Watching as he prepared to take flight, she said not a word, more than prepared to let him go, but it was as if something suddenly caught his attention. A scent.

She allowed herself to think the worst almost instantly. She could sense her own kind from a mile away, maybe it was the same for Dragons. If he was going to act like this, there was no way in Hell she was going to tell him about Hotaru. Not yet, anyway.

Bending down suddenly, her hand went to the nearest rock, and in that same second the hurled it in his direction, knowing it would miss; it was only to distract his attention. "Hey!" she yelled. "What are you even talking about, your mission?" she continued, trying not to snarl her words, swapping her angered tone for a more confused one. There was shuffling from behind her and she didn't even have to look to know that Kaenne was hovering over her.

"I'm not expecting you to stand here and listen to me, to accept any kind of apology or to forgive the shit that I did to you, but if you know where my family are, you will tell me," she demanded, though there was hope in her eyes. "Did... Did my parents send you? My mother?"

ImageImageImageThe dragon sighed when the rock whizzed by. "Hey!" she hissed. That was a very 'Eida' thing to do. If he had an eyebrow to arch in this form, he would have. He was surprised she didn't hit him with it. "What are you even talking about, your mission?" She asked, while the others that she was with, prepared themselves for a fight. She was their leader, the dragon figured. Again, a very Eida thing to do. Perhaps she had fought the change? He dared not hope, though, she'd toyed with him like that before. "I'm not expecting you to stand here and listen to me, to accept any kind of apology or to forgive the shit that I did to you, but if you know where my family are, you will tell me," The dragon stiffened, his yellow eyes wide. "Did... Did my parents send you? My mother?" She asked, a light touched her eyes. Hope. The Dragon huffed and decided this would be best in human form. In a plume of smoke and ash, the dragon disappeared and a male appeared, dressed in full battle regalia, his sharp almond shaped eyes painted over with a black smear. He looked fierce but the look in his eyes softened his features. The changed Eida tried to kill her mother, but the look in Eid'as eyes now, confirmed, she was, in fact, her old self. "Eida..." He began which he knew was already a bad sign. He rarely called her her name if he were in a good mood. His gaze lowered and he bowed, a knee and a fist to the ground, as was custom in his world, respect for the departed. "You're Mother, Father, Great Uncle and Two Cousins, Prince Andrew and Princess Ashley all were slain some months after the world changed..." He said and rose a hand to his forehead then raised it up, most respect for the dead. He got to his feet again but didn't raise his gaze to her Your uncle made me swear to find you, knowing what his fate was to be, I was there to free him but....He insisted I find you, told me it was my mission. It was a Fae trick but it worked, he sent me away so that I would not too, meet my end." He said and frowned. Remembering the embrace he gave him before he left. Lord Thomas said goodbye, Mycah hadn't wanted to but he did and it wasn't enough, he couldn't imagine what Eida would be going through this moment. "I am sorry Day Girl." He told her softly. "If it helps, there are rumors that there is a rebellion, lead by your Uncle, Prince Simon, his daughter the Princess is with him too, so they say, they were from the lips of a Fae so there may hold some truth to it." He offered but they were only rumors, the Fae could tell rumors if they truly believed them to be true.

Despite the distance between them, Eida instinctively took a few steps back as the Dragon went up in a plume of smoke. Kaenne must have been standing closer than either of them realised, because she bumped into him with a gasp, and turned to face him with a glare. He backed up almost immediately, and when Eida turned back, a familiar figure stood in place of the beast.

"Eida..." he began, and she swallowed, knowing it was foolish to be so concerned by his saying her actual name. She'd always been his Day Girl, and despite their past it felt strange to be called anything else. The thought was quickly discarded, however, as Mycah began a strange gesture. She narrowed her eyes, confusion shifting her features. "Your Mother, Father, Great Uncle and two cousins, Prince Andrew and Princess Ashley all were slain some months after the world changed..."

It was as if the world slowed in that moment and Eida felt a sudden pain in her chest, breath hitching in her throat. Her eyes found Mycah, who was continuing his ridiculous gesture. She honestly felt like slapping him, but refrained from doing so because regardless of how much the news struck her, it was not his doing nor his fault. Before long he was on his feet, though Eida's eyes were trailing off elsewhere, her mind practically buzzing with questions.

"Your uncle made me swear to find you, knowing what his fate was to be, I was there to free him but... He insisted I find you, told me it was my mission. It was a Fae trick but it worked, he sent me away so that I would not too, meet my end," he continued. Eida finally released a heavy exhale, feeling a hand on her back.

"I am sorry Day Girl." Eida's gaze returned to him, tears in her eyes that she would not let fall, under any circumstances. "It it helps, there are rumors that there is a rebellion, led by your Uncle, Prince Simon, his daughter the Princess is with him too, so they say, they were from the lips of a Fae so there may hold some truth to it."

There was a long moment of silence as Eida gave herself a moment to breathe, to process everything she was being told. It was if it was all going in one ear and out the other. Her legs felt weak, and she would have given anything to let all her emotions out at once, but shook her head. She would not cry in front of anyone, least of all Mycah. After lifting her gaze from the floor finally, she huffed. "T-thank you for telling me," she spoke, loud enough that he could hear, but it was evident she was not in any mood to talk. She picked her sword from the ground, and looked towards the forest, before her eyes found Mycah.

"We will seek the Rebellion you mentioned... If they wish to change this world then they'll need all the help they can get." She almost opened her mouth to speak once more but seemingly stopped herself. She didn't quite know how to say it, but... He had been considerate enough to break the news of her parents' death to her so gently, despite everything, that she thought she owed him something in return. Her heart was breaking in more ways than she could describe, but Mycah was the father of her child and he deserved to know as much. "I don't know where you intend to go now... I suppose it's not really my business to know. But there is something you must know," she told him. "Would you accompany us to our camp? There is someone I want you to meet... I think you already sensed them earlier."

ImageImageImage Mycah watched her closely. She seemed as if she would fall over but she wouldn't let herself show her emotion. Again, a very Eida thing to do. He was tempted to reach out to her, hold her close and tell her he was there and he wouldn't leave but he couldn't. For the mark on his skin and the one on his heart. "T-thank you for telling me," She said and Mycah gave a single nod. This was his Day girl, he knew it, the way she spoke, the way she moved. He was certain she was back to her old self again but he was so weary, terrified to have his heart broken again and he couldn't bring himself to accept it. He wouldn't ask her here or now, not with the news she'd just learned. He did find himself no longer wanting to leave. Despite the mark.

"We will seek the Rebellion you mentioned... If they wish to change this world then they'll need all the help they can get." HShe said, back to business and again, he merely nodded. He was helping as best he could without actually being with them. It seemed wrong to him somehow knowing he hadn't kept his promise, but now, he could. She was alive, and now that he knew she was, it was his duty to protect her. Lord Thomas never said it, but it was implied. He knew that it would keep Mycah from seeking justice and Mycah let the trick work. He was a man of his word, he promised to find her and he would have to protect her. Whether she liked it or not. General Alexander gave him the ability to will away the mark if he so choose, Mycah was grateful for the foresight.

"I don't know where you intend to go now... I suppose it's not really my business to know. But there is something you must know," she said and Mycah frowned a little. HShe said, him specifically. Why? "Would you accompany us to our camp? There is someone I want you to meet... I think you already sensed them earlier." She said and Mycah blinked. "The young dragon, yes, I did," He said and nodded. [color=#e80000]"I will accompany you."[/olor] He told her with a stiff nod. He was a bit excited all of a sudden. To meet another of his kind. one that was younger than him. It would be his duty to not only protect it but to teach it, help it grow into a full dragon like Lord Thomas had for him. He could only hope to be half the man or dragon Lord Thomas was, and Lord Thomas wasn't a dragon at all. Mycah gestured ahead, already knowing where the dragon was, more or less.

"The young dragon, yes, I did." Eida nodded in response, figuring as much. "I will accompany you," he added, which gave her some sense of relief, but also filled her with a great deal of panic and nervousness. She did not know how he would react to seeing Hotaru and learning that she was his child, and even less so how that would affect them. Chances are he would not just turn and leave. Was she prepared to have him around all the time? If she showed him Hotaru, she might not have any choice in it at all.

Still, even with all the thoughts that raced through her mind, she turned and began to walk ahead at his gesture, meanwhile turning to Kaenne and giving him a nod. The man seemingly picked up on the unspoken command and broke into a run, heading in the direction of the camp.

It was a very long, very quiet walk back. Eida handed her sword off to someone else and had instead wrapped her arms around herself, eyes shifting every which way as they went. Much that she wanted to distract herself from thoughts of her mother and how they left things before she died, Eida wanted to avoid talking to Mycah even more. She didn't even so much as glance in his general direction until they came to the borders of the small camp, and despite the distance between them, she turned to him and held up her hand as if to gesture for him to stay while she walked on.

Kaenne walked forward, cradling Hotaru in his arms. The child was looking around, almost searching for someone or something. Eida frowned a little but it didn't take long to figure out why. Eida held out her arms, and Kaenne rather hesitantly passed her over. She stood there for a good few moments, before taking a breath and finally turning around.

"Mycah, I would like you to meet Hotaru," she began. "She is... your daughter."

ImageImageImageThe closer they got to the camp, the more nervous Mycah became. Could he do this? Could he take on this young dragon as his ward as was done for him? Would he be able to train him or her in the ways of his kind? What damage had already been done to the poor thing that it ended up here? Mycah tried to calm his mind as Eida went to retrieve the young dragon. It was a shock that the dragon hadn't come to meet them. How young was it?

Mycah soon found out why.

Mycah, I would like you to meet Hotaru," Eida said, cradling a little girl in her arms. The child's eyes were searching and found his and Mycah froze under her little gaze. Those eyes... "She is... your daughter." Mycah stumbled back a bit, the wind leaving his chest as if he'd been struck. Daughter? He had a daughter. He couldn't deny it. One she was a dragon, she heard his call and had she been old enough, she would have answered, probably already tried, but then it was those eyes. They were shaped like his, but it was within them that told him, she was his. Mycah wanted to reach for the girl but couldn't, The mark hindering him because Eida held the girl. It took but a thought for the Mark to fade away and Eida was able to reach him now. He didn't care. He had a child, whatever was going on between them, not longer mattered. Mycah reached for the girls face, tears touching his eyes. Mycah had ben an orphan, he didn't have a family of his own until Lord Thomas. All of that changed now. He was a father now, he had a family in this little girl. He took a step, and then another and another until he was close enough to touch the little girl. He conception was not ideal, for the most part, he'd been taken advantage of in a way similar to what had originally changed Eida but that was bygones in his mind, looking down at the girl. He smiled softly, his breath held as he spoke. "Hello, Little one." He breathed, and looked at Eida, he was smiling, softly, tears in his eyes as if she'd be just born today. If he'd not been so stubborn, he could have found her sooner, and maybe could have been present for her birth. He touched the small girls face, his hands felt rough against her soft skin but she didn't seem to mind. Her name was Hotaru, Firefly. His little firefly. He smiled at that. All was forgiven in Mycah's mind, Eida had paid him back by giving him a child, a family, giving him a title that he never thought he'd wear. Father. That's what he was now. "May I...hold her?" He asked. She was just as much Eida's child as his, so it was only fair he'd ask, besides that Eida seemed to have moved on a little, he wasn't blind to the man who carried his daughter like she was his own. He was grateful and a bit annoyed by that but he swallowed it. Nothing else mattered now, nothing but his daughter.

Eida allowed Mycah a moment or two to process the news. It must have been shocking to him, because to her recollection she had not known him to stumble at anything. She still held Hotaru close to her chest, not able to judge where his stunned reaction would lead. Although Kaenne, by this point, seemed to have taken the hint and found things to do elsewhere.

While her eyes were on her little girl, she was very much aware that Mycah was moving closer and closer, and she looked up only when he reached for her face. She couldn't stop him, of course, but she was wary regardless. He seemed to be taking the news a little better now, she thought, as there was a smile on his lips. She couldn't help but gape at him a little. It had been so long since she'd seen that smile, and she fought the urge to look away. "Hello, little one," he spoke to Hotaru, but shortly directed a smile at her. Eida could do nothing but stare.

"May I... hold her?" he asked. Eida could understood that, and appreciated the fact that he'd asked beforehand. It made her think that maybe this could work.

Still, she hesitated a little, before nodding. "Of course," she replied, trying a smile. She waited for him to be ready, before stepping a little closer, setting her down in his arms. She stepped back a little to allow them some room, but was close enough that he could grab either one of them if Mycah tried anything. She knew she should trust him, but an entire year was a long time to be apart from someone, and they didn't exactly part on the best of terms.

"I guess it goes without saying that I would like for you to be part of her life," she told him, her voice quiet. "But I'll... I'll understand if you have other things to do first." She didn't know Mycah as well as she would like, but at the very least she knew that if given the choice he would seek vengeance for Tommy's death. She would most certainly seek vengeance for the death of her parents, which was undoubtedly her brother's doing. Even if he didn't do it with his own two hands, he at least let it happen. If given the chance she would choke the life out of him for everyone to see.

Eida felt a little awkward trying to maintain eye contact with Mycah as he looked up at her, and struggled to do so for the longest time. She cursed herself mentally for being this way. Of course she still loved Mycah, and she was glad he was back in her life again, but nowadays she was far more closed off than she'd ever been, and it worked for her well enough. It was rare, if at all, that she struggled to look someone in the eye.

"My Day Girl, you've given me the best gift I could ever hope to receive, there is no place I'd rather be, than here with her..." he told her. They both looked down at Hotaru then, and Eida couldn't help but smile lightly. More than anything else, she was glad that the child now had both of her parents around to love and care for her. The two had taken to each other much faster than Eida thought they might, and she did not doubt Mycah would be a good father. "And you, if you so wish," he continued, drawing her from her thoughts.

Eida looked down at the hand that Mycah offered her for a moment, then back up at him. It was a peculiar offer, she thought, and one that she had not at all expected to come from him then. After everything they'd been through, it only took one glance at his daughter for him to put it all behind him and want to start again? She wasn't one to knock a good opportunity but something about it just didn't feel right. Perhaps because she hadn't had to work to make it right...

Even then, as she looked down at his hand, she couldn't stop herself and ended up slipping her own hand into his, her expression soft despite the lack of a smile. "Well, we kind of come as a package deal," she joked, and then - without thinking - she glanced behind herself. She so badly wanted to focus on Mycah and their child, but she worried for Kaenne and what he would think of this situation... For the past year, he'd been there to help her through everything. He helped raise Hotaru as if she was his own daughter. He was, for want of a better term, her best friend. And she had no doubt in her mind that this would hurt him. But he was nowhere to be seen.

Eida turned back to the pair and, with her free hand, fixed Hotaru's shirt which had wrinkled and ridden up a bit. "It's getting late," she stated, retracting her hand and looking at Mycah. "We like to head out at the crack of dawn and... Well, if you think she's precious now, you've no idea what she's like when she's tired and grumpy." She then stood, pulling her other hand from his. "You're welcome to stay in our tent for the night, if you'd like to put her to bed yourself and all that..." she offered, knowing he might not want to part ways with his daughter just yet. Besides, there was no where else for him to sleep but outside, and she wasn't about to let him do that, no matter how awkward it would be to have him in her tent. "It's just this way," she began, gesturing to a nearby tent, and waited for him to respond before moving.

ImageImageImage Mycah closed his hands around hers as she slipped hers into it. He smiled. He wanted so much to hold her again and it had pained him to even think of her. Now, knowing that not only they shared a child, she was her old self again. "Well, we kind of come as a package deal," She said and he chuckled. "I wouldn't have it any other way." He said with a grin but it faded when she turned to look behind her. That other male, he figured. They were close, perhaps closer than Mycah was comfortable with. It was his own fault for leaving her alone so long but she said yes, more or less, the man will just have to deal with that.

Hotaru reached up tugging at his dark locks calling his attention again and he smiled, it was as if she wanted his attention. When he looked at her, she giggled and gurgled still gripping his hair, while her mother, adjusted her shirt. "It's getting late," She said looking up at him. She sounded like a mother, she wore it well. He hoped he could do the same. "We like to head out at the crack of dawn and... Well, if you think she's precious now, you've no idea what she's like when she's tired and grumpy." She told him and Mycah chuckled. I can imagine."

Children dragons were not the easiest to deal with, the orphanage where he grew up had plenty of young ones, most of the time when they threw a fit, something caught fire. He hoped that Eida didn't have too much trouble with her, with any lucky, Hotaru hadn't developed her fire yet.

"You're welcome to stay in our tent for the night if you'd like to put her to bed yourself and all that..." She asked and Mycah looked up at her, honored by the privilege. It would be strange no doubt for him to share the tent with her after all this time, but it was a step that she wanted him there and she was allowing him the time with his daughter.

My Daughter...He thought. He had a daughter. A little girl for him to protect, to teach, he had that now. He had a family now. "I'd like that, thank you." He said."It's just this way,"

He nodded and he followed her with Hotaru in his arms. He bounced her a little and she cooed a few times, before laying against his chest. He didn't want her to, not with the hard armor he wore, luckily it wasn't as blood covered as it usually had been, if it had, he wouldn't have even touched her.
They reached the tent and Mycah ducked inside after Eida. Afters he showed him where Hotaru slipped, he pulled the little girl from his chest and laid her down. The little thing blinked slowly and Mycah smiled. She was sleepy and it wouldn't be long. He would be sure to be by her side when she woke, in the morning and every morning after if he could help it. He would not miss another day. "Has she developed her fire yet?" He asked Eida with a low voice so not to wake Hotaru as she dozed. It happened at different times for each child, some started as early as birth, some didn't develop until they were speaking age. He was the latter. If she had, Eida would have known by now. "It would come as little sparks if she coughed, or embers or even a scent of kerosene?" He told Eida as he removed his armor and set them aside, he wore a soft sleeveless black and red tunic as he'd always done since it changed with him. He set his weapon belt aside and sat beside Hotaru, keeping his hand brushing her dark hair. Before she could answer, Mycah's expression grew sullen. "I should have been here...I could have been here. I am so sorry, Eida, I could have found you, I just didn't try hard." He said, looking down at Hotaru as she slipped off to sleep. "I am so sorry, to both of you."

Image
ImageImageImageAlice cocked her head, listening. He was afraid of her. It wasn't new but she was surprised. Th-That's.... Very insightful of you." He said and she smiled.

"How fun is it if only one of the players can win the game? I came here to give the Fae a fair chance, Or at least try my best to give them that. My queen might be mean, But that is her role in this world, This is mine. But it's still completely possibly to divert just a little from that predetermined path. And I would love for you to help me off that path, and maybe even follow" Alice frowned. She didn't want to follow him, or anybody. Alice looked behind him and to the guards.
"I do wonder, Which one of us could be considered the most terrifying" He said and she shrugged. "Me, Cause I'm little, and I don't look like much." She said and sat down in the grass and pulled up the blades. "And Jabberwocky isn't a demon slayer name, it's a name in a book, it's a big monster, here let me show you." She said and stood up again, and went to her tent quickly and came back with a book in her hand. Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There She sat down and looked up at him. " Here sit, let me show you." She said and cracked open the book and began reading along.
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves. Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogoves, and the mome raths outgrabe. Beware the Jabberwock, my son!The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
She looked up at him and pointed to the page and the illustration printed on there. "You remind me of this."she said. "See, Look" She said and looking up at him with a smile.

Eida watched with a warm smile as Mycah set his daughter down in her bed. He looked at her as if he's known her for her entire life, and despite the shyness that Hotaru often displayed, she'd taken to her father in an instant. Eida was certainly grateful for the lack of awkwardness in that respect. It meant that, even for all the shit they'd have to endure daily, she could still have her little family.

"Has she developed her fire yet? he asked after a moment, as Eida slipped under her covers so she could undress without being seen. It was nothing he hadn't seen before, of course, but they weren't in that place any longer, and she wasn't about to parade herself in front of him half-dresses. With a slight frown, she prepared herself to answer, but he spoke again. "It would come as little sparks if she coughed, or embers or even a scent of kerosene?" he persisted, and she smiled at his eagerness. He wanted to know if she took after him at all. Unfortunately Eida could not lie, much that she wanted to tell him that Hotaru had already developed her flame, as it were. Before she could even answer, she noted the shift in his expression and she frowned, fearing the worst.

"I should have been here... I could have been here. I am so sorry, Eida, I could have found you, I just didn't try hard," he began, to which she replied with a click of her teeth. Having dressed into her night clothes, she pulled the blanket down and started towards him at the other side of the tent. "I am so sorry, to both of you," he added.

Eida placed a hand on his shoulder, and looked at him with affection in her eyes. "You're right, you could have been here. You should have been here," she told him, her tone gentle despite the bluntness of her words. "But you are no more to blame for your absence than I am. I could have found you too, but we're both very stubborn. It is I who should be sorry, for not telling you sooner. I wasn't in my right mind until she was born, and by that point... All this had happened," she continued, gesturing to the space around them. She reluctantly removed her hand from his shoulder but kept her smile regardless. "She's still young, Mycah, and already she adores you as if you'd been here every second of her life so far. It's not too late to make up for that lost time, trust me.'

It still felt strange talking to him again after so long apart but she hoped that her words could be of some comfort to him, however small.

ImageImageImageEida came over to him placing a hand on his shoulder. He reached up, placing a hand over hers. "You're right, you could have been here. You should have been here," She told him and Mycah winced. She was Fae, she could not lie and he normally appreciated that but it stung.
"But you are no more to blame for your absence than I am. I could have found you too, but we're both very stubborn. It is I who should be sorry, for not telling you sooner. I wasn't in my right mind until she was born, and by that point... All this had happened,"
She said and gestured to the world, not just the tent. "She's still young, Mycah, and already she adores you as if you'd been here every second of her life so far. It's not too late to make up for that lost time, trust me.' She said and Mycah smiled at her, before letting his eyes drifted downward again, nodding. "I do, trust you...and I'm glad your back," He said softly. Not wanting to bring up what she'd done to him or even how Hotaru came to be because they hadn't done anything before then, and truth be told, it was his first time for any of it. It didn't matter now, he was glad it happened because he had his baby girl and it seemed that she'd been the one to undo what had been done to Eida. Mycah looked up at her and then to their daughter. "We are parents, you and I. Can you believe it?" He asked. He was unsure of how he was able to create such a beautiful little creature. according to Eida, she'd been shy normally, but that was the dragon in her, drawn to the dragon in him, he wondered how much of her was hm and how much was Eida. He then thought of Lord Thomas. The look he would have on his face had he learned of this. Mycah could feel the clap on his back in congratulations. He closed his eyes. Fury stirred within him but he quelled it. It might disturb the baby."We have to make this world a better place for her, our vengeance needs to be put aside, it will consume us if we do not." He said looked up at her. "Whatever comes, for us, She will be what keeps us fighting." He wasn't really telling her that for her sake but for his. "One day, she will know peace, I won't have it any other way."

"I do, trust you... and I'm glad you're back," Mycah replied, his eyes no longer on her but instead on Hotaru, who was sleeping soundly in her bundle of pelts and sheets. She almost allowed herself to get down on her knees beside him, but caught herself before she could. She had to remind herself of her boundaries, even if she'd set them in her own mind. Mycah was her first true love, and would probably be her last, but she would not let herself fall head over heels for him again within the first hour of being in his presence. Even touching his shoulder and his hand put ideas in her head she'd sooner not have affecting her every action.

She felt his eyes on her suddenly, but when she looked up from her daughter, he was looking down at her again. Eida chewed her lip a little, her eyes tracing him carefully. "We are parents, you and I. Can you believe it?" he asked her, and after a slight delay she couldn't help but chuckle light-heartedly, despite herself. She wondered briefly if he'd continue to feel so overjoyed when he was stuck changing her nappy ten times a day, or trying to bathe her. "You'll get used to the idea eventually," she replied with a half smile, although suddenly the mood around him shifted, and her smile quickly disappeared, her entire body tensing.

"We have to make this world a better place for her, our vengeance needs to be put aside, it will consume us if we do not," he began, and the confusion formed a deep frown on her features as he looked up at her. "Whatever comes, for us, she will be what keeps us fighting," he continued. "One day, she will know peace, I won't have it any other way." After a heavy silence, Eida sighed. She knew she had to give up on seeking vengeance on her brother, which had initially been for destroying the world, but her reasoning had since become a lot more personal than that. Mycah spoke the truth; it would be for Hotaru's own good. But Eida knew the world would never truly be a better place with that man wandering around, living his life as if he deserved to have one at all.

"You are not wrong, Mycah," she told him. "But Hotaru has always been, and will always be my highest priority. I would have given up a long time ago, had it not been for her... She saved me from myself and for that I owe her everything," she explained, turning and walking over to her bed, speaking as she sat herself down, legs crossed. "I say with great confidence that if killing my brother was truly my priority, he'd already be dead and buried." Eida looked at Mycah, something different in her eyes all of a sudden. "So you needn't worry... But by my word as a Fae, should my brother and I cross paths, I will not hesitate to kill him." With a gentle huff, she lifted one hand to her hair and let it loose, while the other pulled a pelt over her legs to shield out the cold.

Her expression was much gentler then, and she glanced at Hotaru before settling her gaze on Mycah once more. "For what it's worth, I'm... I'm sorry about Uncle Tommy," she told him. "I know he meant the world to you."

She saved me from myself and for that I owe her everything," she explained while walking to her bed, sitting cross legged. "I say with great confidence that if killing my brother was truly my priority, he'd already be dead and buried." She told him and there was a shift in her eyes, a vengeance filled darkness. The same, he was sure, was once in his a moment ago. "So you needn't worry... But by my word as a Fae, should my brother and I cross paths, I will not hesitate to kill him." she took a calming breath and pulled her hair free. Despite himself, Mycah felt the urge to run his fingers through that dark hair of hers, like he had many a time during better days, he abandoned the thought. It would be too much to hope for that he'd want them back again, at least not so soon anyway, then there was the matter of the man. He could only guess what they were to one another and Eida was Fae, she had her needs, he couldn't fault her for moving on.

"For what it's worth, I'm...
She paused. I'm sorry about Uncle Tommy," she told him and he sighed, a frown lowering his brow.. "I know he meant the world to you.""It is worth much, Thank you. rest, we've a long journey ahead." He said, not really wanting to talk about it, lest his emotions overwhelm him. "I'll watch over you both," He said, giving her a soft smile as he propped his sort up, digging it into the ground and leaning his back against it. He closed his eyes and began to meditate so that he too would rest but would be alert enough to react should something go array, and they usually did.

Alice giggled out loud. he was warm she noticed, or actually, he was hot, like sitting next to a fire. She liked that. Grandfather was warm but not this warm. "He-Hehee... But that can't be it, see here... He went on and flipped the page while the book at in her lap. He began reading from it and it seemed that he had a difficult time of it. She listened with a smile. She knew the words by heart and mouthed along with him.
"Like i'd be slayed like that, Hah, Like i'd allow myself to lose a game like that eh?" He said and she grinned, but it faded when he looked at her, trying to figure her out. She didn't want him to be afraid of her even if she could beat him if she truly wanted. She could slay him just as easy as the Jabberwocky but she didn't want to. "I could slay you that, and I'd make it fair but I won't." She said, shaking her head before standing up looking down at him. "I like you, you're funny, so don't be scared of me, I won't hurt you especially if we're friends, I want you to be my friend. Will you be my friend?" She asked and thought. She wanted a friend, but she wanted him to be a friend to her like he was to Grandmother, only she'd be much nicer to him and treat him like a friend.

"It is worth much, thank you. Rest, we've a long journey ahead," Mycah told her, and she tilted her head to one side in response, lips pursing. It was clear he didn't want to discuss the topic further, but she didn't expect him to end the conversation then and there. "I'll watch over you both," he continued, and despite herself she spoke up. "Yeah... Goodnight to you, too."

Out of pure curiosity she did not lie down immediately but instead continued to watch him as he dug his sword into the ground and thereafter used it as a backrest. It wasn't long before his eyes were closing, and she released a quiet huff in the assumption that he'd slipped into a deep slumber. Of course you will, she thought. Even her inner voice sounded sceptical.

It mattered little in the end, though. Kaenne often made a habit of watching over their tent of a night, and Eida knew that were Mycah not in here with them, he'd have made an appearance by now. If nothing else, it would only have been to say goodnight. Most nights they just talked, which was nice because Eida always struggled to sleep, fearing for Hotaru's safety. As it was, he was nowhere to be seen, but he would always be nearby - should something happen... She missed him already. Mycah didn't want to continue talking, and so she was left alone in silence.

Sparing a glance at Hotaru to make sure she was still resting peacefully, Eida finally allowed herself to lie back, drawing the pelts up to her chin with another huff. Perhaps if she lay here long enough, her own boredom would lull her to sleep.

ImageImageImageMycah stopped his meditation a little while after Eida' had fallen asleep, he hadn't had something decent to eat for a while. Demons did not count. He took a deep breath and stood. He looked over at the sleeping Hotaru and smiled. One day, perhaps the awe would wear off but he hoped not. She was beautiful and he had something to do with her creation. It was surreal and most importantly she was his.

He cast his gaze to her sleeping mother. Eida was another matter. She'd said she wanted him there, for Hotaru but did she wanted him again? He noted how she'd covered herself when she changed. Eida was never so shy with her body, even before the change. She's tried to press the issue more times than Mycah had been willing to admit at the time and he'd always held her back, she was precious to him and he didn't want to rush things. He wanted it to be meaningful until of course, she'd taken that choice from him. That was a different Eida though, Thank the Four she seemed to be gone for good but Eida seemed ashamed of that and hid from him. Now that he had been done, he wanted to do it of his own volition, not some spell. He could never stop loving her. Dragons didn't love like that. They loved but once and the woman he loved was back and with her, she brought him a child. He smiled down at her, and pulled the pelts over her shoulder, noticing how it had slipped. He remembered that she liked it up to her chin.

He stepped back, and gazed lovingly at his family and fought the tear that touched his eye. He had to protect them, to his very last breath, he would protect them. On Lord Thomas' Ashes, He would protect them.

He turned and stepped out of the tent, his step quiet and light, careful not to disturb them but he was always surefooted.

He looked around the small band, thieves they seemed to be but considering who they were likely stealing from, he thought little of it. He asked around for the food and after receiving a myriad of different looks, he was headed in the right direction. It was clear that Hotaru favored him and they soon realized who he was. Be it fear of Eida's wrath, or his own, they made no comment.

Mycah grabbed something small, his appetite was much larger than what he took but he figured the rations might be low so he'd dare not impose. He plucked an apple and was about to take a bite when he saw the man that had been with Eida. He seemed to avoid him entirely so Mycah decided that he would make it a point to talk to the man himself. Dragons were naturally territorial, they couldn't help it, so a part of him wanted to let this man know that he was here now and neither Eida nor Hotaru needed him to hover, however, he knew that it was likely because of his absence, that someone needed to look out for them and had been and Mycah was grateful.

When Mycah approached the man, he wasn't sure if he was going to thank him or dismiss him.

"Good Morrow."He said in greeting. "You are a good friend of Eida's,?" He asked, not accusation or implications in his tone, it was merely a statement of fact in the form of a question. "I wanted to thank you, for looking after her and my daughter." He said and was glad that's what he decided to say. Unfortunately, his mouth continued on. "I'll be here to look after them from now, so if you've a family to look for, you can." He said and hoped that didn't sound as condescending as it did to his ears.

Image
ImageImageImage"A friend, huh?" Asmos said and Alice nodded. He thought for a moment what to make of her question and Alice didn't like tat he thought she was being used against him. She wasn't like that. She didn't let it show, though.

"I will gladly become your friend, But only your friend. And just like friends, we will grow together..." Alice cocked her her head, confused by that. Grow together? But before she asked him what that meant Asmos began to switch languages mid-sentence causing Alice to frown. It took a moment, she'd never been spoken to in demon before but she figured it out. "...Because my complete loyalty belongs to my queen, and that cannot be changed." Alice frowned hard, shaking her head. "No, you'll be my friend, I'm nice to you, so you should be loyal to me, besides, Grandmother won't be Queen forever, my mommy will be Queen and then, one day, I'll be Queen, don't you want a Queen that plays fair, and is nice to you, Is Grandmother nice to you?" She asked, getting upset. She didn't want him to be Grandmother's friend. She didn't like Grandmother. Alice then reached up, taking his face in her tiny hands, searching his memories for thoughts of her Grandmother. The guards around them closed in. "Alice, You're Mommy wouldn't like this." said one of them but Alice ignored him. "Alice, hunny, come one, come away from him." said another but Alice shrugged him off, searching. Asmos' thoughts. She was breathing hard, trying to sift through all of the battles and the blood. Her nose began to bleed but she wouldn't stop. "She's not nice to you, She doesn't even know you" She said, watching as her Grandmother would point and tell him where to go, and what to do but that was it. She didn't do anything else. she barely even called him his name. "Alice!" called a guard and Alice turned her head sharply, round eyes bright, teeth clenched. "Sleep" she told the guard and soon all of the guards around Asmos dropped into heaps while Alice turned her attention back to Asmos. "You are my friend, You will be loyal to me." She told him, it was not a question. "Grandmother will not be Queen and Mommy doesn't like you, but I do, so you'll be loyal to me. Okay?" She said and didn't leave room for him say anything but yes, her hands still on either side of his face. She didn't want to hurt him, but she would.
