Gender is a shell game. What is a man? Whatever a woman isn't. What is a woman? Whatever a man is not. Tap on it and it's hollow. Look under the shells: it's not there.

Handsome, fit, confident; Sebastian really seems to have it all going for him. Of course, there are still things about himself he would change if he could, but for the most part heās fairly happy with himself. He walks through life with his head held high, often with a bright grin on his face. He wears his naturally curly hair short, and often purposefully tousled. Heās very proud of his ability to grow nice facial hair, and it would take something very big to get him to shave. He tends to dress fairly simply; simple, timeless silhouettes are easiest to throw together quickly. If you catch him during the day, thereās a good chance heāll be wearing athletic wear, anyway. The scars on his chest are pretty faded now, and youād have to know they were there in the first place to notice them. He has no tattoos (nothing against them, heās just a big baby), but his ears are pierced.

Sebastian is tune with his emotions; he learned to properly, and healthily, manage them at a fairly young age. That doesnāt mean he always perfectly applies those skills (he has a bit of a temper), but he does tend to recognize what heās feeling before he lets himself spiral into despair or something like that. He can usually pick up on cues from others to tell what theyāre feeling, and while he can be a little awkward about it, heās fairly empathetic towards others. Heās also very intuitive, his family taught him to trust that intuition and didnāt train any of it out of him.
Heās always been the sort to match the energies of those around him, going from careful to impulsive based on the mood of the room. Heās always had a very intense desire to be liked and to just fit it, and though thatās starting to fade as he grows older, thereās still a part of him that just wants to be like everyone else and have everyone like him. Lately, heās working on that, and trying to curb his people-pleasing tendencies before they get him into trouble, but old habits die hard.
Sebastian can be protective. The people he really cares about tend to get his entire heart and soul, and he fully understands that can be a little intense. He just doesnāt know how to show he cares without doing the most. He can also get pretty jealous if heās not careful, and he tries not to let that get ugly, but given how much he tends to care about people, when he gets jealous and hurt it can be messy.
That passion he extends to people, when Seb applies it to the things in life he loves, it can be kind of incredible, or a complete disaster. He can pour all this love and attention into something mundane and make it seem like an artform. When things donāt turn out right it can put him in a bit of a funk; a perfectionist until the bitter end, Sebastian would rather not do something at all if itās not going to come out perfectly. Heās had more than one near breakdown as a result of refusing to let āgood enoughā be good enough. He can be so short sided when it comes to himself, and tends to insist on perfection where he would never expect it from others.

There was once a young woman married to a cruel man, she had a daughter, and that daughter was blessed with magic. She developed a talent for particularly powerful charms, and in those days there was good money in that. Her mother instructed her carefully, made sure she could always provide for herself, do well for herself. The bloodline was easy to track if you did it right. Any man could father any child, but there was no mistaking your mother. Over time their coven grew, until it was strong and prestigious as it is today. They do take on men as acolytes, but in their tradition men can only go so far. Only women are allowed to lead, only women are allowed to attend their most secret of ceremonies and rituals, and only women are allowed to teach. Some think it's ridiculous and old fashioned to be so rigid in that way, but the way they see it is that some knowledge is meant for women to pass down to other women, and that it the truth they maintain.
Sebastian could have done really well in the coven: he's talented, has an eye for detail, and really excels in the charms and other rituals passed down from matriarchs who lived long before him. In his younger years he would bundle up luck charms to sell them to classmates at school without magical abilities, things like that. His magic was never terribly flashy, but it's reliable and it gets the job done. These days he's let his magic grow a little rusty; he doesn't get the practice he used to since he was cordoned off to the maintenance crew,

As far as coven childhoods go, Sebastian had a decently normal one. His mother, not really one for relationships, wanted a child- so she had one. He grew up around cousins and acolytes and generations of family members, so he never felt like he lacked anything for not having two parents in his life. He knew from a young age that he wasnāt quite what everyone expected him to be, though he didnāt quite understand what that was all about until heād reached his teens. His childhood was spent exploring an old house, learning about magic, and terrorizing his cousins (a spider or frog where they donāt quite belong really can get people in a tizzy).
Oh, he was always a melancholy child, though; aunts were always asking his mother if he was alright. Looking back on his life, Sebastian would tell you there werenāt any obvious signs, but his grandmother once sat him down and assured him that he would always have a place with them. Whether she had some magical insight or just knew a child struggling internally when she saw one, he didnāt know. Never asked, never cared to.
Seb knew transitioning would change things, but somehow he didnāt expect some of the changes to be so dramatic. Suddenly there were midnight meetings he wasnāt invited to, rituals he was barred from, positions within the coven he could no longer hold. It wasnāt malicious, it was fair. All at once it was devastating and freeing and validating and lonely. He suddenly had all this freedom and he didnāt know what to do with it.
He spent the first several years absolutely wasting his life. After spending his whole life under scrutiny, he went a bit off the rails for a time. There were parties, drinking, girls, boys, reckless behavior galore. It wouldnāt last forever; after a few years enjoying the boyhood he never had, he more fully threw himself into the other things heād discovered he enjoyed. He still enjoys a night out or what have you, but heās toned his behavior down a bit.
Mostly, heās finally settled into who he really is. He doesnāt feel the need for bravado or putting on a show of what other people expect or who they think he should or shouldnāt be. Once he really came into himself and decided what kind of person he wanted to be, he flourished. A job and a bit of a life outside of the coven has done wonders for his journey of self-discovery.
