Evelynn smiled as he kept her mind busy, helping her to laugh. She did, she winced slightly though as it shook her shoulder and her leg, and she soon stopped laughing and instead cringed in pain. She nodded at the offer of finding a better stick later, this one looked perfect for now. She took it and stuck it upright in the sand, making sure she could lean on it. Then she gently heaved herself up onto her good leg, letting the bleeding one drag behind her. She cursed under her breath in pain.
Once she was up, Evie got her balance. She let her breathing slow down, as she was hyperventilating from the pain in her ankle and her thigh. She didn't mention it as she didn't want to add more injuries to her list. She suspected it was sprained or broken, but as Evie wasn't a med student (Yet), she couldn't be sure. She moved the stick, leaned on it, and hopped forward, dragging her leg behind her. It hurt very much, but Evie didn't complain. There wasn't anything to achieve by complaining, except the annoyance of everybody else and perhaps a world record if she complained long enough. She continued for a few more steps, and stopped for a breather. Then she continued on her journey, following the man called Sam who had neatly cleaned and bandaged her shoulder for her. She had smiled in thanks and followed to the next patient.
When she saw him, Evie thought he looked even worse than herself. There was another girl a few metres off, but she ignored her. She slid to the ground gratefully and whimpered in pain. The walk had taken a lot of energy out of her and she was tired and in pain. Her head leaned against the tree and she closed her eyes. She regained her breath shortly but for now she wouldn't make a noise, as she didn't want to distract Sam.
