Lia is a fair skinned girl with a slim but curvy figure. She has mismatched eyes, one gray and one purple, as a result from mutations in her gene from the stardust. It also turned half her hair a snow white color. She keeps her hair so the colors are parted right down the middle- a style she was given from the facility and kept. Her bangs are cut straight across and fall slightly higher than her eyes. She has heavy eyelashes that stand out since on one side they're white. She wears a sort of blank expression most of the time, but it doesn't look bored- more like an aloof sadness or gentle happiness, depending her mood.
She wears a lot of purple and pale reds, and has a set of twin daggers she tends to keep with her. She also often has bandages randomly on her face, arms, and legs, not from other people but simply because she's clumsy and falls over or runs into things. Despite being Italian, she also tends to like Japanese-style clothing.

{☛ ⓅⒺⓇⓈⓄⓃⒶⓁⒾⓉⓎ☚}
Very kind and compassionate, but reserved, Lia seems like a typical shy girl. At least, until she's holding a weapon or instrument. She seems kind of slow to answer people, but really she just likes taking her time to think. She never wants to offend anyone, or say the wrong thing. She probably couldn't insult anyone if she tried. Though around her friends she's a bit more open, the true time she opens up is when she's playing a song or singing. She thinks music's pretty, and as such is somewhat devoted to it. The other time she "opens up" is when she's fighting, but the term doesn't exactly fit. She says more and acts more boldly, sure. But there's a part of her closed off- the part that makes her so nice and gently. Not like she goes into a flying fury when she's fighting, you can still tell she's reserved, but there's a hint of cruelness behind her when she's against someone who's angered her enough for her to fight them.
She's very calm and most of the time wears an passive expression, with maybe hints of a smile. She daydreams a lot too, and tends to zone out and stare off into space. Back in the facility, this got her labeled as weird or even dumb. While she's not particularly clever, Lia is still smart. With numbers in particular. Lia is also extremely loyal, to a fault even. She's dedicated to protecting people she cares about, and would take a literal bullet for someone. The kind of extremeness of her actions from this seem a little misplaced with her usual reserved self.

Her "parents" were both from Italy
{☛ ⒻⒶⓂⒾⓁⓎ ☚}
Both donor parents are believed to be alive, but there's no information on who they are. Or where, for that matter.
{☛ ⒽⒾⓈⓉⓄⓇⓎ ☚}
Lia's early childhood is like a fairy tale to her now. There was one scientist who watched her ever- his job to discover what her power was. He called her Lilly, because of the purple lilies he had at his home that matched her eye color. Apparently her genes were supposed to make her abnormally strong- a fighter. But as she grew it was evident that she didn't look or show signs of greater strength than anyone else. Still, he gave her training sessions, and that's how she had learned to fight. She was very open and happy at the time, even treating the scientist as a friend. When she showed an aptitude for using daggers, they thought her gift might be something concerning that, and focused on her ability with blades. Her skill, while remarkable, was no where in any "star dust" level.
One day, while putting away equipment, Lia tripped and landed wrong on her leg. It was twisted and obviously broken, so the scientist left to go get doctors to "help" her to the hospital wing. However, when they got back she was fine. Turned out, her strength was a strength in healing. She healed remarkably fast. But that's when her "fairytale" days of simply training with the one friendly scientist stopped. She was tested to see how effective her healing power was- which meant she had to be hurt first. Even if it never left permanent damage, it still hurt her. She became quiet but never fought back- instead she seemed to go somewhere else in her mind around the scientists.
They hadn't learned of her ability to heal others though- she learned that on her own. A kid got a paper cut once, and she healed it without another thought. After she wasn't even sure how she knew to do it- she just did. She got a migraine and felt sick to her stomach afterwards though, and it had only been a paper cut. So she tried her best to hide the ability.
Of course they found out though, she had already healed someone. And smaller kids aren't good at staying quiet. But the night they found out was the night she escaped, so she never did find out what they would have done to "test" her abilities.

{☛ ⓄⓉⒽⒺⓇ ☚}
She has the power to heal, though it mostly works for herself. She can technically heal others as well, but it usually takes a large toll on her body. Despite this, she does try to help other people if she can.

You could hear her happy humming down the hall, the sound of Alice skipping into the house from the yard filling the currently quiet house. "Where did everyone go?" Alice closed the door behind her, listening. Normally Clock would be hiding out in his room, sometimes Ryuu if he was in a drawing mood, but she could usually find Grey, Anna, and Lia hanging around the common area. Alice left her rain boots on the mat. She had been playing in the puddles that the early morning rain had left when her stomach began to growl and she decided to come back inside. The star dust child walked further into the house, going towards the kitchen.

She went into the fridge and rifled around, looking for chocolate and disappointing herself when she couldn't find any. It was a rare occurrence when they had chocolate and if they did it was usually eaten quickly by the members of the household. With a sigh she pulled out the milk and poured herself a glass, sitting down at the table. She had left one of her stuffed animals there, a stuffed horse she named Red. "There you are!" The glass of milk was suddenly forgotten as she picked Red up and hugged him to her chest. "Mr. Cow was worried sick, thank goodness I found you." She spoke in a low tone to the toy, trying to imitate the way Anna spoke when she was soothing one of the others.

Out of nowhere a knock came from the door. Alice froze, shifting from one foot to the other. Should she get that? She looked at Red, but the horse had no answer. So Alice went, slowly going to the front door and glancing outside. "Anna!" Alice screamed, the door suddenly splintering in pieces. She turned to run, but of course it was in this moment that her legs decided they didn't want to work and so she collapsed, Red falling from her grasp as she attempted to pull herself forward. Suddenly one of her legs was grabbed and Alice was lifted into the air, the world spinning around as one of the security agents righted her and handed her off to a second one who made the mistake of putting his hand over her mouth. Alice licked him and when that didn't work, she bit him, which caused the man to drop her, then kick her in the side. "Lia," Alice whimpered, curling into a ball on the ground and remembering to curl into a ball to protect her internal organs. Where were the others?

Grey had spent the morning cooking for the others. He didn't mind of course, Grey loved seeing the others devour the food he prepared, he loved seeing them happy. Love was one of the few emotions he could experience and when he did it was always an intense feeling. It was in the middle of cleaning up from the morning that the wheels in his mind turned and the thought of Stacy brought back painful memories. He could feel it, a fit coming on, so Grey went to hide out in the recreation room where the kickboxing bag was. He didn't want the others to see him like this, to be able to read the pain on his face at the thought of losing his first love. "I'll be back soon," he promised them and left, pulling his shirt off and wrapping his hands.

"Left, right, hook, kick," it was a combination, a pattern he had drilled into his mind to forget about the burden he carried, to take it out on the bag. "Hook left, right, kick, kick," like a drug it made everything else hazy, it made Grey relax and allowed him to unwind. Just two more kicks and he was done, the bag beaten like a tender piece of meat. He unwrapped his hands, glancing at his knuckles which were raw. Morning was nearly over already, he had wasted so much time.

Sweat trickled down his back, tickling his spine. Grey used his shirt to wipe off before stepping out of the recreation room and going to his own bedroom in order to shower. He peeled off the rest of his clothes, throwing them in the hamper and grabbing his hairbrush before jumping under the stream. He had already gone through three songs from Queen when the house shook. Grey froze, a terrible feeling sinking into his stomach. He turned off the water, forgetting a towel and rummaging through his closet for whatever clothes he could stuff his body into the fastest. No time for the toy water gun, not if this is what he thought it was.

Unfortunately Grey was right. He watched from the second floor as they entered, his chest swelling with pride when he saw Alice bite the security agent. "Don't touch her!" Grey screamed, jumping over the banister and onto the first floor. He promptly ran to the agent, his protective instincts kicking in and rammed the poor man to the ground. They were just doing their job, sheep in wolves clothing really. "Come here." He knelt down to pick the girl, stupidly dropping his guard for a second in the moment that Alice reached up to him. Bzzt! Grey smelled it before he felt it. The taser shooting tiny needles of electricity into his body. Grey could hear a scream but whether it came from him or not was a mystery. He was falling, the smell of burnt flesh lingering under his nose. "Don't.... touch... my.... family."

When Annalise had woken up that morning her entire body had felt heavy. She was usually one of the first kids up for the day, Grey being the only one she wouldn’t be surprised to see standing in the kitchen if she were to go downstairs. It seemed as if she would have to fight him one of these days to be able to cook anything again. But she couldn’t find it in herself to get out of bed, a pillow hugged to her chest and the sheets of the bed kicked to the side.

The eighteen year old had found that as the days went by in this house she was having more and more trouble keeping up her mother-like behaviors. The blonde girl had a distinct image in her mind, she could never forget her own mother’s behavior, and wondered if the burden that the facility could have taken Anna at any moment had weighed the woman down the way it seemed to be crushing Anna. She sighed, pressing her face into the bloated side of her pillow. All she wanted were for these kids to experience a life like the one she had as a young child. Every single one of the stardust children that had escaped deserved that.

Pushing herself up the girl debated going downstairs finally. If she did then maybe she could distract herself by cleaning, or maybe Alice would have her roped into some random game that came for the inner workings of her bright mind. The very thought had her grinning, it was even cloudy outside, the rain from the night before still lingering in the overcast of the sky. If a game were to become an outdoor event surely even Anna could participate. Maybe she could try and make today a family day, drag Clock and Ryuu from their hiding places and have the whole family participate. Every single one of the kids were characters, with distinctly strong differences that made all their interactions interesting as a group, it would be fun to spend time together as a whole.

Standing Annalise walked over to her mirror. She looked about as disheveled and lifeless as she had felt. Her absurd amount of hair had broken free in the night and with its restraints gone had become a wild and untamable mess that framed her silhouette. She had on an oversized shirt she had snatched from Grey to sleep in, and despite him only being an inch taller it still covered everything important. Just as the girl was reaching for a brush to try and tame her mess of hair she heard a bang, followed by Alice’s cry for her and Anna didn’t hesitate as she shot out of the room and towards the front of the house.

“Don't touch her!” Grey’s voice rang throughout their house as Anna rushed down the stairs, just as she was reaching the bottom she saw Grey get tazed by one of the men. He was holding Alice and no doubt the girl felt a small tingle from that since Grey had her in his arms. Anna rushed forward despite her unruly appearance, a hand raised as an armory of daggers surrounded her.

“Do not move or I will use lethal force.”
She commanded in the most authoritative voice she could muster. One man was already on the ground, Grey presumably taking care of him, but the other watched her with surprise. Anna already knew she was going to have to do something about the men in front of her, and it did not involve letting them go. If these men escaped they would no doubt alert the facility of their whereabouts, and Anna was not keen on moving just yet. Still though, she would not do anything rash in front of Alice, cruelty was the last thing the little girl needed to see.

As Anna approached the group, the conjured daggers floated lazily in the air as if they were suspended in water, bobbing and twirling with no urgency, and were out of place in the tense mood. “Why don’t we take this outside boys.” She gave them a dazzlingly bright smile as she walked, and her blades began spinning in place until they were a blur. She would protect her family no matter the cost.

Lia was writing lyrics in a worn down notebook on the couch in the common room. And no, it was not poetry. She wrinkled her nose at the thought. She had read a book of poems once to see if they were any good- she had heard music was like poetry- and she and hated it all. Well, most of it. Some of it was good, but most of it was horrible. Most of it she just flat out didn't get.
'As he swung toward them holding up the hand
Half in appeal, but half as if to keep
The life from spilling...'
She shook her head, thinking of the quote. Frost, was it? It had sounded pretty, sure. But it didn't make sense. Life didn't spill. Or did it? Lia tilted her head in thought, considering this, when she heard a loud crash.

Lia jumped from her seat, wondering what the sound was. Did someone break something? There was a shout for Anna, and Lai started moving toward the hallway. But then she heard a very faint, "Lia..." she found herself running toward the front door. Just ahead of her she saw Grey getting tazed by someone. An agent. He was trying to take them back. Lia tensed, grabbing at the daggers she always had strapped to her sides. She saw Anna just ahead of her, summoning daggers of her own. How had the men found them?

Lia tensed as Anna talked to the men. Even without seeing her face, she could hear a smile in her voice. But not a very kind one. Lia felt her eyes narrow at the two men. The one who was knocked over was finally getting up, coming out of his daze. Lia tightened her grip on her daggers and walked up beside Anna, making her presence known. She put herself between the men and Alice and Grey. Her eyes were cold as she stared at them, daring them to disobey Anna's 'request'.

Ryuu had watched Grey's attitude shift, and knew before he actually excused himself that he was going to leave. It happened from time to time- something would bother Grey and he'd disappear for a bit. Kickboxing helped the older boy work out whatever was bothering him.

Ryuu had wandered off not long after, absently playing with his scarf. He was kind of surprised he hadn't heard from Anna yet, she usually bugged him about now to play a game or something. Maybe she was trying Clock or Lia this time. Smiling to himself at the thought of his "family" spending time with each other, Ryuu shut himself in his room. He liked spending time with them, he did. He just never really got used to being around people all the time. He was so used to solitude. Almost the second he entered the room he had a sketchbook and pencil in his hand, and was laying stomach down on his bed to doodle. He liked drawing people, or at least human-like, people most. He felt like each person he drew was real, like they had an actual personality that was conveyed in a simple sketch.

And then he heard it. Alice yelling, a loud crash. Ryuu stood and ran out of the room, moving faster than most ever saw. He was known for being kind of lazy and relaxed, and it was rare to see him jump up to do anything. Unless he heard screams. "The hell..." he muttered, running to the noise. It had come from the front of the house. When he got there he saw Anna forcing two men outside and Lia standing over Grey and Alice, who were on the floor. Why were they on the floor?

"Are you okay?" the question was directed at both Grey and Alice, though his eyes only darted to them for a moment before looking at the exiting men. Were they agents? No, of course they were. Did Anna need help? Now that he thought of it, he'd never seen her fight. But he'd admit, her daggers looked pretty threatening.

"...."

The young man was sitting cross legged in the center of his room, three seemingly meaningless piles of scrap metal strewn about him. Between the three piles was what seems like a half finished yet intricate figurine of a deer. Each pile was of a different texture and color, having been separated by his own hands. A loud noise and desperate shouts echoed down the halls.

He didn't even glance at his had work, dropping it and causing it to loosen and fall apart. He looked at his door, frustrated that he had closed it. Having little time to waste, he kicked it off it's hinges, which were pretty weak since half of them were in his collection. He ran to the stairs only to see the chaos going on bellow.

"No...!"

As he stumbled down the steps, time had skipped back a couple of minutes from the events. Alice shouted for Anna, Grey had let out a threatening shout, and the tazer gun had been shot. However, this time was slightly different. Clock had shoved himself full force into Grey, knocking him back as the thin threads latched onto his shoulder. Grey would still remember the shock though, and seemed to still be slightly affected by the memory as they both hit the ground with Clock rolling off to the side to clutch his own stomach. The burnt flesh small came from Clock though. He had only gone back a couple of minutes, so all he felt was the world spinning and nausea rising up his throat.

Ryuu's words seemed so distant now, he lifted his hazy gaze to see Anna and Lia, weapons at hand as they advanced on the men.

Damn it... I'm so useless right now...

He couldn't help fight, but the the two women, surely they could not lose.

.....Right?

Grey could practically feel time spinning as Clock reversed it and suddenly the other boy was on the ground, twitching a bit from the shock. "Clock!" Alice was clutching his shirt in her little hands and Grey held onto her with one arm, while kneeling down to check on the boy. His eyes were open and he still had a pulse, "Thank you," it was whispered. Grey would probably never be able to return the debt he now owed Clock. The least he could do was protect him. Standing upright, Grey's free arm began to change, metal that came from nowhere spun around, his arm disappeared and turned into a cannon. He placed Alice on the floor beside Clock "Watch him for me, okay?" Grey said to Alice and ruffled her hair. "I'll be back in a few," he promised and walked up behind Anna, the security agents didn't seem keen to move, but they didn't look as though they wanted to get hit by daggers either. Too bad for them, none of them would get out of this alive.

Slowly without sudden movements they all backed out the door, grumbling slightly in annoyance at the slight inconvenience. Grey followed Anna's lead out the door, it was a good call on her part, that way they didn't completely destroy the house. As soon as they were outside the real fighting begun, all guns and weapons were out, catching whatever sun was left in the cloudy sky. The ground was still wet, the grass squishing under his bare feet. They made the first move, shooting at them. They were darts of course, they weren't stupid enough to kill off the only perfect creations their bosses had made. Grey a bit like a ballerina dodging their oncoming attacks, then sent off a few of his own.

Static rose in the air as the cannon charged, he shot down two officers when one jumped him from behind and hit him on the head. Thankfully Grey's goggles that he always wore in his disheveled hair took the brunt of the attack. He pulled them down over his eyes, a sort of whine filling the air as the cannon charged and shot directly through the stomach of the man, leaving two halves of his body on the ground with a section missing. Slightly out of breath, Grey turned, there were a lot of them and another truckload had just arrived. This was going to be a close battle.

Alice did not like this situation at all, her family was getting hurt and all she could do was sit here with her useless legs and hope the battle didn't somehow come back inside. "Are you gonna fight too?" Alice asked Ryuu and Lia and she rung the hem of her skirt in her hands. She didn't want them to go, she didn't want them to get hurt too. Suddenly Alice couldn't help it, she tried to choke back her tears by covering her mouth but it didn't work. Why was she so useless? Why couldn't she protect instead of being protected? She turned towards Ryuu and Lia and spoke with wobbly words through her tears, "win for us." Alice wiped her eyes, this was no time for crying, Grey had asked her to protect Clock and so Alice would. She wouldn't fail in this important task.

"Don't worry clock," she had stopped crying now, a look of determination replacing the sorrow. "I'll protect you," She may not be able to walk, but Alice could still shape shift and so if she needed to, if the security agents somehow got past Anna, Lia, Ryuu, and Grey, Alice would protect Clock, she would try to take out the rest of them.

The backdoor opened. She felt it before she realized what was happening, a hand closing around her throat and lifting her into the air. "Well, well, well. Looks like we've caught our runaways." He had a scar going down one eye and wore a terrible sneer. Alice choked as his hand closed around her throat, slowly cutting off her airway. She grabbed at his hand, trying to wrench herself free but he was much stronger than her and so she did the only thing she could think of and turned her hands into claws, digging them into his flesh. For the second time that day she was dropped to the ground and faster than last time Alice army crawled away, her useless leg dragging behind her and weighing her down. Suddenly feeling came back, she could move one leg but not the other. Slowly she stood and grabbed Clock's hand, trying to get him to move. "Come on, we've gotta run!"

As Anna got closer to the two men that had entered she took a moment to check Clock, after watching him be tazed she was worried that there might have been something more seriously wrong. The thought caused her to pause, hadn’t Grey been the one to be tazed? Her eyes darted to the dark haired boy who, other than looking a little frazzled, was completely unharmed. She sighed and couldn’t keep a small smile off her lips despite the situation, the boy had used his abilities to save Grey. That had to be what had happened. “Thank you Clock.”

The warmth drained from her face as she raised her eyes to the intruding men. Her mouth was set in a firm line her eyes leaving no room for negotiation. The movement into the yard was slow and dramatic, yet Anna was able to keep her mind still. She didn’t hate anything about the outside world, but she hated everything about the facility. Even if the men before her were not the ones that cause her family’s pain and sorrow they were a part of the organization that had. Killing them was essential, there was no way around it, that was what she told herself.

Anna took a deep breath, closing her eyes as the facility began there attack. With the raise of her arm the daggers that were floating around her switched into a defensive barrier, the klink as the darts bounced harmlessly off the barrier were rapid and long-lasting. She waited a moment, listening as Grey shot off some sort of weapon into the agents, before sending her barrage of daggers into their formation. They were as fast as bullets and impaled themselves into the bodies of the agents before disappearing and leaving gaping holes in their sides. They had nearly finished off the first wave when a new truckload arrived. She clenched her fist in frustration, she didn’t want to fight these people, but the safety of the stardust children came first.

As they exited the vehicle Anna stretched her arm out so it was parallel with the ground, her palming facing the sky. She raised her arm up and as she did over a dozen daggers materialized from the ground below the vehicle and decimated it. The explosion and shrapnel succeeded in taking down more of the attackers as well. She dropped her hand, her chest heaving in effort and sweat coating her body. Conjuring her weapons from a distance took almost three times the stamina than close range summoning did. It left her breathless and standing on shaky legs.

But she couldn’t rest, there were still enemies all around them that had to be disposed of. Already the carnage littering the front clearing of their house was turning their surroundings red, the smell of blood was nearly tangent and was making Anna feel a bit dizzy. Taking a deep breath she raised her hand again to summon a new bombardment of daggers and made to call for Grey, but she was cut short by a sharp pain in the center of her back.

“Gre- AWCK!” She fell forward and landed hard on her elbows. Her whole body shuddered in pain as her chest constricted and the girl spat out the smallest amount of blood. She tried to take a moment to catch her breath, but a strong grip wrapped itself around her ankle and she was dragged backwards. Angry, but also slightly embarrassed since all she was wearing was a tee shirt, Anna twisted her whole body around violently. She used the ground as leverage and pushed herself up to connect a kick into the side of the agent’s face, yanking her foot away in the process. She stood up and made to summon more daggers, but a combination of shock and her shaken mental state stopped any from appearing.

She had to calm down, but find she couldn’t keep control over her racing heartbeat. Two agents descended upon her at once, taking advantage of her weakness, and the girl had to fight desperately to get free of their grasp. Desperately, she turned to the closest agent and shoved her fingers into the gap of their facemask and into their eyes. It was a disgusting feeling and as she pulled her hands away they were completely covered in blood. She stood slightly hunched over the screaming man as she faced the other agent that had attacked her. She was glaring, and raised her hand menacingly at them. One of her daggers flickered into existence and she seized it at the hilt.

Anna felt the muscles of her legs tense right before she lunged foreward, shoving the weapon sideways into the poor man’s throat. The moment the dagger connected it poofed away leaving a giant hole in the throat of the man, a spray of red from a main artery hit the side of her body and she had to jump away to avoid being completely drenched in their blood.

She winced as she stood up straight, the hit she took to the back had the potential to bed fatal and the metallic taste in her mouth told her she was still spitting up blood.

Lia was slightly startled by Clock suddenly being on the ground, before she remembered the time thing. She felt her eyes soften a bit, realizing the boy had taken a hit for Grey. She was about to kneel down to heal him a bit, but she heard Anna's fighting outside. And she sounded like she was getting tired. Lia's eyes darted from Clock to the door, and finally she chose to fight first. Grey had already trailed after Anna, so Lia went to join them. Alice's legs seemed to have stopped working for the time being, which was just even more reason to put up a fight.

Lia ran at the first man she saw. They were all distracted by Grey and Anna's more flashy fighting, deeming them the real threat. Lia's eyes went cold as she jumped at the agent, daggers aimed for the throat. The man twisted his body to get away at the last second but she was already on top of him. She swiftly shoved a dagger in his throat and yanked it back, ignoring the gurgling sound or the sight of his life leaving him. She spotted another man close by and went to repeat her actions when she found herself shoved forward with a sharp pain on the back of her head. Wincing slightly, she glanced back to see an agent pointing a gun at her. Guns, I hate guns, she thought, quickly rolling out of the way to avoid being shot at.

A few minutes of dodging bullets and trying to actually get close enough to do anything, Lia realized what she had to do. Without giving herself time to think about it, she charged the guy, ignoring the flash of pain that sprang up in her shoulder as he shot her. It wasn't a fatal hit, she told herself, and raised a dagger with her good arm before driving it into the mans head. It was lodged in his skull, and didn't come back out when she yanked. She left it and turned to look for another.

Instead she spotted Grey and Anna, Grey keeping off new arrivals while Anna seemed to be slightly overwhelmed. And covered in blood. Blood. Lia blinked, something just now occurring to her, and looked for Ryuu. He was no where in sight. "Thought so," she mumbled, more concerned than bothered. Clock and Alice were out of sight to, which hopefully was a good thing meaning they were safe and not watching the fighting.

Lia decided to go to Anna, Grey seemed to be doing just fine by himself. Plus Anna's fighting style matched more to her own. "Anna," she called as she got closer, noticing the blood on her mouth. Was it her blood? Close up, Lia realized Anna wasn't summoning the amount of weapons she usually did.

He wanted to help protect everyone, to make sure no one would harm his family, but Ryuu felt like he was locked in place. The second the fighting started, he knew he wouldn't be much help. They weren't fighting to subdue, they were fighting to kill. And god, there was blood. He felt the urge to run but fought it, instead just standing deadly still in the door way. "Fight, you idiot," he mumbled aloud, but he couldn't get himself to move any further out the door. A stream of curses left his mouth as he finally took a step back. And another.

And then Alice was yelling again. Ryuu quickly looked back. Clock looked to be still sort of dazed, and Alice was barely managing to stay on her feet. Why was she yelling? Then he saw the man right behind them, how had he not seen that guy first. Ryuu felt panic building up, like a tight coil in his chest that was going to snap and leave him a screaming mess. He had to do something. Now. Without a thought Ryuu ran at the man, his fist connecting with the guys face. Ryuu wasn't strong like Grey or anything, but he could throw a punch at least. The man fell back, and for a moment Ryuu thought it was a crisis averted. But the guy was already struggling to stand back up. Ryuu looked back at Alice and Clock. Ryuu wanted to just burn the guy. To a crisp. But then the house would burn, and he knew from time in the facility how scary he would look if he tried that. He didn't really want Alice to have that image of him if it could be helped. Or for Clock to, for that matter.

"Okay, Alice, you said something about running? Let's do that. Clock, can you stand?" he asked, glancing at the two behind him. Where could they go where they'd be safe? Even just for a bit? Maybe the attic, if no one saw them go up there. As long as the other three kept them busy they might not take the time to search the house. Maybe.

"I'm...I'm fine."

He could hear the commotion with the man up above him, jerking out a leg to kick the man in the groin as he was struggling to his feet. He propped himself up to his knees as his vision clearing as the small girl took his hand. He motioned for her to get on his back, standing upright beyond the younger boy. He was irritated, these two keeping their calm and acting more mature than he whom was several years older. All he had done so far was react in a blind panic. He tugged at Ryuu's sleeve, nodding his head to the back door. Clock was useless in a fight and the others with him were too young to get involved in such a gruesome matter. What with Alice being so young and Ryuu not stable just by the sight of a scraped knee.

It would seem that Clock had recovered from his episode and the electric shock he had received, having no problem holding the young girl fast to his back as he lead Ryuu around the incapacitated man moaning on the floor.

They may have us surrounded, so if that is that case....

Nowhere else to go but up, and lucky for Clock that it was the attic he stored most of his scrap work. He ran up to the attic with the others in tow, slamming the door shut and setting Alice down. He looked over to Ryuu, they had to hide, but not in the house.

"Make sure they don't get in."

He moved over to the pile of scraps, his mind working a mile a minute. This is where the stardust was most effective. He was solving a puzzle, placing and bending bits of metal together as quickly as he could. He was making a very simple contraption.

He was basically making a glider. However with how it was made, it could only carry Alice and one of the boys. Naturally Clock was going to make Ryuu go, but knew he may protest. Hence his silence on the limitations of his plan.

The pain in her back continued to grow as each minute passed in the battle. All her limbs were shaking with effort and Anna was pretty sure she was running purely adrenaline. She was literally limited to conjuring only one dagger at a time, and she couldn’t even make it hover. Each summoned weapon had to be grasped as soon as it appeared, meaning all her combat had to be in close quarters and require unneeded energy to be spent. It was becoming more and more clear with each passing kill that salvaging Grey’s tee shirt wasn’t going to be a possibility.

No, she had to concentrate; her energy couldn’t be spared for useless thoughts. Anna had to save her family from the facility. Her adrenaline rush would have to last her, because without it she doubted she’d be able to use any of her stardust abilities and then be powerless. She spun her body as another agent approached her, the conjured dagger barely solidifying in time to make impact in the socket of the man’s eye. He recoiled backwards, unable to overcome the pain.

Charging forward Anna jumped onto the back of the closest agent, the dagger appeared in her hand and sliced his throat easily, not even disappearing as she turned to hit another agent. If the blonde girl could make her daggers last for two hits it raised her chances of winning tremendously, but even that would be quite the feat to achieve.

“Anna!”
The blonde girl spun around just as Lia approached her. She wanted to be relieved, but mostly she was scared for the younger girl. She knew that Lia’s abilities were not offensive in the slightest and that she was in danger surrounded by all these agents. Her features twisted into worry as she saw the wound on the girl’s back, she had been shot as she had made her way over to Anna. Though Anna supposed she looked much worse, covered completely in blood both strangers and her own.

“Lia, go back inside! It’s too dangerous out here, Grey and I can handle it.” She had to raise her voice over the chaos, her eyes flickering over Grey for a brief moment only to see him struggling as well. It made her heart constrict and as she drew her attention back to Lia she watched in horror as two agents began an attack on her younger sibling. With the fear that overcame her two blades materialized by her side and shot forward, impaling both lethally before the blades disintegrated. It brought her to her knees, and she hit the muddy ground hard, but Anna was determined to protect Lia. Annalise looked towards Grey again, hoping that he was doing better than she was, but her eyes widened in horror as she watched three agents dragging his body across the lawn. She reached out in a desperate attempt to protect him, but not a single dagger materialized for her.

“No, no, no, no!” She clenched the grass between her fingers in frustration, and just as she was about to stand up tiny pin pricks nailed themselves into her thigh and arm. Looking to the left she saw the small darts sticking into her flesh. She glanced up to Lia, already feeling the affect of the tranquilizers. Unable to keep herself supported Anna collapsed on the ground.

The world around her seemed to start fading in an out, the images around her blurring and darkening as unconsciousness began to take hold of her. She could see as a swarm of agents approached her, and feel them as they began to drag her towards the arriving trucks. Her limbs felt too heavy and her mind felt disconnected from her thoughts. Each blink made her eyelids feel heavier and the last thought she had was hoping that the other kids were safe.

“Lia, go back inside! It’s too dangerous out here, Grey and I can handle it.” Lia raised an eyebrow at the obviously overwhelmed girl- an expression she didn't use often. She was joking, right? Lia never really understood jokes like that though- and Anna didn't seem to be laughing.

"No," Lia said briefly but loudly enough for Anna to hear. Two agents came at her, and she held up her own dagger ready to fight. Her shoulder still kind of hurt, but it was really only a dull ache. At this point her pain tolerance was incredible and one shot wasn't going to keep her from fighting. Before they could get to her, two daggers killed them, and Lia turned to thank Anna. But the words faded when she saw the girl on her knees. She was looking somewhere else though. Following her gaze she saw Grey being taken to one of their cars. He was limp. Is he dead? she wondered, horrified. No, if he was dead they wouldn't be taking the body... right?

Lia looked back at Anna to say she'd go help him, but Anna took one loop at her and collapsed. Lia was trying not to panic as she ran over to the girl to see what was wrong. She was injured, yes, but nothing that should have made her pass out like that. On instinct Lia reached out her hand to Anna, a gentle purple glow surrounding her palm. But before she could even attempt to heal the girl there was a sharp prick on her neck. Her arm came up to touch it, but she found her arm felt heavy- and soon the rest of her body did too. They'd been drugged like wild animals. But she didn't really care, all she could think of was the three of them not outside, and where they were right now.

Ryuu followed quietly behind Clock and Alice, right to the attic. Had Clock read his mind? Well, obviously not, but it was still a little uncanny. Almost the second they were up there Clock was back to tinkering. At first Ryuu felt slightly annoyed, what the hell was he doing they were in trouble. But he knew Clock had an idea. The only problem was that his silence meant his idea was not something he felt like sharing. Which worried Ryuu. A lot.

"What's he doing?" a small voice came from beside him. Ryuu blinked once, looking down at Alice who was sitting back in her wheelchair. He smiled at her expression- a sort of subtle determination.

"I think he's trying to make a way for us to escape," he told her casually before a thought dawned on him. His eyes narrowed at the blond boy, whose back was to them. "All of us, I hope," Ryuu said, still technically talking to Alice but raising his voice enough to let Clock know it was meant for him too. He wouldn't buy into that self-sacrifice bull. And if it came down to it, he would drag Clock with them by his hair. He didn't care if Clock was technically older and should be in charge and blah blah blah. He was taller- in Ryuu's mind that was enough to give him the power to argue with Clock. Which he fully planned on doing. Till he heard a noise outside the attic door and froze.

Keeping his voice very low, he whispered, "Did you guys hear that?"

They were running out of time. The footsteps drew closer, their breaths hushing to whispers as the tension became visible. Alice was rigid, fright apparent in her body language. Suddenly the door burst open and their time was up. Alice screamed as the agents charged. She clung to Ryuu, her eyes shut tight. She was helpless in these types of situations, too scared to move or go into action. It wasn't two minutes later before she was ripped away, out of her chair which was flung aside in the fight. Alice struggled, clawing and scratching and trying to inflict whatever damage she could. It was like a rabbit compared to a bear, her minuscule attacks had no real effect. In fact, Alice was pretty sure she could hear the security agent giggling it was so pitiful.

Suddenly there was a prick in her neck and the world began to slow, pain caused her body to convulse and the agent began to curse. It felt like she couldn't breathe, Alice went from attacking the man to clawing at her chest, trying to get oxygen to go into her lungs. Her eyes were wide and doe like, tears prickling the edges. She felt another prick, this one going into her neck and her lungs began to expand again normally. The world turned a hazy grey, or perhaps she was just sleepy. At first she tried to fight it, wanting to stay awake, to make sure Ryuu and Clock were alright, but the more she tried to fight it, the more tired Alice felt. Soon she could no longer resist and her eyes closed, her body going limp.

When Alice awoke her head hurt. There was a tube tickling her nose, providing oxygen most likely due to the scare before. She was laying on her stomach, her back exposed. Her clothes from their home were gone, replaced by a white gown and bandages around her middle. She needn't guess what they tried to do, as Alice knew they had already begun trying to fix her legs again. Alice craned her neck around, she was back in her old room, everything still in place as though it had been frozen in time, waiting for her return. She struggled against the binds but found that moving was very painful. A whimper soon replaced her steady breathing as pain became the only thing she could feel. Tears pricked her eyes once more and began to run down her cheeks. The sensors on her pillow buzzed, alerting whoever was behind the one-way-wall that she was crying. "Anna," Alice sniffled, wanting the girl who had been so motherly to her. The door opened with a hiss and a nurse stepped inside, holding several vials and a very long needle.

"I need you to hold still." The nurse directed, her voice soft but her grip firm. Alice cried out in pain as the needle was inserted into her back. A cold sensation followed and the room spun once more. It felt as though things were in slow motion when the door opened once more and a doctor and technician stepped inside. "No." Alice whispered, she didn't want them mucking around in her body anymore. "Please no more," she bit her lower lip, knowing that they didn't care what she wanted. Another cold feeling running up and down her spine. Blackness swallowed her once more, but unlike the last one, this sleep was not dreamless.

Grey awoke with an awful taste in his mouth. It was as though someone had poured metal onto his teeth and coated his tongue in it. His limbs felt heavy, his shirt was gone, the blood cleaned up. There were electrodes attached to him, greedily reading his pulse and heart rate, oxygen intake, etc. He pulled them off one by one, sticking them against the wall. Grey slowly reached up, touching the collar around his neck and freezing as nightmares flooded his mind. He pushed the heel of his hand against one of his eye sockets, flinching as he tried to make the images go away, to clear his mind.

The door opened and Grey looked up, his body going rigid. "N-no, you're supposed to be dead," tears filled his eyes, blurring his vision. The doctor that had tried to help them escape, who had gotten himself shot to allow them all to run stood before Grey, a tight lipped smile splaying on his lips. "Yes, well this whole thing was a test. A simulation if you will, one that you all failed miserably." Grey's shoulders shook with rage, this whole thing, all these years... A test? So it had all been fake? "Liar," Grey came at him so fast, the doctor didn't have time to move. His eyes widened as Grey punched him, his body flying back into the opposite wall. "Liar!" There was no way this could have been planned, too many things went wrong, too many outsider factors that couldn't have been taken into account. "Yes, it was all fake, your every move was always watched." He straightened, lifting his hands to defend himself as Grey came at him again. Two orderlies ran in, flinging themselves in front of the doctor to protect him and then restraining Grey against the other wall.

"I'll kill you! I'll fu*** kill you!" Grey's anger was not something they liked to deal with, the last time he had gone off like this he had accidentally killed two very important doctors. "Where are the others! Tell me!" One of the orderlies pushed against his pressure points, causing Grey to cry out in pain. "If you behave yourself and they stay in line as well, you'll be able to see them. Keep this up though and I'll make sure you spend the rest of your miserable life in this room." The orderlies allowed grey to slide to the floor, the three of them striding out, the door clicking shut behind them.

It wasn't Grey's room, but an isolation room. Where they sent the Children who were acting out of line in order to try to get them to come to their senses. He continued to shake with rage, breathing in and out slowly to calm himself. He couldn't blow up, not here, not now. Grey needed to bide his time, he needed to see the others, make sure they were alright. "I swear to whatever Higher Power if you hurt any of them..." He bit down on his thumb hard, the taste of blood filling his mouth. [color=#96CDCD]"I'll fu*** kill you. I'll kill you all."

“Lia, run!” Annalise jolted upwards with a newfound burst of energy. Her chest heaved as she inhaled rapidly, as if air was a commodity going out of style. Each breath she took couldn’t seem to reach her lungs and the blond girl felt panic set in with each unsatisfying gulp. It wasn’t until the harsh nostalgia of artificial lighting scorched her vision did the air hit her lungs in a relieving wave. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, and Anna tried to get her bearings as her eyes adjusted to the bright lights.

She was stuck in a stark white room. The bloody battlefield outside the house was gone, the smell of blood replaced with cleaning supplies and the sounds of a battle replaced with the continuous mumble of machines hidden behind walls. Everything around her felt sanitized and regulated, actually that probably was exactly what it was, and it put dread pooling in the pit of Anna’s stomach. She was back at the facility, she had failed to beat the men that had come for her family, her family was probably back in the facility it.

The girl went to stand up quickly, but was jolted to a halt when both her legs and arms resisted her. Looking down she saw that her ankles were shackled with medical cuffs, the give on them not enough to take even a single step. Her wrists were cuffed too, but the length of the chain was enough for her to be able to stand up straight with her hands above her head. The most concerning of her restraints were that her hands were wrapped and covered, which meant it would be impossible to conjuring anything to aid in escaping her sterile prison. The girl tugged on the chains, testing their durability, and finding they were secured to ensure she could not escape.

“You’ve been a bad girl Anna.” The blonde girl’s head shot up when a voice suddenly materialized in the room. Some one, a woman, was speaking to her through speakers implanted in the walls, completely enveloping her in their voice. The girl sucked in a breath, worried that if she moved a shock wave would be sent through the chains. It had been done to her in the past, acts of rebellion were quelled and snuffed out before they could develop into something substantial using methods such as electrocution. A moment passed and Anna exhaled when a shock never came, the moment she did the voice popped to life again. It was warm and comforting. “That’s a good girl Anna, I knew you were really a good girl.”

That was right, Anna was a good girl. She did her best to be a good girl, to earn the praise of those around her, and to protect those that couldn’t protect themselves. She was docile and kind, the image of a perfect lady. She did not question, she did not oppose, the facility would take care of her and her family.

Anna felt herself stiffen suddenly. The praise triggering her as if she had been actually electrocuted, they were trying to make her submissive again. It had been so ingrained her mind not to oppose that they hadn’t even had to hurt her to send her back into that docile state. The very thought had her mind whirling again, and she jerked herself to her feet, nearly falling in her restraints.

“I will never listen to you again!” She yelled, her throat felt dry with cottonmouth, but she forced her voice out nonetheless. Images of her new family flashed before her eyes, giving the girl the motivation to not give in. “I am not yours, and you cannot decide what I am and am not! I will save my family!”

The girl was brought to her knees in an uncontrollable jerking shock. Her whole body convulsed as the electricity ran through her, and the injury from her back surged to the forefront of her mind. Even after they stopped the shock, she continued to convulse on the floor for several minutes, blood gurgling up and splattering across the floor with each hacking cough/scream that was forced out her throat.

“Bad girl Anna.”

"Lilly."
Lia jerked awake, expecting to have to fight for her life. But there was no one in the room with her. She felt uneasy, looking around at the empty white room. There was a door, but she'd bet anything that it was locked. But besides that, she had recognized the voice. Only one person ever called her Lilly. She felt ill. But no one was in the room, so had she imagined him speaking? The thought didn't make her feel any better.

Suddenly she felt panicked. On the outside she looked as calm as ever, but her thoughts were racing. She knew the others would have been caught too- well, Grey and Anna were. Maybe the younger half of the group had managed to get away but she didn't get her hopes up. The room was cold and she found herself shivering. She heard the door open and was immediately on the other side of the room, backed up against a wall.

"So defensive, Lilly. I don't remember teaching you to run," a voice said, sounding sickly sweet.

"Don't call me that," she replied, but her voice was quiet and weak. Her teacher, her trainer, and ultimately her betrayer, was standing in front of her. She wished nothing more than to have her daggers with her, but she didn't have anything with her anymore. Not even the wounds from fighting, having long since healed on their own.

He was speaking, saying something about tests and behaving and second chances. She wasn't paying attention. She was thinking of everyone else; were they okay? "Where's my family?"

"You don't have any family, Lilly. You know that." In the next moment she was on top of him, punching his face with all the strength she could muster. Which actually happened to be a fair amount considering her tiny frame. She certainly wasn't strong enough to stop him from pushing her off, but she had at least gotten enough punches in to make his face bloodied.
"Where's my family?!" She was yelling now, more emotion in her voice than even she was used to. Her hands were shaking. He was cursing, holding his nose. Did I break it? she wondered. Image

Guards suddenly started to fill the room- similar looking to the agents who had attacked them all before. She felt her body going into a defensive stand despite knowing there was no feasible way she would be able to fight them all off. But she knew they wouldn't kill her, not after all of this. And she wasn't just going to sit here passively and make it easy for them.

"What are you waiting for?" Her voice had returned to its usual passive tone, and before anyone even could consider her question she attacked the guards. But there were more of them, and they were armed. Soon she was beaten and locked back in the room alone. She was sure her leg broke, but she also knew no one would be sent in to fix it. She'd heal on her own. And they knew that.

Image Alice clung to his side as agents burst in the room. The only thing he could think to do was to hold onto her tightly and back away- but there was no where to go. They tried to pull her from his arms but he refused to budge until one of the agents hit him with the side of their gun, making his vision blur. They pulled her away and grabbed him.

"Let go of her!" he yelled, panicking and frantically trying to get free once he'd seen Alice go limp. Once he saw them make a grab for Clock, he lost it, the light in the room seeming to grow dimmer as he stilled in the agents arms. He felt the guy loosen his grip, just slightly, but enough for him to rip himself away and turn on the man. In the next moment there was fire, and the man was screaming as the flames consumed him. Ryuu meant to run for his 'siblings' after that, but felt a sharp prick in his neck and found he couldn't will his limbs to move. He tried to turn his head, looking for someone, but could already feel his consciousness slipping. "Clock..."
~~~
He woke up in the dark. He couldn't move, but he didn't need to look to know he was tied down. Probably to one of the scientist's "work" tables, because he was laying down. While his eyes began to adjust to the dark light, he tugged at his bonds to see if he could get free. He could remember the events up until he passed out clearly, and there was only one thought in his head. Escape. A door opened and a light flicked on. Ryuu winced at the sudden brightness, squinting to see who had come in. He didn't recognize her, but she was wearing the same white outfit the scientists wore.
"How are you feeling?" she asked, but her voice was carefully controlled. She didn't actually care how he felt, that much was obvious.
"F*ck you."
"That's not very polite. See? Go out on your own for just awhile and look where you are. It's better for you to stay here, under our careful watch."
"F*ck you."
She frowned at him, shaking her head slightly as if she were disappointed in a small child. On instinct he tried to jump at her, only to be cruelly reminded he couldn't move. So he settled on growling at her. She didn't seem even slightly fazed as she walked over, reaching onto a table full of knives and needles he hadn't noticed before. Ryuu paled, suddenly feeling desperate to get out of there. Not because of the pain that was surely going to follow, but because of the thought of seeing his own blood. He felt sick.
Without really thinking about it, the straps holding him down suddenly caught fire. The flames burned his own skin, something he wasn't used to. He screamed, rather loudly, and the scientist gave him a startled look before backing up a bit. With the pain the flames stopped, not having burned the binds enough to break through but definitely burning long enough to leave bad burns on Ryuu's wrists and ankles. He hissed, suddenly going still and closing his eyes. He couldn't get out on his own- he didn't even know how. He had to find the others first. So, even as the lady came back and began sticking him with needles, he didn't move or open his eyes.
The restraints had come off at one point. Her ankle cuffs had popped open with an automated buzz and the fully enclosed casing that had bound her hands fell off in a similar manner, hitting the ground with a heavy metal thunk and was left discarded. The voice that spoke to her through the walls had alerted her to the newfound freedom only seconds before. Be a good girl, It had said. Do not defy me, It had implored.
The moment the hand cuffs had hit the floor she had sprung to action, and after days on borderline torture she was still able to bring forth over fifteen fully formed daggers. She guessed her anger fueled the large number of conjured items because she was in no state to be able to accomplish such a thing. A pain in the middle of her back bloomed as she attempted a dash to freedom, it had been where one of the agents had hit her on the day her family was captured and it felt just as raw as the moment she got it. “Bad girl Anna.” The voice sang to her, firm and reprimanding with the care of a mother. The blonde girl doubled over, her body lurching in harsh dry heaves and the familiar taste of blood graced her lips. Why hadn’t they fixed her injury yet?
“Bad children don’t get rewards Anna.” It sang as a faceless nurse moved into the room, the girl was in too much pain to take advantage of the opportunity and could offer no more than a weak kick as the restraints were shackled back to her ankles, and a chained collar was placed around her neck. The heavy handcuffs were replaced it great effort and her eyes followed the nurse as she exited. The voice in the wall began whispering to her, making it hard to discern if it was actually real or not. “Anna, you’re a good girl, but it’s your fault I do this.”
The electricity that coursed through the collar and anklets sent Anna into unconsciousness.
She was pushed back into consciousness painfully and with slow waves. There were nurses around her, but every time she blinked it felt like she was in a different setting with different people. A lab, a garden, a school yard, a cafeteria, a lab, the white room, a shower, a lab, the light bulbs, a lab, a lab, a lab. She was able to organize her thoughts when a man pushed her into a sitting position.
Her hands were still cuffed, but the collar was gone and the ankle cuffs were gone. They didn’t seem to realize she was coming to consciousness as one forced a brush through her knotted locks of blonde hair and the other feverishly applied cakes of cover up to the agitated burns from where the ankle cuffs had fitted to her body.
“Why they treating this one so poorly? Ain’t it one of those perfect star whatevers?” The one pushing her into what appeared to be a wheelchair said.
“There testing a submission method on it. By making it compliant the big shots will be able to promote it to sponsors to get more money to support further research.” The other commented back. It sounded as if the other would comment further, but Anna let out a groan as she was shifted the wrong way. Instead the man behind her shifted his conversation directly towards her.
“Alright, wake up kid, you’ve gotta be presentable today.” She didn’t respond, her head lolling backwards as he stopped supporting her. He sighed in annoyance, shaking the girl by the shoulders gently, it succeeded in bringing the girl into a stronger state of awareness, and immediately she stiffened. The man painting away her injuries suddenly spoke up.
“Calm down kid, you don’t wanna act out and miss this reward.” He spoke smoothly and nonchalantly, and it caught the girl off-guard after having no positive human interaction for days. She didn’t even flinch back as he moved up to her face, taking foundations and color to her face with what felt like great practice. Hiding all the mistreatment with practice and ease.
She sat tense and statue-like as he continued, and the man behind her hummed to fill what would have otherwise been an awkward silence. Her mind was reeling in the possibilities of the reward, she didn’t so much care for a reward, but for a chance to get out of the white room. Though, after a few minutes curiosity got the better of her and she spoke up for the first time.
“What reward could possibly be so great?”
“Can’t ruin the surprise.” The man sang as he stood up and examined the work he had done on her face, he looked satisfied. “You look goddess-like.” He said to her, but the compliment sounded as if he was praising himself rather than paying her beauty any respect. The man behind her began pushing the wheelchair forward and as they went more guards accompanied them. They moved in silence for nearly ten minutes before stopping before swinging double doors. “You walk the rest.”
She turned her head to give the man a questioning look, but pushed her body up regardless. Everything hurt, and moving made her head spin. She looked back reluctantly at the man who had escorted her, but he only waved his hand forward in a gesture to urge her forward. Sighing, she girl turned towards the doors, moving forward she opened them, but even that felt like it took half her energy.
The moment she saw what her reward was the girl’s legs went to jello. Her hand slapped over her mouth and Anna’s eyes went wide with shock before blurring with tears. Grey and Alice were standing in what appeared to be a cafeteria. She took a few wobbly testing steps before running forward, all the pain she was in was forced down as she rushed towards the two. Even with her hands still restrained she was able to run with ease.
“Alice! Grey!” She yelled, the largest smile she could muster gracing her features. With her hands still in the restraints she wasn’t able to throw the two into a giant hug and instead just barreled into the older boy. Being locked in the room all alone the girl only wanted to feel the warmth of her family around her.
Lia was sitting on her bed. Well, it wasn't exactly her bed, nothing here was hers. But she wasn't going to sit on the floor to protest the matter or anything. It wouldn't do any good. Besides, they had been silent since the first visit. After her going slightly crazy and trying to kill everything in sight, they just locked her in the room and left her there. Now with the time to actually take in her surroundings, she saw the camera and speaker. She knew they were watching, and now knew she hadn't just imagined his voice talking to her before. The thought made her feel better, but she didn't like thinking she was being constantly watched. It made even something as simple as walking across the room feel awkward.
There was a knock on the door to her room, and all thoughts of 'awkwardness' disappeared as she jumped to her feet. Something about her stance must have been aggressive, because the door didn't open and a voice came through the intercom thing. "If you attack us you will stay in here. You've been called to lunch. Behave." Lia looked up at the camera, frowning. She didn't even look away when the door opened. She just continued to stare dumbly at the camera. Why would they let her go anywhere after the fit she threw? They're trying to make us comfortable. The thought made her happy and angry all at once. She hated them for trying to get them to just accept this as their home. But she wasn't going to be locked in this room 24/7. That alone was enough to lift her spirits.
A cough drew her attention to the man standing by the doorway. He was staring at her leg, which she found kind of creepy till she realized she recognized him. He had broken her leg back when she freaked out. Something about his confused expression made her smile ever so slightly. Apparently someone didn't give him the memo that it took a lot more than that to permanently injure her. It had hurt like hell the whole night, but now it was relatively okay. Enough to walk on it, at least.
"This way," he said after a moment, seeming to have given up trying to puzzle out how she could stand. What, did he think he'd have to carry her? He didn't have crutches with him.
Lia nodded shortly, following behind him as she was led through the maze of hallways. As they got closer she started to recognize hallways, her memories of the building slowly coming back to her. She realized they were going only moments before arriving at the cafeteria.
When she spotted the three she smiled, an actual smile this time. Anna seemed to have just arrived, currently hugging Grey. Sort of. Her hands appeared to be cuffed. Lia found this strange and looked down at her own hands. She had practically tried to kill everyone in the room with her. She was pretty sure she had killed at least one, but the memories were fuzzy already. Why would they trust her not to pull anything?
Lia pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind, instead walking over to her family. Well, some of them. "You're okay," she said softly, her voice sounding relieved. She was sure all of them hadn't had an easy time so far, but at least they were alive. Breathing. "Thank god." And with that she knelt by Alice, hugging the small girl before going and giving a bear hug to the other two.
"Since you've behaved so wonderfully, I've been told to let you go to lunch with the others today," the 'doctor' lady told him. For the first time in awhile he opened his eyes, looking over at her. His expression was blank but he nodded. When he tried to lift himself up off the table, he almost fell to the floor. The lady was watching him, looking pleased. He could see her out of the corner of his eye, but refused to acknowledge her, instead gritting his teeth and forcing himself to stand. Everything hurt, between whatever drugs they kept putting in his system and the amount of blood they kept taking, he was surprised he could move at all. They had explained to him that the drugs were to keep himself from burning himself again- to make him be unable to focus or something along those lines. They were just making sure he didn't burn them to crisps.
The pain was partially his fault too, his wrists and ankles still severely burned from when he first got there. He felt really stupid having injured himself, but most of all hated how smug the doctors looked about it. They'd bandaged him up, so now he had bandages covering his wrists and hands. They made movement awkward, but they were thin enough that he could at least move his wrists. It hurt when he did, but at least he could.
"Before you go, you need to take this," the lady said, stepping in front of him and holding out a small pill. He took it without a word, swallowing it down with the water she offered to him. He didn't question what they gave him any more. He was going to take it either way, and he found he preferred not knowing. At least she hadn't asked to take another blood sample. He shuddered. How much blood could they take before it killed him?
"Can we go now?" he asked, startling the lady. He hadn't spoken in awhile, so the reaction was more or less expected.
She nodded, and as she led him to the lunch room he couldn't help but feel like he had given up. At first, he had told himself to act compliant to get what he wanted. In a weird way, he still had control over the situation. He knew how to act to get what he wanted, and if she was telling the truth, he had got it. But he couldn't help but feel... cheated. Scared. And drowsy. Very drowsy.
He hadn't realized they had stopped walking till the lady cleared her throat. He looked up at her, and then at the door she nodded to. Oh. Nodding, he pushed open the door. Which was a lot harder than he would have liked to admit. His eyes darted across the room, spotting Lia, Alice, Grey, and Anna all huddled together. He felt like smiling and running over to them, but neither thing happened. Instead he found himself walking over at the same pace he had walked down the hall at. Seeing Alice made him feel guilty. He had let her get caught. He hadn't been able to fight them off, and now they were both here.
"Sorry," he mumbled, looking over at her, but his voice was so faint he wasn't sure if she heard him. In fact, he wasn't sure he'd actually said it.
Alice was so happy to see mostly everyone, they were all here, except Clock who she hoped had escaped or maybe never had been captured in the first place. "Anna you look pretty," Alice noted, detecting a bit of makeup on her eyelids. She looked like a Goddess, nearly glowing compared to the others who looked downtrodden and had sad smiles on their faces despite the fact that they were finally reunited. Alice hugged Anna, then Lia, but when Ryuu walked in looking like a zombie her smile faded. She rolled up to him, hearing his soft murmur that was so quiet she had almost missed it. "It's alright," Alice smiled, she didn't blame Ryuu one bit. It wasn't his fault they had gotten taken, he couldn't have fought against that many agents, especially since there would have been blood involved. Alice hugged his leg since that was where she came up to on him, something about Ryuu was off, it was as though he were sleep walking.
Alice looked up at Ryuu with a questioning expression. "Are you alright?" She inquired, suddenly noticing the bandages. What had they been doing to Ryuu? Were they hurting him? "Why don't we get something to eat?" Maybe it would make him feel better and clear whatever fog he seemed to be having? Or perhaps he was hypoglycemic? Alice was about to turn to go get food when the doors opened and a group of Doctors strode in, their expressions were serious, their lips set in grim lines. Had something happened?
"Ah, it seems everyone is here." The Doctors parted like the Red Sea to let whoever spoke in front of them. It was a woman in a lab coat with graying hair. "There is going to be a presentation, you all will be prepared to be viewed by our sponsors. You are not to utter a word while they are here. Shall you do a good job your reward will be one hour outside, if you fail to listen to instructions you will be punished severely. Please have your fill of lunch. Your names will be called to be led down the hall to receive fresh clothes." She didn't mention the part where they would be made over to look presentable. "That is all," the group turned and huddled around her, leaving in a bunch. Alice couldn't help but giggle, they looked like penguins waddling after their King.
One of the doctors branched off and suddenly slapped her across the face, hard. Her wheelchair turned over, Alice fell out, the chair pinning her to the ground. Her cheek stung, her eyes welled up with tears. "This is a serious situation, do not giggle," the Doctor lectured, his voice coming out in a hiss. He did not even bothering to help her up. Rather the Doctor turned and strode out with out so much as another word.
Grey was so relieved, he tried to hug Anna back, but between Alice in his arms and Anna's hands in cuffs it was hard. He put Alice back in her chair, hugging Anna properly. "I'm so glad you're alright," Gre7 whispered. It was the truth, Grey had been so worried, especially about Anna who the scientists seemed to have taken a particular interest in. The door swung open and suddenly Lia was there. Grey opened his arms to receive the hug, his smile widening. Then Ryuu arrived and it seemed almost everyone was there. Ryuu was looking down though and he was oddly quiet. They all appeared to be pretty beat up, but their spirits were not completely broken, that much Grey could tell. "I'm going to get us all out of here," he promised, his hands clenching into fists. His voice was quiet so that only they could hear. Grey would get them out of this place if it was the last thing he did. Even if he died in the process he would ensure they escaped.
"I'm sorry," he suddenly apologized, "even though I promised, I couldn't protect you." Grey had made a decision that he would never let the others cry, he would never let them be so miserable that they would break down into a puddle of tears. He failed though and so it made Grey feel like a fraud. He could see small bruises on Anna's skin despite the fact that they had attempted to cover them up, Lia looked as though she were in pain, Ryuu had bandages on his wrists and ankles, and Alice had a PICC in her arm. Grey wanted to console them all, to make their hurt go away and return them to the previous state of happiness. He wanted to return to their home in the Catskills where they played house and acted as though they were a real family.
The doors swung open, the Doctors strode in. One spoke about them being presented to sponsors, that they would be given fresh clothes and no doubt be groomed for appearances. Why were there sponsors coming here? Why not take them to the facility where the Good Little Star Dust Children lived? He cringed at the thought of them cutting his hair short again, it had taken years for his bald head to finally grow hair. Further he didn't want to be forced to prance around for some humans who would give the Doctors money to torture more children in the name of science.
When they finally left Grey sighed in relief. He sat down on one of the benches and started thinking about ways to get out. No doubt they would have blocked off the first exit route, or at least instilled extra security. Grey was pulled from his thoughts by a sudden cry of pain. His eyes widened as he watched Alice's chair overturn, the girl toppling with it. The Doctor that had struck her huffed on the way out and Grey ran, not towards Alice, but towards the doors. They closed though before he could get a hold of the man that had caused her pain. A shock filled his body when he banged on the door, yelling about an eye for an eye and he was going to pummel the Doctor for striking Alice. Grey slid to the ground, breathing hard as the pain left as quickly as it had come.
"I'm so glad you're alright.” Was exactly what Anna wanted to say the two of them. She had been so scared after the way that she was being treated that they hadn’t even spared the rest of her family. She bared the same burden as Grey, she felt the guilt from not being able to protect them, especially the younger kids. She had made a promise to herself that she would never be back here, and that she would never put these kids through this again. But here they were, all reliving the exact Hell they had aimed to escape from.
Anna barely had control of her emotions has Lia entered the cafeteria next. There was so much relief that at least these three were alive that the blonde girl was on the verge of tears. Going days without any human contact other than masked nurses and blurry doctors made her grateful for the interaction with her family. When Lia approached the three Anna didn’t hesitate to throw the girl into a strong hug, lifting her restrained hands so they went over the girl’s head and rested her arms on Lia’s shoulders. Anna squeezed Lia as if letting go meant losing her.
“Thank god you’re here too.”She murmured before releasing her. Anna trailed her eyes up and down Lia, making sure she had no serious injuries on her body. Not that Lia would have injuries, he healing power was good at fixing her up, but any recent abuse had a chance of still being present.
As she took a step back she did the same to Grey and Alice, the older boy seemed a bit roughed up, and Alice seemed like she had been put through the wringer, but both seemed in high spirits now that they were reuniting. Anna could say the same for herself too, she hadn’t had any motivation for anything other than to disobey, but seeing her family put warmth in her stomach that had been absent the past few days.
"Anna you look pretty," Despite the make-up only being served to hide the abuse treatment she had been submitted to Anna couldn’t help the grin that formed on her lips. She knelt down so that she was eye level with the youngest of their family and rested her cuffed hands on the girls knees. “When we get out of here I’ll do your make-up for you whenever you want, okay?”
It wasn’t until Ryuu walked in that the pleasant feeling that had been spreading was cut short. Of all the kids, he definitely looked the worse. He had bandages all over his arms and he was walking with the heavy steps and disassociation of a heavily medicated person. If Anna’s hands weren’t completely restrained they would have clenched into fists in anger. Ryuu being in such a state only reminded her of all the awful possibilities the facility was capable of, not to mention it didn’t seem as if the doctors were even considering bringing Clock to their reunion, and as an important looking female doctor paraded in it only solidified the fact that Clock would not be joining them.
She said they were to be exhibited to nasty rich people as if nothing more than cheap circus acts, dumb animals that were to do as they were told. Anna’s lip curled at the thought, and the idea to lunge at the doctor did grace her thoughts for a moment. But, before she could act on any whims the group was already leaving, in just a flashy manner as they came. She wasn’t happy, but this event could provide them an opportunity to escape, and definitely worth behaving to earn.
It wasn’t until one of the male doctors rose his hand to Alice did Anna feel something inside of her snap. It her powers weren’t being restrained by the cuffs she was sure all those doctors would have been dead in a heart beat as the rage swelled inside her like a volcano. Inside she would have to settled for physical attacks, but Grey beat her to punch. She turned her attention to Alice instead, rushing to the girl’s side to make sure she was ok.
The slap had been hard enough to knock the girl and her wheelchair over, and Anna couldn’t begin to imagine how much it had actually hurt. As she bent to check over the little girl she could hear Grey hit the door and get shocked, it tensed her own muscles after days of shock treatment and her mind was whirling into action.
“Lia, help Grey!” She commanded quickly, doing her best to gently raise the wheel chair into a standing position without proper use of her hands. “Alice, don’t you worry, I won’t let them touch a single hair on your head ever again.”
She smiled warmly, but couldn’t get her tone to match the expression at the thought of the people who ran this facility, she wanted them to die as painfully as possible.
Things were happening too fast for her to keep up. First Ryuu had walked in, and she couldn't help but feel worried about the way he was acting. But she hadn't been given long to dwell on it, as in the next moment doctors were coming in and giving them some speech about being 'presented' and needing to get dressed up. Or something along those lines. She was having trouble caring about anything they had to say. It wasn't really until they started to leave that things went bad. One moment they were walking out, the next Alice was on the floor and Grey was charging after them.
Lia wanted to run to Alice and see if the girl was hurt, but Anna's voice stopped her, yelling at her to help Grey instead. "Ryuu, help Anna," she hissed at the boy who was still standing by her side, looking dazed. And with that she ran over to Grey who was on the floor. Really, he seemed to get electrocuted a lot. Not that being electrocuted once was deemed normal.
She reached a hand out, a faint purple light glowing from her palm as she placed her hand over his own. She could feel some damage from the electricity being fixed as she tried to 'heal' him, but for the most part, he seemed to be okay. At least, not in pain. "You alright?" she asked anyways, just to make sure. She could feel a headache building up the moment the light left her palm, but her face gave nothing away. Pain wasn't something she was new too, and pain this mild could easily be hidden. Sadly, unlike her other wounds, it wouldn't go away as quickly.
It's alright. The words were still bouncing around in his head when the doctors came in. He didn't know why he was having trouble focusing...no, wait. He did. Didn't he? Shaking his head slightly, he tried to go back to whatever train of thought he had been on. Alice said it was okay. Ryuu's shoulders slumped slightly in relief. That was good. She didn't hate him. Grey had apologized too, but he wasn't sure what for. Ryuu had hidden while he was fighting to protect them. Grey had nothing to apologize for.
Having been lost in his own head, Ryuu hadn't really noticed anything until Alice was falling out of her wheel chair. His eyes widened, mind trying to quickly catch up to what was going on. There was a doctor. Grey was yelling. The doctors were gone. Grey was on the floor too. "Wha-"
"Ryuu, help Anna." Ryuu's head jerked toward the voice. Lia. But by the time he was looking she was already running to Grey. Almost like on autopilot, Ryuu tried to run to Anna and Alice, but it was more of a jog. Anna's hands were bound, which made doing anything a little difficult, so he went over to help her lift Alice back into her now upright wheel chair. Now that his thoughts had caught up to the moment he was kind of pissed, and the emotion alone helped him clear his head a bit. He didn't want to be angry, but he didn't want to be dazed either. So he desperately clung to the emotion as he looked over Alice to make sure she wasn't hurt.
"We're going to get out of here. I'll kill them all if I have to," Ryuu said, more to himself than anyone else. Though his voice sounded sure, his eyes were uncertain. They had escaped once, sure. But how many times could they just get out before luck ran out.
When Ryuu came over and voiced killing the employees of the facility if they harmed Alice again Anna had to agree with him. They had no right be unnecessarily mean to the little girl, they had no right to experiment on her in the ways they did, and they didn’t deserve to live after continuously doing wrong for so long. But Alice, being the sweetest child to ever walk this earth, couldn’t agree with them. It made Anna feel a little guilty that she had so much bloodlust when, even if Alice was directly the victim of their cruelty, she could still see beyond it.
Anna looked towards Ryuu, who seemed to be snapping out of the trance he had been in, and she was glad he was back with them. She was distracted, however; when the smell of food began to waft through the room. It had only been a few days, but Anna craved real food desperately, being fed nutrient packed mashes, and through IV drips was nowhere near satisfying. Her own stomach rumbled in complaint to the smell, and she had to consciously stop herself from drooling over it. She had to look like she was in control and unbothered because Alice clearly was affected by the food.
“Well Alice, we can’t have any right now, but when we get out of here, I’ll get you whatever food you want, and you can eat as much as you want.”
She gave Alice a warm smile before her eyes darted around the room. They needed an escape plan already, and the best opportunity might come during the sponsor event. The doctors wouldn’t want all the extra security present for the sponsors because that would make it seem like the kids were dangerous, but that could work to their advantage. Of course, attempting escape during a sponsor event and failing meant punishment that would blow their current treatment out of the water, so she had to decide if the risk was worth it. She looked over at Ryuu, the poor kid had been through so much already, did she want to risk putting all these kids through something even worse? “You too Ryuu, I’ll get you any food you could possibly think of once we get out.”
"When I get big, I want to be as pretty as you." The statement struck a cord with Anna. Not because she complimented, but the fact Alice saw herself living for years to come despite the horrible situation she was in and the near torture they put her through. The blonde girl felt her eyes prick with a telltale foreshadow to tears and she moved so she was pressing her forehead to Alice’s. She took a steading breath so that her voice wouldn’t waver, and as she started speaking she could hear the warm smile in her own voice.
“Oh darling, you’re already as pretty as me. Once you get to be my age you’ll have surpassed my looks by far.” As she pulled back, confident that she had her emotions under control Anna was wearing a huge smile. When she looked at Alice all she wanted was for the girl to smile back, it reminded her of her own mother, who was always saying similar things to Anna and she wondered if this was how she had felt back when Anna was so little.
Lia almost outright ignored Grey's complaint about her using her powers on him. He worried too much for his own sake, really. But when she looked at him he looked genuinely upset about, well, probably everything. She was too, of course, but she was pretty sure she didn't share the look he had. It was kind of what she'd imagine heartbreak to be like. Biting her lip, Lia tried to think of something positive to say, but her headache was becoming a full blown migraine and nothing came to mind.
"Why don't we join the others?" Lia blinked, suddenly noticing the smell of freshly made food in the room. Her stomach growled. When was the last time she ate? "Okay..."
She started to walk over to the others, but stopped, turning back to Grey and giving him a bear hug. "Don't you dare tell me not to waste my powers to help you. It's not a waste." Stepping back, she tried to give her version of a small smile before walking over to Anna, Alice, and Ryuu. She meant what she said, it wasn't a waste. The fact that he'd even say it was kind of upset her. Anna and Alice appeared to be talking while Ryuu just kind of... stood there. There was something dark in his eyes that she didn't quite like, but he seemed to have snapped out of his daze. So that was good. A cursory glance over them informed her that they were all okay. Well, in a relative way of speaking.
"Food?" she asked softly, nodding toward where dishes were set out. God, she was hungry. She had a feeling the only reason they were being fed now was that the sponsors were coming, and wouldn't be good to have starved looking children.
"We can't kill them." Ryuu looked up from the spot he'd been staring at on the floor. Okay, maybe glaring. "That would make us no better than them," Alice said softly, looking up at him. If he felt guilty for what he said, he didn't show it. Alice was sweeter and purer than the rest of them combined, he wasn't all that surprised to hear her response to his violent words. But he hadn't changed his mind. Even as he nodded at the girl, giving a small smile, he knew he wasn't changing his mind. He wasn't going to kill them all if he didn't have to, but if it came down to it...
Alice and Anna started talking, and he kind of zoned out for a minute before hearing his name. “-Ryuu, I’ll get you any food you could possibly think of once we get out.” Ryuu raised an eyebrow at the girl. She really was like big sister. He kind of wondered if he had had any real siblings, if they would have been like her or Grey. It was a thought.
"Thanks," was the mumbled response. Immediately after he cleared his throat and repeated himself, trying to speak louder. The mumbling wasn't good. It showed how out of it he really was, and he didn't like that. How would they get out? The thought was bouncing around in his head, but no answer was becoming very clear. They'd need to all be together, like this, but preferably in better shape and with no one in handcuffs. When the sponsors were around could work, since they would want them all to look "presentable". He was pretty sure that meant no handcuffs, but he could be wrong.
Lia and Grey came over, and Lia mentioned food. He was a bit hungry. Really hungry, actually. "Food sounds perfect," Ryuu added and then preceded to walk over to where said food was set out in a buffet like fashion. There wasn't anything very fancy, but at least it didn't look like cardboard. Only then did his stomach growl, and he didn't waste a moment grabbing a plate and dishing himself up. A thought in the back of his head told him he should be more cautious excepting food from these people, but he couldn't really find it in himself to care when his stomach kept growling at him.
