It was a long time ago, when the world prospered in part thanks to the dual existence and union of technology and magic, it was then that the world was a veritable paradise. Problems like famine, plague, and war didnβt exist in that worldβthe planet was peaceful, and its inhabitants lived long, healthy lives with nary a problem. Yet, for as perfect as the world was, mankind still harbored within them their primordial, age old desire of conquest and exploration. With the known world otherwise charted, subjugated and understood, the ever-curious eyes of mankind turned toward their last, expansive unknownβthe stars.
Little could they have known, or imagined, that ever-curious eyes were looking right back at them too.
Novellus Ithirβs efforts to map and explore the cosmos advanced with hasteβwithin several decades of the first spoken desire to traverse it were robotic probes being sent into the planetβs orbit. The eyes of Novellus Ithir remained upward, to the stars. All the while, the eyes of the stars themselves remained upon the tiny, progressing planet, watching and observing it with care and diligence. It was wondered and questioned if the world and its inhabitants were ready, truly ready to learn the truth of the cosmos, to learn that they were far from alone in the vast, wide universe.
When it became clear that the denizens of Novellus Ithir would soon achieve their newfound dream of deep-space travel and exploration, representatives of a great, galactic government made themselves known to all upon the tiny world, letting its people know that they were not alone among the stars. Whether they were ready for it or not, it happened, Novellus Ithir had become a part of something far larger, it had arrived into an even grander age than before, with the advent of otherworldly life and contact. . . .
Yet, for as magnificent as this era was . . . it was fleeting. For as grand as this new age was, it was also more delicate than any could imagine, and it did not take much for it to come tumbling down.
History merely states that it happened with no warning, that it happened in an instantβacross the whole of the planet, a bright, white life engulfed everything for but a few short seconds, and in its wake, all technology was otherwise rendered useless and broken, sending Novellus Ithir spiraling back into what is known as the Age of Darkness.
The war was rendered null, and most conflict ceased as people attempted to acclimate to their new world, and survive in it without their technology.

Yet, even with that in mind, there remain signs, relicts and ruins from the far off past that remind the world that there really was a before, that Novellus Ithir is a planet with a longer story to tell than they can comprehend. Like the ancient people who once sought to explore the cosmos, the people of the present are at a place where they seek to explore the ruins of their forgotten past to gather the pieces of their worldβs forgotten history, to understand what they lost.
Upon the continent now know as Sedel Csilla, within the country of Illdria, the reigning monarchs of El Fayma, the unofficial capital of the world, have formed organizations specifically for the sake of regulating and observing the discoveries made by those people who seek to explore the world. These organizations recruit and decide whether or not people have the potential to be adventurers, and are people who can be trusted to carry the name of their country on their shoulders.
