Mach the Hedgehog, from Petals of Anier, a roleplay on RPG

Mach has an interesting appearance for a hedgehog. Being from the Hamalkhan mountains, they would not find him strange there, but outside the realm, there would be questions asked. His kind were born of the earth there. Their bodies becoming quite resilient, and hard crystalline spines covered his body. The spines were opaque at the root, and slowly became more transparent until completely at the top. The crystals have a blueish hue to them, making them look like an ornate stone or gem. About 1 foot tall and 1 foot wide, he was truly an interesting "rock" to behold.

Feats/Abilities: Super quick. When I say super quick, I mean approaching the sound barrier at sea-level. Being from the Hamalkhan mountains, he was born from it's core. His spikes are a crystalline composition which are semi-translucent at the bottom, and transparent at the tips. The crystals are extremely hard, accentuating his natural slam abilities. His fortitude is great. He can run for hours on end if he would like to, and he has developed a resistance to cranial impact, preventing concussion. That being said, if he hits something harder than his crystalline spines, he will most likely reel backward from the impact. (we are defying physics and saying that his speed increases to above the sound barrier as he gets higher due to less wind resistance) One of his trademark racial skills is the ability to drill using the spines on his body. Mach can roll up into a ball, and spin on the ground rapidly, this effect is really handy, as the spines on his back will usually drill through most terrain and materials that can be concocted, save adamantine and equivalent materials. He may also use this spin to aid defensively while he breaks into a dash. This effectively only allows attacking creatures to land glancing blows that would be substantially less effective against his already hard army. His languages include: Common, Sylvan

Personality

Mach can best be described as a character who is "like the wind": a drifter who lives as he wants, and makes life a series of events and adventures. In reality, he is very easily convinced of things not dangerous to his person. Mach hates oppression and staunchly defends freedom. This was wrought from his few years in the mines working for a group of slave-owning dwarves, until their monarchy came and saved him and his people. Although he is mostly easy-going he has a short temper and is often impatient with slower things. Mach is a habitual daredevil hedgehog who is honest, loyal to friends, keeps his promises, and dislikes tears. In times of crisis, he focuses intensely on the challenge as if his personality had undergone an astonishing change.

Equipment

Just himself, a small satchel which he uses to collect "golden rings"(you'll understand soon enough), and a small satchel filled with berries, nuts, and greens.

History

Mach lived in the mountains of Hamalkhan for a couple years until his spines hardened, and he was ready to work. At that time, his den was raided by dwarven slave-traders. They took him and the hedgehogs around him, and used them for their mining branch of slaves in the mountains. Those few months were short-lived, as the dwarven monarchy shut down the operation, and set the hedgehogs free. He then spent the majority of his time foraging for food, and running endlessly over the expanse of the countryside. Just a week before the present, he bumped into a small halfling wizard. This wizard saw the little guy, and noticed that he was quite enthralled by his rings. The shiny nature was appealing, and Mach wanted one...but not just one...many! He had an odd affinity for the number 69, and so he was determined to find an collect 69 of those gold rings. The wizard told him, that if you ran really fast over the hills and around the trees, he would run over them, and they would magically appear in his satchel. He is now spending all of this time looking for these rings on the ground, and he is very disappointed he's not getting any...maybe he wasn't running fast enough?
