Charlie

"There's nothing wrong with me! Everyone's afraid of being locked up, right?..."

a character in “Phobos Academy”, as played by plasticdinosaur

Description

Charlie- short for Charlotte, is a pretty girl. Curly brown hair, chocolate eyes, and fair skin she appears very attrative- all but for one thing in her opinion. Charlie was born with a genetic defect that effects her lower limbs and uses either a wheel chair or forearm crutches to get around. How could anyone think that was pretty? She's never been very sure of herself, and has lived a hard life.

Personality

Charlie can be very bright, funny, and friendly, especially to people she feels need a good cheering up or a friend on their side. She is very hard on herself though, and is constantly picking at her own faults and weaknesses, which only makes her think of her claustrophobia as more embarassing. Hating it as a weakness in herself, she can be very bitter and contrite about it, and sometimes lets herself live in a state of denial about it being a problem at all.

Equipment

Forearm crutches- teal or pink, and a lime green framed wheel chair.

History

She's had a rough life. Abandoned as a baby when her disability was discovered, she bounced constantly around foster care. It made her heard hearted and untrusting of adults who she has only known abuse and abondonment from, and overly harsh on herself. Most of her history she keeps to herself, but it can be gotten out of her if given the right reasons, and sometimes it rears its ugly head without her permission...

So begins...

Even the plane to get there was too much for her, such a small space even if there were other people inside of it. In fact, they had practically knocked her out to even get her on the plane. Sedated to the point of barely being able to keep her eyes open, Charlie is helped to stumble off the plane. Two larger men holding the petite girl under her arms, more carrying her than helping her as she concentrates very hard on getting her feet to work as she wants them to, her crutches dangling uselessly at her sides. They sit her in a high backed chair with arms in the main lobby while taking her things up to her new room, leaving her powder pink forearm crutches propped up on the wall beside her. Drowsy the short, thin framed girl slumps forward in her chair, blinking at the way the room shifts lazily around her in slow motion circles, her loosely curly long brown-blond hair falls over her shoulder and into her face. Making a low noise she fumbles to push it out of her eyes when she cannot quite manage, her fingers slow and clumsy from the drugs. Hand dropping limply back into her lap she sighs softly, slumping sideways in her chair as she barely manages to stay upright.
She’s a small teenager, fourteen and just barely five foot one without shoes on. Her flat converse tennis shoes don’t add much height either. Black knee length dress wadded up between her knees from her funny position in her chair the pale teenager’s bright blue tights show, which matches her powder blue tennis shoes, and expose the tops of her powder pink leg braces. Chocolate brown eyes unfocused and hazy with the power of the sedative, she peers half-heartedly around the expansive room. What a nice place, and even in her drugged state she marvels at how much everything in this room must cost… Licking her lips slowly to wet them, she peers through the curtain of her hair, the crutches sitting next to slide down the wall and hit the floor with a clatter. Flinching and huddling down in her chair slightly she blinks, looking around so fast it makes her head spin and the room tilt.

Starting to feel a bit better, if not still kind of doped up, she sits back in her chair. The world is less spiny than it was before, and she begins to really look around for the first time. Far down the hallway she sees another girl approaching, and unable to resist, sticks her head out to look at her, leaning almost out of the chair they’ve plopped her down in. “Hmmmm. Looks like there’s actually people here after all.” Mumbling quietly to herself, she leans down in the chair to pick up her fallen forearm crutches, the tall chair with arms making it hard for her to reach them. Her fingers just barely manage to brush the top of one of them, but not enough to grab it. “Poop.” Frowning and thinking rather unkind thoughts about being given crutches when she’s all doped up and not put in her wheelchair, she frowns and gives up the vain effort to pick up the pink walking sticks from the floor.
