Personality

Ignacio is used to having to be the adult in most situations. He is extremely responsible, sometimes annoyingly so. He is a bit out of his element now that he's on the ship because he is no longer expected to be the adult. They have real adults hanging around now. Because of that, he's being forced to find a new way to be. He's been thrown out of his element, but he isn't sure he dislikes it.

History

Ignacio is from a kind of run down section of New York, where he lived with his mother, and every few months with his father. To him, the man his mom called his dad was actually just some guy who showed up every few months with a bunch of cash, lay around on the couch, asked him nosy questions, yelled at his mom and left with most of the cash he had come with. Ignacio was annoyed by his visits, but ultimately, they didn't impact him so much.

Until a summer night on Ignacio's ninth birthday, when his dad showed up with a six-year-old girl in tow, dragged his mom in the kitchen where they shouted at each other for a few hours until he stalked out again, leaving the girl behind. From that day forward, Ignacio had a sister. His dad didn't come around so much after that. Isabel was skinny, short, with a couple of scars across her face that made her look like one of those porelain dolls they had in department stores that someone had smashed and tried to glue back together. Ignacio learned quickly that if he wanted to keep his new little sister, he would have to take care of her himself. His mom was too busy. So he got in the habit of watching over her like a hawk, protecting her from the kids who picked on her, cooking her meals (she was kind of incompetent with that...), staying on her about her homework, everything.

And when Isabel got the crazy idea in her head to accept the invitation into space, what else was he supposed to do...?
