Erika yawned, crossing her arms and leaning back against the post. To her left a path lead towards the docks and to her right, the tavern. The night before, after saying her goodbyes to the last of her crew, she had spoken with an old friend who ran the tavern. They had planned to meet up, then make their way over to a small group where she would be able to find a new crew. Now, she simply waited for her friend to arrive. Glancing around, she sighed. Late like always

"Erika!" Inaga called, waving over to the young captain. "Are you ready?"

"You're late."

"Tsk, you're cold," Inaga grinned, leading her towards a small cluster of tents. "They're right over here. Not many to start with, but it's a start."

Audrey gasped for air, still squeezing her eyes, even though she just woke up. She pulled back her soaked hair.

"What the..." she mumbled in shivering voice.
"Wakey wakey, my apprentice!" a middle-aged, well-dressed man holding an empty wet bucket yelled cheerfully.
Audrey was about to ask a question when she let out a grunt once a suitcase was thrown at her lap. Two smaller ones landed near her bed.
"We're moving, Audrey!" the man announced. "Come on! Get up! Don't look at me like you're trying to solve a math problem! Just when I thought you finally stopped doing this after all those years! Change your clothes first. You're all wet! And you can't go out on a new adventure dressed with this horrible nightgown!" he said and went out of the room.

Soon after, Audrey entered an empty room.
"What... happened to the shop?" she asked in disbelief.
"Don't you even listen? We're moving!" the man grabbed her shoulders.
"But... Where are the weapons?"
"They're not here!"

A moment of silence filled the room.
"Have we bankr..." Audrey started, before the man's large, ring covered hand silenced her mouth.
"We're just in a hard period, my apprentice! The store here is no more, but we'll find something!" he said, released her mouth and wrapped his arm around the shoulder, while moving his other one like he's pointing the environment. "Great future awaits us! Our nights will be spent on the steets, but we'll have plenty of options! We can become slaves, then rob our owners and run away! We can become performers! We can try our a profession every single day! We can rob another shop! What do you say?"

"I... I can't do this..." Audrey mumbled.
"What?" her boss raised a brow.
"I-I'm sorry." the girl simply said and released herself from his grip. "I c-can't." she walked out of the empty shop.
The man opened the door after her.
"So you're leaving me? You ungrateful brat! Who kept you under his wing in the last five years? Me!"

Those words caused Audrey to stop walking for a second and sight.
"Goodbye." she spoke without turning and continued walking.

"Ugh..." the girl covered her face with both of her hands.
"Alright, let's just find a home and a job..." she thought to herself. "My experience is with weapons... and... selling... that's all."

Gibbs quickly ran through the crowed docks in an attempt to get away from three of his former crew members. Earlier that day he had slipped away while the crew was at the local tavern and signed up with a new crew. He know after the last voyage he had to get away from them, and since he was no good on land, he found the first ship looking for a crew and sighed without reading about it. Making his way back towards the tavern, he found the opening was looking for, a cart full of cargo crates bound for one of the ships farther down the docks. Hopping on and hiding behind the crates, the crew ran past him and into the tavern. Gibbs jumped out grabbing an old cloak from the cart and hurries towards the tents were he is suppose to met the captain. Keeping his head down trying to blend in as much as possible, he always plows through a girl whose face is covered by both her hands. "Oh sorry miss." He said in a low but sincere voice. Looking behind him and seeing the three men who were chasing him, he quickly but gently put an arm around the girl. With her under arm and covered by his cloak he whispers to her, "Look miss, ye going through something, today is not my day either. But I ain't gonna hurt ya, I just need to hide from some people till I can get to my new ship. I just signed on since they are looking for more crew and... well...my old crew wants me dead. You can come with if you want, to get away from what ever your goin through." He gave her a genuine smile as he gestured in the direction of the tens. Gibbs hated being late to anything but he as couldn't just leave a lady in distress, not to add that he was running from his entire old crew. Hopefully the new capt'n would understand.

"We're here!" Inaga cheered, waving his arms in the air like it was a magic trick. "What do you think?" The cluster of tents had obviously been hastily built, hardly there to last many nights. Some men lazed around a dead fire pit whilst suggestive noises could be heard from within the tents. They certainly didn't waste time with that.

Erika sighed, tilting her head. "They know each other, what's the story?"

"Ah, well. That's a good question," she glared at him, waiting for an answer as Inaga nervously ran a hand through his hair. "Oh, that ain't my problem! Ask them yourself!"

Audrey jolted once she was used as a hiding place by a complete stranger. It was a good thing he quickly explained his situation. She understood quite a bit in about two sentences.
"Did this man just offer me a job out of nowhere? A job at a ship?" she thought and looked around. She didn't know where the old crew members were, nor how did they look like, or if there were any.

For a second it crossed Audrey's thought that this might be a weird smuggling tactic. Fortunately for her, there was nothing to be smuggled. Then she relized - there was nothing to be smuggled! She left her entire luggage at the shop. Audrey sighed and placed her hand on her forehead.

It also crossed her mind that it might be a strange tactic for kidnapping. Then why wasn't she kidnapped already?
"Apparently I need to learn so much more about the real world," she thought. "Whatever his intentions are, even if there's a trap, or a catch, I'll just submit. Otherwise I might be on the streets for quite a while. I have nothing to lose."

"Lead to the ship you're trying to reach," she finally spoke to the stranger in a rather quiet voice, even by her own standards.

Gibbs lead her to the tents were the cap'n was already looking over her new crew. With a quick look around he takes off his hood while stepping forward, "CAP'N ON DECK!! COME ON YOU LANDLUBBERS, ON YOUR FEET!" When some of the men didn't stand up, he went over to one and kicked the chair out from under him. "I said on your feet." The man stood up only to be met by Gibbs pistol to the underside of his chin. With that an other man stood up to try and help his friend out but was met by a sword to his throat. "Go ahead and try it. Now ye may call me Mr. Mercer. When I say cap'n on deck. You all stand up. Got it." Gibbs lowered his pistol and sword, then turned to the cap'n "Beg'n your pardon for being late cap'n. Mercer and... well the lass is with me." he said as he holstered his pistol and sheathed his sword. Gibbs realized he knew nothing of the lass he brought with him, not even her name. Nor did he know anything of the cap'n, crew or the point of this voyage. Looked over at the girl who without question had followed him and gave her a reassuring smile, before looking back at the cap'n.

Erika sighed softly, looking back towards the group of men. Hardly any had noticed her, and perhaps they hadn't been told who their captain would be. With a shake of her head, she prepared to address the group, that is, until a man arrived out of seemingly nowhere and began getting their attention.

Whoever he was, it was clear he was good leading material. However, he was quickly loosing the crew. Stepping forwards, she placed a hand on his shoulder. "That's all fine, lad," she murmured with a smiled. "Now to the rest of you. I know a female captain ain't your first choice, but I promise I can make rich men of al of you. So, the first order of business, the ship." At this, Erika grinned. "Her name's the Bloody Revenge and you'll find her docked by the harbourmaster."

Audrey's eyes widened once she saw Gibbs' blade against someone else's throat.
"Such a scene gets me every time." she thought. "I hope I didn't make a mistake. Well, I'm taking a risk whatever I do, so..."

A little later the captain of the ship spoke. Despite not hearing of it often, Audrey easily took the fact that she's a female. The thing that concerned her more was...
"How old is she?" Audrey thought.

Then she finally thought about her place on the ship. What would her job be like? A mopper? Someone's mate?
"Wait... I've been working in a weapon shop for five years... Alright... we'll see. Get yourself together. You can handle it."

Gibbs nodded at the cap'n as she placed her hand on his shoulder. After lisening to her speak, which the first part didn't much matter to him, a cap'n is a cap'n is a cap'n, but the next part almost made him smile. "Rich men of al of you." That part stuck in his mind for a while. All of his previse jobs paid... ok at best, most were more done for, love of the sea or duty but to get rich... that had a nice ring to it. After the cap'n finished he spoke up, "Ok any of you who aren't a landloving coward, grab your stuff and get aboard. WE SAIL FOR RICHS!" This also gave him pause, for all his gear was on board a ship full of people who want him dead, and the poor girl he had dragged along had nothing. So he turned to her, "Miss. First off I'm Mr. Mercer. Second seeing as we got no stuff, you got a place with your stuff or ye want me to get you some?" He had no idea when the cap'n would set sail, if this girl had gear or a home or more importantly... ever been to sea. Hopefully she had a place were they both could get stuff, other wise he did have one back up plan but he rather not use as long as he had her in tow.

Erika sighed, nodding to her friend as he departed the scene to return to the tavern. As Gibbs spoke once again, she took a step back, letting the other men leave and gather their things. A few seemed to be rather excited about becoming rich. Which was good. As the others left, she couldn't help but overhear the man speak with the other lady. "Got nothing to bring, hunh?" she asked them, crossing her arms behind her back.

"Well... erm... no." Audrey replied in a low and quiet voice, as her eyes moved quickly left and right.
It was enough of a problem the fact that she forgot everything, or the reason she did it, or the fact her belongings were in a situation where she could forget them. What if it was also a problem in her employment? On the other side, she might get help, along with the man who introduced himself as Mr. Mercer. He seemed to be a street smart person, so perhaps she would leave most of the talking to him. Audry unwittingly looked at the guy, but then she quickly, yet subtly moved her sight elsewhere.
"Come on. Don't make it blatant that you prefer to leave the social work to someone else, whom you even met no more than several minutes ago." the girl thought to herself. "Keep your ears pointed on moments where you have to say something."

"Cap'n... I... um... well... you see..." nerves and a little embarrassed for the first time in a long time in front of a Cap'n. Gibbs sighed, "You see cap'n, me stuff is aboard a ship were I am no longer welcome. Given a moment I could fetch more gear. Of course it pends when ye want to set sail." He could not believe the cap'n heard him, he had hoped to be able to go get gear and be back before any noticed. Now he only hope to not look as big of a fool as he felt in front of his new, YOUNGER cap'n. Giving his... "travel companion" a quick look of "Oh great, I really did it this time.' before looking back at the cap'n. He figured if had to make it quick there was a merchant who had ok gear at a cheap price for the right people near by, but if he had the time... he could go get his backup gear.

Erika couldn't help but snicker at the man's obvious embarrassment. Why he was embarrassed about such a situation she didn't know. "Oh? And what could you have to done to evoke such hate?" She asked him, tilting her head slightly. "As for when we set off. That depends how soon we can get things done. If most didn't know I was captain, then they probably don't know how I sail." She paused then and looked over to Audrey. "So, ma'am, I assume you have no idea what you're getting yourself into?"

"Well... as much as I know, I'm getting a job at a ship." Audry replied. "I-I'll be glad to contribute."
She would be glad to have a job and not sleep on the streets. However, the young captain had a point. What was Audry getting herself into? What should she expect to happen? She considered that she might not be doing a right choice, however once again, it was better than nothing.
"This is where you introduce yourself!" Audrey thought after an awkward pause.
"Audrey Connor at your service." she quickly raised her arm for a handshake. "I have experience with sales and weapon maintaince."

Still very much embarrassed turned to the lady who just introduced herself, "Miss Connor, a pleaser to meet you. If ye need gear, can come with me if ye like. Cap'n once I got gear, I'll get those land lovers whipped into shape in now time." Gibbs respectfully nods to both the ladies before stepping out of the tent and putting his hood up. He quickly flags down a passing carriage, in a very athoratative voice, "Sir, I am leftenant Mercer of his majesty's navy and in the kings name I am commandeering this carriage." The driver, thou a little confused why a leftenant would be dressed like that or why he would need the carriage, not wanting to take any chances climbed off. With a nod to the driver Gibbs opened the door and gestured for the ladies to climb in. "Cap'n and Miss Connor, may I offer you a ride?" Knowing what he said may upset or confuse the cap'n he gave her a quick "you can trust me" wink.

Erika sighed at the girl's response. Sure, she could use a hand on the ship, but the girl obviously didn't know who she is. Though, she wasn't surprised. As Gibbs offered a ride, and a wink, she nodded slightly, and gestured to Audrey to go ahead before climbing in herself. When they set off, she cleared her throat. "Now, before you get yourselves too deep into this, I should let you know what exactly you've gotten yourself into. The Bloody Revenge is a Man-o-war. However, it's quite obvious that we are not a navy crew. In fact, I follow no law but my own. I, am a pirate." She paused then to let it sink in. Obviously Inaga hadn't told the crew. "If you choose to back out, I don't blame you. But rat me out and I will kill you."

"Better than a robbing slave." Audry thought. At that point nothing would scare her away from the new opportunity that landed in front of her on a golden platter. Breaking the laws? How much different would it have been if she stood with the weapon salesman, or went on her own?
"I'd still join." Audry replied.

Gibbs closed the door after the ladies had climbed in and then he climbed to he driver seat. As they set off he listened to the cap'n explan what was going on. "Cap'n, I signed on to your crew and a man does not break his word so easly. Besides, as ye can see I am not good at being a good navy sailor any more. I will say this, I follow you as a cap'n, but I have me limits till ye prove ye self before the mast. Then, then I follow ye any were caus' ye be MY cap'n. I've been sailing since before I could walk. Sailed with many a cap'n. Some I would follow to hell and back, others... well... lets just say I have a whole crew without a cap'n who want me dead. But were to first, take you to the ship cap'n or ye want to come with as we get our gear?" He said smiling the whole time. That's when it hit him, he was still being hunted, so he quickly throw his hood up and hunch forward.

An honest lot, that was good. To keep her place she would have to make friends, so she was up to a good start. "Fair enough," she murmured, yawning. "I'll go along with you both, help out if I can. If you're hunted I can watch your back while you get what you need. Simple," she shrugged.

After driving the ladies around and buying gear for himself and miss Connor, as his way of apologizing for dragging her into his mess, he drove the carriage back to the ship. At the ship he opened the door and helped the ladies down. He then, still unsure of his position on board, ordered a few of the crew to help load the gear. Turning to the cap'n, "Cap'n. Were aboard would ye have us bunk?" Turning to the crew who are helping load their gear he motions for them to follow him, regardless if the cap'n shows him the way or just tells him were to go, he has sailed on enough ships to show the men were to go. Gibbs cant wait to stow his gear and get to work. No were else did he feel more comfortable then the open water.

Erika yawned, rejecting the help she was offered and walking onto her ship. "That can be sorted out amongst yourselves," she muttered. Then, raising her voice, she called out to the crew. "Now, there are a couple things to be sorted before we set sail. First of all, many of you might not know that on a pirate ship, all decisions are made by the crew. This includes who your quartermaster will, the cook, any role. I will allow a day for you all to sort this out before I ask for a vote tomorrow. For the time being, everyone will simply help where they can. I don't want special treatment o be given to anyone, including myself. And until roles are decided, no one is to take control of someone else. Seriously, make enemies on a ship and you will have a hard life."
