Damien

As soon as Kalila stood, Damien followed suit, watching her as she moved forward. When the woman reached to touch Kalila, Damien tried to call out a warning. It was too late and he was about to move forward when he saw that Kalila was okay. The lady was touching Kalila and not hurting her. Why was it that it seemed as if only Damien couldn't touch her?

The lady was speaking to Kalila, trying to calm her as she seemed to start crying. Damien wasn't certain from his angle, but Kalila's shoulders were shaking slightly and the other lady still held her. Damien wanted to move forward, to go see Kalila and make sure she was alright, but he didn't. This moment seemed to hold something important for Kalila and he would not interfere. Damien heard Kalila gasp. He felt himself take a step forward, but restrained himself a moment later.

When the ladies returned, Damien let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding in. When she returned, it took nearly all his will not to scoop her into his arms like he had that morning. Damien smiled at her, his chest aching slightly to see the remnants of her sorrow. Why did she have such a curse that was the gift of a goddess? He'd rather take on the goddesses will than let her continue on with it.

Damien's eyes were still on Kalila when he heard someone speak to him. He used to be a lot more observant and now he nearly jumped when he heard the voice directing words at him. The lady was speaking to him in a gentle voice that he had scarcely ever heard. It was as if she could be his mother the way she spoke. His mother... He shook his head inwardly. Never had one and never needed on with a twin like Sebastian.

Damien nodded at the explanation. Good. That meant the world wasn't laughing at him entirely. His life was just getting progressively weirder. It had at least brought Kalila to him which wasn't a bad thing at all. Through thought. Not weird at all. When she smiled in a way Damien wasn't too sure about, Damien was about to ask what she was doing or about to do when he heard a voice in his head.

His eyes grew wide and he looked between the group. Each one in turn. Kalila had healed him with a kiss, had gone through his memories, and now he just had someone speak through their thoughts to him. That shouldn't be as bothersome as he was reacting, but it was freaky for him. It would be freaky for anyone really. Finally her words made sense to him and Damien ducked his head. He was blushing. He was blushing in front of people over a girl because he had been told she liked him. He gave a smile to the lady before just shaking his head in wonder again.

"Well... I... Um... I think you know what I'm trying to say," Damien says with a nod, hoping she would understand that he meant to say he liked her back without actually saying out loud for Kalila to hear as well. "So... How are... Can you help her more? Since you can like... Talk to her for real?" Damien asks, hoping that this lady might be able to help Kalila more with her training so that she wouldn't have to suffer from the voices.

The shark was silent through the interaction, though keeping an eye on the boy who seemed to be making motions that he didn’t like. If he tried to attack Aja…well, it was easy to say that their meeting would no longer be pleasant. The way Kalila reacted to Aja upon seeing her, didn’t settle with Mako. It made him nervous. Why was she crying? Could it be because she knew of her possible fate? Just thinking about it lit his blood on fire. His lips rolled back over his vicious teeth in a deep frown.

Stop crying, he thought. It was irritating him. Nothing bad was going to happen to the fae. He wasn’t going to let it, so she could stop crying!

Aja managed to get the girl under control, and it was a good thing that she did for frankly, he wouldn’t have been able to take it anymore. He might have yelled at the girl and scared the tears out of her.

Mako, this sweet girl is Kalila. She says ‘Hello.’

The shark simply turned his back to the situation. He had nothing kind to say to the girl destined to kill his woman. He also didn’t have anything nice to say to her apparent boyfriend. He had been there strictly for Aja’s concerns and so he didn’t care who they were.

Why were the gods so cruel? Theodosos often wondered that. In his short time observing the girl, Kalila, she had struck him as a kind, pleasant girl. Yet, he could feel her pain as she slept. He stood outside the door, listening to the conversation. He felt a pang of sympathy for Damien. This was the type of tragic love Lila adored.

What are the gods? What gives them the right to play with us so?

He could definitely sense something magical inside. It was likely he or she could hear his thoughts or at least his feelings so he entered the room.

"The girl may be helped, but the gods' will is immutable. What they desire will be, no matter how hard we fight it. Gift or curse, it matters not."

Aja couldn't help but smile at the young boy as he blushed in response. Young Love, it was truly the sweetest of all love.
"Well... I... Um... I think you know what I'm trying to say," the boy said and Aja nodded. "Indeed I do." She replied as Kalila slipped from around her and over to the boy. It looked as though she felt safer with him. Aja smiled. That would good. Aja knew the feeling as she stole a glance over at Mako, who clearly did not like the situation. She couldn't blame him. What person in their right mind would actively try to find the person that was fated to kill them?

Aja sauntered over and brushed her hand over his shoulder and gave him a soft smile. "Relax, my love." She said with an earnest smile. "Today is not the day." She said and it was also to Kalila too. She was just on edge as he was.

"So... How are... Can you help her more? Since you can like... Talk to her for real? the boy said and Aja looked at Kalila oddly. " I suppose I could." She said and thought back to her vision. She was speaking then. Clearly and eloquently. If she couldn't now, that means it would be a good while before she was to meet her fate. To that Aja had to let of a small barely audible sigh.

"I believe I can. Yes." She answered just before another powerful presence appeared from behind them. "The girl may be helped, but the gods' will is immutable. What they desire will be, no matter how hard we fight it. Gift or curse, it matters not." Aja turned and could sense the aura surrounded him. She cocked her head curiously. "Indeed, however, our will has it's own power." She said, slightly annoyed by the mystery man's words. His words couldn't be true, if they were, she would die, and no doubt, Mako would kill the girl, or at least attempt to. She couldn't let either of those things happen. She was about to speak with she felt a familiar aura. She stiffened as the aura came closer and closer until it was right at the door of the bar. She knew it couldn't be him but it didn't stop her heart from racing.

It calmed though immediately as a woman walked through the door. Aja looked at the woman as she approached the man, seemingly with supplies.

"Who are you two." She asked but her eyes were locked on the woman.

"Alexandrine. You?" said the woman, her accent foreign to Aja's ears. "Aja." She said and Aja decided it was best to ingore the woman and why her presences was so familiar. Maybe she was one of the children she rescued from him?

Damien

Damien watched the exchange and was slightly surprise at the relief that overcame Kalila. What were they talking about? He was so confused, not the first time since he had started interacting with the princess. Should he call her princess? The thought finally crossed his mind. He didn't think so and he didn't think Kalila would like it anyway.

Damien smiled as he looked at Kalila, reassured that she would get the help she needed to control the voices more and help her with the powers since Dorian was gone and all. When Theodosos came in, Damien was pretty surprised for whatever reason. Damien didn't speak as he looked at him. He didn't believe that the gods had incredible power. He thought them to be cowards and in all reality, didn't care about them. They didn't or haven't ever helped him, so why should he care about them?

How hard they fought had nothing to do with anything. Damien just gave up with caring about the gods years ago. Damien looked between Aja and Alexandrine. "They're both part of my crew," Damien explained easily as he looked at the server who had brought food over. It seemed like such an ordinary thing in the current chaos of the day.

"Ah, so, are you going to be staying with us then?" Damien asked curiously, wondering if he would have yet another guest on his ship. He didn't know if he should invite the larger man though as he didn't seem to keen to be around Damien. Damien looked around. He didn't quite know what do to and didn't really want to just leave. He needed to keep Kalila with him, near him so that he wouldn't loose her or allow someone to hurt her, on purpose or on accident. He would have put his arm around her to comfort her after such a situation, but he couldn't very well do that without having her collapse on the ground.

"My name's Theodosos. Some call me the Cursed," he told Aja with an ironic smile. It looked like the situation had calmed down. This was good. Despite his gloomy talk, he hoped Kalila's fate would be happier than his. He glanced out the window at the moon and nodded absentmindedly.

"It's getting late. Who would like to join me for a drink before we turn in?"

Dorian overlooked the wreckage in front of him. He and Jarrak had found their targets only to find that it was an ambush. Sure they had killed them all, but one guy threw a grenado near a pile of barrels filled with munitions. The although the explosions hit neither one of them, a rock hit Jarrack in the head, knocking the man unconscious.

"It is not your fault, you know this don't you?" A familiar voice said. Dorian looked to his side to see an amber haired woman with snow skin. His eyebrows furrowed. "What are you doing here? Come to plague me again?" He said with a sneer. The woman smirked. "I am just checking up on you, that's all. You liked me when you were younger, when you still had your complexion." She rested her hand on his shoulder and his skin returned along with his hair. "I need you to remember that you are still me champion and I am still on your side. Remember my words." With that she was gone along with the illusion of his past self that she had brought.

Dorian went to pick up Jarrak with an annoyed look on his face. Even halfway around the world and she was still following him, a constant reminder of his past. An hour later he arrived at the ship and dropped Jarrak off in his room. He would have to tend to the man later, but for the time it could wait. First he wanted to get drunk...very drunk.

He walked into one of the many bars and turned to the bartender immediately. "A Fuarian Blitz." He said as he then watched the bartender pour the vodka, mead, cocaine, and gunpowder into the glass. A drink that had both an offensive yet ironic history and a toxic high. I was a drink that was popular during reconstruction, but otherwise avoided. He took a few swigs of the black liquid before turning his head to see his pupil with a large group of people. He didn't even knew that she drank.

"So what do we have here. My pupil, captain, and an acquaintance all in the same room." Dorian said as he took up a seat near them. He stared at the woman for a bit. She looked odd, friendly too, even with Mako in the same room. Which meant she was either a skilled fighter, unlikely, a magi, possible, or not completely human herself. The bandaged man set his iron bullets on the table to begin loading his pistols. After finishing with that he took out his kukri which was also iron and began to sharpen that, directing the shavings in her direction. That iron would tell him if she was human or not. He was a superstitious man and protective over his students so he had to make sure. He glanced at Kalila to speak to hear telepathically. "Have you ever heard of the land of Anansai?" He asked her.

Kalila was listening idly as Aja spoke, saying she would in fact be joining them if they would have her, but Mako was to come along; when her master entered the bar. She stood completely straight at the sight of him. Jarrak, wasn't with him, which worried her but she was still very happy to see him. She watched him order a toxic looking drink that made her chest ache. Kalila was far form a drinker and that would most likely seen her into a fit. "So what do we have here. My pupil, captain, and an acquaintance all in the same room." Kalila smiled all the same but it faded as he eyed Aja. Aja watched him carefully as well. He then pulled a weapon as if merely polishing it and then began sharpening his blade. Aja coughed, she seemed to try to hide it at first but it seemed to become too much as she shot from her seat and pushed away from the table, coughing horribly. Kalila watched her, worried, only to be distracted by Master Dorian's words in her mind.
"Have you ever heard of the land of Anansai?"

"Aye, My mother is friends with the Fae Queen, she used to sing me songs from Anansai. Why, Master; and where is Jarrak, why's he not with you?" She asked him all at once, worried for the Fae woman.

Alexandrine listened on, not being much of a talker or a people person, she was glad to when Theo offered drinks. " Let's go then." She said and rose from her seat and moving toward the bar, when the bandaged man arrived, and seemed to be purposely flicking iron shavings at the fae. Alexandrine rolled her eyes.
He could have just asked....

(sorry so short)

Damien & Sebastian

Damien looked down and away. His ship was big sure, but having a giant house sized man, a wizard thingy guy, a fae, a godling, a cursed, a haunted, and his brother as well as himself was getting a little packed. When Dorian started to send shavings at Aja, Damien interrupted but not fast enough. Then there was that look that told Damien Dorian was talking to Kalila and it nearly drove him insane all over again.

Damien grumbled something under his breath along the lines of frustrating and mind reading though he didn't think it was loud enough for anyone but Alexandrine and Theo. "So, don't know if you heard, but my crew is heading out tomorrow morning to, work. If any of you don't want to join us you don't have to but you can't stop us because that is after all how we make our living. Theo, Alexandrine, you remember the rules of raiding don't you? Did I explain those?" Damien asked, not aware of it or not.

Damien looked at his food, he took a small bite, hungry but not wanting to show it. He was thinking about sleeping arrangements when he heard the front door open. Sebastian entered, his hair still wet. "Great, Sebastian, you figure out sleeping arrangements. These two will be staying with us, I'm going to get some fresh air, with this food,"Damien says as he grabs his food and goes outside into the nearby alley to eat. He chewed slowly, trying to savor the food. He was always hungry but he absolutely hated giant crowds that were all really really close and he didn't know them. He could handle the busy crowds in the streets, but when everyone was directing their attention on him or those he was with, he had to leave. Sebastian was in there so Kalila would be alright. He hoped. He felt bad for leaving her but he absolutely needed to get out before he couldn't quite handle it anymore and stormed out.

Theo grinned at Alexandrine. To tell the truth, he found himself enjoying her company. He appreciated the fact that she did not prod him with too many questions, but was willing to give him the pleasure of her company. He walked with her to the bar and ordered a mug of spiced rum before he heard Damien speak up.

"So, don't know if you heard, but my crew is heading out tomorrow morning to, work. If any of you don't want to join us you don't have to but you can't stop us because that is after all how we make our living. Theo, Alexandrine, you remember the rules of raiding don't you? Did I explain those?"

Theo shrugged, "I've been on enough pirate vessels to know the basic rules. The loot isn't divided up until after the raiding. Captains have their own rules on sparing people and taking slaves or hostages. I'm sure you will inform us of those in due time. And the Captain is to be obeyed without question during the battle. Did I cover it all?"

Alexandrine merely arched an eyebrow at the Captian's question and deemed it too stupid to be answered and classified it rhetorical. Alexandrine was a solider, following orders and remembering them was not a problem. The question was almost insulting.

Theo then spoke to the Captian's question and Alexandrine just listened. "I've been on enough pirate vessels to know the basic rules. The loot isn't divided up until after the raiding. Captains have their own rules on sparing people and taking slaves or hostages. I'm sure you will inform us of those in due time. And the Captain is to be obeyed without question during the battle. Did I cover it all?"

He said and Alexandrine took a sip of her grog. Her mind wandered back to the Fae woman; Aja. Who seemed to be trying not to choke on the shavings. She wondered why she looked at her the way she did as she entered the room. Alexandrine was keenly aware of her curse at the moment, and it almost seemed as if Aja knew, or at least felt it too. She wanted to ask her about it but her attention seemed to be solely on the girl, which was good.

This raid could be problematic. She couldn't get angry, not even slightly, or the entire crew would be in danger.

"We know what to do, just don't get in my way." She said calmly, ringing her cup with a finger.

Aja was beginning to feel sick as the bandanged man continue sharpening his blade, the iron flakes were invading her lungs, burning them from the inside, like inhaling smoke.

"Please, do you have to sharpen your blade at the table, M'on emie?" She asked, her voice not as smooth as usual.

This all seemed intentional. " If you wanted to know if I am Fae or not, all you had to do was ask." She said, with a horse cough.
Kalila looked from her to the bandaged man and she grabbed his hand forcefully, her brow furrowed as if to say. "Stop"

Dorian stopped sharpening his blade and put it away. It was bothering her that he was being so cruel during introductions. First impressions stick after all and his would certainly stick. "No. I want know what you are. Telling me that you're just a fae would be as useless as me asking a pirate who they are with an answer like 'human'. Everybody on this island is either a criminal, exile, fugitive, or a murderer, or all of those. I want to know if you're one of those unseelied that I've heard about. There's still some out there, I know, I've killed some." He told her with stern eyes.

He didn't like fae outside of Anansai. It screamed of dangerous suspicion. Perhaps it was just tribal superstition or religious banter on the subject that made him feel such paranoia, but on an island like that of Nassau, paranoia was a nice thing to have.

" I am a solitary Fae, I belong to no court, especially not the Anansi-forsaken UnSeelie." She hissed. "Again, All of this you could have just asked. If you know so much about Fae, you would have known that we can not lie, and all you needed to do was ask the simple question." She said bitterly as she decided he was going to be an issue. She knew the girl was important, and he was important to the girl, so she decided to stay her hand, despite how she wanted to drag it across his cheek for such impudence.

Sebastian

Sebastian watched the scene play out. Even with Damien interrupting before fleeing the stressful situation, nobody payed attention. "Stop this, you will both be staying on my ship and we don't even tolerate such behavior between our men. Dorian, it's rude to call people here those things even if they are true, and Aja, step outside with Damien if you need to. There's simple answers. We can all talk later tonight when we all have dinner together, in a friendly way. Otherwise, I will have to ask those who won't comply to stay on land," Sebastian says with a final tone. He rarely went into a mode where he was only a captain, but situations like these were those times.

Sebastian faced Theo and Alexandrine. "We have more specific rules about raids than what you mentioned when I showed up, ask Kato when you see him or just ask me at dinner, but there is specific rules about who you raid and who you can or should injure," Sebastian says, not saying kill as he didn't like the word. Dorian had called people on Nassau murderers, exiled, criminal, and fugitives, it was all true. He didn't like it, didn't have to, but it was true.

Sebastian took a deep breath, "Just, don't kill each other. Kalila, when you're ready, I think Damien is still wanting to take you shopping," Sebastian says, leaving the tavern. He hadn't realized it had gone nearly silent at his outburst. Didn't really care though. Sebastian walked to where he knew Damien would be, his brother's food already set aside.

"They being demons to each other?" Damien asks. Sebastian nods, "Yep," Damien nods slightly as Sebastian sits next to him. Sebastian bumps his brother. Damien doesn't respond. Sebastian does it again and it makes Damien crack a smile. "What?" Damien asks. Sebastian looks at him as if he should know. "You and Kalila?" Sebastian asks and Damien looks down. "Are you blushing?" Sebastian demands and bumps into his brother again who pushes him back. "I don't know... She says she wants me to go to sleep with her tonight," Damien explains. Sebastian stares at him, openly gawking. "What?" He whispers. Damien realizes what it sounded like and shook his head rapidly. "I meant that she was going to talk to me through the dreams when I went to sleep near her I guess," Damien explained with a nod. Sebastian nodded, understanding. The two sat there, heads against the wall, eyes closed. The only difference was that they were dressed different;y. "I was about to say, how did you get that far so fast," Sebastian says easily. Damien elbows him again and the two laugh before resuming the peaceful position that relaxed them.

Theo listened to the conversatin between the UnSeelie and the bandaged man. There was definitely tension there. He was not surprised. He had rarely ran into a fae who held no allegiance to a "court" of UnSeelie. Thus, it was inevitable that solitary fae would gain a reputation as outlaws given that the most unsavory of their kind often had no choice but to flee their home court. To tell the truth, he was not particularly wary of them anymore than he was of any other powerful magic user. He was an exile too.

"We have more specific rules about raids than what you mentioned when I showed up, ask Kato when you see him or just ask me at dinner, but there is specific rules about who you raid and who you can or should injure," Sebastian said. Theo grinned at him.

"I suspected as much. Your reputation precedes you, after all and it is rare that I sail under a captain without honor, however miniscule that honor may be. It seems the rumors about you two are correct. It is not often I run into a pirate captain without some nefarious designs on someone such as that goddess-touched girl, Kalila."

Theo continued to drink beside Alexandrine. He grinned at her, "It is a rare crew we've joined. A blushing pirate? Remarkable."

She wondered idly if Damien had that sort of power, he was captain, but was he the leader his brother was.
She shook the thought away, she knew that would be a question her father would ask her...if he didn't try to bludgeon Damien to death.

Aja hissed and turning away. " I am here for the girl, just as it seems we all are." She said looking around the montely crew before her. Kalila blushed then, feeling the weight of her birthright on her shoulders now. It made her a little ansty, so she covered her arms with her hands, to hid the chills. Her eyes fell on to the woman and the man at the bar, new to the crew apparently. They both were cursed, whether each of them knew it about the other or not. Kalila knew nothing about the man but she'd seen the woman in her visions before. She had a great rage in her, all because of that man, that creature that caused the great unbalance in the world, the unbalance that forced Kalila out of the safety of her home in Jeddah and into the land of the thieves.

" Kalila, when you're ready, I think Damien is still wanting to take you shopping,"

To that, Kalila smiled, rose from her seat and left without a single thought to Dorian. She wanted to go shopping, she'd heard girls in the palace talking about it, and she thought it would be fun. She was never able to just walk about the town in Jeddah, it was dangerous for others. She made her way to Damien, seeing him speaking with Sebastian, she didn't hear any of the conversation as she walked up. She waved awkwardly before sitting beside him and scribbling on her writing pad.
"I'm ready to go shopping, with you"

"We have more specific rules about raids than what you mentioned when I showed up, ask Kato when you see him or just ask me at dinner, but there is specific rules about who you raid and who you can or should injure," Sebastian had said and to that Alexandrine had to snicker. Injure? What kind of pirates were these?
Perhaps he had something to do with the presence of the girl, she certainly hoped that was it, or else, they'd be in for a rude awakening when it came time for a raid.

"I suspected as much. Your reputation precedes you, after all and it is rare that I sail under a captain without honor, however minuscule that honor may be. It seems the rumors about you two are correct. It is not often I run into a pirate captain without some nefarious designs on someone such as that goddess-touched girl, Kalila."

Theo had commented and Alexandrine looked at the girl. She knew she was 'touched' as Theo had put it but she hadn't considered how much of a handicap she could be, sure she could protect herself but what if she fell into a spell like before, during the raid? That would be bad. "It is a rare crew we've joined. A blushing pirate? Remarkable."

That was the other thing, The girl may be innocent-minded enough to miss Damien clear interest in her but the adults were not. That could be a problem too, this was very risky, atleast for her. What if they do find Bluebeard..with the girl, the love struck co captain, a shark man, a fae and whatever the hell Dorian was and two cursed.

"Rare indeed."

It was strange how the bandage man joined them as though everyone and everything were drawn to them in the tavern. When the man began sharpening his kukri, he turned his attention back to the rest of the group not noticing at first the discomfort the man’s habits brought to his woman. Aja began coughing and when she fled from the table in a fit, the shark followed her out of concern.

“Are ye o’ll right, love?” he questioned.

Hopefully, she hadn’t contracted a plague.

Please, do you have to sharpen your blade at the table, m’on emie?

Mako turned toward the one Aja was talking to. Dorian; why was she mad at him? He eyed how he seemed to be not just sharpening his weapon but purposefully flicking fragments at the fae. With a growl, the giant stepped in the path of the flakes and Kalila had already stopped the man before Mako felt he’d have to—friend or not.

The Mercos didn’t quite understand the argument between Aja and Dorian, but when he kept hearing the others mention “leaving the island,” he couldn’t help but feel worried about her. She said she was cursed to stay.

“Yer joinin’ their crew?” he asked. “Are ye sure ‘bout this?”

The shark crouched before the fae and took her hand in his.

“Ye won’t die?”
