Description

Marcus Bolo
Image
Age: 35

Appearance: Tall, Dark skinned and impeccably dressed in a suit vest and bandolier, with assorted pistols and weapons holstered. His head is shaven bald and has an intense, brooding stare.

Build: Tall and Muscular

Personality: Marcus is quiet, brooding, menacing, and not particularly friendly or likable. He is however, highly loyal to his Lady and methodical and structural in his actions. He is the voice of calm reason to the lady Harlingtons often flamboyant and extravagant ideas and actions.

Where they live: Lives on Nassau, as manservant to the Lady Elizabeth Benezia Harlington, in her estate.

What/who they are: He serves faithfully as Lady Haringtons bodyguard, manservant and advisor, alongside Nassara.

History: Marcus started life as the son of a manservant to a wealthy tripartian merchant family. He was instructed from a young age in the workings and management of a household, and how to properly conduct himself as a butler. He was groomed by his father to replace him when he died, but alas that time came too soon. When MArcus was eleven, a rival merchant house hired thugs, who burned the estate to the ground, his father and many others still inside. He left the family and drifted for years before joining the military. He enjoyed the regimental and structured lifestyle and did well for himself up until the war. During the struggle he witnessed his fellow soldiers turn to beasts as they raped and pillaged through enemy villages and even friendly ones. He deserted and travelled to Galapagos, where he was working as a barman when he met the Lady Harlington. She saw something in the man and convinced him to come work for her in her estate as her manservant. He has served her loyally ever since.

Skills: He is a keen marksman and axeman, preferring his hatchet over a sword or cutlass. He has also maintained his butlering talents and keeps the ladies house in order, as well as brewing the best tea on Nassau.

So begins...

Sebastian

Sebastian was on the boardwalk, taking off at a run when he was knocked aside by something. He tumbled over the side, crashing into the black water and sputtering. He swam towards the nearby dock to grab a rope hanging down, pulling himself up. He was having a bad day. He had been threatened, had a gun at his head, nearly lost his brother twice, and was now soaking wet after being told he'd die if he didn't let someone steal away Kalila... It was a weird day too when he thought about it.

Shaking his head, Sebastian climbed out and was nearly pushed back in by Jarrak as the man rushed by. He was going to look for Kalila, in a city of thieves and drunks that he knew nothing about. He was also probably going to die by morning at that rate.

Sebastian followed Jarrak, staying far back enough that the man couldn't see him or detect he was following. He was behind him when he heard a faint distress. He looked down an alley to find men laying, dead and or bleeding. Sebastian shakes his head. Great, the city had another guy who thought he couldn't get beaten and can kill who he wanted to.

Sebastian noticed a line of blood leading away and abandoned following Jarrak to follow the blood trail. As he followed it, he saw it growing thinner and thinner, as if the bleeder was healed quickly, like Kalila had done to Damien. He saw it lead to the general direction of an inn and entered.

"Excuse me, would you by chance have seen a girl about my age?" Sebastian asks as he leans on the counter, not caring about his soaked form.

"Looking for your girlfriend are ya?" He asks with a smirk. Sebastian rolls his eyes and shakes his head. "The day I get a girlfriend will be the day my brother gets manners, never," Sebastian says before looking the man in the eye, "Now, did you or did you not see a girl my age come here?"

The man catches Sebastian's dangerous tone and nods, pointing upstairs. "Up there," He says softly and Sebastian nods, slipping the man a silver coin.

He climbs the stairs only to see light coming from a doorway that appeared to not have it's door closed. Sebastian smiled and walked up next to it, hearing talking, he listened in, wondering if he would hear Kalila. He didn't and is surprised him, but he did hear other voices that interested him and made him listen in.

"She is young. Younger than any of my own children. But she isn't year for pleasure. She has valuable information that I need. Information that I have scoured the globe for. I just killed four men and took a bullet for her so I'm not going to leave this room until I get my dues," One voice said. Sebastian nearly sighed in relief, at least they wouldn't touch her and get him in trouble with Jarrak. He had to not touch her either after everything she said, or wrote.

One voice, the same voice, offered wine to someone. Possibly Kalila? He didn't bother looking or trying, just waiting to see if she would answer.

Neviah

Neviah watched as a man claiming to be a demon hunter asked to do business. He didn't say the lady's name and Neviah still wasn't sure what it was. She looked down at the ground as the lady said a storm was coming. That was bad. If Neviah was outside, she would surely be given away. She didn't have anywhere else to go but inside this lady's house.

When the door was open, Neviah waited patiently for the lady to exit first. She didn't want to seem impolite or rude or make it sound like she didn't like, wanted to hurt, or wanted to be mean to this lady, that might mean knives from her friend again.

She looked up at the estate, then down at her raggedy look. She was dressed nicely and the dress wasn't too dirty, worse than the lady's but not too bad. She could feel grime on her face however and it wasn't something she liked.

As she looked up at the man who wanted to do business, she noticed he was rather nice looking. The lady would probably take an interest in him. He looked a good bit older than Neviah herself so it surprised her that he could be a demon hunter, not because of his age, but because of his experience. He wasn't old, but he wasn't young. Didn't you need to be older.

She hoped that he didn't take her as a demon if he knew she was a mermaid. Some mermaids acted demonic and were treated such though she wasn't in any way. She just changed in her legs. That was all, nothing major. He probably wouldn't think anything of it other than she isn't normal.

Theo watched the people around them for an hour. At last, he turned to Alexandrine and spoke, "There is a pair of captains who are decent as far as pirates go. What do you know of Captain Damien and Captain Sebastian?"

Alexandrine looked over at him. "No, not farmilar, but I rarely run wit' a crew," She said. "Jump from ship to ship, if only to get closer to where I need to be." She said. "Who are dz'ey?"

"They have a reputation for being... odd. From what I heard, they're quite good chaps, unusual for a couple of pirate captains. For one thing, they aren't looking to screw each other over. If there is anyone we can expect a decent deal from, it'd be them," Theo told the girl with a small grin as he took a sip out of his mug.

"Also, I hear they are quite chivalrous without looking to get some booty. Either kind," he added with a laugh at his own joke.

Alexadrine cut her eyes at him for his joke. "Clever." She said and drank the last of her grog.

"You wouldn't happened to know where these two are, would you?" She asked, adjusting her hood. "It's getting late, they're probably down for the night,"

"You haven't been to this port for long, have you?" he asked with a grin as he finished the rest of his drink, "It's easy to find someone here if you know how to look."

Alexandrine merely shrugged. "Well dz'en, we'd better start looking." She said and stood up from her seat, "Where do we start?" She said after placing down payment for her drinks.

"We goto the streets and ask around for a pair of brothers in the company of maidens far above them," he told her with a grin as he motioned her to follow him out onto the streets, "If the rumors are true, one of them is a romantic."

Alexandrine shook her head. "Terrific." She said with a huff and walked along with him. "Just what we need" She said rolled her shoulders. "Let's start at the docks."

"Oh, don't think like that," he teased as he headed for the door. He raised an eyebrow as he practically ran into his quarry. He frowned slightly. This was too easy. Were the gods playing tricks on him. Nonetheless, he smiled at the group before him.

"Captain Damien? Or is it Sebastian?"

Adir heard the answer he needed to. Lady Harlington reasoned it was too late for business for the night, yet if he stayed, they could broker a deal in the morning. "Of, course, Lady Harlington."

Inside the estate, he waited until given permission to take off and polish the armor he had over his attire. He and his equipment went through many battles against demons. Speaking of which, he noticed there was something odd about one of the other women. He first noticed that there was a shift in her legs. Could she have been a mermaid? It did not matter to him. Unless he actually saw a merperson cause harm, he would not strike one. Actual demons, on the other hand, he would.

Of course, he stuck with the group before given their temporary quarters. It has been a busy day, and he had to admit, he could use the rest. That is, of course, if everyone would let him. The thing about demon slayers is, they never knew when a demon could conduct a surprise attack in retaliation.

Nassaras silent footsteps glided over the heavy carpeted floor of the manor, her robes flowing around her like jet silk, the breakfast laden tray she carried with her not making a sound as she noiselessly entered her mistresses chambers. The room was dark, heavy drapes on the windows obscuring the fact that the sun had been up for hours already. Nassara expertly navigated her way through the gloom to the small table at her ladies bedside, placing the tray delicately on its top before moving to the large, covered windows. The drapes were pulled aside and golden morning sunlight beamed in through the gap, the room growing brighter as Nassara tied them back with heavy cloth rope and moved on to the next window. The storm had blow over in the night and left nothing but the smell of rain and a fine mist of evaporating water in the morning light. Soon the room was bursting with glorious morning sunshine but her mistress's bed was still cloaked in shadows. The only barely translucent veils hanging from her four poster bed hid all but the vague outline of someone already sitting up in bed. Nassara finished her work and proceeded to the door when a soft voice from the bed stopped her.
"Nassara." Lady Elizabeth said, hidden from view in the veils of her bed, the voice disturbingly deadpan and toneless, somehow even more terrifying than her usual melodramatic extravagance. "See to it our guests are both served breakfast in their quarters. Especially the girl. I don't want Marcus to scare her. Tell him to have my regular morning tea ready in an hour and that I want a sample of all of them present for our young demon hunter to decide on," There was a slight pause as if she thought to say something else, but decided against it, "That is all, off you go."
Nassara nodded even though she was still unsure if her Lady could see her, though she had an odd feeling that Elizabeth could always tell exactly where she was. She turned and walked out of the room

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The kitchen had anticipated the guests presence and cooked appropriately, Nassara had collected their meals almost immediately and took them to the floor where the two guests were staying. She didn't like the man, he seemed far too proud of himself, so sure that he was in control of the situation and could do as he pleased, it was a trait held by pirates, and she wasn't convinced he wasnt one. She put his tray down out the front of his door and rapped on it smartling before proceeding down the corridor. She had left a note on his tray indicating when her mistress wished to see him on the balcony, and left the means of finding the balcony up to him. She arrived at the women's, no, the girls door, and knocked on it softly, before quietly opening the door and heading inside.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Morning came and Jarrak was cold, wet, tired and fruitless in his search for Kalila. He was also very, very angry. The bars had closed but the stores were only just starting to open and the smell of freshly baked bread and fish caught in the night being hauled in for sale was heavy in the morning air. it suddenly became very apparent he had not eaten since midday the day before, and he quickly bought some bread and dried fish and continued down the road. As he tore into his makeshift breakfast, he hoped that such a depressing meal would not be his last. To say that Kalilas father would be angry with him was like calling a hurricane a gentle breeze. Ever since he had entered the Misantries service Queen Clara had always kept him safe from the worst of her husbands terrible, and often unpredictable, fury, but something told him that if he lost Kalila, the Queen would be less than forgiving. He slowly made his way back to the Lucifers Angel dreading the idea that she had not returned in the night. He could run away, maybe, disappear, become a pirate like the Queens Aunt, Robyn Sheva. But he knew it would never last. Da'Karro Misantri would hunt him to the end of the earth, defy death and time itself to kill Jarrak. The man was a loving father and husband, but little few saw the terrible insanity that lurked behind his cold grey eyes, the reason he was once known as the Beast of the Harbinger. If he had lost Kalila then his life was over. He could only hope she was back at the ship.

Neviah

Neviah had been taken to a nice bedroom that had the bed concealed behind curtains. She had wandered the room for a while before just slipping into bed, exhaustion taking over. She had slept a dreamless sleep though it had been restless and she kept waking up at every noise in the night.

When the girl with the scarves came in with food, Neviah had been sitting up to get out of bed, but paused. She watched the girl in scarves, her eyes questioning. "What's your name?" Neviah asked, wanting to at least learn some of the names around the place. She knew lady harlington's just because of her introduction, but Neviah couldn't recall hearing this girl, or lady's name.

She was suddenly aware of how dirty she was. She had done nothing more last night than climb into bed, wanting to end the day faster than it had come. She felt wrong in the clean bed when she herself was not and probably made the entire thing dirty. Neviah watched the girl, maybe she could show Neviah where she could bathe or get cleaned up. That would be nice at the very least.

Sebastian

Sebastian had dozed off on his barrel leaning against the wall instead of on a sleeping mat. He didn't wake up first, why should he? He had a crew that could wake up and do what they needed to when they needed to so that he didn't have to.

Kato was just beginning to get things for breakfast ready when he spotted Jarrak. "Hey, where were you last night? Sent the captains on a chase looking for the charge you lost," Kato asks rather confused as to why his captains even bothered helping this man out when he was so rude to them. It wouldn't surprise Kato one bit if Jarrak came up and knocked Sebastian into the water just for the sake of irritating the young captain.

When Jarrak's response came, Kato shrugged and pointed at Sebastian who was still dozing. "Go see Sebastian, but don't wake him if you want to be keeping him from getting angry," Kato says. He continued with making the meal for the crew while everyone else continued their morning tasks. Even the youngest was mopping up the deck, rather happy Sebastian had slept on a barrel so he wouldn't have to wait for the captain to wake up to finish the job, he could do it all at once.

Sebastian had told everyone else to let the new people sleep since they were off to the side and wouldn't be in anyone's way, that is, if they wanted to sleep in. He really didn't care at this point and was content sleeping in the awkward position he was in.
