Theodosos the Cursed

"I am Fortune's chewtoy."

0 · 576 views · located in Nassau

a character in “Pirates: By Blood or By Gold”, as played by almostinsane

Description

Image
Name: Theodosius the Cursed

Age: 25

Appearance: Theodosos is what one might call "dark and handsome". His bronzed skin and black hair marks him as a native of Ithaca, the second largest city in the Drake Kingdom. He wears his hair long and possesses a long scar along his chest.

Build: Slim and muscular

Personality: When one first meets Theodosos, or "Theo" as he likes to be called, one is struck by his light-hearted and humorous personality. Quick with a quip and not one to let even the most dire situations paralyze him into submission, Theo doesn't seem to have a care in the world. However, once one looks at him further, one realizes he is a deeply depressed individual. ImageHis laughs at times have a distinctly unhumorous quality about him and his jokes and comments can be surprisingly dark. Theo is quick to drink and quick to jump into bed with random women, but this doesn't seem to make him truly happy. Still, he retains a semblance of the man he once was. The question is whether he can regain it.

Where they live: Currently traveling in Nassau.

What/ who they are: Pirate/Wanderer; Ex-Priest and Magi

History: Theodosos was born into a well-off family in Ithaca. From an early age, he had been fascinated by the gods of Drake and magic. As he grew older, he showed a talent for magic and Imagetheology and was taken in by the priesthood. He served many deities such as Kiel, god of thunder, Mardu, god of Wisdom and the Sun, and Bellona, goddess of warfare. He was an honest and forthright man and never questioned the gods or his vow of celibacy. This came to an end when he drew the attention of Lila, the goddess of love and beauty. She became enamored of him and visited him a show of divine glory and beauty and attempted to seduce him. Fearing the consequences of breaking his oath to the gods, he refused. This enraged Lila, who left him and prompted her to place a spell on Bellona, goddess of warfare, who became enamored with him as well and tried to seduce him. While Theo still refused, Bellona did not take no for an answer and forced herself on him as Lila alerted Mardu to what had happened.

The consequences was catastrophic. Mardu cursed Theo for his perceived offenses even as Bellona joined him, having regained her senses, but humiliated by the whole episode. Theo left his home, pursued by the curses of the gods and Lila, who continues to toy with him. He has resolved to live, but for what purpose, he does not know.

When he was younger, Theodosos never imagined that he would be in a place like this. The taverns of Nassau were filled to the brim with thieves, whores, and scoundrels of every shape and size. The type of scoundrel that held sway here was, of course, the pirates. Pirates were scum in the eyes of the world. A convicted one was hung quickly if he or she was lucky. If they were not ready, they suffered longer punishments, though, no punishment could compare to his.

"Hello, lover. You seem down," a sweat voice whispered in his ear. Theo was not surprised to see a beautiful figure sit across from him. She was dressed provocatively and wouldn't have looked out of place here among the whores save for the aura of power he could feel coming off her in waves. He nursed his pint. Once, he might have thrown it at her, but he knew it was no use. He could not harm a goddess.

"Your curse does have that effect, Lila," he said dryly. She laughed lightly. In all fairness, she should have attracted unwelcome attention by now, but none could see her. None but him. He stared in his pint. Was there a true God? Lila had taught him that the gods of his people much too petty to be divine. Once, such a question might have interested him, but now, he was beyond caring.

"I wouldn't call it a curse so much as a game. You are so interesting, Theo. I like interesting."

"That is not all that you like about me. How did it feel to be rejected?" he asked with a light smile. The goddess frowned at him.

"How does it feel to lose so many friends? Honestly, with mortals so short-lived and us gods immortal, I am unfamiliar with the loss humans experience. Losing a mortal to death... It's like losing a pet. There are plenty more."

"Captain Black Bart was a good man, Lila. He did not deserve to die. You will pay. Maybe not by my hand, but you will pay. Now leave, whore!" he snarled, thrusting forward with his fingers to cause a bolt of lightning to spring out of them at her. But, like so many times before, she simply vanished, leaving a smoking chair behind.

"You are mine, pet. You could have experienced pleasure far beyond a mortal's wildest imagination. Now, you are reduced to this. Be careful, that little display attracts a lot of attention in places like this.

Theo finished his drink, nonplussed. He laughed wildly and stood up.

"I still live! Now, a round of drinks on me!!!!" he cried, much to the delight of the onlookers he attracted. He made a pile of coins on the table.

"To Black Bart!" he whispered as he was brought another pin

Kalila's hands dropped to her side as the two boys approached them. The one seemed to be avoiding looking at her while the other's eyes were locked on Jarrak.

They had a 67 percent chance of getting out of this without a fight.

The odds were low.

Kalila stepped in front of Jarrak, as the one invaded his personal space, Jarrak wouldn't react well to that.

Kalila looked up at the boy, he wasn't much older then her, a few years or so. She reached up and touched his face, examining it and in the same moment began to convulse, her slate grey eyes never moving from his as flashes images passed before her eyes. Blood, a stone room, pain.

This is why she never liked to be touched. Jarrak, her mother and father were the only people able to touch her, she could see the past. She could only touch her father when her mother was around to hinder her ability...she tried it once and was unconscious for a week.

Kalila's eyes began to roll behind her head.

"F-fff for your...brrottthheer...." She said before dropping unconscious.

Alexandrine sat in a bar, a hood covering her head as a crowd of people suddenly poured in, her eyes were on the dark skinned man who seemed to be talking to himself. She watched him as lightning flung from his fingertips.

Her eyes narrowed but she waited for him to calm.

As the crowd rushed in. Alexandrine moved to a barstool beside him. The rogue ordered another drink for the both of them.

"People might dz'ing your crazy, with dz'e way you go on by yourself like dz'at." She said, her voice low, her Velalian accent thick in her words. "Dz'ere is alot of magic in, Nassau, but never on such display...no'dzing real anyway." She said sipping her drink.

"People might dz'ing your crazy, with dz'e way you go on by yourself like dz'at."

Theo looked up to find a woman he hadn't seen before take a seat beside him. He could only assume she was a Velilian with that accent of hers. He chuckled as he took a sip of his own pint.

"People could't care less if I was crazy or not. All that matters to this crowd," he said, gesturing at the people around them who were drinking, laughing, cursing, and brawling in their own little world, "Is that they got a free pint out of it."

"Dz'ere is alot of magic in, Nassau, but never on such display...no'dzing real anyway."

"I take that as a compliment. I've been training since I was a boy. Of course, such power inevitably attracts attention from powerful people, particularly if you're serving in their temple!" he laughed. He took another sip from his pint.

"Of course, such powerful people are fickle. You do not always like their attention."

He paused for a moment, lost in deep thought.

Benyamin's crew made port in Nassau and brought out their haul of artifacts to study and preserve, carried in crates. It was a typical day at home, the locals going about their day, paying little attention to the men blending in with the crowd. As soon as they made it to their hidden stronghold underground, the crew of Benyamin Ancariis unloaded the haul, revealing tablets and other ancient items from thousands of years prior. Each was placed carefully within an area of the "museum", as the captain loved to call it, making sure not to damage anything. Soon enough, there was the usual cleaning and dusting to keep all the artifacts in as good shape as possible. Repairs were made when necessary, and everything was inspected to find out as much about them as possible.

So far, Benyamin has studied documents, statues, figurines, weapons, even pieces of war machinery. Every examination revealed something new to him, which is something he enjoyed to the fullest. "Nice work, boys! A job well done! Look at how big this museum is! An entire wealth of knowledge can be uncovered, here! To celebrate our progress, why don't we all head to the bar in town above and get us a few tables?"

Nobody objected to that, and soon they made their way to the pub where they managed to get seven tables, some crewmates purchasing beer, others some wine. Benyamin himself bought a sparkling wine with a sweet taste to it. There were the typical antics of others, which the drew did its best to ignore as they plotted their next journey. Benyamin, of course, knew the best source for where to search for ancient artifacts was a certain fae with a Velilian accent, by the name of Alexandrine. He scanned the place for her until she spotted her conversing with a peculiar man he thought he read abut with deities giving him grief. It was a pity how the former priest ended up the way he did, yet there was little he could do for him.

It would have been rude to interrupt Alexandrine in the middle of her conversation, so he waited until she was away from him to approach. "Afternoon, ma'am."

"Alexandrine."

"Theodosos," he replied, raising his half-empty pint in a salute. He heard the door open and his spine tingled. The female who entered with whom he assumed to be her bodyguard or subordinate felt powerful. He raised an eyebrow. It wasn't everyday that someone set off his senses like this.

"What powerful person has dz'eir hand up your ass?"

Theo couldn't help but laugh at her comment. He regarded her semi-seriously with a playful smile on his face, "Hmm... Well, those would be three powerful persons. Gods, actually. Bellona, goddess of war, Mardu, god of magic and wisdom, and Lila, goddess of love. It was Lila that orchestrated the whole thing. I caught her eye, I turned her down, she cast a spell on Bellona, I was raped, blamed for it by Mardu and I am cursed now. "May your blade fail when you need it the most, may your wisdom fail you, may those around you suffer." That sort of thing. So, I left home. Gods of Drake are not as powerful so far from Drake. Except Lila. Love is universal. She has decided to make me her own personal plaything."

As he finished speaking, he almost jumped out of his seat. It was one thing to feel the prescence of another magic user. This felt much stronger. His eyes fell on a pleasant-looking man who greeted Alexandrine. Yet again, he raised an eyebrow.

"Friend of yours?"

Benyamin realized immediately Alexandrine is was not the fae he was seeking. In fact, a closer inspection revealed her to be human. He then remembered that it was Aja he should have talked to. "Oh! Sorry! Wrong person! Although, I guess it's rude not to say who I am before going since you asked. My name is Benyamin Ancariis." He then jerked his head sideways because he and his brother were well known among both angels and humans. "Yes, Adir is my brother, a hotheaded one, at that. People often call me the Angelic Pirate because, well, let's just say I'm not your typical one. Anyway, sorry to have troubled you, ma'am. My memory was mixed up, for a moment. It's been a while since I last made port." He then went back to his table and resumed with his drink.

Theo had watched Alexandrine and the strange angelic-looking captain with bemusement. After a few minutes, she had returned to their table and, finding she was halfway out the door, ran over to her with another offer of free drink and sat them both down at their previous table.

"Pirates... You just can't pen them down. And I've been a pirate myself for years," He told her with a slight grin. He finished his drink and smiled wistfully, "Black Bart was something else. He wasn't a good man. He raided and murdered without care in the world. In fact, he often did it with a smile on his face. But he had a way with inspiring his men. He did not deserve to die as he did: thirteen stab wounds and a bullet in his stomach."

"I've been thinking of joining another crew. What big names are in Nassau at the moment? Do you have any opinions? We can join together."

(Sorry for the short post. There isn't much for my character to do at the moment. Me and Mal are thinking of having Theo and Alex join a crew together.)

"Yeah I can see something. Where did you get the dragon produce?" a new feminine voice said.

Normally, Mara would simply ignore the person. If she could find the island, so could anyone else (with a bit of luck), but she could feel a magical essence practically radiating off of this woman. She was obviously a Witch. Mara did not look away from Lady Harlington, "I do not believe my question was addressed to you, miss. If you must know, an island, unmarked, uncharted. You have to be fairly lucky to find it."

Now that she thought about it, there were several magical presences nearby, including one very familiar one. Mara felt her heart stop, but her face displayed no more emotion than it did the moment before. She smiled at Lady Harlington, "Hopefully we can negotiate without interruption?"

Still her thoughts remained trained on the woman and she made a gesture to Kane, who nodded. He took Mara's empty wineglass to refill it. Mara tapped her fingers against the table thoughtfully as she waited for Lady Harlington to come to a decision. Her eyes flickered over to a man discussing something with a woman; he was one of the presences. Kane set down a new glass of wine on Mara's table before walking over to the man and setting another mug of beer in front of him, "You's looking a crew, mate?"

Mara turned her attention away from Kane and the man and to Lady Harlington, "I apologize. Where were we?"

"There seem to be a lot of authentic magic-users appearing in Nassau lately," Theo commented. Just now, he had sensed yet another magic-user, a red-haired woman who had interrupted the magic-user he sensed earlier and what looked like a noblewoman in a mask and now the same magic-user who had been interrupted now interrupted his conversation. He smiled slightly at the irony.

"My friend here just told me that real magic is rare in her experience," he chuckled. He gestured for Alexandrine to follow him as he took the offered mug of beer and sat beside his new companion. He bowed slightly to the noblewoman. He had heard of her and the last thing he needed was another powerful woman wanting him to suffer.

"Milady. Forgive my interruption," he told her before nodding at the woman who addressed him. Judging by her magical prescence and what he heard of the different pirate captains over the years, this had to be Captain Mara "Red Water" Vana.

"My old one passed away through fire, water, and a vengeful goddess' wrath."

Theo watched the people around them for an hour. At last, he turned to Alexandrine and spoke, "There is a pair of captains who are decent as far as pirates go. What do you know of Captain Damien and Captain Sebastian?"

Alexandrine looked over at him. "No, not farmilar, but I rarely run wit' a crew," She said. "Jump from ship to ship, if only to get closer to where I need to be." She said. "Who are dz'ey?"

"They have a reputation for being... odd. From what I heard, they're quite good chaps, unusual for a couple of pirate captains. For one thing, they aren't looking to screw each other over. If there is anyone we can expect a decent deal from, it'd be them," Theo told the girl with a small grin as he took a sip out of his mug.

"Also, I hear they are quite chivalrous without looking to get some booty. Either kind," he added with a laugh at his own joke.

Alexadrine cut her eyes at him for his joke. "Clever." She said and drank the last of her grog.

"You wouldn't happened to know where these two are, would you?" She asked, adjusting her hood. "It's getting late, they're probably down for the night,"

"You haven't been to this port for long, have you?" he asked with a grin as he finished the rest of his drink, "It's easy to find someone here if you know how to look."

Alexandrine merely shrugged. "Well dz'en, we'd better start looking." She said and stood up from her seat, "Where do we start?" She said after placing down payment for her drinks.

"We goto the streets and ask around for a pair of brothers in the company of maidens far above them," he told her with a grin as he motioned her to follow him out onto the streets, "If the rumors are true, one of them is a romantic."

Alexandrine shook her head. "Terrific." She said with a huff and walked along with him. "Just what we need" She said rolled her shoulders. "Let's start at the docks."

"Oh, don't think like that," he teased as he headed for the door. He raised an eyebrow as he practically ran into his quarry. He frowned slightly. This was too easy. Were the gods playing tricks on him. Nonetheless, he smiled at the group before him.

"Captain Damien? Or is it Sebastian?"

Damien

ImageDamien walked above deck, grumbling under his breath about being big, but apparently not big enough to not be carried like luggage by his friend. He had blood all over his clothes and deck and it irritated him too. Where had Sebastian gotten off to? There was light now as he moved about on his deck freely, accepting a new white shirt that someone handed him.

He'd have to wash the blood off somewhere, not on his ship. He could go into the water, but it was cold and he didn't feel like swimming. He'd rather just have a bath at an inn, but money was always tight with the brothers stockpiling it all away in various parts of the world. He hadn't even eaten yet but was told Jarrak had gotten his share, and hadn't even eaten that! Doesn't he know that when you aren't royal food isn't served on a silver platter?

Now Jarrak, Kalila, and Sebastian were all running around in town having fun without him probably. He could just go into town and find a girl to kiss a few times before leaving, but what fun would that be at this time of night? Plus they were all in their houses. He's already had his drinks for the night, didn't want to go out to buy food, but didn't want to make any here either where his crew would see that maybe they had more money they could spare when they really didn't, he would just grab a few coins from a man he passed on the street probably.

He changed his shirt quickly, then set off with a few others towards a nearby tavern that wasn't too far away, but was most definitely "inland". They each grabbed whatever amount they needed for either a drink or small meal. Just as he was entering, his hand holding just enough to buy him something to eat, Damien ran into a man and a woman. "Captain Damien? Or is it Sebastian?" the man asked causing Damien to scowl slightly.

He didn't think he looked too much like his brother, perhaps a little, but not enough that they should be confused. Then again, he had grown up with him and had seen the two compared to each other long enough to tell their faint, but subtle differences.

"Does it really matter? I can answer any question you may have and no, I don't wish to fight right now, I'm actually pretty tired. Kato will fight you if you really want a challenge that's larger instead of faster," Damien offers, answering a question most people ask him in the dead of night when he enters a tavern. It wasn't often, but when he did, it was always the same. Can we brawl? Can we see who is truly the better pirate? No you couldn't because it was clear to everyone but the challenger annoyingly enough.

"Damien, you aren't fascinated by the lady?" One of the crew members behind him whispered. Damien shrugged. In fact, he wasn't. She was pretty, sure, and normally, who would have started hitting on her already, but he didn't really want to. His thoughts drifted to Kalila which caused him to scowl again at his impudence.

"Shut up Luke," Damien demanded. "Is there something you want sir? I was hoping to eat at some point today and was planning on doing it in the next couple of minutes," Damien says rubbing the back of his neck as he slips his coins in his pocket.

Damien

Damien watched the girl, his eyes hardening as she mentioned joining the crew. He stopped smiling and moved past the two, motioning for them to follow as he took a seat, waving at Kato to order for him. Kato knew what to get so he'd be fine.

"I don't really care if you join my crew or not, but there are some rules and you have to be willing to listen to two seventeen year olds. One thing you need to realize in Nassau... Everyone, is looking for new crew members. The only thing is, some have bad reasons for wanting crew members. Now I don't care if you and your friend hate me, because it looks like you do, but so long as you respect my brother and my words and decisions, we'd be glad to have you both," Damien says, being serious. His crew had each seen him serious, all when they joined, but every other time, he was probably the most lenient out of the brothers.

"Tell me, I'm curious, what do you want in a crew and what can you do?" Damien asks, sitting back to lean against the wall behind him. His crew sat at a separate table to allow the three some privacy in business.

Sebastian

Sebastian was surprised to hear Kalila talk of the guys before again were coming. He was just mulling over her comment about those by the door, how she knew he was there, when he was grabbed.

How had he been grabbed? He was off his game and was pretty tired, and he was really freaked out by Kalila knowing he was there. When he was held off the ground by what appeared to be a freaky man. He struggled as he held the guys hand. He wasn't going to draw any of his guns or weapons when he was definitely not in a good place what with Kalila also there, possibly hurt, or unable to do anything.

"Kalila, you okay?" Sebastian asks as he looked over at her. He was having such a weird day. "And put me down you big idiot," Sebastian says, about to say something much worse when he though it might be a bad idea since this guy was taller, stronger, and possibly faster than him. Sure he was a pirate captain as a teenager and could beat most men, but when they were ridiculous and not necessarily human, he was in a rough spot.

"I'm going to rephrase that. Please put me down now. You heard Kalila, I'm not the freaking enemy. I just came to get her before her guardian kills me in my sleep in his anger," Sebastian says as he kicks his feet, unaccustomed to being off the ground because of someone else.

Theo shrugged at Alexandrine's words, "I heard they were a lot more cheerful."

He turned to Damien, an equally serious expression on his face, "We are both well-aware of the type of crews we don't want to join. I suggested we join you two to my comrade because you both have a reputation for honorable conduct and true skills. Either trait is in short supply around these parts and both together is well worth an interrogation such as this.

"As for what we can do... Well, I will only speak for myself. I am skilled with the sword, but you probably have that in good supply. I am a former Priest and Magi of Drake. I know lore where most pirates know only superstition and I can command the elements. I hope that is satisfactory."

Damien

Damien shrugs at the comment of them being more cheerful. "Usually, we are. Today has been really weird, stressful, and rather hurtful though. And perhaps the weirdest day of my life all together," Damien says as he accepts a plate of food.

"Honorable, eh. We only kill if we have to and we don't touch a lady if they don't want to be touched. We won't kill a lady either, unless she is a pirate and is trying to kill us. Skills, now, I am better with knives and quick hands, my brother is a strategist and a near perfect shot. I can brag about him because he is off chasing down someone I believe right now. Most pirates here, they'll kill you and take your money, but I, you see, will just take your money. Money is always in short supply too, so we ration often so if we have to go to sea at the spur of the moment, we don't die," Damien says as he takes a sip of water before a bite of food.

The guy spoke again and his words made Damien groan inwardly, "As for what we can do... Well, I will only speak for myself. I am skilled with the sword, but you probably have that in good supply. I am a former Priest and Magi of Drake. I know lore where most pirates know only superstition and I can command the elements. I hope that is satisfactory."

Great, more magical people. Why was today full of weird magical people? "Elements, commanding of them, that's insane. If you were a priest, that means you know how to read, that in itself is a good thing that would get you on my crew. As long as you know that there's always the risk of death, and I won't be responsible for your death, though of course any of the crew would avenge it, then you can come back to our ship with us tonight," Damien says with an appreciative nod.

Though Sebastian knew how to read well enough, he couldn't teach it. Maybe this guy could teach Damien. He looked to the girl now. "We actually don't have any ladies on our ship, so, you wouldn't have much, if any privacy though you could have it should they guys give it to you," Damien says as he sits up.

"Money wise, you get to keep half of what you get on the street, then we pay a sum once a month, unless you're here for the sake of adventure, then you get meals and when you want something we get it for you, or you just borrow it forever," Damien says. He hated explaining this stuff and usually left it to Sebastian, but Sebastian wasn't here unfortunately.

Damien looked the two in the eyes. "We don't steal from older people or people who don't deserve it, and we only steal because otherwise, we would all die as would the families of the crew members. I know it isn't something some people like, and you don't have to, but you would have to work in each port if you didn't, that or guard the ship. Now again I ask you, what would you like in a crew? Would it be a captain who respects you? A first mate who'll listen to problems? What?"

Damien was honestly curious and let it show. He didn't know why people came to him and his brother when he saw some of their actions as unjust even if they were necessary. He had even killed that evening and though he didn't like killing, he knew it was necessary.

Sebastian

Sebastian nodded though he didn't do anything but stand and walk to the window, looking out and wondering if he would see any of his crew members off to have a drink or find a girlfriend they hadn't seen in a while. Instead, he saw something worse. "We need to leave now, Kalila, put this on and keep your head down," Sebastian said as he slipped his jacket off and tossed it to her. He also passed her is hat as he went to close the shutters.

"They're in the street. We can't leave the front way," Sebastian says as he looks out once more before closing the shutters. He felt slightly cold in just his white shirt that wasn't entirely white anymore, it had just faded and though it was mostly clean except for Damien's blood, it wasn't white.

"Hey, let's hope my brother didn't listen to me and disobeyed. He'll be in the tavern a few doors down. If he's there, the crews there and we have a better chance for her to survive," Sebastian mutters under his breath as he reaches in his pocket to pull out bandages, wrapping them around his hands and wrists. Then he realized, Kalila would probably be a lot safer touching this guy in the bandages since he was covered in them.

"Hey, guy, think you could carry her and run at the same time? We'll need to leave out the back door and they may try to fire at her or hurt her and I know she can take care of herself, but Jarrak already hates me and if I let her get hurt anymore, he will just turn me in to her parents and then I'd be hanging in a few hours," Sebastian says, saying the part about Jarrak under his breath, as he checks his loaded guns before looking at Kalila.

"Kalila, we gotta get you to the ship, find Damien if we get split up though I doubt we will," Sebastian says as he looks at the bandaged guy. "Think you can handle this?" Sebastian asked with a smile, doubting the man wouldn't be.

Yes, but I cannot stop them, that's more of your department. I can, however, help you control them. It's not too hard actually. You could learn the school of Divination to hold control over those voices of yours. Of course I can teach you all of this if you can help me, but first you would need to learn about the school."

Kalila looked at him, and nodded feverishly. " I want to learn, Please, teach me, I want to learn to talk, like a normal girl!" She said having stood up sharply, it was the she was struck by a jacket and a hat was atop her head. She paused in confusion.
"We need to leave now, Kalila, put this on and keep your head down," He told her and Kalila frowned some. "They're in the street. We can't leave the front way," Kalila was greatly confused.

"Dorian? I don't understand?" She said and then smiled. " Should I call you Master, like we do for all the teachers in Jeddah?"

"Hey, let's hope my brother didn't listen to me and disobeyed. He'll be in the tavern a few doors down. If he's there, the crews there and we have a better chance for her to survive,"

Kalila looked from Sebastian to Dorian.

Hey, guy, think you could carry her and run at the same time? We'll need to leave out the back door and they may try to fire at her or hurt her and I know she can take care of herself, but Jarrak already hates me and if I let her get hurt anymore, he will just turn me in to her parents and then I'd be hanging in a few hours,"

Kalila sighed. "Master, Can you tell him they aren't coming now, for now we are safe." she thought. "and I can walk on my own." She added pointedly.

"Kalila, we gotta get you to the ship, find Damien if we get split up though I doubt we will," Sebastian says as he looks at the bandaged guy. "Think you can handle this?"

Kalila just pulled the coat over her shoulders. He was atleast trying, she supposed.

"We actually don't have any ladies on our ship, so, you wouldn't have much, if any privacy though you could have it should they guys give it to you," Damien says as he sits up, looking at her. She shrugged. "Not a problem." She said plainly.

"Money wise, you get to keep half of what you get on the street, then we pay a sum once a month, unless you're here for the sake of adventure, then you get meals and when you want something we get it for you, or you just borrow it forever," Damien continued, seemingly annoyed by the explanation. Alexandrine stayed quiet, she wasn't too keen on speaking about why she was here, lest her temper rise and her curse activate.
What?"
Alexandrine decided to pulled back her hood, and show them her true face, scar and all.
"I'm looking for the man who murdered my husband, kidnapped my daughter, and slaughtered my entire village, and left me cursed with his rage and dz'e, I don't much care what dz/e crew is like, I was a warrior, I can work with anyone so long as they work with me." She said and though her face was even, her heart raced. She took a few breaths to calm it down. "I'm a fair enough sailor, but I'm really good at killing dz'ings."

Damien

Damien watches the lady as she pulls back her face. He doesn't react other than to study it then shrug. Wasn't the first time he'd seen a scar, and it certainly won't be the last when he looked in the mirror at bedtime.

"I'm a fair enough sailor, but I'm really good at killing dz'ings," She said, catching Damien's interest. "I'm a fair enough sailor, but I'm really good at killing dz'ings."

He considered her words. Normally, when one joined the crew, he would take them to where they wanted so long as he wasn't doing anything at the moment. This could be her thing, lest he wasn't busy with something, a girl, that was hopefully with his brother.

"Then let's find the bastard. They'll gladly work with you, just be a friend and they'll be one back. We won't kill often unless we need to, but so long as you can hold your own in a fight, I'd be more than happy to welcome you aboard. You will, however, need to provide me, or rather my brother, with information about the guy and your village so we'll know where to look for information." Sebastian was good at plotting, and even though he wasn't one to hunt someone down, people like this, he could hunt down better than most.

"Tonight, I'll introduce you to my brother. Would you like something to eat or drink?" Damien asks. He had a coin or two left and was sure others did too, plenty to buy something for two people, as long as they didn't order the entire menu.

"I don't want anything except a way to keep a step ahead of my former employers and gold and food for my own survival," Theo said simply. He neglected to tell the Captain that his "former employers" were the gods he served. It was information he decided to keep to himself until it was more convenient to reveal it. At his offer to buy them food and drink, Theo grinned.

"You are the type of captain I like, good sir. I'll take some good stew to sober up. As for your crew, I will have most of them semi-literate by the end of the month," he boasted with a grin. He raised an eyebrow at Alexandrine's tale. He could sympathize. He lost more people than he cared to remember.

"What will you do after your vengeance, Alex? Soon, you will have to live again. Vengeance is a fleeting satisfaction."

He chuckled to himself.

"Once a priest, always a priest, eh? Some habits are hard to break."

Damien

Damien watched the exchange, listening quietly. He may talk often, and loudly, but he also could listen at the best of times. Damien watched as she seemed to have something go through her head. An old pain, or perhaps a memory. He had those too, as did Sebastian, Sebastian more so since he remembered more about the worse times.

Have any of you heard of Bluebeard, taker of children?" She asked, "Because dz'at's d'e man we are after, if you can call him dz'at."

Damien thought back, did he know of a Bluebeard? It was a weird name. He ran a hand through his hair as he shook his head. He knew people's faces better than their names.

"Damien, that's the guy that killed George's twin," Kato spoke up. George was back at the ship at the moment thankfully. Damien nodded, his head lowering.

George was Kato's best friend. During a raid, the group was separated from the twin, and when they finally found him, he was dead. There had been George, running to him, then he went down, but Kato helped him out and they managed to get back to the ship before the crew was forced to push off to keep from being overrun.

"I know the guy... Yeah, we'll be after him soon enough. We have some business to finish here in Nassau first. We've been having a... a weird day... a really weird day, and we need to make sure that some people are okay.

By the way guy, most of the crew knows how to read,"
Damien says softly, under his breath. "We can talk more on the ship," Damien says softly, hoping that he wasn't asked to explain that he was the only one in the crew that was pretty bad at reading.

Kato brought over a bowl of soup for the guy. "Well, eat up, and having a priest might be good. Some of us have... difficulty, talking or thinking of religious figures," Damien says with a shrug, "At all really."

Damien shrugs as he takes another bite of food. He looked out the window, wondering where his brother and Kalila were. Oh, Kalila... He shook his head. She was a freaking princess who hosts a goddess. Any of her friends back home would probably kill him on sight. He couldn't even consider the possibility. She couldn't communicate with him other than when they went through memories, or so he thought so far. She also couldn't be touched. At the thought of touch, Damien remembered the kiss and felt himself blush. He was blushing? He was blushing? He had killed, kissed, and even threatened, but blushed? Never. He ducked his head, ignoring the comment he heard Kato mention something about cupid.

Laying comfortably against him, Aja circled rings around his chest as his hands moved up and down her back. She knew she was enjoying this much too much, and it wasn't the activity, though it didn't hurt. She felt safe, which was odd because she hadn't needed to feel safe before, most everyone on Nassau knew she was fae and that fear alone kept most at bay, sure there were times, like before, where disbelievers wished to test their might against her hand and she would handle it appropriately, yet now, she didn't have to worry about that, not while he was around anyway.
“I said earlier that I ‘ad went to check on a friend. ‘E was not alone. ‘E ‘ad wit’im a girl, an’ she told me, ‘Tell ‘er, I am ‘ere.’ I think she somehow knew that I was seein’ ye. I don’t know ‘ow. We jus’ met an’ I ‘ave never seen the girl in me life. She was strange. This comin’ from the strangest ov’em all,”

Aja looked up at him with wide eyes. "She told you...?" She said and muttered something in a different language. "D'e girl is here? D'en I must prepare."She said and rose from the water, she looked at him and frowned before stepping out of the bath. She grabbed a red shaw and wrapped it around herself, though water clung to her hair.

"D'ere is so much to do, oh so much to do..." She said hurriedly, moving about the bathroom, looking for her clothing, which was strewn about. She paused her haste and looked at Mako, and frowned again.

"D'at girl, she be more important, more powerful d'en you can ever possibly know..." She said, slowing down.

"She is going to change d'e world."

"That was a simplified version of the truth, but not quite. History is a key subject for us casters because we have to except all versions of the subject in order to find the truth of it. It's similar to casting our own magic. One must accept all versions, regardless of philosophy or standing, in order to truly become skilled.

"All war begins with an origin story. Decades ago their was an embargo on food from the North made against the empire of Khalidor over the issue of slavery that caused a widespread famine. The famine killed millions, gave rise to Wanhope, and created an intense hatred for their neighbor. Before you were born another famine hit that empire and instead of facing it, Wanhope ordered for the occupation of the North. The country was overran and thus began the Great War. Khalidor and its allies invaded the nations of Galapagos, Velilia, the North Atlantic states, and Valyrians. It involved twelve nations and hundreds of thousands of soldiers. The war finally ended with a change in regime within Khalidor, the new King of the North, and various treaties being formed."

Kalila nodded, taking in his lesson as she walked. "Khalidor? I've heard that name before....Khali, she is a goddess yes? Like Ishka?" Kalila asked. Ishka had many names, her father had told her once, he said that even the Fae Goddess, Anansi, may be another form of Ishka as well. Kalila needed to know more about her.

Alexandrine was grateful for the change of subject. She didn't want to talk about Bluebeard, thought it was likely that the one Damien referred to was someone who took up the moniker, not the actual Bluebeard. It wouldn't be the first, people claimed to be the Crimson Lady, Bluebeard, Davy Jones, all the time, it was sad but true. She didn't know how many times she came to find her daughter and only to find some poor excuse for a pirate dressed up like a fool, claiming to be Bluebeard, probably was she saw Bluebeard's face. She knew it, it haunted her dreams, plagued her thoughts and Bluebeard, He knew her. He laughed in her face as he cursed her. Those fools, didn't know her from anyone else. It didn't matter, her rage took them.

She picked at her food, idly, her appetite was gone, she didn't have much of one to begin with.

"When you are done with your training you will only be limited to what you believe the limits to be. You'll be able to control when your goddess uses your body, when she speaks, and with time you will be able to speak as well. Until then you just need patients."

Kalila smiled up at him. "I'll try my best, Master, Thank you." she said and gave a respectful nod and soon they rounded the corner and were at the tavern. She walked in without any hesitation and walked up to Damien as he was seated with the woman from her vision, as well as a man that had a strange aura, it seemed as though a colors hovered over him, with a woman's shape, that was draped over him like a lover. He didn't seemed to be aware of it at the moment but Kalila could see it. She looked at Damien and thne to the woman. She pulsed in her vision and the voices started up in a loud roar, loud enough that MAster Dorian could hear if he were listening.

Find him, Find Bluebeard, Help her, End him."

Kalila swallowed and looked at her master as if to ask 'Can you hear it?'

The woman looked up at her, curiously. "Hello, Can we help you?" She asked gently, like a mother would. Kalila opened her mouth but her words wouldn't come. This was the woman she was supposed to meet yet she couldn't speak to her?

Kalila's eyes rolled up into her head and she began to convulse again, falling backwards as images passed before her eyes..

Alexandrine watched in horror as the girl suddenly began to seize. She got to her knees, and turned the girl on her side and stuck an sheathed dagger in her mouth so she wouldn't bite her tongue. She had a comrade back in her group, he would fall into fits like these all the time, so she knew what to do. She looked up at the banadged man. "Do you know her, Come and help?!" She ordered, holding the convulsing girl.
