Description

Image

Name:
Anthony Shepard

Nicknames:
Captain

Age:
30

Role:
Captain: Waterbird

Appearance:
He has silky blue hair and purple eyes. He's usually either scowling or smirking. When he smirks, a small fang sometimes appears. He doesn't like to wear shirts but wears them out of necessity and just decides to leave them unbuttoned. He wears a cross on his chest and has about eight piercings in both ears each, none the same.

Personality:
Anthony is your typical hero. When he found out some of his people were taken he instantly insisted on being the one to help them. He's unfortunately not all smiles and laughs. He's actually pretty serious. Serious, yet charming when he has to be. He's an amazing charmer and has been able to wager himself an entire boat for a crate of rice just off his looks alone.

Likes:
~Water
~Family
~Fruit
~Friends
~Sugar
~Guns

Dislikes:
~Evil people
~Meat
~Losing

Skills:
He's amazing when he has his gun in hand.

Weaknesses:
Without a weapon he can barely fight his way out of things if he needs to.

Fears:
Small compressed places.

History:
Anthony has always been noble. Ever since he was little he would always pretend to be a hero, granted he never thought he'd get to try it out for real. He grew up in an orphanage, but was well taken care of. The keeper, Ann, was a real sweet heart and taught all of the children kindness and faith. He grew up to work on a trading ship (which he was able to barter off of someone) and easily became captain with a loyal crew.

Other:
N/A

spontaneous combustion~

Two glowing red eyes opened to another bright morning. The boat swayed back and forth, but a Pirate Captain should be used to this. Captain Curry stood, rubbing his eyes, one of which almost swollen shut. He let out a yawn as he got himself ready, putting on his captain's uniform, trousers, a white button up shirt, and a large overcoat. He attached his belt, which had a hilt for his sword and pistol. Lastly, he placed a comically large hat on his head. Stepping outside of his quarters, he let the breeze hit him, taking in the smell of salt water that stained the air. Yes, this was a mighty fine day for an execution.

Captain Curry began to trek through his boat, watching as men hurried to their positioned. They would hang the captives, for throwing them in the ocean would not work as well due to the species of some of them. Mermaids. He could sell them, for quite a price too, but the Englishmen had killed their young crew members. They were only trading that price.

Captain Curry looked overboard, peering at the water which seemed a green hue. It wasn't a dirty green, for it was actually quite pretty. The Captain took it as a good omen. He hurried to the kitchen, grabbing a bit of moldy bread, which he ate as if it was as clean as a whistle. He nodded to the cooks as he left. Thinking about the hanging that was about to take place didn't upset his appetite in the slightest. He even let out a deep bellowing laugh that almost made him sound like Saint Nicholas. But Captain Curry was far from a kind, jolly fellow.

"Are we ready?" the Captain asked some of the passing boys. He decided to be more specified. "For the execution, I mean, are we ready?"

Anthony looked up at his boat, the one he was able to get for a crate of rice, and sighed. This was not what he wished to use the boat for originally, but he wanted to save these people. Plus, no one else was willing to risk their ships.

Anthony turned to his navigator, "Barnabas! Are we ready yet? We need to leave and we need to leave now!" Anthony rubbed his temples in frustration. It was going to be a pain to get these people back, but he was not going to let them die.

"Everyone! Get on the ship we're leaving soon!" He barked to his new sailors before turning on his heal and going to the center of the boat to await his sailors.

Aster Flichen

Aster turned to his captain once he spoke. 'Darn... Why do I always get caught when he wants to talk to some random person."
He looked at the boys next to him and realized they weren't speaking up out of slight fear.

Aster sighed, "We don't have enough rope to hang them all at once, Captain, only about... two at a time at most. And people right now are currently tying the nooses." He knew the captain would not be happy about this, but it was better known now than later.

He turned to Caleb, hoping he'd help him calm the Captain once he exploded. "Help..." He whispered out the side of his mouth. Caleb worked with the Captain more than himself. He was usually inside his own little work space waiting for idiots who got hurt to come in.

Al heard her captain shout "Everyone! Get on the ship we're leaving soon!" She ran with her boyish grin and stood front and center with the rest of the men. She saw a few eyes widen at her being a girl. She slightly bounced on her toes in excitement she thought to herself 'I should be able to control my temper as long as no one called me miss or lady' I watched our captain. He looked to be about 29 or 30. He hadn't noticed me yet, that was a good thing. So far everything had ran smoothly.

Anthony, not getting a response from Barnabas, realized the man wasn't anywhere near him when he asked the question. 'I'll just secure it with him later.' Anthony thought as he watched people gather around him.

"I welcome you all and thank you for being willing to risk your lives for others." Anthony started, "I am Captain Anthony Shepard. I expect all of you, no matter of size, speed," He glance over and notice a girl. He raised an eyebrow and continued, "Or even gender; I will expect all of you to to perform at your best ability. I expect this crew to work as a team, but I also want you to work like adults. I can not come fix every argument you have with one another.

If any of you think this is going to be easy or simple, get off now. We are going to rescue lives from a terrible man. I know many of you are angry at this fact since some of the people who were taken are close family or friends. But know, we are going to bring them back. If not, I will die trying. I would die for them, and I would die for you all if needed."

He stopped for a moment, "And I hope I am able to trust my life in your hands. But I hope more, that you can trust your lives in my hands. I will try my hardest to make sure everybody comes out of this alive. And if you die, I will personally make sure you were regarded as a hero.

And with that: I welcome you to my crew on the Waterbird and look forward to working with you~" When he finished, Anthony bowed his head slightly and gave a small smile to his new crew members.

((We seriously need more crew members on this ship XD))

Barnabas walked onto the ship last minute, making himself quite fashionably late. He wore a very extravagant outfit (much like the one that he is wearing in his profile picture) which successfully drew many glances to him. The Captain had just finished a speech, probably something heroic that Barnabas didn't feel horrible about missing. The crowd around the Captain quickly dispersed and Barnabas walked up to greet him. They had never really met before, but he had been told all about Captain Anthony Shepard and figured Anthony had heard about him as well.

"I take it that you are the Captain of this fine ship," Barnabas said, sticking his hand out for the man to shake. "I am your navigator. Although it will be quite difficult to track those rotten Pirates, for you really can't track on water, or at least I am not as skilled in that area, I will do my best to hunt down their sorry rumps and help you take back our citizens," Barnabas said, smiling pleasantly at his introduction.

"Not enough rope?" the Captain cried, enraged. "How are we supposed to hang the blasted-" he started, going off on poor Aster, who was only the deliverer of the message. Luckily, a woman quickly came up and informed him more were found. He let out a breath of relief. "Alright, fine. But any more mishaps and it'll be your necks hangin' from the nooses." The cabin boy, Caleb, offered to tie the nooses.

"Alright, off you all go. Back to work," he hissed. "And someone go round up the bloody captives." With that, the fungi covered Captain marched off barking more orders at innocent passerby's. He wanted to make sure everything went according to plan. The nasty Englishmen deserved nothing more than to die and none believed it more than him.

The captain took the outstretched and and gave it a firm shake. "Barnabas. You're late." Anthony said, "Anyways, as long as you are able to point us in the right directions it's fine."

Anthony took out his notebook and looked through his list of crew members; it seemed Barnabas was the last person they needed to leave. "Alright. Lift the anchor! We leave!" Anthony called out to whoever was at the anchor. The closest one too it seemed to be the girl he saw earlier. "Lift it, girl!"

Aster Flichen

It took all that he could for Aster not to yell, "Don't shoot the messenger!" at the Captain. But he and everyone else knew that's be a death wish. And the fact that his only help was that of a girl's bothered him even more.

When the Captain barked another order, he ignored it and went back down to his quarters/pharmacy/death room. It seemed that Curry was in an angry mood today, which meant that there would be many visits down there today.
"I hate my job." Aster grumbled, smacking his head down onto his desk.
He actually had a really demanding job. Since they lived in a terrible environment, any sort of cut or scratch could become deadly. So he he had to act as a nursemaid for every single person who got a freaking boo-boo. And he couldn't refuse them either since that could bring the wrath of Curry on him.

Al gave a short nod to her Captain and rose the anchor. She walked over to the captain and spoke "Captain I am sorry to speak out. But if you dare call me a girl aging you may loose a finger in an accident. I am Al that is the only name I'll respond to." She gave him a charming smirk and headed back to her post.

Anthony looked down at the girl and smirked, "Forgive me Al. But I do not recall you being on the register, so I did not know your name. And, little Al, if you were sorry, you would not have spoken out."

Anthony turned on his heel before adding, "Oh yes. And it'd do you well not to threaten your Captain. Respect goes where respect is do. Remember that."

And with that, Anthony started to walk around the ship, making sure his shipmen were doing their job.

Al gave out a huff of breath and went back to her post. She didn't mean to be rude and hated when people thought she was rude. She knew her mouth would get her into trouble eventually. She wanted to apologize to her captain but she didn't want to bother him. it made her think she is weak when called a girl. She waited until Captain was finished and came back to her post she continued working but spoke up. "Captain Sir, I really am sorry. Being a called a girl makes me feel weak. I am not weak. My mouth gets the best of me sir, I am truly sorry and I didnt mean to threaten you

When Anthony realized he had to go back to that girl's, Al's, post he sighed but walked over anyways. Almost instently she started talking, "Captain Sir, I really am sorry. Being a called a girl makes me feel weak. I am not weak. My mouth gets the best of me sir, I am truly sorry and I didn't mean to threaten you."

Anthony couldn't help but let out a laugh, "I have met many women tougher than myself you know. So if I call you that, it is not meant as an offense. Have you ever heard the term 'Men are stronger, but women are tougher'? It means you can take pain more easily than a male. Like child birth or heartache.
So if I were you, I would quit taking being called a girl as an insult, but as a compliment. Show them, gender does not matter. You heard me earlier, I expect you to perform just like anybody else on this crew."

Aster Flichen

Aster listened to the girl ramble. Just by the rambling alone he could tell it was a girl, not to mention the voice.
Aster folded his arms and looked the girl up and down, "Yeah. He's in a real crappy mood right now. So there is no convincing him. He thinks all British scum are worthless and deserve to die."
For once, he decided to take slight pitty on the girl and answer her question, "And you should die sometime today. Once the Cabin Boy finishes tying the nooses."

That was when something stumped him, "Wait... You're a girl... And you're a historian!?" He found the idea of a woman who did anything other than live for he family odd. Sure there were girls on this ship, but he no longer accepted them as females.

Al gave her usually quirky grin. "Guess you're right...." She looked up at him "God your freaking tall....That or it's because I'm short.." She started working again than paused for a second "Ya' know captain I've never heard anyone view women like that... I guess your not the worlds biggest jerk." she went back to working again.

"It's a mix of both I'd say. But don't worry, girl are cute when they're on the shorter side." Anthony teased.

"And when you grow up in an orphanage run by a woman, you tend to grow more respect for them." The Captain said, more to himself than anything, "Anyways, please work hard, Al."

"Oh yes. What is your full name? I would like to have your true name labeled down. Not a nickname." He asked, remembering his incomplete crew book.

Al laughed "Alasandrea Kipper, and don't worry sir Ill' work hard...". she looked up at captain "But really call me al." she continued working. "But hey if you need someone to get into a small tight place im your gal." She worked and her blouse moved slightly reviling a X shaped scar over her heart.

Anthony pulled out his note book, crossed something out and wrote something else. He closed the book and responded, "Don't worry. I'll call you by your name. It's just a good thing to know someone's full name."

He glanced over at her and noticed a small scar over her heart. He was curious yes, but didn't know if it was a sensitive topic. She did join his ship and wanted to be treated like a guy, but Anthony still had morals. He turned his head, hoping that (if she even caught him looking) it didn't look like he was staring at her chest. Oh, one of the many problems of having a female on a ship full of men...

Aster Flichen

"Of course I haven't heard of a female historian! Women belong with their families in the home. Not having their noses stuck in their books!" Aster said, he voice get slightly louder with each sentence. His arms had un-crossed themselves and had started moving as he got more and more fired up. He thought back to his home. It was very different from her home, he knew that much.

Calming himself slightly, he folded his arms again. "You know. You're awfully whiny. Usually people give up and accept they're dead by now."

"ah don't worry bout it captain. its fine. Had an accident a few years back..... just saying the man is in worse shape than I." she smirked and kept workin. Soon it was time for the crew to eat, the captain decided to join but Al was occupied by all the tall men staring at her. "What are you starin' at?" she said out loud to the crew. One of the sailors spoke up "Well we never seen a lady like you miss." her temper rose and she grabbed a knife and threw it at him it stuck into the side of the wooden crate deep, she almost laughed. Al calmly got up retrieved her knife and walked over to the man. "I am not a lady, I am not a miss. I am Al." she sat back down. The big mouth sailor spoke again, this time to the captain. "Capin' what were you a thinking letting a weak lady on board?!" Al growled.

Anthony reached down and took the knife away from Al's hand, "I'll be taking this until you learn not to act first with violence. We just talked about this, Al." He scolded the small girl before turning to the man.

"And it was my choice to allow her here. You should not question what a captain chooses. Now. I am sick of playing a housewife who can not get her children to behave! Both of you will be mopping the deck this night!"

And with that, the angry captain placed the knife in his empty holster for his own dagger (he left it in his quarters) and went to go find his navigator and/or pilot. He'd noticed the signs of a storm brewing upon the horizon and did not wish to get stuck in it. Wondering if they'd be able to avoid it.

The storm arrived. We couldn't avoid it, it was to big. All the sailors sprung to action I hoisted the sails and threw water off the boat. I saw the captain and two others watch us. I huffed out a breath and kept working. Waves splashed over the boat making it rock violently in the sea, the skies poured down rain, the sea was black and deadly. A crate was blocking the way for me I called over to a sailor for help and he came over we moved the crate and he went back to his storm post. A huge wave crashed onto the boat soaking me wet It's icy fingers grabbed my ankle pulling me off the boat. I screamed. I was close to the water and I found a rope to grab to hold onto, I gripped the rope for dear life. It was literally my life line. "HELP!!!" I screamed, it was cut off by my body being plunged into the water I came up again and gasped for breath. I was not going to let the sea take my life.

He heard the mermaid girl say something but decided to pay his full attention to the Captain. "I was wonder if you were injured in any way, if any of the crew was injured (though you already answered this), and if you would allow me to fix the prisoners up. It seems, that one of them has a shard sticking out of her ribs. Not sure if you rather have them fixed up from a hanging or just let them die now."

While he was speaking her started to work on the girl/boy's legs, taking tweezers and pulling the smaller pieces of wood before pulling out the bigger ones with his fingers. "I get the feeling that more people got hurt down here than up there." He said to the captain.

Anthony Shepard

When Anthony saw one of his members fall over board, it seemed to have been Foster, he let out an annoyed sigh. "Alright, I'll get him." He said before shedding his shirt and weapons. He grabbed a life line, tied it to a sturdy board and himself, before jumping into the water after his fallen ship mate.

Pushing against the tough waves, he was finally able to reach the poor male. He untied the rope from himself and tied it around the almost sunken male. "I swear to god. If someone doesn't pull us up, I'll throw you overboard and not save you!" He yelled up at his crew. He didn't care who pulled them in, as long as someone did it.

Barnabas waited for the man to respond, but chaos struck as on of the crew fell off of the ship. Barnabas rolled his eyes, but the Captain actually went after the idiot who had managed to throw himself overboard! Barnabas scoffed, but heard the Captain cry out for someone to pull him out. No one responded. Barnabas scoffed. Why did he always get stuck with these jobs? Barnabas stood up and strutted over to the rope that the Captain had tied himself to. He heaved, but Barnabas wasn't the strongest guy in the world. He gasped as he slid at the weight, landing on his bum. He was a Navigator, not a body builder!

"How much do you lads weigh?!" Barnabas explained as he pulled himself up. He let out a gasp and heaved again, the two coming up just a bit. Barnabas climbed on top of the rope that was already stretched as far as it could, and placing his feet on it, began to jump, finally his weight causing it to sink. He sat down from there and began to heave until finally the Captain and the crew member's heads popped up. He let out an annoyed yet tired gasp as he stood up and walked back to him maps, collapsing onto the crate he had been sitting on earlier.

Rosemary had been started when she felt the waves collapse onto the boat. She had gripped the bars to her cell and held on for dear life, but her glasses had been whipped away from her and were sent under the bars, out of her reach. The waves had finally slowed down, but she was still completely blind without her glasses, the whole world had gone fuzzy. Blindly crawling around her cage, she ran into a pile of hay and collapsed onto it. She didn't think she was hurt, but it might have been helpful if she could see to check herself for injuries. She closed her eyes, a headache beginning to settle in.

Suddenly, she heard someone walk by the cells and into the doctors office across the hall. By the way he spoke, referring to "his men", Rose knew it was the Captain. She payed close attention. The doctor asked permission to check the prisoners for injuries.

"Fine," the Captain said to Rose's surprise. "I don't think we'll be able to hang them when our cabin boy just lost most of the rope, so better not let our hostages die without a proper execution." Rosemary felt hope finally flutter back into her... now if she could only find her glasses.

Anthony was the girl to get on board and pulled up the other man next. "What on earth were you thinking!" He yelled at his first mate, "Never mind, it wasn't your fault..."

"Everybody, get inside the ship before another one of you falls overboard!" Anthony yelled before grabbing his shirt and weapons and heading for the inside of the ship. "We'll wait the storm out." He said in a softer voice.

Aster Flichen

After Aster was finished patching up the girl he tapped the side of the table as a sign he was done. "Alright, anybody else beside the captives injured?!" He called out to the rest of the crew members. "If you are you have about 10 seconds to get in here!"

Aster walked out of his office and looked around at everybody, He glanced down at the captives and saw the the historian's glasses had fallen onto the ground. He picked up the round items and placed them in front of the girl who was wandering around her little area looking for them. "Here." He muttered, waiting for one of the crew to speak up.

Al and Foster hurried inside they were arguing and foster slapped her. The captain and crew saw this and their eyes widened in shock. Al in her tiny short frame stood up on her tiptoes and glared Foster in the eyes, everyone was inside the small cramped cabin dripping the salty ocean water. She slapped him hard and left a print on his handsome face. He balled his fists and lunged at the girl knocking her down and started hitting her she tried to fight back but he was to big. She needed help.
