Role; Lookout
Name; Pierre Giroux
Nickname; Frenchie
Age; 17
Written appearance; Pierre is a slender lad, measuring in at about 5 foot 8 inches and light as a feather. His face is of a generally round shape, with narrow eyes and a small nose set above a equally small and narrow mouth. Said eyes are a light brown color, hooded with long eyelashes and low eyelids that always seem to give the impression that Pierre is about to fall asleep. Pierre’s hair is a similar shade to his eyes, a chestnut brown. The strands themselves are straight, falling down the nape of his neck while long bangs almost cover one eye. He usually wears a bandanna to keep his hair out of his face. His legs and arms are long and lanky in proportion to the rest of his body, with a scar running up the outside length of his right arm. He dresses simply in dark breeches and a cotton shirt, usually layered with a navy blue jerkin. Pierre moves smoothly, with the air of one who could jump from the top of the Palace at Versailles and land quietly in the courtyard below, almost like a floating feather.
Personality; Pierre is a outspoken young man with a quick temper and prone to fits of emotion. He is very opinionated and stubborn; he will never back down on any point even if he no longer agrees with the view. If he does not like something, he will be extremely critical of it; if he likes it, he will praise it enthusiastically. Pierre is one of those annoying people who mix up being frank and truthful with being untactful and rude- he will not put up with anything in the least way negative said about him, but he will insult his friends and not realize it.
The young man, although not usually given to charm, will be friendly if needed. However, it is more than likely that he will be blunt and harsh to all who approach him. Surprisingly, he is still able to keep up a conversation like this. In fact, he can be quite likable- if he tries, anyway.
Pierre is not a fighter by nature- conflict comes to him, not the other way around. He finds light spars very enjoy able, but actual battle unnerves him. He covers this up with a bold front, often spitting French insults every which way for show.
Motive/Goal; Pierre only has one motive for joining with this crew – To continue sailing, so he can live on the sea until he dies.
History; Pierre was born and raised on a French merchant ship, the second son of the cook and the second mate and the first and only one to live to adulthood. He spent most of his youth traveling the Atlantic from Nouvelle France to the mainland and back, occasionally stopping in other French ports the the Caribbean Sea and elsewhere. Because he never spent more than a month at a time on any coast, Pierre regards the sea has his true homeland. At age ten, his mother fell sick with pneumonia and died, leaving Pierre alone with two baby sisters, both of whom died five weeks later, and his father, a distant figure in his life even though he lived on the same ship. He fended for himself mostly during the next three years, helping the new cook out to earn his meals, shining boots, airing out the cabins when the ship docked, and various other odd jobs.
At this point Pierre decided it was high time to leave the ship, and he ran away to the English colonies the next time they docked in the New World. He had learned a limited amount of English from the navigator, so the boy was able to fend for himself. He worked on an English supply ship to return to Europe. Since then, Pierre has worked on one other merchant ship and two pirate crews, not counting his current standing under the command of Captain Tok.
Even though he has been working among Englishmen for four year now, Pierre still has a noticeable French accent, resulting in him often referred to as “the Frenchie” or “the Froggie”. He is more or less used to it now.
