Sayuri is a very outgoing and optimistic girl. Most people enjoy her company and would like to be her friend. Despite this fact she is extremely selective when it comes to who she allows herself to get close to, but she would gladly give her life for the people she those people.

History
Sayuri was born in the small town of Floaroma, as the second child to Haruka and Kyou Akiyama. Because of the towns small size, there were very few children around her age, so for a long period of time her only friends were her older brother Ren, and an older neighbour, but after they left to begin their journeys she began to feel lonely and abandoned, until one day when she went out to the meadow nearby her house to read, and there she met a lone budew who watched her as she read. The next day she decided to go back to the same meadow, in an attempt to encounter the budew again, and it worked, when she got to the meadow the same budew was waiting for her. Each day until her thirteenth birthday Sayuri would meet with the budew, developing a deep bond with it. On her thirteenth birthday Sayuri's brother came to town, when he heard about her companion he offered to help her capture it so she could begin her journey, and she gladly took him up on his offer.
About 2 months into her journey Sayuri met a girl named Eve, after getting close to her Eve stole all of her money and most of her items. After what happened with Eve, Sayuri became a lot more careful and selective with who she allowed to get close to her, for fear of being betrayed again.
By the time Shaymin approached her Sayuri had achieved all eight Sinnoh gym badges, and was working on training her team to challenge the elite four. She didn't like the idea of leaving her old friend, the budew who had now become a roserade behind, but feared the consequences of refusing.
