Personality: Riza is very headstrong and outgoing. She knows exactly what she wants and likes, and that is what she will get. She is very determined and though things don't always go her way, she knows to make the best of it. She loves dark and ghost type pokemon but also likes psychic and some fire type. Her initial goal is to be a pokemon trainer, but she is also interested in breeding and simply taking care of sick pokemon. Though Riza may seem like a dark person, she has a large loving heart for pokemon and loves making friends.

Likes: Music, art, ghost type pokemon

Dislikes: little kids who think they know everything, over-confidence,

Fears: Having to go home completely defeated.

Bio: As a child, Riza knew she wanted to be a pokemon trainer. She always dreamed of what ghost and dark type pokemon she would train. However, her parents had something else in mind. When they would buy her dolls and other pokemon related things, they bought the cutest pokemon they could find. They didn't aprove of her like ghost and dark type, but she never changed her mind. She knew what she wanted and thats what she was going to get. When her parents bought her her first pokemon, she had hoped it would be something close to a dark type. Every day, for months, she told them several different pokemon she would love to have as her starter. Finally, graduation came and they held out her first pokemon in its pokeball. "You'll love it" Her mother told her with a warm smile. Riza's heart burst with joy as she just knew her parents had got her a gastly or poochyena. She grabbed the pokeball and released the pokemon. The dark mass she expected to see turned into a pink fluffy kitten. Her heard sank but never the less, she was thankful. This was the start of her pokemon journey and this pokemon would help her capture dark and ghost type pokemon.

Williams Residence

The sun shined brightly through the windows of the two bedroom house. Ms. Williams smiled as she walked up the stairs and to the door that said "KEEP OUT" along with various other things a teen might have to ward off others. Her smile never faded as she carefully opened the door and glanced inside to see her daughter still sleeping.
"Riza, its time to get up. You said to wake you up early." She called softly from the doorway. She knew very good and well that wasn't enough to wake her daughter, but it never hurt to try. "Riza..." she called again but was cut off. "Five more minutes!" Riza snapped, rolling over and pulling her covers closer to her chest. "Alright." Ms. Williams sighed before closing the door and walking down stairs.
"She didn't get up, did she?" Mr. Williams asked, though he knew the answer. Riza could sleep through anything. Fire, bomb, tornado; no matter what it was, she could probably sleep through it with no problem. She was the heaviest sleeper Mr. Williams had ever met, or even heard of for that matter.
"No she didn't. But when she does get up, you know she will be mad that I didn't wake her up." Ms. Williams laughed before pulling out the eggs and starting on breakfast.

A sudden scream that came from Riza's bedside table made her jump. It was loud enough, she was sure people down the road could hear. Though her eyes weren't completely open, she tried to find the alarm. Her hand ended up knocking several water bottles and coke bottles down before she actually found the alarm. Her fingers fumbled around the clock until she found the snooze button. With a small sigh, she forced her eyes open and stared at the time. For a second, her mind didn't register but soon she realized she was supposed to be up two hours ago. "MOM!" she screamed before jumping out of bed and running into the hallway. "I was supposed to have been gone by now!"

Within thirty minutes, she was dressed and had her hair done for the most part. Her pinkish hair was styled in a 'emo' cut with her long bangs pushed over to cover the left side of her face. The front and sides had been straightened perfectly, but since she was low on time, she left the back alone though it was already straight for the most part.
As she stared in the mirror, she checked to make sure everything was in place. Around her bright green eyes, she had a thick layer of eyeliner and on her eyelids, she had a smoky grey style. Her lips were a bright pink from the lip stain she had put on only a few minutes ago. Around her neck was a adjustable black leather band with a charm in the middle of it. The charm was a simple white circle with a picture of a haunter in the center of it. She smiled at the ghost. Along her wrist, she had several small colored bands and on her left she also had a black wrist band with silver studs along it. With all her accessories in place, she continued her mental check list.
Her black tank top was loose, but snug enough to hug her curves and show off her figure. She stared at the black cargo pants that she wore and was rather happy about them. Though she normally wore a skirt, she didn't like the feeling of grass along her legs. Also, she enjoyed all the pockets cargo pants had. Lastly, she gazed down at her mismatched socks. One was pink and had a cute little skitty all along it while the other was a smoky gray color and had a hounddoom on it. Something about it made her smile, though it was never intentional for her to wear mismatched socks. However, the mates always seemed to disappear when she got socks.

Walking down stairs she glared at her mother who sat in the living room with Skitty next to her on the couch. "Good morning." Her mother greeted, though she didn't look away from the tv. "Its not morning anymore. I was supposed to be up when it was morning. Its afternoon now!" Riza complained as she looked around the kitchen for something quick to fix. She wasn't much of a cook at all, but that was probably due to the fact she didn't like cooking. "There is some breakfast in the microwave." Her mom stated with a sigh. "Oh and so you know, I woke you up several times. It isn't my fault you sleep more then a snorlax."
Riza glared at the back of her mother's head for a moment before looking in the microwave and pulling out the small plate of food. "Either way, I'm going to be late for my journey now...." Her body leaned against the counter while she held her plate with one hand and used her other one for the fork. "Why is Skitty just laying there..." Riza asked in between bites. "Your going to make a house cat out of her!" She added in a growl before setting her plate on the counter behind her.
"Skitty" She called while holding a small piece of bacon. The kitten's ears perked up before she slowly moved to glance at Riza. Seeing as she had food, she jumped up, and ran into the kitchen, meowing with every other step. "Good girl!" She cheered before giving her the piece of bacon.
From the living room, she heard her mother laugh. "Who's going to make a house cat out of her?"

It wasn't long after that Riza was finally ready to go. She stood outside with both her parents, her Skitty, and her backpack filled with some clothes and other essentials. "We are going to miss you." Her mother whispered before moving closer and hugging her tightly. "Be careful and don't go into random buildings." Her father instructed before moving to hug both Riza and her mother who was still hugging her. Riza's father ended the hug and pulled her mother away too. "She will be fine." He whispered before glancing over to Riza and smiling. "Call me everyday. And make sure Skitty doesn't get hurt!" Her mother instructed while holding on to Mr. Williams. Pulling out a small cluster of bills, she handed them to Riza. "Its only 600 but its a start."
Riza sighed and nodded her head after taking the money and putting it in her back pocket. Looking down at Skitty she couldn't help but to smile. "Lets go."
For a second, Riza stood there and looked at the town around her. "I should probably go to the pokemart to get a few things before I head out..." She thought to herself before glancing in the direction of the building. "Ya, that would probably be smart" She added before sighing. "Come on Skitty." She said as she headed toward the building.
Inside, she noticed it was rather crowded. Was everyone leaving today? She sighed as she tried to get past people to look at the price of pokeballs. "Wow, these are expensive...." she muttered before heading down a different isle, trying to find the potions and such. When she finally found them, she realized she wasn't going to be able to get much of anything with the money her mom gave her. "Great..." She thought while picking up one potion. Heading back to the pokeballs, she grabbed one and then headed to the counter to check out.

It took a good while for Riza to simply find the right line. Once she was in it, it took another ten to fifteen minutes just to get to the checkout counter! However, as she waited, she looked at all the people around. Some she had known from the academy, but others seemed to be fresh faces. Lots of people had their pokemon out, riding on their shoulders or standing next to them.

As she moved up in the line a little, she glanced down and smiled at her Skitty. It wasn't at all what she had expected or even wanted. However, it had been a few days since she had received Skitty, and the kitten was proving to be quit nice to have around. She didn't meow too much, and she wasn't too bubbly. She was almost calm, but still had some of her kitten qualities. To be honest, Riza gave her mom some credit for at least finding one that wouldn't be annoying. Overall, she was glad to have Skitty as her partner. Before she knew it, she was finally at the checkout counter.

As she put the new things in her small messenger back, she walked out of the Pokemart. She gave a small sigh of relief. It was nerve-racking to be around so many people and in a crowded area. Suddenly, she realized that it must have been even more irritating for Skitty, since she wasn't very tall at all. "I'm sorry!" She said out loud as she scooped Skitty into her arms and hugged the small kitten pokemon. "Then again, if you were a ghost, you wouldn't have that problem. Now would you?" She whispered before giggling and kissing the top of the purring kittens head. "Skiiii?" The kitten meowed then started purring. "Alright, lets go catch some ghost pokemon!" she cheered before starting to walk towards the other end of town.

While she walked through the town though, she noticed a lot of trainers. Some on their own, others in small groups. As she passed them, she thought about asking where they were going, and if it were the next town, if she could join. However when she saw a guy with Ralts she stopped and tilted her head to the side. He looked almost sad, which is the reason she actually stopped. However, she decided to approach him. Setting Skitty down, she slowly walked over to him and waved slightly. "I'm Riza." She stated then paused for a second. She wasn't sure what she was supposed to say and now wished she would have thought about it more before she approached him. "I'm about to go on a journey and you look like you might be too." She said while keeping her eyes on the ground, obviously nervous. "I was wondering if you might be interested in partnering up?" she finally finished but panicked. "I wont be a bother! I just thought it would be nice to travel with someone." she added quickly before glancing up at him to see his expression.

Jasper Oakheart
Adinitium City - Outskirts of town

Jasper stopped dead in his tracks, making Memory sway on his shoulder. He lifted a hand and subtly wiped the tears from his cheek, making it seem to the approaching girl that he was moving the hair out of his eyes.
"I'm Riza." He turned to her and kept a blank expression on his face. Honestly, he was not expecting what he saw: an average sized girl, maybe 5' 5" or 5' 6", with pink/purple hair wearing a punk outfit. What was most...odd perhaps was the fluffy white and pink Skitty at her side.
"I'm about to go on a journey and you look like you might be too."
"So that's why she's here..."
"I was wondering if you might be interested in partnering up? I wont be a bother! I just thought it would be nice to travel with someone."

She was acting nervously: avoiding eye contact by looking at the ground; speaking quickly and with little control over what she was saying. He wasn't expecting her to be this nervous. Though, in fairness, he was 6' 4" and it always seemed to intimidate people. Her panic filled green eyes were on him. What she had asked finally sunk in.
"Would it be best to travel with someone else? Maybe..." He half smiled.

"Jasper." He considered how to phrase what he was going to say for a second then answered, trying his best not to offend her.
"I suppose I don't really mind going with you but, and I mean no offense by this, but I don't really know you much...so for now...it's just until the next town, okay?" He kept an eye on her expression, looking for any sign that he had offended her.

Ralts tapped his head and whispered in his ear.
"Ral Ralts." He looked up at her and sighed.
"Yes Memory?" He asked her, guessing what she was meaning. Memory pointed to Riza and nodded.
"I figured as much..."
"So...we gonna get this show on the road?" He said before taking a step towards the route out of town.

Riza listened intently and tried to remain still. When she was nervous, Riza had a tendency to fidget and move around a lot, no matter how hard she tried to remain still. This time was no exception. As she stood there, her fingers twitched and she played with the bangles that her fingers could reach. She tried to keep her expression blank, but there was a sad look on her face she couldn't hide as she was sure he would say now.
"I suppose I don't really mind going with you but, and I mean no offense by this, but I don't really know you much...so for now...it's just until the next town, okay?" Suddenly, her face lit up and a smile spread across her face. "Thank you! Thank you so much!" She said in a very happy tone. Even her Skitty jumped with joy and gave a excited meow.
"And don't worry, in the next town, if you don't want me around, I will be gone." She said, trying to be calm. As she stood there, gazing at him, her Skitty rubbed up against her and meowed a few times, as if she were approving. Riza glanced down before picking up Skitty and kissing the top of her head. "This is Skitty.... I haven't thought of a name for her yet though." She explained, feeling a little stupid that she couldn't think of anything even though she had Skitty for about 4 days.

Jasper watched Riza's face light up and shine through the gloominess that had lingered before, like the early morning sun breaking through the clouds to captivate all with it's warm, peaceful glow. Rolling his eyes at her ecstatic smile, Jasper lifted Memory from his shoulder and cradled her in his left arm like a mother or father holding their child close around those they do not know.
"Thank you! Thank you so much!" The Skitty almost jumped into the air and meowed loudly, as if telling all the pokemon in the world that Jasper Oakheart, the 19 years old from Adinitium City, had said yes.
"Now why do I get the feeling that I'm going to regret this...?" He thought to himself, smiling slyly. This did not last long however as the little voice in his head gave him a chastising rebuke that would be inappropriate to show small children.
"And don't worry, in the next town, if you don't want me around, I will be gone." This seemed a little harsh, even to Jasper: to accept her company while travelling along a small area of land only to dump her in another town. It would feel like he was just using her: having Riza there as company so that he wouldn't get lonely. He shook his head and turned to his new companion.

She picked up the fluffy pink and white feline that had been winding itself in between her legs. The trainer gently, lovingly, lifted her up and tenderly kissed the Skitty's head.
"This is Skitty.... I haven't thought of a name for her yet though." Jasper carefully lifted his Ralts slightly higher for Riza to observe.
"This is my pokemon, and friend, Memory. Go on, say hello." His Pokemon's timid nature prevented her from moving from her position, though she did manage an almost unnoticeable wave of her little hand. Sighing, he started to explain.
"I'm really sorry about memory. She's really shy. The first time we met she hid under my couch and only came out when I was asleep. I remember waking up to her sleeping in between my arms. It was really cute."

Jasper let his eyes wander to the path. He gazed into route 4, the next step of their journey, and regretted every getting a pokemon. Although, at the same time, he also was glad that he had a pokemon. Shaking his head he lowered Ralts to the ground. Shoving his hands into his pockets, Jasper began the short walk to the beginning of their new life. He twirled, hands still in his pockets, and grinned.
"Shall we?" Switching back to the right direction, he stopped.

Jasper inhaled deeply, as did Memory, and as one they stepped over the line that they had never crossed before in their life. They were finally in route 4.
"Our destiny awaits..."

Riza smiled at the Ralts named Memory. "Thats a pretty name." she uttered then listened to the story of when Jasper first met her. It was a lot better then the story of when she first met Skitty. "Thats really sweet and I understand. I heard a lot of people are shy." she replied then watched his gaze move from her to Route 4. Her eyes also moved over to the edge of the town and the beginning of the forest.

Her heart began to race a little and she couldn't keep a small smile off her face. Though she loved being home, she had been waiting all her life to go out and see the world! She couldn't wait to see a ghost type pokemon, as well as all the other types there were out there. She wanted to see the world with her own eyes.

Riza's eyes glanced back at Jasper as he set down Memory and shoved his hands into his pockets. He walked ahead a little bit before turning around. "Shall we?" He asked making Riza smile widen a bit. She nodded her head before setting Skitty down gently. "Alright, lets go!" she cheered before walking over to him and the edge of the route. She took a deep breath and stepped out of the city limits and onto the first patch of land that was Route 4. Skitty let out a cheerful meow as she took her first step. "This is the beginning of a great adventure!"

Jasper breathed in the warm mid morning air. There was a divine mist of sweet smelling herbs and flowers enveloping them that was so familiar to Jasper. The mix of scents was heaven to his nostrils.
"Lavender...Marigold..." He inhaled again. "Violets, mint... and... just a hint of thyme I think..." Memory gazed up at him, understanding fully why he knew this. His mother had been quite the gardener. She taught him everything she knew about growing plants, making herbal remedies, cooking with the herbs and of course which plants were poisonous. A few times after he received his first pokemon Ralts had been sitting near him, watching and analyzing him. The majority of the time he was either reading, gardening, mixing herbs together into remedies or painting.

A flash of brown to his left made Jasper look up. Whatever was there had vanished just as quickly as it had appeared.
" I really hate pokemon when they do that..." He shook his head and pushed away all thoughts of being followed.

Jasper took a few more steps down the path and saw another flash of brown to his right this time.
"Memory, come here please." The little Ralts obeyed and stepped towards Jasper until he could lift her.
"It's getting dangerous here Riza. Keep your guard up. What moves does Skitty know anyway? What the-!"

The conversation was halted as a walking acorn stepped out of the grass. Jasper froze...then relaxed.
"A Seedot. Mom told me about these... But what did she say?" Slowly, he reached for his pokedex. It flipped open and analyzed the pokemon.

Seedot, a grass type pokemon.

Seedot attaches itself to a tree branch using the top of its head. It sucks moisture from the tree while hanging off the branch. The more water it drinks, the glossier this Pokémon's body becomes.

Nodding, Jasper put away the pokedex and met the eyes of the Seedot.
"I don't want to hurt you...but I've got no other choice..." He felt his emotions change as he shifted his stance.

"Stay back Riza! I wanna take this one." He said with a devilish smile. His emotions were bubbling over in a dangerous concoction of exhilaration and terror which threatened to send him over the edge any second. The adrenaline was pumping through his body. The speed of his breathing increased rapidly. His heartbeat was erratic.

Finally Jasper lowered Memory to the floor. She took a few wobbly steps towards her opponent, Jasper's out of control emotions overwhelming her, causing her to be somewhat unstable. Jasper closed his eyes, took a deep breath and tried his hardest to tame the wild, raging emotions within his soul. Though it didn't fully reverse the effect, Ralts held herself up better, no longer looking dizzy.

The earthen colored Seedot before pokemon and trainer glared at them defiantly. As quick as lightning the Seedot stepped back, closing its eyes slightly and tightened it's muscles as it used Harden. His eyes practically screamed "I dare you" to Jasper.
"Challenge accepted..."

"Confusion!" Memory put her hands out in front of her and used the psychic move. An invisible wave of psychic energy pulsed from her hands, distorting the image past the air before her as if it were a heat wave radiating from her. The telekinetic force struck the Seedot, causing him to stumble back a step, while the telepathic aspect of this move missed. The confusing part did not affect him and the attack was weaker than it should have been due to Seedot's protective ability.
"This could be bad..."

The little pokemon closed his eyes and started concentrating on something.
"Wait...I remember mom telling me something about them now... Due to their ability Chlorophyll they are faster in sunlight, well that explains a lot, and the first offensive attack they learn is...bide!"
"Oh crap! Growl Memory!" The Ralts looked up at him, clearly confused but obeyed her trainer's order. She inhaled a deep breath, waited for a second and then growl with all her might at her opponent. The sound of it made the seedot jump but he refused to be intimidated by it. At least, not completely intimidated...

The Seedot remained still, waiting fruitlessly for the attack that would never occur. memory growl yet again at her owner's command, the sound ripping from her throat. Finally, the Seedot was ready to rebound the damage that he should have received but he had nothing. He opened his eyes with defeat and started to back away from the trainer and pokemon.
"Oh no you don't! Confusion!" The telekinetic/telepathic blast flowed from her hands and struck the Seedot with a critical hit. The Seedot closed it's eyes as it was lifted slightly off of the ground. Landing with a thud, he opened his eyes. The confused look on his face said it all.

Standing up slowly he looked around and found the pokemon and trainer. Jasper held his breath the grass type decided what to do on unsteady feet. Finally, to Jasper's horror, he hardened his muscles.
"If I hit it again with confusion I'll knock him out... it's better to just let him hurt himself. Memory, Growl." Memory, now understanding Jasper's intentions released a terrifying growl.

Seedot swayed dangerously from side to side. The threat of dropping was high. He tried to take a step forwards but dropped to the ground, hurting himself.
"So that's what a confused pokemon looks like." The Seedot was obviously in pain. He couldn't even get himself to stand up. He was so close to fainting ...

"I hope this works..." Jasper said taking out the pokeball that his mother had bought him. "Help me mom..." Closing his eyes, he steeled himself. Taking a deep breath, hearing nothing but the blood pumping quickly through his body, he opened his eyes and threw the pokeball.

Riza walked carefully behind Jasper as they descended into the route. A small yawn escaped her, but she tried to forced herself to wake up. "I should have had a extra cup of coffee this morning..." she thought to herself while rubbing under her eyes, trying not to mess up her makeup.

When Jasper started mentioning all the different smells around him, she suddenly realized she couldn't tell which ones where which. Honestly, she didn't know that much about the plant life and now she was extra glad she had teamed up with him. Hopefully he could help her out in some way and teach her at least which ones not to get.

"Prew?" Skitty squeaked from a little behind Riza before running up to her, nearly stepping on her. The cat started looking all around the group, first at the left of them, then the right. Riza glanced down at her, a little concerned before moving her attention onto Jasper.
When asked what moves Skitty knew, she started thinking and was about to answer when something stepped out of the grass. Riza gazed at the acorn pokemon for a moment before she heard Japer's pokedex speaking. Her eyes moved onto him as he listened to what information the voice gave. At the end, her eyes moved back onto the pokemon.

When told to stay back, Riza nodded and picked up her Skitty. "Be careful." She whispered under her breath as she took a few steps back away from them.
She watched as everything went down and silently rooted for Jasper and Memory. Even her adrenaline was pumping as she watched the match. The Seedot looked strong, but Jasper was careful. Riza was curious why he kept using growl but towards the end, she was starting to understand. With the pokemon injured, another physical attack might make it faint, unless it lightly hit itself.

Before she knew it, it was all over and the Seedot fell. Skitty made a small purring meow sound as Jasper pulled out a pokeball. "I hope he gets it." She whispered, holding Skitty a little closer to her as they watched the pokeball.

Jasper almost screamed with delight when the pokeball clicked. Fear had been trying it's hardest to take over his body while the pokeball twitched from left to right. The vile creature had gripped him and would not let go. But now, that fear had been expelled from him and he was free.

Jasper picked up the pokeball gently. He brought his lips close and whispered softly.
"I'm so sorry about this..." Slowly, he lowered himself to the ground and released the injured pokemon. Seedot appeared, bathed in white light. As the light dimmed, Jasper saw Seedot's real condition. He had cuts and bruises and looked ready to collapse.

Jasper pulled him close, being careful and not touching his tender areas. Pulling the potion from his bag he silently cursed.
"I knew I should have taken some of those remedies yesterday. I suppose that I could make some out here but I'd need fire, pans and stuff. Fantastic..." He opened the healing spray and let it work it's magic. As the vapor touched the seedot's body, and wound, it winced and pulled away.
"I know it, I know. It stings because it is just cleaning your wound." Jasper said softly. He kept a gently, but strong, hold on the pokemon.
"I did this damage. I should be the one to heal him."

When the healing was done, Seedot looked a lot better. Still weaker than he should have been, but better.Suddenly a nickname appeared before him in his mind.
"Incubus."
"Oh Luna's gonna love me..." His mind wandered to his friend. She had made him promise that if he got a Seedot he would name it incubus. The reason were private to them though, so he doubted he would tell Riza why.
"So Inky, you gonna be ok? Has the pain went away?" The Seedot looked up at him. and nodded, a little unsure of Jasper. Jasper felt a litle offended but accepted it.
"Well, in fairness, I did just get my pokemon to beat the crap out of him, and then I kidnapped him so it makes sense."

Jasper looked up at Riza.
"I've never caught my own pokemon before!" She said with a grin. "It's actually really fun!" He stood up and returned to pokemon to his pokeball. The red light shot from the pokeball and struck the pokemon, converting him to energy to be stored within the Pokeball.
"I hate these things. It's pretty much just a prison. The only difference is that We're asking them to fight."

Jasper looked into his bag and cursed aloud this time.
"I'm out of pokeballs and potions. Oh, and I forgot my herb box. Do you mind if I run back and get them Riza? I'll be fast, I promise. I live five minutes from the store anyway and we haven't been walking long." He really wanted to get back for a potion and pokeball. Also, he enjoyed the occasional herbal tea and with what was around him he could easily make some. He just needed to store some herbs and berries.

As Jasper's pokeball twitched back and forth, Riza silently prayed it wouldn't pop out. She had heard of several cases in class, where a pokemon would pop out of a pokeball and then that pokeball was useless. Suddenly, the pokeball stopped, making Riza stare at it. A small click came from the ball, a sign the pokemon had been caught.

"Yes!" Riza cheered, though it was very soft compared to the cheer Jasper had let out. However, before she knew it, Jasper was kneeling down with the Seedot out of its pokeball. At first, she wasn't sure what he was doing, but then she got a good look at the pokemon. "oh..." She whispered then watched as he used a potion and healed the pokemon.

When he was done, she felt a small surge of excitement as it would soon be her turn to catch a pokemon. She wondered what it would be. Hopefully it wouldn't be a Seedot too. Though they were nice pokemon, it wasn't exactly her 'type'. Then again, her type didn't really include a Skitty, and yet she had one.

The sudden cursing from Jasper pulled her from her daydreaming though. Before she could ask what it was, he was already asking her if they could go back into town. She felt a small amount of disappointment before nodding her head and forcing a smile. "Sure. I don't mind." She replied while telling herself that it would be better to go back anyways. It would be a great chance for him to teach her about herbs and which ones to mix. "Hey, do you think you can show me what herbs are what and which ones to mix? At least the basics?" she asked, in a very hopeful tone.

Jasper watched her face turn from joyful to disappointed. He felt bad asking her to return after they had just left but he didn't want to have to come back over a longer distance to get these when he needed them later.

Her next question came as a shock. He had never been asked by anyone before. His friends had always teased him about his "herb phase" as they liked to put it. They rarely even used his remedies. While the remedies did work, it was a pride thing.
"I suppose a few basics wouldn't hurt...but it'll take years to learn everything. I know some but not a lot and I've been working with my mom for years..." He put everything into his bag and picked up Memory before starting back towards town. He walked slightly quicker so that they could get his things and get back before it got dark, though Jasper would love to sleep outside at night.
"Well...there are many different ways that a herbal remedy can be used: infusions, decoctions, salves, tinctures, ointments. The easiest and most basic of these would probably be the infusion. It's just steeping herbs in hot water. But you have to be careful with herbalism because the chemicals within these plants are what react with the body and aid in in healing. But, there are some that are dangerous in large or even moderate doses. Or that are poisonous if taken orally. People can be allergic or it can interfere with another medication you are taking and become dangerous. You have to be very careful which is why I've only tried to remember ones that can aid my pokemon but not do any more damage." He looked at Riza and smiled.
"I hope I'm not giving her too much to start with..."

He remembered the first time his mother had him make an infusion. It was a very basic one, just a passion flower tea to help you sleep. She was so happy with him that she had made him his favorite cake. Being 9, and loving cake as much has he did, he devoured the lot. From that day he had been making them when he could (which wasn't often) or tending to his own herb garden.

His train of thought was broken when the pokemart came into sight. He turned to Riza and smiled apologetically.
"I don't want you to be waiting in there bored while I get these so I'll be two seconds. Could you keep an eye on Ralts for me?" He lowered Memory to the ground then straightened and apologized again before turning and sprinting to the shop. Luckily, he really was fast.

Entering the building, he nodded to the people behind the counter and moved straight to the pokeballs, removing one from the shelf. His next stop was the potions. Extracting one he turned and caught sight of the terror he had faced earlier. The symptoms hit again but he closed his eyes and pushed them away.
"I hate clowns!"

After paying for the items, Jasper ran back to the group of three.
"That's everything I need from the shop. My house?" He asked, still feeling bad for making her trek back to town.

Riza walked a little behind Jasper but listened as he spoke. She tried to absorb all the information, however she wished she had been able to take notes. Then again, even if she had a notepad and pen, she was never really good a writing and walking. When she had tried it in school, the outcome had never been good.

"Ok, so I think for now I will just try infusion..." She thought to herself before glancing at him. She forced a smile, one that would show she was thankful. As they continued to walk, Riza wondered what would be the first thing she made? From there, she wondered what it takes to make things for healing.

As they made it into town Riza looked to Jasper to see what the plan was, but he was already lowing Memory. "Sure I will watch her." She replied, honestly surprised that he would ask. No one had ever asked her to watch their pokemon, however she was honored that he did. She glanced down at the Ralts and smiled at her, wondering if it was weird for her, or how she felt about being left.

Before she knew it, Jasper was back from the Pokemart. "Wow, that was fast." She thought to herself before giving a small wave. When he mentioned going to his house a sudden surge of anxiety hit her. She had forgot her 'phobia' of other peoples parents. However she took a breath and told herself they wouldn't see his parents, they would be in a garden or something. Her fingers began to twitch a little and the hair on the back of her neck stood up, despite her trying to calm herself.

"Calm down..." She told herself before forcing a smile. "Sure lets go." She replied to him then glanced around, wondering which house was his.

Riza stood there, her heart still racing at the thought of his house and his parents. They would probably think the same thing about her as most other parents did, which wasn't a good thing. They judged her by the amount of money her parents didn't have or simply by the way she dressed.

When Jasper spoke, it caught her attention, making her take a deep breath and look at him. As he spoke, she started to calm down while trying to soak up all the information he gave about herbs. "Ya, that makes sense." She stated, thinking something like that probably would have ended up happening if she had tried to make anything without Jasper's help.

She glanced down at Skitty, who had fallen asleep, and gave a small chuckle. She couldn't help but to wonder how long she had been sleep. Hopefully, she couldn't end up like her mom's house cat and just sleep all day.

Again, Jasper's voice pulled her away from her thoughts. She looked to Jasper when he threw his arm up in the air and noticed Memory slightly moving so she didn't fall. Riza gave a small giggle before her eyes fallowed Jasper's gaze to the person he was calling.
"I'm really sorry. I'm just going to say a quick hi. I've not seen him in a while. You can come and meet him if you want."
Riza thought about it as she watched him run off. She didn't mind meeting new people, so she slowly walked over fallowing him. As they made it over to Sora, Riza made a small smile as she looked at the guy.

While standing around, waiting for some kind of sign about what to do, Sora quickly started to get quite bored. He had been waiting for this day for a number of years, and yet, here he was standing around letting his first day go by. He was upset with himself, because it was difficult for him to keep lasting friends, due to his temper. The only long-term friend he had had in a while was a guy in the Academy, called Jasper. However, due to them wanting to take different routes of learning, didn't really keep hanging out all that much.

I wish Jasper wa-

Sora was cut abruptly from his thoughts by a vaguely familiar shout. Turning, he seen an arm extended, waving. Searching his brain as quickly as he could, Sora picked out the most outstanding of all of the boy's features, that was the mop that he occasionally referred to as hair. After he pinned down that feature, the rest fell into place.

Speak of the devil...

He returned the wave, then began his walk over to him and the girl he was with. It was now that he realised that his Pokémon had drifted off to sleep while waiting, but had positioned himself in a way that meant he wouldn't fall from Sora's shoulder without any sudden movements. On his way over, Sora found himself slightly flabbergasted by how that was possible, but tried not to think too hard, this early at least.

Once he was over by the two, he greeted them and said, "Lucky you caught me, I was just heading out." It was a bare-faced lie, but what they didn't know, they wouldn't make fun of him for...

As Sora approached them, Jasper almost laughed aloud. The sleeping pokemon upon Sora's shoulder was exactly what Jasper would expect from his old school friend. Sora had always had as lazy streak within him that would manifest fully at the most inconvenient times. Like before class tests. though, he always seemed to pull through rather well...

Thinking back, Jasper was a little annoyed with himself for how they had parted. While Sora was wanting to become a trainer, Jasper had taken the path of Coordinator. After their decisions, they pair drifted apart from each other. Contact was rare, and finally it just stopped. After knowing each other for three, or for years, their bond was severed.

Jasper shook his head in a fruitless attempt to clear his mind of those memories and brought his focus back to the present.
"Lucky you caught me, I was just heading out." Jasper searched Sora's appearance and found a few things that proved what Sora said wrong.
"Slight bed head...tired eyes...drooping shoulders...scruffy clothes..."
"My ass you were just leaving! You're just up!" He chuckled loudly.
"So, how have you been? We haven't seen each other for...has to be at least two years now."

Memory leaned forwards gently and then pulled back a slightly. She had never met Sora so was unsure of him. And the anger thing probably wouldn't help... Jasper lifted her from his shoulders and held her in his arms.
"This is Memory, my pokemon, and friend." He smiled down to her and she returned it happily. He pulled out Seedot's pokeball and released him.
"And this is Incubus, or Inky for short." He smiled down at the little grass type and returned him to his pokeball.

Suddenly remembering Riza, and mentally slapping himself for forgetting she was right beside him, he introduced his old friend with his new friend.
"Uh, sorry for being so rude. I should have introduced you two in the beginning. Riza, Sora. Sora, Riza." looking to Sora, he explained his relationship with the boy. "We were friends back in the academy. But when we chose what we wanted to do, we both picked different things and kinda drifted apart." Now turning to Sora, he explained his connection to Riza.
"Riza and I are travelling to the next town together. Do have anyone to travel with yet?" He asked with hope in his heart. He really wanted to re-establish his friendship with Sora. Plus he needed someone to willingly test his herbal mixtures.

Riza slowly walked behind Jasper and watched as Sora approached them as well. She noticed first the pokemon sleeping on his shoulder, which made her give a small giggle. Was she going to be the only one who didn't put her pokemon on her shoulder? Her eyes moved down to her sleeping Skitty. At the moment, she was rather glad the kitten was asleep in her arm and not on her shoulders. Then again, the kitten would use claws when she felt on stable, which would be very bad for Riza.

Riza then moved her attention to the two guys when she heard Jasper."My ass you were just leaving! You're just up!" She couldn't help but to giggle again, seeing as the statement was very true. He looked as if he had just woke up, jumped out of bed, and headed out.

As the two continued to talk, Jasper finally noticed he hadn't introduced the two of them. However he then explained that they were simply traveling buddies. "Hey. Nice to meet you." She muttered when there was a brief pause. She was rather glad that Jasper explained things and she didn't have to.

Riza watched Sora, as he stood there with a tired expression. It made her glad that she had actually got a lot of sleep, even though she did over sleep. Too much sleep was better then no sleep..right?

When Sora talked about Riza being a guinea pig, her right brow raised as she glanced over to Jasper before a smile formed on her face. She couldn't help but to wonder how good he actually was or how much of herbology was actually trial and error. However, her thoughts moved to the next statement. She gave a warm smile to Jasper, who asked if she minded. "I don't mind." She replied with the same smile. "Maybe I can get him to be my guinea pig too." She thought to herself with a small mental laugh before she heard someone yell from a few feet away.

She turned around and gazed at the woman before her eyes went wide. "Thats probably Jasper's mom!" Her mind screamed, only to have Jasper conclude that she was right. She took a deep breath and tried not to fidget too much as she stood there. Her eyes seemed to dart everywhere before settling on her Skitty.

As his mother made her way over to the small group, Riza bit her bottom lip slightly, trying to remain composed. Slowly, her eyes drifted to his mother, whom she forced a smile for when she looked back at the girl.

"You can introduce me to your friend when we get back to the house. Forward march!" His mother demanded before turning around.
As his mother turned to walk towards the house, Riza began to panic. "Jasper, I'm really sorry but I don't think I should.." She stated a little too fast. It would be obvious she was nervous. "I can wait outside." She offered before biting her bottom lip again.

Riza continued to bite her bottom lip until her nerves nearly gave out. She took a deep breath then shook her head. "I'm sorry, but I can't go." She mumbled before taking off running, waking the sleeping Skitty in her arms. The kitten gazed at her with a sleepy and confused look before yawning slightly. She ran to the edge of town onto Route 4. There she finally stopped running and took another deep breath. "I should feel bad..." She told herself, thought she was already feeling bad. "What kind of freak is scared of people's parents?" She wondered while rolling her eyes. Though she wasn't paying attention, her feet were still moving. Her eyes stared at the ground before her, though she on some sort of human auto pilot.

Riza had walked a good bit on the route before realizing how late it was. "Well this is unfortunate." She muttered before gazing at her skitty, who had been walking beside her most of the way. "I guess we will just have to camp or something tonight." She added as she sat under a tree. "We better not get attacked on my first night." She thought while sitting down and leaning her back against a tree. Skitty gave a small yawn before curling up into a ball beside Riza.

"Skitty, tackle!" Riza instructed but the pidgey flew high in the sky. "You wont win with such a stupid pokemon!" The male trainer she was battling laughed while pointing at skitty.
"Meow?" The skitty tilted her head before running over to Riza. The girl looked down at her pokemon, who now looked like nothing more then a house cat. "Your kidding..." Riza gasped before glancing at the trainer and his pidgey.
"See, you should have stuck with ghost pokemon! Your just a failure!"
Riza shook her head while bitting her bottom lip. "Fail-ure" Her skitty said slowly before moving her eyes onto Riza. "Failure." The kitten repeated before the trainer and his pidgey chimed in. "Failure, failure"

"I'm not a failure!" She screamed while jerking awake. She was breathing hard and small beads of sweat were clustered on her forhead. Standing a few feet away was a small pidgey, who simply gazed at her. "Get out of here." She growled before moving to her feet. "Come on Skitty." She said, nudging the pokemon lightly to wake her. The kitten opened its eyes slightly before stretching for a moment. From the looks of it, her skitty had slept perfectly fine.

Grabbing her small bag that she had set on the ground beside her, she started walking through the woods. "I'm suprised we haven't run into any pokemon yet." She stated, glancing down at her skitty as she walked through some tall grass.
As she waded through the grass, she finally noticed a small rest stop. "Oh, thats nice." She mumbled then knocked on the door and walked inside.
