Description

Description: Miki is a beautiful young woman who was raised in a very traditional family, thus her mannerisms and body language all reflect her upbringing to a T. She walks with her back straight and her head held high. She has medium length black hair kept tied in a ponytail which, if let down, would fall to just past her shoulders. She has a cute straight nose, perfectly proportioned and naturally pink lips, deep chocolate brown eyes, and gently arched eyebrows. Miki can often be seen wearing traditional clothing around her home such as a kimono as she takes pride in her heritage and enjoys the feeling of elegance that comes with it. When prepared to travel, she usually wears the more casual Yukata clothing to retain the elegance but allow more freedom of movement. Occasionally she will change to more casual clothing such as a mid length skirt, collared v-neck shirt, sandals, and perhaps a hat as well if it’s hot enough outside.

Miki’s body is well proportioned and she was somewhat blessed in her features. She stands fairly tall for her heritage and has an ample chest whereas both her mother and sister have much smaller assets. Her body ratio is somewhere around 45:55 upper to lower, which is somewhat rare for her heritage which is usually the opposite. She has long athletic legs from her years of dance and martial arts training which lead up to a taught round posterior. A flat and firm though still soft abdominal region allow her to looks like a powerful athlete while retaining all of the femininity she is known for. And the rest of her body is well muscled to suit her needs though it is all covered by a soft layer of skin. But make no mistake she is anything but the delicate flower she appears to be.

Weight: 125 lb. (56.6 kg)

Body Type: Mesomorph

Starting Pokémon: Charmander - “Blaze” (Colored)

Blaze

Image

Information: Blaze was raised by Professor Leingod in the professor’s laboratory all of his life. He is adventurous and naturally inquisitive. He also has a big heart and is eager to meet with and bond with his new Trainer-to-be, Miki Saegusa. He has learned much about Miki from the professor in preparation for their meeting, and Blaze is very excited.

In combat he tends to be a bit of a hard head and can sometimes be too eager to press his attack. While he’s not by any means a slouch, he’s not exactly a heavy hitter. His height is average for a Charmander at 2’ even, but he is still young and growing. What he lacks in physical power he makes up for with creativity and fast reaction times.

Starting Techniques: Scratch, Bite, Leer, Ember

Legendary Pokémon: Lugia

Image

Information: Despite the fact that he shares his type with that of the Flying element, Lugia is bar none the most powerful Psychic Pokemon in existence. His power is so great that he chooses to isolate himself deep beneath the sea for fear of his power running amok and causing untold damage to the environment around him as well as to other lifeforms, both human and Pokemon alike.

Lugia is a fierce and unfathomably aggressive combatant who utilizes his agility and toughness to their fullest to overwhelm his opponents. His past is a mystery, but that hasn’t stopped Team Rocket from trying to uncover his whereabouts for the purpose of capturing him and utilizing his power for their own gains. Like the other Legendary Pokemon, he is highly sought after by both criminal and would-be conquering Trainers alike. To date no Trainer has found his sanctuary beneath the sea, but nothing lasts forever. The only question is whether a Trainer will find him first, or if Team Rocket will.

Known Techniques: Aeroblast, Psychic, Calm Mind, Recover, Hydro Pump, Ancient Power, Sky Attack, Dragon Rush, Dragon Pulse, Zen Headbutt, Safeguard, Ice Beam, Blizzard, Hyper Beam, Thunder, Earthquake, Aerial Ace, Dive, Whirlpool.

Personality: Miki is a traditional beauty in every sense of the phrase. She is maternal, compassionate, understanding, humble, and honorable to a fault. Though she may be a bit naive at first glance, she is anything but. She has a strong understanding of the world and how things are meant to be as well as her place in the grand scheme of things, and she accepts her faults and weaknesses and makes active attempts to improve herself on a daily basis. That’s another of her finer traits is her thirst for knowledge and the betterment of herself and she turns every experience, be it good or bad, into a learning experience from which she grows as a human being. She complements this thirst for knowledge with a powerful curiosity which drives most of what she does and who she is. The curiosity is slightly offset by a strong sense of caution, but usually curiosity wins through.

Miki’s less refined personality traits are her emotional responses and her eagerness to prove herself. Sometimes the latter can be a strength, but with Miki it is most definitely a weakness. She can be very emotional depending on the circumstances which has proven itself to be somewhat troublesome for both Miki and those she was with at the time. One particular instance of this reality was at her grandmother’s funeral after she died of small cell lung cancer where Miki approached the casket to deliver a rose and collapsed against it weeping bitterly and resisting those who tried to help her stand and move away. Indeed she can be very emotional which can throw her usually calm and in control personality into turmoil and destroy the integrity of her character, even if only for a limited time. She is quick to regain control of herself and apologize for any negative responses, but sometime’s Miki’s unfiltered responses can go beyond simple forgiveness. But Miki never gives up on retaining friendships and relationships, and will go to great lengths to repair them when and if they are damaged.

Strengths:

* Confident
* Knowledgeable abut the world
* Athletic
* Compassionate
* Compromising
* Good listener

Weaknesses:

* Compassionate
* Emotional
* Eager to prove herself
* No knowledge of Pokémon

Biography: Miki Saegusa was born on September 28, 1996 to Ichiro and Margaret Saegusa. Ichiro was born and raised in the Johto region and moved to the Kanto region to begin his own Pokémon journey when he was younger. During the course of his adventure he met Margaret, a Vermillion City born and raised Pokémon Trainer who challenged him to a battle almost the moment he arrived. After their battle, which Ichiro just barely managed to win, the two made an agreement to remain in contact so that they may battle again in the future when they both got better. Over two years passed with Ichiro collecting the 8 Kanto Gym Badges and making his way to the Pokémon League. While there, he met Margaret once more as a Trainer and battled her for the right to challenge the Pokémon League. Against all expectations, Margaret prevailed and Ichiro had to step down while she entered Indigo Plateau to battle the Elite Four and the reigning Pokémon League Champion. Margaret was unable to conquer the League, being defeated on the third member of the Elite Four and asked to leave. She returned to the entrance and wished Ichiro luck in his own battle. Ichiro fought hard, but he too failed to get passed the third member of the Elite Four.

When Ichiro returned to the entrance of Indigo Plateau, he found Margaret waiting for him with a warm smile. The two went out to dinner that night and talked about their experience battling the Elite Four and how difficult it was. The two discovered more in common than they’d previously believed existed, and a subtle but powerful romance began to blossom. Before long the two were engaged and married one year later not long after Margaret’s 21st birthday. Their first child was a healthy baby boy named Ken who became their pride and joy. He was a lively son and a curious mind who investigated many things around him which got him into a touch of trouble with some local Pokémon on a few occasions. He had a Pidgey use Sand-Attack on him when he was 9 months old, and a Caterpie gave him a soft Tackle attack as a warning to stay away when he was 15 months old. However Ken was never deterred and didn’t stay down for long before going right back to his exploring. Initially Ichiro and Margaret decided to only have a single child, but Margaret fell pregnant once more when Ken was 20 months old and Miki was born.

A strong and vibrant child like her brother, she stole her parent’s hearts straight away. Even though they hadn’t planned on her birth and were considering giving her up for adoption at first, they quickly changed their minds. Miki proved to be an intelligent and curious child and, like her brother, had her share of mishaps with local wild Pokémon though they usually didn’t end as severely as her brother’s experiences had been. Early on Ichiro decided that she would be raised traditionally with the full expectation of becoming a bride. This resulted in a rather heated debate with Margaret who wanted Miki to grow as she would, and it became the couple’s first hurdle. Thankfully they compromised by allowing Miki the freedom to explore and become her own woman while still raising her in a fairly traditional manner. She was taught proper etiquette, manners, a love of the arts such as song, dance and martial arts, and also to value her education and future before all other elements of her life. It was not exactly what Margaret had wanted, but it was a start. Eventually Miki would grow old enough to make her own decisions about her life anyway, but for Margaret it seemed a long way off.

As Miki grew she developed a true and devoted love of the arts. Singing, dancing, and martial arts all became the focal point of her life outside of her lessons at home. Alongside her learning to cook, clean, sew, and prepare herself for life as a bride someday she took to the arts with great enthusiasm earning a black belt in Karate at the age of 9 as a star pupil of her dojo. She also took to singing where she earned a gold medal in a local talent contest when she was 8, and took 1st place in a dance competition when she was 11. She was proving to be more talented and well rounded than her parents had imagined, and when she was 14 years old her father finally stepped down and allowed Miki to full realize her potential in her own way much to Margaret’s delight. Miki’s curiosity and desire to experiment culminated in her discovering a love of Pokémon which would, in her not too distant future, lead to her choice to become a Pokémon Trainer. Miki’s talents continued to develop into her late teens and, after graduating with honors from high school, she decided to move from the family’s home in Johto to a property they also owned in Pallet Town in Kanto.

It is here where Miki finds herself today. Over the last several years she has been in contact with the local Pokémon Professor, Professor Leingod, about becoming a Trainer and he has helped prepare her for this day. She is to receive her first Pokémon and begin her journey very soon alongside several others from near and far who will enter the world of Pokémon with her.

So begins...

The rays of dawn peeked through the blinds of her bedroom window very slowly in tandem with the rising sun. Inch by inch the rays of light crept closer and closer until at last they fell across her eyes causing her to squint and turn her head away from the source.

”Mmm… She mumbled.

She pulled the covers over her head a bit farther but then realized what day it was and threw the covers off of herself and leaped out of bed. Once on her feet she dashed to the bathroom, threw her clothing off, and jumped in the shower. The morning had only just broken and yet she was fully alert and ready for what lay ahead.

After her shower she ran to her room to dress herself before rushing to the kitchen to make herself breakfast. Even in her rush she didn’t neglect the most important meal of the day. When finished with her meal she washed her dishes as best she could and put them in the dishwasher. Today she would be leaving on her journey with her new Pokémon, Charmander. She was so excited she could hardly contain herself.

Being the meticulous type she checked herself numerous times to ensure she was dressed appropriately, checked her supplies in her pack, checked her snacks and food items, checked her watch, checked her home, and finally made her way outside. Closing and locking the door, she put the key in her pocket and made her way towards one of the neighbors houses. They had agreed to watch her house for her and clean it twice per month in her absence which was most gracious of them. After delivering the key she bowed to them before making her way towards the professor’s lab.

As she came up to the doors, she paused and took a deep breath. She did one last check to make sure she was presentable before knocking on the doors. After a few second she heard a response from inside.

”Coming!”

The door opened to reveal one of the professor’s aides.

“Ah, you must be miss Saegusa. Please, come in. The professor is in the back and is expecting you.” He said.

Miki bowed with a genuinely warm smile and entered the establishment.

It was truly a marvel. All around her were machines who’s purposes she could only imagine. The professor’s aides were everywhere performing experiments, research, working on their computers doing who knew what, and more. There were Pokémon all around as well helping out which was quite heart warming.

Finally in the back of the lab the professor was waiting for her. He had a clipboard in hand and was seemingly in conversation with a slightly off colored Charmander. As Miki approached she waited silently and patiently for their conversation to end.

“Yes, yes. She’ll be here any minute. Just calm down!” The professor laughed.

The little Charmander pointed at Miki excitedly and hopped up and down a few times as the professor turned around.

“Oh! Miss Saegusa! I didn’t realize you’d arrived already!” He said with a somewhat sheepish laugh.

“Please forgive my rudeness. Come on over here and meet your new companion!” He said happily.

Miki bowed to him and approached with a near ear to ear smile as she looked at the spunky little Charmander hopping up and down on the professor’s desk.

“This is Charmander. As you can see his color is a bit off from the images you may have seen in magazines or on the television. This is a rare genetic mutation, but otherwise he is the same as any other Charmander you’d encounter. I hope you don’t mind.” He said as he patted the Charmander on the head.

Miki chuckled.

”On the contrary professor, I think it’s quite charming.” She said as she approached the desk.

The little Charmander continued to hop up and down excitedly as she approached and finally jumped off the desk and into her arms with a happy cry.

”He certainly is spirited, isn’t he?” She said while struggling to hold him still.

“That he is. This little one has been raised here his whole life and is eager to see the outside world. That and he was excited to see you too. I’ve told him a lot about what I know of you and he’s already quite fond of you, as you see.” He remarked as the Charmander nuzzled her chest.

Miki blushed slightly with a giggle as she rubbed his head. But after a moment she felt her hand burning and had to remove it.

“Oh, yes. I should warn you that as a Fire type Pokémon Charmander’s skin and average body temperature is much warmer than that of a human. His internal body temperature on a good day is around 112 degrees Fahrenheit, and his skin regularly reaches 88-95 degrees Fahrenheit. I can understand the desire to make contact, but you should be careful when using bare skin to make said contact. His outer temperature rises the faster his heart beats after all.”

Miki nodded.

”Thank you for the information professor. Is there anything else I should know about him?” She asked.

“Oh there is much to learn about this one, but I will leave that for you to discover over time. Now, do you remember what we discussed regarding his techniques?”

Miki nodded.

”He knows Scratch, Leer, Bite, and Ember.” She replied.

“That’s correct. If you want him to learn new techniques you’re going to have to help him out by using him in battles so that he can see new techniques that he’s capable of learning, or teach him techniques directly during your time together. This little one is a fast learner, so you should have no troubles if you go the second route.”

Miki set Charmander down and bowed to the professor.

”Thank you very much professor!” She said earnestly.

“Oh by the way. Would you like to give him a name? It’s not required, but I have found through my own studies that Pokémon with names often bond with their Trainers much faster than those without names.”

Miki was in awe, but was eager to satisfy the thought of bonding with Charmander more quickly.

”Hmm…….. I have a name. I’ll call you ‘Blaze.’ How does that sound?” She asked.

Blaze gave a single hop and a cry of happiness before running a circle around her legs much to Miki’s delight.

“very well then. Here you are miss Saegusa. These are Poké Balls. They’re the basic unit of Pokémon storage and transportation. Use these on Pokémon you have weakened in battle and you will have the chance to capture them. But always remember that it’s never a guarantee. A healthy Pokémon can still escape from a Poké Ball rather easily if it is that desperate to get away. You must be cautious and use careful timing to capture a Pokémon.” He said as he handed her a total of 6 Poké Balls.

“Also, this device is called a Pokédex. I believe we discussed this over the phone, but as a reminder it’s something of an electronic encyclopedia which will scan a Pokémon if pointed at it and provide you with information regarding its type, habitat, and tendencies as a species. But remember that this will not always be accurate. Pokémon are individuals too, as are we all. So use caution as the information may not be 100% accurate. We’re still learning about Pokémon every day and are constantly updating the Pokédex with new information to account for our discoveries. Be sure to visit a Pokémon Center every so often and ask about a Pokédex update.”

Miki accepted the Pokédex and placed it in her pocket. Once again, she bowed to the professor and thanked him for his kindness before leaving the laboratory with her new partner Blaze by her side. Stepping outside she scooped him up in her arms and kissed his nose, a gesture which was returned with a lick across her lower jaw which earned Blaze a giggle from her.

”Well Blaze, it looks like it’s just you and me now! I can’t wait to see what the world has in store for the two of us!” She said excitedly.

Blaze cried happily a few times in her arms before she set him down and began walking down the main road out of Pallet Town.

Their journey had only just begun, and already she was learning so much and growing more and more excited about what adventures lay ahead for the two of them.

It was quiet as usual at the Aikayama household. Yuu was sitting in the living room, watching the clock nervously as it neared the time of her departure. Her older brother Tomoya was the only other family member who would be visiting the professor that day, but only out of curiosity. He wanted to know what Pokemon his sister had decided to get. In all actuality, he was a little worried. He was the one paying the expenses of Yuu's flight to Pallet Town and everything else. The rest of the family refused to do so. Once the time was right, he entered the living room to meet his sister.

"Are you ready to go?"

Yuu Aikayama arrived very early that morning, and she and her Fennekin had only been with each other for three and a half days. At first, it was quite nerve racking. The professor had warned her that this Fennekin was timid and easily frightened. The thing they somehow forgot to mention was that it wasn't afraid to bite or burn whoever it felt threatened by. Not even a week they had been together, and she already had a bandage wrapped around the calf of her right leg under her pants, and a few band-aids up one of her arms. She had earned some nips from her new companion.

Yuu wouldn't deny it, this was thrilling. She was on her own for the next six or so months, and she had the whole Kanto region to explore to her heart's content. But after a while, the Fennekin had warmed up to Yuu enough to let her hold him. He would follow her, too, knowing that she was responsible for him now. The pair sat in a patch of grass near the edge of town underneath a shady tree. Yuu sat with her back against the trunk, and Fennekin was lying next to her as she stroked the warm fur on his back. He wasn't as skittish that day, and it was quite nice. He even gave her fingers a little lick when they exited the air port.

Yuu was planning on taking a trip down Route 1 to see what she could learn and discover. But she just wasn't sure how she was going to make the trip. She definitely didn't want to go alone, it would be lonely and she was certain she would get lost somehow. She contemplated this for a while, unaware that her Fennekin had in fact, gotten up, and wandered out of Pallet Town as it trailed behind a young woman and her Charmander.

When Yuu finally broke from her thoughts, she looked down, and her hand wasn't petting the fur of her Fennekin; it was stroking the grass. She let out a confused yelp and shot up, looking around frantically from where she was standing. Not even a week with her Pokemon, and she already lost it? This was a good start gone bad. She picked up her backpack from the ground and secured it over her shoulders. "Fennekin!" she called out. She walked away from her previous resting spot and looked at her surroundings. "Oh, how could I be so irresponsible?" she asked herself in a sort of self-scolding manner.

She walked a little ways into town not far from where she once sat, finding no sign of him. How could she have just let him wander off like that? She then looked behind her at the main road that traveled out of town. Her stomach fluttered with worry, and she gulped. Did he wander away down that road? She had to know. So she quickly jogged down to the beginning of the path and down the road. She could hear his small noises a little ways down the road. It had to be her Fennekin. She focused on getting to him. When she rounded a corner that was lined with foliage, she spotted Fennekin prancing along side a happy looking Charmander. That was strange. But they were not alone. There was a young woman who was walking as well. She didn't seem to be very threatening. Yuu gulped again and decided to retrieve her Fennekin.

She strolled after them, making sure to keep her distance in case she cause trouble. "Fennekin," she called out softly. "Come here." She held out her hand and motioned the animal over. He stopped and looked back at her with curious eyes. "Come here, Fennekin," she said calmly. "Don't bother them, okay?"

The little fox looked back at the Charmander and then he trotted over to her, plopping down at her feet and batting at her shoe with his paw. "Don't run off like that again, okay?" she said while looking down at her companion. "I don't want to have you running off to the point of no return..."

She carefully scooped him up, careful not to touch his ticklish area (as she had made a mistake of doing in the past). He growled a little in disapproval but soon accepted her actions. Yuu looked back at the girl and her Charmander. "S-Sorry about that," she said, giving a nervous smile. "I guess he likes you Charmander."

Miki and Blaze were walking briskly down the path when she noticed the sound of tiny footsteps behind them. She turned her head just slightly and saw that there was a little orange fox-like Pokémon behind them. She hadn't seen it before and didn't know what its name was, but given the way it was following Blaze and looking at him like he was already a friend made her smile. It was rather adorable. But very soon she heard someone call to it.

"Fennekin, come here." Came a voice behind her.

When Miki turned she saw a young girl with short brown hair, brown eyes, and black rimmed glasses following the Fennekin and calling to it. She was wearing a t-shirt and jeans and a pair of brown flats, and she looked rather pleasant though a bit timid. She was calling softly to the Fennekin as if she was worried about disturbing Miki and Blaze. It was rather cute.

"S-Sorry about that. I guess he likes your Charmander." The girl said.

Miki nodded.

"It would seem so." She said with a chuckle.

"And there's no need to apologize. Your Fennekin seemed like it just wanted to have fun so there's no harm done here." She said.

She turned to face the girl and have a light bow.

'I'm Miki. Miki Saegusa. It's nice to meet you." She said pleasantly with a warm smile.

Blaze looked at Miki and noticed her bow, and he turned to the girl and Fennekin and gave a similar looking though slightly more clumsy bow to mimic his Trainer's behavior.

Yuu smiled, a little more comfortable. "My name is Yuu Aikayama. It's nice to meet you too," she replied. Her Fennekin squirmed around in her arms indicating that he wanted her to put him down. She did so, and he sat next to her and began to scratch behind one of his ears. "So, if you don't mind me asking, where are you headed?" Yuu asked. "I just arrived in Pallet Town a few hours ago. I'm planning on heading to..." she looked up and scratched the back of her neck as she tried to remember which town this route lead to. "Viridian city," she finally said,"and if I'm not mistaken, Route one leads there, right?"

Fennekin stood up again and shook himself off and then he blinked a few times. He then trotted around the small area they were in and sniffed through some grass and bushes, exploring a bit more. He seemed more interested in his surroundings than he usually did- it was probably because they were out in the open. He trotted back over to the Charmander and gave a high pitched yip. Yuu looked at him, and he was bouncing up and down around the Charmander once again. She tilted her head, confused as to why her Fennekin was acting this way. He didn't seem as energetic when they arrived.

Miki smiled.

"It's a pleasure, miss Aikayama." She said with another small bow.

She watched the Fennekin for a moment but quickly returned her gaze to Yuu when she asked about where Route 1 lead.

"That's correct. Route 1 is a direct Route to Viridian City. Moving on foot I'd estimate our course to take approximately a month or so if we stick to the main road. There are a few side routes which can be taken along the way which may extend the trip, but the upside is there would be a few interesting places to visit."

Miki knelt down and removed a map from her travel pack. It was a map of the area encompassing Pallet, Route 1, Viridian City, and a bit of Route 2 before being cut off at the top.

"Here. Come see," Miki offered as she held the map for Yuu to be able to see.

"Taking the main road up about a week or so from here we could veer left at this junction and head to the town of Springleaf. It's well known for its floral decor and for their abundance of Grass type Pokémon. But it's just an option. I myself was thinking of following that path as I've been wanting to see it for some time now. But ultimately whether you want to go to Viridian City straight away or not is up to you."

Miki folded the map and put it away as she stood back up to brush herself off.

"If you'd like some company on the road for a while I'd be glad to go with you. I was born and raised in Johto but have lived here in Pallet Town for around the last 2 years or so since I finished high school and I know the general area until Viridian rather well. So what do you say?" She asked happily.

Yuu observed the map as Miki explained it to her. "I see," she said. "I wouldn't mind a bit of sight seeing on the way there. It could be fun." She smiled as Miki put the map away. Listening to her once again, Yuu nodded every so often. When Miki mentioned being from Jhoto, Yuu's eyes lit up. "Oh, Johto? I'm from there too! Violet City, to be exact. But my family moved to Kalos eventually and that's where I lived for the rest of my childhood." She shifted her weight on her legs, her left knee bent a little each time weight was put on it to relieve stress. Her crippled shin was a little weaker than her other leg.

"I wouldn't mind heading there with you. It seems like it would be a nice experience if Fennekin and I went along with some others." She looked down at her fox Pokemon, who was happily running back and forth from the side of the road to where they were standing, creating a small pile of twigs in front of the Charmander. She let out a little chuckle. "He's usually so skittish, but I guess he's happy he followed you out here."

Soon enough, the Fennekin's ears twitched and he hesitated in mid stride with a few twigs in his mouth. He looked toward two newcomers. A Squirtle and who seemed to be his trainer. Yuu caught her Pokemon's abrupt halt and followed his gaze to see the stranger with the Squirtle. And she squinted in confusion when she noticed the Squirtle with a cigarette in its mouth. Fennekin didn't seem to mind at all. He dropped the twigs and trotted over to sniff the Squirtle and the man that accompanied it.

Miki was pleased that Yuu agreed to travel with her. It would make the time pass so much faster.

But then she noticed that Fennekin running over to a Squirtle with... a... cigarette?

Miki was more than a little shocked to see the Squirtle smoking a cigarette. Honestly it was more than a little put off by it. The sight of a Pokemon smoking a cigarette was so foreign. It was... almost aggravating to see something like that. But it was not her Pokemon so she didn't really have much of a place to speak.

... Still...

Miki chose to remain silent as she observed the Squirtle and its cigarette.

"'Yo." Joshua said, looking at the two people and their Pokemon. "Trainers..." Joshua thought, considering the idea of a battle but quickly dismissing it. Soup probably knew only one offensive move, and even if he was a water type, he and Soup wouldn't have a great chance at the moment.

Soup looked back and forth between the new people and Pokemon, hesitantly waddling up to the Fennekin. "Squirt?"

"My name's Joshua. This is Soup. Well, only if he misbehaves, that is." Joshua said, giving a sideways glance at the water-type pokemon.

"Squirt? Squirtle!" Soup retorted, angrily returning the glace with what seemed to be an unspoken threat. Joshua could only assume Soup was cursing at him.

"Shut it, or you're the entrée." Josh said, smiling devilishly, right before ducking a torrent of water not quite strong enough to cause serious damage. Soup stuck his tongue out, mocking Joshua.

"As you can see, our partnership is... a work in progress. What're your names, if I may ask?" Joshua spoke with as much sincerity as he could muster, which elicited something between a laugh and a grunt from Soup.

Fennekin bounced around the new Pokemon. he ran back and forth between the Charmander and the Squirtle, starting to drop twigs in front of them. Yuu watched him for a moment, still confused by his odd behavior. She looked back up at Joshua.

"My name is Yuu," she said. "And that is... well, Fennekin. I haven't named him." She clasped her hands together in front of her chest. Her Fennekin barked in a high pitched tone, confirming that Yuu was right. He then plopped down in a random place and started scratching behind his ears again.

Yuu rocked back and forth on her feet and looked between Miki and Joshua. She then looked at Soup, her nose scrunching a little as the smell of cigarette smoke tickled her senses. Although she wasn't very accepting of smokers, she stayed quiet. "Are you heading to Viridian City as well?"

Miki couldn't get over the Squirtle's cigarette. How and why would it be doing something like that? Did it really, despite its seeming distaste for its Trainer, have the same personality? Miki didn't have any answers. Only questions. It was so foreign to see something that she saw as an animal, a pet, a companion to be smoking a cigarette. So unnatural.

She just couldn't get over it.

But she saw more in the end than just that. There was a bond beginning to form. The two argued like siblings, in a way. Perhaps there was more to their pairing than she originally thought? The professor wouldn't have gifted him the Squirtle if he didn't think there was a good reason to put them together. She trusted the professor, so she decided not to question the relationship these two had. She still didn't like the Squirtle smoking like that, but it was not her Pokémon so she had no right to judge.

Instead, she shook it off as best she could and gave the pair a small bow.

"My name is Miki Saegusa. It's a pleasure to meet you both." She said pleasantly.

Blaze was curious about the cigarette as well but made no moves to investigate. He was going to stay with his Trainer.

Putting out the cigarette and pulling out a bottle of water from the bag that Joshua had slung over his shoulder, he took a small drink before responding.

"It's a... pleasure to meet you as well, Miki, Yuu." Joshua said, looking at the two people and their Pokemon. A slightly discoloured Charmander as well as a Fennekin. Joshua went over the knowledge he had of the starter Pokemon available to new trainers. Both were Fire types, which meant that they would eventually be very powerful, almost unstoppable in their strength. Past that, he didn't know much about them. A Water type wouldn't leave permanent scarring if you angered it, at least on the outside. That was Josh's reasoning for choosing Squirtle. A Grass type could cut with vines and leaves, and a Fire type could burn you, which is painful. But a Water type won't leave scarring unless you really angered it.

"Yes, I believe I'll be going to Viridian city at some point. If you are travelling in that general direction, I would be more than happy to accompany you. That is, may we accompany you to Viridian City?" Joshua asked, trying to seem polite. It wasn't vitally important to have travelling companions, but there was safety in numbers.

Soup, meanwhile, went back to investigating the two Fire type Pokemon present. He waddled up, quite unceremoniously, scratched its head a bit, tossed the cigarette unto the group, spit on it, then proceeded to attempt conversation with the Charmander and the Fennekin.

"Squirt *cough* Squirt... squirtle?" Soup said, patiently awaiting a response.

Fennekin looked at Soup, and then at the cigarette it had tossed to the ground and had spit on. He sniffed it, and then out of nowhere, let a small flurry of flame out of his mouth and set the discarded cigarette on fire. It wasn't a big enough flame to cause any trouble.

"What was that? It smelled funny! Like smoke!" Fennekin yipped back at Soup.

Yuu looked at Miki when Joshua asked to travel with them. She was sure they were both older than her by a few years. It was something she learned while growing up; younger people had no right to make decisions for anyone else. That didn't mean it was what everyone believed though. Personally, she didn't mind. She looked down a the Pokemon. It seemed like they were talking to each other. But about what? There was a tiny flame on the ground where the Squirtle tossed the cigarette. Yuu looked up at Joshua.

"I suppose you could," she said quietly. "Though I'm not entirely sure if it's my decision to make."

"A stick of smoke? How bizarre." Blaze remarked as he observed the cigarette.

Miki, in the meantime, looked to Joshua.

"I don't have any real objections to you coming with us." Miki said.

She looked back to the Squirtle for a moment but then let out a soft sigh.

"Anyway, I think it'd be best if we got moving. Night falls fast in this area due to the mountains and the tree line. We should move ahead and see if we can find a good place to set up camp for the night." She suggested.

Yuu nodded in agreement. She took off her backpack and took out a jacket. it wasn't very cold out, but since it was nearing the evening, it was presumably going to get colder. She put her backpack back on and tied the jacket around her waist for better accessibility. "I'm excited," she said. "I wonder if we'll be lucky enough to meet any new Pokemon."

At her statement, Fennekin's ears perked up. He was loosening up a bit since they were away from a crowded area. "New Pokemon? New Pokemon!?" He bounced up and down a few times, squeaking happily. "Yes! New friends!" Fennekin jumped around Yuu's feet and she giggled a little at the sight.

"You're especially hyper today, I wonder what's gotten into you. You're never like this." Fennekin put his front paws on her leg and she picked him up carefully. Instead of staying still, he squirmed around and climbed onto her shoulder. He was a little too big for her shoulder though, so he supported his back paws on the backpack she had on. He put his front paws on her head, and Yuu touched her knees together to keep her balance. It might not have seemed so difficult to support the twenty pound fox, but it was actually pretty uncomfortable for her neck.

"And you've never done that before either," Yuu said quietly.

It was a frazzled Aria that got of the boat in Pallet Town. While it had admittedly been a nice ride, being more of a small cruise ship than anything, the company left something to be desired. Not the crew, they were flawless, but the other passengers were rather... eccentric...

It wasn't that she didn't have a good night's sleep -despite her 'noisy' neighbours-, as her antiquated Ipod drowned out most of the noise. She was truly grateful towards the small piece of technology, a memento of when she still lived in Lumiose City. But back to the topic on hand: It was just... Everything onboard kept her on her toes. By Arceus, she didn't even get the peace she needed to read, and she could ignore quite a lot when she was off in her own world.

So yes, despite realizing it was probably the most luxurious part of the trip she would get for a while, she was glad to be on solid ground again.

Pallet Town wasn't overly large and it was relatively easy to navigate. So with the directions she asked from a dock worker, she made it to the laboratory. It was rather quiet when she got there, was she late? She hoped not.

She knocked on the door, but didn't hesitate to walk in, as it was slightly ajar. It seemed to be empty of human life.

"Uhm... Good afternoon, is someone there?"

She startled when a man suddenly stood up from behind his desk. "Yes", he chuckled, "Someone is here."

Ah... This really wasn't good for her heart it seemed.

Nevertheless, after she had composed herself again, she asked him, "Are you the professor I was supposed to meet?"

He raised an eyebrow, "I assume I am, as otherwise you'd be very, very lost..."

She flushed again, what was up with this man? Why couldn't he just give straight answers.

"I came here to get my partner, a Chikorita, professor Leingod.", she said plainly, trying to not let his demeanor affect her. It wasn't working very well though.

He waved it off, "Yes. Yes, one Chikorita coming up."

Aria flushed, this time out of anger. She had been around her sister's pokemon long enough to know they were every bit as sentient as you and I. To hear him be this dismissive about entrusting a young one to someone he barely knew... It was criminal.

The professor stilled, "Ahaha... Forgive me, it seems I took the joke too far... You do seem rather easy to tease though, and I couldn't help myself..."

"Either way, let's not dally in getting you your pokemon."

She followed him to the back of the room silently. After watching him move around for a while, he came back with a pokeball. He pressed the button, and the red light escaping it formed itself into a Chikorita. The pokemon looked up to her with curious eyes and approached her. The Chikorita gave her an imperious sniff, before apparently deeming her worthy and trotting to her side.

Aria was a bit overwhelmed by all of this, but just as she was about to voice this, professor Leingod spoke up.

"Don't worry", he said, "While this pokemon might seem a bit mean at first" -at this the Chikorita send the professor an affronted look- "She can be a real cutie once she gets to know you". The affronted look -if anything- grew, and despite herself Aria found herself barely holding back a chuckle.

After this she was soon hostled out by the professor, who claimed he wanted to join his assistants for their belated lunch. The entire encounter had left her a bit off-kilter, and awkwardly she glanced down at the Chikorita.

"Shall we head out then?"

The Chikorita began trotting towards the entrance of Route 1.

"An answer if I ever saw one...", she muttered to herself, before starting to follow after the leisurely walking pokemon. It wasn't that hard to catch up, seeing how she had longer legs. She pulled a book from her back as she was catching up, and after a few minutes of reading she absentmindedly asked, "Would you like a name?", and after a moment of deliberation, the Chikorita nodded.

"How about Lily?", she asked, but Chikorita shook her head. The next names she thought up were met with the same fate.

As they continued, they eventually saw a group up ahead. Aria hesitated, should she go talk with them?

Miki was feeling pretty relaxed by this point in time and was rapidly warming up to her new companions. The Squirtle smoking still had her wondering about a few things, but otherwise she was ready to move on.

She gathered her stuff and made sure she and Blaze were set to head out before beginning to wander down the path. Blaze trotted along happily at her side and kept a lookout for nearby Pokémon. She kept an eye out as well and was eager to find her first one. The Professor told her that she had to battle and weaken them first, so that meant sending Blaze into combat. She wasn't really a fan of the idea, but at the same time it was just how things worked.

Battling would be scary, but Blaze seemed ready for it so she had to put her faith in him if and when it came down to it.

She walked slowly down Route 1's path hoping the others were keeping up. Night was already beginning to fall with the sky turning a faint orange hue as the sun began to set beyond the horizon through the trees. Finding a good campsite would be priority 1 very soon. Miki wasn't really one for camping so she'd have to ask the others to scout a spot for them.

Chikorita impatiently poked Aria in the side with a vine whip. Aria winced. While the strength used in the action was undoubtedly gentle by pokemon standards, that was definitely going to leave a bruise on her human self. She didn't vocalize this though, as it seemed Chikorita had already picked up on her discomfort by her facial expression.

Unknown to the girl, this visible reaction strengthened the pokemon's resolve. This human might be a weakling, but the professor had said the human was hers, so she might as well make sure no harm befell her. It had absolutely nothing to do with Aria's tender expressions and the admittedly delightful dried berry mix the girl had given Chikorita while waiting for the professor to finish the last formalities. Even the professor must have been jealous, as he had claimed to want lunch soon after and rudely hostled them out!

Aria in the meantime, having made a decision, picked the thinking Chikorita up to Chikorita's momentarily distress. It soon faded though, and the pokemon made herself comfortable. She might even get used to this, free rides!

Aria had made a decision and made her way to the group, and greeted them.

"Good evening, did you just meet your partners at professor Leingod's too?"

Aria shifted a little, though taking care not to jostle Chikorita to much. Had that been too direct? She hoped not...

Fennekin seemed to enjoy riding on Yuu. It did slow her down a bit, since she had an odd walking pattern due to her crippled leg. She limped oddly. It wasn't just any limp, it caused her to sway slightly as she walked. Fennekin didn't seem to notice, as he was busy looking around at the tall trees. Yuu held the straps to her backpack as she followed Miki and Joshua. Though upon hearing someone's voice, she looked behind herself just as Fennekin bounced back to the ground and trotted over to an adorable Chikorita to say hello.

"Hello! What is your name? Did your trainer give you a name? Do you like twigs?" He was happily bouncing around.

"Oh, hello there," she said, "I've actually had my Fennekin for about five days. I flew in from Kalos this afternoon with him."

Miki's head turned just in time to see a new arrival. It was another young woman with long silver hair. She was quite lovely, Miki had to admit.

She smiled warmly at the girl.

"I have indeed just gotten my Charmander, whom I've named Blaze, from Professor Leingod this morning."

Miki gave the girl a polite bow.

"My name is Miki Saegusa. It's a pleasure to meet you." She said.

Chikorita jumped out of her trainers arms. She was a bit taken aback by the energetic nature of her fellow pokemon but nevertheless replied, "Hmm, vines are better, although I guess I can see why one would be attracted to twigs."

Aria smiled upon hearing that one of the other girls was from Kalos. "I used to live in Kalos too until I was seven. Lumiose City to be exact. It was a bit of a culture shock when we moved to Cerulean City for my father's job though."

"As for the name, My human has been trying to find one I like for the past few hours, but has only just cottoned in to the fact that I don't like flower names, so she hasn't been succesful yet. My mother has named me 'Leaf dancing to a summer's breeze' [Chikorita], but that would be a bit of a mouthful when translated to their silly human speech though. Has your human given you a new one yet?"

"Anyway, it's nice to see a Kalosian and her Fennekin here. You too, Saegusa-san, Blaze, and your silent companion and his partner ofcourse."

She felt a bit bad that she was adressing someone standing next to her in the third person, even while a bit put out that the boy in question seemed to be ignoring her.

"I'm Aria d'Argo. It's a pleasure to meet all of you too."
