Whether these ghosts have unfinished business or they just cannot move on for one reason or another, they haunt the world. Even as it approaches a new era, the undead walk the planet as an eldritch reminder of the inevitable future we must all eventually confront--our own demise. Though they have no proper home base, there are a few locations where the undead gather in great numbers for reasons not necessarily clear. Perhaps the location has a lot of spiritual energy, or perhaps it was the site of some sort of unspeakable catastrophe that left many of it's residents unable to move on. Ever since the vanishing, ghosts have been becoming more and more common.
Most ghosts take the form of harmless apparitions, incapable of interacting with most of the physical world. Some ghosts are more powerful and obtain poltergeist-like powers, however, they are still relatively weak. A select number of ghosts, mainly in specific areas, are powerful to manifest corporeal bodies resembling their former selves. Zombies, you might call them. It is said that demons and angelic figures have been spotted, seemingly spirits, but this could be readily chalked up to ghost-type pokemon spirit wielders who only use spiritual powers while staying very much alive.

Indeed a ghost may seem helpless and easy to gulp down, but their resilient souls often prove to be very difficult to 'digest'. One would likely find themselves forced to cough up a very, very irritated spirit within a few hours lest things get uncomfortable.
