Samson was often referred to in his hometown as the village idiot and hothead due to his impulsive and excited nature. He often wears a stupidly large grin plastered across his face when he is around others, further strengthening the belief that he is only a child in a man's body. Despite common conception of him, Samson is willing to take the constant ridicule and dislike of him to let his analytic side show in battles. He uses a goofy facade to bring out emotions of frustration and anger in people so he knows how they would act in extremely tough situations. His ambitious personality also comes through in his battling tactics with inventive ways to use his moves that his opponents would not expect. Because of all of this, Samson often wants to be regarded as a leader when needing to make group decisions.
While around others he is a rather loud and goofy individual, when he is only around his Pokemon he becomes quieter and more mature. Him and his Pokemon understand each other as if they were speaking the same language, and they discuss strategies on how to succeed the next day or how to fix what went wrong before. He treats his Pokemon as if they were people and acts much more polite around them then he does with others.
Since Samson grew up in a small, rural town, he developed a very flirtatious attitude towards women. The only catch is he wants them to have some 'fight' in them. In other words, if they don't, he loses interest extremely fast and begins to treat the girl like he would any other person. If she meets his requirement though, he becomes infatuated with her and spends whatever time he isn't using for battle strategies into devising ways to make his dream girl fall in love with him, be it outrageous and stupid or simple and lovely.
History:
Born to a relatively well off family, Samson had no other siblings and his father died very early on in his life. His mother was able to successfully run the family business, a small restaurant, and was able to provide enough care and support to her son that he was able to grow up stable and relatively unfazed by his father's death. When he was young he was taught how to cook and properly clean, so Samson is actually - contrary to popular belief - a good homeowner and is able to take care of himself without any supervision. Additionally, since his mother was often so consumed by work all the time, Samson was given free reign to go about the town on his own and learn about life. Because of this, he developed a very independent mindset at a young age and had a curious knack for exploration. With his desire to explore though led him into many awkward situations with other business owners as he got into areas he wasn't supposed to, leading to many parents telling their children not to interact with Samson at all.
In order for Samson to have a companion growing up, his mother gave him a Shroomish to go exploring with. Immediately Samson became attached to his new Pokemon and they traveled together to continue his around town adventures. around the age of seven, Samson developed the idea that he wanted to see if he was able to best the security of local shops. He enjoyed the challenge and he used his partner to win in every situation. As the years went by, security got tighter and Samson continued to use his intelligence to surpass every block. And since he had no human companions, Samson never really learned how to interact with people, and by the age of fifteen he just acted like a goofball around everyone while analyzing their every movement and thought to see how he could beat them in the future. Growing up in Dendemille Town gave Samson the ability to use Heart Scales to reteach Pokemon old/egg moves due to his affiliation with the Move Tutor and Move Deleter. Being his great uncle and aunt, they showed him how to do what generations before were doing for years.
When Samson hit the age of sixteen, he decided it was time for him to leave the town and explore like he always loved to do as a child. On his journey, he acquired a Houndour, Swinub, Scyther, Noibat, and Zangoose as he traveled across Kalos, Jhoto, and Sinnoh over the years. In each region he looks for challenges - be they gym, trainer, or frontier brain - and acquired quite a collection over his five years of travel. He never acquired all eight gym badges from each region or all of the frontier symbols because he never saw all of them as challenges and therefore not worth his time. He never traveled in a group either because every trainer he met were not able to meet his rigorous standards for a decent companion.
Now, at the ripe age of Twenty he heads towards Hoenn for the same reasons he headed towards the other regions, for a challenge. He starts off with no idea of what Team Magma and Team Aqua are doing, so all he wants to do is find those who are worthy of battling with against his convoluted and crazy strategies.
