"Okay. I think I'll tag along for a little while." Noko replied, shuffling his feet as he did so. Crimson saw clearly in his eyes that Noko wanted to leave, but knew that he'd be safer if he went with him rather than alone, even if it meant braving it a little bit longer. Crimson smiled.
"So, er...lead on!"
"Oh right," Crimson chuckled at his own moment of thought before heading right. This was where he had to be cautious, he knew. One wrong step could lead to a booby trap, a stronger enemy, or a deep passage to get lost down. He reached a three way intersection. One led forward, the other two went left and right. He looked around and spotted a rock with a single jagged edge. He picked it up, then placed it in the center of the intersection, the jagged edge pointing where they came. "Maybe, we could find some landmarks and-"
He was interrupted by the shaking of the ground, obviously from something heavy dropping from a decently high height. It scared the crap out of him. Shuddering, he turned to Noko to make sure he was alright. It was then that he noticed a fifth passage, revealed in the mass of earth shaking. It must have crumbled the wall away, revealing this. A light blue light was barely shimmering through. "Look at this," he said. He walked over to the entrance, then turned to Noko. "I'm going to head in. Stay at the mouth of the way we entered in and if you see anything coming towards you, come in after me." And with that, he went inside.
It suddenly felt as if he didn't belong here. There was a damp air all around him and it was bone-chilling cold. He heated up his fingers just to try and keep them warm, but it didn't help. Whatever was around him sucked up the heat as if to taunt him. He found it hard to breathe. It was like he was drowning.
As he progressed forward, he noticed the light getting bigger and stronger. For this, he was relieved as well as noticing that there weren't any diverse paths to take in this part of the cavern. That was good, he thought. He wasn't going to get lost.
At last, he reached a decently large cave. Water was almost everywhere. A narrow path led to a pedestal, revealing the source of the light. The stalagtites hung eeriely low and looked unstable. They could fall if that pounding continued.
Crimson approached the narrow path with caution before taking his first step and cringing. Nothing happened. He looked up. The stalagtites were still there. Relieved that it wasn't booby trapped, he walked along the narrow path, walking carefully as to not fall in. That might be bad for him for more reasons than one.
The pedestal was surrounded by three feet of land, it's own little peninsula. The light illuminating from the object was reflecting off the water, on the cavern walls, and back again, causing so much light. His own light eminating from his hands was surprisingly the only thing keeping him from being blind. It felt wierd.
Finally, he was on the island. Cautiously approaching the pedestal, he saw the thing causing so much blue light, and leaped in joy. It was a Moonstone. He knew that these were rare finds to find below ground, much less above. He knew that this dungeon hadn't had the stone removed from it yet and people were wondering where to look.
Was it safe to touch? The Moonstone represented water elements everywhere and considering that he was the opposite...this might hurt to handle. But he didn't have anything to protect his hands with. He decided to poke it first. With his hands still covered in fire, he gently tapped the Moonstone.
Suddenly, a course of power went through him. He brought his hand back, shocked. A deep flowing kind of energy was hanging in a corner of his mind, he could feel it. He also felt the atmosphere change somehow. It took a little bit to realize that the pressure around him wasn't so claustrophobic, the air wasn't damp. He felt stronger, more powerful somehow. Was this a trap?
He decided to forget it, calling it a figment of his imagination. He touched the Moonstone again. This time, there was no power surge flowing through his body. How odd...
He picked the Moonstone up from the pedestal and then walked back. It felt so good to see the entrance once more. The cavern was wierd. He smiled as he approached Noko the moment he left the cave. "Got a Moonstone," he smiled.
