Dancing through the halls of the base going into the recruits living quarters a young looking boy starts to sing"Everybody want's to be a master. Everybody want's to show their skills. everybod-" Not paying attention does a spin to his right ramming against the wall falling back to the ground with a pokeball falling out of his pocket.

"OUCH! That hurts....Who put that wall there?" Regaining his train of thought he looks to his left seeing his pokeball. He crawls to it picking it up still sitting at the ground looking at the pokeball. He smiles giving out a small chuckle saying to him self "Oh Larvitar, you're such a cute pokemon...Which is why I know the girls would love you! Even when you become a giant cool looking Tyranitar." He looks around putting the pokeball into his pocket going on with his walk looking for his room.

After a moment of time has passed he looks around and notice something is wrong....He's not in the living quarters anymore. He looks all around puzzled as can be saying out loud "OH MAN I'M SO LOST! I know I shouldn't have flirted with that girl from before when the group was being lead to their rooms.

"Hey what are you doing here?!" The boy stands still in shock turning around slowly seeing a middle aged grunt and saying to him "Well I'm looking for my room. I'm Rai Tsute and I'm a new recruit." The grunt grabs him by the arm making sure he doesn't do anything funny questing him with "Why weren't you with the group than?!" Rai just gulps responding with "Well there was this girl-" Get's cut off with the grunt "Never mind, I don't want to know."

He takes the boy around the base finding out which room is his and just tossing him in there. The grunt just says to the boy "Don't try anything stupid like this again!" Closing the door on him. Right then and there, Rai started to feel that things will be turning for the worst.

"You are taking over training duties for the recruits? I can assemble them for you if you wish . . ." Victor asked, a hint of curiosity evident in his voice.

"I won't be taking over, Victor." L said, in a voice close to a whisper, "I'll simply be joining you. Please see to it that they meet me at the summit of the volcano."
He walked smoothly over to the door, and placed his a finger on the small release switch. As he pushed down on it, a satisfying beep told him the door was about to open.
The bulletproof door popped ajar, and he opened it wide, before turning to face Victor once more.
"I'd like you to join us, Victor. You and I shall be training the recruits for the challenges that lay ahead.." He paused for a long moment, before adding, "Don't forget to bring some body bags."
And with this, he exited the room, with Persian close at his heels.

Nightfall was closing in fast. Which was perfect. The recruits would be forced to come out in the darkness, to fight their Pokemon on an active volcano. And wimps among them would be obviously shaken. And they could be disposed of.
The body bags would be needed, too. Certainly, some Pokemon were going to die here tonight.

L plucked a small ultra ball from his belt, and clicked its central button once, the ball expanded rapidly, it's cool shell filling his palm.
L had many Pokemon, stored away on a highly defended PC within the mansion. A lot of his Pokemon were extremely rare, and a lot were extremely powerful, too. But he didn't carry any of his strongest around with him. Only his Persian, and the Dragonair within this ultra ball.
There was a vivid flash of red, as he thrust the ball towards the ground. The Dragonair writhed happily on the filthy ground, pleased to be released from its confines.
"Are you ready for a little fun?" L asked it, a sinister grin flickering across his face. This Dragonair was very special indeed. it was the offspring of his Finest Dragonite. And one day, he knew, This Dragonair would bring him victory over the Crusaders.

Victor nodded in acknowledgement, but L and his faithful Pokemon were already gone. He understood the instructions and their implications perfectly. Desolate silence filled the oppressively shadowy office as he exchanged glances with Kadabra. The star upon its forehead emitted a faint luminescent glow and its long whiskers twitched.

"Tell me about it," responded Victor to whatever sentiment his (for lack of a better word) companion cared to express.

"But we have work to do," he added with a sardonic smile as he stepped out in his leader's wake, and headed for the barracks.

A lesser man might have taken the opportunity to snoop such a secretive leader's personal quarters, but Victor knew better. Perhaps it was the fragmented remnants of some martial code of honor that caused him to first focus on the task at hand rather than any personal curiosity. Perhaps it was because L shared with him everything he needed to know, or simply that turning his back and leaving him alone to carry out the request implied a trust that the rogue soldier would rather not break. In any case, Victor had no time to dwell deeply on the matter. He had work to do.

Upon reaching the area that served as the living quarters - more accurately described as semi-private rooms within the decrepit mansion than actual barracks - Victor wasted no time in rounding up the troops. As promised, training would begin immediately.

"All hands in the hallway, Pokemon contained," he shouted as he pounded on each of the three doors hiding the meager number of recruits Omega had obtained.

Victor made no attempt to soften his heavy steps as he brusquely marched to the end of the corridor containing the bedrooms and turned to face the emerging young men and women he had just disturbed. He did not expect them to react in as disciplined a manner by standing before their respective quarters at silent attention this first time. That would be their first lesson. What he did expect was showing enough discipline and respect by responding quickly.

He considered how to best approach the first battle in which he would appraise their strengths and weaknesses, now with L taking part in the training. He found that he certainly didn't mind the change . . .it would simply be something different. A good soldier knew how to adapt to and take advantage of change.

Anticipating the nature of the events that would follow, Kadabra dug a clawed hand into one of the deep side pockets of Victor's slacks and removed a silver tablespoon. Its multiple scratches reflected the light of the many distant suns along its travels.

Hearing the banging of the door Rai lazily stumbles out of his room with his eyes hardly open. Rubbing his eyes he looks around seeing the very few recruits and what seems to be the guy in charge of all this. He just yawns sayinng out loud to the scary looking leader guy "Hey man, Can we go back to sleep and do this kind of thing in the morning...I'm already tired." Just from the tone of his uncaring and laid back voice just shouts disrespect. Being the dumb lazy person Rai is, he is fully unaware to what he just said and what kind of trouble it will put him through. Not even knowing what time it is, Rai just wants to sleep showing no care for Team Omegas cause or even care of being here.

Opening his eyes more he sees a girl around his age standing at attention guesting she's a recruit. He grinds a big thinking to him self "She's pretty cute, maybe with the help of Cindaquil and Larvitar..." lossing his train of thought he looks at the commander having a feeling he might be very happy with him right now.

It took a few minutes, certainly longer than would be expected in the future, but the recruits finally trickled out looking more or less presentable. His job was to present them properly to L. Victor nodded curtly to Vixen with vaguest hint of an approving smile tugging at the corners of his lips. Controlled eagerness was a good start. Without changing his generally set expression, he then raised an eyebrow at the equally eager Houndour that appeared beside her, acting for all the world the lovable canine. That would have to change. Omega needed fighters and good trainers, not pets.

Victor's attention was diverted by the insolent words of a sleepy-eyed kid, now looking at him with some semblance of uncertainty. He broke his at-attention stance and silently strode to stand in front of the out-of-line recruit. He let the silent anticipation of what might follow build for a moment as he sized up the boy with that same cold expression. His demeanor was entirely opposite of the one who introduced herself as Vixen. Everything from his posture to his casually careless way of addressing a high ranking officer demonstrated absolute disrespect. This was exactly the kind of attitude he hated having to work with, siply because it was so difficult to manage.

"No," he answered shortly.

Another pause, shorter this time. Victor broke it when, with a quick motion of his right hand, he grabbed a fistful of the offending recruit's collar and pinned him to the closed door behind so that he stood a little taller.

"Stand straight when I talk to you," he barked with equal roughness, then continued in a coldly even tone that left no room for argument. "And next time you think to question direct orders . . . Think again."

Victor released his hold and walked past the remaining recruits to his original post.

"When I call you," he addressed the group as he went. "You will have two minutes to present yourself for inspection, with Pokemon in their balls unless otherwise instructed. You will stand at attention and await my orders. Am I understood?"

Victor turned to face the corridor. This was a man who was used to giving orders and having them obeyed.

Kadabra, meanwhile, sensing Houndour's expectant gaze, returned it with unflinching steadiness. It's star glowed once more, more brightly this time, and the bioluminescent light reached its eyes. The spoon bowed forward an inch as Kadabra focused on it, then back at Houndour as it cocked its head to the side slowly. This particular Confusion move was less powerful than what it would use in battle or on a more experienced Pokemon. It was meant to be subtle, just enough to demonstrate who held the lion's share of strength, but not enough to incapacitate.

Shade had been silently meditating inside his quarters, like his body, his mind and spirit needed to be well trained and disciplined. He sat cross legged on his bed. His eyes closed softly, as if he were sleeping. He cancelled out all thought and became 'solid'. In his hand, he slowly rolled two Pokeballs, as if they we zen balls. With his mental discipline, he could not only cancel out any distractions from his mind, but still be focused on his surroundings with almost heightened senses.

From outside his quarters wasthe sound of a fist going along and pounding on each door it passed, until it did the same to his door. Shade's eyes opened.

He stood up, placing his Pokeballs on his belt, which held the balls securely at his side for easy access. Shade stepped out of his quarters, he saw his obvious superior along with the other recruits. Shade stood at rigid attention, well composed and disciplined. While his face showed no emotion, his eyes we're cold and cruel, like polished river stones in clear icy water, they seemed to pinpoint every fragility, every fear, and every part of what he looked at.

He stood silently and diligently at attention, ready for his superiors orders. This was clearly not his first time in this kind of position.

Rai, after being forced to stand up straight, starts to slouch again just right after the commander turns his back on him. He looks at the commander with that sleepy facial expression just saying to him self "Alright, than I hope we can get this just done and over with soon."He reaches into both his pockets bringing out two Pokeballs. The left holding Larvitar and the right holding Cyndaquil. If today's training is having his Pokemon fight...He's going to have some trouble. His Pokemon can fight. They're just too timid and scared to fight. From this Rai is some what protective of his Pokemon knowing they aren't really ready to fight. Besides, he knows injured Pokemon aren't all that cute and the girls would hate him for neglecting his Pokemon. So part of why he's protective of them is partly for the girls.

He sighs putting his two Pokeballs away and calls out to the commander, yeah not very smart of him. "Alright, so let's get this training over with. Where are we going for this training?" It's not that Rai is trying to be disrespectful to anyone, he's just to dumb to really think before he acts causing more trouble than good for him and others at many times.

Shade remained in attention, disgusted at the unprofessionalistic conduct of his recruit-mates. Shade as a young boy was found abandoned deep within the Viridian Forest by a group of Pokemon Poachers. He had grown up in the forest and learned to how to survive and thrive from the Pokemon, making him more animal than person. The poachers took Shade in as one of their own and raised him to be a master hunter, just like them. Through torturous training and discipline, he learned everything he could from his 'family'. Discipline and obedience were not only demanded by the poachers but it was beaten into him, both literally and figuratively. By age 12, Shade was one of the group's best hunters, even though he was never given a gun for anything other than training. Shade was like an obidient gaurd dog, broken of any thoughts of free will. At 15, Shade was forced to leave the group, in order to for him to journey and become an even better hunter. So it did not really matter to him whether they were disciplined or not, he was not there for them, he as not evey there for his employers. He was there to reach his own true potential, and the rising organization Team Omega was where he could obtain that.

Shade's eyes were locked to Victor, he stood ready for his orders, like a well-trained soldier.

L's Dragonair coiled itself tightly around the injured Electabuzz.
The electabuzz was beginning to froth at the mouth, a thick pink foam of saliva and blood.
"Tighter." L said, coolly, looking down at the scene. His Dragonair was a truly incredible specimen. It was 13 feet long, and extremely thick.
He watched its muscles twitch as it pulled its serpentine body tighter around the neck of the Electabuzz, which began to choke. The thick pink foam was turning redder by the second.
"Finish it." L said, and watched idly as Dragonair plunged its horn deep into the neck of the Electabuzz, which let out a deep throttling groan, as its body slumped against the floor.

Dragonair untangled itself, and slithered swiftly over to L, who dropped a small piece of Candy to the ground, for his dragonair to enjoy.
It was rare that L actually bonded with a Pokemon. Seeing them mainly as tools in his mission. But there was a time, a long time ago, that L had been quite close to his pokemon. He had trained them, played with them, travelled all over with them. But one day, he recalled, someone mocked him. He could still remember Giovanni. The exquisitely dressed, intimidating man, who led Team Rocket.

Giovanni had asked him why he felt the need to bond with his pokemon. Why he put so much time and effort into raising them, when he could get incredible results by merely forcing them.
Giovanni had defeated him in a battle that day. L had never lost a battle with such humiliation. He could remember the incredible team of powerful, destructive Pokemon that Giovanni had. And he hadn't bothered to train them at all.
From that day onwards, L knew he could do so much more with his life, with Pokemon.

At first they had worked together, Giovanni and himself. And yet, one day, Giovanni disappeared. So did the entirety of Team Rocket. To this day, L had no idea why he was abandoned, or what had happened to Giovanni.
But he had taken it upon himself to form a new group of individuals, A group to rule over the entire world.
And thus, Omega was born.

L checked his watch.
Surely Victor would have assembled the new recruits by now.
"Dragonair, come." He said, coldly, as always.

He walked towards the volcano, Dragonair slithering menacingly at his side.

Victor sighed inwardly at Rai’s comment. Obviously not. The kid would require some extra work and discipline, which would either kill him or ensure that he understood what it meant to be an Omega. Were he able to spare the time, Victor would have made good on his promise there and then. But there were three others with some semblance of sense in them, and L was certainly already waiting for them at the volcano. Victor’s desire to knock some sense into the clueless recruit would have to wait until they got there.

“Your first training session will be atop Cinnibar’s volcano. You will demonstrate your skills against myself and your leader, L,” he explained, thus giving Rai the answer he could have gotten without inciting the Commander’s ire.

Now it was Victor’s duty to present the recruits as they were. Although they were untrained yet, he still liked to give the appearance of order and discipline. It was always a good way to start.

“Two rows of two,” he commanded the four before him, then motioned to Vixen and Shade, the single one among them who knew what he was doing. “You two up front.”

As the recruits assembled, Victor removed three heavy bags from the small storage closet behind him and slung them over one shoulder.

“And you,” he growled as he took hold of Rai’s collar and pulled back. “Will carry these.”

With that, Victor unceremoniously dropped the body bags over Rai’s shoulders, his only words of advice being "Keep up."

“Once you reach the top, you will remain in formation until instructed to release your Pokemon. And then . . . good luck,” Victor said as he took his place before the troops . . . ah, new recruits. He had never been one to march and give orders from behind in any case.

The final words were said without sarcasm, but with an irony which offset whatever small sense of sincerity he had placed in them. It was only a momentary demonstration of the inner sentiments of a military man who had left that life behind, but was still an officer and a man at heart. With that, he led the group in stoic silence.

The still, silent ocean melted into the inky sky, the horizon and various jagged rocks scattered near the shore invisible in that dark time between sunset and moonrise. A small amount of precipitation formed around Victor’s temples and at the nape of his neck as he hiked up the red-tinted smooth rockface that was Cinnibar’s old volcano. Hot air from its depths mixed with the evening’s cool air, bringing an acrid, smoky scent with it. He could already see a dark human silhouette against the darker sky. It was as lean and silent as the snake-like form beside it. Waiting. Silent. Deadly.

“Halt!”

The order rang sharp and clear through the night air as the group reached a comparatively flat area near the summit. Although the volcano was classified as inactive, an attentive visitor might feel life beneath the solidified magma. The mount still spewed hot air and the occasional plume of black smoke.

Victor approached L, sparing a quick glance to a stripped yellow carcass nearby. Kadabra also noticed as he took his place beside Victor.

“I see we’re ready to begin,” Victor said simply as he nodded in acknowledgement of his leader. “Shall we break them in?”

Kadabra’s tail swished quickly as he rubbed the convex side of the silver spoon. He bowed his head slightly with closed eyes as if to acknowledge the serpentine Dragonair. Perhaps there was more to the gesture, some sort of salute to her silent strength, but that was not for human minds to know.

“And you,” he growled as he took hold of Rai’s collar and pulled back. “Will carry these.”

Before Rai had any idea what was going on, he was almost forced to the ground just by the weight of the heavy bags that he's forced to carry. He tries to pull him self up and manages to hold him self up for a moment. The commander and the recruits start to walk ahead of him as he had a hard time just moving with out the bags falling over him. "Hey wait for me guy!" Trying to move after them. But as he said that the bags start to move more back and back forcing hi to fall back onto the ground with the bags crushing him down with their weight. "It's alright...Don't need any help..At all." sighing trying to get back up.

After a few attempts of trying to keep up Rai finally reaches the volcano tops a few seconds after everyone else. Rai didn't really hear the halt part and kept walking slightly pass the commander dropping the bags on the ground with out a care. He yawns and says "Training done...Going back to my room." He starts to walk away back to heading to his room but stops. He sees in the corner of his eye a Pokemon on the ground. His eyes start to open wide and his face turns into shock at the dead body. The young boy has not seen one dead thing before. Rai starts to freak out in his mind thinking "What the hell am I doing here?! These people abuse and kill other things just for fun or what?!" He starts to back away from the body slowly trying to just calm him self down.

Victor removed his dark sunglasses in the deepening night, looking to where he presumed L’s gaze to be behind those shadows. His hand paused in surprise within the pocket where he placed the shades as the heavy bags landed with a dull thump between the two officers. Victor’s cold pale gray eyes turned with a seething stare at the brazen youth foolish enough to dismiss himself. It was embarrassing, really, to have someone under his command disregard his authority this way, a poor reflection on both his ability as Commander and the recruit’s own reputation.

What will it take to control that one? Where does such careless disregard for . . . anything come from?

The answer to the first question became clear at Rai’s sudden change of expression. Victor understood. The boy was nearly a man in age, but still young. Perhaps he was still uncertain as to exactly what Omega did, what they were capable of.

“Young man. You look . . . shaken,” he began calmly, the undercurrents of his tone and the stiff, controlled way he turned to face Rai indicating that some combination of irritation and deadly intent hid beneath. “Did I not make myself clear regarding your instructions to carry those bags.”

In that same controlled manner, Victor strode to stand behind Rai as he finished, stopping the recruit’s retreat with an iron grip on the shoulder. He did not truly intend to cause fatal damage to any human trainer that night – Omega needed members, and could hardly afford to lose any on the first night. He did, however, intend to take advantage of any opportunity to drive home the point that there would be no games or leniency here. All would need to be tough enough to handle a fight against the Crusaders, who were not likely to show mercy or kindness to Omegas. Not even young ones who had yet to experience death.

"Everyone position yourselves twenty feet apart," he said more loudly, the commanding tone returning to his voice. "Make four corners around us."

Then, turning to Rai, he asked more quietly, "What's your name, kid?"

If he was going to be the first "volunteer" to stand against Omega's best, he should at least be introduced by name.

Rai in shock still said with a studier "Ra...Rai. My name is Rai Tsute." Rai wanted to run away at that moment, but something told him to stay. To him it feels like there's three parts of him. The scared little kid wanting to leave, the scared teenager knowing if he runs he'll die...And something else he didn't know of. He looks around looking at the other recruits still with his scared facial expression saying "Shouldn't we get introductions done first?" He does a small laugh that starts to turn into a whimper. He was just so afraid to die, he tried replacing his emotions with humor, but failed. He looks over to the rest of the recruits saying "So what are all of your guys name?" He tries to keep up a smile, but can't. The moment his mouth raises up, it just drops back down into a frown with his eyes still wide and showing fear.

Shade stood at attention, his hands behind his back, wrists crossed pokeballs sitting in the palm of his hands. He wasn't much for talking, especially when not ordered to, but it seemed that standing out might move this further. Shade rose his chin and spoke in a strong confident voice as smooth as a shadow in the water, "I am Shade."

Shade took the time to analyze everything, the dark man and the dragonair, the scientist and the magneton, the terrain, the corpses, how they were damaged, the climate, the height, avalible items to grab in case he needs defense. Shade calculated out over a dozen strategies it would take to eliminate all the targets around him. He didn't know if he was going to be attacked but judging by the bodies and body bags, he had a feeling to be on his guard.
