Devi Owen's Story

Jamie woke up cold and wet. At first, he thought his older brother threw a bucket of water on him again, until he looked around. He wasn't in his bed. He wasn't even in his room. He was washed up on a lake, cold and uncomfortable. Jeremy almost started taking his wet clothes off till he noticed other people were around. And other Pokemon. But one caught his eye in particular, a squirtle. He noticed the squirtle was wearing a strange band, and then realized the same band was on his wrist. He tried to take it off, but he couldn't. It was magically bound to him or something.

That is when he heard the voices. "I think they are over here!"

Jamie didn't wait or the others. He just bolted, right then and there, with Squirtle bolting right behind him. He didn't want to find out who they were, and something about their voices scared him.

Luke felt a tiny nudge on his side, prodding him awake. At first, he assumed that it was his mother waking him up from his bed, so he instinctively let out a groan and rolled over. It was only then he felt what was underneath him. Whatever it was, it was unpleasant, damp, and cold. Groggily, his eyes fluttered open. A throbbing headache make him grasp his head in pain.

A tiny voice got his attention. "Eevee!" it said shrilly.

He woke up almost instantly to the sound of someone running away. He looked around, afraid and confused as to where it was. He seemed to be on a beach somewhere, not in his bed. His first thought that he might be dreaming, but it felt too real.

"Eevee!" The voice said again. Luke's eyes fell upon the Pokemon. It was looking worriedly up at him, but gave a quick glance of relief as he focused on her.

"w-wha-" Luke began, but then was cut off.

He saw another boy bolting through some of the underbrush, and then the sound of far-off voices made his blood run cold. For some reason, he knew that these voices were dangerous, and he should not stick around for them. Panic was rising inside him as he breathed hard and desperately jumped to his feet, almost tripping as he did. The first thing is he spotted two other kids near him, who were unconscious. He didn't want to leave them here.

"Hey, you two!" Luke shook Elysia and Devi. "We gotta go!"

"Mrrg...but I can't juggle!" Devi murmurs as she slowly wakes up. "Whozzat?" She rubs her eyes and gets to her knees, yawning. She glances at the two random people, only vaguely interested, but something green catches the corner of her eye and she focuses her attention on that. It's a Treecko with some sort of band around its ankle. It tugs on Devi's wrist and she looks down to see that she has the same sort of band around her arm. "What the heck...?" Treecko seems to yell at her, pointing toward the source of a muffled sound coming from the woods. Finally comprehending what Luke had said, she jumps to her feet, hearing malicious-sounding voices coming their way. "Well, why didn't you say so? I'm out of here." She starts running in the opposite direction from where the voices are coming from, Treecko trying to keep up.

"Bisharp, mommy said I didn't have to get out of bed today!" Elysia mumbled as she rubbed her eyes and began to sit up. Her hands felt around for a moment. The floor was wet? Did her mother have water pokémon at home today? Elysia didn't feel like swimming with her water-type friends today... Then her hearing began to focus a little more. There were people and other pokémon around. Then she finally began to wake up a little more, and opened her eyes to see that her hat was moving around on the floor beside her. "What in the world is going on?" As she moved to pick her hat up, Elysia spotted that there was a Ralts hanging onto the other end. As she stood up and brushed herself down quickly, she scooped up the little Ralts and spotted that it had a cute little belt around its waist. It kind of looked like the band she had on her wrist, too. Before she had a chance to introduce herself to her new pokémon friend, she spotted others running , before registering what Luke had said. Both Ralts and Elysia shuddered as the voices began to draw closer. It was like Luke said, it was definitely time to go. "Let's get out of here. Lead the way!" she said, as she pulled Ralts into her arms, grabbing Luke's arm as she headed in the opposite direction.

Jamie kept running. A squirtle right right behind him. He could feel a jolt of pain each time he used his left leg, but it didn't bother him as much. It only really bothered him when he was walking, not running, oddly enough. His plan? Simple fact, its hard to track anything in a cave. So that is where he had been running for. A cave. The fact it was going to rain soon didn't hurt. And there was a mountain nearby.

But first, he made his first big mistake. He ran as fast as possible in a direction, when he knew nothing about an area. So very soon, he found himself tumbling down a hill he did not realize was there. The squirtle came up to him and nudged his hand. "Squirt, why are you following me?"

It seemed happy, for a moment, as if it wanted to follow him. Jamie, not hearing the voices of the hunters at the moment, looked at the Squirtle. "I am probably going to call you Squirt. Squirt, or Shell. Actually, Shell sounds better".

it seemed happy with this name. He looked down at himself however, and realized tumbling down that hill while wet made him muddy. If he had known he was going to get kidnapped last night, and dropped into a lake, he would have worn something more water friendly. However, all the clothes he was currently wearing were not good wet at all. In other words, he would be uncomfortable, unless he found someone with a fire pokemon, a fire place, or a change in clothes. Or all tree.

He stood up, when someone ran right into him, though he did not see who...

Devi was already getting tired, and she panted as she ran through the dense woods. The little grass Pokemon now running alongside her didn't seem to having a much better time of it.

She skidded to a halt at a steep, muddy hill, and, stooped over, pondered how to get down, Treecko copying her pose. Finally, she shrugged, straightened up, and jumped at the hill. For maybe five seconds she managed to slide down the incline on the flats of her shoes, Treecko clinging to her arm, but after that she slipped and fell on the seat of her pants, spinning in circles now and out of control.

At the bottom she slammed into someone, knocking him over. "Ow! Watch where you're going, moron!" Devi grumbled from the ground, rubbing her head. "Who're you?" she asked, looking up at Jamie.

"Jamie Jones". He hoped she didn't recognize his last name and connect it to his father. He wanted to keep that private for now. Usually, he liked the fame from his father, but right now he thought it was better not to. "We should go, it's going to rain soon and there is a cave right over there, on the other side of this stream".

He hadn't noticed the stream before, he kinda was busy falling and being ran into, before he looked back the way they came. "Well, kinda wish I had known to wear shoes to bed".

Jamie began crossing the stream. At one point, the water was as high as his belly button. However, he made it across. When he turned around, he noticed one of the other kids. "Quickly! We need to get across! There is a cave over here!"

She stands up and unsuccessfully brushes herself off. "Devi. I suppose it's a pleasure, although it'd be more so if I weren't in the middle of nowhere and covered in mud."

"Rain? How do you know? Where I come from, it's cloudy 24/7, yet hardly ever rains. But whatever..." Devi sighs and looks the stream over, spotting a few stones sticking out of the middle. While Jamie wades through the cold water she carefully picks her way across the slippery rocks. She nearly falls, but Treecko catches her and sets her back on her feet. "I didn't need your help, but fine, help me if you want," Devi mutters, stepping onto the other side and going into the cave. Treecko makes a sighing noise and follows.

Jamie entered the cave behind her as it started to rain heavily. Squirtle stayed close. Actually, they both ran in, because those stones Devi walked across weren't stones.

They were Pokemon.

However, as Jamie went further into the cave, he tripped on something. He turned around to see what he tripped on, and it was human bones. "Uh....uh oh".

There was a small bag next to the bones, and with the human bones, there were sets of smaller bones. One of them had a distinct Pokemon look. Jamie inched away from the bones.

"What? What are you so freaked out..." Devi spots the bones and curses under her breath. "Great. Some man-eating Pokemon lives here. Well, I'd like to live, so let's go." She claps her hands together and spins on her heel, marching out of the cave, then screaming and running back in when several Feebas jump out of the water, snapping at her. Treecko goes out and yells at them, shaking his little fist, but gets a water gun to the face in reply, and runs back into the cave, shivering and hugging Devi's leg.

After finally getting over the fact there was a dead guy and dead Pokemon in front of him, he went over and picked up the bag, opening it. Inside was a Pokedex broken in four pieces, some broken Pokeballs, a sketched map of the region that was largely unfinished, an empty water bottle, some Oran berries, and a strange symbol on a small stone tablet. "what is this?"

Very soon, an "Unknown" Pokemon appeared behind Jamie, seeming in the same shape as the symbol. It bumped right into Jamie.

Jamie turned around, startled, as the Pokemon flew into the wall, and the cave wall seemed to...open...revealing a mysterious ruins that cut a path straight into, and possibly threw, the mountain.

Devi's now shifting nervously from foot to foot. "Can we please just stay here? In the relative light and away from the scary tunnel? Pretty please?" She pulls a lollipop out of her pocket and fiddles with the wrapper, looking from the Feebas to the shadowy ruin.
Treecko walks up to the tunnel, looks it over, and heads right in with no hesitation. "What're you doing, you little git?! Come back here!" Devi yelled, racing into the darkness after her Pokemon.
