Abigail Michelson

Abigail looked at her reflection, a small frown on her lips as she ran her hands over her stomach. She'd finally gotten the kind of body she always wanted, but it just didn't feel like it was hers. She sighed quietly, running a hand through her brown hair. She grabbed her backpack and walked out of her room. Her parents were sitting in the kitchen eating breakfast, the smell of eggs, sausages, bacon, hash browns, and pancakes hit her.

Abby walked over to the table to make herself a plate. Her mom gave her a stern look, "Here," She said, giving Abby a granola bar. Abby looked down at it a little disdainfully, looking like she wanted to argue but her mom quickly spoke up. "We spent too much money on this make over of yours, I'm not going to have you screwing it up by going back to your old habits." Her mother said, arms crossed over her chest. "Now, get to school before you're late." She added, pointing to the door. Abby gave the food on the table one last longing look before she turned and walked out of the house.

Abby unwrapped the granola bar and ate it as she walked to school. Her first day back to school since her 'make over', first time out of the house actually. She was extremely nervous by the time she reached the front steps of the school, hoisting her bag up a little more on her shoulders, she walked into the building. As far as everyone knew, she was a new student, and that's the way her parents want it to stay. She walked to the office to get her schedule, once she got it, she went to hunt down her locker, keeping her head down as she walked through the hallway.

Mason made his way into the school building with a huge smile upon his face and laughing with his football buddies. He just couldn't wait for the football season to start up so he could get back out there on the field. They breezed passed a few of the school's outcasts, knocking books straight out of their hands, calling them names, and laughing about it. The boy felt back on top here back at school, it was nice to be back. As he continued making his way through the halls he noticed a gorgeous girl he had never seen around before and he smiled. "Hey man, check her out," he whispered towards his best friend, Jason. "You should totally try and tap that," Jason responded back with a chuckle. "I bet you ten bucks that she won't even acknowledge you when you try to go speak to her," Jason added. "It's a deal man!" Mason responded with a smile and made his way over towards the girl.

He leaned against the locker beside her's and smirked softly, "Well, hello there. I haven't seen you around here before, are you new?" he stated as he slid his hands into his front pockets and watched her with his bright blue hues.

Abby opened her locker and put her backpack away, grabbing out just what she'll need for her first class. She glanced over as she heard someone lean against the locker next to hers. She flinched away slightly when she saw that it was Mason, remembering all the times he and his friends had bullied her. It took a moment for her to remember that she is Abigail now, not Katherine, no longer the same girl Mason had bullied all those years. "Well, seeing as how you haven't seen me before, wouldn't that tell you that I am, in fact new? You shouldn't have to ask." She said coldly, not really wanting anything to do with Mason. "I have to get to class." She said as she closed her locker, turning on her heels and walking off down the hallway without so much as a second glance at Mason. She smiled as she swayed her hips slightly, realizing that she's the one with the power over him now, over all the guys who had bullied her. She covered her mouth with a hand, laughing quietly at the realization.

Jason watched as Mason blew it with this new girl and he laughed. "Pay up bro! Oh and by the way that was smooth! Jason stated as he continued to laugh at Mason's failure. "Oh shut up man, it's not like you could have done any better," Mason responded in return. The way this girl had spoke towards Mason made him want to get to know her even more. Usually girls would kiss up to him without a second thought, but this girl, she seemed different which made Mason draw towards her. The male was eager to get to know this new girl.

The school bell rang as Mason made it into his homeroom class, finding that the girl had been sitting towards the back of the classroom. He sighed when he noticed the only seat open was the one directly next to her. Of course he wanted to interact with her more often, but he didn't want to this early after getting blown off the way she just had, but he just had to deal with it. The male made his way towards the back of the classroom and took his seat as he set his backpack upon the ground beside him.

Abby was sitting in the back of her homeroom, when she heard someone sit down in the desk next to her, she glanced over, rolling her eyes slightly when she saw that it was Mason. "You stalking me now?" She asked as she turned her attention back to the notebook on her desk, starting to doodle a little, just to keep her hands busy as she waited for class to start. She could feel a few people staring at her, but these stares were different than the ones she was used to, she couldn't help but to smile a little. 'Maybe I could get used to this,' She thought, but quickly pushed the thought away as she focused on her doodling, watching Mason out of the corner of her eye, trying to figure him out.

Mason sighed at her words and rolled his eyes. "No, I'm not stalking you. This was just the only seat left," he stated as he leaned back against the back of the chair. He glanced over towards her notebook and noticed that she had been doodling. Even though they were just doodles they were pretty great, "You're really good at drawing ya know," he complimented as the teacher took his place in front of the classroom and cleared his throat before going on about all of the different rules and things they'll be covering this school year.

Even though it had been the beginning of the year, he was already ready to get back home and get to sleep. It was nice and all being back in the doors in a place where he ruled the student body along with his friends and fellow team mates, but when it came to the school work and teachers, he just wanted it all to be over once again.

Abby scoffed quietly as his words about that being only the seat left, 'Surprised he didn't just force someone out of their seat,' She thought with a shake of her head. In her mind, Mason is a monster, a complete jerk, so when he complimented her drawing, it took her by surprise. "Um, thanks." She murmured quietly as the teacher came in to start class.

Her morning classes went by pretty quickly and without much trouble. A few guys had flirted with Abby, causing her to get dirty looks from the girls, but she just ignored it all, something she had come to be very good at. When lunch rolled around, she put her books away and made her way to the lunch room. She was one of the first people there since she didn't stop to talk to anyone. She glanced over the food, her stomach growled as the smell filled her nostrils. 'Oh, it all smells so good.' She thought, but knew her mom would have a fit if she ate any of the fattening foods. She sighed quietly and picked up a salad and a bottle of water before walking over to an empty table to sit down.

Mason and his football buddies walked into the cafeteria with the cheerleaders. The smell of the food made Mason's stomach growl and he smiled as he took his place in the food line. He piled his tray with a cheeseburger and seasoned fries and for a drink he grabbed a cup of lemonade. He paid for his meal then made his way over towards their signature table. The head cheerleader noticed Abby sitting alone and spoke over towards Mason, "She's gorgeous, maybe I could talk her into trying out for the cheer squad?" Mason smiled and nodded his head, "That sounds like a great plan! It'll give her a way to fit in with the rest of the school."

The cheerleader made her way over towards Abby with a smile on her face as she tucked her blonde locks behind her ears. "Hello, I'm Cassi. I was wondering if you'd like to try out for the cheer squad, we have many spots open and you definitely have the body for it! she stated with a cheery tone. Mason sat at the table and began eating his food as he watched Cassi speaking with Abby. He hoped she would at least try out.

Abby was eating by herself, ignoring all the talking and stares going on around her until she heard someone talking directly to her. She glanced up to see one of the cheerleaders standing across from her. It took a moment for the girl's words to register in her brain. 'A cheerleader? Me?' She thought uncertainly, though she knew if her mom found out that she had been offered the opportunity to be on the cheerleading squad and passed it up, she would be upset with her. "I, um, I'll think about it." She said with a small nod of her head, though she knew that there was no way she could say no and still face her mother.

Cassi smiled and nodded her head, "Okay, when you get your answer let me know." The blonde went back on her way towards the table with the other cheerleaders and the jocks. Mason looked to Cassi, "So, what did she say?" he asked curiously. The blonde began eating her salad then responded, "She said she'd think about it." At that Mason smiled and continued eating and talking with his friends. Every now and then he'd glance over towards Abby just to see what she was doing and how she was coming along. He really wanted to talk to her, but he didn't know what to say.

Abby continued to eat her salad alone, her mind reeling as she thought about the cheerleader's words. When she was done eating, she sighed quietly as she got to her feet, her trash in hand. She hesitated a moment before walking over to the table where the cheerleaders and jocks were sitting. She saw Mason sitting there, but ignored him completely as she faced the girl who had spoken to her a few minutes before. "When are the tryouts?" She asked, ignoring everyone else at the table, especially the guys.

Mason was shocked to notice that Abby had been making her way over to their table and began speaking to Cassi about the tryouts. Even though he had hoped she'd go along with it, he always had a feeling that she'd pass up the offer. "Great to hear that. Tryouts are Friday after school in the gym, don't be late," Cassi answered with a soft smile. Jason whispered towards Mason, "You might have another chance with this new girl. After all if she becomes a cheerleader, she will be hanging out the other girls more often." Mason rolled his eyes and sat there in silence, watching as Abby interacted with Cassi. At that moment he had a feeling he had known her from somewhere, but doesn't recognize her. He shook his head and took a bite of his cheeseburger.

Abby nodded her head at the girl's words. "I won't." She said, forcing herself to return her soft smile. When she heard one of the guys whispering, she glanced over to see one of the guys whispering to Mason, seeing him watching her. She rolled her eyes as she turned on her heels and walked away, throwing away her garbage before walking out of the lunch room. She went outside to enjoy the fresh air for the rest of the lunch period, sitting down under a tree, leaning back against it's trunk and closing her eyes.

Mason noticed Abby make her way outside after throwing her garbage out and decided to do so himself. When he walked out the doors he noticed her sitting by a tree relaxing. All he really wanted to do was wish her luck at the tryouts and he was going to do just that. He slowly walked over to her and spoke, "I just wanted to wish you luck at the tryouts Abigail." The male stood there in silence glancing down at her as he waited for any sort of response. If she wished for him to leave her be, that's just what he would do. He didn't want to get on her bad side.

Abby didn't even hear Mason approach, she didn't realize he was there until he spoke, making her jump in surprise. "God, trying to give me a heart attack!?" She snapped, glancing up at Mason. She sighed quietly, shaking her head. "I'm sorry," She murmured, gently placing a hand on her chest, trying to calm her racing heart. "Thank you," She said, resting her head back against the tree once more. Even though she hated the boy after everything she put him through, she didn't want to become one of the people she despised. She just couldn't be mean like that.

Mason chuckled softly when he startled her and smiled, "It's fine. I shouldn't have been as quiet as I was." He sat down beside her and looked her in her eyes. "I know this may sound like a weird question, but have we met before? I feel like I've seen you somewhere," he stated calmly in a curious tone as he tried to study over her facial features a bit more, trying to answer his own question, but to no avail.

Abby's heart skipped a beat when Mason asked if they had met before, but she did her best not to let it show on her face. She scoffed quietly, "Yeah, we've met before, this morning when you were stalking me. She said, running a and through her hair as she tried to keep calm, hoping he would just let it go and not press it any farther. She turned away from him slightly as he studied her face. "Did you want something?" She asked, trying to take his focus off of trying to place where he may have seen her before.

Mason just decided to drop the subject when she asked if there was anything else he needed. He just sighed and nodded his head, "Actually there was," he started. He gave a soft smile as he added, "I was wondering if you would like to attend the dance with me?" he questioned as he slid his hands into his pockets, feeling a bit nervous as to what her answer was going to be. He wasn't sure why he was as nervous as he was, he never was with other girls. Maybe it's just the fact that he had to try harder to impress this girl, it took more effort than any of the other girls.

Abby raised a curious eyebrow at Mason's first words, but it fell slightly when he asked her to go to the dance with him. She knew any other girl would jump at the chance to go to the dance with Mason, but this was the guy who had tortured her for years. Now that she's skinny and he clearly doesn't recognize her, he wants to go out with her. She hesitated a moment, biting the inside of her cheek. "I, uh, I don't think that's such a good idea." She said as she got to her feet, dusting off her butt to make sure she didn't have any dirt on her clothes. "You see, I, um, I have a boyfriend." She lied. Abby had actually never had a boyfriend, ever.

"Oh, um, alright, see ya around I guess," he stated as he turned on his heels and went in the opposite direction. He noticed his friends standing there, laughing at him. Mason had a feeling he did something wrong and he had no idea what it was. What was with this girl? Any other girl would jump to the occasion of having Mason as their date, why did she pass it up?

"Dude! That was harsh," David stated to him with a chuckle. "Shut up man. I'll get her eventually. I just need to figure out how to do it. She's just too damn gorgeous to give up on. Though she seems so familiar but I just can't seem to place her," he stated to his friends.

Abby sighed a sigh of relief when Mason walked away, feeling she can relax a little without him scrutinizing her, trying to figure out why she looked so familiar. Honestly she was afraid if people found out her secret, the extent her family went to, things would be even worse than before, she'd be the laughing stock of the school. Abby ran a hand through her hair, calming herself down before turning and walking into the building to head to class.

Mason sighed as he stepped out of the last class of the day and started making his way through the halls towards the gym. He figured he mind as well show up at the cheerleading tryouts, just to see the kind of girls who would be cheering for him this year. Though thankfully he wasn't the only football player showing up, that would just make things a whole lot worse than they should be. Mason sat down on the bleachers, on the opposite side from the girls who were trying out. He scanned through the girls and finally spotted Abigail. He wasn't sure what it was, but she just seemed a whole lot more gorgeous than she was just an hour ago.
