Sam's eyelids fluttered open, revealling her dazzling blue eyes. Her light pink hair lay messily on her pillow, reaching down to her lower back. With a loud groan, she forced her body to lift itself up into a sit. Her arms stretched out as a much needed yawn escaped her soft lips. Once her vision had completely returned, better than ever, she scanned her eyes around her bedroom.

She swung her legs out from the blanket and dangled them over the edge, where she found her soft, fluffy slippers. For as long as she could remember, even as a child, Alex always put her slippers in the correct position for when she awoke. The corners of her mouth curled upwards slightly in a smile. "Alexander!" She called, "Be a dear and put the kettle on". Sam knew he'd most likely be up by now, since he was always up earlier than everyone else.

Sam stood herself up, almost toppling over. She had a hard time keeping her balance when she was too tired to pay attention to where her feet were or what direction she was leaning in. She skipped off to her bathroom with a bright grin on her face, humming a small tune as she went.

She jumped back out about an hour later, fully washed, clothed and ready for the day's activities. She scurried out of the bedroom and ran down the hall, skidding as she turned towards the kitchen. "Morning!" She shouted, holding her arms up as if to say 'Look at me, look at me!'. This was the cheery side she only ever showed around her family and maybe one or two of the soldiers and guards.

Alexander was stood in the kitchen, his eyes glued to an article in the newspaper. It was some stupid crap about the abduction of a zoo's penguin. "Pfft. I swear, this planet grows more stupid each day. And stuff like this doesn't help them" He said to himself, soon followed by a frustrated sigh. He heard noises coming from Samantha's room, so he assumed she was getting up. "Alexander! Be a dear and put the kettle on" He heard a voice call to him.

"Sure, whatever" He called back, spinning around to face the kettle. It was already full to the maximum level of water, so all he needed to do was flip the switch. It didn't do anything for a while, but then it started to bubble and he knew he could wander off to his own devices until it was done. His eyes scanned the next article, something about fatty foods. "Morons. Giving fat people an article about food is only going to make them want to eat more of it. And they're already fat, so I don't think they care about getting fatter". He often did this, sharing his opinion so openly, even when there was no one around to hear it.

He put the teabag into the cup, soon followed by a little bit of milk, then water, and afterwards a spoonfull of sugar. He stirred it thoroughly and took out the teabag. Alex left it on the side for his sister and he just stood there, reading. After about an hour of waiting, she finally jumped through the door, flailing her arms like some sort of idiot. "Your tea has gone cold. I'm not making you any more" He said bluntly, ignoring her greeting. He slammed his paper down on the kitchen side and walked out of the kitchen, then out of the door to the right of it.

Alexander inhaled some of the cold morning air, sighing contently. He wandered over to the stairs and sat down on the top one, enjoying the scenery of the village.

"Your tea has gone cold. I'm not making you any more". That was Alex's greeting. Sam held her arms up as he moved forward, "Jeez, don't kill me!" She joked, smiling. When he walked straight past her, her entire face dropped. She sighed quietly before turning and walking out the same door he did. She too walked straight past him, heading towards the boy's cabin. It wasn't far from her own cabin, which was inconvenient for her because it meant Alexander and Samantha could see whenever she went in and out.

She brought her hand up to the door and knocked on it. "Elias! Elias!" She shouted through the thick wood. She needed to ask him to do something that she couldn't trust anyone else with. "Come on, Fowler, open up". She knocked once more. She prepared her expression for when he did answer, a cute, sweet smile that she always wore when she wanted something. She held both hands neatly behind her back and kept her posture straight. She was a princess afterall, keeping up appearances was essential for her.

Sam hopped back as he bowed to allow him room to move more freely. "Hey, Elias" She said cheerily, waving slightly. "I was just wondering if you could escort me to the river not far from the village? You're literally the only one I can stand to be alone with, and I know you can protect me if something hops out to eat me" She explained, rocking in a side-to-side motion. She had that slight childlike sound to her voice.

She lifted her hands up to her face and clasped them together in a pleading motion. "Please, please, please!". Her mother had always told her that begging was inappropriate when asking a lower person to do something for them, but she'd never been one to follow the word of her mother. And this was Elias, he was somewhat of a friend to her. He was better to be around than the rest because he was quiet and he didn't ramble about stuff she didn't care about.

Sam giggled as he held a finger up to her and wandered off. She stayed exactly where she was. "What you up to?" She asked, seeing as he was taking some time. He then gestured for her to follow him, so she did. Despite being princess, she followed orders without hesitation, which was strange. Well, only when the person was rude did she ignore them.

They left the village and wandered through the forest outside the village. It was dark and creepy. She could've sworn she saw eyes watching her, and every now and then something dashed through the trees. She shuddered slightly, sticking close to Elias, being only like a centimetre away from him. She hand hovered over his arm, just incase something scared her to such an extent that she needed to grab hold of him.

Her entire opinion of the forest changed when she saw the river. It was literally one of the only places in the forest, apart from the village, that didn't have any trees to block out the majority of the light. She rushed over to the water's edge and sat down. "Thank you, Elias!" She thanked him, soon followed by a slight giggle.

Sam dipped her finger in the water, letting out a content sigh at the warmth it held. "My brother used to take me here a lot a few years back, y'know. Secretly. Before he became too busy to care with all of his duties. I suppose I shouldn't be so fussy. He's technically a king, I'd hate to be the one that distracted him from his job. I just wished he could still atleast act like he cares about me" She said quietly, her eyes avoiding him. Sam ran her fingers through her hair.

She hated to be all helpless and needy, it just felt nice to get it out. She would've even told that damned assassin his brother had taken a liking to if he were so kind as to listen. Like most average girls, she had problems with family, feelings and trust. It sucked.

Sam stood up and huffed, curling her fingers around the bottom of her shirt before pulling it off. She stripped down until she had nothing on, then jumped into the water without hesitation. For that brief moment, she'd forgotten she wasn't with her brother. Her face went bright red as the realisation hit her like a brick to the face. She had nothing to fear around her brother, but Elias was completely different. She'd never been like this around a man before.

Her body went into a motionless state, apart from how she had to paddle her feet to keep herself from drowning. She allowed her fringe to drape down infront of her eyes. "I'm extremely sorry for this.. I forgot I was with you.. My apologies.. I mean.. Yeah".

Sam eyed Elias. She faintly remembered something on his face when she undressed. 'Was it a.. blush?' She thought. Sam wasn't sure, but there was something there. A small smile crept onto her lips and she brushed her fringe from her eyes. "You don't have to face away from me, it's not like you can see me through the water" She said, annoyed by the fact that he was being so rude as to turn away from her, regardless of whether she was naked or not.

She turned around and paddled through the water and dived down deeper, her soft gaze fixed on the fish floating around her. Such beautiful fish of all different colours. It was dazzling. But when the time came that she couldn't hold her breath anymore, she lifted her head out, took a deep breath and went back in. After a while of doing this, she paddled over to the edge and rested her arms on the side, her head placed on her forearms. "What are you thinking about?" She asked, curiosity clouding her childish grin.

Sam frowned slightly. "You don't want to speak to me?". She then shook her head, "Nevermind. Don't want to pester you" She mumbled. She let her eyes linger a little while before she clambered out of the lake and padded towards her clothes. Once fully dressed, she exhaled deeply and turned to Elias. "I-.. I think I'm ready to go back now" She told him. Truth was, she wanted to stay longer, but she didn't want to hold up Elias, and it looked like he wasn't having the best of times. It was also very awkward.

With a slight sigh, she walked back the way they'd came. As she walked she watched the eyes watching her again. Something made her come to an abrupt halt, and as she did a large throwing knife skimmed her shirt, tearing it open. It shot into a tree beside her. At that exact moment she let out a loud squeel of shock. She looked over in the direction from which it had come, and her gaze turned to a glare. Another unexpected one shot from the trees, this one left a large scratch down her cheek. "Elias!" She shouted.

Sam's hand fell to the handle of her blade, hoping she didn't have to pull it out. "Help..."

She shuddered at the warmth of his coat as he wrapped it around her. She wriggled her arms into it and started to walk in the direction of the camp, staying close to Elias incase she needed to quickly jump into his arms, as awkward as it may have been. This time there was nothing dashing through the trees, no eyes, no creepy sounds. She figured Elias must've either killed all the attackers or scared them off. Either one made him look quite powerful, even slightly intimidating. She looked up at him as she walked, but remembered to look away if he met her gaze.

When they reached the village, she slowly entered through the gate, her eyes scanning the area warily incase her brother was around. She lifted her hand up to her cheek and brushed one finger over the bandage, gasping and pulling away as it began to sting. She just hoped to God it wouldn't leave a scar. She would rather die than have to live with a hideous scar on her face.

Sam approached her cabin and turned to Elias. "Thanks again for saving me. You're a brave man" She said. She stood on her tiptoes and reached up to kiss his cheek gently. Merely a friendly thanks. If she meant anything more by it, it would've been a lot more than just a peck on the cheek. As soon as she was on the floor, she skipped into her cabin.

Amanda saw Sam and Elias walk into the village and she smiled, but then Sam was hiding something on her cheek and she knew that something was wrong. When Sam made it to her cabin Amanda walked over to her with her hands on her hips. "What happened?" Sam was lucky that it was Amanda had spotted them and not Alex. Alex would blow this out of proportioned and they would have to move towns again. She gently pushed Sam into the cabin so that if Alex came out he wont see them.

Alexander stood up and wandered inside, not paying any attention to her sister, whom had just left the village with Elias, one of his most trusted guards. He closed the door behind him and watched Amanda drink her tea. He frowned slightly. "Good morning, I trust you and your little gremlin slept well" He said in a sort of questionable tone, but didn't need or want an answer. He nodded his head to her and entered his private quarters. On the little table beside his bed was a notebook and a pen pot.

He sat down, took a pencil from the pot and opened the notebook, scribbling furiously on the lined paper. If he pushed down any harder, he most likely would've broken the lead, though he refrained from doing so. He hardly had any decent pencils left because of the pressure he'd put down whilst writing.

Day 31 of my journal. It's not been a long day. It's still morning, however my boredom has driven me to write this entry. I will probably add more as the day goes on. Just a few moments ago, I saw my younger sister Samantha walk up to the boy's cabin and leave with Elias. They went out of the village together. It might be foolish of me to jump to conclusions like this, but I can't help but think something's going on there. Whether it be a close friendship or the start of a romance. I'll have to keep an eye on them in the future. Samantha cannot and will not become distracted by him. I simply won't allow it.

He let his pen drop to the table and he stood up, exiting the bedroom. It had taken him a while to come up with that alone. Alexander had never been much of a skilled writer, so it took him much longer to think of things to actually write down. He wandered through the halls and straight out the door, noticing Clara was looking around for something, or perhaps someone.

"Clara, is something wrong, dear?" He asked just loud enough for her to hear from her distance away.

Alexander stood up as the door knocked, walking slowly towards it. He heard Clara call through. 'These two just don't give up, do they?' He asked. He was sensing a sort of pattern. He would send away one, the other would come, he'd send away that one and the first one would come back, and then it would repeat. It was getting kind of tiring.

His hand gripped onto the handle and he yanked the door open, nearly pulling it off it's weak hinges. He nodded for her to come inside, then returned to his place on the couch. "What is it this time?" He asked, a slight hint of irritation in his tone.

Zantice exited the boy's cabin, his still blurry eyes glistening as the sun reflected off them. His arms stretched out and a loud yawn left his mouth. It was much needed. Even though he'd pretty much slept through a majority of the morning, he was still a little bit tired. He pulled his hood up and sighed in content as the hood shadowed his eyes. He scanned the area, seeing no one around. Zantice ran to the side and climbed up the fence, perching himself ontop of the fence, in a crouch.

There was nothing lurking about in the trees today, which was odd. Mondays were usually when the other assassins came. He assumed someone must have taken them out. They never missed a monday, the Prince simply wouldn't allow it. "Pity. I never got to kill them myself" He said, his voice dull. Even though he'd grown up around the assassins, each one of them would constantly torment him, so he would jump at the chance to kill them.

Zantice dropped from the fence and ran towards the royalty's cabin. He ran around the back and found the princess' bedroom window. He'd often go to Samantha's room and attempt to flirt with her, but he had to go the back way incase Alexander saw. He brought his hand up and tapped on the window slightly. He stood back a bit and waited for her to let him in.

Samantha's eyes shot over to the window as she heard a few taps. She cursed under her breath and rushed over to it, opening the curtains. She couldn't help but smile when she saw him, but she was still angry at him. The window opened and she poked her head out. "Zantice.. There's a front door, y'know" She said, winking at him with the eye opposite to her sister. Sam hoped he would get the hint. "I know you grew up without being around royalty, but it's still rude".

Simon stood near the gate, his eyes focussed on the little window that let him see outside the fence. There was nothing to kill today, and he mentally thanked whoever had killed them. He saw Zantice climb up the fence and that caught his curiosity. He knew Zantice was an assassin, but he never expected him to be so agile.

"There's a ladder to your right. I'm sure it would be easier to climb one of those instead" He said, though it must have been inaudible because he gave no reaction. When Zantice darted off, he allowed himself to relax, still peering through the little window.
