Description

Name: Mikhail Petrov

Appearance:
Image
Mikhail is tall and lanky, with shortly cropped blond hair and large brown eyes. He has a long, pointed nose and an impish smile. He often dresses in dark clothes, preferring a black turtlenecked t-shirt, black jeans, and traditional converse. He also wears a single black glove around his left hand, which he never takes off. He carries a matchbox in his pocket and chews on them when he's bored, thinking, or upset.

Age: 17

Power: Manipulation of gravity. He can fixate his center of gravity on any surface and manipulate it, and can also do the same with a maximum of two other people. Examples of this include hovering, wall/ceiling climbing, perfect balance, inability to be knocked down, etc.

EDIT: In the two weeks of training, Mikhail's ability has grown. He can now manipulate the gravity of a maximum ranging between five to ten people, depending on complexity (for example, he can anchor or float ten people to or above the ground, but it will not be as consistent as if he tried to anchor one person, as it is difficult to control so many points of gravity (for example, the gravity might not necessarily be weaker. He might accidentally crush that many people, or send those people barreling into the atmosphere due to lack of control). Also, if he was trying keep someone anchored to the ceiling, or help them walk up a wall, he would only be able to do it with one or two people besides himself, maximum). He can also create an area with a certain gravity that affects anything and anyone who steps or passes through it. Other examples of what he can do include crushing several objects into themselves, both simultaneously and in quick succession, leaping great lengths (like actual moon-walking), halting things traveling at great speeds, strengthening the gravity in one section of his body to maximize impact (like a super punch for his fist, or a super kick). impossibly perfect balance (tightrope walking on yarn, balancing on a baseball bat, etc) for himself and objects (not other humans yet). He is currently working on preventing things from falling.

Sexual Preference: Straight. He likes them curvy gals.

Personality: Mikhail was born to a Russian father and a French mother. Living in Europe for much of his life, he has moved around from Paris to St. Petersburg to Moscow and back to Paris. In his youth, he developed a knack for hacking, and in grade school, successfully hacked into the Swiss Bank from a rather old Windows desktop. Catching the attention of the security department of Russia, he was enlisted by the government and, having no legal guardians, was immediately enrolled in a youth spy program where he lived and worked with until recently. His psychic abilities were discovered on a mission, and he was discharged and sent to Psy Prep. He is fluent in French, Russian, Polish, English, some German and a tad bit of Chinese. He is most proud of his hacking abilities and his overall technical prowess.
Personality-wise, Mikhail holds a dry sense of humor and isn't opposed to fun. He enjoys a good time, but doesn't particularly care who with. He finds schoolwork boring, but does it anyways, and he has a bit of a second-agenda. He has enormous charisma, is polite, and finds the American culture fascinating.

Exhaling and fingering the crystal around his neck, James nodded. "Crazy. This place is filled with them..."

He glanced over to Arian, smiling a little. "You're not crazy are you? Because if you are...well it shouldnt be a terrible problem. As long as you dont try to...steal my spleen or anything. Like a crazy person....eat my ears...sell my beautiful eyes on the black market..."

She wasnt responding, drowning his words. Peering to Zoe and the rest of the gym, he wondered if the events before had ruined any chance of friendship with Arian, because more than friendship was definitely out of the question.

"I'm sorry about...your sister...and...saying...that..."

Ruffling his bronze hair, he tried a smile to her.

Hallie

Mikhail stood a good distance away, his calmness once again helping her remain calm. Truly after seeing it was Mikhail and not some guy she had ended up sleeping with without knowing, she had regained her composure.

She leaned against the wall, curling her fingers in her hair a moment to wake up fully. Then she faced him, forcing a smile. "So...you take sparring serious." Getting to her feet she recalled the moves he had pulled on her, mania in his eyes. "Care to explain yourself? I'd like to know why you deemed it necessary to smack me on the floor. I'm not a threat to you."

For a moment, Mikhail wanted to tell Hallie the truth. That he was a spy. That he had screwed up on a mission, that he lost most of his left hand in an explosion, that he almost died from a 20-story fall but was saved at the last minute by his power, which ironically got him fired.

But, old habits die hard. He smiled, and explained, "My parents enrolled me in self-defense classes when I was younger. A lot of times we'd have competitions, and a few times I got to the national level," he shrugged apologetically, "I guess my competitive streak still hasn't completely died away. So, sorry about that."

He had told the story so many times that it had become natural. In a way, he wished the story was real. That was one of the secrets to really great lying...there had to be an ounce of truth, and you had to believe it yourself. When he was younger, he had referred to his bosses as his parents, and for a short time, he really did believe his story. By the time he was old enough to know better, he had gotten so good at telling the story that he didn't need to believe it anymore.

"If you want later, I can teach you some of my moves," Mikhail offered to Hallie, grinning. "But, obviously not tonight. Speaking of, I don't think I'll be able to sleep in my room tonight on account of...well...." Mikhail cleared his throat before continuing, "I don't suppose you'd be okay with me sleeping outside your room?" He winked, smiling toothily.

James

Before James could answer Arian's question, Zoe started to cry. It wasn't obnoxious crying, the kind that made James' spine shiver uncomfortably, but a slight whimpering with obvious tears. She left quickly, embarrassment clear, but not saying a word. He hated when girls cried and he wished fleetingly that he could help her.

With a sigh, he faced Arian again, knowing Zoe wouldn't want his help anyway.

"Well," he began, hand automatically going to the blue crystal hanging around his neck. "Your sister died...your parents threw you out...or something along those lines...and your tattoo...it covers a scar." He released the crystal before it's affects started up again like before. He didn't want to pry and understood why she was asking this. "That's all I got."

Eyes expectant, he watched her absorb what knowledge he had of her. It was only flitting and fluctuating images or bits of information, nothing truly solid. He had gained enough control that he could limit such things. He hoped she wouldn't be angry with him.

Hallie

A grand hesitation erupted from Mikhail, but he smoothly gave an explanation about self-defense classes. Which wouldn't explain his hand. What work could someone so young have that would injure him this way?

But he offered to teach her some moves, which would prove useful. Against him and the other students...or whatever they were brought here to do precisely. She pulled out of her wondering though as Mikhail said, "I don't suppose you'd be okay with me sleeping outside your room?" Then he winked, his grin nearly impish.

She couldn't stop herself. "Outside? In the hall? Why would you sleep out there? I have blankets in here if you haven't noticed." Then she cringed, realizing she had just told him he could sleep in the same room as her and kind of implying the same bed. She quickly added, "I can set you up on the floor or something. James won't mind."

Her logic spilled out and now she was stuck with a boy sleeping on the floor...Plus, James would be just a few feet away as well on his bed. How did she end up with two guys as her roommates? Exhaling and fingers snagging into her hair as a headache rolled in, she hoped neither of them had any sort of attraction emotions. She so did not want to have a threesome or something. Especially if she wasn't in complete control.

Having the horrible thought, she began rummaging through her unpacked bag and boxes, looking for the more unattractive and baggy clothes she could find.

Mikhail almost laughed when Hallie said, somewhat flustered, that he could sleep on the floor in her room. Almost. He contained it to a small smirk. Trick worked every time. It would even work on him, unless he really didn't like the person. Though, in the even that it hadn't worked, he really would have slept outside her room.

"Thanks," he said, "I don't mind the floor. It's better for your back anyways." He laid down on the floor space in between the two beds and put his arms behind his head. "Ahh. The floor is a lot comfortable when you aren't falling on it." He looked over at the top of the bed and sat up. He saw Hallie pulling out some very ugly clothes from her suitcase. Judging from her fairly normal dressing style earlier, he doubted this was a fashion thing. He wondered why a girl would wear such ugly clothes to sleep in.

"Nice...pajamas?" he offered. "Not that it really matters, of course. I am sleeping in my clothes after all....not the most fashionable OR comfortable things to sleep in." Still. Usually girls wore cute pajamas. Things with Hello Kitty or Happy Bunny, or fuzzy pajama bottoms with clouds, or sometimes even some sexy lacy pink night---

Suddenly it hit him. He burst out laughing, covering his reddening face with his hands at the hilarious thought.

James

"You know, I have," he laughed, mimicking her and planting his back against the wall. "Got into some trouble though...but the past is the past." He turned his head slightly, to smile and see if she was actually okay. Part of him wanted to scry with the crystal and know for sure, but he knew that wouldn't be fair. "S'pose we should get sleep. Didn't seem like this day was too long..."

He sighed, wondering what was in store for tomorrow. Standing and holding out his hand, he asked, "Would you like me to escort you to your room?"

Hallie

Carrying her itchiest and ugliest clothes to the bathroom, she ignored Mikhail's laughter, reading that he had figured out what she was doing. She slammed the door, stifling a groan and glaring to her reflection. Maybe that's what she should do, plastic surgery, make herself hideous so no one would sleep with her. He wouldn't be laughing if he knew how it felt to wake up to a strange body, knowing he had violated you and you had completely complied without fully knowing.

She saw the tears forming in her own eyes and sniffed, wiping them away quickly and biting her tongue for a distraction. She could feel Mikhail's amusement and considered absorbing some. But she turned on the shower and managed to block him out. Slipping in under the water, she recalled one of those nights, the one where the guy hadn't pushed her to drink, hadn't pushed her to anything numbing. He had wanted her to feel what he did to her.

Already shaking, Hallie glanced down her bare leg, fingering the semi-bite mark scar. She was completely lucid and had accepted his wicked desires all night long because his twisted mind was too hard to push back. She still hadn't understood what her ability was. She didn't know she could fight it.

More tears formed and she played with the idea of staying in the shower all night long so she wouldn't have to face anybody. Crying was definitely not something she wanted anyone to see her doing. It was weak after all and she could not allow herself to be labeled as such amongst this group of psychic prodigies. She was a strong person. She didn't need anyone and what had happened to her was in the past. In the past dammit!

But she couldn't erase the images or the recollections of the pain. Nights melted into one horrible collage of nightmares and before she knew it, she was curled up under the steaming hot water, skin turning red and tears flowing freely with loud sobs. She hated her mind. She hated it. She didn't care what others felt! Why should she have to experience them? Why should others be able to push themselves onto her so easily? What had to done to deserve this? Who had she pissed off in God's court?

She squeezed her eyes shut, muttering, "I'm not good enough...I'm flawed...why would I have such awful things happen to me if I wasn't...I probably deserve it...I do...that's the only explanation..."

Mikhail took the loud slam of the door as one of those up-turned nose moments. The ones where the girl knows you're right, but she refuses to acknowledge it. He heard her turn the shower on, and he lazily looked up at the ceiling as the water fell. Soon, though, he heard a strange noise mixing with the water, and an uneasy feeling came into his stomach. Getting up, he walked over to the bathroom, ear to the door. Was she...crying?

He thought he heard her say something, but it was too quiet and jumbled to understand. He wondered if it had anything to do with his laughing at her. Whatever the reason, he didn't like to see anyone unhappy, especially a girl. Especially Hallie.

He knocked three times on the door and called out. "Hallie?" He doubted she could hear him through the shower, but he called again, leaning against the door, hands on the wood. "Hallie? Hey...I'm sorry if I made you upset. I don't really know if you can hear me, much less understand me, through the water, but I just want to let you know that you don't have to worry about...you know....any shenanigans happening. Perhaps I don't seem like it, especially after this morning, but I'm not that kind of guy."

He wondered, though, what would happen if he was "that kind of guy". Although he had a close call this morning, if he hadn't stopped to calm himself, would she too be influenced by it? Then what would happen? He had never had sex before (even though he was good at seducing women, he had never gone that far), but had Hallie? Possibly without really meaning to? Mikhail shuddered at the thought. Brushing the thought away quickly, hee called out again tentatively, wondering if she had heard him. "Hallie?"

Hallie

Hearing Mikhail's voice broke her train of thought and crashed it into reality. Suddenly realizing how much steam had built up around her and the stinging of the boiling water on her skin, she slammed the shower off and tugged the curtain open so hard for air that half of it tore off the rings. Stupid plastic.

She caught her breath. She sensed Mikhail's calmness. He was apologizing for nothing. Hallie shook her head hard to fully wake up. Rubbing a towel across the mirror, she saw her red face, eyes puffy and gross. It was obvious she had been crying. Something she couldnt have.

Numbly she pulled on the itchy bottoms but chose to tug on her tank top from earlier. She couldnt face him, anyone really. With this face, he would know for sure, though from his words it appeared he already had heard.

Slowly she leaned against the door, forehead pressed against the wood where condensation had collected a bit. Her sights were set on the tiles under her bare toes.

"Sorry," she muttered, knowing it had been rude to take off and leave him. "Its...hard sometimes..."

She turned and pressed her back to the door and slid to the floor, cuddling her knees to her chest.

Mikhail pushed his ears to the wood as he heard Hallie's soft, sad words. "Sorry. It's...hard sometimes..." He heard her sliding to the floor, and he followed suit shortly afters, crouching to his haunches, pondering her words.

It's hard sometimes. He had heard that a lot in his life, usually from his fellow co-workers. Teenage girls struggling to fit into a certain body-type, sometimes going so far as to starve themselves or overwork. Guys who weren't as strong as their peers, struggling with the lesser weights and suffering from severe yelling from their supervisors. Those that failed at a mission, and had to face the disappointment from themselves and everybody else. And worse, those that lost a team-member. They'd never forgive themselves. But, of course, in the workplace they were in, you had to move on if you wanted to stay. You had to get over it. It was only hard sometimes. Never all the time.

"I know," he agreed with her statement. He paused, then asked, "Do you want to talk about it? If not, that's fine, but....could you at least come out here? I know for a fact that it won't get easier if you just stay in the bathroom all night. For one, you'll get terrible cramps from sleeping on the tile, or even the bathtub. I can almost 100% assure you that the bed will be more comfortable. Not to mention that I won't get any beauty sleep, since I'm not leaving my post until you get out." He said the last bit teasingly, with a small smile, hoping it would lift her spirits a bit. "Please?"

James

"Pick me ups...pick me ups..." James ponder aloud. Smirking, he released Arian's hand and grabbed her hips and lifting her in a twirl. "Hows that?" he laughed, setting her down again.

Then he thought of Hallie. "My roommate might, c'mon!" He snatched her hand again. "To the dorms!"

Hallie

Once she was able to stand, Hallie opened the door a crack, seeing Mikhail crouching down. Her teeth slipped over her bottom lip, debating in confiding in him. He was right. No good sticking herself in here. Talking would help.

She stepped out, pushing her wet hair back. She wasnt sure what to say but crossed her arms over her chest once realizing it was much colder out here and she hadnt put a bra on. A forced smile crept onto her face.

Mikhail smiled when she finally left the bathroom. He stood up, easing the gravity on his knees. "Nice to see you," he said, hooking his thumbs in his belt loops.

She didn't respond, but instead covered her chest with her arms tightly, if a bit hurriedly. She had kept the ugly shorts, but for her top she was wearing a tank top from before. No bra straps, he noticed. She smiled at him, but it didn't look genuine.

Taking a step towards her, he unhooked his thumbs and brought his arms around Hallie. He pulled her into a hug, and held her. Since she was much shorter than him, her head came up to his chest, his arms encircled around her upper arms. He kept his mind clean of the thoughts she might have been afraid he'd think, instead enjoying the embrace as a friendly, comforting one.

After a few moments, he bent his head towards her ear, and told her gently: "See? You don't have to worry about me. Any emotions you are feeling now are all your own. But I think you already know that."

James

They reached Dorm 6 quicker than expected, James impressed with his own directional skills. He pulled his key out and then found the door was unlocked. Good. He could ask Hallie right away.

He pulled Arian in with one hand, the other ruffling his bronze hair as he cast a smirk down to her. When they entered the room however, he found Hallie not alone, embracing that blonde kid from before.

"Oh...didnt mean to interupt," he announced, anger spilling out. He hadnt realized how irritated he was with this guy until then. What he had Scryed and what that kid had done to both Hallie and James himself. Seeing him embracing Hallie didnt feel right. He was a player, women scattering his life everywhere. The crystal on James' chest warmed.

"So whats the speal tonight Mikky? Tryin' to get under the covers action?"

After seeing Hallie freakout last night, he knew she wasnt in control of these things. If he could stop it, he would. It wasnt right.

Hallie

Eyes narrowed, Hallie felt James' burst of anger hit her square in the chest, taking her breath momentarily. Her fingers curled around Mikhail's sleeve. "Take your deal elsewhere," she spat, seeing a girl at her roommates side. No way was she going to sleep next to that mess of hormones. More than likely she would become involved.

Peering up to Mikhail she wondered how he could still be so calm. Headache forming, she leeched off of him without thinking, grip tightening on him. What was James' trauma? Bringing such emotions up against her. She thought he understood how this worked.

Arian could feel her own anger rising in her chest. She stepped in front of James and calmly stared around the room. "I'm sorry I don't really know you but I think you should listen to him. He has a knack of knowing things." She tried really hard not to glare at the guy. She didn't really like being called someone's deal and she thought about using her powers on both of them. No she couldn't do that. It was just wrong...

Mickey? He hadn't heard that in a while.

The bronze-haired boy from earlier had burst in with another girl, and even though he and Hallie were only hugging, he seemed mad as hell. Was this Hallie's roommate? That would make his name....John? James? No, it was James. Whatever the name, Hallie didn't seem too pleased to see him or the girl he brought. The girl Mikhail also slightly remembered at the gym. She was defending James, explaining that he had a "knack of knowing things." The back of his neck hair rose when he heard that. What sort of things did he know? And how much did he know about him?

He felt his calm draining away, like before. Hallie's grip on him had tightened, and although he had planned to cut off the embrace after the angry remarks from the newcomers, he decided to hold it to help her out. Although he felt his heart racing faster, he had enough control to maintain the oncoming panic of possibly being discovered. He forced it to a minimum, and faced James and the girl.

"Perhaps you should hear the whole story before assuming unsightly things, James," Mikhail said, hoping that was his name, "This may look compromising, but there is nothing between us that would go beyond a friendly, comforting hug. And, even if there were, I'd like to know how that affects you personally and why you are so worried. Should you be concerned for her power, than I'd also like to ask why you brought along yet another girl to the room. I don't want to assume pretentiously, but I'll make an educated guess that it wasn't going to be for an intellectual discussion. And as for you," he looked at the girl, "It isn't necessarily the knowledge of things, but rather how you use that knowledge. Information is easy to skew when no one else knows it. Should you not know the capital of Europe, I could tell you Paris, and you'd probably believe me, even though in reality, (as I do hope you know) Europe has no capital."

What is going on between these guys? Arian wasn't enjoying the tension in the room, nor what the guy was talking to her about. Something was different about him. Sure, maybe James didn't know the whole story about Mikhail's past, but she doubted it would change much. Feeling her blood start to boil, she took a deep breath. She couldn't let her powers get the best of her, but this man was making her sound like a slut, and she did NOT appreciate that. Especially when he spoke so calmly. She could tell he was having a hard time though, and Arian decided to find out what would happen if he was pushed just a little further.

"I'm sure you and Hallie weren't going to do anything more than what you say, even if you were, it's none of my business. There has to be a reason James is acting the way he is though and if you think telling your story is the way to change his mind, then enlighten us, but as of this moment, he doesn't look very sympathetic. So I would make it fast."

James

Smiling to Arian as she took the floor, James allowed his eyes to narrow and sent a smirk to Mikhail. He was cornered. He had to give it up and admit defeat. Hallie would learn he was a player and a liar and she would be safe from doing anything against her will. Who's the best roommate? James laughed in his mind.

Hallie seemed to be having a rough time though, and James suddenly remembered that Mikhail wasn't the only one putting her in danger. Part of him groaned. He had to keep everything in check around her until she learned to control her ability. It was kind of annoying, but he took a few breaths, calming down a bit. It proved difficult though, with Mikhail standing right there.

Hallie

"What...is he talking about?" Hallie was staring at James and feeling his anger grow hot inside of her body, but her own confusion fought against it. She turned her eyes to Mikhail, confused. She didn't appreciate all the harsh words being thrown around. Even Mikhail's calmness had wavered.

Pulling away from him and leaning against the wall, she pressed her palms to her eyes and tangled her fingers in her hair. She considered going back into the bathroom, but then figured she would still be able to feel them. All of them were too much. She had to get out.

Snatching a sweatshirt from the floor, Hallie dove out of the room, hand to her forehead as the urge to vomit washed over her like an ocean wave.

These two were really getting annoying.

Especially James. Mikhail really couldn't stand that smirk on his face. Who did he think he was?

Hallie had left, overwhelmed by the emotions, he supposed. Or she really didn't want to see where this was going. Her confusion was evident in her question, and Mikhail could just see the trust between them crumbling down. But, in a way, he was glad she left. Now there was nothing stopping
him.

Mikhail clapped patronizingly. "Congratulations, you two," he said sarcastically, walking towards James, "I'm sure you think you've won. You are probably expecting me to confess something, yes? Checkmate. You're cornered. Put 'em up in the air. You've got nowhere else to run. The game is up. That sort of thing, right? Just like the movies. Well, let me tell you something, Jim." Mikhail emphasized the nickname, saying it in an exaggerated American accent as he stopped walking, barely a foot away.

"If you had so much as an inkling as to who I am," he said in a tone that was dangerously soft and dead-serious, "then you'd know that I've played this game for a long, long time. So don't even think for a second that I'm going to give up now just because some high-and-mighty amateurs think they have me on the rocks."

Mikhail had jabbed his left first-finger at James' chest when he said the word "amateurs". To his brief surprise, he felt something hard. Almost rock hard. Noticing a chain around the guy's neck, he put two and two together. No way a straight guy would wear a necklace that large. There had to be an important reason. He looked back at James.

"Speaking of rocks..." he muttered, smiling darkly as he took his hand away. He started towards the door.

"If I were you," he said ominously, "I'd watch what I say from now on. You never know what might happen, and I can't guarantee that you'll be able to blame me." He pulled the door open, and called over his shoulder: "You two have a good night." before shutting the door.

Hallie was nowhere in sight--he guessed that she had tried to get as far away as possible--and quite frankly, he wasn't in the mood to go chasing her down and possibly upsetting her more. What he really needed was a computer. He walked around the school for a good half hour searching for the library. When he finally found it, he hacked into one of the computers, despite having a pre-existing log-in. His irritation with James's arrogance and that stupid,
know-nothing girl coupled with the slight paranoia at being found out had put him in a hell of a mood. What did they know? They seemed like the silver-spoon type, with loving parents who were there for them, even when they didn't want them to be, and complained about stupid things like relationships and cars and school, without having to worry about when their next meal was and whether they'd live to see the next day or not. Their cockiness was disgusting. So they discovered a spy. Did they really expect him to just spill the beans, to just tell them everything like it was some offering for the gods? Gods. That was it. That was what they thought they were. It was definitely how they acted.

Mikhail hacked into Yahoo! for the hell of it, changing the color scheme up a bit before leaving a link behind on 4chan that would lead the unlucky user to a series of never ending genital pictures that would force him or her (but most likely him) to restart his browser. In an attempt to cool down, Mikhail tried hacking into the Swiss Bank again, but gave up about half-way. They had changed the coding again, which wasn't impossible, but he wasn't in the mood to figure it out and closed the tab. After about an hour more of surfing, he fell asleep at the computer in the middle of his tenth Tetris game, the music still faintly playing.

James

Mikhail gave his speal. Stormed out. James blinked a few times at the new silence then glanced to Arian.

"Not quite the pick-me-up you wanted, huh?"

Falling back on his bed, he sighed, half-worried about Hallie but satisfied he had separated them at least. His work was done for the day. Sitting up, he smiled to Arian, glad she had had his back. For some reason it made her much more likeable.

"So...do you still want to hangout or...go to sleep?"

Hallie

She had found a library. Glad for the quiet, she found the fantasy section, smelling dust and aged pages, before collapsing in a dark corner onto the carpet. Her sobs had subsided, headache weakening. Her eyes flitted over the various dragon or fairy related titles. It took a lot not to think about what just happened, but eventually she couldnt help it.

James was acting like an ass, but based on Mikhail's reaction, her roommate had struck a nerve in the blonde boy.

So. He was lying about something. Big surprise...Hallie sighed, curling around herself and closing her eyes. Guys sucked and she vowed to never allow herself to be so vulnerable around Mikhail again. Even if James' allegations werent too serious, it was still a lie. The way he stood, they way he fought...Hallie knew he was hiding something. She wasnt about to involve herself in some drama. Drama was pointless.

Maybe she should just avoid him altogether. Avoid everyone.

As she drifted off, she nodded in her mind in consent.

Yes. Avoid everyone. Sounds splendidly void of othersm emotions.

Mikhail woke with a start, the PA blaring about meeting outside. Muttering some unsightly curses in German (such a nice language to be angry in), he glared at his watch. He moaned when he saw the time and dropped his head on the keyboard. The computer immediately emitted a loud beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep in response. Cursing loudly, this time in a mixture of Russian and German, he hit a couple keys to shut it off. The tetris screen was still on, asking him if he wanted to play again. Not likely. He exited out, briefly checked CNN International, and shut the computer off. He stretched back in his chair, pushing it so that it was balancing on two legs. It was leaning farther than any regular chair could without falling, and Mikhail lowered it until it was hardly an inch off the ground. He stared at the high ceiling for a bit before lunging forward and bringing the chair with him to its original position. He got up and searched for the exit. Outside shouldn't be that difficult to find. The issue was where outside, exactly.

A sudden urge overcame him, and quickly ran out the nearest door in search of a bathroom. He proved lucky, as the door he picked led out to the hallway, and the bathrooms were in sight. He relieved himself with a sigh, and as he washed his hands he checked his appearance in the mirror. Good grief. How late did he stay up? There were dark circles under his eyes, his hair the result of desk-head, and his cheek had keyboard imprints on them. His shirt was also painfully wrinkled. He'd have to change.

Via GPS, he found his dorm, and tentatively unlocked the door. He peered inside. It was dark, and he could see his roommate asleep on his bed. He wasn't sure where the other guy was (frankly, he didn't want to know) and quietly stepped inside. He quickly located the suitcase with his clothes, and pulled out a dark t-shirt. Slipping it on, he decided to bring his Spider Man windbreaker as well. It was light, but warm, and if Hallie, or any girl for that matter, felt cold, he'd be prepared this time. He pulled out his toothbrush and made his way to the bathroom. He grinned when he saw the jacket on him. It brought back happy memories. He had gotten it at Universal Studios, on a small, hard-earned vacation with a couple of fellow co-workers. They had all bought jackets with the Avengers, and since someone took Iron Man and Captain America (the latter of which Mikhail had really wanted for irony's sake), Mikhail had quickly nabbed Spider Man. Spitting out the toothpaste, he wiped his face, and headed back into the bedroom. He eyed the window, and smiled toothily.

Within a few seconds, Mikhail was clinging to the outside of his bedroom wall. In Spider Man fashion, he climbed up the building to the top of the roof. Peering out at his surroundings, he found a gathering of students, waiting. That was probably where he needed to go. He backed up from the edge, took a breath, and started running towards the edge. With a leap, he flew off the top of the building, adrenaline pumping. He forced the ugly memory of his previous, unintentional fall off a building to the back of his mind. Not now. Right now, he was Spider Man.

He landed softly, gravity adjusted so that it felt like he was stepping off a stair. As he went back to default gravity, he walked over towards the group of students. Lingering in the back, as always, he pulled out his iPod and plugged in his earphones. Britney Spears's "Toxic" started blaring in his eardrums, and he sighed happily. So far, so good.

You're toxic, I'm slippin' under...
Mikhail bobbed his head slightly, mouthing silently along to the pop song. Oh, Britney. You always know how to cheer a guy up.
With a taste of a poison paradise
He was in such a good mood, that he didn't even scowl too much when he noticed Jimbo.
I'm addicted to you, don't you know that you're toxic?
Though he was still pretty annoying...
And I love what you do, don't you know that you're toxic?
Mikhail watched the American's actions with seemingly indifferent eyes. Seemingly.
It's getting late to give you up
He was flirting with that girl from yesterday. Not that it was surprising. Almost boring, actually.
I took a sip, from my devil's cup
The guy leaned against a tree. Mikhail flitted his gaze upward.
Slowly
He smiled
It's taking over me
And focused his gaze
Too high, can't come down
It wasn't an apple tree...
It's in the air
Was it chestnut?
And all around
Ah. Perfect.
Can you feel me now?
With a crack, several chestnuts loosened from their branch and fell on top of James, hitting him squarely on top of his head. Mikhail had to suppress himself, and although he looked unassuming on the outside, inwardly he was cracking up.
With a taste of your lips, I'm on a ride
Mission accomplished.
