A girl who masks her deep sadness by bringing joy to others.

0 · 435 views · located in Steven Universe

a character in “Quality Rocks”, as played by RedFox

Description

Name: Seven

Age: 16

Homeworld/Earth bound?: Stuck on Earth!

Gem/Human/other?: Human.

Gem type(if applicable):

Gem placement(if applicable):

Appearance: Seven is fairly tall with a slim, lanky figure. She has a boyish body type with a flat chest and not many curves. She has cool-toned soft black hair with blunt bangs that falls down to the middle of her torso, curling slightly at the ends. She is pale with honey brown eyes, and if you look closely you can see faint freckles dotting along her button nose. She has thick lips and a gap in her two front teeth, which is apparent when her lips part or when she smiles or speaks. She's usually seen wearing boring clothes, mostly blacks and grays.

Quick personality synopsis: Despite her dreary appearance, she is a very happy individual. She is quick to cheer people up and make jokes, and is very selfless, and in fact, never really talks about herself at all. She's always smiling and having a good time. At least, as first glance she is...

Weapon(if applicable): She is completely useless in fighting.

Quick history synopsis: A lot of things about her past go unsaid, as she doesn't speak of it. What is known is that she lives with only her mother, and she has no siblings. She picked up the violin at a very young age.

Any last thoughts?: There is a lot to be discovered >:) Also, I'm sorry for the incredibly short bio. Check my list of characters and I can prove I just really want to jump into this roleplay immediately.

So begins...

She had to get out of the house. She slammed the door behind her, jamming her hands into the pockets of her dark gray sweatshirt. She left it unzipped, exposing her plain lighter gray shirt underneath. She wore gray jeans that had obviously been over-worn, and old black and white sneakers.

She began to make her way into town with the intent of wandering around. She had moved to this town just over two weeks ago and had kept to just her bedroom and her backyard mostly, but she suddenly felt the desire to explore her new area, since she couldn't deny the fact that it was her home now.

The sun was glaring brightly above her, but a cooling wind caught on her hair and made it dance behind her. She took in a deep breath, ready for her new beginning.

Amethyst, still a purple falcon, just happened to look up as a black figure came near. Well, the figure wasn’t black in the sense of being a shadow, however close that description could fit her, but more black in the way she apparently hated rainbows. Her overall moody disposition didn’t help too much either.

“Whoa-HO! Someone’s unhappy!” the gem taunted, letting out an obnoxious laugh.

She sprang up and flew onto the girl’s head.

“Hey, want some donut? They have limited-edition GIANT donuts right now!” Her face was peaking down from above, almost completely covering the girl’s line-of-sight.

She didn't think about the voice that called out until she picked up on the word 'unhappy'. Her head snapped up, looking for the source of the sound, when a large object covered her line of sight. She jumped slightly, lips parting and eyes widening, but no noise escaped her. Once she got over her initial shock, however, she assessed the situation and replied in the way she knew would be best.

And so, she gave a giant, gleaming smile. Despite the talking falcon, and the weirdness of the situation, and what had just happened at home, she had the face of someone who had just won the lottery. "That sounds great!"

Amethyst paused for a moment, bewildered. That wasn’t the reaction she normally received. However, soon enough she recovered, sounding off a laughing fit and hopping off the girl’s head and onto the ground. And by the time her feet met the floor she had changed her shape into that of the girl’s, except more purple than black.

“Oh man,” the gem began, swinging her arm around the girl’s shoulders, “if that doesn’t faze you then you’re gonna’ fit right into this town! Hahaha… I’d actually kind of hate to think of what you must’ve seen in your other place to think THIS is normal.”

Amethyst actually didn’t know if the girl was really a newcomer or not, she just kind of assumed since she seemed kind of unfamiliar.

She laughed along with the... girl? Falcon? It felt weird to have her own form pressed up against her side. Up this close, she could see how noticeable the gap in her teeth really was, and how incredibly scrawny her form. "Where's that doughnut, falcon girl? You got me all excited!" She flashed a crooked grin, her eyes glinting mischievously.

Why was she so okay with this? She had never seen anything remotely magical in her life. Was she numb? Or was she just accepting of the fact that the world has secrets that she'll never understand? At this point in her life, if she hadn't of learned to roll with the punches, she'd be in a very bad place indeed.

Amethyst grinned and shapeshifted back into her normal self.

“I like your way of thinking!”

Sadie perked up from her bored expression upon Amethyst entering the shop.

“Back so soon? Came to pick one up for Steven?”

“Haha, nah, that kid doesn’t need any sugar.” The gem picked up two more giant donuts and gave one to the girl.

“You didn’t replace the poor boy, did you?” Sadie laughed, acknowledging the new girl.

“Haha nah, she’s just a fellow food enthusiast.”

She smiled appreciatively after the doughnut was handed to her, immediately taking a large bite. With sugar coating the bottom half of her face, she waved to the shorter girl who looked to be about her age. "Hi! I'm Seven. Like the number." Her words were slightly morphed due to her face being stuffed with food.

Her eyes glanced down at the perfectly warm food in her hands. She wasn't used to receiving gifts. She smiled a little private smile to herself, swallowed her bite, and then took another.

“Nice to meet you, Seven. I’m Sadie. Normally there’s another guy, Lars, who works here, but today he… um, called in sick? I guess?” Her voice trailed off for a moment.

“Anyway, are you new here? I heard there was a house for sale here a while ago, but I didn’t realize someone had already moved in.”

Amythest was too busy enjoying her donut to pay attention to anything else.

“Yeah, that’s pretty much how it goes.” Sadie laughed, getting out a spray bottle and towel to aimlessly clean off the countertop.

”There’s a friend of mine, a kid named Steven, who lives with that purple girl. There are… two others, at least I think, and they all live together. They’re, well…” she thought for a moment, ”magic beings, or something. It sounds crazy, but I guess after meeting her it’s easier to believe.”

"Hm. Interesting." She absentmindedly continued on her food, staring into space. Then, after a couple seconds of thought, her face lit up. "I want to meet them!" She looked at the purple girl next to her. "Do they shapeshift like you?"

Amythest scoffed at the girl’s question, finishing off her donut.

“They would if they weren’t such hard asses.”

She found this strange. If she had the power to shapeshift, she would do it all the time. They must have some pretty strong motives to not do it. Still, a group of magical beings was exactly what her life needed. Then she could focus on it instead of...

She stuck the last of the doughnut into her mouth, savoring the flavor before swallowing.

She gave her a giant smile. "It was delicious. Do you make them yourself, or are they store bought? Either way, I am impressed by your taste."

Sadie laughed. "Don't ask me, we just get them from corporate."

"AMETHYST!" Pearl angrily bolted in.

In response, Amethyst simply rolled her eyes. "And here comes Buzzkillington."

"Amethyst you KNOW we have an important mission today!"

"Yeah, yeah. Just wanted a little snack." Amethyst yawned and stretched her arms out. "And ya'know, a nap sounds pretty good now, too."

Pearl angrily rested her head in her hand. "Huff, Garnet should've been the one to come get you. I am NOT in the mood for this!"

Suddenly a skinny bird lady entered the shop. Seven turned around, wiping the excess sugar off of her mouth. Judging by her appearance, this was one of the other two magical beings Sadie mentioned. She seemed extremely uptight compared to the purple falcon girl. Maybe the other two just aren't the type who would shape shift.

"Who's this?" She leaned over and whispered to Amethyst.

“No one, just the reaper of all things fun and enjoyable.” Amethyst replied.

She really didn’t want to leave, but she knew that she’d have to go sooner or later (preferably sooner before Garnet showed up) anyway, so she brushed herself off and headed for the door.

From a platform just a few feet in front of Alan, an intense light filled the room, and once it died down it revealed four figures. One of them was in the middle of speaking.

“And so, anyway, that’s the main reason we’ve come here.” Pearl was explaining to Steven.

All of their eyes casually landed on the man in front of them.

”Woah.”

“W-W-WHAT!? A HUMAN!? HERE!?” Pearl jumped up and instinctively latched onto Garnet’s arm. ”Garnet, what’s a human doing here?”

”I don’t know. But as long as he hasn’t messed with anything, it’s not our problem.”

”HEEEEEY-“ Steven’s voice broke out, pointing at the man. ”I RECOGIZE YOU! What are you doing all the way out here!?”

☆☆☆

Back at Beach City, Aaron was casually going down the boardwalk.

“Glad that my shift is finally over.” He mumbled to himself.

Out of the corner of his eye he noticed a dark-haired girl, the one that had only just moved in a couple weeks ago. It was kind of odd- he caught site of her a few times when delivering mail to her house, but he couldn’t remember actually seeing her in town before.

Wonder what that’s all about…
