Braith Castern

NPC

0 · 414 views · located in Khadian

a character in “Quest for the Everstone”, as played by xXxCryptic-AngelxXx

Description

Name: Braith Castern
Age: 17
Gender: male
Appearance: Image
Personality: Braith is a bit apathetic and is incredibly blunt. The only thing he really understands is getting where he wants to be which is a position of power. A place where he can be seen and loved without all the effort it took to make relations with someone. He's selfish, but not unkind. You just have to know the right thing to ask of him. He's lived a life without love, maybe some love or friendship could bring him back to the light. Make him realize that there's more to this world then the power he wants.
Wish: power
Weapon of choice: Bo shuriken (throwing needles)
Kingdom: Hannivall
Background: Braith's parents left him as a baby to fend for himself in the outside world. As. A. Baby. Realistically, he had no hope, but if someone found him, he would survive. And someone did. Roderick Von Firth. He raised the boy, but not as his own. No. The boy was without magic and so of no great use to the man beyond that of a servant and so he raised the child to do his bidden. Not exactly a loving relationship, but Braith loved Roderick as a father and would do most anything for him. But he would also enjoy an opportunity at power. So he's given a mission from Roderick that he would never refuse. Find the others and spy.

So begins...

The princess watched and listened as the others gave their piece. She smiled at the little boy and wished she could be there to offer some comfort, though it seemed he was doing the comforting. The princess's smile was sad as she explained, "I'm.. not entirely sure how we can get the medicine to him in as quick of time as he needs it. Maybe.." Her gaze moved to the edge of the mirror where she assumed her love, Clive, stood. "Clive, do you know of an herb or anything that would help?" She looked back to Carina. "What exactly is his ailment? Also, Rowas, was it? You're forgiven. As I said. this is a lot to take in."

Roderick Von Firth stood, glaring at the mirror. He hadn't seen the princess for hours now and silently began to wonder if she had found a way to escape. Then he shook his head, waving his hand at the air as if to dispel the thought. It was impossible to escape that realm without breaking the mirror her soul was originally trapped in. He made sure to ask the mages and scribes to confirm and they had, albeit reluctantly. The fools still held allegiance to the fallen royalty, though they'd never admit it. Not to Roderick's face. Maybe he could make an example of them...but no. He needed their minds.

He heard footsteps behind him and turned. There stood guards and a young man with pale hair and piercing blue eyes. Roderick grinned. They found the boy as instructed. He rubbed his hands together. Excellent.

"Braith!" He greeted the boy, stepping towards him and taking his wrist in his hand. The boy returned it with a nod of his head. "Good to see you, my boy. Have the guards passed on my instructions?" Braith nodded, ever the silent spy. Then he said, "Yes, my lord. And I look forward to the Everstone being whole again." He brushed some of his pale hair from his eyes. "Good. Here. Take this as well. It'll allow you to talk to Arwen." Braith smirked as he took the small, polished hand mirror. The guards had told him of the man who left under Roderick's employ, but failed to make his first report. He would make his Lord proud. Roderick didn't even have to pay him a single piece of copper to partake in such a mission. He was to receive some funds, but only as a means to stay alive. "Just tap the glass and she'll come to you. As for a shard, unfortunately, you're on your own. However, you have a stunning sixth sense for someone without magic so I'm sure you'll find another shard soon. "

Braith merely nodded and was escorted from the room. Roderick was left grinning madly once more at the mirror. He reached out with a hand and tapped on the surface, the sound echoing throughout the mirror realm. If she didn't show, he would have to punish the young princess the only way he knew how. Threatening her body. He was working on furthering his plan with the corpse like body anyway. He just needed a proper soul. "Guards" he commanded, "Bring me Dorina."

Braith roamed the grounds beyond the castle, waiting for the sound of a snick that told him magic was nearby. The longer he traveled, the further from the castle he had to journey until he was at the Glass Lake. That's when he felt it. An unexplainable tug at his core. A shard was nearby. He walked to the calm, glassy surface of the lake and gazed into the pool of water. He could hear the humming, but beyond his light blue eyes staring back at him, he didn't see anything of consequence. Just a strange blackish stone that suddenly seemed clear in a blink and then blacke once more. Well that certainly seemed magical to Braith. He reached down and wrapped his fingers around the stone. The world seemed to disappear from around him. In a blink, he was somewhere else. Somewhere dark.

He could still feel the cool surface of the stone in his hand and he smirked. Step one: complete. He held tight to the stone, hoping whatever it did would be of some use, and began to walk. Off in the distance he could hear voices. This was easier than he thought.

((sorry for tossing another character in so soon and so quickly. I need to start moving Roderick's plans forward and I need this character type. Since Claw seemed to have abandoned the rp (who played this role as Jurgan or whatever) I have instead given the task to Braith. He won't come into play until my next post though.))

Viola watched, eyelids growing heavy. She shook her head hoping to dispel her exhaustion for only a moment or two more, but it was not a success. She rubbed at her eyes with the back of her hand and stifled a yawn. "I'll keep watch for the night Clive offered her. She opened her mouth to object, but had very little reason to do so. Instead, she nodded and moved to her mossy bed and laid down to sleep. Almost as soon as her head rested on the moss, she was unconscious and moving through a very different realm than the one the princess currently occupied: The dream realm.

The princess watched and listened to the others. She didn't have much else to say to the group now that everyone was calmer. Well.. there was one thing she could say. "Thank you, everyone," she said. It was soft, but the strength of her voice allowed her words to carry through the cave. "I know it wasn't easy and many of you didn't even choose to be here, but thank you." As the others lay down for sleep, she heard a knocking. It was faint and distant, but there was no mistaking who was on the other side of the surface the knock originated from. Roderick. She clenched her jaw and her hands curled into fists once more. By the end of this journey she would have nail marks permanently scared into her palm. She looked sadly at Clive and said, "He calls to me. I have to return when he does. He has my body and if I ever want to be with you again, I need it to be in one piece." She kissed her fingers and pressed them to the glass before turning and moving towards the sound.

Roderick stood before her, that terrifying mad grin etched into his features. "What do you want?" The man continued to grin. "Now, now. Is that any way to address the person in charge of your body?" She glared but bowed slightly at the waist, her arms flourishing a little. "What can I help you with Lord Von Firth?"

"That's better. I need nothing at all from you actually. I just wanted to make sure you knew who was in charge. Be on your way to wherever you are. Know that when I seek information. You're to give it to me. Otherwise I cannot promise the safety of your body."

Anger rose up in her chest and she backed from the surface. She didn't want to give the man satisfaction of watching her react to his words. As quickly as she left, she returned, knocking on the surface so Clive knew she was there.

Meanwhile, the guards had retrieved the bodacious and blonde woman that Roderick had requested: Dorina. Roderick kissed her softly on the cheek. More as a mark of ownership and not of fondness. "Dorina I have a request of you and I'm sure you would not object." The woman grinned at him, the kind that echoed his own. "My love, what did you have in mind?"

Braith stood in the darkness of the cavern, watching his targets as they prepared to settle down for the night. The group seemed awfully big and he didn't want to add to the noise. It seemed they were taking off towards a town in the morning and he decided it was the perfect opportunity to join in the fun. He sat down and leaned against the wall. He closed his eyes and allowed himself to rest for the night. Tomorrow his work would being and he was going to make his master proud.

Clive nodded towards Carina in a silent you're welcome and headed back towards the center of the cave. He looked at the mirror and once again saw the beautiful face of the princess looking back at him. Even when he was back home and everything was normal he couldn't spend so much time with her. It was a sad fact that a terrible tragedy had to happen for them to spend a decent amount of time together. Clive knew with both Arwen's and his schedule and duties it would always be difficult to find time but this incident forced him to see how great it would be if they were actually together. The thought of it both scared him and made him incredibly happy, that is until he thought about the possibility of failing this quest. He shook that idea from his thoughts. He would NOT fail! Arwen suddenly had a look of confusion on her face then annoyance. She kissed her fingers and touched them to the glass as a form of goodbye and Clive did the same on the mirror opposite Arwen. He smiled to her as she left, hoping to give her courage to face the traitor Roderick. He walked over towards the front of the cave and sat near the fountain. The prince used his re-found earth power to send tiny shock waves into the ground. Each shock wave would bonce off objects and it made something like a 3D map in his head. He saw the steady breathing of everyone in the room. The only exception was the boy who was sound asleep next to his sister. His heart beat a bit differently and he could tell he was sickly. Once everyone near was accounted for he pushed further out with his powers so he could be better aware of his surroundings. He began to map outside until every rock and boulder was accounted for in his map up to as far as his powers could reach. After he finished with the outside he ventured inside the cave. It wasn't long before he felt another heart beat not too far from the group. He focused hard on that object but it seemed as if the source of the heart beat was asleep. He silently walked across the room and sat down at the very end of the cave where the light from the fire ended. Clive was no fool, He set his sword off his belt and rest it on his thigh. He held his hand on it's hilt and closed his eyes. He wouldn't sleep but it helped him focus more on controlling his power. There was one thing the prince knew for certain though, There was no way anyone could beat him when he was surrounded by rock. A couple minutes after he set himself up to protect the group, Arwen returned and tapped on the mirror. He opened his eyes and almost broke the connection. He kept it going slightly in the background, just enough to keep watch of the stranger and spoke to the princess. "There's someone else in the cave with us but they don't seem to be making a move. It might be another shard holder but just in case I'm keeping an eye out." He showed her his smile again like he always did to cheer her up before he spoke again. "What did the traitor want?" He said curiously.

Clive knew what Carina was going through. Maybe his brother didn't have a severe sickness but he often got hurt and Clive always felt like he needed to protect him. "For now let me take care of protecting him." He smiled kindly. "I have somewhat of an idea of where you can get a bow but for now it does your brother no good to stay awake worrying." Clive stood up and put his hand on Carina's shoulder for comfort. "Get some sleep we have a long day tomorrow." He stepped away and walked over to the water fountain. What was he doing promising to protect people. He knew he had his power back but he needed to focus on bringing Arwen back. Clive looked down at the fountain and saw his face. He looked tired but he could tell from the look on his face that he had purpose. He cupped water in both hands and splashed it on his face. Instantly he felt revitalized again. The prince walked over to the wall he created earlier and sat down. He brought the mirror to his face and smiled at the sight of the princess staring back at him. Still keeping an eye on the intruder in the cave, he talked to Arwen until the rain stopped.

Right when the rain stopped the sun came up. He hadn't realized how long they had been talking but it was good to be able to catch up. Clive moved the earth to create an opening in the wall leading outside. The brightness of the sun made it difficult for his eyes to adjust. It was about time for the group to get up. He thought about the best way to do that without making everyone worry so he turned back and looked at the wall he had created last night. A large wall of earth with a funnel like contraption made of earth coming out the center and reaching into the sky. He motioned his hand down and the wall fell silently down into the earth. He did his best to remove the shock wave of the earth retreating into itself. As it fell, light from outside flooded into the cave. Clive threw his arms into the air and stretched. It wouldn't be much longer until everyone inside woke up.

Carina nodded her head and went and laid down next to Altair and went to sleep. Later on Altair woke up seeing the sunshine and he stood up looking at Clive who was stretching. Altair walked to Clive and looked up at him with a smile on his face. "Good morning!" he said cheerfully. "Did you have any kind of fun last night watching over us? Did Carina sleep at all? Did you sleep at all? Is the Princess okay?" Altair flooded Clive with many questions but being 8 years old, it was kind of Altairs thing. Carina sat up looking over towards Altair and saw him talking with Clive. She smiled slightly remembering what Clive had said that night. She sighed in relief to see that Altair was okay and his health wasn't effecting him just yet. But she knew she needed to find a way to get medicine for him fast. And soon. She stood up and walked over to Altair kissing him on the forehead. "Morning Altair. Morning Clive." she said her eyes looking up towards Clive. She looked around and saw the others still sleeping and looked back towards Altair. "Come on Altair lets go to the water fountain so I can clean your face up." She smiled as he nodded and walked to the fountain. She turned towards Clive and looked at him "Thank you, for what you said last night. I appreciate it." She said as she started walking to the fountain.

When she got to the fountain Altair had already begun splashing his face with water. She knelt down next to him and and began washing the dirt off his face. "Hey Carina." He whispered to her quietly looking around to see if anyone else had woken up yet or could hear them. She looked up at him with a confused look on her face. "What?" She said in her normal tone of voice. He quickly covered her mouth with his hands and shushed her. "Carina. Whisper." he said looking around again. He removed his hands from over her mouth and looked back at her leaning towards her. "Haven't you noticed how familiar he looks?" he whispered looking towards where Clive was standing. Carina's eyes went to Clive as well. "Yes he looks familiar but no I don't know where from. He probably just looks like someone from home." she whispered back to him going back to washing his face off. "I know who he looks like!" he said a little louder with a bright smile on his face. Carina laughed and rolled her eyes, deciding to amuse her brother. "Okay. And who does he look like then?" she said turning to start washing her face. He leaned towards her and whispered "He looks like the prince!" he said smiling. She looked at him with a shocked look on her face. "The prince? Really?" she said. "Yes! That's him!" He said happily. She looked at her brother and couldn't contain her laughter anymore. "Are you serious? Altair that isn't the prince. When we get home we need to get your eyes checked." she said laughing as she turned back towards the fountain and continued to wash her face. "I'm not joking Carina! It's him!" He said loudly then quickly looked around to see if anyone woke up. "Altair. He is not the prince. Okay? The prince wouldn't be here. And in case you didn't realize, the prince is at home helping people there! He has Earth powers. Not water. Now drop the subject. Even claiming that he was him, could cause issues for him. " she said finishing up her face. He sighed looking down at the ground. "But Carina!" he said crossing his arms. "I said drop it Altair. That isn't him! So let it go." She said angrily. "This is not a time to joke around like that." She said standing up. He sighed and nodded as she walked away towards where they slept. "But I know that's him." he mumbled to himself looking down.

Carina walked over to where Viola was and leaned down slightly tapping her on the shoulder. "Viola. Viola, it's time to wake up." she said lightly trying not to scare the exhausted girl.

Viola's attention was far away, recalling the streets of the town she would soon be roaming again. A shiver moved up her spine and she felt sick. She needed to eat, but at the moment, she thought it wasn't the best idea. Still, as they made their way to the stream, she started to formulate a plan or catching some fish, then realized that Clive could probably just use his magic and she could cook them with hers. She was about to say as much to him when she felt him press some coin into her hand which she quickly slipped into her cloak pocket, not bothering to see how much was there. "I can do that." she replied with a nod of her head. Then, remembering her idea she said, "Clive, you should use your water to catch the fish and I can cook them with my fire. Will make for a quick delicious, possibly slightly charred meal." She forced a lopsided smile onto her face.

Arwen watched from the other side of the mirror, feeling a bit weary, but not quite tired. Maybe souls tire on their own and need some way to rest.. maybe meditation? Like the monks of old? She realized Clive was talking to her and she smiled at him, her eyes crinkling at the corners. "Of course I will." Then she continued a little louder so Viola, Carina, and Rowas could hear. "I'll need one of you to tap on the mirror's surface so I can find you, though, okay?"

Braith was awake long before most of the party he was watching. The only exception was the boy. He looked incredibly familiar, but in the low light of the cave, it was difficult to tell. As the rest of the party began rousing from their sleep, he prepared himself to follow. He watched silently from the shadows and once they made their way out, he slowly began to move towards the mouth that now had an opening the side of the door in the wall made of moss and dirt. He peered out carefully to make sure no one saw him. When they were far enough down, he began his trek after them. He waited in the trees one they stopped for food. He thought of appearing at that moment but then decided against it. At least, for now. Mainly because the sight of the boy--whom he now recognized to be the prince of Terrowen--had set him back. He knew Braith. Had seen him moving about the castle grounds as he did work for his master and his master's followers. He had to get him alone to make sure he wouldn't expose him. If he showed any signs of doing so... Well Braith would just have to take him out of commission.

Clive and the group made it to the stream. Viola had voiced her idea of how to catch fish with Clive's powers which lined up with his own thoughts on the matter. There were plenty of ways to attempt but he decided to just control the water around the fish and send it flying in a ball upwards and out of the water. The only problem so far seemed to be the fact that they were being followed. If it wasn't for Clive's earth powers he wouldn't have been able to sense him at all. He was extremely sneaky and made almost no noise at all but his every step echoed in Clive's in-head map. As the prince walked he continuously focused on mapping. When he first started using this power it was very taxing but now it was like second nature as long as he didn't try to stretch it too far. For now the figure wasn't making any significant movements so he just let it go and continued walking with the group until they arrived at the stream. Once there he got a good look at the surroundings. Clive assumed they would have trouble finding firewood because of the rain so it was a good thing Viola offered up her fire magic to cook the fish. Now he just had to catch some. He wasn't sure what the girls were going to do while he was attempting to fish but he turned from the group and stood next to the stream.

He closed his eyes and focused. Like he did with earth magic he could see everything that was flowing through the stream. Everything from the ripples of the running water to the rocks that lay beneath the surface. He could sense the movement of not just the water but every living thing in it and every movement they made. It wasn't exactly like earth magic. Instead of having to focus on sending ripples to get responses on where things went the water sent back its own vibrations to track. It took much less work then his other mapping powers which left Clive the ability to do much more at once. He was itching to try fishing with his new powers. He wasn't expecting to succeed right away but he was fairly confident with his new senses that it would be a valiant attempt. Clive focused hard on the water doing his best to not lose focus at all. His first attempt didn't work out so well. Despite the ability to see everything, the fish were fast and he had made the bubble of water around the fish too big to move quickly. Once he got the bubble out of the water there was no fish to be see inside the spear of water. He shook off his first failed attempt and decided to change the size of the bubble so it would be faster but quite a bit smaller as well. He found the perfect fish in the water and took his second attempt. This time he caught the fish and brought it successfully out of the water. As the spear stood suspended in the air Clive soon realized he did not put enough water into it and the fish leapt out and went careening back into the stream. He shook his head again. He was certain some of the girls would be making fun of him if they were watching but this wasn't as easy as it seemed. He shook off the doubt and set his mind to the task.

It didn't take too much time before He had enough fish to feed the group. Clive decided to get a bit extra just in case the others were extra hungry or if the intruder that had been following them from the cave was friendly enough. He thought about telling the group of the person following them but he figured it would be just as easy to send the message through Arwen once they picked up the mirror. If anything happened before then he was confident he could take out the threat no matter how skilled the fighter could have been. Not only could he use the earth around him but now he could convince water itself to do his bidding. The prince often caught himself briefly looking in the direction the figure was following them from but he never caught a glimpse of him. It seemed the rest of the group didn't notice the new follower but Clive was sure it wouldn't last long. Just in case he kept the mapping in the back of his head and remembered the melody of the figures footsteps. He checked one more time to confirm the person's location then gathered up the fish and brought them over to Viola. He wasn't sure how she was going to cook them but he was hoping they wouldn't be the extra crispy she had offered. "Your turn." He said with a slight look of satisfaction on his face for a job well done. He had noticed Viola had been somewhat offset since this morning but he figured she was just tired. They had been walking and waiting for awhile so it should have gone away by now but she looked worried. He looked to the others that were doing other things off in the distance and turned back to Viola. "Is everything alright?" He said quietly, with concern showing on his face.

Viola watched in feigned interest. Her mind was far away. To a time full of shadows. She fiddled with her cloak as she waited for her chance to use her magic. At the thought of food, her stomach ached, but she couldn't be sure if it was because she was hungry or nervous about going home. Even if she wasn't staying. She watched Clive fail a few times with not even a smile. Gods she needed to get it together. She took a deep breath and ran her fingers through her dark hair before stepping from the tree she was leaning against and walking towards where Clive stood.

It wasn't long before they had themselves a meal. The entire time she felt.. like she was being watched from beyond the clearing where they stood, but she shook it off. Even if someone as following them, they had two people in the group--possibly three. Viola was unsure of Rowas's skills--who could dispatch them before any harm could come to the group. She stared down at the pile of fish and thought for a moment. If she tried to cook them quickly, there was a good chance she'd sear the outer skin, but the inside wouldn't be fully cooked and she could not have someone sick on this journey because she couldn't cook a fish correctly.

She took up a stick and speared the fish with it, then she raised it and handed it off to the closest person to her--Clive--and went to work slowly roasting the fish. "Is everything alright?" Clive asked her. At first, she didn't say anything. How could she explain to a stranger the fear of returning to the place she had run from as a child. What good would it do anyway? It's not like they were going to trade. The boy would be out of his coin before they even had clothing for Rowas. But still...

"I'm from that city," she began with a nod of her head in the direction of the city. "I was... My parents were..." She took a deep breath. She didn't have to tell him everything, but she decided that if she asked, she would be willing. "Something bad happened and I was forced to run. So I don't have fond memories of where we're going." She finished the fish and gestured for him to pass the stick. She grabbed another and speared the next fish, handed it to Clive, and went back to roasting. "But If I let you handle the buying of the goods we need. You'll be out of coin so fast, we might as well make a bow and clothing from the debris of the forest now and save ourselves the trouble." She gave him a small lopsided smile to show she was trying to joke.

Carina and Altair follow everyone as they head to the stream. As they wait for Clive to catch the fish and Viola to cook them, Carina focuses on Altair.

"Are you feeling okay? I know you must be hurting since you haven't had you medicine." She said looking at him. Altair smiled " I'm okay. It hurts a little to breath but I'll be okay." he said looking up at her. She sighed and hugged him gently. Carina watched as Viola started to cook the fish and they waited patiently for the food to be done.

Carina grabs the food for her and Altair as she smiles nodding towards Clive and Viola. She walked back towards Altair and handed him some fish. Altair smiled and began to eat his food. Carina smiled and messed up his hair. "Enjoy the fish hun." she said smiling. Altair looked up with a face full of food laughing slightly. Carina smiled and went to eating her fish as well.

Clive kept accidentally looking at Viola as she paced. He could tell she was having a difficult time with this but there was no way to help her any more then he already had. Logically he should be more nervous then she was considering he was about to be by himself protecting a sick kid with someone unknown following them. The prince could handle whatever but Viola's fear seamed to stem from the city and past experiences. There was nothing Clive could do about that so he'd just have to hope she could push through. He pulled out the mirror and looked at the confused look on Arwen's face. She seemed to be trying to read Clive's thoughts and there was something about her ability to do that which scared Clive. The fact that she always knew what he was thinking was kind of a blessing and a curse. It meant there wasn't much he could hide from her unless he rid himself of all emotions when he was around her which was easier said then done. He hoped a situation wouldn't soon come where he had to do something she wouldn't like for her benefit over the greater good. He already knew what his decision would be. " I don't know what she's so worried about specifically, but can you keep an eye on her and try to keep her calm?" The prince spoke quietly into the mirror. " We need to keep them together if we want this to work." He looked down at the ground. " I don't think I can do this alone."

Carina smiled looking at Altair as he finished up his fish. "Go ahead and go over to Clive okay?" she said looking at her brother. He smiled and nodded and got up and ran over towards Clive. "I'm ready to go Clive whenever you are." Altair said looking up at Clive.

Carina watched from behind and smiled as she finished her last piece of fish. She whipped off her mouth and walked over towards Viola. "Whenever y'all are ready." she said. She was ready to get her hands on a bow so she could fully be able to protect her brother, but she knew it would be hard no matter what happened.

The princess watched from the other side of the mirror, a frown on her face. Something was definitely bothering Viola. She barely knew the girl and even she could see that. There was no way to prevent this though. She had the knowledge and the skill to get what they needed. Technically, so could Clive, but that was a secret he was willing to keep and letting them know could put him in danger. She just nodded to him in agreement. "I agree." She pushed her fingers against the glass surface and smiled softly at him. "And you'll never be alone. You have them and you have me. There's good in this world and they'll find you. Don't you worry, love."

Rowas watched the group with wary eyes. Viola did not seem all that willing to go into town. In fact, Rowas almost wished she could just go herself, but Donnally was a strange place to her. Nothing like the towns and cities of Xayen. She chewed her fish, savoring every bite, feeling stronger as she did. When she finished, she tossed her stick into the bushes and pushed herself to her feet. "I'm ready" she said and when Viola left, she followed.

Viola nodded at the confirmations that her companions were ready. She turned on her heel, threw up her hood, and started towards the town. It wasn't far. Probably a thirty minute walk from where they had stopped to rest. The people were already hustling and bustling about the streets as they went on their way to work. "Stay close to me." Viola slipped through the crowds easily but remembered she had followers and stuck to the sides where she could easily find them if they got lost. The first place they went was the town tailor to acquire proper clothing and footwear for Rowas. She bought a cheep pair of boots that would work for however long she hoped the Quest would take and some more expensive trousers with a loose top and a vest with pockets so she could get her some small weapons later.

In fact that's where they went next. There was a small weapons dealer just down the street where she remembered it was. It was a strange thing for a child to remember, but when you're a magic child in a magic hating kingdom, you're often thinking of ways to defend yourself. There she bought a bow and some arrows for Carina and a set of throwing knives for Rowas. "Just what do you think you're doing with these, child?" The man behind the counter asked. "They're for my brothers. Its a hunting trip today." She said innocently with a bat of her eyelashes. "They had to work so mother sent me to buy them from our savings." The man eyed her suspiciously but waved her away. She grinned as she left. Her tricks still work. Now that they were on the home stretch, she prayed they could make it back through the city and to their rendezvous point before someone noticed her.

Braith stepped from the ashes as the girls disappeared into the nearby town. "Clive? Is it you?" he asked. He had smeared his face and clothes with dirt to give the impression that he had traveled the great distance on foot. "I-I've been traveling a long way. I was robbed just off the road. I'm so glad to see you, Prince." He was completely unaware that the boy had kept his title to himself.

As the group parted ways Carina followed Viola into town. They walked to the tailor and Carina watched as Viola purchased clothes for Rowas. Then they headed to the weapons dealer. Immediately when she saw the bow and arrows she got excited. She loved the bow and arrows. Her father had taught her how to use it before he left. And she was excited to be able to protect her brother better. After all the items where bought they started heading out of town.

Altair stayed with Clive as the girls all left and he smiled slightly towards his sister as she disappeared through the trees. He was a little nervous for her seeing as how if things started to go bad she would immediately worry about him.

"Clive? Is it you?" Altair heard come from an unknown voice. Altair quickly ran over towards Clive and stood behind him. He was scared but confused as to how this stranger knew Clive. The man was covered in dirt, it looked like he had fallen in a hole, Altair snickered to himself over the idea. "I've been traveling a long way. I was robbed just off the road. I'm so glad to see you, Prince." he listened to the man say. Altair understood now as to why he looked like a dirt pile, it made sense. Altair then froze, Prince? he thought. Did that man just call Clive the prince?? Altair jumped with excitement and looked at Clive. "I knew it!!" he yelled happily. "I knew you where the prince! I told Carina! But she didn't believe me! But I knew it! I was right!" he yelled happily completely forgetting about the stranger.

No sooner then the girls left then the shadowy figure made a move. Clive was too occupied by his worries for the group going through his head to sense the figure moving. "Blast it!, Should have slept!" He thought. "As the figure exited the brush Clive instinctively drew his sword. The man mentioned the prince's name and he froze for a second. The man was covered in dirt and looked a bit beaten up which would have made his next few words believable if not for the fact that he was almost positive he was the person that was following them. At the mans last words Clive suddenly recognized him but quickly rubbed his temple at the notion of his secret being let out. And just like that Altair got over excited with the news and let it out a little too loudly. Clive measured up the man standing across the plain from him. From what he knew the man's name was Braith and he was fairly skilled in fighting, as well as many other things. Why would a man that worked in Arwen's castle be in a place like this in the middle of nowhere. Clive had no idea what Braith was thinking telling such a bold lie but the prince decided to go with it. "Why are you here?" He said, still not lowering his sword. As much as Clive wanted to convince Altair to keep his secret he knew that the things Braith was doing didn't make much sense.

Viola stopped short just before they crossed the line that was "out of the town" and swore. "I totally forgot to buy a mirror. We'll need it eventually.." She turned, warily glancing back at the town and sighed. "Alright, follow me again. I would tell you to stay but with the-" She stopped short, eyeing a few men and a woman who were traveling out of town with a horse carrying their bags. She waited until they were out of earshot once more before continuing. "With how things are, I don't trust these people to behave themselves. Especially with two young girls." She was well aware that she was a young girl, but she could also take care of herself. Rowas, with her knives, could probably do some damage if she had used them before, but Carina could only do so much at close range with her weapon.

She turned on the heel of her boot and thrust herself back into the crowds. They passed a bakery and some smithing shops and baubble makers as they made their way. A mirror was easier to find than a bow here.** Once she had the small hand mirror, she lead them out of the town before she tapped the glass surface thrice. She kept the mirror at eye level so she could see when the princess would appear.

[[**Lets just pretend I had made it difficult because I had intended to, but at the time I was writing, I had completely forgotten about it]]

Braith's smile was uneven, almost childish as he shrugged. "To help the princess, of course." He eyed the sword that was still raised to him and tilted his head. "What else would I be doing here? I mean besides being attacked. That obviously wasn't a part of the plan. Do you have anything to eat?"

[at this point the times are different. It would've taken the girls much longer to find the things than for the boys to converse so I think--even with Braith--they should continue on to get Altair's medicine]

Clive shrugged and pointed towards the remaining food. He trusted Braith based on what he knew of him when he worked in the castle but the things he had said so far didn't add up. He threw out his senses until he could read Braith's every move just in case the boy made a move that seemed hostile. Once he was ready for anything Braith could throw at him he sheathed his sword and knelt down to eye level with Altair. "I will not lie to you Altair, I am the prince but I need you to do me a few favors. First I need you to not tell anyone else. He paused to let the seriousness take effect then continued. The second is for you to stay close to me until we get back to your sister. Think you can do that for me?" He asked. Clive waited for Altair to nod in agreement before he turned back towards Braith. He sensed him go towards the leftover food before seeing it. The man didn't seem hostile as of yet but Clive still had several questions he needed to answer before he could trust him. He spoke towards Braith. "Hurry though," He said. "We need to get this little guy some medicine." He pointed towards Altair. He turned away from where Braith ate and walked towards the tree line with Altair in tow. The prince tapped the mirror and waited for the princess to appear. He quickly told her of the situation and his thoughts about Braith and Clives suspicions of the mans teleporting to them. He wanted to know what she thought of the whole situation before they rushed off into danger together. He could defend himself pretty well but when it came to protecting others it didn't help to be fighting enemies from both outside and inside your own ranks. (I'll post more frequently to push it up quicker. I don't think we should 100% rush through the small bits but I agree we're not going fast enough)

Braith nodded, his dark eyes following the prince's finger to the food. Thankfully, the fishs' sticks were all thrust into the ground so they wouldn't be dirtied by the wet earth. he took one and took a bite. It was... well fishy, but the last meal he had eaten had been the night before so he was actually hungry and not just feigning it. He did hurry. He wasn't the most good natured person, but preventing a child from care it needed was a level of evil he reserved for his master. He liked to think he retained some of his morals. He finished, tossed the stick and bones towards the bushes behind him, washed his hands in the nearby stream, and then followed Clive and the little boy--Altair. "Lead the way, Prince Clive. I don't have to remind you that I have barely left the grounds of the castle in my life so this is whole new terrain for me." Wasn't a lie, which made it easy to tell.

I will not lie to you Altair, I am the prince but I need you to do me a few favors. First I need you to not tell anyone else. The second is for you to stay close to me until we get back to your sister. Think you can do that for me? Clive said to Altair. Altair nodded listening closely to Clive, but he knew he wanted to rub Carina's face in the fact that he was right, but he decided to talk to Clive about that later. Altair followed Clive as they started to move on. As they began walking Altair muffled a cough not trying to show that the lack of medicine was starting to take effect. He stayed close to Clive but kept stopping to cough trying to keep it hidden.
