As a young child, Claude wasn't tended to very much. He had to learn things on his own, so he cared for himself. Any nannies his parents hired were almost immediately fired for a reason Claude never knew or could figure out. But, he didn't care anyway. He never really liked them in the first place. They were much to "chipper" for his tastes, and they acted as if they've known the young boy his whole short life. All he really needed was himself.
Once he was old enough, his parents sent him to school. Rules were very strict and imprinted upon where he was enrolled. Although he easily could be recognized as the most disciplined and matured student there, nobody ever seemed to enjoy his company or presence. This was because of one obvious fact. Claude was also a mage. Where he lived, mages were more than often looked down upon. But, once again his cold personality allowed him not to care. He wouldn't want to be friendly with such discriminating people anyway. He felt bad (not really) for the children whose parents raised them that way; to not think of people who are different as equals. It surely was a shame.
Being alone all the time did have an impact on him though. Yes, it taught him independence, but it made him push people who were willing to get to know him- away. It caused those people to decide to leave him be. If he had not been such a loner, he would've had at least a friend or two. Another effect of this was how socially-awkward he was; he still is as awkward to this day. He just didn't know the right things to say without making a fool of himself. Even though he didn't really care what other people thought of him, he didn't want the entirety of society to be disgusted by him. It'd only make matters much worse.
Aside from all that, Claudius became a level two because all he did in his spare time was practice his possession magic. It started with simple attacks with one proxy, leading on to much more powerful attacks, and then came the second proxy. He needed to learn to do even more powerful attacks with both of his proxies. After he finished his final year of school, he decided to move to New Cairo, Egypt to attend Nethmar University. His parents didn't care, but was quite glad that he'd be out of their hair.
Now, he studies at Nethmar, and seems to be very happy that he's finally in a place where he'll be accepted for who he is. Though, he clearly doesn't show it.
