Jyne’s foundation of fighting stemmed from silat, the national martial art of her home country. It focuses on quick, deadly, and often violent attacks or disables usually lead to devastating victories that are one-sided with no possibility of a comeback. Jyne mainly utilizes open palms to maximum offensive capability, using them to strike, parry, defend, or grapple at a moment’s notice. This also goes hand-in-hand together with her usage of her self-invented stun gloves.

She uses these stun gloves to fight against mages and incapacitate them.During her exile, her interest in combat has increased her arsenal and refined her move pool to reduce her weaknesses. Reminiscent of the Roman Legion, Jyne’s combination of various martial arts learned from various countries she traveled to -- such as several kung fu styles from China, Systema from Russia, North India’s ancient Shastar Vidaya, Muay Thai from Thailand, Krav Maga from Israel, to name a few -- have transformed her into a force to be reckoned with. Where there are weaknesses in one martial art, she uses other moves from different martial arts to compliment them, forming an almost unbeatable collection. Jyne’s style of combat is very fast-paced and seems to have the objective of ending the fight as soon as it begins. Her focus is the chin, to use the most minimal energy to create a powerful impact to the skull in order to render her adversary limp or out cold. When that fails, she resorts to powerful blows to the limbs to break bones in order to incapacitate her opponent. She also uses deception of her stances or attacks to trick her enemy in order to open up more options for her to do more damage and she also exploits her opponents weaknesses to a great degree. Jyne also utilizes everyday objects as weapons, birthed from her creative spontaneity, adding to her deadliness in combat.

Her inability to remain in fights for a long time seems to be her downfall and perhaps the leading reason to why her combat style is so heavily focused on achieving victory as quickly as possible. It is to be noted that when Jyne is forced into a corner against her will, she can overcome her initial stamina issues and emerge victorious against several opponents at once. Like a wild animal hell-bent on surviving, she explodes with unadulterated power and can dispatch her opponents quickly with savage but precise blows that just ooze with ferocity. Usually in this state, she may sustain injuries to herself that she does not realize until she calms down. After her fight for survival, it often leads to her passing out from expending too much of her stamina.

Jyne’s original smooth baby-face and unmarked light complexion has transformed thanks to her wandering lifestyle. After her exile, Jyne’s face has lost its baby-fat, looking more angled and sharp. Her body also shows signs of harden from her travels, giving her a chiseled appearance. Jyne’s body build is actually pretty petite despite the additional muscle she accumulates, which is visibly seen from her tiny waist. Her complexion has turned into a nice, healthy-looking bronze from being under the sun constantly. She has multiple scars littered around her body, ranging from small to large ones. The most significant and visible scars are the two jagged lines that stretch from her right cheek, ending dangerously close to her eye, the other is a wound on her left eyebrow where a bullet grazed her. Other scars decorate her arms, her lower abdomen, her legs. The largest scar she received is on her back, square in the middle of her waist, which is a very ugly, blotchy shade of skin that seems to convey that it was untreated.

Born into a working-class human family in Peninsula Malaysia, Jyne grew up surrounded by an amazing array of cultures and races. While the country was far from β€˜equal’ -- the Malay race enjoyed a life of privilege and Malays who were mages received the utmost honor and status in the country -- the rest of the people did what they could to remain united as a country. Despite its emphasis on hierarchy and race supremacy, the lower caste of people continued to bond with one another, including lower caste mages who were not of Malay origin. This environment was what fueled Jyne’s patriotism for her country, believing that this multiculturalism and race acceptance of the lower caste was what her country should truly be.

Thanks to her out-going and kind nature towards her fellow countrymen, Jyne made quite a name for herself among the lower caste. Her acceptance of mages as equals and friends also made her immensely popular among the mage population too. This popularity among the lower caste would eventually lead her to becoming the leader of the revolution against the tyrant ruler. For years, he ruled the country, his opposition seemingly in favor of letting him continue his reign, or there would be what seemed to be rigged results of elections, along with other weird unexplained events. Speculating that the prime minister had been remaining in power through underhand means and causing the suffering of the lower caste by creating more unjust regulations, this was the catalyst that brought forth Jyne’s patriotism and rally the lower caste into preparing for an uprising. Small but calculated attacks would eventually be aimed at the upper class members of society, with the then twenty year old Jyne spearheading the offense with her personalized squad of eight members. Gradually, Jyne and her squadron gained notoriety among the upper class as the leader of the rebellion.

Marked as traitors of the country, a manhunt ensued for them, but it proved to be futile as the rebellion escaped them time and time again. The time would then come for the final offensive: the removal of the tyrant himself.

During that final confrontation, Jyne and her group fought valiantly against the corrupt officials, suffering casualties for the greater good. When the tyrant was finally cornered by the remaining members of Jyne’s rebellion, he revealed a β€˜trump card’ and assaulted Jyne’s mind before she was attacked by her closest friend, and ally, from behind. A powerful mage specializing in Telepathy, the tyrant had controlled the entirety of the upper class by planting false memories or scrambling the minds of those who resisted. Finally revealing his powers, his manipulation of Jyne’s friend would prove to be the rebellion’s downfall and Jyne would escape within an inch of her life, with the belief that her friend had betrayed her.

Alone and in pain, Jyne fled the country and recuperated from her wounds. She grew to develop a cynical streak and distrust for mages after her betrayal. Traveling the continent, she visited several countries and made a living by being a mercenary for hire. Most of her work involved small daily work, although occasionally she dealt with jobs that involved fighting against rogues or assisting them, dependent on what paid the best. A complete change from her moral-filled, idealistic, kind self, Jyne became a hardened individual and possessed a cautious, calculatingly sharp intuition. She became a master of deception and strengthened herself mentally against Telepaths. Living by traveling from country to country, she picked up different languages quickly and was able to speak them conversationally within a week most of the time. She learned combat from the natives of each country as well as their country, able to abide and respect their customs when it mattered. Jyne never stayed in one place for too long, thanks to her nomadic status.

In her wandering adventures, Jyne has experienced the constant power struggles between mages and humans, as well as the corruption within countries. This, along with many other factors, bred a dark sense of humor and skepticism as well as tear apart shreds of her kindness, turning her into the person she is today.

Over three years that she has been on her self-imposed exile from her country, it doesn’t seem like Jyne has any intention of ever returning home. She also doesn’t seem to have any intent on staying anywhere as well, appearing to be content with just wandering the continent, perhaps for the rest of her life.

New Cairo's city was almost as diverse as its population, boasting a number of different locations and districts, all home to different types of people. A cacophony of voices echoed through out the Red Sand as fans watched their favorite sports teams battle it out in the stadiums, none of them ever becoming too unruly with the ever watchful eye of the Raptora staring at them. When such one of these fans dared so, they were almost immediately rounded up and taken to one of the smaller facilities, some even grateful that they'd never be stuck in one of the cells in Ivaldi.

It was a place where reality seemed to bend and warp given the unnatural silence of the building, and if put in there for so long it wouldn't be a surprise for them to come out missing a few screws in their head.

Although seemingly ancient to most citizens, the Old Market held a lot of history in it, history that shouldn't be waved away by a hand and forgotten. A casual stroll through the market stalls could lead to seeing many old relics of the past, some which the older citizens will fondly remember, but others may see them as collectables, or even worthless. Though none can deny that there is a certain piece about the area.

With the abscence of city lights, noise and the more advanced technology, you're simply left with you're own thoughts and the presence of those around you. And while technology is beneficial in many ways, taking the time to have a honest conversation with another human can have its perks as well. Nethmar University's halls were filled with its all mage student body, the only real quiet locations in the school being the occasional classroom and the many libraries. If you happened to pass one particular room you might have even seen a myriad of mages practicing their branches of magic.

The Pulse District was as lively as it always was, despite the occasional fight that broke out in bars, and sometimes spilled into the streets. But under all of everyone's drunken, carefree attitudes was dormant anxiety. The Red Triad has been particularly incessant on attacking the Pulse District, and in the darkest hours of the night, you can often see members of them openly recruiting people.

While there are some that will openly mock them and all other mage supremacists, others are more hesitant to speak of them. Though there isn't any doubting that the Red Triad is in the corner of every New Cairo citizen's mind, everyone is waiting to see what they do next, especially the Raptora.

ImageImageAmong the busy crowd of the Old Market, no one saw a hooded figure crouched in an alley. Dressed in tattered, dirty clothes that barely did anything to hide the hideous scars that littered the skin, it seemed that the person had traveled a long way. It was no doubt odd, and would capture the attention of any attentive passerby, who were much more well-dressed. Ravenous, a dodgy, half-eaten sandwich was devoured quickly by the person.

Dry-retching sounds ensued, muffled quickly by hands. Heaving heavily, the person pulled back the dirty hood, revealing a spill of messy, unkept light, golden brown locks. Beneath the hair and dirt-covered face, one could see that it was a she.

Jyne retched one more time, but nothing came out again. Thank the skies, because she needed those nutrients, no matter how horrible the food was. Exhausted, she allowed her body to go limp, falling back against the wall. It had been days since she last ate ever since arriving in New Cairo.

"Desperation makes people do really outrageous things." the wanderer thought to herself, chuckling at the fact that she had just ate out of the trash.

A random stranger walked by and noticed her. He approached her, speaking a language that she could only assume was Arabian. In response, she snarled at him like a wounded animal, although she made no effort to move in her exhaustion. The stranger instantly fled. She wasn't in the mood to deal with a fool's questions this time.

"Hey, how are you? Are you fine? Do you need help? Are you a druggie?" a mocking tone resounded in her thoughts, each sentence spoken in a different language that she had learned. She rolled her eyes. Been there, done that.

There was a pleasant melody of a guitar playing nearby, and a small crowd slowly made their way towards it; no doubt a sign of a street performer. A few people passed by where Jyne's little alley was, whom she flared at, earning glares in return. She snorted in reply. Despite her little back and forth of discontent with the strangers, she listened to the tune, managing to name it as 'Photograph', an old tune from the yesteryears. A small smile played coyly around her lips as it reminded her of a home she had forgotten amidst her hectic lifestyle.

Her short moment of rest as she closed her eyes to focus on the melody was interrupted when she ended up dry-retching again.

"Never have I regretted anything more than this right now."

ImageImageJyne stumbled onto her knees from her unstable footing and momentum from shoving a kind, helpful native of New Cairo away from her. The kind man had noticed Jyne's motionless form in the alley that she had been resting in. Irritated to have her rest interrupted, the wanderer refused to accept the stranger's help leading to the series of events leading to the current situation.

"Go help someone else that wants your help!" she snarled in a garbled mess of English and Mandarin, with a very distinct and unique accent.

The man quickly understood the message being telegraphed by her body language and immediately left her alone, not without muttering a few choice phrases, probably speaking ill of her attitude and lamenting the fact that he got berated for actually helping someone. Rough life.

Figuring that her rest would continue to be interrupted, and feeling slightly less tired from her nap, Jyne got up to her feet and joined the crowd in the market. Receiving a few disgusted stares for her appearance and probably reeking smell, she easily passed through crowds who willing parted for her in an attempt to prevent themselves from touching her. Pleased with the lack of a crowd around her, she took her time to browse through the wares of the different stalls. The market seemed to be full of the country's culture, which she admired. Legitimately praising the craftsmanship of certain crafts, such as those of pottery and weaving, her mood gradually shifted into one of a more calm and calm demeanor. Her participation in the market also quickly allowed her to decipher a few choice words in Arabian, so her mood improved drastically.

Normally, Jyne spent the first few days to learn the language of the place she was staying at, as it was crucial for communication. After all, her main line of 'work' was to be a mercenary-for-hire, which meant she would have to go looking for work by herself. At the current moment, both were not an option as Jyne lacked a warm place to stay, as well as a lack of economy in order to survive. Which meant she had to-
ImageImage
"Steal." Jyne thought to herself, beginning to survey the crowd for potential targets as she pulled on a pair of gloves.

Sure enough, she found a few. It didn't amount to much, especially if she was to get a place to stay for a while. Tossing purses and wallets of her unfortunate victims into nearby trash, while depositing the cash into her pouch, she continued looking for other victims. She spotted a rather odd target: an extremely tall red-head who looked rather out of place, what made it even more odd was that Jyne found it difficult to deduce the person's gender, eventually settling on a woman. Jyne had spotted a rather attractive sum of cash in the red-head's wallet and followed her as she left, acting as if they were walking the same direction. At the same moment, Jyne felt the trash sandwich she had consumed earlier beginning to churn uncomfortably. Light bulb flashing in her mind, she used it to her advantage. A short distance away from the red-head, she doubled over and hurled, vomit splattering on the ground and some found themselves on the red head's pants and boots.

Although she had planned it, she still groaned at the unwelcome acidic taste in her mouth and the smell, as well as the fatigue that quickly began to fill in the void in her stomach. She retched a few more times, before she looked up at the person.

"S-sorry, I haven't... been eating, v-ery well..." she murmured, holding up her hands in a way that showed that she was sorry, just in case the person did not speak English. Her voice was rough from the ordeal, but she sounded extremely sincere and regretful for the turn of events that had occurred.

After all, she was a master of deceit.
