Eridanus Rival Issac Caydon
Nickname:
It's quite easy to assume that to the students it's Professor Caydon; Eric to the teachers, however Erid and Issac are both used as well. Augustus was an old, long-used alias, the headmaster's dropped it of late.
Age:
Around 1000
Power:
Immortality, his age does suggest this, especially with his "Dorian Gray" appearance. Eric is blessed with youth and almost unfailing good health. Eric's invulnerable and quite resilient. Eric can still feel pain.
Sexuality:
Heterosexual: Eric considered his first 500 years or so to be his "experimental" phase but he has well since settled in his orientation. Unfortunately his objects of affection cannot stave away the calling of age the way his power has and so he has found himself less inclined to enter into lasting relationships, knowing they cannot exist for him.
Which Side?:
A purely Neutral character, Switzerland for the bilateral academy. What often is the case, Eric advises both shades of the student and academic body.
Eric preserves the peace. Safety is paramount to Eric for all students and teachers.

Personality:
Eric has a skeptical nature and see's the world in layers, this often makes him unusually perceptive, at least for the details that count. The Headmaster can be found taking his morning, pre-noon, noon, afternoon and evening naps by an aged tree on grounds, with either a laptop or one of his many violins. Many would see his laid back approach as apathy and they wouldn't be entirely wrong, he aims to guide, not lead; he does care though. Eric experiences great mood swings, it might just be a side effect for living so long; he finds napping/ alcohol a pretty sound cure for this though. Eric is no longer as blunt as he previously was, it has taken SOME TIME though. One thing Eric prides himself is his humor and approach-ability, try him. He just enjoys a good time, and resting around campus - However there are great works between the shades. Yes he did create the rules and yes he's broken everyone, not really much of an authority figure as more a blur between the lines.
History:
History for Eric began in 1028 in Norway. He had many brothers and sisters, working and living the farm life. At the age of 2 his father left to clash steel in the historic Battle of Stiklestad, though he never returned. The family was left to Eric's older siblings, managing what his grief stricken mother could not. In the later days, Eric pursued medicine in Finland, close to home. Over the years Eric's family began to take note of his constant youth, and what started as mild amusement turned into pure scared confusion. The world at the time was rife with witches and superstition, and the connection between Eric and those beliefs were to the family, a logical conclusion.
Though his family loved him, they couldn't deny the supernatural and Eric was hung, then burnt (alive, after the hanging failed to kill him). The taste of his tongue melting in an aroma of suffocating ash was unforgettable. His charred body was dumped into the North sea afterwards. Deep in the ocean Eric had recovered, only one question buzzing inside, "what am I?"
His little sister, saw an apparition of Eric weeks later. At least she claimed it was. There was no malice in his voice, just comforting words and a warm embrace. It was the last time any member of his family saw him, though he hovered in background at each funeral.
Spain marked a new lease for Eric, though he chose to keep pursuing medicine through the decades (there was a lot of advancement), it had fallen to more a past time. Eric was an explorer, and there were languages to consume.
It was during this time that he met a man posing as a travelling magician. Jewa Maldoy. The difference with Jewa being that he was a telekinetic, the first gifted person, Eric had encountered. It didn't take long for Eric and Jewa to be great friends, holding secrets neither had expressed to many before. Their priorities changed before long and Spain was left behind on their search for answers about their powers.
Though they uncovered many things, Jewa was mortal and that time approached. His final words were "continue..."
20 million died in what was now 1348, the Black Plague was sweeping Europe. Eric did what he could but it wasn't a great deal besides catching black plague. In 1509 Eric found himself in England working in an estate under the Groundskeeper Thomas Maldoy, a late descendant of Jewa's family. There was much to learn around England at time and it was comforting to have a Maldoy. By 1540 the feudal system had broken down and many relationships Eric had formed, had aged considerably or had died, including Maldoy. Eric disappeared from the estate and the town which was growing in its wake..
The years rolled on, and so too did world events: Eric fought with a band of "gifted" in WW1 that he had assembled himself - the headhunter on two fronts as he had begun to get quite adept at finding gifted... the front was a sniper rifle and the enemy rued that. After the war Eric vanished and it wasn't until 1945 that Eridanus resurfaced and it turned out to be in America, merely weeks after World War 2 ended. It was later found that Eric had settled in eastern France after falling for a local during his travels. The affair turned tragic after her ancestry had been divulged to invading forces and Eric found himself stricken with feelings he still cannot let go. He attributes those actions following the years until his return to America in 1945 as "Not my own". He doesn't dwell or judge that period, in fact he pure and simply blocks it out.
The Cold War, The Seven Years War and The Thirty Years War are all other notable wars Eric has participated in. Identity was never a real issue until the late 20th century, Eric would often us an alias, such as Augustus or such to separate periods of time and excuse his youth. The world had been his oyster and he had traversed it's plains well but the world was moving and it was sudden impulse that gave him what he truly wanted, a home. He wont say how he had land, another tale for another time but he had land.
Having land in the States marked a new chapter for Eric, a lot had changed since the warring sequential factions of old. It was in the hustle of the dynamic cities sprouting around that Eridanus was inspired and designed his legacy - The Maldoy Academy . He spent a lot of time on and off the project from 1953 until 1975 when it was finally complete. The planning for the opening was long underway; the years teaching at Maldoy have settled him greatly but we all love surprises...

Anything else:
As Eridanus is a constant he finds that he makes friends with "houses" and families than individuals (those he reveals his gift to), this in turn gives him more constant friends."We are never just odd or even." Try to understand Eric, now the building will reflect. Eric has degrees in genetics and sociology.
