Introduction

Human's have been at war with themselves for thousands of years. It's almost as if they were waiting for something else to fight. Another challenge, another enemy, another powerful being. During, what is now known as the Finale War humans decided to use everything they had. The big countries couldn't get enough. Nuclear bombs went off all over the planet killing nearly everyone and everything. However, human's are tough and they pulled their selves back from the dead. Hundreds of years pasted and the Earth was healing while mankind was keeping the wars in the past only needing to look at the shattered remains of the cities to stop themselves from fighting over trivial things.
With the Earth peacefully rebuilding itself an ancient creature was also being reborn. Born from the molten rivers of lava, the depths of the ocean, and the acidic and thunderous clouds above the Dragons are reclaiming their land with vicious intent. They begin like any wild animal, just doing what they needed to survive. Killing here and there just to live. The thunder dragons able to eat the dead poisoned plants, while the water dragons helped purify the water with a mucus like substances on their scales, and the fire breathers burn everything that they find a nuisance.
As time went on the idea that humans were an endangered species finally sunk in and they started fighting back. Some would go on to become brave and powerful hunters, killing the dragons that dare get too close to society. Some will become talented and caring tamers, befriending the dragons and gaining their trust. Others will just stand by and watch the show. Whatever they do they'd better be prepared for what's to come because the dragons are evolving and hybrids are beginning to appear.
The world that this takes place in will be divided in several sections each holding significance to its creatures of course.
The City
Or what remains of it. The city is mostly known for being the fire dragon's lair. It is nearly impossible for humans to get inside and not many want to. The fire dragons do a good job of keeping their territory safe. It's masked with smoke from the fiery buildings inside and surrounded by crushed and burnt cars from the evacuation during the Finale War.
The Forrest
The forest may not have many dragons but it is full of everything else. Large deer that adapted to live in a radiation poisoned world are not as easy to kill as they may have once been. Their hide is thick and they no longer run from every single sound. Food is scarce and many animals become omnivorous to avoid the radiation filled plants. There were also wolves that adapted to survive and quite a few other creatures. Also, don't forget, the baby dragons. They love to use humans as a quick snack. The forest separates the Town from the City.
The Town
Human's haven't forgotten everything. They've rebuilt a respectable town filled with quite a lot of people. The boarder is surrounded by towers loaded with missiles to shoot down any dragon that dares to attack them. The citizens live in homes though they only use the ground level for purification as everything actually takes place underground. The air, although breathable, is still rather toxic and many people still wear gas masks to protect themselves from the radiation while on the surface.
The Outskirts
Not much is know about the outskirts. Not many venture off of the main roads.
The River/Sea
The river runs from the city, all the way through the forest, through the outskirts of town, and to the ocean. The river dragons aren't as vicious as the Fire Dragons and the illusive Thunder Dragons and they tend to avoid people. But they will strike if they are provoked or hungry. Humans fish in the river daily and animals drink from this only source of fresh water daily as well so there is always life near the river.
Fire Dragons: Not much is known about them because not many people are able to meet one and live. They are extremely vicious and hard to kill. No one has been able to tame or befriend one of these beasts as of yet, hell, they're lucky if they even survive a meeting with one. they seem to only beable to breath fire but that seems to be enough to make them the dominant breed.
Thunder Dragon: As illusive as this beast is it's not nearly as terrible as the fire dragons. The thunder dragons hide deep in the mountains and are only seen during storms. They hunt people and livestock alike. Whatever catches its eye first. They can breath both fire and electricity with ease. Few have made a bond with this dragon and the ones who have made the bond are exiled from the cities for fear that they will bring the human's extinction.
Water Dragon: Serpent like and quiet the water dragons don't pose much of a threat. They don't seem to find an interest in humans and will only attack if attacked first. They cannot breath fire or electricity, but they can make scorching hot steam and still have rather deadly claws and teeth. Still, not many are able to tame these common beast and like the other tamers they are not allowed into the city once it is made known that they have bonded with one of the winged beast.
Humans: We all know what a human is but in this world people are different. Many people are still getting sick and dieing from the radiation while others are thriving. Then there is the threat of dragons. There are many orphans and broken families. Life is a lot harder then it was once upon a time and people are starting to venture further and further away from the town and surviving long enough to return.

(Note: To explain the hybrids a bit; Dragons can shapeshift into a human or humanoid dragon if the bond between a dragon and a human is really close (not necessarily in a romantic way). It's a temporary shift and if they do happen to mate the offspring can rang from completely human on the outside with some powers or minor physical changes (dragon eyes, scales on the back, claws... ect.) or a scaly humanoid (wings may or may not be included). Normally the dragon parent isn't in the life of the hybrid so that it can "try" to live a normal life among the humans.)

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 8 authors

Stopping in midstride, Relif found himself face-to-face with one of the odd creatures of the forest. It looked much like a deer, from the shape of it's body, but it was much taller strangely colored, no doubt from the radiation of the Finale War. Both hybrid and deer stared at eachother for a few moments before the deer tried to bolt for the safty of the trees. It didn't get far before Relif's claws came down on it's back from above, having jumped from ten feet away to land his target. The poor creature managed to release one pitiful bleet before his scale covered paw smashed into it's neck, breaking it in two, causing it to spazm before going still. Opening and closing his paw, Relif rose from the corpse's back, breathing heavily. If it hadn't simply wandered into the clearing, it would still be alive and well. However, it was kill or be killed, nowadays. It couldn't be helped.
Dragging the limp body to his supplies, he stored his armor within his pack and slung it over his shoudler, lifting his soon to be dinner in his arms. There was a river near here where he could clean his kill, then from there Relif would head to town. It would be nice to sleep under an actual roof tonight. Destination set, Relif left the clearing, making his way towards the river.

"Jobs? So you hunt then..." She assumed. She crossed her arms over her chest for a moment, "That means your tough." She had never tried to take down a dragon before but she had no problem taking down the other beast that filled the forests. "Can I join you?" She paused for a moment, "I know how to take care of myself so I promise not to be a burden." She spoke while patting her rifle as it hung on her arm. She wasn't sure if trying to join a stranger was a good idea but it was better then going back to her hole and doing nothing.
His tail swept over the ground bumping into trees as his excitement grew. His razor sharp claws dug into the cool earth uprooting some small bushes before he began to circle the hybrid keeping his distance and moving slow so that his camouflage wouldn't be disrupted. He slowly moved closer the scales on his neck rattling a bit before he froze. His eyes narrowed a bit as he drew in a breath before a low flame was exhaled out.
A thunderous roar left the prideful dragon's maw as he charged the hybrid. Uncaring of the consequences he kept on expecting and almost wanting the hybrid to put up a good fight. He was already charging up another lightening blast to send at him knowing that fire doesn't effect most dragons and so assumed the same for the hybrid.
Just as he was walking away Renatus felt a charge of lightning hit him he staggered nearly falling he looked up with more irritation then pain in his eyes, he was certain he wasn't alone. His mind ironically sparked at the thought that maybe a Thunder Dragon fired the shot, after a few seconds he went for his gun perhaps it was toying with him? He hadn't met a Dragon like that before but hey, there's a first for everything.
Renatus' fiery blood chilled as he heard a roar from behind him, turning instinctively he saw the Thunder Dragon it was charging right for him. Renatus' thoughts were dazed he could see the Dragon was charging another bolt up, he aimed for the Dragon's mouth hoping to spark off a chain reaction he began firing rapidly trying to slow its charge.

"I've been on hunts before," Jade replied, "but I take up any job I can. I guess you could say I'm tough; I'm perfectly capable of fighting and defending myself. I grew up being trained by my grandfather." She paused a moment then wen't on. "You can join me, if you like, but I must warn you - it's not an easy life. Though, your company is very welcome, I only spend time with other people when on raids, or some job that requires a group. Other than that, I'm on my own. We can see how this pans out, but if it doesn't work...well, we can cross that bridge when we get there."
The setting changes from The Town to The Forest
Extending one of his claws on his right hand, he began carving the deer, setting aside the meat and skin to pack later. Relif was in the middle of cleaning out the organs when, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted some sort of giant red rock next to the river. Strange, the river didn't have any stones like that. Unless...
Instinctively, Relif threw himself into the water, expecting flames to dance across the water moments after he submerged. He hung there, suspended in the water, awaiting the flames. However, several seconds later, there was still no fire where he had dove in and he was running out of oxygen. Gasping, Relif broke the surface, sucking in massive amounts of air.
I've...really got to quit being so over-caustious.
The "rock" he had seen was, indeed, a dragon. And elder dragon, from it's size. But was most interesting was that it was a fire dragon. Fire dragons were rarely seen in the Forest, and seeing one napping here was even rarer. Wading silently to the other shore, Relif pulled himself from the water. Rising slowly, he made a mental note of where his pack was and approached the dragon. The closer Relif got, the more unsure he became until he was about 15 feet away. No going back now unless he wanted to present himself as an easy meal.
"...exactly, what is a fire dragon doing here in the middle of a forest?" Relif asked, hoping the large dragon was awake. If it wasn't, he could always use a rock...
Drograh was about to begin dozing off when another interruption came to bother him. He half open his eye and looked down at what had decided to bother him while he rested this time. Too his annoyance, it was one of those vermin. He gave snort at the little human's presence. It was brave to try to approach and speak with him. Foolish, but brave. Drograh, not willing to get up after he ha just settled in, decided to deal with this in a simple manner.
Venting a breath of hot air from his nostrils, he spoke. "Nothing that concerns you. Monkey."
Without warning Drograh's giant tail lashed out toward the human, Drograh intending to send the little nuisance flying with a lazy swing.
The large creature vented hot air through it's nostrils, replying,"Nothing that concerns you. Monkey."
Definatly male. And monkey? What the heck was that?
Momentarily distracted, Relif nearly got caught by the dragon's suddenly swinging tail. Even if it was a lazy blow, it was still coming pretty quickly, giving Relif nearly no means of escaping a blow that would leave him with either a broken spine at worse and a broken ribcage at best, hybrid or not. So, caught by surprise, he feel backwards, basically sitting on his slender tail as the dragon's tail swung over his head by a hair, wind buffing his face.
Relif sat on the ground a couple moments, rubbing his bruised tail gingerly as he recovered, shouting,"Honestly, there was no reason to strike at your own kin! And I'm not a monkey...what ever that is." To prove it, he raised his left arm, covered in brilliant red scales and ivory claws tipping his fingers.

"Honestly, there was no reason to strike at your own kin! And I'm not a monkey...what ever that is."
Kin?
Drograh gave the human another glance. This time however his eyes went wide. When he spotted the red scales the adorned the human- no, mixed curs arm Drograh's blood started to boil. The little false-blooded foul spawn had the audacity to to call himself kin of the fire blood? HERESY!
Raising himself back onto his feet, the one-horned-fire-king towered over the hybrid. A burning rage glowed in his eyes as he glared down at the bastardized spawn.
"No..." the one horned dragon growled, heat building in the depths of his belly. "You're an abomination!" With a furious roar Drograh unleashed a torrent of fire from his jaws onto the hybrid.
The setting changes from The Forest to The Town
The ball of lightening shot out of the young dragon's maw and headed straight for the hybrid... or rather the gun in the hybrid's hand. It was drawn to the metal. He pivoted around and swept his tail across the ground to both protect his self from the bullets and to try to catch the man off guard. It was his first encounter with a hybrid and maybe playing around with him wasn't the smartest thing that Loz could have done. It wasn't as if he was the wisest dragon, he was still considered a hatching by the elders.
He felt himself being lifted up into the air, he arched his body downwards and let go flying upward for a few seconds before falling onto the Dragon's back, some of the spines pierced into his skin. He began crawling up the Dragon's back trying to get to the head, he wasn't going to kill it yet this Dragon for some odd reason he found interesting he wanted to know if the other Dragon he fought was his friend, he didn't even know Dragons had friends and was honestly quite curious of the psychology of a Dragon.
The setting changes from The Town to The Forest
"No...You're an abomination!"
With a ear splitting roar, he released a massive torrent of flames, sending it at Relif like a tital wave. Raising his scale-covered arm in defense, Relif rushed to the left, fire washing over his arm harmlessly. The same could not be said for the rest of him. Even with those few seconds covered in flames, painful burns covered his legs, other arm and back. Dragon fire was far hotter than any human produced flame.
With a few moments to spare, Relif ran through his remaining options. Fighting was out of the question, even if Relif had his supplies. He could run into the forest and lose him between the trees, but doing so would have the chance of the entire forest going up in flames. Even if he wanted to live, Relif wouldn't sacrifice the whole forest to do so. Jumping in the river would protect him from the fire, but then he'd be even more vunurable. Damn, if only he hadn't left his pack...his pack!
Glancing behind himself, Relif spotted his pack in the exact place he left it- across the river. If he could get to it, he'd have a chance.
In a blur, Relif swirled around and made a mad dash for the river, sailing over the earth with incredible speed. Half dragon or not, if he didn't make it to the water before the dragon, he'd be toast. Literally.
The setting changes from The Forest to The Town
βWe'll be spending a lot of time above ground.... wont we?β She finally asked knowing the answer. βNot that it'll be a problem.β She quickly added before pulling out her canteen. βI've just never gone beyond the forest.β She pushed her mask up just so that her mouth was exposed and she quickly drank down the fresh water. She tried to enjoy the breeze that graced her chin but her paranoia got to her and she quickly capped the water and pushed down her mask. βI wonder...β She continued to fix her mask until she felt it seal tightly to her face, βHave you ever met a hybrid?β She took a couple deep breaths of the filtered air, βI met one once while I was hunting. She was a sweet girl...β Her thoughts trailed off as she spotted a dragon fly overhead. It didn't seem to be interested in the townspeople or the town but it was beautiful.
βGet off.β He ordered darkly before he started to buck and shake. He didn't want to kill him yet. Things were just starting to get fun. He stopped after a while and simply stared ahead. His fun gone. βWhy do hunt your own kind?β He asked as he laid down with a loud thud and slowly began to roll onto his back. He figured that if this guy was smart then he would move. Once on his back he quickly rolled back onto his feet to protect his belly and looked for the hybrid. He wanted to satisfy this curiosity.
After a couple of minutes the Dragon stopped which honestly for Renatus was more intimidating then the roars, the fire and the death silence was unpredictable you didn't know what you were going to get, and that aspect infuriated him to no ends. "Why do you hunt your own kind?" the Dragon asked as it began to lie down and roll onto its back, Renatus surprised at this blinked owlishly before realising it'd probably be best to let go before being crushed. He hopped off landing rather awkwardly, the Dragon once on its back rolled back onto his feet in a defensive stance, its eyes looking for him.
Renatus didn't know how to respond usually a Dragon would yell at him telling him how much of an abomination he was, while trying to kill him of course but a genuine question? The Dragon even compared itself to be kiin to Renatus which surprised him even further. Renatus blew a puff of fire into the air, not directly at the Dragon but to get its attention "I'm an abomination am I not?" Renatus spoke in a slightly mocking manner, "Isn't that what an abomination does?" he was curious about this Dragon, but he was being cautious, "better safe than sorry" his mother used to tell him.
βDefending yourself, perhaps...β He turned his head to the side, βYes, defending yourself and territory makes sense.β His mouth twitched as he thought back to when the hybrid shot down the other dragon and tried to force it to fight. βBut, you instigated a fight with a fire breather who obviously wanted to be peaceful.β
Loz lowered his head and stretched out his neck so that he was as close to the hybrid as he could be without being tempted to eat him. βTell me why you attack your own kind... are you flamer?β He paused as his eyes darted away, βThat would explain your strength...β He grumbled before locking his eyes back onto the hybrid.

"Defending yourself, perhaps..." the Dragon turned his head to the side, "Yes, defending yourself and territory makes sense." Renatus noticed the Dragon twitch his head, Renatus stifled a small grin, but question sprung to his mind "What do you mean?" his voice was ragged, and rough "I was hunting." The Dragon continued probably deep in thought "But, you instigated a fight with a fire breather who obviously wanted to be peaceful.β
The Dragon stretched out his neck, he was fairly close and Renatus resisted the urge to attack the Dragon it would've been fairly easy to lay in a final blow, "Tell me why you attack your own kind... are you flamer?β the Dragon paused as his eyes darted away, βThat would explain your strength...β the Dragon grumbled before locking his eyes back onto Renatus "Really you wanted to ask me that?" Renatus spoke, simply "I thought that the answer would be fairly obvious." Renatus eyes focused on the Dragon's eyes "I'll tell you if you tell why do you attack humans?" Renatus' voice turned into an accusing one "They're intelligent they think and feel and you disregard this and lay waste to them for... fun." Renatus features contorted into a frown, the Dragon's answer is certainly going to be interesting.
The dragon pawed back over to where he was and laid down on his belly keeping his head up and eyes locked on the person in front of him. "Besides," His tone grew darker and a bit bitter, "I don't think that my species is the one who put my home in its current condition..." He let out a short growl before bursting into laughter. The thunder dragons have never thrived so much. The war was the best thing that could have happened to them. "Actually, I love what your people have done to the place." He bit into a tree so poisoned that its bark had turned gray and its leaves, while still alive, had a purple tint to them.
Savoring the flavor of the sick tree Loz almost forgot he was with another. "What's your reason, hybrid?" He huffed as he dug his claws into the ground. He lowered his head some but kept his distance as he sniffed the man. He smelled like human. Too much like human. But, he knew the dragon blood was in him, he could smell it. His head tilted to the side some. Should I eat you or... Something made Loz want to keep this one alive. He seemed like a tough one, plus it was his first meeting with a hybrid after all. Maybe he'll be some fun... The dragon licked his lips as he kept his eyes locked onto the hybrid not moving for any distraction. It probably would come off as him trying to size up the hybrid or maybe even about to kill him.

And before I submit my post, I'm going to take this remaining time to reflect..."Daaa...fuck."
And I DID read his profile, but since they've never meet, can't expect Relif to immediatly know that Drograh hates hybrids TOO. Though...I did put myself in this situation with NO SUPPLIES and NO ARMOR. Lady Luck is not with me today. T-T;

Don't worry, Drograh isn't in a murderthon mood just yet so I think you can get away with him being to lazy at the moment to really care about one human...

And I totally understand that everyone has a life. I'm not trying to rush anyone into posting. So... yeah... that's it. I'm gonna finish typing my post now. >.>
Re: [OOC] Raise
Actually, Relif is heading towards the river now. He can appear at the river relatively close to him, I guess. Though, not too close, if you get my meaning. He maybe fathered by a fire dragon, but I don't want him to end up like the town he encountered. .-.
As for not posting, I've just been gone for awhile, not dead. Got flooded by school and whatnot following spring break, but now I'll be on more and posting whenever I can.

And WOW... I had totally logged in with the intent to post at least once in all my roleplays but... I am really dead... Tomorrow evening I'll reply. I know its been a while... and some people are waiting for everyone to come back and post. Hopefully everyone starts posting again within the next couple of days otherwise I'll send out PM's to the inactive members... not that we have a lot of inactivity just a couple people that I realized haven't posted in a while.
Re: [OOC] Raise
Sorry that it's so long. I wanted to be descriptive since I came in SLIGHTLY late. But basiclly Relif is in a ruined shack in the town Drograh "annihilated". If theres anyone else there, he just hasn't encountered them yet, considering he came from the Outskirts, which is the opposite direction form anyone else who came to investigate the town.
