Within a tree not too far from the Ursa Estate itself, faint, low humming could be heard in a melancholy, deep voice. Leaning against the main trunk of the tree whilst sitting on a branch was one of many lesser known members of the Hidden Acres and its secrets: A Draconian.

His Seven foot long black tail hung down from his lower back, almost acting of its own accord as it hung almost to about four feet from the ground. He wasn't in a particularly large tree, but it was strong and healthy; plenty enough to support his weight as he sat. His silk, almost royal-like robes fluttered in the breeze, his piercing eyes lay closed as he sat humming along.

In fact the tree he sat in was rather close to the gates of the Ursa estates; something his family had decided to protect until the masters of the estate returned to claim it. Up his arms, staring with his claw-like fingers ran scales, smooth, and yet jagged at the same time. From his forehead sprouted horns, which curled back, following the curve of his head with some space between said head and the horns themselves. His hair was messy, but short and manageable. The end of his tail twitched softly as he sat, his head rested against the trunk of the tree. There wasn't much to do as of late.

His eyes would open as he heard talk and conversation not far off. Looking around for the source his ears seemed to twitch, and his tail continued to hang limply beneath him. He was on the main path to the Ursa Home, so he'd wait for them to come to him. But come to think of it...that'd be boring.

His tail coiled quickly and allowed him to stand up. Once up he'd proceed through the trees towards where Akira, Teddy, and Stride were located. That smell....a male? Another male, no less, and.....even better, an Ursa! A small smirk splayed across his face as he slowed down and quieted his movements, allowing him to hear the conversation going on between Teddy and Stride. Smiling as he stopped, tail coiled like that of a lemur he sat crouched on a branch not too far away from Akira.

He sniffed a few times, and located where she was, giving her a warm smile and a wink he vanished from sight as he moved from tree to tree again, quietly and stealthily. Stride moved into the light, and then Akira followed. He tilted his head and his tail coiled around the branch he stood crouched upon.

"Methinks it's time for a prank....." he thought with a smirk, white, pointed teeth gleaming. He began to click his tongue and rattle his throat, the sound of a low, droning growl emanating forth from his mouth towards Teddy, Stride, and Akira. This growl soon turned into a sort of hiss, and after he was done, the area was dead quiet. Then he moved.

Moving to the branch behind where Teddy stood, Lehhav the Draconian slowly lowered himself by his tail, hissing and growling again before he stopped; hanging upside down, his robes not cooperating with him before he managed to move them, revealing his muscular midriff in the process, but allowing him to see what he was doing.

"Heya, how's it goin'? You kids wanna see something cool?" He said, his voice imitating that of a 1950's salesman.

A large spring was nestled in the forest about fifteen minutes walk from the Ursa summer home, and the scene was peaceful and tranquil. The foliage was healthy and green, the spring water clear and refreshing, a small waterfall provided a gentle melody. It would look like any other picture worthy nature scene, save for one strange figure on a large rock.

Near the eastern corner of the spring was a cluster of rocks mere feet from the main incline from which the water poured and washed over the stones into the pool of water. Upon the largest of these rocks lay a curled up figure that seemed partially human.

A tanned young woman's torso was followed by a serpentine tail starting just below her navel. In addition to ebony black hair, she had a crest starting at her head and running along the back of her neck. A cobra's hood upon closer inspection. The strange being basked in the sun, looking quite relaxed.

After a few minutes, the female's amber eyes slowly blinked open, the nagini rubbing the sleep from her face as she sat up. A forked tongue tasted the air as she yawned, glancing around at her surroundings.

Lalita stretched, uncoiling herself before glancing around at the rest of the forest, trees surrounding her little oasis of sorts (though one could hardly call it that in such a thriving ecosystem as the 'hidden acres') and hiding all sorts of fellow non-humans. A quick glance told her she was alone at the moment- something she would seek to remedy as soon as possible. She hated solitude- and the nagini was eager to have company now that she was awake.

Stirring the water idly with a finger as she leaned from her perch on the rock, Lalita wondered where her friend Akira was. Well, at least she considered Akira a friend. The kitsune in question seemed to at least not mind her presence.

"Akiiiiiiira! Where are you?" she called out, hoping the other girl would be nearby and willing to play with her. She began to slither into the water and back out onto the shore of the spring, ready to go looking for company should she need to. Lalita was so focused on her 'mission' of sorts, that she failed to sense the presence of others not far from her little slice of paradise in the woods.

After recovering from his brief spook, Teddy had stood up and began to feel a little more comfortable that the woman had somehow known his family. Looking at her mask began to give him a kind of dread, the kind when everything you had known your whole life could be wrong. That mask began to make him think that he had been sheltered from what could be criminal activity in his family. He looked down, then began to speak in a voice that sounded like he had forced them through his throat, "What... What has my family been affiliated with?"

When Akira came, Teddy turned to her voice, and was bewildered at best by her appearance. It's safe to assume that he had never seen a kitsune before. She had mentioned Teddy being the Ursa heir, it is true that he is the heir of the family fortune, but now he began to wonder what he'd become responsible over now that he met these two women. He began to wonder, what the hell is his family running here? He noted that a few members of his family were... A bit zany.

He then shook off his bewilderment, he hadn't even introduced himself! He then began to firm his posture and addressed the women, "My name's Teddy Ursa, and I am the heir to the family fortune," he announced, "But what do you mean by a grand tour?"

He braces himself on whether this is just an elaborate prank by his mother to teach him a lesson, or if his family REALLY did have some problems with costumed individuals like these. He was unaware of Lehhav sneaking up on him. It was a stage set for Teddy being spooked again by the draconian. He then rolled onto his back... He couldn't contain it anymore after seeing the one who startled him... "WHAT THE HELL IS MY FAMILY RUNNING!?" He explodes in what is about to be a vocal ranting.

Walking around Supernatural Village, Ondona visited multiple shops buying things like eggs, bread, and spice. Of course she bought herself a box of chocolates and bought Royka a brand new white tie since he had given some hints about wanting a new tie. After gathering her items which she placed inside her purse, she began to wander into the woods to gather the last thing on her shopping list: some meat.

As a Goddess of the hunt, she could easily hunt down game with no effort at all. Now she could have just gotten the mat the easy way and just buy it from one of the store back in the village but she wanted to hunt down an animal herself, there was a sort of satisfaction in eating something you got yourself. Taking out her bow and a single arrow she began to look around for any tracks or animals in the distance while keeping an ear out for any sounds, she did hear sounds but not the sounds of a boar scrounging in the mud, but the sound of people talking. She heard a female voice call out for someone named "Akira" and the other voice she heard was the sound of a young man exploding "WHAT THE HELL IS MY FAMILY RUNNING!?" Worried that there was a fight going on she wandered in the direction where the group of voices originated from.

She soon arrived and saw the figures of four different people with three of them being fellow supernatural beings, but the fourth person caught her attention. The young man was humanoid in appearance, had no apparent features to distinguish what type of monster he was, and seemed confused and a tad bit angry. There were only a few things that matched the young mans discription and came to the conculsion he was a human. She had not seen a human for a long time, a very long time at that and that got her curious.

Walking closer to the group she decided to greet everyone. "Hello everyone." she greeted before taking a look at the human whose back was on the floor and decided to talk to him. "And greeting sir, I hope you are fine this morning."

Stride blinked.

And blinked again.

And blinked one more time, just for the hell of it.

“They didn’t tell you.” The words were phrased more of a statement than anything, delivered in the most deadpan voice that the woman could pull off. Slowly, her gaze once again scanned Teddy, this time with more of a dawning sense of disbelief than anything. “They really didn’t tell you. You’ve got to be shittin’ me, here. They didn’t fuckin’ tell you.” Stride knew very well about the reputation of the Ursas. Of guardians, well enough in their job to have kept the Haven safe from discovery for decades to come. Apparently, however, through all of their more positive traits, they couldn’t be bothered to have a smidgen of common sense.

Running a hand through her hair- and sending the locks flying even more wildly than before- the guard squinted at the other, although before she could speak further on the subject she became aware of another presence close by. Surprised, Stride turned on her heel, only to come face-to-face with a kitsune. Someone from the village, no doubt, but this was becoming quite the chain of events. It was rare for anyone to be so far out, after all, and even rarer that it wasn’t someone affiliated with the official keepers of the Veil. After taking a moment to try and identify the woman’s identity, it suddenly struck her- one of the Iwasaki family. Fairly harmless, really, but hanging around near the edge of the forest wasn’t exactly a privilege just because you were known well enough.

“Hey, lady,” she began, “I don’t care if ya wanna come along n’ show Blondie the sights, but ya do know you’re not supposed to be ‘round here, yeah?” The last time someone had wandered so close to the barrier, the aftermath had brought enough paperwork to make a table out of. Of course, after that little event, Stride had long since stopped calling the rest of the guard for littler grievances like this, but she hadn’t become lax enough to let someone simply wander about for no apparent reason.

And then, adding upon the little chain of random events that had begun to build, a low
growling had begun to build in the undergrowth. Unlike before, where the occurrences of human and villager alike had brought little more than dry dialogue from the hybrid, Stride immediately paused. In a casual, hardly noticeable stream of movement, she unlatched the crossbow from her hip and allowed it to slip neatly into her waiting hand. There was, otherwise, no sign of wariness or fear at the approaching sound.

At least, until Lehav left hiding.

It took little time for Stride to take action. One moment, she had been facing both Akira and Teddy, and in the next she was
not. It was to a beat that she shifted, bow suddenly loaded as she turned towards the sound’s location. One, two, three. Crossbow tucked under her chin, hand running against the polished wood as gently as if it were a lover. One, two, three. The point of an arrow aimed preemptively at a target. One, two-

Her finger had been placed upon the trigger, just about ready to let the arrow meet flesh when she caught sight of the apparent “danger”. Immediately, Stride caught herself, letting out a muffled curse as she lowered the crossbow and stared down the stranger- just another random civilian. “Fuckin’ damnit fucker
” Slipping the arrow back into its quiver, she began to place her weaponry back in its proper place, as if the entire ordeal hadn’t happened. Once that was taken care of, however, she brought her eyes back up, lips pulled back in a silent snarl.

“You stupid fuck! I could’a just killed ya there, ya know!” Her middle finger had quickly risen up in one of the most indignant expressions she could give at the moment, waggling rapidly at Lehav in order to get the notion across. After a few seconds of this, the gesture ceased, and Stride allowed her arms to lower in favor of making any more inappropriate signs. “Don’t they teach you not to go up n’ try n’ do shit like this to an armed guard?” She hissed. “Asswipe.”

For what could be said about Stride, one would be hard-pressed to say that she didn’t, at the very least, take her job somewhat seriously. It had been a part of her life for many years now- a driving force in a majority of her motives. It was a job as a defender to the people, even if the job tended to be left unappreciated. As such, upon hearing the distant cry of yet another villager, and watching the approach of another, her irritation was very much visible in spite of her obscured features.

“Did someone call a fuckin’ town meetin’ out here?” Practically growling the words, the guard’s hand flew to her head, mussing her hair even further into a total mess. “Look, I don’t know why you all wanted to join the party here, but you’re both breakin’ the damn law, n’ scarin’ the shit outta the Ursa kid. You got it?”

However, before he could respond, Stride chose then of all times to have his words click in her head. Something she had missed, through her fuming at the sudden gathering.
The kid’s name.

“Wait.” Slowly, Stride turned to face the other, regarding the blond as he sat back on the forest floor. “Did you just say your name was
Teddy Ursa?” A pause, and a realization. “Like
’Teddy Bear’? Your parents named you teddy bear?”

At that, a quiet snorting began to erupt from behind the mask, and some of the tension left her shoulders as laughter began to break free. “Can see why they didn’t tell ya all ‘bout this, now,” she said, once she had composed herself enough to speak. “Your parents must’ve been on some really good shit when they had you. Fuckin’ teddy bear.” Stride went silent for a moments, attempting to stifle the remaining humor

Only to immediately fail, and start cracking up again.

Akira was just as irritated as Stride was when several other supernatural denizens made their way towards the Ursa heir, though she didn't show her displeasure quite as visibly. The "grand tour" was seemingly content to come to them, rather than the standard procedure; among the faces present she spotted Lehhav and pinched the bridge of her nose in exasperation. Of all the times, he had to choose now to pull one of those pranks of his?

Looking back at Teddy, it was clear that his parents hadn't told him anything about Hidden Acres or his family's affiliation with the supernatural. She almost felt sorry for him, innocently exploring the woods one moment, then suddenly finding the locals crowding round him like iron filings to a magnet. Stride cracking up at his unfortunate name probably didn't help either. "If you really don't know, then I suppose you're owed an explanation," Akira told the human. "I could tell you more, but personally I'd prefer somewhere more private, away from all these gawkers. Follow me if you wish, Teddy, unless you'd rather talk later."

Turning on her heel to leave, the kitsune heard her name being called by her friend Lalita. The poor dear probably wanted some company again; Akira hadn't yet visited her today. She set off in the direction of the snake-woman's voice. Teddy was free to follow, assuming he could somehow weasel his way out of the attention of the others, which didn't seem too likely at this point. Still, at least Stride was with him, so Akira knew that he was in good hands, relatively speaking.

Lehhav only let out a small hiss at Stride when she'd cursed at him; but it was in reaction to seeing the crossbow pointed at him; an instinct reaction. "Quite frankly, Missy, no one appointed ya to be the official guard of the Ursa residence." he said in a sassy voice, swaying back and forth, his tail keeping him upside down from the branch he hung upon. He even snapped his clawed fingers in a Z-formation.

Get rekt Stride.

Wait, Ursa? Seemingly forgetting the fact that he'd confirmed this by scent a few minutes ago, Lehhav turned to Teddy at that and his tail strained as it flipped him right-side up and dropped him fro the tree. He landed on all fours, claws digging into the loose dirt and he tilted his head as he stood and faced the scared boy. He skittered up to Teddy and stopped mere inches from him, intimidating Draconian eyes squinting as his nostrils flared out and he took a big whiff.

Yep. This poor sap was an Ursa.

Shrugging, Lehhav rather gracefully twirled away as if he were a ballerina. At this point, one would notice that his feet were clawed as well, Draconian in nature, with scales running up his leg to his middle thigh, though his legs were not visible from under his robes. Smiling, his fangs gleamed as he offered a low bow to Teddy Ursa.

"Many greetings be upon you, O' Mighty Teddy Bear! May you keep our homeland safe, and your...." he paused as he looked at Teddy; no horribly visible muscle like the legends had said before; of the barbarians and all that. "...heart stay large?" he shrugged and slumped, his tail twitching behind him idly as he stood there, looking rather defeated with himself.

The midday sun helped dry the nagini in a timely manner, said creature doing her best to keep away from large patches of shade provided by the forest. Shade was fine, but the warmth of the sun was by far preferable to her. Being too cool made her feel quite unwell.

Lalita began to pout at her situation- she hated being alone! She didn't particularly want to go to the village, the place in question not entirely friendly towards her kind. Some of the residents tended to shrink away from some of the more uncommon or scaly species of non-humans. Of course many species of supernatural didn't get along, but all species had their own little niche they fit in for the most part. The village just happened to not be one of hers- it was often the more 'sophisticated' or 'civil' types that resided in the cozy village.

It was during her mental debate to seek company outside of her comfort zone when she finally caught one of the more familiar scents she was accustomed to: the scent of one very special kitsune. Lalita quickly slithered in the direction of the scent, eyes wide and brimming with delight. Akira was nearby!

It was a mere minute later than she caught sight of the graceful female, causing her movements to speed up until she all but tackled her friend with the strength of her hug.

"Akira! You're here! I was looking for you...I was hoping you'd come and see me." gushed the snake-girl, releasing her hold slightly to smile at the kitsune, the end of her tail twitching in excitement. "And you look lovely as ever! What'chu doing today huh?" Lalita hugged the poor object of her attention once more, nuzzling against her with a happy sigh. "You're always so warm! I wish I had some cozy fur somewhere on me too!"

He turns to see Ondona as she calls out, she looked normal enough, minus the pink hair. He begins to blush at how she looked like one in his social class, causing him to begin to think he was in a rather embarrassing scenario. With the bow, Teddy began to think this was another costumed individual.

Teddy began to notice the guard complaining how his family didn't tell him something, then getting her weapon ready before realizing that it was only an individual she knew. Teddy began to think that the guard was working on something important. But what did his family not tell him, was he to inherit much more than a fortune. Teddy began to go into thought, but only to blush even more at Stride laughing at his name. It also didn't help when the apparent resident prankster began to mock him as well. But somehow he felt it was also a strange mark of respect.

Akira managed to catch his attention, he began to follow so she could explain. He was about to ask, but was interrupted at the sight of a serpentine woman! Teddy went into a state of shock, awe, and fear, this individual seemed to real for a costume. He stood there, eyes twitching, and was stuck in a vocal dead space of, "mehs," in various pitches.

What a polite young man, Ondona thought to herself as she watched Teddy give a bow. She in return gave a curtsy in his direction, to be polite as well. But something struck her when the others began to mention the name Ursa...Ursa...She thought to herself. Now where did she hear that name? Thinking far back she could recall meeting a tribe or warriors led by a man with the exact last name, interesting, she was meeting the mans decedent.

As she listened to the others, Teddy began to leave with Akira and left just as fast as he had arrived. She decided not to follow them and decided to do what she had planned to do in the first place, and that was to hunt. She began to walk away from the group giving then a small wave as she did. She rarely talked to the others and they rarely talked to her as a result, she did not know what to do in a situation like this, should she really leave without talking? Should she have tried starting a conversation? It was much better to go now and not make a awkward moment.

“Oh, yeah?”

It was with a certain smug satisfaction- a satisfaction cultured over years of sweat, muscle, and work- that the guard regarded Lehhav for a few moments, silver brow arched in further questioning as the draconian kept up his little punk-ass attitude. It was only when she had seen that the kid had stopped talking that Stride pulled something from the fabric of her jacket, lifting it for better inspection.

It was a brooch, or, more aptly put, a badge that the woman had drawn attention to. Lacings of silver coiled snugly about a single apatite gemstone. It created a cage of sorts about the jewel before branching outwards, forming a pair of twin blades, wings. A bit of text had been sewn neatly into the leather that held the emblem, but it was only until Stride spoke again that the meaning of the thing became clear, if it hadn’t already.

“Veil Guardian P. A. Stride, Lieutenant. Placed on official patrol of the Ursa Residential Area by General Robert Falkus eleven months prior, and has been patrolling the selected section of the border for exactly ten months. Orders are to watch the residence until the Ursa Family returns, and provide support as needed.” Despite the raggard phrasing of her words beforehand, it was with no small amount of formality that she spoke now. Even her stance had shifted, boots clicking neatly together in a way not unfamiliar to any army force.

However, as one might expect, the formality faded just as quickly as it had appeared. Goodbye, sayonara, baby, it was nice to know you.

“So, if ya wanna get all pissy ‘bout me doin’ my job, ya can go ‘head and take it up with the Marshal. Otherwise, ya can shove it.”

By the time that Lalita and Ellie had arrived, Stride had already grown used to the fact that some random parade had decided to show up and welcome Teddy- little more than a “god damnit” had escaped her, as well as a “the fuck are they teachin’ ‘bout public safety these days” before she suddenly turned to face a good majority of the group, voice raised so as to be heard above the clamor.

“If you guys heard that, that means that ya need to get the fuck away from here ‘fore ya end up gettin’ thrown in jail. Ya hear? I don’t care if ya wanna hang out with Mr. Snuggles here, but you’re pretty much breakin’ the law here.”

The young Draconian turned his head back to Stride as she spoke and showed him the badge. His lip twitched gently as he huffed and turned his head away, acknowledging her authority now, though doing so reluctantly. And it then came to the order of clearing out. He blinked, his predatory eyes glancing over at Stride to see if she was kidding. But alas, he should know better. She wasn't.

"We shall meet again in due time, Monsieur Teddy Bear~" he said, giving an over dramatic bow again before springing himself into the trees and taking off towards his home.

The nagini beamed happily at the returned hug, finally releasing Akira so she could move about properly. The kitsune's voice sounded as lovely and amiable as ever- her smile further encouraging Lalita that the friendship was mutual and both parties were enjoying the company. Lalita even flushed momentarily in delight upon hearing the kitsune assure that she hadn't forgotten about her.

The serpentine woman perked up even more if possible, a look of amazement in her eyes and manifesting in her voice. "A human!? Really?" exclaimed the nagini, slithering back and forth in excitement. She'd never seen a regular human before! Well, at least not as far as she was aware. Fascination bubbling inside, Lalita began to badger her friend with questions, her words coming out quickly in her excitement.

"What did he look like? Was he nice? Did he smell interesting? Where'd he come from? Is it just one human? Is he scary? What was he like?" she asked, practically bouncing around as her curiosity was piqued. Her tail twitched and even her hood flared automatically- eyes dancing with wonder as she awaited every word with rapt attention.

It was only after she stopped speaking that she started noticing the other scents of not-too-far-off living beings. She recognized at least two, but the others she wasn't familiar with.
