She may appear short, but you'd often be mistaken due to this girl's huge personality which shines through every bit of body language she has. Her large expressive crimson eyes, her big beaming smile, her deep furious scowls, no matter what this girl is feeling you are near guaranteed to know. No one wears their heart on their sleeve quite as obviously as Aria herself. Still, don't let this fool you, the girl has more in her head than you'd think. Her hair is fluffy and loose - dyed of course - which only betters her appearance. Despite being physically fit and quite athletic, hardly any of it shows on her slight form. There is a definite lack of muscle on her frame, but don't think that she isn't carefully toned over her arms and legs and her core.

On stage, Aria dresses up in elaborate gothic lolita fashion, all thanks to the advice of her Agent, a certain Richard Kitsune. Big frilly dresses, wing props on her back, a magical girl staff, Aria can wield a variety of different costume sets to good effect. When she isn't being the Little Sinner, however, the girl has a much more casual wardrobe, enjoying sweaters and jeans. You could almost consider her fashion blind if you didn't consider her life as an idol. But always on her is a black glove dark enough to stifle the gently glowing spider lily marked on her left hand like a tattoo.

The Goddess's Notes:

Ah, my big sister. Precious Aria, you suffer so much in every timeline, partly because of me and my illness. To this, I apologize, and I hope that this version of you fares better than the others have. Sadly, because your world this time is separate from mine, I can't influence it to protect and guide you. It's up to you to decide how to go about this labyrinth Thanos cursed you into. You're so thick-headed and dramatic yet despite this, your heart is bigger than anyone else's. I trust you to use your loving nature correctly this time, and to not let it be stifled by the darkness of the world around you. You're so easy to fall to the darkness, you need to learn to trust your friends and companions instead of your own often misfired assumptions. Don't let the darkness stain your beautiful spider lily - it deserves to glow with all the might it has given you.

I know that you're going to choose Yui over me. It's simply written into destiny itself, that Aria becomes Yui's Destined Guardian. Just in case the other me goes awry, don't let it distract you from your duty of protecting Yui until it is time for her to decide whether or not she wishes to ascend. You can shine so brightly, sis, if only you don't let yourself be corrupted. This you is already different - you haven't resorted to desperate attempts to find the truth, you haven't yet taken a life to shake your resolve in your cause. As unlikely as it is, I hope you never have to take someone else's life in this war. Someone gentle like you shouldn't have to carry that burden.

My dearest sister, you deserve nothing but happiness. Please don't lose your way.

Kenshiro Matsuri | 46 | Father | Alive
Hazuki Matsuri | 41 | Mother | Died at 32
Natsuo Matsuri | 22 | Older Brother | Alive
Mizuki Matsuri | 15 | Younger Sister | Alive

{β˜› β’½β’Ύβ“ˆβ“‰β“„β“‡β“Ž ☚}

Kenshiro and Hazuki were chosen to breed together by Hime to create children who were obedient and good at following orders, just like they were. While for Natsuo that may have worked, for Aria, the opposite was true. Aria was always a natural rebel, always rambunctious and causing trouble. Whether it was with Yurei, running rampant around school grounds to look for rumors of ghosts and spirits, or if it was breaking into nightclubs with Xavier and pretending to be an adult, Aria was never one to follow rules. The Matsuri house was a warm one to be sure, and Aria felt home there. With a caring father, a doting mother, a playful big brother and a silly little sister, everything felt right.

Well, until Hazuki suddenly died of a heart attack. Kenshiro buried himself in work, and Aria began acting out in bad ways, forcing conflicts between herself and Natsuo without Ken home to mediate. It happened when Aria was ten years old and the house would never be the same ever since. Aria was restless, and things only got worse when Damian's family was suddenly eradicated by what was apparently a burglar. She didn't know what to do and so suddenly someone had an answer. "Why don't you become an idol?" Mizuki suggested one day. "It'll help you control your emotions!" So with help from cookies and her little sister's best wishes, Aria found an agent willing to entertain her, someone known as Richard Kitsune. He took her under his wing and she began her life as the Little Sinner.

Life continued until one day Aria was whisked away from the Budokan by someone who she would find out was named Nagumo - an agent of a cult known as Prometheus, one Aria still had no idea of. He stripped her, tied her up and took many pictures and told her to pose in various ways. It was only because of Xavier, Damian, and Richie that she was found and rescued - and that was when she saw her first light bearing mark, her agent's fire. The poor girl was in a panic, she didn't know what to do and it was only because of Richie's soft touches and gentle words that she could calm down. And sure, maybe it was inappropriate, but some sort of affection blossomed between the two.

When Xavier and Damian graduated from Kasamino Academy, they vanished without a trace. To make matters worse, no matter where she and Yurei looked, they found no hair nor hide of her good friends. In their desperate search, a man with a snake around his arm hunted them down, his job to kill anyone who attempted to join the Freedom Fighters. If it wasn't for Aria suddenly gaining her spider lily, both she and Yurei would have died. As a result, Mizuki was taken from the Matsuri home and neither Kenshiro nor Natsuo would say a word. Aria, with her newfound powers, was ready to begin a hunt all across New Tokyo but that was when Xavier appeared at her front door, inviting her to join a certain Freedom Fighters.

Two years later, Aria turned nineteen. Two years later, Mizuki was still unaccounted for. Two years later, Operation Loretta was to begin.

One by one the others came upstairs and Yui ended up in Jenny's lap, Jenny brushing Yui's short locks until they gleamed. Her head had been shaved when they rescued her, but in just a few short weeks it now tickled her ears. Yui fingered the end of a strand, having never seen her hair before. It was caramel colored, almost auburn with strawberry streaks. "Look how pretty, I'm sure when it's longer you'll have beautiful ringlets," Jenny said, tying the two front pieces back with a pretty bow. Jenny held up a small mirror, showing it to Yui. The little girl started, burying her face in Jenny's waist. Who was that person?Where had she come from? Jenny giggled as Xavier smiled. "What's wrong Yui? Never seen your own reflection?" Yui shook her had. In fact, no, she really had never seen her reflection before now.

"Really? Well, here," Xavier handed her the mirror and Yui looked, staring at the girl who was her. Big blue eyes, short caramel hair, pale, almost porcelain skin that glistened in the low light as though it contained the secret to youth. She touched the reflection, making sure it was really nothing more than a mirror. Xavier went to call Aria up, finding this vastly entertaining. Yui made an ugly face, watching as her reflection did the same thing. She made a silly face and the mirror followed. Yui turned to hand it back to Jenny and reached around to feel the hair bow. "Come on, don't ruin it, you look so cute!" Aria and Xavier came up the stairs, all of them sitting around the kotatsu until Damian came and Yui moved to a pillow with them all, wondering what all the bowls were for.

Yui looked between Aria and Jenny, noticing something distinctly different between her and them. Was Yui a girl too? She looked around at the Freedom Fighters and placed her hands at the top of her ribs, mimicking a chest. Why didn't Yui have one? Maybe she was a boy like Xavier and Damian? What made people boys and girls? Was it whether their chests were big or small? Yui looked around the table, Xavier, Damian, and Leo all had flat chests.

So Yui was a boy then!

Water almost squirted out of Damian's nose. "No Yui, you are not a boy." Xavier began laughing, Leo and Jenny both joining in. Yui looked at Aria for help, confusion evident on her face. If Yui wasn't a girl and she wasn't a boy, then what was she?

"You're a girl Yui," Leo said somewhat firmly. "It's not about chest size, it's about other things. Like identity and chemical aspects." Oh, so would Yui grow to have big udders, as Aria called them, like Jenny? "You're still young, so you have plenty of time to worry about that." The table became quiet with the clink of chopsticks, Yui watching them all eat while a bottle of broth sat in front of her, untouched. Aria started teasing her, saying that she was eating fish. Yui knew what fish was, it was what Aria called her, but why was she eating it? Yui blinked, looking around the table. They were all eating fish, but as far as Yui knew, she was whole. So what did that mean?

Soon they were discussing other people and Yui listened intently, wondering who all of these names belonged to. Then Aria began to speak of a Mizuki and somehow it was familiar. Yui shook her head, she didn't know a Mizuki, but somewhere in her chest, her heart throbbed because of Aria's sadness. "Ari!" Xavier jumped into action, hugging her in his arms. Yui placed her hand on Ari's thigh, looking up at her face, clearly concerned. "Rrr?" Yui asked, inquiring as to whether or not she would be okay.

Ever since Yui made that display, a new habit formed that the idol would absolutely refuse to admit to. Every night, especially after they moved Yui into the spare room, Aria would without fail sneak in and use the fish as a late night snuggle buddy. But instead of just silently snuggling the fish, she would talk to her and teach her things and show her the world through her illusions. Aria taught Yui the wonders of the world, the Eiffel Tower, China's Great Wall, another large wall in Europe blocking Germany and Italy off from the farther east - a wall known as the Bismark Wall, one of the new wonders of the world ever since a nuclear war was threatened between Russia and North Korea many years ago. Aria taught Yui all of these things, she showed Yui the ocean, she showed Yui the sky, she even showed Yui space all thanks to the illusive nature of her powers.

------------------

An explosion. "Midori, get Ao out of here!" Shibou yelled. Of the prestigious Tsukasa family that controlled Tokoy's Yakuza Cell for so many years, ever since Ira Shoku came to the stage it had been shame after shame after shame. The Yakuza feared no one, they were brave and strong and could instill fear into anyone's hearts, no matter who they were. But ever since that day, when his father and older brothers were killed by that mysterious little boy with blood tails behind him, ever since his elder sister who took their place was arrested and executed in the dungeons by what rumors called 'Shoku's Black Songbird.' While Loretta was very much a secret, it was well known that Shoku did have another hand. His right and dominant hand was the Black Reaper, but perhaps even more deadly was his always hidden left hand, nicknamed the Black Songbird. All he had left was the two children of the former head of the Yakuza, his now dead elder sister. Midori, the older sibling and the daughter, and Ao, the son, still just a child.

"Uncle Shinobu, we won't just abandon you!" Midori whimpered, holding her arm. It was a secret within the Yakuza that little Midori Tsukasa was a light bearer. She had the power of vines and could make them sprout from her hands to use as weapons and traps as needed. Maybe he would have given Midori to the Freedom Fighters for safety, maybe that would have been the best idea, but that wasn't an option. He just couldn't, because of what this woman said to him before. She called herself K and warned him not to trust the Freedom Fighter's Hime or Mayumi. According to K they were looking for someone to experiment on, and Midori was elgible for whatever they had planned. He wasn't going to let that happen. So of course he would never obey whatever the Freedom Fighters wanted.

He belonged to a proud family that was on it's last legs. But even if the smartest thing would be to join up with his enemies, he wouldn't let them get their hands on his niece. "Midori, the Black Reaper's far too strong, even for you." He growled, standing up, ready to face his enemies. Ao looked confused, the kid really was barely more than an infant. "Then run away with me, Uncle." The girl protested, wringing her hands. "Mommy told me to protect you." Shinobu was widely seen as the weakest of the siblings in his family. The youngest, he was the baby. But now, he was all that was left. "I'll-

And that was when the Black Reaper appeared in all of his full might. "Shoku says it's time to wipe crime out of this city." He clenched his fist, blood tails floating up behind him. "Personally, I don't really care about crime. My orders are to eliminate you and take the girl in with me." He pointed to Midori and grinned. "Do try to make this fun." Shinobu grabbed at his niece by the arm but she twisted herself free, a forest of vines sprouting up from the ground. "Stop!" She screamed, a sword of hardened vines appearing in her hands. "You've hurt enough of my family!"

Then there was a sudden crack from outside and a fire began to spread despite the snow. Raven and Fox were here. "The Matriarch told me to come save you." Raven said, eyeing up the Black Reaper in anticipation. "None of us is strong enough for the Reaper yet, so follow my lead and we can get out alive." Would they follow orders? Still, this was a very surgical strike on Shoku's part. While Raven had the forces to rescue Shinobu and his family, pretty much all of the other Yakuza hideouts were being burned to the ground by various enforcers as they spoke. If the Freedom Fighters didn't lend their aid, by the end of the weak the entirety of the Yakuza would be nothing more than a memory of the past.

--------------

It was another visit, but once again, not from Ira Shoku. Still at least this time she was expecting it to be Natsuo, maybe he was going to give her another holo recording. Aria was supposed to have had a concert this past weekend, right? She was looking forward to seeing it. Ari never got the right to visit because she wasn't an enforcer, so recordings of her concerts was the best Mizu could hope for when it came to interacting with her sister. Of course, the sick girl was oblivious to Aria's nature as a light bearer and as Nemesis in this world thus far. Matsuoka took Mizu to the meeting room and Natsuo was there, looking distressed. Even weirder still he had a map of Tokyo in his hands, but colored in a way that made it look like a game. Was he here to play?

"I bought a new game." Natsuo said with a soft and fake smile. "The Government controls this part of Tokyo here, see?" He pointed to Minato, Setagaya and a few other districts. "And there are three rebel groups. One is especially strong in Chiyoda and Shinjuku." Mizuki was no idiot. That was the HIVE. "The Second one has influence in Koto (Which was where Odaiba was) and Chuo wards." Natsuo explained, describing the Freedom Fighters. "The first is the strongest but the second is dangerous too." He gulped, then pointed out the last of the three rebel groups. "Then there's this one, their main base is in Bunkyo. They're weak and on their last legs."

Her big brother looked at her worriedly and Mizuki groaned. This was so transparent, but she understood why he had to act so roundabout. You never knew who might be listening. "So as the Government, if I decided to do an all out offensive against the third group, what would I have to worry about most from the other two?" Ah, she saw now. He was trying to ask what the smartest move for the other groups to do. That meant Natsuo really was taking orders from someone either from the HIVE or the Freedom Fighters! "If the first and second created a joint defense group to shelter the third group you're going to have a hard time." If Shoku had attacked one or the other, he would only have to fight two enemies at once, since the Yakuza wasn't going to help. But by targeting the Yakuza, there was no reason for the other two to not join arms and fight, was there? She smiled at her big brother cheerfully. "Please come to me whenever you need game advice!" Mizu even outlined a strategy on a good battleground for them to fight on, one that was beneficial for all three rebel sides. The best spot for them to attack would be the weapons stores in Setagaya and weaken the Enforcers on a whole as their best spare weapons were stolen away.

Aria showed her the world, she used her mystic abilities to make images appear before Yui's very eyes, revealing to her the wonderland that was the universe they lived in. Every night Yui would await eagerly in bed, too excited to fall asleep. On occasion she would drift off until Aria arrived and would be wide awake by the time they were done. Yui learned new words every day and as it turns out, Yui was the talkative type. Now, what she was trying to articulate was anyone's guess. She had a few more words in her bank, but would often sit in front of a dictionary, trying to find a kanji that would satisfy what she was getting across. Today she sat underneath the kotatsu, having graduated from bottles to bowls, a combination of rice porridge and stewed, blended vegetables in it. Yui didn't like it, but Leo made her eat it. He pulled out her PORT, believing that if Yui was hungry, it would force her to eat. For the most part, he was right.

Yui knew there was something wrong when Xavier came to the breakfast table already dressed. "I got a call late last night from Raven, the Black Reaper got to another Yakuza house." Yui hissed, because she knew from eavesdropped conversations that the Black Reaper was bad. He was the enemy, always hurting people, somehow stronger than Aria and Xavier both. "Yui wants...." she trailed off, trying to think. "Help," Damian whispered, projecting the word into her mind. "Yui wants help!" She chimed, sitting up. "You want help with what?" Xavier inquired and Yui shook her head. "Yui wants help... Bad Reaper!" It was Xavier's turn to shake his head. "No, you barely know how to use your abilities." As if to show off, Yui allowed her cut to open and blood to form into a knife. "Yui help," she insisted, but Xavier had made up his mind.

"Bring her with you, it's good experience, just keep her in the getaway car or something." Jenny suggested, yawning. She too, was dressed already. "Fine, we'll have a team meeting about it once Aria gets here. Yui, go get ready," Yui stood, running to her room to prepare for the day. It was going to be cold out, so she pulled on her warmest winter outfit that Aria had bought for her in that little bag of clothing. No one had ever expected Yui to leave the house, which was probably why it wasn't all that warm. She sat eagerly around the kotatsu while Damian put her medicine in front of her in little paper cups. There were a lot of them, vitamins mostly to restore her body. Once everyone was seated, Xavier began briefing them on the situation and the possibility that they might encounter the Black Reaper. Yui growled upon hearing his name again, Damian patting her head and laughing.

"Whatever you do, do not engage. I repeat, DO. NOT. ENGAGE. If you see him, turn around and run as fast as you can. We've been lucky thus far, he's been toying with us, but another brush could very well mean death." After what happened to that child, Xavier wasn't going to take any risks with his team. "Aria, as our strategist I hope that you'll work well together with HIVE's strategist, since we will be collaborating efforts with them to pull this off."

War was going to break out, but before Aria was cleared to fight Leo was going to have to make sure her injured leg was back in working order. Jenny's arm was fine now so hopefully Ari, too, would be able to fight. "See, see, my leg's all good." She grinned wickedly and did a hop and a twirl to prove it to Leo. He made her do half a dance routine before he was satisfied that she could handle it. "Yes!" The idol almost screamed as she sprinted back to the lobby where everyone else was, after quickly dressing up in her winter gear. It was classy, but under the jacket it was also very easy to move in, a good balance of warmth and mobility. And, pft, when did Aria ever wear armor? Xavier almost immediately handed her a harness.

"There, Yui's yours." He said after some deliberation. "A harness?" Sure, it would be good that the fish would finally get to show that rescuing her wasn't a waste of time... (but let's be real, by now everyone was so attached to her that even if Yui was useless they'd still keep her as a cheerleader). "I guess you're my backpack, so I hope you can fight from there." After a brief thought Aria pulled something out of a closet. It was one of her old wigs, one that would obscure Yui's identity at least somewhat. It would also hide the barcode designating Shoku's property. "If we take her out as is someone might think she looks familiar." Aria explained, helping Yui with the wig. "Because we can bet Shoku's after her, based on the reports Leo had."

Do not engage the Black Reaper, that was top priority. But a part of Aria felt almost disappointed. More than half of this excitement was the prospect of going face to face with the Black Reaper all over again. Every single one of her nerves tingled in anticipation for the eventual showdown with the ultimate foe. Was she strong enough yet? When would she be? Her holo buzzed as she flew out with Yui on her back. Xavier and Jenny were were traveling together to secure some of the last safehouses for the Tsukasa family, in the meantime Aria and Yui would fly directly to them to make sure they had a safe escort. Aria and Yui would meet up with the Fox - Raven was staying in Ikebukuro to coordinate the rest of her team since this was a large scale operation, after all. So after grouping with the Fox they'd make sure Shinobu, Midori, and Ao were safe and then once going to the assigned meeting point, they'd follow the safe path determined by Xavier and Jenny's scouting to go to a new safe house.

Helping drug smugglers and prostitute keepers, how times had changed. But these guys weren't the big evil, Ira Shoku was the ultimate enemy here. "You're almost there." Raven was guiding them via the holo. With Damian's help, Raven connected all of the Tokyo Freedom Fighters to her network so she could track everyone's holos, which would be very useful at times like this. Similarly, Damian had access to it too so he could track HIVE members if the need ever rose. "The Fox is waiting outside the door." A few minutes later a handsome and rugged redhead was there. "Hey, Nemi." He smirked, giving Yui a playful salute. "Oh wow, look at this little thing. I didn't know you were pregnant, I could have paid child support!"

"Oh, so you aren't planning on marrying me?" Aria teased back, eyes narrowing just slightly as she poked a finger to her lip. "Child support's only for when we aren't married, silly." She tugged on his tie possessively and glanced back at Yui. "How are you doing? Was it too cold?" She had created a shield of wind to help guard the fish against the worst of the cold but who knew how effective that was? "Ready?" She nodded ad gulped, remembering just how unhelpful Tsukasa was last time. "How is he? Any more willing to cooperate now?" The Fox smiled but it wasn't a happy one. "No, not really. I can't tell if he's stubborn or suicidal." Probably both.

A girl with green hair was trying to soothe the hardened criminal, the scarred and bull-like Shinobu Tsukasa. "Please, uncle, let's just listen to these people. They can take us to safety." Aria could almost sense something glowing under the sleeve on the upper arm but she couldn't be sure. "Remember what K said? These people are no better than Shoku." Aria frowned, already having a headache. She didn't know who K was and frankly she didn't care. "Shoku's trying to kill you. We're trying to save you. I imagine that's just as good a reason as any to follow us." Midori nodded, green pigtails bouncing almost comically. Shinobu just growled, his voice husky and low. "I'm Yakuza, I love or die on my own power. And you're only in it for the one-of-a-kind Ion Engine anyways." He sneered and it was very unkind. "That's where you benefit from this, it's not like you really care if I live or die." Midori whimpered then almost grabbed Yui out of Aria's harness. "But she's so cute! How could such a cute be mean! We have to trust the cute!"

Yui was so excited about getting to come, she wasn't, however, excited to be doing a ride along in a harness. Aria secured a wig to her head and Yui caught a sidelong glance in the mirror. Blue? Yui could never imagine herself with blue hair, but for now she figured it was alright. "Yui... looks... good?" She asked and Jenny smiled, "here, let me braid it for you." Jenny was dressed for battle in a black pair of pants and a heavy jacket that had pockets sewn in to hide her guns. "Good luck everybody, I'll be here, running interference and keeping the team up to date." Damian pat Yui's head. Leo was packing up as well, he had to go to work after all. "My Dad is gonna come by afterwards to check up on everyone," he would also want to draw labs on Aria to make sure that her blood count was back to normal and that there was no infection in her immune stream.

"Sho-ku," just the taste of the word made her shiver. She had memories of a tall, dark man lurking in the shadows of her vision, causing her pain and numbness. If it weren't for him, her recovery would probably have been swift. Yui had lost valuable time and muscle after being stationary for so long. "Bad," Yui whispered, hoping that she would never have to utter that name again. Yui allowed herself to be put into the harness, glad for her long stockings that covered her legs. Xavier bundled her up in a coat that was a size too big, a pair of gloves, and a hat. "There, I think if the wig doesn't obscure her, the hat and over sized coat will." He grinned at their handiwork, giving them a thumb's up. "Everybody ready? Hang on!"

Yui's stomach fluttered with butterflies. It was her first time leaving the safe house in Odaiba, the girl would at long last get to see the world that Aria had given her glimpses of. Her eagerness faded once it was revealed that they were inside of a warehouse on the pier. Of course Yui didn't know this, all she knew was that they were inside of a big-metal house that reeked terribly of fish. There were barrels marked with salted cod stacked against one wall and a small tug boat that had barnacles crusted on the side. It was clear that this place had been abandoned for quite sometime, making it the perfect hideout.

A man swaggered over to Aria, giving Yui a salute. Yui stared up at him, taking in his vibrant red hair and muscular frame. Aria had talked about him many times of course, but his name escaped her. Yui buried her head in Aria's shoulder, this person too, shone brightly like a star. When Yui looked up again, he and Ari were mid-banter, playful around one another. Aria's heart remained the same however, Yui noticed, her blood did not pick up. Not like Jenny's when she was around Xavier. Aria shot Yui a question and the girl shook her head. "Yui is... fine," she replied, reaching for a word that would suit her needs. "Yui is no cold." She shivered slightly despite herself.

Yui buried her face in Aria's back once more as someone squealed, attempting to come close to her. She hadn't anticipated the fact that there would be more people, Yui had just wanted to escape the house, if only for the day. Now she was thinking that it may be a mistake, that all of these people and so much action was far too overwhelming for her senses. "Ari, help." Yui looked up, someone catching her eye. She had short raven colored hair and an eye patch that was stark white.

Help? "Are you okay? Are you having another stroke?" In the very beginning Leo was always afraid of the possibility of seizures or worse happening to the poor fish. Aria couldn't remember if they happened or not but it wouldn't hurt to be sure. "I was flying slow but I guess it wasn't slow enough?" Tsukasa sighed as if he was very bored by this and pointed out the obvious. "She's not comfortable with so many people." He said gruffly with a hint of concern under his voice and it suddenly came to mind that this man was probably used to children. He was taking care of his dead sister's kids right now, wasn't he? "Midori, don't bother her, she's not good with strangers." The green haired girl looked like she wanted to keep playing with Yui though. But before Aria could pull away protectively, something surprised her more.

"Raven? I thought you were staying in Ikebukuro! Weren't we in contact this whole time?" The eyepatched genius snickered and flashed her holo which was a few models more advanced than Aria's. "Excuse me but my whole database is on here, so I can move if I wish." Her eye was glinting deviously. "I was lying in case someone was listening in. You know VorTech manages the server that holos hook up to, right?" And it was no surprise either. Viktor Vorkov was well known as one of Shoku's allies and he had helped the dictator into his seat just like how Kenshiro had helped him as well. "So the network isn't necessarily safe." Raven nodded and then turned her attention to Yui. Or, well, Loretta to her. All at once the girl's expression softened and she looked like she wanted to say something but thought better of it.

So instead the HIVE Executive just waved a casual hand at the backpack fish. "Good to see you're talking again." She said and she didn't sound at all like her business self... instead more like a big sister caring for a younger one. "I'm Raven, I don't live with you, but I help keep you safe too." The Fox checked his holo, interrupting them. "Xavier says we should get going now." He eyed Shinobu threateningly. "Look, man, if you don't come with us, you're going to die. The Black Reaper's heading this way, we don't have time." If they were going to go, it had to be now. "Uncle, please." Midori implored, growing more nervous as time went on. "No one's strong enough for the Black Reaper, please!"

Then there was a gunshot, sharp enough to cut off all communication. On instinct Aria created a shield of wind to block for Yui and Fox had fire ready to guard himself and Raven if something were to happen. Raven was shouting into her holo but then the connection cut out at a press of a button by the intruder. The woman strolled in with a small group of soldiers behind her, all masked and armored. She was tall, imposing, and anything but friendly despite that wide smile. "You may call me K." She said and sauntered out to greet them. "Oh, Shinobu, please don't call for these people's tricks. They're just puppets of the Hikari sisters, and we both know just how evil they can be." Raven growled, shaking her railgun threateningly.

"We don't have time to fight amongst each other, K." She hissed, too exasperated to put on the pleasant act. "If we don't all team up against Shoku he's going to kill us all!" K smiled, not at all afraid of the railgun. "My benefactor has a plan for him, don't you fret." K brandished her gun with extreme ease. "Oh, Yui, please, you don't realize just how much Nemesis and the other Freedom Fighters are tricking you. If only you knew what the Hikari sisters had in store for you." She opened her arms wide in greeting. "Come to my arms, Yui, we'll protect you from those who would control you."

Aria tensed, ready to fight at any moment. "Don't fall for her lies." She hissed, not knowing that K wasn't lying in the slightest, and if Yui could sense lies and truths just yet, she would know very well that all was not as it seemed.

Yui shook her head, no, she wasn't having a seizure. Those had occurred frequently before her time in the tank, not that Yui knew that. "Yui... no... people." She tried, hoping to get the point across. Thankfully, someone else did it for her, explaining that Yui was uncomfortable around so many others. She nodded and shyly looked up; no doubt the others were regretting bringing her along for the ride. At least Yui couldn't get in the way since she was mounted on Aria's back like a carry on. She didn't have much choice in where they went or who they would be fighting either. Still, it was vital experience in the field that couldn't be earned any other way. This was a relatively calm mission as well, or at least, that was what they were hoping for. Should the Black Reaper make an appearance it could quickly turn into a blood bath.

The girl with the raven colored hair stalked towards them, her first clenched tightly around her holo. Yui noticed it of course,
but said nothing, wondering if she had offended the black haired one by staring at her. Aria seemed surprised, addressing the girl as Raven. Raven? Like the bird? "Birb?" Yui whispered, looking around the warehouse for any signs of the majestic species. There were pigeons laying around, bu nothing that Yui could really consider a bird. Yui was thinking all about Raven wearing a cape of synthetic black feathers and a gold crown. She could see her becoming a ruler that would use an iron clad fist to ensure that justice was sought and punishment was swift and fair. For some reason, the thought was comforting.
A fair and just outstretched hand

Yui smiled up at her, "Yui talks! Yui talks lots!" Fox giggled and Yui hope that she had made Raven happy as well. It was true that Yui was awfully talkative, even when she had nothing to say, almost like a normal human girl. She liked the box they called a TV, Yui now understood so much thanks to it! "Yui is Yui. Yui decided Raven okay, so Raven stay." The way she spoke was a bit confusing, but she was picking up on things faster than before, which was great. Aria no longer had to repeat her name ten times a day for Yui to remember who she was and Yui remembered to flush the toilet when she used the loo, which was a big victory.

The room shook, the doors rattled, Yui hid her face in Aria's back once more as debris made up of dust rained down on them. Yui coughed, the dirt making it hard to breathe. She looked up, wondering what could have happened and knowing that based on the reactions of those around her, it couldn't have been anything good. Yui shook her at the offer. [color=#50A6C2Yui stay,[/color] she replied, wanting to be with Aria and the others

For some reason Raven was amused at being called Birb. Her cheeks flushed and her eyes lit up in a way Aria refused to believe was real. A girl like Raven, acting like a normal person for once? "Once we're done here, maybe I'll come visit your place, Yui." Raven grinned. It was nice seeing the two interact though Aria couldn't tell why. On the other hand, K interrupting the extraction mission was far from something enjoyable. In the end, with everything K said, Yui wanted to stay with those she was already with. "We have to go!" Midori panicked, cradling her little brother who was making strange babbling noises. "The Black Reaper's going to be here any second!" K smiled. "My Benefactor doesn't fear the Black Reaper, and neither do I." She spoke like venomous honey to attract her prey. "Come, Tsukasa, we can shelter you far better than these people can."

She wasn't just going to give up on Yui though, it seemed. "Yui, I have evidence that the Hikari sisters are evil. Have you ever heard of the Go-" An electric shot from nowhere, Raven was serious now. The Fox took that as his cue to get ready too, dashing forward to grab Tsukasa and pull him back while creating a wall of fire between them and K's forces. "Stop spreading misinformation." The bird of prey hissed, seeming very imposing despite her small size. "Let's get moving, we've wasted enough time." Shinobu looked as if he was about to protest but his niece took his arm with a pleading look. "The Reaper's coming, so we need to go." The Yakuza leader was not impresesd but at least for now he didn't have a choice, not unless he wanted to burn in the flames.

Then there was a crack, too fast for Aria to react. It was headed right for Raven and K never missed a shot. The whirring of the railgun was automatic but it was going to take too long and then there was another crack, shooting right through the bullet. No one else in Japan but Jenny was capable of such a feat. She blew imaginary smoke from her revolver and grinned. "You guys were taking so long so me and the Leader decided to show up." Her long blonde hair rippled brilliantly in the cold wind from the warehouse's entrance. Xavier was next to her, smiling proudly at his lover. "Let's get moving before Shoku's forces notice us." But still, K and her men were already here, they weren't just going to let them leave unless Aria did something. "You should know that pushy people are just annoying!" She thrust her arm forward, wind fanning the flames and causing them to surge ever more strongly towards K's direction. If ever the smell of burnt fish was stronger than it was now, the idol really didn't want to know.

The Koto Ward was big. The Freedom Fighters had two bases in the ward. The first was in Odaiba, a small apartment right next to the famed Odaiba Beach with a beautiful view of the Rainbow Bridge and an easy pathway into the Minato Ward where the imposing Roppongi Building existed with all it's looming height. The second was farther east, away from the pier, almost at the border that would take them from the Koto Ward to the Edogawa Ward. The base was in fact, right next to the Yumenoshima Park, famous for it's beautiful tropical greenhouse dome. "And past Edogawa is Disney's Wonderland." Aria said cheerfully to the Fish as they walked in the dead of night on the near empty streets of Japan. Not that Aria knew it, but the Enforcers were being kept directly away from here by Natsuo so that their breaking curfew wouldn't be suspicious. The Fox snickered appreciatively. "Wonderland." He whistled. "Let's get Yui mouse ears!" But no matter how he tried to joke, and how casual Aria was trying to be, nothing could dispel the tense air about them.

It all happened in an instant. Blood tails struck out from all around them as if they had walked right into a trap. Aria quickly formed an air shield to stop Yui from being skewered on a tail and Jenny's rapid reflexes saved her but everyone else was tangled up now. The Black Reaper was here. He grinned, deliberately pulling little Midori up off the ground where she was pinned. "Shoku says to take her for testing." He said cruelly. "The rest of you can die." With a roar Shinobu wrenched himself free of his binds and with his elbow he jabbed Ronan hard against the wall. "Run." He shouted with the force of a mad bull. "I'll keep him here, just get Midori and Ao out of here!"

Excitement bubbled in Aria but she remembered Xavier's orders, they were to leave and get away because fighting with the Black Reaper was death. "We need you alive to lead the Yakuza, Tsukasa." Fox grabbed him off of Ronan who struck like a vice, only to be held back by a sudden sprouting of vines all over his body. Midori confirmed Aria's suspicions, she really was a light bearer too. Was this why Tsukasa was so reluctant to follow them? Special Enforcers under Ronan's direct command encircled them. "Shoot to kill." Ronan ordered. The idol had to act fast. So she swirled air around her to form a dragon and used it to break past two of the enforcers creating an opening. Without looking at the others she used a blast of air behind her to shoot herself and Yui out of the trap like a rocket. Then almost just as quickly, a blood tail went flying right at Midori who was too focused on her vines to notice. She was in danger but just as much risk was Shinobu who was about to jump between her and the tail to take the hit in her place.

Instinct wasn't something that could be taught. It was something you were born with, something that called out deep inside of you and if you were lucky, your inner voice would rise to meet it.

Like calls to like.

In a burst of motion and sound, the warehouse began to burn. The acrid scent of materials filled the air, piercing her lungs, the light so bright and the heat warming her cold bones. It was beautiful, unlike anything Yui had ever seen. Beautiful, but dangerous. She could tell from the way the flames licked the floor, the walls, smoke filling her lungs and stinging her eyes. This was a kind of beauty that Yui would never get used to.

Power.

They vacated the warehouse, the night air cool on her face. It was snowing again, falling in delicate folds that stuck to the piles gathered on the side of the road. They ran, continuing in their quest to deliver the package to safety. Just beyond the next ward was Wonderland, the place Aria had promised to show her. Yui's hands opened and she reached towards the stars, her head tilted back to capture the picture of the night sky. After having spent all of her time watching through a window, at long last, living was exhilarating. "Ears?" Yui questioned, touching her own, for what purpose would a human need two more ears for? Despite the laughter, there was tension. Jenny took up position at the back of the pack, guns drawn and loaded, the safety turned off so that she could shoot at a moment's notice.

Leading them was Xavier, who could transport whatever he was touching at a moment's notice. Not this many though, not all at once. The girl called Raven and the boy named Fox were on either side of the group and huddled in the middle, the package they were charged with protecting. A girl with green hair, whose blood pulsated strangely in her body, her cheeks flushed with heat was struggling to keep up. Their breath was visible, their chests heaving as their footsteps slapped the pavement. Despite the frigid temperatures, they were sweaty from the exertion.

A man stepped out of the shadows, his hair the same color as the freshly driven snow. His eyes were the hue of blood and he wore a smile despite himself. "The Black Reaper!" A call came and screams were torn from bodies as crimson tails lashed out, striking the group. Aria moved to protect them, keeping Yui out of harms way. Still, the situation was dire. Bullets flew, punches were thrown, time seemed to slow as Yui watched, befuddled by the emotions welling up inside of her.

Like calls to like.

Her fists clenched, her breathing rapidly increasing. Yui unhinged herself from the harness, falling to the ground. She could feel it inside of her, the overwhelming need to help, to make the situation right. "Bad Reaper," the girl they so lovingly teased whispered, the cut on her hand dripping with glistening red drops. She slashed through the blood tails with ease, the sizzling sound sickening and yet, satisfying all the same.

"You!" Ronan breathed, his surprise evident on his face. After all, there was only one light bearer with that power. A Cheshire like grin crept onto his mouth, "Shoku will be very happy if I bring you back too."

"Yui won't... Yui won't let you!" She struggled to find the words, gritting her teeth. Instinct slipped into her body like a second skin. Yui needn't think, only move. "Yui? That's not your name! You think a creature so lowly as you deserves a name!" Ronan spat with maniacal laughter. Xavier used the opportunity to transport Shinobu and Fox away, telling them to run. Next was Midori, who looked as though she were a bit to cry.

"What is... what is Yui?" She asked, wary of anything that came from the Monster's mouth. Their blood clashed brilliantly, hissing with the warmth of a fresh corpse on a cold night.

"You're like me... a monster." His tail slashed, hitting Yui across the eye. She fell back, feet slipping on ice. Xavier reached out behind her, grabbing Yui around the middle before she could hit the ground and like smoke they dissipated, disappearing into the dark night.

Aria knew what needed to be done. Even if she wasn't confident she could win, this was the only way. The Black Reaper was too strong for them to fight, but he was also too fast for them to outrun. Someone needed to stay behind and distract him in order to buy Xavier enough time to lead everyone to the Yumenoshima Base. And as Aria was the fastest thanks to her powers, she was the best choice for this. "Take care of the fish, leader." Aria whispered as Xavier transported the adorable Yui to what would hopefully be safety. Jenny rolled her eyes and grabbed Aria, yanking her into the group transport with Xavier. "Stop being dramatic, orders are not to engage." Repeated Xavier's words from the start of the operation. Everything shimmered and then they were out, leaving no trace as to where they might have gone.

"I wanted to fight him again." Aria complained as stealthily as someone could complain, flexing her arms in boredom. It was strange seeing someone tiny like Yui fight on par with the Black Reaper though. If they could cultivate her ability and train her in other ways, maybe Yui could just very well be their trump card in this whole mess. It wasn't like anyone else was able to keep up with the endless blood tails he sprouted. "Damian hacked into the Enforcer's network." Raven reported,
glancing down at her holo as she hooked in. "Xav, he should be sending you the safe path for us now." That was when something registered. "Yui, are you okay?" She was in close combat with Ronan, no one just did that and got out unscathed.

Her eye, he had gotten her eye. Ari was no doctor, but she did know that this was a bad thing. "Leo's dad should already be waiting at the Yumenoshima base." Xavier said quickly and then a short sprint later, they were there. Surprisingly there wasn't any further resistance from Tsukasa despite all of his reservations. "Don't take Midori and give her to the Hikaris." He almost begged them as they entered the safehouse and Xavier grabbed Yui to hand her over to the Doc for examination. "K might be an enemy, but she's right in that we can't trust Hime or Mayumi." Raven frowned, thinking. "The Goddess Project, that's what K was trying to say earlier." The dark genius muttered. "I don't know much about it, it's too top secret for me to get access to." But this was proof that whatever it was, it existed.

"Well for now they're helping us and Shoku most certainly isn't." They could worry about whatever the Hikari sisters were doing behind closed doors later. Right now Shokuw as the biggest threat - and finding out if Mizu was even alive was also incredibly important, at least for Ari. Fox took her hands then, squeezing them but saying nothing. "Well, hopefully Yui recovers and we get use her to fight." If her hunch was right, the little fish really did have the potential to be amazing. That was when Tsukasa gave her almost a look of disgust. "I suggest you don't make her fight."
He growled. "A child like her shouldn't have to." The idol very nearly wanted to mock him for the sudden concern when he was the leader of a crime mob family.

Raven was thinking about other matters, however. "Tsukasa, do we have your cooperation now? We did save your life, after all."
The crimelord sighed and shook his head. "Even if I were to say yes, after the beating the rest of my men had, those still alive don't have the will to keep fighting." The Yakuza was beaten down into bits despite the leader and his children being saved. "If they want to fight again, they'll need something to inspire them." He glanced away and then at Midori's pleading look he nodded,
coming to a decision. "Raven, I can't offer you soldiers, but I can give you the location of the Ion Engine." But little did he know,
Shoku had already pilfered it from the Yakuza's base in Bunkyo Ward, transferring it to his favorite closet, the large weapon storage facility underneath Setagaya station.

It burned, the sensation filled her head as blood bubbled out from the eye socket, a large slash visible across her face. Yui cried out in pain as Xavier set her down. Her breath coming out in uneven gasps, knees shaking as the strange sensation infiltrated her senses.

So this was pain.

It was something that Yui never wanted to experience again if she could help it. They still had a few hundred feet to cover, but Yui could not go on any longer. Her knees buckled and she fell into the snow, blood bubbling as it melted the cold white powder. Xavier yanked Yui back to her feet, holding her carefully so as not to get plasma on himself. "Yui is... hurting." She swallowed as she replied to Aria's inquiry and Xavier nodded. "I know, we're almost there, hang on a little longer." Yui whimpered, attempting to close the hurt eye. "Hurts," she mewled, the door to the hideout bursting open. She could hear Damian in her mind, telling her that it was going to be alright. They were safe now.

Safety was relative.

The Doc was rushing downstairs not two minutes later, pulling on a clean pair of scrubs. "Damian told me, come on," Xavier handed Yui off to him like a stuffed animal being passed between two children. The Doc tenderly placed her on the bed, turning around to grab his tools. Yui unzipped her jacket, so warm she was suffocating. She tore off the wig and winter cap and ripped away her mittens. Ronan's blood was poisonous, just like Yui's, it had the potential to wreck havoc in more ways than one. "I'm going to start by neutralizing the poison," the Doc explained, his hands cold, even through the thick gloves he wore. "I'm also gonna give you an anesthetic so you won't feel anything," he injected her in the cheek, hoping to neutralize the poison as quickly as possible. Next was the anesthetic, the Doc started an IV and began pushing through a thick, opaque liquid. "There's going to be some burning, but it'll be short. Do you know numbers yet?" Yui nodded slowly, already feeling the effects. "Good, count as high as you can for me."

"1...2...3......."

Yui was asleep just like that. The Doc grimaced as he began to intubate, making sure that Yui's vitals were stable. He locked the door to keep the environment sterile, opening the wound a bit to clean it and then stitching the large cut shut. Every tool that touched her blood eroded, almost crumbling in his hands. He was glad for the thick gloves he wore, he would have to devise some tools that could withstand the acid content, or whatever it was that corroded the materials.

The Doc hated to think it, but it was more than likely that Yui would never see out of that eye again. Of course, he didn't know about Yui's stellar healing factor, or the fact that she could regenerate limbs. Each stitch was carefully placed, the poor girl would have to live with the scar for the rest of her life, but if it meant protecting those that cared for her, Yui would gladly lose her other eye. "There, all done," the Doc whispered, removing his facial mask. He bandaged the wound and placed an eye patch over the damaged eye. While she was still asleep, the Doc took the opportunity to draw blood and then checked her light bearing mark. He pulled up her skirt, noticing that the small amount of darkness had grown ever so slightly.

He would have to tell Leo to keep an eye on it.

"Okay, she's all done." Doc unlocked the door, Xavier having been waiting outside while he worked. The others were loudly debating downstairs, the house lively despite the fact that they had just nearly died. "How is she?" Xavier asked, lifting Yui off of the bed. The Doc had other patients to treat after all. "She's going to be hurting for awhile, but I expect she'll make a full recovery. I'm going to give these to you, see to it that you or Damian are the only ones that give it to her." He didn't trust Aria to handle pain medication. Xavier nodded, "Of course," he pocketed the pills and carried Yui downstairs to the couch. "Midori, go have that cut looked at. Aria, next time I say don't engage, it doesn't mean try to sacrifice yourself." He flicked her forehead, "moron, it's like you never want to perform again or something."

"Ronan, you've failed me." The white haired boy hung his head, kneeling in front of the man behind the desk. The Minister of Japan rose to his feet, looming over his lackey menacingly. "Oh look, you've been hurt," Ira knelt down, stroking Ronan's cheek. He pushed his nail into the cut, causing Ronan to hiss with pain. "Next time you fail it's going to be much worse," he threatened, applying the electric cuff that utilized light to heal wounds. "I'm sorry Sir," Ronan looked down, used to the painful buzz he associated with healing.

"Don't apologize to me!" Ira snapped, "do better next time! Then maybe we'll see some results!" Ronan's hands balled into fists. "I have information," he said quietly.

"On what? That deli you stalk the windows of?" Ronan shook his head, he only stalked the deli because of a memory that haunted him, one he couldn't quite place. That deli, after all, used to be a clinic. "I found her," Shoku froze, a grin blossoming on his lips. "Those wounds," Ronan nodded. She was the only one who had ever been able to oppose Ira's most beloved puppet. "Well, I must say Ronan, this changes things. What was she like? Tell me, was she glorious?"

"She was... different. She could speak." Shoku laughed, the sound unpleasant. "Of course they would fix that. What else?"

"She wanted to know what she was."

"And?"

"I told her she was like me."

"You fool!" Shoku slammed Ronan's nose with his knee. "She's nothing like you, she's better, the best there is. I created her, I would know." The white haired boy held his nose as blood poured out of both nostrils. "Don't you dare get blood on the carpet boy." Shoku threatened. "Who was she with? Who are the ones harboring her?"

"The air user, the matter transporter, the fire wielder, and Haruka." Shoku's laughed filled the air, a sound so vile that it caused chills on even the most hardened politicians. "So, it seems my daughter is having a party and forgot to invite her dearest dad." He grinned, "Ronan, next time you encounter that group, I want you to engage to the fullest extent. Capture them all through any means necessary, they're clearly important to her if she's willing to fight to protect them. They'll make great pieces to my collection." Shoku licked his lips and adjusted his glasses. "And Ronan?"

"Yes sir?"

"Do stop stalking the deli, you're going to draw attention to yourself."

A few days later they received a strange call, one from someone Aria did not expect. They all knew about VorTech, they all knew that Viktor was a loyal member of Ira Shoku's cadre. So she did not expect this one bit, a call from the CEO of VorTech himself. "What do you want?" Xavier asked in a very guarded voice. Why did Hime approve of this call, he wondered. Wasn't Hime supposed to be protecting their identities and locations? Just handing their contact information to Viktor like this it was almost as if she was selling them out. "Why are you calling us?" His face was on the big screen in the lobby that Yui was permitted to be in now, she was no longer confined to her room or the attic.

"I have a proposition to make." It was of course, legendary, almost a folklore sort of story how the Yakuza was supposed to have been snuffed out in its entirety. Instead Light Bearers saved them, or at least, saved what little they could. What was once a mighty and fearsome mob was now a small scattered broken members with no desire to continue fighting. But perhaps that was fine because the former Yakuza territory now belonged to the HIVE, giving the Matriarch and Raven more room to maneuver their forces throughout New Tokyo. "After hearing of your exploits, I have come to a decision." The old electrical engineer seemed a strange mix of kind and stern that Aria could hardly read. "How do we know this isn't a trap?" She asked pointedly and Viktor shrugged. "You'll just have to trust that it isn't. I want you to pick up my daughter. She is..." He paused, but then forged ahead with his choice. "She is a light bearer like you, and Shoku does not know she exists. Her talents will be very useful to you. I only ask that she be protected from harm."

That sure seemed interesting, but the fact remained that Viktor was one of Shoku's friends. "Aren't you one of Shoku's most trusted?" The idol hissed suspiciously and to his credit, the man on the screen didn't look like he blamed them for the pointed fingers. Before he could speak though, someone poked their head onto the screen. Her hair was long and black, her eyes wide and naive to the reality of the world. "It's the Freedom Fighters!" She chirped excitedly, and then examined them again. "They look poor. Are you sure they're fit for the task, Daddy?" Already Aria had a headache, this girl was going to be a nightmare of a brat, wasn't she?

Viktor whispered something to his daughter and she tilted her head. "But that's Nemesis! What if she finds out my fanart is of her and the Black Reaper? They just look so cute together!" Aria hissed in annoyance, crossing her arms. "I already have a boyfriend." She said pointedly when suddenly Xavier laughed. "You know what? We accept. It'll do us good to have another younger girl here." He was thinking of Yui's well being here, of course. Aria glowered at their leader but didn't question his decision. "In two days I will arrange a convoy to drop her off at the Pier." Viktor explained, forwarding any additional information to their holos. "I'm counting on you all."

They arrived home at sunrise, the stars a breath away from disappearing. Yui rode Xavier's back, Damian greeting them with warm drinks and breakfast. All Yui wanted to do was sleep, her face throbbed and was swollen from the stitches. It itched and Yui had to wear mittens to keep from scratching it, not understanding why she wasn't allowed to take care of the pain. The hot chocolate warmed her up from the inside out and slowly, she defrosted. "If it hurts too much, we have pain medicine. Aria, you're not allowed to touch it," Damian said sternly, placing the bottle in the cabinet. "That goes for you too Jenny," Jenny was clean, sober since she met Xavier and the girl held her hands up. "I'm not gonna!" She placed one of her guns on the table, unloading the bullets. "No weapons at the table," Damian groaned. "Yui is... tired." The mini girl yawned, stretching, "go up to bed, Leo's going to be here soon."

Acclimating to life with one eye was not easy. Yui did not enjoy the itchiness of her skin or the fact that she had no depth perception. She started going up stairs like a dog and down the stairs by sliding on her butt, carefully feeling how far the next step was with her foot. "Hey, let's redo that old room, make it up all nice. Aria, you're gonna be in charge, Damian and I will build whatever we need. Jenny, you take those old sheets and spruce them up." In a few days time they had a beautiful room ready and when Yui moved downstairs, they covered her good eye, surprising her with the their hard work. "Yui... Yui loves!" She was so happy she cried, spinning around slowly to take it all in. The bed was by the window because they knew how much Yui loved to look outside. There was a desk with a spinning chair and on the other side, a mini Ferris wheel full of plush toys. "Yui is, Yui is so happy!" She giggled, laying down on the bed in delight.

Therapy with Leo continued, now Yui had to work from a different level, learning to navigate life with an eye patch. Jenny had cutsied them all up, putting ribbons and lace on them to give the eye patches a fashionable feel, using the materials that Aria brought her. The day they received the message, Yui was reading through the dictionary, trying to convey something to Damian, who had missed the firewall warning. It was a good thing that Yui had moved out of the attic, since they would be harboring a girl with quite a bit of baggage. "You're getting a new friend Yui! Isn't that exciting?" Damian grinned and Yui nodded, looking back down at the dictionary. "Yui is happy!" She decided, eagerly counting down the two days.

On the morning of the arrival, Yui awoke early and took a bath, wanting to be fresh. Leo had discovered her ena in the files and had bought a container of soaking salts with nice scents that Yui could put in the tub when she wanted to refresh. Yui sat down at the top of the steps, slowly scooting her way down to the bottom. No one else was awake yet, the sun was just rising, but she was too eager to sleep. A new friend! Yui hoped that she was nice. The girl tugged nervously at the dress she was wearing, her hair now long enough to wear two mini pigtails. She sat by the window, watching while the mailman delivered letters to all of the houses. Yui could feel the cold when she pressed her forehead against the glass and noticed the birds flying overhead in a circle, no doubt finding this climate to be inhospitable.

Allyana Vorkova. A bratty little thing at fifteen, still short and definitely lanky and her hair was long enough to reach her butt. A noble lady of Japan? Hah, she was far too silly and sheltered for that, almost like a child raisd in a glass cage than someone that was properly socialized. Such is the price when someone is hidden away from society at large, only to be let out in a time of war and crisis. She was finally being let out of the glass cage her father put her in now, she was finally free. Well, currently she was at free in a cargo ship, being smuggled from the prestigious off-shore Vorkov Mansion, to the pier in the Koto Ward where the Freedom Fighters were to greet her.

They were all gathered here at the Pier in the frosty chilly wind as the dawn sun rose in the once dark sky. Because this wasn't anticipated to be a fight at all, not really. Viktor assured them that he took precautions to ensure that his convoy would not be interrupted or seen by any of Shoku's spies. "I'm excited." Jenny grinned as she kissed Xavier to try and stay warm. Aria was holding Yui, massaging her arms to try and soothe her in case it was too cold. "Now the girls will finally outnumber the boys!" Her eyes twinkled. "We can vote to color the base in pink and the boys won't stop us!" Aria frowned, shaking her head. "I prefer purple though." Jenny gasped in fake shock, dramatically sighing. "We were supposed to be a united girl front against the oppression of the boys!" The idol sneered at that, "You're not a girl, you're just a cow." Jenny giggled and grabbed Aria's chest from behind. "Are we sure you're a girl? You're so flat, aren't you just a short dude?"

"Okay, settle down, ladies." Damian was smiling despite himself though, it was clear he found it at least a little entertaining. "We want to look proper for when Allyana arrives." That was when Aria's holo went off. She fought herself free from the cow's grip and looked at it. "Um?" It was from Natsuo and she didn't understand why. "Natsuo's... sending us a warning." She showed it to everyone else. "It says to get out because the Black Reaper-" That was when the boat arrived, and a girl stepped out of the cargo hold without so much as a care in a world. "Would you believe how dirty it was in there! And it was so dark too! Not evne a comfortable spot to sit in! You would think the boatmaster would allow me to have suitable lodging on the boat but, ah, so rude! What audacity!"

Aria stared in disbelief. This was who they were going to have to protect? This absolutely irritating brat? "Oh, I'm sorry, I hardly noticed you Freedom Fighters. You would think heroes would know how to better dress themselves properly." Ally scoffed, clearly looking down on them. "Never fear, I am here to show you all how to appropriately present yourselves for good society." And then there was a mocking laugh behind them. Just as Natsuo warned, the Black Reaper was here, with a small entourage. "I have another idea." He grinned maliciously, blood tails waving threateningly behind him. "Let's go have a party with the Emperor then." And since Raven and Fox were busy helping the Matriarch assert their control in Bunkyo, they wouldn't be here to help this time. Aria lunged on instinct, only for a blood tail to very nearly slip by her shoulder. It nicked her and aimed right at the fish, stopped only by a bullet by Japan's cowiest gunslinger. "Go!" She screamed as Xavier pulled Allyana off the boat. "We have to go now!"

Xavier grabbed them all, as many as he could and in one fell swoop, he leaped. It was the biggest one he had ever done and it was enough to make him crumple when they returned to the safe house, all of them in one piece. "That was close!" Damian fell back on the couch. Jenny's gun was still smoking and Yui wiggled out of Aria's arms. Allyana was quiet and Yui wasn't sure if it was shock or the fact that she was generally unimpressed with their hideout. Yui took the pocket dictionary out of her coat and flipped through it, standing in front of Allyana Vorkov. "Yui wants..." she looked through the pages, trying to find the right word. "Yui wants to be friend!" She smiled, holding out her hand in the hopes that Allyana would accept her proposal.

Yui heard snickering behind her, but she remained determined, hand outstretched. "I'll go make some snacks," Damian stood as Jenny helped Xavier onto the couch. Damian was going to check other things too, like whether or not the Black Reaper was still at the warehouse. He turned on the holo screen in his room and sank into the chair, making a slow circle and switching through to use the security cameras positioned throughout Tokyo. The Reaper was no longer there, him and his convoy having moved out already. Damian breathed a sigh of relief, it looked as though their drop off location had been compromised, he would have to inform Hime as such. Damian began composing the letter, updating her on their new refugee and requesting the papers once more for a larger allowance.

"There, done." The telepath stood, going to the kitchen to fix up some snacks and tea to help them all recover from their near brush with death. "I swear, he doesn't give up," it looked as though the Reaper was out for blood, out for Yui's blood specifically. Was it revenge for managing to land a few good blows? Perhaps it was something more sinister?

"Hungry? I made tea," Damian set the cups down on the kotatsu table, pouring the perfectly brewed liquid into each. "I made biscuits, there's more than enough for seconds." Jenny helped Xavier over, the two of them practically collapsing on top of each other on pillows. Damian averted his eyes, not wanting to intrude on such a private moment. Yui bound over as well, taking a seat despite the fact that she wouldn't touch anything on the table, she just liked being with them all.

"I checked the mission logs, there doesn't seem to be anything new today. I think it would be good for all of us to rest anyhow, Yui, when Allyana's done, why don't you show her to her room?" Yui nodded happily, "Mhm!" Xavier looked up at Aria, seeming a bit pale. "Don't look so mournful, you'll get your chance to fight him."

And just like that they were whisked to safety. Ally scoffed in disbelief. "But we outnumbered him so much! I was looking forward to an exciting fight!" The way her eyes sparkled you could almost tell she wanted some good source material for her next drawing of Aria and Ronan together. God, this girl was so peculiar and yet Yui almost seemed to affix herself to the brat in seconds. "Well, if you want to be friends, I'll have to make you presentable for high society." She curled her finger in a 'come hither' sort of motion and walked around, expecting Yui to follow her like a dog. "Come." She said again, tutting. "I will show you how to care for your hair like a good lady should." Was it really okay? "What's your power, Allyana?"

Maybe it was too brunt, but she needed to get to the bottom of this. This girl was advertised as having some kind of useful ability, right? "Here, let me show you." Allyana smiled and waved her finger, making Damian slump over in a sleep within seconds. Xavier jumped on Damian first, almost panicked. "What did you do, is he okay?" He asked and the rich brat giggled. "Wait, I'm not finished yet!" In an instant everything seemed to sway and blur and then - Everything was so strange. They were all here, gathered together on a giant stage. And for some reason on the stage was Xavier and Damian dancing together. Ally raised her hands in innocence. "It wasn't me, I didn't do that, Damian dreamed it himself!" Jenny laughed loudly and punched the dreaming Damian on the shoulder. "Hey, that's my boyfriend!" She teased, not seeing Damian as a love rival in the least.

"So, you can make people sleep and go in their dreams?" Ally nodded, suddenly thinking. "Yes, this is my power! Isn't it just so wonderful! Here, let me show you!" With a wave of the hand the scenery shimmered, now it was everyone genderswapped. And then suddenly they were all cats and dogs in a giant pet play pen. And then they were back to normal. "I'm the Goddess of Dreams!" Allyana said dramatically and then she waved her arm again-'

And they were let out, just like that. Damian excused himself nearly immediately, as if he didn't want to deal with Xavier's questioning on why his dream was the two of them dancing together. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have a girl's hair to fix." Aria groaned, massaging her sore head. "If we were going to get a fifteen year old, why can't we have Mizu? She's so much sweeter than this... thing!" Xavier smiled a little. "She's actually seventeen." He corrected. "And don't worry, she'll be useful. That power, it's not a combat one, but it'll be very useful in having long-distance meetings where we won't be spied on by a certain someone." Now of course there was another problem. "How do we convince Raven that she isn't here to spy on us for her father and Shoku?" Because if she could just contact them in dreams and tell them everything about the Freedom Fighters, that was literally game over. Why in god's name did Xavier think it was a good idea to bring her over?

"Just for the record, I think she's too much of a risk, but I didn't want to question your leadership in front of everyone." The idol admitted quietly. But they had no choice now, she was just going to have to trust the brat wasn't a spy.

"Ari is friend too!" Yui smiled as she spoke, following Allyana when she beckoned her forward. Yui wasn't sure what was happening, but Allyana was her first friend and Yui didn't want to disappoint her. A lady of high society? Yui didn't understand such things. To say she was confused by all of this was an understatement, especially when she collapsed, falling into a dream that did not belong to her. When Damian told Yui to show Allyana to her room, Yui nodded. She took Allyana's hand and led her up the stairs and up the ladder to the attic. "This is Ally's room!"

"Don't speak so familiarly!" Allyana said with a humph! She spun, looking around the ghastly space with what could only be described as a jarring stare of horror. "And where do you sleep?" Ally asked, so Yui dutifully took Ally to her room. "This is my room now!" Ally declared, liking Yui's room much better. Yui shook her head, "No... this Yui's room!" Yui protested, but Allyana had made up her mind. "Nope, sorry, it's mine now." Ally grabbed hold of Yui and pushed her out, locking the door behind her. Frustrated tears welled up in Yui's good eye, at least this was an emotion she was used to. Yui took the stairs two at a time, nearly tripping over her own feet. She stopped at the bottom, the tears running down her cheek by now. "Whoa, Yui, what's wrong?" Xavier asked, they were still sitting around the table, drinking their tea.

"Ally stole Yui's room!" Yui collapsed onto a pillow next to Aria, her head in Aria's lap as she cried. "Yui loves room!" It was the first act of accepting her as one of their own, or at least, in Yui's mind it was. "Don't cry," Xavier said rather awkwardly. "We'll take care of it, okay. Ari, why don't you take Yui and go talk to her?" Girl talk was something that Xavier and Damian didn't understand and Jenny was late to work. "Shit, I just realized, Jenny, you weren't wearing a mask were you?" Jenny froze up. "No, I wasn't," she whispered, but she needed to leave.

"I'll be alright, the Black Reaper has nothing on the best gunsmith in Japan!" Her grave tone became loose, almost joking. Jenny grabbed her coat and hat and kissing Xavier on the cheek. Damian took her place by Xavier's side. "She'll be fine, I wouldn't be worried," he said, his face still red from that embarrassing dream. "She's the strongest none light user there is, I mean, aside from maybe Raven, but she grafted a rail gun to her arm so I can't really say whether or not she's truly strong." Damian scratched the back of his head, as much as he wanted to trust the HIVE, for some reason, Damian could not bring himself to do so. Not completely anyhow.

Aria knew it, she knew it, she knew Allyana was going to be a pain in everyone's asses. Oh, what she wouldn't give for the new addition to be Mizuki instead of this huge rich brat. Mizu was so sweet and playful and understanding, she was a much better option! Well, she would be if they had any idea where she might be. "Gosh, why do I have to handle it!" She just wanted to go flying around the city. That was a whole lot less stressful than girl drama to be sure. "I'm not good at girl drama, the only girls I'm friends with are Yurei and Minapon!" Jenny looked almost offended as she left. "Are we not friends?" She asked, overly dramatic so Aria glare at her. "I don't think humans and cows can be friends." She said, waving Jenny off.

But if this was her duty then fine, she would have to oblige by it, wouldn't she? "Let's go deal with this then." Aria groaned, her head was already killing her. She shook out memories of Mizu's voice from her head and took Yui by the hand. "And I think your hair is very nice as is." She said to the little fish, hoping maybe that would help. But Ally wouldn't even unlock the room. Moreover, she was blasting music extremely loud that would definitely get them overheard by any neighbors they might have the misfortune to have. "Hey, Vorkova!" Aria banged hard on the door. "Shut that music off, we're Freedom Fighters, not a teenager's sorority house!" They didn't need the extra attention.

And the brat was still ignoring them utterly.

Okay, fine, Aria knew what she had to do. She charged up air in her fist and then thrust it forward, knocking the door ajar, breaking the lock. Xavier would have to fix it later, most likely. If they'd been a minute slower they would have caught the rich girl crying because she missed her Father already. But the girl was already impeccably made and her eyes were as dry as a desert and the music had drowned out any possibility of her homesick sobs being heard. "Excuse me? But this is my room?" Aria was exasperated. "This is Yui's room, isn't it rude to just go and take someone's room!" Allyana rolled her eyes. "I'm a very important person guest! You can't offer me that ghastly attic to sleep in!" If she wasn't going to budge Aria could just offer Yui the bed and she could sleep on the beanbag chair in her own idol-themed room if needed...

But no, this was Yui's room, this was about principle. "But this is Yui's room! If you needed, we can allocate funds to making the attic nicer, into a penthouse if you'd like." Ally shook her head. "That's so much effort, I'm already comfortable here." Then someone else entered behind them. It was Leo, except it wasn't the scruffy white coat person, it was someone all dressed up fancy, hear slicked back, a suit nicely decorating his frame. "Would someone dressing for high society help you acclimatize?" He asked but then Ally laughed out loud, cheeks turning red. "High society? You? You didn't even shave correctly nor is the hair gel mixed in perfectly!"

"Yui's room," she whimpered, holding onto Aria's hand. "Yui loves room," the fish whispered, tears welling up in her eye once again. Leo shook his head, "Now Ms. Vorkov, you don't want to see Yui when she's mad. You know how she got that eye patch?" Leo adjusted his tie, clearing his throat. He had just come from an interview at a large hospital, which would explain the fancy attire. "Yui fought the Black Reaper," he grinned for effect. Yui sniffled, nodding her head. "Yui still hurts," she squeezed Aria's hand. "Yui doesn't like Bad Reaper," The fish whispered, shifting anxiously at the mention of his name. "Ms. Vorkov, I suggest you stay on Yui's good side if you'd like to remain in one piece." He held up a hand, showing off a scar from when he had accidentally touched Yui's blood after she fell during therapy and cut her knee. Of course, Allyana didn't know that; she was only a dream weaver, not a mind reader.

Allyana hesitated, "Fine." She huffed, collecting her things, Yui looked up, startled that Ally was willing to move. "But you better believe I'm going to need materials! Never mind, I don't need your help, I'll order it all myself!" She grabbed her bag and hauled it as she rose to her feet. "I'll carry that for you," Leo said, plucking the suitcase out of her hands and guiding Allyana out of the room. Yui sighed with relief and threw her arm around Aria in victory. "Thank you Ari," Yui said, nuzzling Aria's side with her face, sending her frilly eye patch askew. "Yui wants to show Aria picture!" Yui went to the desk and opened a drawer, her cheeks turning pink as she handed Aria a drawing she had made. At the top, in a terrible childish scrawl, Yui had written the word Family.

It was crude, but easy to tell who was who. "Damian, Xavier, Ari, Leo, Jenny, and Yui! Oh, Yui adds Ally now!" Yui took the paper back and quickly added Ally before handing the photo back to Aria to examine. "Is for Aria," Yui smiled, rocking back and forth on her heels as she waited for a critique from Aria. "Yui hopes Ari likes it!" Leo would be down any minute to start therapy, he also was hoping to do a bit of a psych evaluation on all of the Freedom Fighters because well, Leo had a feeling that after all of this fighting, they were going to need a little bit of support. Especially considering how many close calls there already were. "Allyana is settling nicely into her new room, go easy on her, I think she might miss her Dad more than she let's on." After all, leaving your only family member behind wasn't all that easy.

Yui nodded. "Ally no bad... Ally just no good." Yui summarized, quickly putting her room back in order. Ally had already taken it apart, pulling belongings out of drawers, going through all of the stuffed animals, and even taking a pair of Yui's underwear!? Yui would need to get that back, she didn't understand why it was gone, but she had a feeling that Ally was going to do something weird with it. "Can Ari stay with Yui night?" Yui asked shyly, toeing the ground. Her eye was throbbing, it had only been a few days since the fight and yet, it still hurt terribly.

After Allyrana was successfully moved out of Yui's peaceful abode, the little fish took out an image. "If there's anyone to thank it's Leo, he did most of the work." Aria mumbled, hands in her pockets. All she managed to do was yell. "Uh, sorry about breaking the lock?" What other choice did she have but to break it, though? Yui showed her the drawing, of the family - and the newly hastily added Allyana as well - and Aria felt her heart being squeezed. She noticed how there was still some space left, enough room to fit any other additions later on if need be. Mizu most obviously but maybe Raven or the Fox too if needed. "Oh, Yui." She knelt to Yui's level and gave her a gentle yet deep hug all the same. A crafty grin rose on her face. "You're such an artist, aren't you?"

Leo returned, confirming that Ally was settling in properly now. "I guess that makes sense." She lived her whole life with him and suddenly she was set free? No wonder the girl was acting out a little - well, not a little. Room stealing was a serious crime! "She'll just adjust with time... probably?" She'd have to because if she didn't, she wouldn't last the war. She hadn't seen the horrors of action yet - but then again, no one had really seen close ones dying before their eyes yet except for Damian who had to witness his entire household being slaughtered. Then Yui asked a question and Aria coughed, suddenly embarrassed. Leo had the sense to leave them alone then, no doubt starting therapy with Damian first. "No, never!" She yelped, but deep down she meant yes, of course she would. Yui probably knew that too.

Once it was time for therapy the main area of concern Leo wanted to hit was losing Mizuki and how it was affecting her. Because she was still an idol and doing shows, the idol's main form of an outlet was very much intact and it gave her a sense of normalcy Leo knew she needed. But still, the toll of failing Mizu hit hard. Still, Aria remained quite stable indeed, and there wasn't any major problems in her psyche just yet. For good measure, at Mayumi's request, he checked everyone's light bearing marks and confirmed that Aria's was still shining strong and bright. "How did Damian turn out?" Ari asked but Leo shook his head. "Sorry, but confidentiality rules still apply here, you know. You're all my clients." He was already back in his typical scrubs, removing the fancy outfit he was in for the hospital interview. "Well, you're doing well. Don't feel like your dad's shadow, okay?"

She laughed suddenly, grinning. "I think I prefer you over your dad, actually. You're easier to talk to, not stuffy like he is!" He thanked her and left to therapize the next person so Aria wondered just what to do next. Soon Raven would be calling Xavier and Hime and setting up a plan to obtain Tsukasa's Intra Oscillatory Nuclear Engine for herself. This would be a big operation, and it would require all three sides cooperating if they wanted to successfully take Shoku's Setagaya Station Base for themselves.
